As a survivor, I was wondering how many survivors like to sneak around the map and use stealth builds like iron will or urban evasion, and how many survivors don't mind running the killer around and actually looping with perks such as dead hard or sprint burst or resilience. I personally find that sneaking around the map sucks (maybe because I am so bad at it and always get caught 😂) but I also think that I am very good at looping unlike a lot of survivors that I play with so I wanted to see what some survivors run and do. LET ME KNOW!
I like to try and improve so I'll never avoid the chase if it's not a hindrance to the team (like myself being death hook) and if my other teammates are death hook I'll intentionally take aggro to give the team more of a chance.
Stealth in a game like this is boring; it becomes M1 simulator with no actual interactions. At that point, I may as well just play a spooky single player game.
Unless by stealth, you mean juke after a long chase. That's the best.

Been playing the new update all day, and when survivors want too gen rush games still end in 5-6 mins. There simply isn't enough time for someone like Leatherface or Deathslinger too pressure gens unless they 3 gen. Plus BHVR buffed perks too simply make the gen nerfs completely void, making the whole thing useless. We need heavy nerfs too gens for killers too have enough time too pressure gens, no one enjoys being stuck playing the same 3-4 killers because they are the only ones who can handle the gen rush.
They just made it worse since it simply further removes incentive from stacking on gens. My worst nightmare is finding out that during my first chase, all 3 other survivors that I didn't see or hear were all on separate gens....plus with the dodgy maps survivors are wanting to rush gens more as they drop a lot more easily with some of the new changes, especially when it comes to the infinite changes.

I am on the PTB right now, and all i can say is: Is this a little late april fools joke?? It has to be, right?
First game i play: Gas Heaven
There is 1 (ONE) single pallet on the whole middle of the map! One!
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/230/4H3MVCDIRVWD.jpg
The rest of it is a deadzone with absolutly nothing but here and there some trash!
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/101/KAWZ4X5O95AK.jpg
1 Pallet in the garage
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/235/17S8ZEX379VI.jpg
1 more pallet between killershack and deadzone
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/673/KZ4WVS1QIRA6.jpg
4 Jungle Gyms with 1 pallet each
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/384/6O5O0ZJKTNHG.jpg
And the Killer shack pallet.
8 pallets on the whole map. Are we good? I mean, ARE WE GOOD? I honestly have to ask without sarkasm. Have you forgot to add the pallets in those silly big deadzones and the silly big middle of the map (2 gens by the way... 1 pallet... )
This is even worse then i have expected, and i thought it will be aweful.
2Nd Game: Gas Heaven again
This time i count 7 pallets! And most of them are even weaker then before.
3rd Game: Thompson House
I am already really frustrated, so i stopped counting pallets but it looks like more or less the same ammount. All i can say at this point is that the map looks really really aweful, even worse then the old thompson house. It feels squeezed, not well designed at all.
I might try out a few more games after a break, but if this goes on like Thompson and Gas Heaven.. ahhm well... good luck with your next game devs. At least you know how you killed it.
Lack of pallets on Gas Heaven was actually an issue before this patch. I had a game a few days ago where this exact issue happened; only pallet in the middle of the map was the guaranteed car/petrol tanker pallet right outside the garage. The rest was completely empty but with lots of implied pallet tiles. Pretty sure it's bugged.

How does a QA team miss one of the fundamental parts of the game being bugged? lmao
What QA team? Their lack of one is self evident.

If you want to weigh in fun: Oni; he's good, not cheap, and has a high skillcap with his power.
Legion is frustratingly weak compared to other killers. Same goes for Clown.
Spirit has the potential to be fun, but she's just too easy to destroy survivors with, removing that fun.

HamletEagle basically answered it, but it's to prevent malicious modification of the ini files to gain an advantage. Unfortunately that means that other harmless tweaks, like disabling anti aliasing, are also disabled. It's not just to spite the people who prefer playing without anti aliasing.
Then why not give us some basic settings in-game to control it...?
We wouldn't need to go into game files to do these things if we were given basic options all other games have.
-
Sounds in line with steam DBD, tbh.
-
Neither really. Just remember if you die and you're the obession, that's a free 1000 survival points. ;)
It is really dependent on situation; the only time I've hated being the Obsession is when going against Play With Your Food Bubba that would refuse to commit to me so I had to be immersed to stop my team from getting rekt thanks to movement speed, but I HATE playing that way.
Most of the time the killer won't have an obsession perk anyway, though. One DS causes a random obsession to be chosen, after all.
-
They will normally get back to you once they've looked at it and say they need video evidence, I'd expect giving you the opportunity to give it.

How is Deathslinger broken in chases
Because he can quickscope, he needs only see a survivor to catch them. It's way too easy to secure a down with him.
Compare with the huntress who has to wind up, has slower projectile speed, has an arc, for example.

Helpful, as ever for this community. :)
If you rely on broken mechanics, you're the one that needs to git gud. :D

Yes! I googled more about desyncing and seems like that is exactly what happened. Thanks for the answer!
No problem!
-
Only issues I have are just how killer sided the latest map is and how broken the latest killer is in chase. Everything else has been fair, tbh.
I do like OhTofu's idea, which would give players of both roles some agency, even if teammates are potatoes: less safe pallets/areas, more pallets built for mindgames (basically like badham but without the broken form of the school structure) That said they'd also have to stop making maps so open, too.
-
Honestly between Urban and Self-Care, at least SC promotes doing something productive, even if it is a slow reset. The issue is that Urban Evasion is always used in conjunction with it and they are basically the 'I'm going to do nothing and watch my teammates die on the hook while I can see the killer on the other side of the map' build.
I don't see why Bond would annoy anyone; it's a great perk. It has multiple uses, including as a makeshift self-care if you really aren't comfortable being injured during the game as well as helping you to find other teammates on gens, to either rush the final gen/add pressure, to get information on what your teammates are doing so that you know what you need to do, to show you where teammates that can help you are when in a chase where you're in danger (especially good in a duo) and also to simply help you to avoid sandbagging teammates.
-
Either you or the killer desynced from the server. You can tell by the fact that he was stood where you would have been if you had kept running forward, rather than where you actually went. But this doesn't necessarily mean that either of you have internet issues.
The game on his end was still using the data from the last ping that he received on your inputs and then the game decided to favour him for the outcome of that period, likely because of 'favour the shooter'
This could be a number of issues, including the killer's own internet, but likely not tbh. They could also be using a VPN (cheating, basically, but probably not going by the start of that chase) which makes latency issues and desyncs much more frequent, though.
In short: the servers are horrendous. :D

I LOVE the spooky aspect that you don't completely know where the killer is at all times, that's no fun. The Doctor's is one of the creepiest
I don't care about knowing where they are, just knowing that they're near. Right now, you simply don't know unless you're already on top of them.
It's not fun when you consider how annoying the Doctor is, or how broken the Deathslinger is in chase.
-
They are definitely weaker than they used to be; they just learnt how to do the objective, which is something the game wasn't originally balanced with in mind.

Just curious if anybody shares this sentiment, but livestreams feel completely and utterly pointless aside from the few actual issues they may address. Lately, they feel like a little get together for the devs to crack jokes with eachother and then defend the flaws in their own game rather than consider why it may not be working. I know with the COVID pandemic right now, it may be difficult but this is a recurring theme in their updates. While I appreciate the things they do that are good for this game, it's starting to feel they're heavily outweighed by the flaws the devs acknowledge, but don't fix. It really feels like the devs don't care about the players experience as much as having the players, if that makes any sense. Either be more transparent and understanding with the playerbase instead of denying what may be wrong, or sell the game to a studio that can. I love this game so much but lately it has gotten ridiculous with what could be, but isn't.
You've literally described the outlook of the DBD team, at the very least.
-
He's OP, you definitely shouldn't regret.
-
I just hope they don't do it before fixing the music for Deathslinger, Doctor, Oni, tbh. They're too quiet to the point you sometimes can't tell there's a TR.
-
Ruin got buffed, not nerfed.
-
He's definitely a stealth killer, even without stacking the perk/add-ons.
And it really shows in when the game detects a chase. As him, it's so infuriating.

Michael (and Ghostface, too) have had broken stalk mechanics for over 4 months now. A survivor can be right next to you, right in the center of the camera, unobstructed, and the outline to stalk just straight up does not appear. It is ######### broken. I have lost countless games to this bug because it has prevented me from activating Evil Within III before they can reach a pallet or window, when I had them way out in the open. Please, this is ######### bullshit, if Survivors had a bug like this it would be fixed in 12 minutes yet Myers and Ghostface players have been waiting 4 ######### months.
I am putting this here instead of bug report threads because it has already been reported hundreds of times and is well known.
As soon as the devs delete the dedicated servers, their issues with stalking will be gone.

Nothing says fun like queuing up for 20mins for a killer to miss one hit and close the game down.
In what world are survivor queues still 20 minutes?
A month or so ago they suddenly improved, (in Oce and EU) and last night they were almost instant, at an off peak time, in EU.

Friend played "Get off your lawn" Hillbilly for a few games the other day, and one match people reported him for it and he was banned for 24 hours.
This is unfortunate, he got 2 kills playing this way and safety pipped but it made people angry that he played that way so apparently that is a punishable offense.
So people know what that is, you take the old man skin as Hillbilly and then move into a house on the map and defend that house; and if anyone comes near it or such you chase them off the lawn with a chainsaw.
Anyways, I was always under the impression that you could play killer however you wanted and it was fine, but apparently it's a bannable offense. While I personally think that is kinda lame and unfair; I imagine there are others that feel you are "ruining the game" somehow.
Just opening a discussion on this topic since I know I've played meme games a bunch as killer once in a while it helps me de-stress, but I am going to have to stop now that I know it's actually bannable.
How do you guys feel about these kinds of games?
So...he afked...which is bannable.
And if he didn't, then it wasn't a result of that game.

You didn't try because there won't be a video of him landing a BS hit on a survivor where he says "Oh that hit shouldn't have landed, I'm going to disconnect on their behalf and end my stream because that way it might get the devs to take notice and do something about the issues" he would just pick them up and throw them on a hook. Yet if the survivor disconnected after he landed a BS hit, I'm sure all the viewers would be VERY quick to stick the boot in.
Your pathetic attempt at defending childish behaviour failed.
He'll say it's BS, sure, but 9 times out of 10 a bunch of BS has happened on the killer's end leading up to that BS hit, so of course he's not going to then leave them be. But that doesn't mean they're not justified in killing themself on hook or DCing themselves, IMO. if the game isn't functioning correctly on a specific server, you shouldn't be forced to suck it up or get punished; you are supposed to be playing for fun.
-
I can't speak for others, but I have been pointing out that DCing in specific situations is perfectly fair and to lock people out with penalties while the game doesn't even ######### work was always going to be a bad move.
I basically quit the game for the most part this past month, apart from trying to do a few challenges the other day, and these bugs crossed with DC penalties are a big reason for it. The game is in such a bad position right now. And the irony is that during that day I had a game breaking bug that forced me to DC and came across a couple of games where they happened too, specifically that one where you get hooked but the animation doesn't finish and either you or the killer has to DC before the game will end. lol.

So, this should he a twitch clip of otz ragequitting because he was robbed of 2 things.
1. Being able to stalk for about 5 seconds
2. When the stalk finally went off, the game made him stop for a second, causing him to miss
I'm not here to say that "survivors OP PlZ nErF", but when otz, a DBD player that most people look up to, rage quits and then stops his stream from the bugs and glitches, you know that enough is enough.
Please BHVR, fix the damn glitches that have been in the game for months now. On both sides.
Incase you cant see the video:
Oh was that the first swing of the game glitch? The work around is to do a lunge right at the beginning of the game as you spawn, but it shouldn't be necessary.
I love Otz though and see frequent bugs that seem to force him to DC.
He was well justified in DCing here; the game literally was being unplayable for him as a result of the servers which the (incompetent, there, I said it) devs keep forcing on us despite the fact they know they're not functioning correctly.
-
Well if you're solo queue it's different to SWF. SWF tend to stack these perks abusively.
-
He just needs do not have such ridiculously low sens on scoping.
-
Idk, I find myself taking protection hits regularly and my survival rate the majority of the time is pretty high, and I'm very...average at the game.
-
@aregularplayer said:
if you can't fix gens speed, make stupid challenges that force survivors to play suicidal
Tbf, it's not gen speeds by themselves; it's map size making it incredibly hard to pressure the map outside of having a 3/4 gen. I mean, a good trapper will often never see one side of the map, for example.
-
@Might_Oakk said:
Couldn't figure out at first why survivors seemed to be constantly throwing games by taking hits while I was carrying someone with no chance of wiggle out over and over.
Pretty much a free 4k if one or more survivors are doing this challenge in your game.
I don't see why they don't run MoM + sabo + breakout...
-
@[Deleted User] said:
I haven't had a problem with sabo but I am tired of the keys. Don't really want to play Deathslinger anymore either.
deathslinger is great, but I agree keys are a big problem if you're taking into account the fact that after chase 1, 2-3 gens should be ready to pop. Especially with these damn challenges the devs keep getting told are idiotic.
-
As he pulls you in, the bar progresses. If you move to the side and it puts something in the way like a box, or even another survivor, it will progress much more quickly.
-
New sabo has made my life much easier; got me a 3k where I'd only get a 2k multiple times recently.
-
O rly? The number of times immersed survivors have camped pallets when I'm chasing someone else and randomly dropped it on my head, giving me the shock of my life, is insane.
-
While we're at it, remove them from PC.
-
He either needs to be 115 or not have a ridiculously low sensitivity on his gun; it's so jarring. I'd much prefer the sensitivity change, however a map like Red Forest most loops are high so he cant even use his power on them in the first place.
-
Well I'm moderately confused. ;)
Yeah, the patch notes were incredibly hard to follow. I gave up.
-
The instant dedicated servers begin functioning correctly, The Nurse will too, since her bugs are directly related to that.
Now if they could fix them rather than shoving them down our throats, that would be nice...
-
She's not too fun to go against since she renders quite a few perks useless if you don't cleanse, but she is far too weak for my liking too.
The buff we get next week may be enough to make her decent, though. We'll see.
-
This has been my experience on PC (Australia and Europe) for the majority of this past year.
I was relatively new to killer when I first began experiencing it, too. It's not fun to constantly go against SWFs that are blatantly miles above you in skill when you're learning a killer/doing a daily/simply running a fun build
-
Clown:obscuring vision and slowing just feels BS in a chase. He needs that toning down while giving him something more for map pressure. Idk how they can do that, but it's what he needs.
Freddy: Just makes for boring games
Ghostface: So many bugs make him unfun AF to play as and vs
Spirit: They nerfed the wrong aspects of her kits, hence not addressing what the issue with her was.
Doctor: Order/Calm/Restraint Add-ons remove so much nuance from the game and make the killer require much less skill than others, making for generally frustrating games. Also...vaulting windows, screaming and appearing back before it, and having the opposite happen when playing as him are so annoying.
I won't put Huntress on my list as I think she's really fun to play as and vs, when her hitboxes aren't the size of the map, which is caused by dedicated servers.

No it doesn't. Someone above claims it takes a month, and plenty can prove it doesn't after even a week unless it's bugged (which seriously wouldn't surprise me in all reality)

I can't comment in great detail at the moment, but the stats are showing that the DC rate is noticably down from where it was before the penalties were restored.
As with everything in statistics, personal experience doesn't indicate how the system works as a whole due to a lot of issues, one of which is that humans are desperately terrible at monitoring probabilistic occurances in their lives. I have this problem myself; this is in no way intended as an insult or an accusation of any kind. I was under the impression that there are a lot of key escapes. Checked the stats on that... no. There are in fact very few key escapes overall. :)
That's because those DCers now kill themselves on hook, or go afk on the corner of the map while survivors do gens...

Sure, but some should be designed to be the new meta, the game's getting really stale with the lack of good enough perks for people who like to play competetively. The last really good killer perk we got was Plague's Infectious Fright, that was almost a whole year ago, survivors are in a bit better spot, with the last meta perk being Nancy's Inner Strenght. (which is getting a counter this DLC) The meta needs shakeup in my opinion, so much so that I wouldn't be against disabling some powerfull perks for a duration of a chapter ...
Thrilling Tremors. :)

nerf on toolboxes? Lol.. You don't need toolboxes to finish a 2-3 gen in less than a minute on Big ass Maps.. Why are devs not addressing the real problem.. I would rather want them to make the Gen-speed slower while buffing the toolboxes, not the other way around.. Where the toolboxes are getting nerf, but the gen-speed is still the same at 80 seconds completion.. What a load of crap..
The real problem is map size, plain and simple. Every new map is huge, making it incredibly hard to pressure generators effectively.
