I would be happy with at least 1 and 3, BP don't really make an event on itself, it's a plus not a must.

I agree. I dont really have anything I want/need to spend bloodpoints on. I just like it for bringing people back to the game and it seems to make everyone happy so =D

  • I hope they act fast to fix this but I dont see how they can salvage it...

I just cant fathom how they did this after the backlash from last year. Its honestly mind boggling!

  • How can you be hopeful at this stage? Every year the event gets worse and worse. Last years started off horribly and after the uproar of the community they had to implement a lot of changes to appease their angry community.

Did they learn from this? Did they grow from this? No. They made this event even worse and did exactly what had angered the players in the first place, all over again!

    Edit: Typos

I agree, Halloween should be the pinnacle event of the year and imo should start earlier in October and have more compelling content to buy and earn. It should be the most exciting time to play yet it is a terrible event so far. The Overwatch Halloween event is more polished and exciting and tons of free content to unlock. Even the once a year anniversary event was lackluster.

Even WoW does events so much better than this... Its shameful that a "horror" game messes up its biggest season so badly...

  • Agree. I dont want bloodpoints. I wanted a fun event to mix things up. Would it have been so hard to reskin the 4th anniversary/bbq events? Heck, even just repeat last Halloweens one (after they fixed it).

How could any dev with a brain not see this being a cluster-duck after last years backlash? And that wasnt even as horribly bleak as this one!

  • Be merged and moved to feedback with you! We cant have the players dislike of the non-event seen and talked about!

I've completed all of them so far, but the grind IS real. Some of the challenges also encourage you to play very selfish to complete them or require you to have very good luck with killer/survivor. I noticed that in this rift, they are bringing back the challenge from the very first rift which was to save someone from the hook once EGC starts. Granted, it's saving one survivor only, but remember, this is ONLY level 1 of the current tome. By level 4, that number would increase like all the other challenges...

BHVR does need to re-evaluate the rift system. Put more rewards in the free track, rework some of these very grinding challenges, increase the XP you get per match, reward more rift fragments, etc. I get why they hesitate since you can earn your auric cells back, but who cares? If people can complete it and earn it back, they can spend it on something else or the next rift, which guarantees people coming back to play your game!

I dont understand how you have to buy the pass to grind it? Surely buying it should make the grind less intense? Swap the Auric Cells for Shards and make the frags required 50% less when purchased and it wouldnt be half as hellish imho

I understand, but is that all? Like, it seems you're only telling me one side of the story or holding back the truth!

Are you really serious about what you're telling me? Is DBD really not worth the time? I'm saying this because I know the community can often exaggerate the decisions developers make and make them seem more worse than they actually are! ๐Ÿ˜…

If you havent played since March? I assume you were here for Deathslinger, Zarina and Dead Dog Saloon?

After that was Silent Hill and what is objectively one of the worst maps in the game for both sides.

Then The Blight which didnt even have its own map...

They've done a few graphical updates, made most older maps terrible with pointless breakable walls, adjusted a few minor numbers, but overall? It really isnt worth it. I'm not being overly critical or judgemental. I used ot be a huge fan of this game. Loved playing on new maps/loops and having fun with new killers. But theyre not even adding new maps really anymore. They slap fresh paint on old ones and give "new killers" which are just older killers with a modified playstyle. The originality seems to have drained from the game... If you are looking for something fun may I suggest Civ 5? Or phasmophobia...

  • You know they only spawn while you have the pustula challenge active, right? Which means they'll be gone after a handful of games...

  • I posted these but it got moved into feedback... Hopefully yours lasts longer than mine did!

Happy to help the community! FOMO is real and I hate it...

  • I'm confused by the green circle. Can you do it without claiming the ones before it?

  • Go into the in game store. At the top right theres a button that says "Redeem Code". Click that and enter!

  • "sweetdreams" and "eternalblight" are two codes I know of that work. Act fast coz we dont know how long they will last...

  • Dont bother. The game has gotten very stale as of late and this non-event is the icing on the cake

    guys, * it's a ######### charm*

    that's it

what's the deal of making some people earn some exclusive charms through streamers?? geez, It's not a cosmetic or a character, it's a little symbol to put on your waist. yeah they're cool but saying that "fog whisperers already have auric cells, why do they have an exclusive charm as well" is like ???? really???

Is this better than just giving them to all players? no. But is it that outragious? In my opinion no.

Not being able to earn the cosmetics like the years before is the thing that sucks to me.

You seem to be missing out on some of the key points and behaviour (punny, isnt it?) that this will encourage.

These Fog Whisperer codes are limited time only - which means you'll have A LOT of players disconnecting from matches to try and enter the codes before they're gone.

Add to this that you'll have a lot of people, on machines now struggling to play the updated graphics, trying to play Twitch streams ontop of their games, reducing their performance and effecting the other players. No to mention having two games overlapping in the background - how do you even play like that?

This doesnt even take into account people with OCD that feel compelled to unlock/buy everything in a game for completionist sake.

The Fog Whisperers comment merely highlights BHVRs hypocrisy - nobody is against Fog Whisperers in general.

This was just poorly thought and poorly executed. End of.

  • @Seanzu said:

So when I'm playing the game to earn everything else I have to hope a code drops while I'm not in a match so I can use it... If I'm in a match do I DC so I can use the code... or do I just not play dbd and watch streams all day with the redeem box open?

I don't think limiting charms like this is a very good idea.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/HZNY09Z90TER/chrome-21-10-1603294136.png

The hypocrisy of unlocking most cosmetics because you don't want to do "exclusive cosmetics " and then doing this is laughable. Same with the fog whisperer charm - they already are getting paid in auric cells- do they need exclusive cosmetics?

  • @StarLost said:

You know why these stats look like this?

I'll bet dollars to donuts it's because games where survivors and killers DC are being included. During the rift, while the DC penality was disabled, this was sort of commonplace. Hell, I would DC to dodge Haddonfield and Ormond on occasion.

They frequently say that games with DCs arent counted towards stats. I find it hard to believe that they would just 180 that here.

If the stats for games with "gens completed" and "kills" is anyway accurate I can only hope these stats are VERY different to games where no rift is open.

And IF the stats given ARE very different to those for when the Rift is closed then its obvious that the Archives have been very detrimental to the health of the game.

  • or just have the unhooked person lose collision? stops them bodyblocking and stops killers bodyblocking them...

They actually didn't. I even asked after like 10 seconds of silence: "No comments?"

And I assume they just left.

Did you give them a gg before asking? Assuming they weren't toxic or anything...

  • I honestly don't get it. Killer is easier now than its ever been. People complaining "its always killers getting nerfed" are just new and have no idea what this game used to be like

  • I like it for BP too. You really do notice it!

  • So you want to add another killer to the game that can't be looped and auto hooks survivors? Why even play killer if you want the game to do your job for you? How could you possibly be struggling so badly that you'd need this??

  • @FatFuzzball79 said:

What if they're was a game mode where there were more killers, more survivors, different types of tasks (other then just generators) and maps twice or even three times the size of the original maps depending on how many people playing. and killers could be given specific perks based on how well they pair together and maybe even survivors like Tap could have a single shot gun that could kill or gravely wound specific killers.

    -Thoughts?

Never gonna happen. Its been brought up multiple times but they dont have the resources and dont want to split the playerbase.

Their current balance team is two people and balancing the two versions would just be too much.

I like that you brought some uniqueness to the idea though - most just ask for 2killers v 8 survivors which would just be a murder fest.

  • @RocketPenguin said:

Yup 100% agree it needed to gain a token from healing others a healthstate.

I also agree that doing a gen should give a token but if we have to keep the theme of altruism then just healing is good but id add the gens or totem for tokens too since then it wont be dependant on how good the killer is

I really liked the Ace challenge in this Tome and hoped that the change would be more in line with that: Unhooks, cleansing totems and gen repair.

  • @Claudette_Baguette said:

They don't try to change meta. If they tried to change meta they would have to adress meta perks like DS, sprint burst, DH, BT, Adrenaline, Unbreakable, etc.

Making some bad perks less bad or "okay" doesn't help the meta getting changed.

tbf they cant really change DS, DH, BT, UB too much. Theyre band aid fixes to bad game mechanics.

Any game I've seen where there are no obsessions are just tunnel and camp fests. And even with an obsession there are still too many tunneling and camping matches.

If they buffed other perks to make survivors contemplate replacing the meta - killers would be up in arms about how survivor sided it was.

  • I think its just people grinding out the last of the rift challenges during the final week. Challenges like "kill your obsession 10 times" or "Escape as X survivor with Y perk" have peeps just rushing their objectives.

Usually people wouldnt mind not 100%ing a tome as long as they had the rift ffinished but with the nerf to rift fragments its not that easy anymore...

  • You would have collected them from live - the PTB is save data from ~1 to 3 weeks prior.

    • it goes live
    • "guys relax, they'll patch it soon"
    • it doesn't get patched
    • "the negativity here is so toxic, the devs don't deserve this"
    • "can we get a positivity thread here? the devs do a great job!"

This is the cycle I've seen a thousand times over from different game companies, it's fascinating to see the different iterations.

While I do agree that does seem to be the trend at times, my main point was to give reasoned feedback. A large portion of the posts are giving out that descriptions are now accurate??

  • Pretty sure this is just the message for uncollected Auric Cells from the rift.

X may be unbalanced because of the "fun" aspect of the game ignoring the outcome. but the anger is from the fact that the dev's focus on nerfing the result instead of fixing the cause.

They are focusing on Pyramids cancel cooldown because that is what most of the REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

is about instead of fixing his clunky movement and his slow and overly telegraphed power to make it useful outside of boosted rank 20s and animation locks.

It doesn't matter if i can spend 5 minutes "spamming" it at a low wall loop until the survivor finally stuffs up and runs into it.

They are nerfing pop for ....???? i don't know why

They are buffing wglf because it does need ways to get stacks but 100% heal speed on downed survivors?!?! again nerfing the result and not the cause. survivors hate slugging but killers must slug to win against good survivors.

Thana! terrible exchange nerfing it just because of the "fun" aspect. Time spent healing is extra time on gens. removing that and replacing it with essentially nothing is terrible. It should essentially force survivors to heal or suffer a decent slowdown

I've defo seen way more "reeee" for Deathslinger than PH.

Pop is more of a halfway between OG and the "overtune(?)" so cant be too mad. Plus, 45secs is still plenty of time.

Thana I'm actually optimistic for - more time spent off gens and healing seems like a win to me! Esp if survivors start self caring in the corner lol

As for WGLF... I dont really think it needs an extra benefit like BBQ - I think survivors would have accepted it just having more ways to get stacks (totems/gens/picking up survivors from ground etc)...

Were supposed to wait for the changes to go live before complaining? Do you realize how silly of a statement that is?

Voicing opinions on changes is fine. Screaming because the text of a perk now says what it does is just childish and unhelpful.

The majority of the comments I've seen are people who dont understand how perks work complaining that they now say what they do...

  • @lucid4444 said:

    • Slippery Meat no longer affects Bear Trap escapes, and now increases hook escape attempt probabilities by 2%/3%/4%

    LMAO

    RIP Deliverance... /s

  • It can happen in any game regardless or perks. I had a survivor and killer working together- the killer repeatedly downed the survivor so they'd see my aura and could lead the killer to me. Report and move on.

  • @KingFrost said:

Say for example you are slugged and pick yourself up with unbreakable. This leaves you with... let's call it "Enraged" (I can't think of a good name for it, honestly) for the rest of the trial. If you're enraged, you can't use DS. Effectively DS and Unbreakable would be 'Enraged" perks. So if you use DS, you then can't use unbreakable to pick yourself up. Or if you use unbreakable, you then can't use DS when picked up the next time.

This would limit the synergy between the two perks without absolutely destroying all synergy.

Might not really fix all the problems, but just an idea I'm throwing out there.

The only way this wouldnt break the game entirely is if the DS timer stopped while slugged/chased.

The terror radius tells you if the killer is nearby.

Spine Chill tells you if you should be worried that the killer is nearby.

Also, people would absolutely use it for the speed bonus. The informational aspects of the perk aside, its role in Vault Build alone makes it insane.

yeah and if you know the killer is nearby you're going to be looking at him.

vault build is typically Spine Chill and resilience. I've never seen someone use Spine Chill on its own for the action boost. its either for knowing when a stealth killer is coming for you or paired with resilience for faster vaults.

not really used for faster heals, gen repairs, etc

if you want to take away the stealth detection it would require a pretty substantial boost to action speeds to compensate...

  • Then what would be the point of Spine Chill? Every other killer has a terror radius so the perk would just be pointless then? Nobody would use it for the speed boost. Unless you buffed the boost to work in the TR and not just when the killer was looking?

For the record, I am stating that this is NOT going after anyone here or is here to start any form of witch hunt. I just want to point out the hypocrisy behind a perk change, while another has the same issue of being 60 seconds and doing something else

so by your logic Make Your Choice should also be brought down to 45 seconds? Okay, let's do it!

  • it is but is difficult. the first survivor hit basically needs to start mending immediately after being hit

  • if its getting these changes it'd only be fair to pause it while slugged also

  • @UMCorian said:

Yeah - the spirit of DS being an "Anti-Tunneling Perk" is long since gone.

Between DS and BT, "Anti-Tunneling Perks" have literally become: "Perks that make my job after being unhooked for the next 20-60 seconds be to run in your way, body block you and prevent you from chasing anyone else... because you can't do jack to me."

I like perks like DS, DH, UB, SB and BT all on their own... because I think it's fun that survivors have counterplay. The synergies between SOME of them, however, get too strong. And it also means that if you want Counterplay to the Killer, you basically have to take, what, almost 90 perks and reduce them down to about 6. Such a waste.

I mean if the injured/unhooked survivor runs for me and gets in my face I just wait out the BT and down him. Eat the DS too if you want to. If you hit him while he has BT its like hitting the fully healed unhooker. Brief speed boost and the can be downed in one hit. If he's doing dumb stuff like that which ultimately makes it easier to get him out of the game - why complain? It saves having to look for another player? Or better yet - let him waist his time while youre on the unhooker - then thats two survivors not doing gens?

I never understand people complaining about survivors playing dumb when they are wasting their time doing nothing but following you. Its the same when I get a FL player following me around. Makes the games so much easier.

  • Had a game where with a 4k with 5 gens.

"I had to tunnel off the hook first hook mori because i was genrushed"

  • Now if they could undo the bright sparking that can be seen from a mile away. Whats the point of technician when you can just see the bright sparks from any distance?

  • High risk, high reward.

Tbh I sometimes find it easier to protect the totems in the open than those hidden behind/around items. I've had so many teams throw themselves at open totems and down them all on top of it

  • @TheStabbiNAngeL said:

Survivor's aren't just skins and most of the sweat teams as this community says know this,it's an entire different chase with a Feng Min vs chasing a Dwight

Can you elaborate on that? Because they are literally just skins. Unless youre referring to grunt noises?

  • I've always felt everything except for items should be hidden.

Items can be very powerful and it makes sense for observant killers to be able to plan around them.

I always thought that survivors should just appear as defaults with items in hand - not showing name/page/cosmetics.

I've had so many killers dodge lobbies when they see survivors in paid cosmetics/legacy or tunnel/mori a name they recognize.

  • @Yords said:

I am not sure if this has been discussed before, but I have noticed that survivors can change their character in a lobby and a killer can't, at least not anymore. Why is this a thing? A whole SWF squad could have a loadout ready with like Object of obsession or powerful items and switch to it last second when all killers can do is watch. This may not be huge, but I thought that this was worth sharing.

Yes this has been discussed (search function is your friend).

Survivors are just skins. They can swap to any character with OoO and you wouldnt know. It changes nothing.

It was disabled for killers for MMR (your specific killers will have specific MMRs). MMR was temporarily disabled. It will be reenabled at a later date. It wouldnt make much sense to patch it out only to have to repatch it in again soon. Currently, it can be reenabled on the back end - meaning no patch is required to turn it back on.

  • is this killer vs survivor? Or console vs pc? >.<

Just a discussion, no need to get all worked up, was curious if it was ever discussed and sounds like it was. Lot of sensitive opinions I understand and was just trying to gauge if really skilled survivor mains might welcome the challenge, that's all.

They didnt seem worked up to me - their points seemed logical. As is, the player repairing the gen can look around with the camera while doing the repair skill checks. Why cant the character do the same?

I'm all for balance but this is taking a sledgehammer to the scales. It would make spine chill meta and make other perks, like premonition, useless.

Ahhhh. Since console cannot use keyboards and such, would that be..... ummmm...... an advantage thingy?

You can get macro controllers - infact, most cheaper controllers tend to have them as standard (Though I've always hated them on my old controllers)

They make doing small repetitive things easier - like struggle and wiggle. That about all you could use them for in this game.

Other games you could preprogramme move rotations, etc
