  • I don't think exhaustion perks should do ANYTHING while exhausted. That said, I wouldn't mind if BL didn't have any stagger when not exhausted. I find it weird that I have to endure the landing while using BL before I can start sprinting.

    You are boring.

Stop asking for really strong Killer Perks to be Basekit without any explanation. If you want to run Corrupt Intervention, give up a Perk Slot for it. If you dont think it is worth it, dont run CI.

I'm going to go out on a really crazy limb here and say that I actually don't see the big issue with CI being basekit, though I would make it a lesser form (maybe only two gens blocked and CI would block a third for the normal tier times). It's actually not strong on ALL killers, and it doesn't always even work as intended. It would potentially solve the issue of how slow and rough a trial can be from the start of the match as well.

That said, I'd also want to make a lesser form of Kindred basekit for Survivors as well, which would help Solo Q with intel issues and how they don't perform at SWF+comm levels. Maybe a version where they can see the Killer but not each other, and running Kindred would increase the radius as well as show the other Survivors.

I can totally get anyone not liking the idea, but I DO think some drastic measures will eventually need to be taken to start combatting some of the problems with overall gameplay.

  • Medicine used to be much worse, so stop asking for medicine to be better.

    Yep, the logic checks out.

RPD might become the most universally hated map in the game. Hopefully the Devs will look at the DCs and AFKs and think "the problem is the map!" and not "harsher system needed!"

It just goes to show that, like The Game, Badham and Farm maps, a new coat of paint doesn't make them fun, especially if your gameplay design revolves around rank 15.

Seriously, I've been depipd so hard as both sides that I'm hovering around rank 9-10 and I always see my teammates beating on killers. They didn't balance them around average, mediocre players.

Edit: also, stealth killers like Pig are theoretically the best killers for that map. How sad

Well, the maps layout is basically set in stone by Capcom, so any modifications to it likely were rejected. This also means that they probably won't be able to modify the layout later, so the most it can get is a graphical overhaul, which is certainly doesn't need.

It's a licensed map. This is how it will always look.

  • Actually, Siege had that same issue. Low ping players could run into a room and shoot opponents without presenting a target due to low ping.

They changed how priority works with hit detection to fix it. It still sometimes shows up, but it's nowhere near as bad as it once was and minimally makes a difference.

  • I don't hate Dead Hard. Hell, if someone uses to dodge a hit, I shake my head at them in approval as I chase them down. It's impressive.

When used at a distance to extend a loop or make a vault, pallet, whatever, it's lame. I don't hate on it, but it deflates my bubble-butt fun balloon.

  • Watch someone else play so I can delight in their misery.

  • The core gameplay loop needs to be redesigned as well.

Also, the engine itself isn't really the issue, it's how the devs are using it. An engine upgrade wouldn't hurt, but how they use it matters. Plenty of other games use Unreal Engine 4 without these kinds of issues.

Honestly I think it would be worth it. People who legit DC would be punished but what % of DCs are legit? I'm guessing 10%. I think punishing the 90% that do it on purpose is worth it.

I mean, if you like punishing innocent people...

I think there should be like back pay. All the people who have been dcing on purpose get slapped with a month ban lmao

That would punish people with legitimate crashes because of the games poor optimization as well. So, it would do the very thing it was deactivated to avoid.

  • I agree with the sentiment of this thread.

The game should be designed around an enjoyable gameplay loop. It's not the players fault that effective methods are also boring and toxic. It's the games and devs fault for being designed that way.

Are there ways to address these issues? Yes. The game would change a bit and would be rather different than it is now. I don't expect to ever see these kinds of changes, though.

  • Just came out of a match where a Huntress just downed someone and hovered over them to let them bleed out. She attacked anyone that got close, and would down him instantly if we managed to get him back up. We ended up having to leave without him, still bleeding on the ground for her pleasure.

Before that, it was a pretty standard camping Bubba.

Not all Killers have been like this, but it hasn't been the best. On the flip side, every match I've been in has either been REALLY bad players getting killed with 4 gens remaining, or a complete gen squad that gets everything done in 5 minutes. I haven't seen a "normal" match all day.

Killers have been playing this way long before the event, lol. If anything, it shows there is such an abundance of toxic killers that it doesn't even feel lessened too much despite a lot of survivors playing killer now and being more fair.

??? Ah... hmmm.... huh? Not attacking, just surprised to read this coming from you. Or is this sarcasm?

Their next post stated it was sarcasm.

  • I've been mostly playing Survivor since I hate long queue times.

So far, it's either been super sweaty killers or Survivors that steamroll in 5 minutes. The only time that hasn't happened is when the Survivors were so bad they were basically throwing themselves at an early demise and the game ends with only one gen done.

I feel for both sides, truth be told. Neither side is playing nice right now. I just want to loop Killers and smack my ass every time they whiff a swing. I can't even get that.

What you're saying is the other strong builds require the player to actually be good. Got it, but we all knew already this is the "i can't play killer" build

That's not what I said, but whatever. You do you.

  • Long floppy hair bugs. Kills my sides from the laughter.

  • Claiming the crown counts towards the community goal AFAIK. Whether or not you can wear it is another matter entirely.

  • Nea, because she's stronger than the Killer could ever hope to be.

  • @DwarvenTavern said:

That's actually a pretty good estimate. His power could ever be growing just like Nemesis too. Pyramid Head might have a power edge, but something tells me Nemesis would mutate to try to match that, but if Pyramid Head seems to get stronger as well, he would probably match the mutation and so and so. It could just be an endless battle

Ya. Another thing to factor in is the nature of what getting hit by Pyramid Head actually does. We know in the game that it's a one hit kill. You don't get a mulligan against it. We know that when someone else uses the Great Knife, it's not a one hit kill. It's STRONG, but it's not a one hit kill. So, that brings up an obvious question: Does his strength even matter when he hits you with it, or is simply the act of getting hit by the Great Knife while he wields it a supernatural deathblow? We simply don't know. Pyramid Head is basically powered by extremely powerful demonic and psychic forces. They can warp reality, create realities, all that jazz, and he's firmly at the top of the worst things you can deal with when those forces turn their attention towards you. As such, we simply don't know if his attack is always supposed to be instant-death.

That would bring up the next, and most telling question: Against a supernatural force that can warp reality, can Nemesis take a blow that is demonically and psychically crafted to be instant death? These same demonic forces can bring the dead to life, decay reality itself, create new life and realities, and put their power into a big knife that a dude with a torture cage on his head carries around for the explicit function of being your self judgment and executioner. Nemesis would need to be able to outright withstand reality altering poop-fartery if that knife is supernaturally ordained to simply kill anything it hits when Big Angry Man hits them with it.

At the end of the day, there isn't really enough information about what Pyramid Head actually is or does that would come to a conclusive answer.

Thing is there are *other strong builds that work on him too. No need to be a copy paste blight

The other strong builds have specific interactions they are designed to deal with or excel at. Depending on the Blight player, those scenarios might not be as important as target acquisition or game slowdown. It just depends on the player. The Basic Blight Build is globally strong for players simply looking to play Blight, without any emphasis on utilizing special interactions.

  • It should just be a Naruto cosplayer throwing plastic stars. Bonus points for Cheetoh dust and randomly yelling out his attacks with a cracked, nerdy voice.

  • Technically speaking, we don't really know how much damage Pyramid Head does with the Great Knife. In his hands, one hit is a kill. While the player character can use it, they cannot use it with the same power that Pyramid Head can. What limited media exists that shows PHead using it on other people/things, it's devastating. It can tear through metal and concrete as if those things aren't even solid. It just goes right through. PHeads strength is also rather hard to quantify. Sometimes, he seems to carry things around like their weight is a burden, but he has also been seen throwing around the exact same objects as if they were as light as blankets. He may drag a human body around, but then he just lifts it over his head and throws it like it's a basketball. So we don't really know how strong he is. Add to all of this that his capabilities might simply be variable, based on what he is up against and what the intention is.

As such, I don't think there is a clear way to compare the two, but POTENTIALLY, Pyramid Head is much stronger simply because he may have no limits to strength and overall power, as its variable nature suggests it could be anything.

  • I don't mind it, I just learned to play against it. Also, the Basic Blight Build doesn't really hinder the best thing about him, which is chase interaction. It just means you will get chased more often, which is fine so long as the rest of the team is doing their job. Even if you keep him chasing you around one gen that you nearly finished, that makes him have to give up other gens if he wants to continue chasing you.

Now, there's the issue of Blight being able to do insane turns around corners if played in a particular way. I don't much care for those. When played as intended, however, I think Blight is fine. Also, The Basic Blight Build is mostly good for getting good with him, but other builds are actually better for dealing with people that have experience against Blight. BBB is solid, but it's not a do-all-end-all. It's really just there to cover some of his weaknesses a bit by boosting his strength outside of a chase. Once the chase starts, however, Blight is Blight, and that's when he's generally at his most fun.

All that said, if you want to see more variety from Blight, and Killer loadouts in general, then Killer perks need a shake up so that they don't settle in a pretty concrete meta. I'm sure a lot of Killers would love to try out different builds if they weren't almost a guaranteed hindrance.

  • "People are leaving the game"

Steamcharts: DBD has 90,000+ players, beating some of the most popular PC games on the market.

    Ya, nah, they aren't leaving.

  • Most fun is Blight, followed by Oni. Huntress is third depending on map RNG.

Least fun is Clown. Pyramid Head isn't particularly fun either.

  • Trickster took a chapter to get "buffs", which were them just choking the numbers on his current gameplay down a bit. Nemesis likely won't fair any better.

  • They could have buffed him to make him more nuanced, as well as put game slowdown into his kit. They didn't. They decided to keep his TARGET LOCKED ON nature, but make it all happen faster. All this does is make his current methods a bit faster, but also more punishing if you can't keep it up. Furthermore, rather than make Main Event something that can be more reliable, it's now less reliable. It will show up less often due to needing more knives to charge it, and when it DOES show up, the less knives needed to down means it would probably be easier just to use his normal knives to secure a down rather than flip on a special ability.

This is a buff to his current playstyle, which people complained was boring and obvious. It's a nerf to the problems he has, which is the inability to change targets without penalty and make long term plays. He has NO capability to do these things without suffering some kind of statistical loss.

I will likely try him out to get a feel for his current gameplay, and I'm sure that he'll feel less punishing when taking Survivors down in an open area. However, none of the previous issues with him have been addressed at all. Laceration decay was and still is a mistake. It could be handled in a way that gives him long term snowball potential, slowdown, and interaction from the Survivors. It has none of that. It could have, it should have, but it doesn't, and the devs seem like they will never give it that. I don't get why they are afraid of making him fun for both sides and giving him more viability over a longer period of time, and instead choose to buff him for "quick downs right now" with no long term strategy possible.

  • Clown. I always get tunneled out by Clown. No clue why. Rarely see him, but when I do, I'm running down a tunnel forever.

Close second is Ghostface. I always seem to get a Ghostface that will spend the whole trial chasing me. He's easier to loop and bully, though.

  • Add inner strength and spine chill to the list.

Inner strength makes you do Totems to heal, but it does far more good than self care. It's faster, safer, get a side objective done, gives BP.

Spine chill let's you almost always know when the killer is coming your way, so you can plan out your play in advance. It also does a compete number on stealth killers. In top of all that, it gives passive bonuses on some actions while the killer is looking your way, but the big thing will always be knowing that they're coming.

  • I think it's fair to say Trickster is in the top 5 worst without being the absolute worst. He had some strengths, and can function a bit beyond being a standard m1 killer. He's still weak as hell and needs fixing, though.

  • @Anniehere said:

    I know right?

    1) Manners.

    2) I love how DCers always claim a game will 'die' if they're not allowed to DC. It's the opposite; if people can DC, the game will die, because no one can finish a match, so people say the game is not worth playing because they CANNOT PLAY IT THROUGH, and so less people play, and the game dies.

The person you are quoting was likely pointing out that current issues with consoles crashing would make DC penalties come off as, well, not good. BHVR released an update, it now crashes last gen consoles, nearly burned and bricked several others. If those players were also putting up with DC penalties, then it would not be far-fetched to think they could lose faith in the game and its developers, which would lead to a decline in traffic.

I'm assuming you missed this context. If not, and you actually think that people should get DC penalties because an update to the game is now crashing last gen consoles like it's a destruction derby... ya. That's not a good look.

  • Viable is a very flexible word. To be viable, a Killer needs to be able to perform the base killer functions.

Is he viable? Overall, yes. All killers are viable. Is he viable against a strong team. Not really. He essentially has a limit of impact he can provide which is less than the results the survivors can push. Is he good? No.

As for buffs, I have started too many times the changes I would make. I doubt it will happen, however.

  • Eh. He's not good, but can do ALRIGHT if you have a tight build and don't mind his inability to break a chase or change targets on the fly.

  • He's fine. Good in some areas, bad in others. Bubba is a good boi.

  • They aren't often going to score a hit, but they will sometimes block the path of a Survivor, which slows them down as they have to go around or find a completely different path. Zombie pathing could use some tweaks for improvement, but other than that, they are fine. Zombies shouldn't be oppressive, they should just be a small to moderate obstacle.

  • I have always been of the opinion that SC shouldn't work on stealth Killers, in particular ones that need to stalk.

When I play Killer, I DO approach gens looking to the side so that I don't set off SC. Kind of like old DS, I just have to assume Survivors are always running it. Mostly because I always run it on Survivor. It's very strong, gives a lot of intel, and opens up plenty of options because of the early warning it gives. I also don't play stealth Killers, so I don't have to worry about SC invalidating my power.

  • I saw a Billy today, and they were really good. Maybe I should try the lotto.
