Look, idk how you play and you dont know how i play.

I expressed my opinion and reasons for what i think. You are free to disagree and refute my opinion with yours. The changes are still very recent and things could change as people adapt.

I just ask for you to not bring up skill issue as a point, she is new, survivors and killers are adapting to her. And i dont want to say that people that are performing worst at 3 gens with her as skill issue, especially when i dont know, i havent seen you play.

So you know my opinion, i know yours, its fine. We will see how people adapt. Maybe i will end up agreeing with you or you with me

    That's fair

That was rather harsh seeing how the changes aren't even a week old. My apologies

Easy fix, once they are hit at least once, they lose collision only for the killer

Or just remove the collision altogether as soon as they are rescued

And you can still be tunneled, just perform a conspicuous action in front of the killer

And what if 2 survivors are unhooked at the same time? Do both become immune? Niether? Does the game crash?

Things are always easy if you look at it from the outside

It is entirely human to be mad at someone else in time of crisis, but it wastes a bunch of time and getting mad at bHVR is not an outlet either. bHVR can only help if the leak happens through DBD. but as they investigated so far they have not found anything concrete. One thing I know tho is that blaming bHVR before they are proven guilty is a waste of our breath. People need to come together to find out how the leak works if its that.

    • If you are getting DDoS'ed you need an IP change stat, check if your router can do it or ask your Service Provider.
    • Once that is done, all we can do is sit, make sure everything is jotted down what happens see how long it takes to repeat.

I unfortunately have no clue myself how its done, but it can be done in a lot of ways. Review the best practises for internet security.

I know there was a way to leak your IP if you accepted a Steam Voice Call from someone, 8 years ago. idk if it was fixed.

If its via steam, I think checking if this option is set to on in steam settings. it. might be a shot. We will see.

Yeah, i've had no issue with random crashes that seem to happen only when i'm winning after i set that option to never.

I'm not confident enough to say it 100% fixes it but it does seem to help.

  • @Rudjohns said:

How to fix tunneling: give the unhooked survivor literally invincibility. They cannot go down unless being grabbed from inside a locker or if they do any conspicuous action. The invincibility effect ends once the 5 gens are completed.

Rework Borrowed Time to become an endgame perk. Maybe give 15 seconds of speed and endurance to the survivor performing the unhook as well? No need for Off The Record to have endurance, maybe give "no pools of blood"?

Now killers are literally forced to not go for the same survivor back to back.

With that, and another tweak to solve camping, it would be enough, and then killers could get a buff to balance it out.

So they can bodyblock for their teammates without any fear?

Hell even if you work out all the issues this would bring up i would still hate it.

Being immune to everything when you are unhooked just removes all the tension, it's boring as hell. I'll take being tunneled out then. Atleast you get to have a chase then

  • @BlueHorkew said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3378260#Comment_3378260

That doesn't happen and doesn't really matter.

She only needs 1 or 2 active drones to 3 gen.

She herself can monitor 1 or 2 gens depending on the map and all drones have 10 second delay before being able to be removed by the correct survivors, so trapped survivors need ro go away.

Besides she basically has no cooldowns, since you can just recall and place drones with no cooldown. The only cooldown you have is if you activate a drone from long distance, which you dont do because 3 gens and the traps.

But since the traps buff her chase. She is just stronger at 3 genning. Because that is the only way her power works. Doing any other strategy with her power, basically means you have no power.

    What an amazing killer design.

"But since the traps buff her chase. She is just stronger at 3 genning."

This is objectivily false, every claw trap removes one of her drones that makes her 3 gen possible. The speed boost while significant in chase is practically nothing when it comes to map traversel.

If every survivor hacks her drones her 3 gen capability is barely better then a trapless trapper, she has to commit to chases to benifit from the chase boost.

If 2 people have claw traps and SM sticks to the one gen she doesn't have droned then the other survivors have free reign to disable them

I'm not going to argue that she's a well designed killer cause she's not really. But it's pretty clear your problems with her is a skill issue, not a design one

  • Quite a black and white way to look at it isn't it?

There is a zone in the middle there where you can play as fair as possible while not giving up your own desires to play the game you want to

  • Are you forgetting she loses the drone as long as the survivor has a claw trap?

If you faced a SM who had all 4 drones up and 127% speed you faced a hacker.

2 survivors interacting with her power already means she isn't keeping tabs on 3 gens.

Flashlight blinds are based on your field of view basically. If you increase it it increase the angle which you can be blinded

It’s probably leftover from when shadowborn used to make you more vulnerable to flashlights too

Yeah, i found some helpfull pics on the wiki that show how much it affects it

  • I see many people say Shadowborn gives you a bigger range to get flashlighted.

Is there a video of this somewhere?

It wouldn't be the first time the community was convinced of something that wasen't actually true

  • To my understanding we have both reached that point years ago and never at the same time

  • Darkness among us as it brought Legion which is the killer i enjoy most playing

Darkness among us as it was fricking terrible when it first came out

I mean... plenty of people do very well while spreading hooks, so it's not like it'd be going too much out of normal gameplay, or like killers would be inflicting themselves with a dramatic handicap. At higher mmr maybe, but in lower and mid where you can get 4ks by sneezing a little too hard on survivors, it would raise killrates by a lot. (Exaggeration for dramatic effect)

Gift of Pain is from 4 select scourge hooks on the map, not every hook. By comparison, 10% / 20% would be like an inescapable 4 stack Thana that can't be gotten rid of the later in the game you get.

The reason early 3v1 are so punishing is precisely that those last gens are extremely hard to pop when killer deals pressure, especially since 90s gens. That's even the reason why people think on how to compensate losing teammates early to not make escaping impossible.

A 3gen with this perk would be impossible to break. But more than that, when you have a few last gens to do, doing them without spreading out is exposing the team to losing all progress if killer comes to this one gen. Considering the natural efficiency debuff of 15% per survivor on a gen, it'd be a win win on the killer side : either 20% speed debuff alone or 15% speed debuff and only one presssure point.

I get wanting an incentive to spread out hooks, but it's a moot point if gens take eons to pop and make reaching endgame extremely hard, all that by having killer play naturally.

It could also incentive survivors to stealth instead of taking agro and sharing pressure, because their teammate having a debuff makes them less valuable as a gen jockey.

    That's why I'm skeptical.

Yeah that's fair, like i said it's more the concept numbers don't need to be set in stone.

You could even say like 8% for the first hook and 4% for the second for a total of 12% to really incentivise first hooks

I feel like that would probably be a bit too weak but it is true that you need to keep all skill ranges in mind

  • @HugTheHag said:

I think it's better (can't really argue that it's worse), and perks that make survivors aware of each other's presence are fun, but the numbers are too high. That's just my opinion though.

I went for pretty high numbers as it does push you in a ineffective playstyle

For reference gift of pain gives you a 16% penalty if you heal after a unhook.

That said it's mostly a concept, numbers could change

  • God i want Chucky so bad

  • I still think DL is worse. Leverage may do nothing but atleast it doesn't buff the survivors.

Imo DL is so bad that i would leave the perk slot blank before picking it

but i mean if a killer only seems to get noed kills without hooks then they get boosted up the mmr ranks...it isn't exactly because the killer was stomping the team out based on skill

Look at it from the survivor point of view too

If a killer wins entirely cause of noed. Should he get weaker survivors, or stronger ones who can deal with noed?

If you made the killer lose mmr when he only wins by killing everyone with noed eventually you'll get a mmr range where there are nothing but noed players and survivors who can't deal with it.

Same with camping, tunneling and any other cheese strat. If a killer wins with these they should go up in rating untill they face people who can deal with it. Regardless of how much "skill" it took

The problem is that many people look at mmr as a system that tells you how good you are while it's just a matchmaking system, nothing more and nothing less. It's a problem the devs kinda created themself by calling it skill based matchmaking first

There is more to matchmaking then skill. A killer who has a 12 hook game with the first dead on 9 hooks should get stronger survivors cause they won so decisively.

A killer that gets a 4k with 4 hooks and camping every one also should get stronger opponents or else they can win every match by camping and never lose

People are too blinded by the word skill, your mmr going up doesn't always mean it's cause of skill and it's not a reward or punishment. Also one of the reasons you can't see your number, cause it really shouldn't matter

  • Can't argue with that logic

Well, personally I would only talk to people who are polite and have a long experience in dbd and not people who have 100 hours, are rude and think they know everything about the game just because they won 5 games

I think you'd find it hard to find those kind of people. Even some of the long experienced people who'd you think are polite get really snappy if you tell them they are wrong on something. Especially if they actually are

That said i would love to see like a interview between some of the popular streamers and the devs. But i feel it's just going to lead to toxic comments from the community again

  • They used to do that.

Sadly the community has made it pretty clear we don't deserve it.

Honestly, i don't know how they put up with us

  • @MrPeanutbutter said:

If you can figure out a way to counter auto DH scripts, let me know

If you suspect a survivor having it swing at a pallet after they dropped it, auto dead hard can't see there is a pallet between you and the survivor so they will DH for no reason which is a pretty sure way of knowing as no one would willingly DH in that situation.

Another way to see if it's in play is listening to the cries of the survivor, if they play their going down sound then there is a chance it's in play. But that's not a guarantie as they could have just timed it well.

While it isn't exactly rare it isn't as common anymore, BHVR did do a sweep of it it seems

  • Blindness is imo a very underrated status effect. You just can't see how much it helps sometimes cause the effects are not in your view but the survivors view.

I have had a lot of downs vs WoO users who i blinded who were well in range of a pallet if they had seen the aura.

  • Play With Your Food is very underrated.

Even 1 token can make a big difference in how fast you can down a survivor. More then one cause the obsession keeps showing themself and it gets silly very fast

what type of legion build/playstyle do you use? trapper isn't bad if you use his iris but still underpowered

Everything honestly. Legion is so flexible that i change my build regulary.

Mostly chase related. Sometimes stealth. Lately been running perkless a lot to improve.

Trapper is rough, but nothing sounds better in this game then hearing a trap shut followed by a scream

if a noed 1k (without hooks) is treated the same way as 3 hooking the same survivor and getting the same 1k that is ridiculous

The problem with that is looking at mmr from a single match. Mmr looks at all your matches.

1 hooked with noed might be the same as 3 hooks normally (might not, we don't know. I think i heard them mention time was also a factor) but in a avarage of 100 matches the person going for hooks is going to get more then the person relying on a hex totem that shows it's aura to survivors.

    One match means very little

  • @Malkhrim said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3374657#Comment_3374657

It is not a very good perk for Legion, though, as their killer instinct only tracks people inside their TR. Sure, the survivor will still carry your TR, but you can't really control where they go. If they don't move closer to a survivor, you won't know where they are. If you can see where they are, they will be hearing at least the edge of a TR and will be at least a little more cautious. They will know you're close, just not THAT close. Either way, that's quite situational.

It's honestly pretty okay with Legion.

Not having a terror radius while everyone is usually injured is not a bad position to be in. Not seeing people with Killer Instinct is a small price to pay for that, especially when you are in full control when that happens

You need to change your playstyle a bit but it can work really well on indoor maps

  • Boring i'd say, every match would be about the same then.

I still stand with my notion that people overvalue balance way to much. Variety is what makes a game replayable.

Imo a perfectly balanced DbD is a DbD that won't survive long

  • @AGM said:

Still pretty useless. Blindness is at its strongest over an extended period of time where the killer can cause enough chaos to be able to take advantage of it. Anything that inflicts 90+ seconds of blindness or more is still not enough to make me sure that there isn't a better perk/add-on I could be running because you don't know if any survivors are in a SWF, which negates it entirely, or if they're even using aura perks and therefore being denied information.

For an albeit extreme example, take Freddy's blindness add-ons (which don't stack). What does inflicting any amount of blindness on a survivor he's currently chasing even do for him? Or on a survivor on the other side of the map disarming one of his snares?

If certain killers had an add-on that inflicted blindness indefinitely until they perform a certain action then it might be decent, but otherwise it's really bad.

"What does inflicting any amount of blindness on a survivor he's currently chasing even do for him?"

Denying WoO which is really popular now, downing and slugging them means they can't see their teammate, add knockout and everyone is in the dark, if you leave them be they can't see you with fogwise, no finding people with bond to heal them up.

I'm not going to say blindness is secretly the strongest status effect in DbD but it does more then you'd think.

Take a look at the survivors loadout in your next 10 or so games and see how many perks you shut off for a time. I think you'd be surprised

this video is still one of the best to help new killers out

Most important tip and one you hear surprisingly little is slugging for pressure.

It's very rare that instantly chasing a nearby survivor you know is there after a down is not worth it. Especially at the start

Don't overvallue hooks too. Not all of them are equal if you have 4 hooks with 1 survivors on deadhook with 1 gen remaining and you find and down the survivor you haven't hooked yet, don't bother hooking them.

That's 15~ seconds you are giving for very little to the remaining survivors. With 2 minutes untill they die the survivors are not really pressured to save them instantly and can just focus on finishing the last gen and then resque

Leave them and find the other survivors. Somebody still needs to leave to pick that downed survivor up. As far as pressure goes a slug is almost always as good as a hook

  • Because she's not as weak as people think she is.

Sorry but people who think her high killrate are purelly because of one strategy that requires a green addon to make work effectivily are coping

Even the person who made that strat popular has shown that he doesn't need it to win.

I wouldn't be oppose to Sadeko getting buffs, especially some QoL changes. But to say she's terrible and desperatly needs changes is a bit of a stretch to me.

As for why the skull merchant got changes so fast i'm starting to believe these changes were prepared in advance.

Release the killerin ptb, hear what the community says and prepare some ideas for changes, release the killer for real with minor changes and then based on the feedback apply whatever changes they had prepared that based on the feedback works best.

  • @Nazzzak said:

Actually it's unlikely to raise MMR. The devs have said MMR will increase when you win against survivors/killers who are of a higher MMR than you. If you win against a lower MMR opponent then the game basically says 'well of course you beat the weaker opponent' and your MMR won't increase. But it will still result in the need for more lobby dodging, as the game is designed to offer you more challenging players at times so you have the opportunity to remain within your suitable bracket. So it will keep throwing higher MMR players your way, and you'll have to keep dodging them more and more.

Small correction, i'm pretty sure your mmr always increases if you win.

The amount it increases varries on how strong your opponents are but it will always increase

  • Ehm do you think it's reasonable that survivors have to watch if a killer dodges to then leave the moment it happens?

There is zero indication of this happening outside of the slash of the killer silently going out. I generaly tab out to watch youtube while waiting for a match to start. Am i to blame for bad matchmaking?

Also the blame isn't just on killers, survivors leave lobbies often too and it creates the same problem.

Do you dodge as killer when you see a survivor leave? And if you do didn't you just create the problem you are trying to fix?

  • Now be prepared for next match where none of your teammates decide to do gens.

  • @RaSavage42 said:

The issue I see is their running out of ideas for those two

Scourge Hook perks: We have... Gen regression, Aura reading, Gen slowdown and faster hook timers

Boons: Healing, Faster movement, Aura hiding and Picking oneself up from the dying state

What else can they do given the limits they set for themselves

I don't think that they are nearly out of ideas

For boons you could make a "trap" one like haunted grounds that affects the killer when they snuff it

And for scourges i would like to see one where every unique survivor you hook on a scourge hook you get a token and on 4 some really powerfull effect happens

That's already 2 new concepts that i just came up with on the spot.

It most likely is just spacing things out, hexes also had some distance betwren them on releases sometimes

  • Gratefull for the game in general and all the support it still recieves after almost 7 years

  • I think they will rather put a updated version in a ptb again and see how it goes from there.

  • @Tsulan said:

But why was the whole concept greenlighted?

Did no one think about how the community would react to a killer, whos only power is to 3 gen?

To be fair this is kinda hind sight 20/20

It's true that her power heavilly leans into 3 genning but that didn't mean it would have resulted in 45 minute games

In the ptb her 3 genning wasen't a problem at all with the cooldown on drones, if the survivors took out her 3 3gen drones at the same time she couldn't replace them all instantly.

It's always really easy afterwards to say how obvious something is

While i´m not one of the doom guys, i think sometimes a bucket of cold water can be really wake some people up.

Killer concept was going to be used obviously to lock down 3 gens. If the community wouldn´t have voiced their concern or even worse, just quietly left. Then absolutely nothing would have changed.

There is a difference between voicing your concerns and screaming at the top of your lungs the game is going to die cause we got a lady with a silly mask and not a robot.

This isn't about the helpfull feedback people left, this is about the people who yell the game is going to die before they even could have downloaded the ptb and mostly come from people who later reveal they haven't even played the game for months

If people only yelled how the devs are out of touch and the game is doomed without even telling why they think that nothing would change either

  • Never!! Game will die any minute now

  • Started this game as a trapper main, then switched to OG freddy when he came out. After a break discovered he was completely changed and switched to Legion.

Been dabbling in other killers but i always go back to Legion.

Guess i like the more tactical killers rather then micro intensive killers

  • I'm surprised the response to the feedback came so quick. Really happy for that

  • Pretty excitted about the changes, they look good.

You almost seem reasonable, so I'll share.

Killers dodge lobbies for the same reason survivors dodge lobbies OR kill themselves on hooks.

The player does not want to deal with the situation they perceive is being presented.

    For example:

See what you assume is a SWF 4 in lobby.

Do not want the headache right now.

    Dodge lobby.

You have a huge amount of killer hours, you can fill in a thousand more understandable scenarios where a killer might dodge.

    From a survivor side:

My solo queue team mate gets downed in 10 seconds.

I rush at the killer and T-bag in his face until he hooks me.

I suicide on hook and go to next match.

I'm sure you can fill in another book full of situations that would make the above occur.

The guy you quoted said balance issues are the reason, maybe that is correct. BUT WHO CARES?

its the perception of balance issues that motivate the above behaviors. I agree that where there is smoke there is usually a fire, but it doesn't matter. Perception of imbalance would still lead people to do the above.

As for Blight and OP add-ons and every situation like this, not everyone WANTS to play like that at the moment, so they lobby shop or suicide on hook or bow out of the match early.

It seems easy to just force players especially killers to take what MMR hands them, and it is an easy fix.

But its fixing the wrong thing. Its fixing the player to satisfy the other players who have had to wait a long time due to high prestige, item carrying or whatever people perceive as being indicative of an unfair advantage.

It's not necesarilly lobby dodging that's the problem. Like in your example if the player that dodges the 4 swf survivors gets other survivors that are roughly their skill level but with less items and idem for the swf 4 then there wouldn't be a problem.

Idealy the system shouldn't just widen it's range to the extreme levels it does now but i don't know how it works exactly, only the devs know and there could be a reason why they do it like this. Maybe the time it takes would be rediculously long if it didn't.

I agree that hiding the lobbies isn't exactly a perfect fix but it would help, it's hard to percieve unfair advantages when they aren't shown. And it's true that players could just throw the match in that case but atleast they would have to experience what they deem is unbalanced.

But it's true, it's not really the most ideal fix, just the easiest. And it would probably have some concequences with killers not being able to see items anymore so i don't see them actually removing the lobby

Also thanks! Almost reasonable is one of the nicest things i've been told here

I can only comment from my experience and that has never felt to be the case. Besides, the amount of killers/survivors who are available within the mmr who play every day in each region must be massive enough to deal with that.

Lobby dodging isn't an issue for me. It's the way people play in trials to deliberately affect their mmr that's the main problem. From my experience, this is far more common.

Unfortunately, until people grow up, this will continue to happen.

Fair that you can only comment from your experience but you are only one person.

There is plenty of evidence of the matchmaking really screwing up matching by matching new players vs 2k+ hour players and it seems to point that lobby dodging affects this.

It would honestly help if a mod or dev could add some clarity to the situation. Only they know just how much it actually affects things.

We can only speculate based on the info we have after all

"So you are intentionally creating unbalanced matches cause you don't want unbalanced matches?"

You want someone to suffer an unbalanced match instead of a random person they don't know?

"Please tell me you can see the irony in that"

I find it pretty weird that instead of focusing on the source of the problem (balance issues), you instead blame the people having to deal with it.

"have you concidert that maybe the reason you are getting the unbalanced swf 4 medkit deadsquad is because another killer had the same thought process as you before?"

And I see zero issue with them doing that. Why would I blame them for that? That's illogical.

"That's like complaining a restaurant got your order wrong when everybody purposfully takes the wrong order"

That is a terrible analogy and not at all what is going on. A better one would be blaming a customer for sending back an order that was raw and inedible instead of blaming the source of the problem which is the cook who made it.

"This threat is a real eye opener. Hope the devs see this and do something about it. Either punish lobby shopping or just disband the entire lobby if someone leaves."

Hopefully this issue opens their eyes to the heavy balance problems and gets them fixed. You're too focused on solving the symptom rather than the sickness itself.

I don't believe the game is as imbalanced as you think it is, can you really say the game is imbalanced when we throw all matchmaking out of the window.

That 4 medkit swf team might just be a fair match against the 4 slowdown perk nurse or alchemy ring blight.

Ofcourse when they decide to dip out and mid mmr trapper main gets those survivors he'll get destroyed. But you can't really say that's because the game at it's core is horribly unbalanced when we screw with who faces what

And even if the game is as badly balanced as you say it is this lobby dodging prevents it from being balanced properly

It works the other way around too, a low mmr player might see a survivor team with 4 brown medkits and leaves, then those low mmr survivors suddenly face a high mmr onryo, she obviously destroyes them and if that happens regulary (which judging by this thread and it's responses isn't a bold claim) then it appears sadeko is doing allright at higher levels and won't recieve buffs.

One thing that i do agree on that it's not really the players fault that they don't want to face matches that are way above what they can do.

The whole backfill system needs to either be way more strict and not favor speed over accuracy as much or there needs to be something that prevents it to be messed with so much

Sorry but you can't claim a game is unbalanced when the playerbase knowingly screws with that balance

You can't cure the sickness if the symptoms could very well be false

There is zero reason to defend how it works now, it's in the favor of everyone that matchmaking works as well as it can.

I can't believe you enjoy dodging lobbies, you would want to get matches that are in your skill level right away right?

This post is not to accuse people who lobbydodge much but to bring attention to how harmfull it might be to do so

I think it has more to do with items or looking like a swf than it does prestige.

"Personally, I think that if you dodge (assuming you don't see a potential cheater) you are knowingly and purposefully screwing up the system."

I disagree with this. The entity at fault is the game being poorly balanced and people having to dodge matches the game isn't balanced for. They're doing the work the balance team should be doing.

This would be like saying if I'm in a 4 man swf with 4 medkits the killer is the bad person for dodging, of which I whole heartedly disagree with. He is absolutely justified in dodging that. The game isn't balanced for that.

So you are intentionally creating unbalanced matches cause you don't want unbalanced matches?

Please tell me you can see the irony in that

have you concidert that maybe the reason you are getting the unbalanced swf 4 medkit deadsquad is because another killer had the same thought process as you before?

How do you expect the balance team to do their job if we continue to screw with what they are doing?

That's like complaining a restaurant got your order wrong when everybody purposfully takes the wrong order

This threat is a real eye opener. Hope the devs see this and do something about it. Either punish lobby shopping or just disband the entire lobby if someone leaves.

  • Yeah you're going to have some mob mentality hatred with this post.

Tbh i agree, you can pretty much throw anything on her and you can make it work. It's even better then Legion cause expose perks work on her too. She's pretty good with hexes too

I'm having an absolute blast with her. It's just a shame so many people are taking the boring route

  • I prefer og Freddy way more so that would be my choice. However skull merchant is simular enough that it wouldn't really matter that much to me anymore.

Best buff OG Freddy could have is to give "incapacitated" to survivors in dream transition. That would fix so much of his problems

I rarely see any lobby dodging and I never dodge myself. However I don't see a problem with dodging lobbies, especially if someone has been having a crap time of it and the flashlights cause them some anxiety. It's if someone disconnects during a trial which vexes me (although sometimes that cannot be helped).

Problem is that when they dodge lobies the matchmaking scrambles to find a replacement fast and favors speed vs fairness at that point.

If you ever hear from 1k and up hours getting matched against new players it most likely is cause their first opponent who matched their skill has dodged the lobby

People always complain about mmr but they completely screw with it at the same time
