5s is important because it takes about 1-2s to hit the floor and start running so you only have 3s to get away. It should stay a perk, it is not strictly an anti-tunnel perk but it serves that purpose that no other perks do.

Nerf her! Big time.

Except Overcharge is flat out trash, since Survivors can hit the skillcheck while running away, and any Survivor even halfway decent at this game won't miss the skillcheck 9 times out of 10.
Also keep in mind; PGTW is almost an 'anti camp' perk; the Killer has to move away from the hook to kick a generator, unless he just goes for whatever gen is closest..which would probably waste the perk anyways. And in this era of exit gates being powered in under 5 minutes, Killers need SOMETHING to slow down generators.
To say 'Killers stopping me from doing my objective is unfair' is silly. That's literally the Killer's weapon as he works towards his goal of killing you. And even Killing Survivors slow down the Survivor's objective.
You know how you counter PGTW? You run as far away from nearly-completed generators as possible. This way, if the Killer wants full use, he has to cross the entire map, which gives your team time to unhook and heal you. To expect PGTW to be nerfed simply because you want faster games is silly.
That sounds reasonable to me - if you are good enough at hard skillchecks then you are rewarded. Isn't that the premise of people defending PGTW? I'm not asking for killers to let survivor do the objective, but removing objective already done is a big issue for fast killers with BBQ. It is borderline OP on a Freddy, but on a Trapper it is meh.
Guess what happens if everyone is constantly running away from a gen when someone is being hooked? The objective doesn't get done - Killer most definitely wins.
"To expect PGTW to be nerfed simply because you want faster games is silly."
Well.
The same could be said about DS: "To expect DS to be nerfed simply because you want to tunnel freely or kill faster is silly."

Unlimited Distortion would be incredibly overpowered with Object of Obsession. Their pickrates would outclass BBQ pickrates by a lot, almost everyone would run this combo.
Make it so OoO can't be disabled with other perks.

No, invincibility means they have a hard reset button on the situation even if the killer plays well. Even if they play fairly. The invincibility you're talking about already exists with Borrowed Time, Adrenaline, etc etc. We don't need another form of it out there. It's painful, especially when you expect killers to suck on up to 4 of these. I played the other day in 8 games and EVERY SINGLE TEAM ran them. In most of those games, every single person ran them.
Now, if they cared about not getting tunneled on hook, they could have run perks like Breakdown and Off the Record specifically designed for this. They didn't. They all ran this one perk. It's not because they care about fairness or just getting tunneled- everyone knows it's stupid powerful. It's extremely selfish to imply this kind of thing is fair. Especially when survivors are running at the killer or bodyblocking hoping to get to use it. It is an offensive perk and inspires offensive behaviour in the group that is supposed to be running defense.
I'm just tired of getting into games where I see a team, some of them in the same clothes so I can't figure out who has just got off the hook and who does it, but then move into attack *whoops a dead hard!* but that's okay because I'm just going to hit them and *whoops a borrowed time!* and that's fine because I've hit them twice and now *whoops a decisive strike!* okay I'll just keep chasing and *whoops there goes two gens back to back* so it looks like I really need to catch this guy soon and *whoops a few pallet drops and another generator down!* but that's okay because I'm finally at him, hit him, drop him and boy oh boy does this feel good I'll just pick him up and *whoops a flashlight with odd bulb*.
You are overreacting and what you described makes me believe your issue is SWF rather than perks. Your situation is no different than 4 casual solos all being slugged by a slugging meta killer with powerful meta perks and ultra rare addons.
It happens on both sides.
-
You have to make no mistakes with nurse to win. Every other killer allows you to make mistakes. She was unfairly nerfed too much. She needs all add-ons buffed, especially the ultra rares because they are actually not useable. I main nurse and the ultra rares will actually cause you to lose...

As a Killer main I tell you, even though its your opinion on perks, dance with me + lithe + QnQ is just that damn good it wastes the killer a lot of time if no scratchmarks are visible or no LOS, iron grasp is bad, prove thyself helps for doing the objective not a big boost but it helps, fixated is great but the only thing that sucks about it is that if you are injured it doesn't give you a boost, remember me is meh, sometimes work sometimes doesn't on certain maps, thana needs a buff because the only killer that can use it's full potential is legion, distortion is good but needs a buff as well.
We killer mains just want balanced stuff, not be stressed every single match.

It doesnt necessarily have to make them useless. Just maybe less useful. Whats the ds stun time? 5 seconds? Maybe enduring reduces it down to 3 instead 🤷♂️
At only 3 secs, what if no pallet is nearby? How can you gain enough distance from spirit?
-
Asking for a perk that already has an excellent use of reducing pallet stuns AND buff it to also render several survivor perks useless is an unfair request.
-
The problem is this. The meta is required to stand a chance against the meta. When you have a high mobile killer running godly perks that show auras every few seconds, 2nd chance are not 2nd chance, they are required to have even a slight chance.
The meta will never change until more good perks are released.

@Sluzzy I use BBQ for bloodpoints only, if I want tracking most other tracking perks are much much better. On the survivor side, BBQ is really easy to counter too. We could maybe give distortion a way to get tokens back, but being unlimited is not balanced at all.
DS is even easier to counter, a lot of times it never gets used and it doesn't give any extra bloodpoints. If BBQ is unlimited uses, distortion should be too.
-
Of course not. Only entitled killer mains thinks it needs a nerf or change. They are equivalent to an entitled survivor main that thinks NOED needs a nerf.

Because there are conditions applied to those perks.
Distortion counters ANY aura reading perk and even removes your scratch marks for a duration when it activates -- that is very powerful, not even for the ability in itself to hide the aura but the fact you basically know that the killer has that perk and can play around that accordingly (which is something I think a lot of people actually undervalue a lot).
Its condition however is that it has three charges to it, because it counters any and all aura reading for those three charges. With your suggested change, it would counter any and all aura reading perks unconditionally, thus making it (incredibly) overpowered.
I bet you could buff distortion to unlimited and BBQ would still beat distortion for pick rates. BBQ is godly.

How can you possibly claim that BBQ is currently overpowered and yet somehow suggest to buff Distortion so it has unlimited uses, which would make it able to counter every single killer aura reading perk and add-on in the entire game with literally no input or effort on the survivor's part and think that is somehow "perfectly fair"?
At this point I think I'm simply being baited.
Because BBQ, infectious freight, nurses calling, and all other aura perks have unlimited use. Why does whispers work throughout the entire match and still work for the last survivor trying to open the gate and get out? There is no reason for distortion to be limited and then be dead for the majority for the match.

Because people want blood points.
I see We're Gonna Live Forever ran a lot -- and that perk literally doesn't do anything. Does that mean WGLF is powerful -- or just that people want blood points?
There's plenty of better tracking perks than BBQ. Infectious Fright, Whisperers; just to name a couple.
Here are the 8 counter to BBQ:
- Be within 40 meters of the person being hooked
- Hide inside a locker
- Hide behind a generator
- Let the killer see where you are, and move away after 4 seconds
- Run one direction as the survivor is being hooked for four seconds, then move in a different direction
- The "Distortion" perk
- The "Sole Survivor" perk
- "Off the Record" perk
These are all valid ways to either hinder BBQ's aura reading or prevent it entirely. So forgive me if I do not believe a perk which has EIGHT ways to impact its usability to actually track is considered "strong", let alone the fact it strongly encourages the killer to leave the hook and to target different people, rather than tunnel and camp.
I love bloodpoints but I hardly use We're Gonna Live Forever. Why is We're Gonna Live Forever not also tied to gen repairs? That's the actual objective for survivor.
All of your counters are mostly invalid because they are not consistent. Distortion is only 3 times so it would be deactivated in no time, it needs buffed to be unlimited and then I will consider it a solid counter. Sole Survivor means you have to be the last survivor alive to have maximum effect. "Let the killer see where you are, and move away after 4 seconds" doesn't work most of the time because freddy, hillbilly, oni, spirit can get to where you are before you can even hide. Huntress can throw a HUGE hatchet and hit you above your head. Many maps it is difficult to find a locker nearby and hiding behind a generator doesn't work anymore. I think buffing distortion to unlimited would be perfectly fair and it might actually force killers to swap BBQ out for another perk.
-

BBQ is not a strong perk. It literally has eight hard and soft counters to it. Survivors already have plenty of tools available to them to render BBQ moot. With or without perks.
PGTW removes 20 seconds (maximum) off of a generator after successfully hooking a survivor. That's not equivalent to getting a free health state for failing a chase.
If it wasn't strong, I wouldn't see it 99.999999% of the time. As killer, I would never not use it either, it is that powerful! Lockers are not always nearby and if survivors are always hiding or running across the map to jump in lockers to avoid BBQ, then the objective will never get completed, or is that actually what you want, to never get completed?

So if someone save them with BT an they have DS it's a free escape an killer played bad. Some iQ you got there. An most good killer perks reward killer for doing what they do an survivor perks reward bad plays or help them get out of situations. One rewards being good while the other fixes errors that survivor made. An if NOED is activated an he camps again that's end game what do you want the killer to do? Oh wait your profile pic is a laurie no wonder you defend DS so hard. If the killer tunnels DS SHOULD be activated but if no an that DS user is free to do whatever then why have it still activated for that whole minute?
If all 5 gens got started, the gates are opened, yea I would say you played bad, I wouldn't blame it on a perk.
How is it the survivor's mistake when you are the one that picked them up or chased the same person?

Then why not have the perk deactivate once the killer hooks someone else, chase someone else for a period of time or if that person is fully healed because by then they are not being tunnel an we won't have survivors making "risky" in your killer face plays an get free escape. Not to mention (this part is situational) end game where the gates are at 99 or open an they get a safe its literally a free escape for the DS user. Just add restrictions to it or something. No one can deny the over use it is seeing and annoyance it has like object of obsession which is a different topic but still.
It is not strictly an anti-tunnel perk. It is a free escape if the killer allows it and if it is an endgame escape then he played bad anyway and doesn't deserve the kill if the survivor had the perk equipped. Secondly, since killers that hate DS love restrictions to perks, why not add restrictions to other strong perks such as BBQ or PGTW? If the killer does X or Y, then BBQ is disabled for the rest of the match. If killer camps a survivor for x number of seconds, then NOED will never activate??
-
You are right about that, POP is exactly like old DS. If DS was redesigned on that principle, it is fair POP be looked into as well.
I think when you say "dictate" you mean SWF. Remember the solos are playing too, they are definitely not dictating anything. They are trying to do a singular gen and the progress keeps vanishing because of a perk.
-
No perk should remove the opponents objective progress for simply doing your own objective. A good killer will always and I mean always down survivors quickly.
PGTW needs to be redesigned into something like overcharge, if you miss a very difficult skillcheck then the progress is removed. I don't like the perk at all, I feel like it carries killers that are high mobility and that means it was not well thought out.
-
At the end of the day they are a business so I have no problem with the store. They need a way for continuous revenue to keep the game alive.
-
You can always suicide on hook. Problem solved.

Without Enduring, though, the devs said it was long enough, which makes me wonder why they decided to keep it at 5 seconds.
PS: DS does not punish tunneling, it punishes picking up the same survivor inside 60 seconds. Doesn't matter if the survivor is fully healed, doesn't matter if the killer downed someone else, doesn't even matter if the killer hooked multiple people. That's not an anti-tunneling perk, that's just a "don't pick me up again for 60 seconds or get stunned" perk. Anyway, this thread isn't about DS, so let's move on.
I still disagree. I hardly use head-on because 3 secs feels like nothing. If they reduced the timer, tunneling would be easy to do.
-
@Orion said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1333684#Comment_1333684
It stayed because the devs want survivors to go down within a certain amount of time. Same reason Decisive Strike was buffed to a 5-second stun because Enduring used to affect it, but even after Enduring ceased to affect it it remained as a 5-second stun.
I can see the analogy. As for decisive, anything less than 5 secs wouldn't be punishment for tunneling. I remember the 3 sec DS, a killer purposely tunneled with enduring because they could literally hit you as soon as you landed back on the floor.
-
Didn't bloodlust come out when infinites truly existed and for that very reason? I think it is time that feature is removed because it rewards bad killers and punishes good survivors.
-
And pallets? Wow, the number of times I totally dropped the pallet in time, the killer has the stun animation, yet it is still a hit. Ridiculous.
-
If you don't self-care, you are giving the killer free NOED
-
I think Huntress needs several changes to make her fair: 1) Most importantly Directional Lullaby 2) The axe hitbox needs to be a narrow cylinder and not a sphere 3) nerf the number of hatchets from 5 to 4 4) Rework Iri-head 5) Rework exhaustion addons (only clown deserves such a thing) 6) More cooldown between hatchet throws 7) Move considerably slower when hatchet is cocked 8) more cooldown after a hatchet throw to prevent insta-down in some situations

I mean, BBQ is a good perk on Freddy. I just use brutal strength, pop, bbq and save the best for last. With nancy's master piece and the jump rope. But you're complaining about a killer being able to use a lot of pressure in the game. If you can't deal with Freddy as a solo player then start playing with friends. I went against a good SWF once as Freddy and two escaped because they were confident in their skills enough to not worry about healing early on in the game. You can't expect easy wins against all the killers
That's a FAT No. No killer under any circumstance should require 4man SWF to having a chance at winning. Freddy fits this criteria and needs his teleports greatly nerfed because certain perks makes him OVERPOWERED!

Then no killer needs buffs.
-
They need to look at stats. If said killer is already over 50% killrate then buffs will cause killer to be overpowered.

As much as killers sit on 3 gens like a hen on her 3 eggs, keys should be something that spawns on every map.

Lol use distortion or lockers to hide your aura, or Cheryls incoming perk to block him from teleporting or using Pop.
Distortion has only 3 charges, BBQ is unlimited. Lockers are sometimes miles away. That unfair counterplay options. It's time BBQ loses the aura reading. It's too much information for simply doing the objective.

When you decide to queue up for a match, you are agreeing to the terms of it, which is any combination of the mechanics that are available to players. There are sometimes going to be mechanics in play that you don't like. This is part of the game that you have decided you want to play. You know this going in. If you decide you don't want to play it, then close the client and don't play, instead of queuing up and then leaving everyone else in a 3v1.
The match that prompted me to make this thread was entirely benign, too. Legion caught a guy immediately, someone else got downed trying to save him, and they both suicided at the same time. It's so dumb.
It is also a mechanic for attempting to unhook yourself. Have you agreed to it?
-
@Rydog said:
I don't understand why Behaviour doesn't punish hook suicides the same as disconnects. It makes no sense and legitimizes griefing, because it amounts to nothing more than a penalty-free DC.
Just had a game where two players -- red rank players! -- suicided on-hook inside of the first two minutes. Then, somehow, I'm the one who gets de-pipped for it. It's unbelievable how maliciously negligent Behaviour is with certain aspects of this game, and this is most certainly one of them.
A company shouldn't punish for someone refusing to play in an unfun unfair and unwinnable match.

By that logic, DS and unbreakable are OP because the majority of survivors use them.
Save the Best for Last is OP because every Demogoron uses it.
Play with your food is OP because every Bubba uses it.
Thanatophobia is OP because every Plague and Legion uses it.
Nurse's Calling is OP because every Ghostface uses it.
20 seconds is a bit, but it is far from OP. That is the basically the equivalent of 2 missed skillchecks. If you ever lost because the killer had 'pop' it was because the killer was getting a lot of hooks. If the killer is getting a lot of hooks, it is because the killer is doing well, or that your team is not doing well.
I would bet BBQ and PGTW is used on Freddy substantially more than the other perks on those killers. By your logic of justifying PGTW, it would be the equivalent of the struggle timer being longer if gens are being done quickly. Just because one objective is done well shouldn't enable the objective being removed on the other side.

He is far from uncounterable, BBQ is one of the easiest perks in the game to counter (lockers are everywhere my friend) and Pop takes 25% off a gen, and since the standard gen for a solo person is 80 seconds, that is 20 seconds of progress. Even less so if there are more people there to help you. So you are getting this incredibly upset over 20 seconds.
People who say Freddy is overpowered often are just bad at loops, so instead of learning to get better or try and counter a killer they dislike they instead give up, pull out an excuse to explain why they lost.
Removing 20 seconds is a lot of time in DBD. If it wasn't OP, why does every Freddy use them?

You said he wasn't overpowered but then said he has so much in his kit and all Freddy's use certain perks. I'll say it for you:. He is overpowered.
Teleporting across the map to remove objective progress is grossly unfair on top of it.
As much as I hate to say it, he either needs reworked again to be "fair" or BBQ and PGTW both needs nerfed. No more aura reading to be exact.
-
He suffers the same issue as Huntress, there's insufficient counterplay in 1v1. Very minimal terror radius so stealth is not even an option. Your only thing to do is run and not stop or you die. He reminds me of old legion.
-
I'd rather see huntress and freddy get a little nerf over spirit. Spirit was already nerfed and these two have been untouched.
