Asking it once per thread is plenty- if you didn't get a response the first time chances are you won't on your second or third.
Everyone here is trying to help the issue and helping to keep the thread alive in their own way. Posting a same comment doesn't differ from a comment saying just "up". Please don't come to this thread to discourage people from expressing their concerns, thank you. We all have different amounts of time to write different comments and getting this issue acknowledged. It shouldn't even have taken this long.

Here is a citation from the masterpiece Symptoms and consequences of neglect and ignorement towards console playerbase by Dr. Careman Carter
Emotionally neglected and ignored console players can have hard time coping in the fog. Ignored console players can feel that they need to take care of the performance issues by themselves but lack the inner resources for it. This is usually caused by an ignorement of optimization when coding up. If the rising BHVR of the console players have not taken care of basic code when coding up it can result in disorders called the spaghetticode or memory leakage that cause bugs, FPS drops and other serious symptoms in the console players' experience.
One recommended help to this situation is therapy by hiring a professional codepist to deal with these issues. Usually when a neglected console player has reached a foghood after years long period of low FPS, it can cause serious trauma and forgiveness can be hard to earn. Communication and opennes is the key when trying to fix wounds caused by improper optimization. If the neglecting and silence has continued for too long it is probable that a console player will feel abandoned by their BHVR. Neglected and abandoned console players might seek help from other developers that take care of their code and playerbase and such provide a properly performing environment for them to thrive in.

It is incredibly difficult to play this game with unpredictable teammates... Playing survivor in a SWF is pretty much a must for anybody that actually wants to rank up. Otherwise, they're just meming, or just happen to be a good set of 4 rank 1's (which is very rare).
Definitely not a must. I have played this game 29 months now and been a r1 22 months. I play 99 % of my games solo and 1 % in 2-man SWF with no comms. In addition to that I always play with 3 perks since WGLF is always in my build. My survival rate is about 66 %. And I never use keys or map offering. Survivor is EZ mode.
On the topic tho, yes those 3-man SWFs can be quite a-holes. Solo can be left to bleed out for 3 minutes or be left sacrificed to get the hatch spawn so they can escape with a key.
-
So I went in game to check just for you:
Go to settings -> controls and in interactions keep the "pick up item/interactions" at R1 and change the "actions" to your preferred button.
Enjoy the newfound control of your gameplay. :)

PS4 players: Who else is bloody sick of trying to heal in between a pallet and instead dropping the pallet AND/OR going for a vault/pallet drop and picking up a dropped item instead.
This get right up my nose.
You can already do that. I have pallet drop, vaulting and hiding mapped for square and others to R1.

I fail to grasp the point of your post.
Perhaps the green rank? Matched with red and purple survivors? That's just normal DBD to me, happens rarely.
For some reason it has replaced the "No" part of his name with the globe and it should only show globe for those from different platform.

Exactly, why play killer when the survivor fps drops I get are not as frequent.
Exactly.
I stopped playing killer since June except for the tome challenges. I even made a thread here asking about console optimization. No answer then, no answer now.
And no, saying that the thread will be looked at is not an answer and neither is saying that console optimization gets special attention regarding the NEW graphics.
"Yay we might get slightly better fps in 7 maps, even though the game rng wants me to suffer in fractured cowshed every other game."
The optimization is required for the whole game!

What if they gave consoles - quality and resolution settings for dbd like how pc has?
Id set my quality to low like everyone else on pc seems to do lol
This.
If they only gave us a patch that allows for BASIC OPTIONS in the menu, that would improve the horrible experience to barely manageable.
Then disable the fog, fog offerings, indoor maps/rainy red forest and halloween cosmetics until they have found the reason for the fps problem. This would maybe improve the game to satisfactory.
Waiting for the devs to start caring about their console playerbase...
-
Poor Trapper would finally be able to dead hard over his own traps.
-
Doesn't matter what people say. BHVR only cares about PC players and don't give a flying donkey poop about console players. So don't worry, they won't do console only crossplay even if all console players demanded it.
We exist only to make PC players' ques shorter and nothing else. Console players' horrible experience with 15 FPS is completely ignored. Concerns about fps differences and fairness were expressed in these forums before the implementation of crossplay and who listened; no one!
In addition to that, we have to listen bs from every other PC player, saying we're bad, horrible, boosted etc. not only in streamers' chats but here in the forums too, ignoring the 8 times worse FPS, overall performance and the lack of BASIC OPTIONS in the menu and forgetting how horrible performances we all have seen from PC players from youtube during these 4 years.
I will consider changing my opinion about the matter when the devs aknowledge the soon 800 comment thread in these forums and give us a clear answer IF they are going to fix the console version of the game and IF they claim they are going to do something about it the answer has better include an ETA. For the time being, I'm keeping crossplay turned off.
Sorry for the partial rant.

That’s like saying “imagine if my car salesman would divert their time to redoing my plumbing in my house”. Two different things. You could maybe argue diverting funds from cosmetic design to hiring people to work on optimization
I think that's what he meant, no need to nitpick if everything isn't said perfectly.
-
When I play killer on ps4, every other match the survivors burn a map offering. So they are very common and I have crossplay turned off.
My game always mysteriously crashes when they burn farm, Haddonfield or Ormond offering though.. Then they can go back to their 10 minute ques where as I get a new lobby in seconds after relauncing the game.

You mean someone who is one of the best and most knowledgable killers, who plays the game for a living, managed to get at least 3 kills every game? Especially now with all the boosted console players?
Wow. I'm so shocked, this revelation has now revealed and opened my eyes to how balanced a killer like Legion is. I can't believe I didn't realize Legion was secretly S tier this whole time.
"With all the boosted console players."
Haha, FYI he got those win streaks BEFORE crossplay, just with you boosted PC players as survivors.
-
Latency. Also if the killer has STBFL with full stacks, s/he can grab you after hitting you and before you can do the unhook.

Even in terms of multiplayer games I play r6s as well which unlike dbd doesn't look like a PS2 game and my FPS there is stable + generally just under 60. It's not a hardware limitation, just a pretty good job so far.
Same with For Honor and Hunt. Better looking graphics and good, stable fps on both.
The root of the problem is BHVR, not hardware.
-
I watched Otz's stream yesterday. Someone mentioned that fps is trash on console. His opinion was that the devs probably can't do much about our hardware limitations. That was kinda funny. I didn't know that DBD is graphically more demanding and beautiful (especially on ps4 pro) than TLOU 2, HZD, GoW, Ghost of Tsushima etc. Didn't seem like a big problem at least to him.
The problem IS NOT console hardware! The problem is that the devs are incompetent and ignorant. Why isn't a new professional hired to optimize the console version of the game? Current programmers of BHVR obviously ain't capable of that.

I haven't properly tested glowing charms but I have felt very slight worse frames with them equipped. It's probably a placebo, take them off if you want to.
From my experience the flames do not effect frames.
With the clown weapon, there's not much dripping, so while it will likely effect frames a bit it's not going to make a worlds difference.
For me the worst fps experience has been with Hag's Halloween body. It was so bad that my eyes hurt and I had to DC that match.

at least now these kind of console players are getting demolished against pc killers.
..I hate survivors. 🥕
Except a majority of those who abuse the aim dressing the most have turned crossplay off just for that reason. Some just cannot win without abusing a flawed game mechanic.
-
@supersonic853 said:
I play killer mainly on ps4 and its attrocious. Survivors have way better frames so its very easy for them to 360 even when i predict it because of lag spikes for no reason or the aim dressing being the dumbest thing to ever add.
Yes the aim dressing is so annoying and unfair. What makes it even more annoying is when the survivor is so bad at pathing and looping that they would go down in 15 seconds or so but because they know how to exploit the aim dressing they get undeserved second chances every game. The FPS makes that even worse.
-
Didn't you know that announcing things and never going through with them has been BHVRs business model for almost two years?
*cough cough... console optimization... cough*
-
You can also do it a bit easier:
Go to settings -> sound and screen -> video output settings -> resolution.

I know king had a PS4 and he's a pretty big fog whisperer. It would be cool to get like Otz or Tru3 to highlight the issue.
It would be nice. Samination and Puppers have streamed DBD on console too. Also the tournament (Into the fog) that was held thursday announced a ps4 streamer as a new fog whisperer. And even if the issue was brought up in a PC fog whisperer's stream like Otz's, he has several thousand viewers every stream so many players would become aware of the BHVR's neglect and ignoring of the issue.
-
Yes. I played two matches with 720p as Myers and it seemed a bit better. Felt like there was less stutter and the fps didn't seem to drop as much, although it still dropped every now and then. In the second match one survivor burned the offering lessening the mist so that might have helped. But in these two matches I had no 360 attempting survivors so I can't tell anything about that.

I'll probably try this later today, I'm surely skeptical right now but who knows...
Anyone tested it yet (on a regular ps4)?
I just tested a Myers match with 1080p on ps4 pro and upon activating tier 3, stutter/fps drop made me miss an earned hit and caused me to waste my first tier 3 completely and I lost the game. I now lowered to 720p and will play another match. Not a regular ps4 but thought I would share the first experience nonetheless.
-
Attention everyone! Here is a thread to possibly help with the console FPS:
@BigSpinners said:
So as a console player it is really frustrating to play on low frames. However I may have found a solution. To increase frames on the PS4 go to sound and screen and put your resolution down to 720p. This may decrease image quality slightly but will help the game run better. You can also turn off supersampling mode but I'm not quite sure if thats a pro only feature. Enabling boost mode on the pro will also boost performance.
I have taken all these steps and it has been running smoothly since. Hope it can help my fellow PS4 players enjoy the game as smooth as possible.
-
I love you.
Imagine that you have done more for console players in under 2 hours and with 1 thread than the devs have in almost 2 years.
-
I don't know, but I love the cleansing sounds the survivors make!
Feng sounds like a squeezy toy and samination's parody including it is so funny. Tapp though when he cleanses sounds like he should take a good amount of laxative...

Yes, that could work too!
-
One way this issue could be made more public is for someone from this thread who has registered to twitch (I haven't) to go to some fog whisperer's stream (for example Otz or tru3) and ask them if they could bring this issue up with the devs. McLean and not_Queen were at Otz's stream yesterday, so they are active (at least on things they care about = new content).
Devs can't stay silent forever if this issue gets enough attention.
-
The hallowed blight skins if equipped already make playing on console horrible, but the new killer has that oozing liquid by default so every match with him is going to be a slide show.
He is going to be literally unplayable on console because of already bad fps, his blight liquid dropping fps even more and his power requiring controls that allow sharp turns which isn't possible with controller.
Can't wait this awesome update /s.

I dunno what it's like to play as a survivor on PS4 against a PC killer, because survivor queues still aren't instant so I only bother like once a day, but...
It's kind of annoying to play killer and see four little global symbols in my lobby. It feels like my platform is being used to ease queue times for other platforms, and it doesn't benefit me because I had instant queue times as killer on PS4 before crossplay was enabled. Survivors on other platforms get the benefit of faster queues but as killer I didn't get anything except the possibility of going against opponents with better fps. Crossplay didn't come with/after console optimization. It also didn't come with cross-progression for PS4 and Xbox (and apparently cross-progression for these platforms may never come), which is the cross-progression most wanted because many console players would like to try out the better fps PC players get to enjoy. Many console players are pissed off.
I have gone afk so many times in the middle of a match because of the ridiculous number of frames the game will drop, especially as Doc. What fun, to chase a survivor, finally be ready to go for the hit, and then suddenly frames drop and it's worse than if they had used Dead Hard, not to mention it can happen numerous times in once chase. Seeing that 90% of my lobbies aren't even PS4 players anymore means I'm less likely to fight through the pain of bad framerates. We're all trying to play for fun, and that crap ain't fun to play through. Just an FYI for any survivors wondering why a killer may have quit/gone afk with four gens left: fps matters.
Edit: As an aside, a lot of survivors on console have figured out how to use aim dressing and the bad framerate against killers. Going against PC killers means this works less often, which may be part of the reason console survivors don't like crossplay. Just a theory.
I couldn't agree with you more. All of this feels very unfair and was implemented just to help PC players with their queues. Why are the devs neglecting the console players and treating them like trash?
For me the crossplay has brought only negatives:
-As a survivor with cp on my queue times are just as long as they were before cp but I have to be at an disadvantage because of fps
-As a survivor with cp off my queue times are longer than before because 3/4-man SWFs fill the queues and solos are forced to cp queue if they don't want to wait 10+ minutes
-As a killer with cp on my queue times are longer (but 3 min at most) than they were before cp and I have to be at an disadvantage because of fps
-As a killer with cp off my queue times are instant but there is nothing but 3/4-man SWFs left who abuse the hell out of aim dressing and fps drops. Solos are a rare sight because SWFs fill the queues and I think too that the reason is the fact that they know they can't abuse aim dressing and fps against PC killers so they opt out.
All of these options are bad for a console killer/solo survivor. Thanks BHVR.
-
You kinda anwered your own question by saying that those perks can be the sole reason you survive. That means you didn't survive/won because of skill, you survived/won because of uncounterable and design flawed perk combo. Over half the survivors are in high ranks because of those perks even though skillwise they belong to green/yellow ranks.
-
My experience today and yesterday has been the complete opposite.
And are you saying that dying light is a strong perk? That's like one of the best survivor perks the killer can run.
Also why survivors feel the need to run DS, DH, BT and UB/Adrenaline all at once?
-
I've played in a same team and against one forum user 3 times and my experience was the opposite. As survivor s/he sandbagged both times and as killer camped. These were before crossplay. Hopefully my experiences will be better in the future.
-
No one blames you for quitting killer. The game is still very unbalanced even after all the changes. I don't know what platform you played on but on ps4 in addition to the normal BS survivors also have the free dead hard/immunity with 360s that drop the killer player's frames noticeably and then they think they are "so good".
-
@Aneurysm said:
Has anyone tried queues on the usually quick ones with crossplay turned off - surv on pc and killer on console?
Killer que on console is instant with crossplay turned off.
-
I tried it multiple matches as survivor and decided to opt out. Maybe will try again tomorrow. PC survivors are just kissing gens and letting you reach stage 2 or they sandbag you. Killers played like total ######### compared to console killers. Now I'm not saying you have to follow the survivor's rule book for killers, but camping, tunneling and slugging with 1 AFK survivor or at 5 gens is not exactly a good first impression.

I feel like since the new update the performance of DBD on PS4 has significantly reduced, the frames I feel are really bad especially for killer and the time it takes to pick a survivor or killer is noticeably longer. Has anyone else noticed ?
Yes, I have noticed too. Like the FPS wasn't bad enough for consoles before. Next patch: 5 FPS and a new linked purple cosmetic. Priorities of BHVR.

They changed only the descriptions of some of the addons for Billy and Bubba in the hotfix yesterday but didn't actually change them. Probably another hotfix coming in a few days/weeks that fixes them to do what the new descriptions say.

Im at devotion 955. On console theres 2 different trackers, one says 1900 the other 4500, im guessing the 1900 is more accurate but idk. Ill say too i didnt REALLY start grinding for it till devotion 2. Before that i wasted a bunch of bps just trying to get all perks on everyone. I think 1 or 2 had them all before i said screw it and went in
Well done! Congrats!
What trackers are you using? I didn't know there even were trackers on console. I'd be interested to see my own hours. I have only estimated my hours to be +1500 and I'm devotion 9 lvl 75 which are close to yours. :)

As you can see No one is no skill because you still have to learn the base mechanics with some of the lower tiered and easier characters in the game.
From the bottom up Legion is just an m1 killer with an easy injure, if you learn the fundamentals from any other character you learn legion at the same time which means he is on average learned faster than other killers
Clown, Plauge, Bubba, and Wraith for the most part all play as m1 killers where pallets are effective means of deterrents against them and looping is still valid under certain circumstances unless the killer plays smart hence the lower skill gap because they still have play around potential
Myers, Pig, Executioner, Freddy, Friendly open faced flower also play as m1 killers but have their own gimmicks to strengthen them that you have to learn decently well to play effectively as them. Myers balances stalking with just straight up chasing, pig with slowing the game down now or waiting to do it later, executioner more for when to zone or not zone, freddy for when to teleport and where to place snares in chase, and demo on where to place portals and use shred.
Ghostface, trapper, doctor, spirit, and deathslinger all take some more skill because they rely on their powers to make up for their weaknesses and to gain advantage so have to use it smartly. Ghostface can use his power to sneak up, expose, or both at the same time, trapper has to decide which loops to close off with traps and where to place traps on the loops, doctor is big on timing and making effective use on addons, spirit while easy to play which really upsets people still requires a brain to play effectively especailly while sounds aren't working right now and death slinger for hitting shots and even perdicting out jukes.
Oni, Huntress, Billy can use their power to great extent but require a great deal of knowledge to get its full potency, oni has to learn loops and understand how to run them twice both in power and out of power, Huntress can hit cross maps that require timing, aim, and good judgement to even stand a chance of hitting, and billy can right now use his power on loops to cut off large parts of them and even hit survivors if timed well enough with a good curve.
Hag and nurse play completely different but also are in their own tier of potency and skill level, neither of them quite play the game like anyone else and thus take a longer time to learn because almost no skills transfer from other killers.
Overall no one killer no skill to play and this list could use a big revision to actually reflect the game
I'd switch places between Legion and Freddy and put Plague between Trapper and Doctor. Otherwise I agree with your list.
-
I'm guessing they are hiding it. The least they should do is tell if your skill is lower/slightly lower/equal/slightly higher/higher than your opponent/team. Because if BHVR really wants to listen to feedback (like they always tell they are listening) they definitely should give players some kind of indicator to track their skill so it is even possible to give the feedback in case the mm isn't working right.
-
I'm disabling the cross-play when it comes and gladly take the longer que times. Or I'll just play my other 36 PS4/PS3 games I haven't played yet. Cross-play without proper console optimization is big middle finger for the console player base.
-
Same perk pool for all players in an SWF group would be a reasonable change imo. No more stacking 4x4 second chance perks with coordination.
I personally would also go as far as limiting the amount of same item type. We all hate the combinations of 4 styptics/syringes, 4 BNPs, 4 sabo boxes, 2 BNPs with a map and a key etc.
Simple solo buff would be showing other survivor's perks and equipped items at the lobby. And each solo survivor could have one-time-use glass bead in each match that lasts one minute. Although that would make totems even more weak but devs should make them better hidden anyway.
-
1. Autoaim (the 5th survivor perk).
