Definitely agree. I don't mind that much if I know for sure that it is a solo or 2-man that has it but if it's 3-4-man I'm not going to play that match.
One main problem it has is that it doesn't even work how it's supposed to; you see the killer when you're looking at each other. Not true. I also think that it should have a fixed duration like Lucky Break. That way you have to choose when it is most important to get the value. After using up the seconds the perk deactivates. Maybe 20/30/40 seconds, definitely not more than a minute. It also shouldn't work during the first minute or two of the match.
Just my thoughts. I hope they rework the perk at some point. Game breaking and unfair and most importantly UNFUN. But since it's unfun for killers...

thats a fair point and I would agree on that. Spirit and Freddy are my least favorite killers to go against, Ghostface gets a dishonorable mention for being poorly coded, and Deathslinger with MAA is kinda cancerous too when the killer is good at quckscoping and or uses a built in crosshair in their monitor.
With Ghost Face reveal, you have to have him in the middle of your camera NOT ONLY horizontally, but ALSO vertically and make sure your character model isn't covering him. You also have to see a part of his body to be able to reveal him, you can't reveal him if you only see his mask.
The problem with Deathslinger isn't M&A, the problem is that the first chords of his terror radius are so low in volume and so, you hear it too late. General advise is that if you don't know who the killer is always be alert and look to different directions at regular intervals.
-
Well, she does require more skill than Freddy that's for sure. And I would say that without stridor, she requires quite a bit of skill in prediction (and otherwise too), especially against iron will users.
-
No. New changes punish skillful play.

Do you think people who are ok with it will en mass make posts about how its all fine the way it is? you make posts when you are outraged and demand change.
Its the vocal minority, heck most players of this game dont even have a forum account sooo yeah.
I agree that it SEEMS what the devs did was a bit too harsh, but I think we should really discuss this after a month or so of REALLY trying to make it work.
Okay, that's your opinion.
I think a month (if the changes are released as they are now) won't change how players feel about the new power. I trust more Otz and tru3 who spend hours each day testing new changes. These changes just need to be toned down since they lower the skill ceiling of Billy tremendously. Punishing skillful play is not a way to make a PvP game.

completely baseless claims.
We already have charges on Bubba now, variety is the spice of life so no, lets not also put charges on another chainsaw wielding killer.
Right now you can see it pretty much working the same as your suggestion but with more nuance, more analogue, just be mindful of the heatmeter when using him
Not completely baseless since I've been reading the discussions daily and followed a few streamers since the dev update was posted. Just go through the general discussion pages and read the discussions.
Like I said in the post: I was trying to describe the SCALE of what the changes should have been. I'm not saying it has to be just like this. What the devs did was too harsh.

An overstatement. From my experience most survivors don't play like this. If anything it's 30%. But you're right, I missed that part.
On PS4 where there's nothing but SWFs, closer to 60-70 % of survivors play like this in red ranks. Fortunately there's no end game chat on console.
-
I'm actually in a process of collecting matches/videos where autoaim and FPS screws me over and compiling them to one video. It actually looks so horrible when you look at them slowed. The "aim dressing" just turns the killer about 30-40 degrees to the side from the survivor you're trying to hit. It's so ridiculous and I'm actually quite baffled and offended how ignorant the devs are about such a crippling feature and overall console optimization. If I ever finish my project I'll share it here.
-
The FPS problems are just as bad on PS4 pro version than normal version. The problem is in the code, not the hardware. And autoaim (or aim assist or animation enhancement or whatever the devs are calling it) screws killers very much. 360s are cheap as hell and drop the killer's frames every time. What they should do is to remove the current autoaim.
-
Agreed. If they keep the overheat then the bar should be increased to 20 seconds. What is also ridiculous is that it is more beneficial to intentionally overheat your chainsaw before hooking a survivor. Feels the same as reloading your bottles as clown. This went overboard so badly.

Trying to beat her on Akumu mode almost broke my sanity.
Ooh the Akumu mode. I did my Evil Within platinum trophy in January. I also killed her with a the tactic where you burn every body except one and then she always spawns in that. Then just fire harpoon to the head. The parts that broke my sanity was the burning building and the construction site/harpoon snipers part. Those felt so cheap at times. It think it took me like over 30 retrys/deaths to get through them.

I suggested him to be added to the game in the survey. I thought the name "Executioner" would have fitted better for the Keeper since his DLC is also named The Executioner. He would be a perfect fit since his lore already gives him a way to travel the map (teleport and spawn to the safes). He could have a power burst when he hits his head with the hammer and it would change his weapon to the bodysack (a hybrid of the Oni and Myers).
I'm glad that someone else too has thought that the Keeper would be a good addition to the game. :)
-
Yeah this nerf went wayyy too overboard since the only problem was the instasaw.
I bet Huntress is next considering how much her ultra rare is hated.
Personally I hope they do something about Freddy's snare spamming and passive sleep timer since they actually don't require any skill unlike Billy or Huntress.

I play on both sides but anyway I remember my first hate message😂.Some guy played as the killer and got mad saying that I wasted his time and that I was trash and @ss.During the match he sent me a friend request hoping I’d be dumb enough to exit the game to check it I just kept on dodging😂.
It's unfortunate that some players are so childish. I also play both sides but twice as much survivor compared to killer. I have never gotten hate mail from killers but I've gotten plenty from survivors. One can only dream that some day R-rated games will require a verification of age.
-
Yesterday some childish brat (Meg) bodyblocked me and sabotaged a hook so that his/her friend escaped my grasp and teabagged on top. So when I got that survivor to the basement I proxy camped, slugged and tunneled her. After the match I got a friend reguest message to which I never reply to. Said I was bad etc. even though I killed them all with Wraith who I haven't played in over 8 months and generally have very little experience with him.
Since that survivor didn't get to me s/he reported my profile to Sony. I had a quote from TLOU2 which included a word d*ck and my profile got moderated for that. Well, from now on I have a mori with that player's name on it in case I'm so lucky I get that survivor to my lobby again.
Never have had this petty players in any other game but DBD is something unique.
So yes, if a survivor wants to deny killer something deserved, then it is okay to return the favor.
-
At least on console, when a killer hooks a survivor the game massively drops frames, which then causes the skill check needle to skip half of the circle, usually resulting in failed skill check. Optimization is a joke in this game.

Psssh. I bet Ripley would have teabagged the Alien Queen if her cargo loader could crouch.
Ripley was so smart that she wouldn't have wasted time doing something so pointless.
-
I don't want Alien since this game ruins the immersion of scary horror monsters. Like, YOU JUST DON'T TEABAG THE ALIEN! Alien instakills you if s/he finds you. It just doesn't fit to this "horror"/bullysimulator game. Just no no!

Noed and Adrenaline aren't even close to analogies. Noed is a catch up perk. Adrenaline is a reward for finishing your objective.
Yes, they have that difference (reward vs catch up), but all of those perks either grant or take a health state so in that regard they are two sides of the same coin.
-
I'd like to add one pro to each:
SB: You can get value out of it before you are hit with killer's exhaustion addons
DH: You can survive with it when you are exposed so hooksaves during NOED are possible.I haven't used SB in ages. I use DH occasionally but usually switch it off because of the amazing exhausted on the ground effect. I have been using more BL lately but most of my games I play without an exhaustion perk and do just fine in solo que.
Edit. Noticed that you already mentioned that DH pro.
-
Happened to me on PS4 too a couple of months ago! I was like wow, they truly must be planning to make this game an M1/R1/RB simulator.
-
I prefer maps, but sometimes use detective's hunch too. I usually have too many green maps and since you lose the addons after match I can find chests and get an item I want more with detective's. I don't use small game since I hate the sound it makes.
-
During the anniversary event a lot of people who usually play survivor will play killers because they want to get the crowns. It will go back to normal when the event is over.
Also many people (me included) likes to play killer during the day and late afternoon since the matches are more fun and not so sweaty because the sweaty/toxic SWF groups haven't started to play yet. After 7PM I usually change to survivor, even though I have to wait longer for a match.
-
Just wait until you are in a lobby with another Dwight(s) and go meme around. It usually melts the killer's heart. ❤
-
They don't even answer questions about the optimization, they just ignore everytime someone asks about it. I made a thread about this same issue yesterday. I'm just not gonna play killer anymore until they release an optimization patch for console.

Same thing on PS4. Cannot view anyone's profile.

I started playing on PS4, then went to PC. Trying to go back to PS4 though is terrible. The difference the low and inconsistent FPS makes, particularly when playing killer is really noticable. Survviors know they can exploit 360s on console, and will do so, to lose the killer/make them whiff their attack. This just doesn't hapen on PC, because you can track them much more easily.
I usually prefer console gaming, but I've given up trying to play DBD on PS4. BHVR said back in March 2019 they'd be targeting 60 fps on console, but have been quiet about it since. I think either they just don't know how to do it, or the development resources aren't being sufficiently allocated to fixing the poor performance (and bugs that affect all platforms).
My thoughts exactly. Couldn't agree with you more. It's actually very unfair that a survivor can exploit a performance problem of the game to win and intentionally cause the FPS drops for the killer if they want to.
I posted this comment before but it disappeared after I edited out a typo.
And about that march 2019 talk/promise about the 60fps, I think it's quite rude from BHVR to ignore a very large portion of their player base for OVER A YEAR and not give any information. In their satisfaction surveys I have always given them critic about their communication with the community. I think it's time for console players to start demanding answers.
Isn't there some way to tag a dev member in this forum?

I play on Xbox, and while i notice some performance issues here and there I've never found them to prevent me from playing the game, until the last month or so. As survivor, I have far too often been hit by a killer who seems to be 20+ meters away. As a killer, and I've only noticed this recently, I'll be chasing someone and about to hit them when they vanish instantly and end up somewhere behind me. But it's pretty infrequent. Well, the second thing. The first thing happens a lot.
That first problem sounds more like issues with dedicated servers. The second one though happens to me when a survivor makes a 360 and my frames drop more often than not and makes me miss my hit even when I adapt to it at that moment. Add the infamous "aim dressing" to that and you feel like a fool.

I've been playing on console since the release 3 years ago. Since then, the performance on console got steadily worse.
Let's look at it from a realistic point of view: If the devs wanted to and/or knew how to fix the performance issues, they would have done it by now.
Yeah, I have been thinking that too but still try to be hopeful. It's just baffling that BHVR is doing so well and they have the money and resources to hire coders to fix the game but for some reason bit just gets worse.

The frames are really that bad on console? Right now im playing on a $350, 3 years old laptop and i am playing with 30-35 fps with 0 res and low graphics.
I was thinking to get a ps4 or an xbox one since the new consoles are making their entrance in a few months, so this generation will cost less, but i think i am gonna buy a SH pc or something, for 300 bucks i will be able to play this game with 60+ fps, ultra graphics, 1080p.
They are really that bad. You are better off sticking to PC when playing DBD. As for other games I can recommend console. No other (online) game performs this poorly. No problems with Hunt, For Honor, Resistance, Star Wars Battlefront, CoD etc. Only DBD. :(

Survivor? Hit by any status effect!? Enjoy your negative frames. Especially if it's sloppy butcher or Freddy putting you to sleep.
Decided to play killer? Enjoy your zero FPS when you bloodlust or when an active totem is broken or when you do most of your basic killer abilities.
It's laughable honestly. I don't know how they got it running but I truly hope they fix it soon.
Sounds too familiar.

Well they should because the transition to next gen consoles will not happen in one night, especially if their price is over 550 EUR/USD as speculated. As a customer I think they are obligated to offer a product that performs as it should.

Had a match a couple of months back where I brought a med-kit that had charges for two heals. I was last survivor alive, had half of the charges left and was healing myself. Just when I was almost healed I got a skill check and my med-kit ran out during the skill check. It failed of course, even though I was technically already healed (but the skill check took a portion of my health) I was left injured and here comes the killer. If your healing bar fills to the FULL and you get a skill check to an action that you can only do with the item that runs out, that is BS.
And I have also gotten the "I hear heartbeat I go hide" -skill check reguralry. It's also nice when you get a skill check the moment the killer hooks a survivor and your game drops frames so you miss it. Free BBQ!
-
Tier 33.
I have 10 unclaimed level 1 challenges and 11 unclaimed level 2 challenges so that's about 9 tiers I get when I finally claim them. Almost done with level 3 survivor path and I'm also going to save as much as I can from this level in case I want to buy the silent hill chapter. The last 2 tomes left me with about 4 levels to grind xp after doing everything so that's probably going to happen this time too.
-
And one other benefit from pink map or green map with twine:
You see traps. With map you can check if a window is safe to vault when a Trapper chases you. You can go trigger Hag's traps when she's elsewhere or avoid traps in chase.
-
Green map with the red twine and stamp/hatch addon is VERY useful. Pink map with stamp and crystal/glass beam even more useful, especially in solo survivor games. With Inner Strenght the value of a map is even higher.
I personally love glass beam because I can mark hex totems with it if I happen to see it in a middle of a chase so my teammates can go cleanse it. It's also very useful on marking the most central generator at the start of the match to avoid 3-gen. At the end of the game I can mark an open exit gate with it for survivor who got rescued and might not have been able to focus when the exit gates were powered. I LOVE MAPS. I wish they were more common.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/157085/statistics-of-80-solo-survivor-games
"Killers got on average 7 hooks which isn't enough to pip. This is probably also because of busted matchmaking."
This is pretty much a false statement tho. 7 hooks is enough to get a pip, that should be at least 2 sacrifices(especially if 1 hook ended up taking 2 hookstages, which I am kinda leaning towards, since 7 hooks on average wouldnt be 1,8 sacrifices on average. Hookstates matter more than hooks themselves). You said you ignored DC's too, but did you ignore DC games or just the DC itself? Because a DC essentially counts as a sacrifice for the killer.
Either way, im guessing the average Devout emblem would be very close to silver on average. Iridescent Chaser is pretty much guaranteed if you're not facing an optimal team, Malicious tends to be around Gold too, and Gatekeeper should be silver-gold on average.(its either bronze or gold/iri, there isnt really much of an inbetween). So lets say silver on average. Thats 12-ish emblem points on average. Which up untill red ranks is enough to pip. Considering your average killer was purple rank, they definitely should have pipped in the average game.
But lets throw all that aside, and reconsider something:
For a survivor there are many reasons they can lose a pip:
- killer being afk with insidious(which depipping killers tend to use, but the issue is that they also depip any and all survivors they face)
- the killer being generally bad, I cant get a pip when the killer fails to hook and injure people.
- the killer being incredibly good, which is fine, if he can finish a chase within 20 seconds and doesnt give us the option to heal up, we lose a pip
- being sacrificed early, or being mori'd ASAP
- fellow survivors DC, making the game much harder to win if the killer takes advantage of the DC(which is a bit of an ######### move, I mean, imagine you couldnt damage 1 of the survivors, ever, and that survivor takes advantage of that and constantly bodyblocks you, you would consider them quite an ######### too, but ofcourse if you were in their shoes, you'd probably want to take some advantage out of it).
- fellow survivors constantly screwing you over, which isnt as common, but its common enough to lose pips over.
The list goes on and on, and all lead to you not being to complete enough objectives to get your safety pip, while a killer is almost guaranteed to get their safety pip.
Why does this matter? Net pipgain.
The net pipgain of killers is consistent and doesnt rely on others, it relies on their own ability and its always greater than 0 every single day. Survivor pips rely too heavily on everyone else in the game, and could one day have a net pipgain of -5 while the other day they could have a net pipgain of +10. I can theoretically lose 10 pips in a row, deranking from rank 1 to rank 4 as a survivor, and only 1-2 of those would actually because of my actions. Me as a killer, even against an optimal SWF, could still earn a safety pip. A killer NEEDS to be heavily outmatched or AFK to actually lose a pip.
When I wrote the post I based that statement to my own experience and knowledge of the game. I don't remember a match where I would have pipped with 7 hooks and nearly always even 8 hooks hasn't been enough to pip. 9 hooks seems to be the sweet spot where I have usually gotten a pip. But I play in red ranks so in green and lower ranks that is probably possible because of lower emblem requirements. Personally I don't think the killer had a good (or a bad) match if s/he got 7 hooks.
In red ranks the killer needs 9 emblem points to safety pip and 13 points to pip and in purple 8 and 12 respectively.
7 hooks grant 8 devout points IF the killer hooks every survivor at least once or gets 1 kill. 7 hooks can grant 9 devout points if the killer gets 2 kills. 7 hooks can even result in 10 devout points which is iridescent devout emblem but that means 3 survivors die on 2nd hook and the 4th on 1st hook which happens rarely with either slug build killer or genrushing non-altruistic teams. Reaching 2nd state on 1st hook grants points in the malicious, not devout category (if you don't believe me, go check the wiki). But lets say the killer gets lucky and gets the golden emblem which grants 3 points.
Within these stats all gens were done in over 80 % of the games but it took over 9 minutes. Since there was no crazy genrushing on average, it's safe to guess the killer got at least silver emblem in gatekeeper on average which grants 2 points.
All one-shot killers suffer in chaser and malicious categories and some normal killers too, such as trapper and plague. Silver emblems in these categories are extremely common for more than half of the killers in this game. Silver emblem grants 2 points in the pip system. That's 9 points.
So yes, 7 hooks might be just enough in purple ranks if you're using non-one-shot killer, how common that is only devs can know for sure. More probable outcome tho is a safety pip. If we acknowledge the fact that matchmaking has been busted since December, killers have been having a hard time pipping lately since green and early purples usually don't stand a chance with good red rank survivors.
I checked and there was actually only 1 DC in my games, it was at the start of the match and it was still a 5 gens done and 2e (rank 8 killer). I didn't consider it to neither sacrifice or escape.
Since this matter goes off-topic and you seem to be worried about survivor pipping compared to killer pipping, I suggest you make a new discussion about it. My experience is that pipping in general in this game is easy enough (too easy on the survivor side I might say).

What? Self Care is still the most common survivor perk? NERF.
Seriously though, while stats are interesting I do think that they shouldn't be taken as seriously as some people take them. For instance, you have to pay real world money for DS.
Actual. Cash. To unlock a perk. And it is, in most of these stats, just behind SC. A perk on a default character is only just more common than a perk from a paid dlc that never seems to rear its head in the shrine. THAT is what I find interesting, and what people should take into consideration. In fact, it's the only non-free perk up there in this stat block, and for killers it's BBQ at the top. Another paid perk that has reared its head maybe twice. But why is it there? How strong is it? Is it actually OP or do people just like double BP? Why do killers have more non-free perks/teachables than survivors? Why don't survivors have any Iri shard (so to speak) perks in the top 10?
That's an interesting point. Although on console the base game contains Nurse, Hag and Doctor, but I know they are DLC on PC. So that in mind Pop is the most popular shard perk on console, but not nearly as popular as DS. I think the second most popular paywall perk after BBQ might be STBFL. That was used only in 5 games tho. But yeah, DS being payable perk and still that populat tells that it is a strong perk.

4.6 gens average with 80% of the matches having selfcare? Impressive tbh
I'm also baffled of the amount of SC used. But I have also noticed some smart players with it that look for teammates if there is Sloppy Butcher present. Of course there's still the occasional corner self carer sometimes.

For the Hooks stat, did you only count when the Killer hooked a Survivor, or did you also include when a Survivor went from one hook state to the next (summon phase to struggle phase, and struggle phase to sacrifice phase)?
If those hook stats are accurate, then it's pretty clear how weak Killers are. Killers complete 7/12 of their objective, on average, while Survivors complete 4.5/5 of theirs.
I only took the hooks and not the entity summoned events. This is because I watched the videos 10x fast forwarded and only counted the hooks in the UI. But I remember that there was not very much of those, maybe 10 or something and I myself died on 1st hook maybe 2 or 3 times. I checked and if I added 15 hooks to the total, the average amount hooks was still only 7,14.

Keep in mind that killer is more difficult on a controller than mouse and keyboard.
Interesting stats. The average time is similar to my killer games in the red ranks, with the difference that they end up with 2 or 1 gens left and obviously 3/4ks.
Yes I know killer is harder on controller, I play also killer about 30 % on my games. On PC the kill rates are probably slightly higher. If they ever optimize console properly, the kill rates on console are going to rise.
There were a few games where 5 gens were done but the killer still got 3k or 4k.
