So, yeah. Last game of the night - 4 people abusing that frigging item thing to never get AFK crows to take the game hostage on Midwich. If I hadn't had Face the Darkness, they probably would have hit the timer.
Literally just hiding from the start. Took me around 29 minutes to finally find them and kill them all.
Postgame...'LOL thats what you get for playing Blight'. I...am probably the least sweaty Blight you'll ever face, and quite possibly the worst.
I think I'm going to see out a bit more of the event and then...
https://youtu.be/U-67i1EC0A4Well, maybe not that extreme, but got a kiddo on the way, videos to make, wife to annoy, house to maintain, yard to fix up and a ton of games - Midnight Suns and that Spider-Man thing people keep saying is good to catch up on.
Probably coming back for the anniversary but...yeah, no. That sort of tore it.

Here's my policy on killer.
- If there's nobody nearby? I'm taking it.
- If there's someone taking it or heading to it - they can have it.
I'll also give someone a free pass if they're setting theirs up.

I does suck when you’re the last two and you know the other is just playing the “waiting game”. I personally have no patience for it. I’ll just sit on a gen until the killer finds me.
Yup. I'll go and seek out the killer and just run them for as long as I can, until I eventually go down.

Isn’t he? Such a fun killer.
The only thing I'm not sure how to really handle are jungle gyms with two vaults, and shack. But maybe a dozen games on him now and I'm slowly getting a feel for him.
What's interesting is that he looks like a very 'twitchy' killer like Billy or Nurse, but he's actually more tactical - like Hag or Dredge. You need to anticipate where you'll want to be in a few moves and how to finagle your way there.

I say we also make it so the killer can't leave the pregame lobby then either without DC penalty. Why do you get to dodge games you think won't be fun, but not us?
...Who even does this anymore?
Like, unless it's an obvious hacker or something then - sure?
Also, how on earth are the two remotely comparable. Dodging the lobby doesn't lock all four survivors into the next game. Killers can't just suicide...you do know this right?

I think that's a bad analogy. A better one would be: People keep leaving your store because you treat them like garbage the moment they walk in the door. Sometimes, you even hit one in the face ten seconds after they enter. So intead of treating the problem(you), you want a one-way door that traps them into your store while you harass them.
Treating the symptoms instead of the problems will make sure the problem itself never goes away. It will ensure you slowly lose business though.
...
Did you just seriously compare...literally 'playing killer' to assaulting people IRL? I think my head may explode.
Note, this isn't like my example of 'sometimes people do a bad thing, so we should just bend over backwards to accommodate them in the hopes that they will stop doing that bad thing out of the kindness of their heart' which...sure, wasn't perfect because no analogy is, but my point is - if you have to give in to them to stop bad people from doing a bad thing, you may as well just close up and go home.
And no. The killer isn't the store owner.
The store owner is BHVR.
What's the problem, exactly? Have you...ever played an online game before? People will quit when they start losing. You can't make everyone win all the time.

There's literally a % of people that exclusively throw the game because they are facing a certain killer they don't like, so better add this feature but just with the possibility to add one killer, and we will see how it goes.
If nurse is really that hated, the devs will finally decide to rework her power
People keep shoplifting from my store, and there's always a % of people who will shoplift...so rather than getting better at catching shoplifters or, I dunno, jail, I'm just going to give all my stuff away for free - because then nobody will shoplift!
But fair enough, you get to block a killer.
I get to block any SWF with more than 2 people.
Deal!

How on earth is it Myers? Oh wait, Vanity Mirrors. Ugh.
In close second place...somehow, it's Dredge. Who yeah, I guess I'm now maining.

Then it was Pop
Then it was ruin plus undying
Then it was dead man switch plus pain Resonance
Then it was merciless storm
Then it was dead man switch plus pain Resonance in a weaker Version
And now it's the kick gen perks but mostly Eruption
Stop crying about any perk that get's used a bit more often because it's the strongest right now
Same for killers who cry about every survivor perk that is meta
You forgot Thana and Overcharge.
But...eh. Eruption isn't too strong. But it's very annoying for solos. It doesn't need a nerf, but it does need a tweak.
If they do decide to give it the Ruin or Thana treatment, I'm throwing bones.

That's just not true and I'm kinda of sick of talking about it but.... There's no reliably counterplay to Eruption for solo players. If you can not see the chase you don't know when to get off the gen. If you choose not to work on the gen at all or leave that gen (if possible) the perk still gets value.
Ugh.
Okay.
If a perk has complete, 100% reliable counterplay then that's a useless perk. And I trust this isn't one of the numerous 'nah who cares about killer players, just delete a perk so anyone that bought that killer just has two for him now' posts so...here's how I'm finding Eruption.
- I run Empathy baseline, and I can...generally dodge Eruption about 40%- 50% of the time.
- Other people, from what I'm seeing, aren't even trying to dodge it. They're greeding 100% and getting clouted.
- Yes, it gets value. Are you saying it...shouldn't get value? Wouldn't that be a pointless perk?

I would burn a black ward for purple / iri. But now my blight is stacked with thousands for each addon (5-6 hundred of each iri) so I pop whatever I want every game. It’s quite nice.. but I absolutely get where you’re coming from!
Oh, you might have a chuckle - I recently started learning Blight and dammit this killer is fun.
Some addons probably need a nerf but just such a wonderfully active and kinetic killer.

oh man. it is like whole spirit thing again. Just because you cannot see orb does not mean it isn't there. you can still see general path of the orb and it is not hard to figure out where the guard will spawn. I think his 1vs1 is ok vs weaker survivors but his chase time is pretty slow vs stronger survivors.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3330890#Comment_3330890
same as before changes? If the knight is after you with the guard, shift-w when he places it. If you can avoid guard chase then its ideal. you want to loop maps in a circle against him because he has no real effective chase power as long you stay in the center of the map. His power is only good if your in the corner of the map and he spawns the guard to sandwich you with guard and the killer at the same time. Ideally you want guard chasing you and the killer chasing you in straight line.
outside the chase, if the knight downs another player, knight player will often summon guards to random generators nearby while your working on a generator. if its jailer or assassin, you can loop any junkpile or random rock for 5 seconds then pick up the flag to end the chase. The guards will not try to double back/mindgame you, they will keep following you in a set formation. those 2 guards have laughable gen pressure. If its carnifex, carnifex has very long chase and his flag takes long time to spawn. He is very slow so he cannot hit you if you run forward but he wastes your time the most out of the guards.
The thing is - at least how I play him, you won't see me release the orb. I'm not sure if survivors get a sound cue.

How much does a lunar gen give without the offering?
Because with the offering, it's 3k every time one gets finished, even if you didn't finish it.
Then 5k for someone opening your offering, and up to 30k for someone else's.
So generally it's 3,000x3-5 + 5k + x (where x is a number between 0 and 30,000) bonus.
That's pretty damn nice. I'd say, on average, I'm getting 20-30k at least from event stuff alone.

he was already reliable at triggering the guard hunt and he already exceled at coralling survivors in the corner of the map before the changes. The only thing that changed in my opinion is that survivors with grandma reactions get hit by assassin guard when working on generators.
they still have not fixed his game-breaking glitch which will go unnamed.
I'm really not sure how to loop him now. Pallets and vaults sometimes seem to slow the summons down, sometimes they don't do anything.

They really need to fix the stupid exploit to avoid the crows. Dropping your item and picking it up should not clear them, neither should briefly touching a totem.

@[Deleted User] said:
Sorry, that sucks.
Yes, had a game that almost made me throw in the towel for the night tonight. I changed to survivor instead and that calmed me down.
I was playing killer. Down to the last two survivors. No joke, they hid for 25 mins not touching gens. Luckily I spotted an afk crow one had above their head. Hook her and think I’m just going to camp to force the game to end. The other survivor manages to unhook her but I manage to slug both . I stand there a bit with the thought of letting them bleed out so they can get a taste of it but I’m not that petty. So I hook them.
Of course, end game chat I’m called a trash tunneling, camping killer. I didn’t tunnel anyone but I told them I only camped because they wouldn’t touch gens for over 20 minutes and I didn’t want the risk of losing them again and have another 20 minutes of nothing. I was over it. Anyway, as you can imagine it’s was a whole list of insults thrown at me.
I absolutely hated playing that way but I just wanted the game to end and they wouldn’t touch gens!
Yeah. I'm not going to say which streamer did it, but they not only did the exploit to avoid AFK crows to stall games out for ages (hiding for hatch as part of some jokey streak) but he also went on record to his thousands of viewers that BHVR do not care about it and that reporting it does nothing.
I don't think they're a Fog Whisperer, but still. Big name.
Ugh ugh ugh.
Seeing it more and more on killer - twice today and twice yesterday. Just survivors who think it's funny to try and make killers DC by basically taking the match hostage.

So, 2 players are dead, one gen left, and 2 survivors still alive. I work on a gen for about 20 seconds, the other guy is not. Then the killer comes to my gen, and we play hide-and-seek, for 1,5 minutes at least, and the whole time, the other survivor did not touch a single gen. (i also run bound, so i know he wasn´t near me and the killer, too)
Up until know, in a situation like this, you could only guess if the other player works on a gen or not, but now we know.
So after the killer left anyway, what am i supposed to do? if i want to win, i should just hide like the other guy, because thats the clever move, instead of taking all the risk.
But isnt that a hostage-situation then?
But i dont want the other guy to escape on my expense without doing anything for it, and while i would give them the benifit of the doubt before, now i know for sure.
So how do you handle this situations?
Yes, it's a hostage situation.
No, you won't get banned for it. A prolific streamer and Fog Whisperer confirmed that BHVR *do not* care about this, as it's indistinguishable from hiding for hatch.
You probably should just concede the loss, be a good sportsman and not stall the game out for 20 minutes in the hopes of getting hatch. But that's purely a 'don't be a butt' thing.

I can snip and paste the comments here, if you'd prefer.
I'm...also not fighting you, mate. No idea why you're taking this as an attack. Tone doesn't carry well online, is it possible you're reading something into my posts that isn't there?
You don't get to say it's...not only completely fine for a survivor to suicide, because 'it's how they have fun' and then go on to say that anyone who disagrees is actually the entitled one - then turn around and say that well, we can't give killers information about who was in an SWF after the match because - and I quote - 'it breeds annoying people'.
No.
Not a chance.
Unless you're massively biased towards the 'survivors can do literally no wrong and killers can do literally no right' mindset that I see...just way too much of in this game, can you not see the incongruity here?
And no, you don't get to do that and then go 'well, if you disagree or point it out then you're literally attacking me and drama stirring'...again, uh-uh. If you make a post or a response on a public forum, so long as they are being courteous and keeping to the rules, you don't get to choose who can respond to you and who can't.

No...what drama? You have a distinctive name and avatar and I immediately went 'hang on, why do I remember this guy?'. Then I saw that post and went 'uh...wait what's going on?'.
I'm trying to figure out the double standard here.
Surely the 'I can play however I like even if it ruins games and if you're annoyed about it then you're being entitled' thing cuts both ways? If something that's pretty damn close to griefing is perfectly acceptable because 'that's how I have fun'...then what's the concern about someone being salty in postgame?
You seem to be confusing the terms 'drama' and 'disagreement'. But I guess that's something folks seem to be making a habit of these days.
Keep in mind that tone doesn't convey well online and apparently my style comes over as sarcastic at times. That's...not my intention.

Also even though I would -love- to be able to see other survivors' perks in the pre-game lobby, I -could- see it causing an issue when it comes to certain builds or certain archive challenges.
I mean imagine seeing one of your teammates running zero perks, or just Self-Care and No Mither, or running a build like Sole Survivor, Wake Up, Distortion, Left Behind or something like that.
It would cause more lobby-dodging and we already know that backfilling lobbies massively screws up MMR.
I see the concern, but...look at it this way.
Is it better to force this on groups without them knowing, so they end up basically auto-losing at the selection screen or to give folks a chance so that when they do find a group willing to let them roll with those perks, they'd know what they are getting into and can compensate?
Also - if there's a perk that causes dozens of people to instadodge the second they see it - that's probably an indicator that you need to rework that perk.
I mean...that one tome with the 'only use No Mither and escape' node made solo queue basically unplayable for an entire week.
Every game would have 2 people hiding in opposite corners of the map fiddling with their item to avoid crows, hoping for everyone else to die so they could get hatch.

I quite like how the perk is discouraging hit and play styles. When tons of people were playing hit and run Wraith it was awful, especially in solo queue, unless someone had CoH.
I can imagine builds for Wraith such as Sloppy Butcher, Knockout, Eruption, Deadlock/Infectious Fright with a slugging playstyle making a return, especially with a CoH nerf.
The UI improvements will help a bit now though. But so will the Haemorrhage (Sloppy Butcher) buff for killers (making survivors lose progress with their heals). So I'd imagine it'd still be extremely oppressive to play against. And boring, since you're not really ever chased - just downed over and over again when the nearby pallets are gone.
Here's the thing though.
This game isn't and can't be balanced around solo queue.

Sure...but in that case there's a weird disconnect between developers here.
Is toxicity something worth avoiding, or is it an integral part of online gaming?
(There's another post that I've literally combed the internet for where the devs say that they want survivors teabagging the killer to feel satisfying, in regards to animation changes, but it is apparently lost to the ether).

completely agree, they should add a tooltip style box when hovering over the survs in the lobby with their perks, this lets solos plan their perks, sounds like a pipe dream though
My guess is that it's the same bizarro reason why we can't see MMRs/SWFs in postgame - they are worried about 'more toxicity'. Which...oof.
If a lot of people are dodging lobbies with a specific perk in them...maybe the perk is the problem.

I checked to see if Karu had posted it but as far as I can tell they've only tweeted about it - but on the German blog there is an additional bit of information after the "Schmeruption" quip.
As you can see in the tweet from @GoodBoyKaru , the German blog states "und Schmeis der Schmeilung". This rhymes with the German version of Circle of Healing, which is "Kreis der Heilung".
Edit: Before I get anyones hopes up, this line has been removed unfortunately, but lets hope it was a slip up rather than a mistake.
Oh holy crap yes.
Not only will this make my killer games 100% less obnoxious, but it'll help my survivor games being less tooth-grindingly annoying when two players literally spend half the match setting these dumb things up in basically the same area of the map.

Survivors should really be able to see each other's perks in pregame. If BHVR's goal is some sort of parity between solos and SWF, it boggles my mind that this isn't the case yet.

I’m pretty sure the worst part is being camped and/or tunneled. When I play survivor, I couldn’t give a rat’s ass about another player DCing, but I do care about being tunneled or camped. 🤷♀️
I do. Honestly, I'd much rather be tunneled.
At least I can get some looping practice.
Being camped? Eh. It depends.
Someone DCs? Now what do I do? If I'm on survivor, I have to play out what will, at best, be an elongated and tedious loss. If I'm on killer I now get to play out an elongated and tedious win.
Especially since <redacted> streamer has been using that frigging <redacted> exploit to avoid AFK crows, now everyone knows how to do it so you're almost guaranteed to get 2 survivors hiding in lockers at random parts of the map trying to be the last one alive/trying to be annoying and what would have been an 8 minute game now takes 38 minutes.

Hard enough when you need to split that with 3 others but add in survivors quitting/throwing for challenges/sandbagging or killers playing in a way that completely prevents you from getting points/being AFK and it can put you in a bad head space.
Getting an unfun match where you're tunneled/camped/slugged and already barely getting BP to then be slapped with a negative pip is pretty frustrating. Whenever I have back to back negative pip matches or unfun matches I turn off the game and go play something else instead of just getting more and more frustrated from losing progress.
They should remove negative pips and just have safety, +1, and +2. Also should do something about killer powers like Victor not awarding chase points. It's pretty ridiculous you could distract the killer that is controlling Victor for 5 gens but get 0 points because the game thinks you were just running around doing nothing - I have complained about this since the Twins were released.
This. It's...so frigging stupid that I literally see people fighting over unhooks or dusting perfectly good dull totems that could be booned for the sake of archives or pips.
I will say this though.
AFK killer? I make a little groaning noise and just get out.
2 Survivors doing 'gains' somewhere in a random LT wall/room respectively to stall the game out for 20 additional minutes? That makes me want to punch the entire internet on principle.
Yes, this just happened to me. And they clearly intended to do it, bringing Distortion/Iron Will/Calm Spirit.

It's fine. I'm still decent considering I have been playing for a long time
Haha tell you what. I'm currently practicing survivor quite a bit in preparation for some SWF we're going to be running off my Discord/YT channel (unrelated). If that goes well, I'll hit you up.

It would definitely be nice to see on paper, but in practice I could see it turning sour pretty quickly.
Groups of two or more make up about half of all Survivors (varies per region). You're probably facing and beating some sort of group in each match, but you may not even realize it because on average, grouped players don't really perform better than ungrouped players. While great Survivors playing together and coordinating can be very powerful, the vast majority of people are just casually hanging out with their friends, no harder to kill than anyone else.
On paper, this sounds like a great thing. You'll see that you're beating groups on a regular basis and it might show how rare these unstoppable squads are, maybe even show that even competent solo players can do really well sometimes. But in practice, that's not how brains work. It's easy to look at a win and go, "I won because I'm good." - you just won what is supposedly a hard match, after all. It's a lot harder to swallow a loss and say, "I lost because I didn't do as well as I could." This isn't something that's exclusive to any side or even Dead by Daylight/gaming as whole. When someone's frustrated, it's very difficult to take a step back and think rationally.
I do fear that showing this would only lead to SWF becoming more of a scapegoat when someone has a rough match (if one was even present). It becomes an easy thing you can point to and go, "Well that's why I lost." - even if you killed multiple groups without any problem in your previous matches. It doesn't make you feel better about your loss, it doesn't make you reflect on what you could have done differently, it just directs your anger to people who are simply playing the game. Features which help you direct your frustration towards other people rather than reflecting on your performance will always be a tough sell.
And to be clear, yes, although they are very rare, there are some super coordinated highly skilled groups out there who could very well be very difficult to catch, and by no means do I mean to deny that. The scapegoat situation I'm referring to are the games that definitely could have played out differently depending on how you performed and the decisions you made.
Short version: Would it be cool to know? Yes. Would it be beneficial? I'm not quite convinced. Ultimately, the time spend working on a feature like this would probably be better spent on balance or new QOL features to make those kinds of matches less frustrating in the first place.
Yeah, that...hasn't really been my experience.
I know what you're saying, but even the more casual SWFs are absolutely operating under incredibly advantageous conditions - being able to coordinate perks alone is a massive advantage, ditto knowing when something is about to finish up. These are crucial and yet easy to communicate information packets that, from the killer's point of view, makes the game much more difficult.
Then, another rung up is Fogwise. A few streamers have twigged onto this absolute monstrosity of a perk that, if the killer isn't undetectable, grants almost 100% uptime on vision of the killer. It's very similar to prenerf OoO in that it straight up junks Trapper and Hag, and is very tough to face as most other killers.
It would be nice for our own piece of mind to be able to go 'oh yeah, that was a 4man, no wonder I got pantsed' or 'huh, those were just really good solos?'. I think the concerns about toxicity are a bit overblown too - when I see BM in postgame, it tends to be the survivors for the most part.

That's ok for me but there are arguments why it should still stay in some form to punish dc/afk:ing players.
I don't think anyone has ever been prevented from DCing by depipping.

"Why are survivors so miserable?" Then proceeds to list some of the most irritating, unfun killers in the game...
(Nurse, Trickster, Twins, Legion)
I have zero issue facing any killer on that list besides Twins (and that's not because of their design, it's because of...well okay, something about their design that's really stupid in that you can't really earn any chase points against them and it's thus nearly impossible to pip sometimes).
I legit love facing Nurse now or a non camping Trickster.

Haha, I may take you up on that at some point.

I see arguments that depipping should not be changed because otherwise you could go afk/stop trying if match is not going your way but I don't think that's good argument. If killer tries and gets kill or two he should never depip.
Or...why don't we just remove depipping?

Overcharge is useless against swf because playing in a team magically grants the ability to hit skill checks to players?
Also as @edgarpoop mentioned, the best teams in the world get hit by eruption, and it's considered a problem by very high level players too. Let's quit with this (false) narrative that eruption is "meh" or "useless" against swfs. Because it's not
I swear, there was once a fantastic rolling eyes emoji that I can't find anymore.
But...sigh. Okay, let me explain this one as simply as I can and hope that I can substitute for a bit of common sense.
- When I'm saying 'an SWF' I'm not talking about a group of brand new players all having to play with their feet because of a coincidental treadmill accident. I'm talking about at least an intermediate group with a fair bit of organization. Not necessarily a comp squad, but can hit skillchecks.
- If I, at maybe 100 hours of survivor, can hit maybe six Hyperfocus 'greats' in a row, then outside of skillcheck builds, almost nobody is having problems hitting Overcharge, and those that are - are so new that they can't really be balanced around. No, you cannot balance your game around brand new players, and if that's what you're proposing then...yeah, that's silly.
- 'Meh'. Mediocre. Not useless. Slightly better than most of the other options, which are worse - aside from CoB. Which is why these are paired together.
- How exactly are organized groups getting hit by this? I can anticipate it about half the time in solo queue.
- Okay, let's say that 1 player in the match gets Erupted because the SWF had a brain fart and nobody called out that 'hey, this guy is kicking all the gens, anticipate Eruption and call it out over voicecoms before you go down'. That perk is still meh. That perk would still be meh if two people get erupted. It's only oppressive when you're...basically already winning.
- Why are we even having this discussion. The perk is going to get nerfed - devs confirmed this. Almost certainly going to get Thana'd.

I think CoH is spelled a bit differently XD.
