that only good if you downed someone near or close to the gate if you didn't it waste of time.

So what? It's an option that you have. If you don't like the 99, fix it by opening it. Don't continually ask BHVR to nerf things to cover bad performance on your part as a killer. Play all day as a survivor and you'll see that the 99 is not the problem.

I agree that sometimes doors are too close together, the killer shouldn't be able to see both doors from one location.

But why would a regression on the exit doors be such a bad thing?

As I have said, compared to how the game used to be, the EGC and exit gate placement is already heavily in favor of the killers. There do not need to be any additional things done to EGC or exit gates to assist killers. Killers that lose because of it feel like it's that way every match because they need to improve. The exit gate 99 is not a problem for the vast majority of matches or players. Again, killers who fail tend to view everything else as the problem. I guarantee if those same folks played as survivor for an entire day, they would see that the 99 is not the problem. In fact, plenty of killers get 4Ks etc. without it being an issue. It only appears to be the issue because some killers suck and refuse to acknowledge it.

they 99% the door because normally the killers busy with another survivor by the time you get to the door they have they buddy off hook open the other door and get out.

there the killer stand there with egg on his face

so in other word no it not fair EGC needs something like i said exit gates should slowly lose progress over time if survivor walk away after 99% it.

NO NO NO. Here's the thing. You already get exit gates too close together AND the EGC to begin with. That is enough for the killers. You don't need more. If you can't it done with those changes, get better at playing killer or pick a different killer or go play survivor.

Dang, these baby killers that want everything in the game changed so that they can get 4Ks with a perkless Clown or something. It needs to stop. If BHVR keeps listening to this kind of nonsense there won't be survivors left for these baby killers to play against. It takes 4 times as many players to play survivor as it does killer. Stop trying to nerf the game instead of getting better. If you have a bunch of bad matches as a killer, the common denominator is YOU. Go play a whole day as survivor and you'll see that it's not gen rush, it's not 99% doors, it's not any of these continuous excuses for your bad performance . . . it's you needing to get better.

I think the OP is saying that it's unfair for the killer that survivors can 99% gates then leave them to prevent the endgame timer from starting, in order to give themselves extra time to try and save a hooked survivor.

Totally understand that. That's why I'm saying if you (as killer) don't want the survivors to have that extra time, go open the gate. Then the EGC will stop. I've seen plenty of killers do that. They'll down someone, go open the gate, then hook. It works especially good with Blood Warden.

To get betrayed of my win because somebody brought / found a key. Both Mori and Keys have to be deleted out of the game.

They even picked the Haddonfield map and had no chance of winning against my build with one gen left (one was dead), but obviously one had a key. They betrayed me of my bloodpoints and my win with a cheap mechanic that should not be in the game.

They're not going to get rid of moris after spending the money to animate them (although I'd be fine with it if they did).

Franklin's is a counter to keys and moris haven't been touched at all. So you can complain all you want about keys, but honestly until they touch moris, they better not do one more thing to keys!

  • OP -- just open the gate yourself if you don't want it 99'ed. Easy.

Want another fun fact? Most actually competant survivors can survive with things other than DS, Dead Hard, Adrenaline and Sprint Burst.

LOL. I don't run any of those and I'm a survivor main. NOED is for killers who can't get it done.

Keys got a counter with the Franklin's rework and moris (which are more aggregious and allow skipping more steps in the game than keys) have yet to be touched.

Because bots will never be anywhere as good as real human players. They should never remove the penalty. If anything, once the bots come around, they should increase it.

I disagree. In a lot of cases, people DC because it's over for them anyway. They're about to be hooked on their death hook. They're about to be downed for the final time. Why not let a bot ride that out? Sure, you're going to get those who DC after first down or for some other lame reason, but at least they will be replaced with a bot. A player sticking around that doesn't want to be there is more likely to sandbag or just try to suicide than a bot. I'll take my chances with a bot in that scenario.

  • OP - no. There is a new reason. BHVR is bringing bots to the game to take the place of players who leave. Once that happens, we should be able to DC because at that point, who cares?

Idk if i would call the new franklins a nerf to keys. It still takes 90 seconds for an item to disappear. I have tried it out in red ranks ps4 and i think i have had 1 pink map be consumed so far. If you really expect franklins to work you have to waste a lot of time around the item to ensure no on gets it especially if any swf playing but then gens are just getting done. I don't really think i would call it a nerf to anything honestly. Also franklins only works on basic attacks. This perk is also base kit for a killer who uses an instadown chainsaw. How does that make sense lol?

The point is that it CAN be a nerf to keys if the killer sees one in a lobby and wants to do something about it. There is no such thing for moris (other than DC'ing). So, more has been done to nerf/counter keys than moris. Yes, you may view it as a small counter/nerf or nothing at all, but the point is that something has been done while moris have been untouched.

  • Keys and moris both need rework.

However, moris let you skip over 2 hooks, which is a significant amount of steps and time.

Keys allow you to skip opening the exit gate and don't spawn unless you are able to open the gates or the right number of folks have left the match (via sacrifice, suicide, DC, etc.).

In my opinion, moris save way more time than keys. Yes, they should both be adjusted, but given this fact AND that the new Franklin's is a bit of a nerf to keys, I think moris need attention pronto.

Add to the above that moris encourage tunneling and camping. The rework needs to DISCOURAGE both of those behaviors. I have posted solutions to this many times (as have others).

Let's hope someone is working on it soon.

  • I would love for BHVR to bring in some B-movie or classic killers from older films.

I'm sorry but the idea of you have to bring in x perk to counter it shouldn't really be a thing.

You can't say they counted it with Franklin's and then suggest Bassline counters for mori.

Franklin's demise should be an extra punishment for items in general it shouldn't be seen as the sole way balance keys.

Obviously, that would be the least desirable of my suggestions, but I'd prefer that to nothing. At this point, I'm throwing every idea I have out there because moris need to be addressed yesterday.

"This game has been killer-sided for the past year (and maybe more). Every patch is filled with killer buffs and survivor nerfs."

So changing Ruin was a killer buff? Recent Billy basekit and addon changes are a killer buff? Nurse changes were a buff? Do you recognize how ridiculous you are making yourself?

"BHVR needs to keep in mind that you need 4 survivors to play and 1 killer."

This bs talking point works the other way around, too: Entitled survivors need to keep in mind that you need 1 killer to play for 4 survivors. Killers STILL have a very rough life in high ranks against competent survivor groups. Just search a bit in the forum, there are plenty of posts of green or yellow ranked killers having to play against purple or red survivors, nearly every game. There are just too few high ranked killers available for all the red rank survivor groups, so the not-so-good killers have to stand in, which frustrates many so hard that they quit playing killer, making the situation even more loopsided. I can see that every evening in my region, killer queues are instant, survivor queues take considerably more. Bc mush more players play survivor than killer, at least in my region.

Ranking up as survivor is easy mode compared to killer. You can consistantly pip even when you die all the games. So it feels more rewarding to play survivor, and it's just more chill for many. I recently encountered so many survs in my killer games with a red or pruple rank that were just plain bad at the game. No awareness whatsoever, no clue about the basic defences, not even using pallets they run past. You feel all game you are bullying a group of brown-ranked newbies, but on the tally screen you see that they are supposed to be purple or red. That tells you enough about which role is easier in this game.

LOL. Not had your coffee yet this morning? So triggered!

There have been little nerfs to killer stuff over the past year, but it's been predominantly buffs to killers and OP new ones.

And you can complain all you want about "entitled survivors" but the math is there. Treat survivors like crap and see where it gets BHVR as a company.

And don't use rank as a justification for your opinions. Rank is meaningless and has no real rewards.

  • They could fix spirit easily -- make Stridor not counter Iron Will. Or double Iron Will's efficacy.

  • OP I agree with you 1000%.

This game has been killer-sided for the past year (and maybe more). Every patch is filled with killer buffs and survivor nerfs.

The whiny killer mains that dominate these forums and reddit will come in here and claim differently, but that's just because the whiners (not all killers) can't get a 4K despite endless OP killers. They want a 4K on Clown every game. Get real!

The upcoming patches better have mori changes.

Also, the change to the beginning of the game had better not allow for kills or there will be riots. The game is long enough as it is. If they add a bunch of crap to the front of the match, the opportunities for 0Ks for survivors will dramatically decrease and the balance will go from 2K to 4K. What the beginning of the match should be is no killing but both sides racing to do something. Whichever side gets it, gets some sort of advantage. Of course, you'd have to even the odds a bit for that since it would be 4v1, so the killer would have to have a starting advantage or something.

BHVR needs to keep in mind that you need 4 survivors to play and 1 killer. If they keep focusing on the 1 guy and screwing over the other 4, they won't have anyone left. That's why they're moving toward crossplay. They're trying to aggregate a dying population.

Mark my words. The beginning of the match change will be the death of this game if it is not done properly.

Community: Nooooo! You can't just release a broken patch and call it a day. What about Moris, Keys, Gen-rushing, camping and tunneling? Why not fix those? And the new auras are bad.

BHVR: Haha, New skins go brrr

I agree with you. However, all of the patches in the past year have been killer-sided and bug-filled, so why are you surprised?

Also, the devs will tell you that tunneling and camping aren't against the rules.

However, I am upset that they nerfed keys with the Franklin's update without touching moris. Myself and others have given them tons of ideas on how to tweak moris and so far, nothing.

And, yes the new are auras are utter shite.

And, the bugs. So many. Just change the game's name to Bugs by Daylight already.

  • They just nerfed keys with the Franklin's buff. So they best be doing something with moris real soon!

The first response to this thread had some good ideas, but here a few I've had over the years:

    • Make moris only work if you are on death hook
    • Make moris only work if another survivor was hooked between your first and second hooks (this prevents tunneling)
    • Release a counter to the mori (a perk, an item or something)

If and only if they have changed moris, they can then address keys:

    • Escape keys can't be found in chests OR they can only be found in chests when 1 survivor remains
    • Escape keys only allow the key holder to escape
    • Alongside any changes, the dull key needs to have a different model than the escape keys OR be changed into an entirely different item such as a pocket watch or something.

NO, I play both, at least for the daily bonuses and quests.

Survivors are OP and the fact that these kind of posts are posted daily means something, the problem is not with me at all, the problem is balance and nothing more or less.

Stop saying "get gud" because that is not the case, you can be a perfect killer but if you play with half decent survivors you will most likely lose, SWF is an instant lose, something needs to be done or else the game dies, for real, I really start to hate it.This survivor advantage has been since day 1 and almost NOTHING is done about it.

No dude no. Watch any stream. Watch any YouTube videos. Neither side wins 60% of the time or more. It's back and forth (as it should be). These posts are just "wah, I can't beat survivors, so nerf them". These posts are happening all the time because every day there's a new snowflake that can't handle losing so often without coming up with an excuse to target for a nerf. There are plenty of killers that get lots of kills. Play a different killer, brush up on your skills, but stop calling for nerfs/buffs every day!

  • Dude no. Survivors are not OP. (Jesus every day with a post like this.)

It feels that way because you are playing a weak killer or you need to get good.

Play an entire day as survivor in SWF or solo and keep track of how many of each K you get. If it's mostly 4Ks or all 0Ks, then you can make a statement like that. Until then, no.

When you base it on your gameplay as a killer, the only common element is YOU. Not survivors. Not mythical gen rush. Not SWF. You.

  • @AggressiveFTW said:

Right now survivors have only 2 things to work with in chases (pallets and windows). I think they are great tools, but it feels like there is something missing. We need to have something more to work with, so chases don't become at one point, boring. I myself don't have a clue what could be missing, but if you guys could help me out here and figure out what's missing, feel free to tell me your ideas and we'll have a great discussion!

You don't have either of these really with a Doctor on your butt, unless you drop the pallet early or vault early. Similarly these things aren't very helpful against ranged folks unless you go early as well.

I don't think survivors really need more to work with. You can use various combos (like Lithe and Urban) to evade as well. You don't have to keep the chase going. You can lose the chase with various techniques.

  • As a survivor main, I can say that I don't think she needs a nerf. She just needs two things: hit boxes reviewed (maybe hit validation will fix this) and changes to iri head.

For iri head, I recommend making it cause hatchets to function like a boomerang, where they return to her hand after impact. Gunslinger only has to do a small action to reload, so a boomerang hatchet would add reload time with the amount of time it would take to hit and then return. That would be powerful, feel rare, and better than insta-down (for survivors).

  • Better yet. Play for a full day on the public DBD discord in various SWF groups as a survivor.

SWFs are a minority. Toxic, bullying ones are a minority within that minority.

If you want to have an opinion on it, you need to play as SWF for more than a couple matches. Try a day's worth and then come back with opinions (and suggestions as the OP requests).

Personally, as someone who plays a lot of SWF, I think that most of these complaints are from people that are failing as killer and want something to blame. I see a wide mix of 4K to 0K in the SWF matches playing with a lot of different groups. I don't see enough consistent 0Ks to justify changes to SWF, especially when the game is balanced around 2K.

  • I hate the new auras. Can't see them through objects like walls. It's not good.

  • I didn't read every reply, so I don't know if this has been covered. Apologies if it has.

I'm not saying I agree with the change described in the OP. However, I believe I know why they did it.

The matchmaking is now based on how good/bad you are at a given killer NOT how you good/bad you are as ANY killer. To do that, they can't have people loading in based on your Doctor rating and then have you switch to Legion. It would throw the whole thing off.

So, again, not saying I agree with the change. Just explaining why it exists so that if you didn't know, now you will.

  • I work in I.T. and have for years. I have never seen anything like this. Every patch brings more bugs than it brings fixes.

Are they using source control? Do they have adequate QA?

Does anyone know if the having to add a friend to Steam before inviting bug was fixed with this patch?

  • For survivor, a win is escape and/or pipping up. But I'm happy if I safety as well.

For killer, a win is 3K+ and/or pipping up. But I'm happy with a 2K as well since the game is balanced around that.

Couldn't agree more. Remember when Ruin got changed and it took several more months to nerf toolboxes? Yeah, that's what happens when they do one side at a time. Mass, rapid exodus.

That's not an adequate comparison. When Ruin was nerfed, you already had many other slowdown perks available including Ruin, which is still widely used today.

Moris encourage tunneling off of first hook. Literally every match you play with a mori, they tunnel for that stupid animation. It needs to be changed alongside keys or before. Period.

Sadly the killer cant apply pressure at the start of the match most of the time they are on the survivor when 2 gen are done because it take close to 40 sec to go to the other side of the map and survivor spawn on gen.so the problem with gen speed is the start of the game that why the game need to put something for this.

No. They can rework maps. They can do other things. Adding something to the start of the match is only going to drive survivors away unless the killer can't kill or injure survivors during that period. Mark my words. You'll see the mass exodus if they add something egregious to the beginning of matches.

  • @PalletsAndHooks said:

In order to use stealth, it is not advisable to run. Without planning for the gen rush before the trial, It is always far safer to walk to a generator, at any point in the game.

Additionally, the killer can see scratch marks 32m away. Although the scratch marks may last ten seconds, the killer can still be up to 16 seconds behind you, which is not a substantial amount of time to do complete a gen, nor is it enough time to heal on your own.

Therefore, it is always safer to walk to your generator and wait for the first patrol pass before touching it. This assures early avoidance, preserving your state of health, and not revealing your location to the killer.

The issue here is not contextual, because stealth movement is always superior to running, at any point in the trial including the chase. Running makes chases happen faster, but not generator progress. This issue is your emotional investment against Sprint Burst.

You believe the game is ######### if survivors are not immediately running to their objectives. Surprisingly, a survivor with Sprint Burst is guaranteed to get their objective before the killer and other survivors, but they choose not to. @SloppyKnockout made a much better point in one post than you did with all these posts @Splinterverse .

It is silly to see a walking survivor who does not know when to use Sprint Burst. There's literally a time and place for it, and there's a small minority of neophyte sprinters that are still learning.

But that's the minority, and that's the hyper focus of your posts; it's when they don't use Sprint Burst when you feel like they should. Every runner knows they're gonna get to the objective first, and every smart runner knows there is literally no reason to be there so quickly. The killer is always on his way over, so why would anyone run around and leave scratch marks all over the place?

It is foolish to run for the sake of convenience, so you can "get there faster". Running is a defense mechanism, and not ideal means of transportation.

Ok. Continue losing the game for your team as you crawl, walk, etc. everywhere. I don't care.

There are a LOT of SB users that don't run when they should. That's the main point. Go ahead and suffer from it. Again, I don't care.

Ah yes, Franklins. So you can pick your key right up again?

Not if the killer camps it. And if the key isn't picked up in a certain amount of time it goes away. Add to that, nearly every time a mori is used the survivor is tunneled off of first hook. That needs to be fixed before they touch keys or alongside changes to keys.

  • OP -- hell no!

Keys are already getting a nerf with the Franklin's changes.

There should be no more changes to keys until moris are addressed.

    End of story!

  • Jeebus. A new one of these posts every day. Gen speeds are fine. Apply pressure, play a different killer, or get good.

The statistics you cite are not common. BHVR has the real statistics and I guarantee you there are plenty of 4K, 3K, 2K, and 1K games out there. Besides BHVR has said the game is balanced around 2K, so accept it and move on already.

I'm so sick and tired of the constant killer main whining here and on Reddit. You know who you don't see whining? Good killers. Stop it before BHVR actually listens to this nonsense and ruins the game for good. It takes 4 times as many players to play survivor as it does killer. Keep whining and BHVR will enact something stupid and those players will vanish. Then your queue will be longer than it is now.

If it's not working for you, switch killers or just stop already.

ROFL The devs? The Dbd devs? Killer-sided? 🤣They strip away and gut killer powers notoriously. Anything overly killer sided is fixed within days(Release Freddy). Anything overly survivor sided is fixed in weeks, months, if that (WAKE UP). Survivors are still strong as ever. The only difference is they removed some double pallet areas, nerfed MoM and BT, starting to ease the burden of god loops and adding breakable walls in hopes killers stop quitting the game. Survivor gameplay hasn't changed since release with the exception of totems and that's only if they feel like doing them.

Have you not been playing for the past year? What you described is how it used to be. Now it's the opposite. But continue on with your incorrect assumptions, I don't care.

  • I like it, but I still prefer making it a lit totem the whole game or generally only last for 60 secs at most (because it needs to last less than the gate timer).

  • No one should force you to farm. However, there are situations where killers should absolutely farm:

    • One or more early DCs or AFKs (even early suicides might contribute to this)
    • Extreme lag spikes for all players impeding the game on one or more sides
    • Special events where it's beneficial (and faster) to all involved to farm (not all events, but those that fit this criteria)

lol how is it NOT survivor sided? Survivors came out of the box GODLIKE since release and they're still strong today. They're the majority of their playerbase, so why would you think survivors aren't in the minds of the devs at all times?

There was a time when it was survivor-sided, but it hasn't been that way for a year, maybe two.

The devs are killer-sided by the sheer fact that every release is in the killer's favor. It's obvious. And it's only going to get worse with the stupid beginning of the game mechanic.

When the patches start containing more than bug fixes for survivors, we'll talk. Until then, the patch notes speak for themselves buddy.

Optimal means leaving scratch marks at every generator so they never get complete. Ok then.

No. LOL. Scratch marks only last 10 seconds dude and it takes way longer than that to get a gen done.

Again, if the killer is nearby, you may need to evade or use stealth. But, unless it's a stealth killer with no terror radius, there's no reason not to run. By the time you hear the terror radius, you will have been on the gen for a bit and the marks will have dissipated.

Sounds good. I usually play on weekends and my Discord name is the same as my DBD name, so hit me up if you need help getting it going or if you want to play together.

I guess you have never been taken to Ormond by a 3-4 man squad of object using survivors on comms. That's fine, I was new to the game once as well.

DBD has always been survivor sided. It's just that it's gone from the days of 1v1ing any killer that wasn't the nurse by running balanced landing infinites and god windows to a more reasonable level recently. If you can't identify safe pallets then you are probably not very good at looping, which is why you think the game is killer sided I assume.

I have over 1800 hours. Definitely not new to the game.

I can loop for a long time. I just disagree on your assessment of the pallets. But that's fine, we can agree to disagree.

It is killer-sided. Notice that all of the updates are killer-favored. There has been no buff or new thing for survivors in a long time (other than DLCs).

It takes 4 survivors and 1 killer to play a match. If BHVR continues to cater to killers, there won't be anyone to play with as the survivors will continue to dwindler. So go on with the assertion that it's survivor-sided. See where it leads you!

    Items?

I thought it was the fact the survivor team can stack 10-16x second chance perks, can finish all the gens in 4-5 minutes, and the majority of maps are littered with super safe unmindgamable pallets?

LOL. You clearly see the game as survivor-sided. Keep thinking that and driving the players away.

Second chance perks are nothing. You can counter all of them.

There is no such thing as gen rushing. That's the game's objective for survivors. If you don't pressure enough, too bad.

And maps have tons of dead zones to go with those supposedly super safe pallets (which I rarely see).

SB on use would make it absolutely broken and basically a mandatory perk for every survivor. Glad you're not in gamedesign.

I honestly don't care about SB. I would be fine with it gone from the game. I care about survivors not running with it. I was saying though that if they changed it to where you could run with it, I would be fine with the perk. It wasn't my idea so take the issue up with the guy who suggested it.
