  • The snow theme is cool but everything else sucks. It needs a rework.

  • It’s off because the performance problems as Killer.

  • This challenge is terrible and needs to never return. There’s just too many Survivors that are purposefully trying to deny your challenge when they realize what’s happening. Every Survivor I see tries to pre-drop every pallet they can, avoid them as much as possible, and they will refuse to drop them even if I tell them they can. They’re not refusing to farm because their actions show that they know exactly what they’re doing. I’ve had Survivors who would rather die than stun me while they’re the last one left.

  • That challenge was so annoying and showed why the Emblem doesn’t need the hook actions condition.

The next challenge, which involves killing 10 Obsessions, is going to be even worse. It sounds easy, but Survivors will do everything in their power to prevent you from switching Obsessions after the first time. They will pre-drop every pallet they can, avoid them as much as possible, and when I try to tell them that they can stun me, they refuse to and would rather die. Last night I had a Nea who refused to stun me and just started tbagging (she was the last Survivor). Tonight I had a Meg who avoided pallets like the plague and refused to stun me. She only used windows and would rather go down than drop a single pallet after she and everyone else realized that I had Nemesis. I would consider them not wanting to farm, but their actions seemed way too deliberate (like you’re really going to ignore the free 1k BP and possible chance to get away when you’re the last Survivor left?) and that they knew they were screwing over my challenge. It makes me wonder if Nemesis got some shadow buff that makes it OP as hell and Survivors are terrified of it.

  • Crossplay is off for both sides because of how console performance affects playing as Killer and I just keep forgetting to turn it back on for Survivor. My queue times did not change very much.

  • Doctor. I even enjoyed him before the buff (it was 2017, so not his first buff that gave him the stun, but the rework). He was one of the reasons I upgraded from the free trial to the full game.

for killing 10 obsessions just use a strong killer with nemesis, even throw on a mori if you want, it will allow you to get 4 obsession kills within a single match. personally i just hate the fact there is hardly any wraith or hag challenges considering its their tome

Easier said than done when Survivors pre-drop pallets. It’s stupid that a Mori seems to be the only way to finish this quickly (kill them before they catch on). It sounds like such a simple challenge but factors like RNG and Survivor behavior make it a pain in the ass.

  • Nemesis (RE3) and the Rat King (TLOU2). Although we might have to shrink the Rat King a bit considering how wide it is.

  • I’ve been against this change since it was implemented in 2.6.0. The reason was to have your rank more accurately affect your skill, which is BS. All it does is be a huge pain in the ass and show how many chances the Killer is willing to give in order to get that Iridescent Emblem. Survivors can abuse it so easily.

Literally all you have to do is play the game to get it. If you don't play often dont expect free rewards

Sorry that most of us here have lives outside of DBD.

  • Yeah, you pretty much need to play somebody like Myers or Ghostface with a Mori or hope you get lucky with totem spawns.

Honestly these recent Tome challenges are kinda scaring me (3 Iri Devouts, kill 10 Obsessions, and this one). Are the devs starting to move to challenges that are grindier or are completely reliant on RNG in hopes that we’ll just buy Rift tiers?

  • Scratch Marks are busted right now. They just randomly stop appearing. I thought it was me, but nope, they’re bugged.

  • So the scream bubbles from Doc's power are hooks? Wow he must be the king of hooks then.

  • The hook bug is supposed to be fixed this week. For now just drop them and pick them back up. It's really annoying (especially because dropping Survivors is bugged and sometimes I have to mash the button to get it to work), but it's a fix.

What's the Plague bug? I haven't played as her in a bit.

  • That's all he's got in a chase. Without it, Doc is just an M1 Killer with good tracking (other people have listed counters in this thread). Finding Survivors is only part of the game. Killers also need an anti-loop tool, otherwise they are too reliant on Survivor mistakes to get downs.

  • Pray that the Survivor messes up, unless you're someone like Nurse or Spirit or you have Bamboozle.

  • @catnip18 said:

Sounds like you got outplayed because you tried to slug. I DC if there's one survivor up and im slugged, not going to bleed out for 4 minutes because the killer is bad. Play stupid games win stupid prizes

LMAO DC as a counter to a game mechanic that the devs support? Do you realize how crazy you sound at this point? People like you are why the DC penalties were implemented. It's very sad but not surprising at this point that people support weaponized disconnecting.

  • YES! Finally someone else sees how overpowered this perk is! If you use this, then you're objectively a ######### person. You need to start the trial in dying state and have your aura revealed at an unlimited range while running No Mither.

  • If you can deal with the nightmare that is learning him on console, then I’d say he’s pretty good (though not as good as PC).

  • A. The Extinction of Hope challenge. Not everyone wants to rely on RNG giving you a good spawn to finish this.

    B. The Obsessive challenge. 10 games is a lot, so Killers are just trying to finish this as fast as possible, especially because it’s so close to the beginning of the Tome (same thing with the Extinction of Hope challenge). Hopefully the devs don’t give us another badly designed challenge like this one.

    C. Killers are trying to use them before the changes.

  • I’d recommend bringing Dead Hard. You’ll likely get at least one near miss this way. 360s are harder to counter if you’re on console or a weak PC.

Do you have any perks to force someone into being the obsession?

Yeah, but I was hoping to do it somewhat normally. Since that’s too much of a pain in the ass, I’m just going to run Nemesis on my Killers for now. If the devs really had to keep a badly designed challenge like this, they could’ve at least put it in a corner where it wouldn’t be blocking access to the rest of the challenges.

EDIT: Two games with Nemesis and I can say ######### this challenge. Survivors catch on too quick and just start pre-dropping pallets and I have a feeling this is going be a trend. I really didn’t want to, but I guess I’m going to have to bring Moris to help speed up the process (I’m not going AFK and using Rancor though, that Wraith player must have a lot of patience).

  • I think Nemesis's power seems pretty cool. He could give us an actual Legendary skin in his second stage from the remake (one that's not just a skin). We'd have new sound effects and a completely different model. His power could still work as the second stage just makes him a quadruped. It'll probably be tough to make considering it would be DBD's first non-humanoid Killer, but it would be really cool to see.

Also, his humanoid form needs to yell "STARS!!!!!!!" at some point. Maybe it could be part of his Mori or his roar when he uses his power. Bonus points if the Survivor is a STARS member.

  • Are you getting a 4k? Iridescent Devout requires a 4k and at least nine hooks.

  • So I'm working on this challenge and it feels so bad to not see those claws appear around one of the Survivors. There goes my challenge lol. I've never wanted someone to bring DS so badly.

  • I think they did, but not too much. Just enough to see if playing as him wouldn't crash the game or cause any huge bugs. It feels like double turn rate add-ons are almost necessary.

  • So I played a game of Doctor on Hawkins today (my first after 4.2.0's release) and I think this map needs more work. Chasing and swinging didn't feel good at all. I could see some FPS drops when moving or kicking a gen, but they weren't that bad.

Survivors still seem to skip frames when moving quickly (ex. zig-zagging or trying to 360). This happened during the Doc game and PH game on Grim Pantry.

  • PH has no map pressure and low mobility, but Survivors want to nerf him because he’s good in chases? Are you guys trying to kill him?!

  • The Archive team really should come out and explain their challenge creation process. Do they just not understand the game very well? Are they testing out broken mechanics like grabs?

  • Self Care and healing normally take the same amount of time. With Botany, Desperate Measures, or Resilience, it's actually faster. Playing with Botany pretty much removes the healing nerf from 2.3.0. The problem with SC isn't the perk itself, it's the usage.

    Also teammates aren't reliable.

  • Leatherface. I bought the game a couple months after console launch and didn’t play that much until BBQ appeared in the Shrine for the first time. I bought the DLC after I barely missed it. The other chapters and skin packs followed.

  • I’m beginning to wonder if the turning add-ons are required for his Adept. That’s all I’ve tried to do with him and it’s a nightmare to play without them. I’ve been using Compound 33 and 21 mainly. The FPS drops, bad POV, and bugged power after getting stunned are doing a number on him. It’s a shame because I think Blight’s a really cool Killer and he looks to be pretty strong (at least from gameplay I’ve seen). Compound 21 is useless if Blight has so many problems that he’s a mess.

  • Tofu’s on PC though, not console where Blight’s an absolute nightmare to control. He’s just another Killer that’s great on PCs but hell on consoles. Of course if you put in enough time and are willing to deal with the frustration, then you can learn to play him. I think Blight players will be very rare on consoles because of this.

  • Blight's just another Killer that's great on PC but a nightmare on console. What good is Compound 21 when you can't even control your Rushes or see Survivors?

Also his Rush is bugged after getting stunned. The button prompt won't show up and it won't activate even while you have control. If you release the button, the Rush activates on its own when the prompt reappears, which can ruin your entire chase. The action bug existing makes this hurt you a lot.

  • The car sound is weird and doesn't fit at all.

  • This just reinforces my belief that the Archive team has a very little understanding of the game. They keep creating challenges that can easily be denied by the other side DCing, require you to use broken mechanics (ex. two gen grabs in one game with Discordance), or are unfun for whatever reason (requires you to play bad, needs the stars to align for you to complete it, etc). This Devout challenge can easily be denied by DCing, forcing yourself to go the next hook stage, or being hyper aggressive on gens.

  • I think Survivors might be trying to deny Killers the Devout challenge. Today, I’ve had three games back to back where the Survivors are hyper focused on gens and just trying to escape. My fourth game finally had Survivors that weren’t super sweat 9000s. Although that does seem counterintuitive to their own challenge, because if Killers don’t hook Survivors can’t get their Benevolent Emblems.

Also the kill 10 Obsession challenge seems like a really bad idea because it encourages tunneling (keep tunneling after your first Obsession is dead in hopes you’ll get DS’d and have a new Obsession) if you don’t have any Obsession perks.

  • Lol what? Are you trying to say Self Care is up there with perks like DS and Unbreakable? Either you’re crazy or desperate for attention. Sorry I’m not being full second chance super sweat meta Survivor #3807.

The only way this becomes an exploit is if the devs openly acknowledge that it's a bug that players need to stop taking advantage of.

It's still boggles my mind how such a bug was allowed to pass the testing phase. Having a bug effect everything you do as a killer is detrimental to playing any killer, and considering how few killer mains there are out there makes waiting lobbies for survivor that much worse.

Remember, this is the same company that let the basement bug (the one where you couldn’t control your Survivor if you got hooked in there, it was a free kill for the Killer) pass. It’s disappointing, but not surprising that all these other bugs are passing.

  • You’re right. Unfortunately, Survivors are obsessed with stabbing you in the back, even if it doesn’t accomplish that much.

Also, the “it’s only five seconds!” argument is BS because you still have to catch up to the Survivor (you’re already looking at 10-15 seconds here). They can get to a loop or have someone bodyblock for them. If this happens, then that 10-15 seconds can easily turn into something like 30-40 seconds. 40 seconds lost all because you played well. Survivors don’t care though, they want to play the exact same way against every Killer and get super sick plays for some insignificant montages.

  • I love how a new Killer finally gets released with strong add-ons and Survivors are begging for nerfs. Lol do you want every new Killer to have crappy high rarity add-ons? I won’t be surprised if they go after Blight’s base kit next so they can do the same exact thing against every Killer.

  • Honestly, this entire update looks to be a shitshow and the devs should just revert back to 4.2.0. From what I’m reading, there’s a bug where you randomly slow down while running and some people are having their Ruin not activate (it was either that or it deactivated immediately, can’t remember).

  • @AestheticCharms said:

Whenever I see people who have self care I either kill myself on hook,dc or just let them die. They deserve it honestly

Lol it’s just one perk. Sorry for not being another small/micro PP Survivor.

Actually I always run d's, because at rank one, all you get are tunneling spirits. I still play, but it isn't fair how people are taking advantage of this to tunnel. Same for all bugs. People should be banned for using them to gain an unfair advantage

How do you know people are taking advantage of this? They might have always played like that, and this bug is just making them stronger.

  • Drop the stun to four seconds and make it a true anti-tunnel perk.

  • Well, at least it’s just a text error and the in-game effects haven’t changed. Yes, it’s a really strong add-on, but it’s not OP. Too many Survivors freak out about having their aura revealed and don’t want to learn to loop even a little bit or try to act like Blight’s always running this add-on (like with BBQ).

  • @OBX said:

when I play survivor my character will at times go from running to some kind of half run. It’s very odd.

I had this issue for a long time as both sides (it was fixed in a recent patch, can't remember which though). All of a sudden I'd just lose speed. It was a really annoying bug and made chases much harder. If it came back, then just throw this whole patch away. Revert the game to 4.2.0.

Try to do Adept with "The Nurse".... In red ranks, in the lery's memorial institute against a full swf squad with comms! Then come back and tell us about infuriating!

I take it you’re talking about new Nurse, right? While old Nurse was infuriating, she had insane add-ons and a different Adept requirement (kill everyone) to make it slightly easier.

  • Yeah, the Emblem system and Adepts are a piece of crap. They made these changes to have a player's rank more accurately reflect a player's skill, yet they don't at all. All they did was just show how many chances Killers are willing to give Survivors (9+ hooks for Iri Devout lol). Plague was the first to deal with this BS. Even while the Emblem system was active, a 4k would still give you the Adept (I got Leatherface's Adept while getting a Ruthless Killer and Legion's even though one bled out). The Killer Adepts unfortunately became the victims of BHVR changing things for no reason (it was around the time Plague released), and now we have the unfun messes they are today.

I don't see why killer and survivor adept achievements need to be equally easy to get. I play both sides and I like the challenge of the killer adept achievements personally, but I think the game should have a mix of easy and hard achievements so that you feel like you have something to work towards no matter what your experience level is.

If we really must make them the same, though, I'd personally rather make the survivor adept achievement require a +2 too. I like when achievements feel like actual achievements, y'know?

Making Survivor require a double pip would not work at all. Achievements also need to be fun. Getting a double pip, especially at red ranks with a hard-to-learn Killer (where the requirements are 3 iri and one gold or all iris), is not fun at all. Escaping/4k is a better idea and actually makes these achievements obtainable without ripping your hair out. If you want to challenge yourself and do them at red ranks, then you can do that without forcing everyone else to do so. Some of us just want to get our achievement and be done with it and still have all our hair.

  • Nothing. It's just Survivors wanting to blame the Killer for everything so they don't have to get good. Blendettes in particular hate this perk because it means they can't just hide all game.
