That just sounds like loser talk making excuses why they lost.

Fact: if you're good enough to loop the killer for 5 minutes, you're good enough to get out the exit gates. And that is what will happen most of the time. Especially at lower ranks. Sure, you will get bad games every now and then, but they are just that: bad games. You will on average do well enough to escape more often than not if you are actually significantly more skilled than your opponent. This is true even in Solo Q.

A long arduous road to pull yourself out of Rank 20 to get to the good ranks? #########? Sounds like you just want to be carried by your team. A good survivor will naturally get out of Rank 20 just by playing and end up in Red Ranks without even trying. I depipped last week to Rank 12 because of the depip bug. I just kept playing rigght no I'm back at Red Ranks again. I'm not even trying to win it just happens, even though all I'm doing is collecting Chinese lootboxes with a junk Plunderer Appraisal Ace in the Hole build.

I'm so sick of survivors bellyaching about how bad Solo Q is and how they're stuck with bad teammates all the time and how they can't show off ther skills because of it yada yada. Man up and grow some accountability for your performance in the game. If you are bad you will die. If you are good you will escape. Stop blaming the killer or your teammates for not being able to do well in the game.

This isn't aimed specifically at you SocialDistomancy more at LoopeduntilDaylight actually. His complaints are exactly the problem with the survivor population of this game. Survivors refusing to take responsibility for themselves and blaming everything on everything else except themselves.

Thanks for the first line saving me the time of reading your loser response lol. Enjoy your unpaid 9 to 5 in a bad game lol

Perks and items were heavily restricted. No duplicates and no keys.

and they only averaged 2 kills with those restrictions in place at high skill levels? lol holy chit. imagine without restrictions lul then it probably would be all escaped or 1 kill half the time at least

The thing is with DBD it can be so hard to show your skills and get that rank. Especially when matched with rank 20s. On Call of duty with a bad game you could still wipe out a lot of the enemy team solo. In DBD even if you were the best looper in the game and you ran the killer for all 5 gens the game would be like "well.....you didnt do gens so lose a point, you didn't unhook anyway, you didnt heal anyone, lose more points...oh man you're trash have a de-pip".

And once you're put in the low ranks it's a very long road to pull yourself out and get to the good games because at low ranks so much of your scoring depends on the killer. Killers dont get hooks? no points for you because no altruism. Killer facecamps? no chase points. etc etc

that's why I assume it won't be entirely based on whether or not you escaped or 3k or 4k but would also go into chase length, whether or not the survivor escaped a chase, how frequently chases were escaped in the match against the killer, time spent on gens and time spent not doing one in between being on one (a common complaint from manys olos about their teammates) safe unhooks versus safe if you're the one pulling people down and probably lots of other things. They might even factor perks used into it, like if you roll in with unbreakable/soul, DS, dead hard it automatically gives you a slight bump just to avoid too much of that being bumped down into super low elos against killers less able if not unable to handle it even yet.

It's gotta be based on stuff like that, and more of course, for this game since if it's simply "If escaped elo up if not escaped elo down" this game will die and I stand by that since games like a way to be dead and possibly the evil dead will be pulling people away from it if they offer much more fun to them. if elo is handled as simply and inaccurately as that, it'll be mostly swf playing this game by the end of the year at a much lower pop to boot. And when a game like this gets to that point in it's lifespan, it starts having a rough time holding onto the other side and retaining any newbies that try the wrong side out or get ######### talked on survivor side by 2 or 3 mans for being new and not getting a pHD in the game before tyring to play it. It'll basically become a small circle jerk of sweat factories and essentially unable to hold onto any new players and be doomed to that current state indefinitely or until major overhauls and soft reboots thatw ould drive those circlejerks away from the game. I've seen both scenarios play out before actually in other games.

  • @Tsulan said:

Well according to the devs idea of 2 kills, 2 escapes. The tournament must look perfect for the devs.

And thx for the code :)

looks it being just atad tougher to juke and tad easier to hit evened things out a bit if that was the way it turned out on tournament level. did they have to limit perks in some way, like the number of survivors on the etam allowed to use ds or did they use the changed ds version instead? I'm curious about everything in play there since I would expect many of the matches to have ended with 1 kill if I'm being honest if the teams were all on comms and the very best like no one ever was.

If thats the case that kind of placement is dumb as hell and has no place in DBD. I depipped about 3 games last night. The killers aren't even always that much better at high rank, they just bring a better loadout.

Game 1 - iri head huntress and survivors hook suicides

Game 2 - lost altruism because the killer hard camped the basement and wouldn't let anyone get a rescue. I died on 1st hook. Got no chase points because one of the survivors literally camped and bodyblocked the pallet I was running towards. Don't think it was intentional though as this player was so new they had been walking around all game and not touhcing gens.

Game 3 - another game with hard camping and hook suicides

So the game thinks "boy this person isn't pipping they must really be trash better stick them with the rank 20s" but how on earth am I meant to do better?

Its interesting how despite this the game keeps putting me against red rank killers with the most try hard builds. Every killer had at least 1 purple/iri add on.

to some degree, after giving a flat elo and maybe a slight amount extra based on the ranks at the point it's flipped on they'll need to throw everybody against a few people above or beneath whatever that totals out to and based on how those matches gof or them with stats (in this game number of hooks or amount of time on gens and chases escaped or something for some examples) it'll get a general direction to start fine tuning the further matches. It would happen to a lot of people whether intentionally or just based on mmr being new and nobody really having much of an elo yet to sort them out until everybody played enough matches. Whether anybody could tolerate it or not, no matter what, the initial period after it's flipped onw ill be hectic whether they want it to be or not unfortunately. They could have avoided by dealing with the issue in 2016 when the game was new and everybody was new to it, and then newbies coming in over time wouldn't have to deal with vets when they were new. But you wait 4 1/2 years and this is the kind of thing that will happen.

Game 1 - Cornfield against a rank 20 Pyramid Head

    Game 2 - Hawkins against a rank 7 Hillbilly

A few strange match ups last night. Survivors rankings weren't too mixed, just the level in quality between Game 1 and 2

when that happens in some games it's from attempts to determine initial placement. like when a new league season would start back when I used to play, I sometimes had a wild disparity between the skill levels of people in the placement games in ranked. Once it placed and i ground up to the real elo it started being more consistent. It then became pretty boring eventually though, knowing there was no more room to grow and with too many matches being too back and forth so I'd go back to blinds for the rest of those seasons for the most part since you could superfed pretty easily in blinds sometimes which was more fun by that point when not seeing 4 or 5 mans on the other side lol.

If a lot of others have started having the same experiences you did, it's possible the mmr has been back on and that's something they can flip on serverside without a patch I assume so people wouldn't even realize they did it for a while unless they decided to tell them. dbd is teh kind of game that's probably not gonna be very fun once a true elo is reached, at least not for killers I assume. People are gonna smurf this game to hell swf and killers both and will probably buy a few accounts to save for that the next time a sale rolls around. It's unavoidable once mmr comes. And yes devs are aware it will happen and will not object to a few more sales of course. I've seen it with plenty other games, and even a couple of games that were trapped into slipping they were even banning some addicted players to sell new keys (originally was called warz one, became infestion after steam) so the devs will allow smurfing trust me. They'll also sell a dlc or two per account at least for killers smurfing, so they will let it happen. dollar dollar bills yall

Exactly my point as to why I don't want a drag queen survivor.

dbd isn't a serious game though. there's already people running around dressed like santa's little helper, christmas presents, bunny rabbits hell even wearing their pajamas too I think out of some of the cosmetics. It would stand out among default costumes for sure, but, it probably wouldn't be the oddest compared to many of the cosmetics. you got people dressed like aristotle now in the game even. oktoberfest, mardis gras or whatever, all sorts of weird costumes already in the game. For some killers, it might lighten up the mood a bit chasing them around and getting some laughs out it. hell knows they need more opportunities to sweat a little less and relieve the tension sometimes in the game.

On Ash I often wore the hardware store shirt, with the shorts, wearing a muppet over the glove arm. the weirder costumes make the game more fun sometimes.

  • Imagine how funny chasing somebody around lookin like that would be though on the one hand lol

I don't what having a fear of spiders has to do with this but I am not racist, sexist, homophobic or transphobic. I have no problem with drag queens irl, I just think that having a dbd character who is a drag queen would just be out of place.

Actually being serious for a moment rocky horror could be pretty funny in the game. lol. I can't take dbd seriously, so something like that or willy's wonderland or fnaf I'm starting to think might be more interesting and entertaining than their poor attempts at being scary in their newer killers.

That could work, for some people even better actually like for myself.

  • @Shaped said:

All names should be shown only at the end imo. That would be more fair.

well maybe in lobby, but once in the matcht he killer does need that information available since it helps in some situations like against a 4 man swf all with the same characters, trinkets, and cosmetics to deliberately confuse the killer. when you see the portrait you can know which you injured through it, help keep track of them in the gameplay and also keep track of death hooks that way. without that capability they'd probably straight up never let another lobby like that get a match in the game ever again I bet.

  • two main reasons, harassment, and "I don't like that or the way in which this guy killed me before so I'd rather sit another 20 minutes in queue and blame him and behavior for it on the forums while I wait". iirc, when the game came out we could find out who the killer was and also see each others' ranks and both things caused problems

I would like to know how theyre going to balance it for that. If you are a machine as a killer are you gonna get all the bully squads? I would absolutely make a smurf account and ######### around if that was the case.

That's typically what people do in games, especially ones that are free games like league where it was incredibly common. You get burnt out or just wanna roflstomp some people and you make and save a fresh account or few to hop onto sometimes. I'm pretty sure if mmr works as intended that'll become fairly common in this game, not that people don't do it already to use a low smurf to get their swf a rank 16 killer or something it'll just become a normal thing to deal with especially when the game is on sale. There is really no way around it, besides rolling the eyes when you recognize one especially when you're on one and wanted to enjoy a good steamroll without competing to carry your team better lol. Depending on how many survivors mainly swf are doing it, it may or may not be a good idea for burnt out killers to do it. It'll depend on how likely they are or aren't to evade the 'bully' squads doing it. But if it keeps them playing...

I really understood why people playing as swf. Solo experience is not playable.

the irony is the more swf there are, especially of the 3 man constantly breaking the lobby tetris, the fewer killers there will be staying on out of new ones and the more old ones will get burnt out over time. it's gonna be fun when it gets tot hat point cause I wanna see all the "why is survivor queue so long pls fix" threads start up again lol

I started playing DBD because of the killers and Played with all of them... I started with the wraith, I loved the "fake" stealth but as I got to better and better ranks, survs just started getting more and more toxic, constant flash clicks, constant teabag, and constant sabosquads... So I had to adapt, started with the doctor and everything was fun again... you gonna body block to unhook? I will shock you to oblivion, gonna flash stun after a pallet? shock, gonna tried to save your teabagger friend? blast and hit. But once again I got to even higher ranks and I started getting constant SWF with map offerings and keys, SWFs with the same clothes, and once again I adapted, I got around playing Freddy, and now? I am dirty Infinite Freddy main with Mori in almost every match...

Before you downvote and judge me... Think... Are you creating the toxic killers that you complain about so much?

You may think that it is childish and toxic to the game and maybe you are right. But I just got tired of getting spammed with toxicity, I got tired.

'story backing up a butt' in a game like this, only in dbd lol. I hope a way to be dead doesn't turn out to be garbage, same with evil dead and back 4 blood. I was afraid of warner brokers' monetization potentially killing back 4 blood, hopefully they won't make versus p2w selling specials since it'll segregate the tactics potential in the mode and drive alot off, while low numbers would then dot he rest as in any low pop game ... if they keep it to just campaigns sold and release no more than a few a year but make em good hopefully they won't kill the playerbase off or drive them back to left 4 dead too soon.

The point is that BHVR said they'd add in some LGBTQ+ rep last year (and then immidiately we got a straight white man with a girlfriend and a child but I digress-), and we know that chapter planning can take anywhere from 6 months to a year. Furthermore, people have been speculating that it's a guy in that dress, or a trans woman, etc. Which is perfectly fine to speculate about.

But then people came along with their "forced diversity"/"i dont want it"/"would ruin dbd" (or my personal favourite "ugh ugh it's so yuck to think about") and now it's less a "oh this character could be LGBTQ+" and more "okay but WHY would this ruin DBD why not have it in the game?"

I think what some are asking themselves is what the orientation of any of the characters in this game has to do with the game and gameplay itself. It's not like we're playing dragon age origins. a game where romance options, character interactions and flowing story is the focus of the game and essential for a good experience. It's just lulz in dbd. If they did like rito and made an rpg based on their lore and characters, and didn't impose anything on anyone but laid out plenty of options for them in their personal playthrough preferences then the only people that would complain would probably be those complaining for the sake of doing it or those trying to push others' buttons to entertain themselves.

Yes, it does. I ain't in easy street. Killers likewise experienced missed hits and other errata. You both are talking a bit like greens.

purple when I played actually, but what does that matter when dealing with a dude clearly baiting fights. it doesn't look too good outside a small circle jerk to brag about playing so much of a chiddy game that you got the achievement for most time played in a month. That looks real sad to some people. and it's funny too, I'm imagining steve urkel responding to me now actually.

  • I think it's time to let ruin go and start the healing. nice bait btw. well played.

  • not everybody sees value in their time being spent playing games they wait for a lobby twice or three times as long as they spend typically actually playing in game for. when it got long enough I started forgetting I was in queue and coming back hooked, standing with crows inf ront of a hook, or dead or on the end game results screen (once came back int he iddle of clown mori on me) I realized I already wasn't playing any more anyways so whys pend money on electricity for it.

I decided once it consistently was over 5 minutes to wait I was done and the few times I ran the game again if the first match reached 5 minutes and still hadn't been found I close the game and shelved it again for a couple more weeks. eventuially I deleted it on both platforms I play on and only downloaded again because the 50k bp a day for 2 weeks was barely enought o be worth putting ontot he ssds again. but it'll be deleted again the moment those are gone since I've already seen a thread pop up about queue times again and won't even bother trying lol. the space is best put into toher games until the next time they offer enough bp worth downloading and logging in once a day for, or untilt he queues get under 5 minutes and a better game still hasn't come out and marketed itself well enough to gete nough player counts to seem worth investing any time into yet.

if the warner brokers dlc policy (like selling specials which makes versus p2w) doesn't killt hat game then once it's out I'd probably wind up going nearly another 4 years without even thinking about this game again. I played left 4 dead 1 & 2 for nearly 4 years back int he day, so, if back 4 blood is halfway decent and doesn't get killed by dlc like evolve did I'm probably gone. That kind of game can easily live off of a few thousand players for years, so if it reached the steamchart dbd numbers and held onto most of them it would last a fairly long time I assume. long enoughf or another asym with a good advertisement or brand name to come out that's not half-arsed

yeah I know about customs on pc lol I had to do it for VR for vorpx to get some games bearable through it. I set them in nvidia control panel as allowed resolutions and then justs elect them in the games typically. the console question was mostly a joke. it would probably crash the game or stickt he console on a black screen untila reboot if I found some usb toolt hatw ould change reso on games there anyway. I do have a message I pull google off of on ps5 though so i could sidebar a webpage, mostly for listening to vids while playing, but unfortunately it just shrinks the game and black bars the top/bottom. I did consider pulling out an old ultrawide monitor to see if I could use it's zooms to work around those on the display actually. just out of curiosity, since my 4k's resulting images are still much bigger actually.

If you read the patch notes, or better played killer, you would find out none of this occurred on the killer side.

yet it still occurred survivor side, which affected their decision making capability and their ability to react coupled especially with the janky movement restrictions that came alongside it. If you could learn to think outside of one perspective, you would understand that regardless of how it looked on most killers' screens how it appeared on survivors' screens still made it incredibly impacting and gave a lot of killers hits they would not have gotten with accurate depiction of killer positions on those survivors' screens. so keep being a smartass, it doesn't make you right. I obviously did read the notes, that's how I know they fixed the issue. To be so arrogant to ass ume that people don't skim the patchnotes for online games, especially ones as broken as this one is every other patch.

I mean if they quit then let him quit at the end of the day it's based around skill if you ain't got the skills to do this then you should do what you can to get better or play something else you shouldn't automatically catch up with someone just because you're bad or you need a break.

you could tun those returning 15 to 20 minute queues into half hour or even two hour queues if you don't let killers have fun too. I honestly am back to wanting to see it happen so I could and post I told you so on every thread complaining about hour to two hour queues rofl

I just think we should all come together as a community and just be good people.

The reason you can't though, is that there will be many that pretend to get you into a vulnerable position, and then blammo. And honestly, anybody falling for charms is responsible for it. I mean technically you could only take advantage of somebody when they let you, and they prove themselves less clever too which makes it tough to feel guilty. My stance is if it's okay in a court of law, or if you know a person that can get you out of trouble or just convince things to go unreported or get someone else blamed for it then it's okay. Morality is a social construct, I mean it doesn't occur naturally, it's stuff human beings made up in their imaginations to try and prevent us from descending into chaos. A few can fall through the cracks and society won't crumble though. That's my baseline these days.
