I am not liking to use SB given the OP reason... hate to walk all the time when need more action... but have to keep the SB ready... so...
By the other side, SB is the exaustion perk that better put the survivor into an advantage position in every chase, without any requirements except run... maybe they could turn the SB activation as Dead Hard: run and press X (ps4). If the survivor is dumb to use both in a match, SB prevails if hurt.
Yes. If they altered SB to not require a choice between optimal mode of transportation and using the perk, I'd be a bigger fan of it. I doubt they will though. The killer mains that dominate these forums and elsewhere already complain about how they missed their ambush attacks because of it. Which honestly is ridiculous because the survivor doesn't get that far away by using SB.

ermm I would think the solid evidence would be experiencing what happens playing with them, but hey that's logic. Who needs logic right.? 😉
Both of our sarcastic remarks aside....
As I said, I have no issue going in and watching and listening to them in that discord. Maybe that place is different which is great. Not everyone is in that discord though - I assure you.
My point is that you are judging them based on what you see rather than what you hear. If you play with them and hear what they're saying, you might have a different experience.
I also think you'll find that the vast majority are not toxic. Yes, they have a slight advantage, but aren't bullying.
I realize that there are other servers beyond the official one and that some may not even use Discord but rather some other tool, but still, you could learn a lot from just spending a day on the official Discord.

If there wasn't an real issue somewhere no one would be criticizing it this intensely, wouldn't you think? It would be a "meh" to each their own, and a yeah, they are annoying but everyone would shrug it off.
Unfortunately my experience right in the game itself has shown me the behavior first hand what it is like 90 percent of the time. Maybe people on the public discord behavior better for some reason? Or I have really, really bad luck - which - wouldn't shock me. Truly it would not.
Buffing the killer is an interesting idea imho for a 4 man SWF (give the killer equal footing somehow), but not if that SWF includes a Killer, or two and three man SWF. As a teammate you end up fighting against them and the killer. Not my idea of fun. Been there, done that way too many time to care to continue dealing with it.
While I'd be happy to go in and listen to them - it won't change what I'm actually experiencing.
I really wish that wasn't the case. Unfortunately my reality is different that yours.
And yet, you don't want to go try actually playing SWF where you can hear what people's motivations are instead of writing a narrative that suits your argument?
Okay, keep on talking without solid evidence (instead of speculation). See where that gets you.

It does not hinder the team whatsoever cuz when it comes to it this is how it usually works at the start we will call the sprint burst gamer sb for this
SB does first gen then runs to get across map to the next gen faster once the boost ends they may walk to get it to 99% or atleast remove some exhaustion and then start on the next gen so they have now by walking and running off and on when need be doing more progress then you
only way you get on the next gen faster then them is if you do the one beside the first gen but then have fun with a three gen any other points you want to argue about?
Dude. You are not getting the math AT ALL.
You run to the first gen. While working on the gen, your exhaustion goes away.
Rinse, repeat.
If you happen to need it, hopefully it is up. If not, run a better perk. Don't waste the team's time trying to save it up.

The fact is no one cares to read a post about telling people they have to waste their perk any chance they get it I showed how dumb it would look to apply that to other perks if you still think that then oh well no use trying to argue with you
It's not wasting their perk. It's wasting the team's time. If they run Sprint Burst, they need to accept that they can't save it up until they see the killer. They need to hope it is available when needed so that the team can get things done. If it's not available, oh well, maybe don't run it. Run something that doesn't prevent you from moving in the optimal way.

Unfortunately all my experiences have proven different. I really wish I could say they weren't. Especially when one of the SWF members is a killer and that happens a lot too. My experiences with groups are they are groups of 2 or 3 survivors - you are then the odd man out and they don't care to unhook or anything else - unless they can farm you for BP. I have had more miserable games because of SWF teams than anything else.
The other means they have is a private game. If they are really not interesting in cheating through the game and they want to have fun with theirs that mode. By all means - go there.
I think anyone wanting to criticize SWF should go spend a day playing in them as a survivor on the official public Discord. I think you will see that the SWF teams vary greatly. You will also see that they aren't farming others. What you are describing is rare. I play so many games both solo and SWF and don't see it that often, and I've been playing for almost 4 years.
Go experience the public server for one day and see what you experience. It will help you to see the full picture.

Oh jeez. People don't read.
Yes, as a survivor on a team of survivors, I am very much affected if someone walks when they could run. That means everything they are doing is potentially taking twice as long. Many games come down to 1 gen left and everyone dead because people wasted too much time walking (as well as other wastes of time).

We'll have to make a bet on that one :-) I think you might be surprised in the future. 😀
I see no response to the fact that they already have a means of doing SWF without having a negative impact on others. There is no reason they can't use that to have fun. So that is a very big tell on who they are isn't it?
I won't enjoy watching the downfall of the SWF teams that are playing nice with others, but I'm so not going to mourne the majority that are nasty.
I disagree that the majority are nasty. I also don't understand what you mean by "I see no response to the fact that they already have a means of doing SWF without having a negative impact on others." What is that means? If you're referring to the OP, that option won't work.
And I'm willing to take the bet. You have to keep streamers and friend groups happy at the core. The game will not survive with just solo queue and bots. It won't be financially viable.

got anything to support that statement?
It's obvious. Do you see any killer nerfs that stick lately? No (Billy). Do you see killer buffs that do? Yes (Bubba).
Have you seen any survivor buffs recently? No. It's map nerfs. It's item nerfs. Etc.
There are more killer buffs coming with perk changes like Franklin's.
I don't need data. Look at all of the recent changes. It's buff killers, nerf survivors, day in and day out. When that reverses course, I'll change my mind. Until then, BHVR is clearly favoring killers due to the constant whining.

I don't care what you think. This forum and reddit are dominated by a minority of killers who suck so bad that they want constant nerfs for survivors and buffs for killers. Because of that, BHVR is listening and acting on it (such as reversing the needed Billy nerfs). Say what you want about it, but it will eventually kill this game. You need 4 times as many survivor players as you do killers. The constant whine of these killer mains will doom us because BHVR is clearly listening and acting on it.

In response to only your last line here.
No we don't. A cheat, is a cheat, is a cheat. Regardless of how you label it.
SWF teams have private game mode they can enable and join. So they can still play with their friends and have fun. 😍
The problem with most SWF teams is their fun is at the expense of everyone else in the game. Sometimes 1 teammate and a killer, sometimes two - and my absolute favorite .... using a friend to play killer to cheat.
If I join solo - I want fair play and a team that doesn't sandbag their teammates. I don't think that's unreasonable to want or expect. THis is not an unreasonable expectation by any means of the imagination.
Well don't accept it. It won't and can't go anywhere without killing this game. So keep it up. :)

So, we all understand that BHVR can't ban SWF because they can't control what people run on their computers while DBD is running; however, DBD can do something that will bring horror back to the game and nerf SWF at the same time.
Mic detection.
DBD can always access mic inputs without broadcasting what survivors are saying. For survivors who don't use SWF and keep their mics off, this won't be an issue. Solo survivors can simply leave their mics muted/deactivated, and they'll play like normal. SWF, however, could have their location revealed with a 16-24m range if they're actively talking. This wouldn't eliminate SWF, but even informing your teammates that you're being chased would reveal your aura to the killer. This could give the killer an advantage at the right moment; additionally, trying to the hide from the killer would require SWF survivors to be silent and stop feeding info to their team.
It's not a perfect solution, but I honestly think it's the easiest solution to implement that won't hurt SoloQ survivors or killers while remaining fair to SWF that use comms.
These kinds of things have been suggested before. Every streamer needs a mic. You can't severely handicap streamers when they are needed to promote the game.
The game would die if people couldn't play with their friends on voice or were discouraged from doing so. People just need to accept SWF and move on.
-
OP there are plenty of legit reasons to DC . . .
- Tunnel for the mori . . . DC
- Face camp on the hook . . . DC
- Sandbagged by team . . . DC

And they honestly don't need to put the DC penalty back when bots are coming to take the place of anyone who DCs anyway.

Please, do list some of these endless "survivor nerfs" That are not exploits that needed to be fixed.
I'm waiting.
LOL. You're clearly another whiny killer main so I don't see the point.
Nearly every survivor item has been nerfed into the ground. None of those were exploits. They were standard kit until people cried that they couldn't get enough kills.
Maps have been reworked in killer's favor. Say what you want about god loops and whether they were exploits, they were nerfed in the killer's favor.
Add to that the constant buffing of killers and killers with 4000 abilities (or otherwise OP) because some rank 19 killer cries that he can't get a 4K.
Doctor now has base kit that allows him to be anti-loop and anti-stealth as BASE KIT! That's not even with addons.
The list goes on. Don't bother replying. I know you don't see it that way, so go lose another match as killer and blame it on imaginary gen rush or something.

@Zamblot said:
You know how ######### it would be if it was used that way? Some people use it wrong and only seem to walk 99% of the time but man, the perk would be straight up garbage if it was used like that
You're wrong.
How long does it take to complete a gen? 80 seconds or something like that? Guess how long the exhaustion lasts? 40 seconds. If you run to that gen, by the time you are done with it, your SB is back up.
It is inherently a bad perk to begin with because it's asking you to choose between the optimal mode of transportation and "saving up" a burst of speed. Perks like Lithe and Balanced Landing do not require this. Yes, Balanced is a bit rough to use because you have to find a height, so I personally wouldn't use it, but Lithe is easy to use. There are vaults in most places so all you have to do is watch for the nearest vault wherever you are doing something.
-
Yes, sitting on a gen is pretty boring. However, the thrill of survivor is manyfold: (1) helping others, (2) outwitting the killer through stealth or chase, (3) saving the team at the last second when you are the only one left standing, and (4) escaping when everyone else has died. And there are more! I guess it depends on your playstyle and what rewards your brain.
-
No. It's not that. In fact, the game is killer focused and becoming more so as the days go on. Play at all ranks for hours on end in various teams (SWF and solo) and you'll see. They've made Bubba OP now and reversed much of the Billy changes. They've yet to reverse any of the endless survivor nerfs. BHVR is killer focused as it is. Leave it.
-
I like the concept of a communication device of some sort. Survivors need more items that are actually usable and haven't been nerfed into the ground. Bloodwebs are so boring these days.
-
@RizeAki said:
Ok but if you run lithe go full sprint into a window any chance it’s active
Dead Hard you have to randomly dash at anytime it’s available
Balanced jump off any ledge you see
You see how dumb that sounds? Why waste an exhaustion perk
No I don't. It's clear what the difference is.
You don't have to vault to get to a generator and even if you did, it wouldn't accelerate you getting there. Same goes for jumping off of a height.
Running, however, is twice as fast as any other mode of transportation. By not doing it, you are cutting that time in half for your WHOLE team.
See how smart it sounds?
-
@mike1288mccarthy said:
If you use it you're exhausted and you can't get it back if you're exhausted and it takes 40 seconds of not running to get that perk back so what you're saying is illogical and won't ever work
This is another reason it is a ridiculous perk. It forces you to avoid the optimal means of transportation to save it up OR recover it. That's at least two points during the game where things are slower than they need to be.
In any case, the time you spend on a generator, doing totems, healing, unhooking, etc., will allow you to get that exhaustion off if needed.

No. Your value of Sprint Burst is never going to change or shift my value of Sprint Burst.
Walking is a superior mode of transportation, and jogging is even better.
If Sprint Burst induces this much salt, I'd never want you on my team of survivors.
That's totally fine. I don't need matches where everyone dies with 1 gen left because you leisurely walked everywhere. Continue wasting others' time. That's fine.
-
@skiafluff said:
Running everywhere is a death sentence at high ranks. Maybe get good.
This is 100% false. I play at high ranks literally all the time. Unless it is a stealth killer or you can't hear the terror radius, there is no reason to avoid running when it will get you to your destination twice as fast as other methods.
-
@catbeans said:

I never see this. I do, however, see a large majority of people sprinting everywhere when they dont need to.
Don't need to? Are you awake there? It is SIMPLE math. If you walk somewhere it takes twice as long as running.
Once you know who the killer is, you know whether you will hear a terror radius or not. If there is an audible terror radius, you can sprint until you hear it. If it's a stealth killer, you can be a bit more selective.
Again, when you are all dead with 1 gen left, use that time to reflect on whether you would have escaped if people had actually run when they could.
-
@Orion said:
I don't even use Sprint Burst, but who are you to tell others how to use their perks? I don't tell you how to use your perks, and I doubt you'd accept it if I tried, so why do you expect others to use their perks the way you want?
Because survivors are somewhat dependent on each other. This is no different than telling folks not to hide all match.
I see the bad SB behavior every day. It is common and needed to be addressed.
You don't have to like it or follow it, but I wanted to say it because I find it ridiculous. It's simple math. Running to a generator takes half the time it takes to walk or Urban there. Repeat that over the course of a match due to "saving Sprint Burst" and the team has lost a lot of time. There's already going to be a certain amount of walking and otherwise evading required, so why make it worse by walking the entire match except when being chased or ambushed?
Also, I have repeatedly seen matches come down to 4Ks with 1 gen remaining and some of it could be traced to people wasting time walking around. Start watching for what I'm saying and you will see what I mean.
I'm not telling people not to run the perk. I'm saying if you are going to use it, don't hold back the whole team by walking unless you're in a chase.
-
@BubMickey07 said:
If sprint burst can get gens done faster quick saves quick flashlight save why are you so mad at the people that use it if you play survivor? I play both equally and I don't have a problem with it so that sounds like a killer main complaing not a survivor
I'm not mad at Sprint Burst in isolation. I'm sick of people that use it as an excuse not to run. There's a difference. If someone actually knows how to use it and runs frequently without holding back to save SB, then I'm cool. If they're going to hold the team back walking everywhere and making things take twice as long, then yes, I have a problem with them. They can switch to Lithe or something else. There's almost always a vault point nearby that can be taken advantage of and Lithe users can run at all times.

And I have seen jackass survivors get others killed by sprinting everywhere.
Sure that happens and I'm certainly not advising that. If you need to evade, walk, crouch, whatever. If you are dealing with a stealth killer, by all means play stealthy, but in general, do not walk everywhere and waste everyone's time because you chose a perk that is "wasted" if you run. It's stupid.

No I don't do that. However, if I'm in a chase and the chase ends up near a gen someone is working accidentally, oh well. Chase takes priority. Anyone working a gen near a terror radius needs to be prepared to get away (or for you with Sprint Burst, walk away slowly lol).

you misunderstand me. I will do what I want, it is not about math but about surviving. I hate and rail at people that say you should run just because it's faster. I don't CARE about that, if I'm running and the killer is chasing someone else then sees my scratch marks he may go after me. This causes me to have issues with dying and I do not want to die in game if possible. people like you are the ones that will not listen to reason because you think your way is the only way. You run all over the place I don't give a damn, however I demand the same respect I give you in return. If you don't like it don't play with me in your group but know that you're the one that doesn't know the difference between tactics and math, because math is more important... I bet you're someone that thinks cleansing totems is not worth it as well since that takes away from getting the gens done, and I laugh when i see people like you taken down to noed because bones were not done.
You should not be worried about dying and escaping every time. If you escape, pip up or safety pip, that means you won. Escaping is not the only win.
And yes I do care about what you do because this is a TEAM game if you are a survivor. What you do, impacts me.
I do think cleansing totems is important and I don't go down to noed. You are clearly immature so keep losing those games for your team by playing as a scaredy cat. And please dodge me if you see me because I don't need the dead weight on my team.

Example 1 - they would have been saving it for if the killer returns, a common strategy from both sides.
Example 2 - a situational scenario and one that may not have allowed the SB user to have it again when they needed it. Or they didn't see it that way.
Sometimes you need to get into the mindset of these players. Understand their way of thinking. I'm not saying that you're wrong 100% of the time on this, just that you seem a little uninformed on parts of what you're asking.
I have plenty of experience with it in my 1800+ hours. I've seen many teams using it while I was hooked or on comms with them or even in solo. I've watched what folks do with it. Very few SB users run unless they have to.
The mindset is that they need to save the perk. If they would stop thinking about that and run when it is needed, a lot more would be accomplished (saving, gens, etc.). Instead they hold back all match. Oh I can't run at the start of the match because it might be a stealth killer and I'll need SB. Oh I can't run now because when I get to the hook I might need to SB away. Oh I can't run now because I might . . . yada yada.
It takes twice as long to walk anywhere. You should run the entire match and then not do so when you need to evade. If you are running SB, you are slowing the whole team down. Use it and hope it recovers in time, but don't slow down the whole team.
-
@Freki said:
wow... so I MUST play your way, and your way only? even without sprint burst I WALK many places on the map when I want to be stealthy, especially at the very begining. if you are here to tell me I play the game wrong, you best keep on trucking before you say it because I play the game the way I see fit, and you are not the devs and even then, I'd tell them, if you meant for sprint burst to be used immediately you'd make running the normal mode of movement for survivor!
You are arrogant and can take a long trip off of a short runway because I will play as I see fit and not how you tell me I have to do so. Now if you gave a suggestion I'd look at it and decide if I want to try or shift how I do things. To me sprint burst is not the best perk, it can't be controlled. Lithe however only needs you to vault something at speed for it to trigger.
Ok. You are not doing the math so there's probably no reason to even respond, but I will just on the off chance that you can actually see reason.
You don't need to walk 90% of the time in the match. It's twice as slow as running, which means it takes twice as long to get to any objective.
If a killer is in a chase with someone else, you can run. If you haven't seen the killer yet, but have heard them, you can run. If two to three people are down, you better run.
The only time you need to walk is to avoid leaving tracks for the killer to find. The rest of the time you are simply slowing the whole team down. It's simple math!
-
@Raptorrotas said:
Why would a survivor need to run unless the other players give them reason to?
Survivors only start fetting pressured by time when other survivors fail, and thats only IF they plan to open the gates.
Survivors should run the entire match unless they are evading. Any time not spent running means it's taking twice as long to accomplish anything (gens, unhooks, etc.).

Sometimes they're too far away to give chase because they used it early, especially when combined with Spine Chill.
If they use it early, then the scratch marks might be disappearing as you make it.
There is also the issue of multiple people being near by and the non-Sprint Burst would be closer, so to a lot of people it would make sense to target them.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1463589#Comment_1463589
You can agree with them if you want, and as a Sprint Burst user, or in some ways a former user, yes I could have used it more often, but there is always that inherent problem of "I might need it later" that a lot of perks like this will have.
What I really don't appreciate about this OP's statement is the demand that I change my perks because they don't like the playstyle that I have chosen.
No. What I'm saying is that you need to use it for the team not save it to be selfish, which is what I see 99% of the time. You can run it all you want, but don't be selfish.
Example 1: You are on a hook. Someone is being chased. Another survivor with SB walks to the hook for the unhook. Meanwhile the chase ends and the killer returns to the hook in time to take down the unhooked person again. If the SB person would've just ran to begin with, both the unhooked and SB person would've been fine.
Example 2: Same scenario as above except chase doesn't end. SB took forever to get to hook but if he had run to it, he would have lost exhaustion before he needed SB again.
There are many more examples. Run to the objectives at the start of the match. Run to the hook. If your SB isn't ready, oh well. You'll get to use it later in the match.

Easy to say when that time they spent walking could have meant the difference between escaping or not. I've seen a lot of games with SB runners come down to 1 gen or a hook save end up in multiple downs because they took too long.
-
OP -- no, no, no. Sometimes we're dodging toxic folks or folks harassing us in the lobby chat. We need to be able to dodge.
-
They already have a coded fix. When Pyramid camps a cage, it respawns elsewhere. Same could happen with hooks.
-
I do think certain combos are big problem in solo queue. Billy always has BBQ, so survivors should be anticipating and countering it. However, in solo queue, you don't know if the survivor has ever watched a video or read anything about it and you can't tell them to do it. BHVR should consider restricting combos of certain killers with certain perks (looking at you Spirit + Stridor). BBQ + Billy might be another one worth restricting.
-
While I don't like Myers + M&A, I don't think he needs a nerf.
Doctor on the other hand needs a rework. He can stop you from looping AND find where you are with his base power. So he negates both looping and stealth. He should only have one or the other as a base kit. To add to that, he remains obnoxious AF.
-
Moris are more common after rank reset. Also, if you are really opposed to them, you can DC on load screen without penalty.

As a matter of fact, Iron Will needs to be slightly nerfed (it is a meta for a reason).
On the other hand, Spirit needs massive nerf to either tracking mid chase or overall movement. So she either becomes a great assassin but subpar tracker (like Nurse), or she is average at tracking and good at chases if killer is good predicting.
Iron Will does not need a nerf. An injured person still leaves blood trails. And, it takes other perks for an injured person to be able to get away from a killer, not Iron Will itself. Besides, Iron Will is one of the few stealth perks so there should be no nerfs to it.
-
They just need to make Stridor not work on folks with Iron Will.
I mean it's bad enough we have to run Iron Will to counter, but then to have a perk that counter the counter? Hell no.
-
Hawkins and Middlewich need to go or be completely reworked. Shelter Woods as well.
-
What about this for an option . . .
When an iri head is used, the hatchet boomerangs back to the Huntress (after it connects with something) for a max of X times before a reload is required.
It would reduce reloading requirements, which is very useful. It would have to have a limit.
-
This happens all the time on PC since Silent Hill update.
It happens when someone new joins the party OR after returning from a match with the same team and queuing up for another.
The only way to know is you have comms and you say "Is everyone seeing everyone as ready and seeing 'looking for match' in the lower right?" This is what I ask when the queues are long. If someone answers "No," we ask them, "Who does not appear ready?" Then that person unreadies and readies again as a fix.
If I'm the culprit, I just say "I'm already ready already!" lol

Yea I get that but that's situational. There are many games where people are mainly healthy. 36 meters isn't as small as you may think. Its more reliable imo. Personally I think aftercare triumphs them both but that's highly debatable. Also many killers are loud and make audio noises when they are in a chase so there are other ways to see if someone is in a chase without using the perk
I still disagree. If someone is within 36 meters working a gen or a gate, you are likely to hear it. You don't need Bond to know that they're there. In contrast, if someone is injured across the entire map and opening a gate, you can see it.
I liked the original Aftercare, but with the nerf to it, it goes away too quickly and doesn't cover the whole team.

While I think empathy is alright, I think bond is more versatile. Not only can I see people if I need to heal, but i can see if people are on gens, somebody running for a save, doing a door. You have more awareness with bond and get more info
Not true. You get less information because you only get 30 meters or so of info. With Empathy, you get mapwide info of people on generators, gates, etc., as long as they are injured. If someone is running No Mither, you see them the whole match. If you are going against a Legion or Plague, you see the whole team most of the game due to the frequent states of injury.

"...these are just 2 examples. It doesn't really matter what they're all running x4, it just matters that it's x4."
The point isn't what perks, just that it's stacked. Nothing is equivalent on the killer side, yet it is rampantly abused by SWF groups and dare I say extremely competent solo survivors, although much less.
And it does become a perk problem when they start loading 2nd chance perks and the game suddenly goes from 2 hits to down a survivor to upwards of 4+. That's so extremely against the nature of the game.
Again. Even stacks aren't as common as you say. I play so many games. I see a few meta perks here and there at all ranks and most of them can be countered. Just play an OP killer (there are plenty to choose from).
