Same issue. I've tweeted at the devs and have had a few people respond with unity, so hopefully they'll notice what's up.

That's maybe a valid point when it has been quite some time since the original price and its corresponding discount. But these outfits were out on the store for less then a day before they were slashed by almost 60%. Steam for example offers refunds to consumers who fall victim to that kind of BS.

Depends. If these are old skins that are being discounted after some time, I would agree. If these are new skins that are being discounted out of nowhere almost immediately after releasing them, I would say that it is unreasonable to make that assumption and not very fair to the people who bought in during a specific window.
All I can say is: Caveat emptor

That is true and that is way better alternative, I like it. If all hooks were Halloween themed could also remove the inability to sabotage them. I get why they made it so survivors can't sabotage them but it's pretty lame when killers can damage/camp the gens.
Yeah it destroys entire playstyles by preventing players from sabo'ing event hooks. If all hooks are event hooks it wont matter if some get sabo'd. Heck, you could even make the basement hook an event hook in that case and it wont matter.
This is just another example of BHVR having zero forethought.
-
They bought something for an agreed upon price.
Did those people expect the price to never change or go on sale?
Honestly I feel its what those people deserve for still supporting BHVR with this obvious cash grab.

Should make event gens/hooks atleast give you 3k BP so you can earn back the offering, have it stack for each additional offering played.
Even then I dont know if that would be enough... So many killers camp event gens in spite. All hooks and gens should be event ones and by bringing the offering you get more for it.

all is discounted, well unless it's the meltface skin but hey i don't blame them
Dude - the sale was always planned: "Between October 23 and November 1st 11AM EST, save up to 75% on a selection of outfits, including the Hallowed Blight and Hallowed Catalyst Collections! "

And the offerings cost more than they give. They havent came close to making up for this. I hope they feel it where it truly hurts them - their wallet.

Still doesnt make up for this disaster. I mean, the Pustula Petal offerings dont even give more bloodpoints than they cost. Theyre pointless...

I feel the opposite way. Killer just feels like going throguh the motions and having fun doing it.
Survivor? Getting rank 16-20 teammates vs red rank killers ruins the experience; it makes it unplayable and frustrating. A bunch of maps have deadzones; some killers remove your agency as a player and you can't really mindgame them. Matchmaking is the game's own worst enemy lol.
This. Matchmaking and bad teammates are the real killer. I play killer to relax after stressful survivor games

I spent a lot of today watching different Fog Whisperers trying to get a Dwightcrow code and finally got one! Here are my tips for getting one for yourself:
- Work your way down the Fog Whisper list to find a smaller streamer that has less competition. I know you might love Otz, but his chat is massive and the odds aren't in your favor. Link: https://deadbydaylight.com/en/news/fog-whisperers-program-2020
- Actually watch the streamer long enough to learn their methods for giving out codes. They usually only give out a couple per hour. Streamers that give out a portion of the code and give people time to type before giving the last few digits are the most fair if you're not a speed typist or are on console.
- Have your game shop open and ready to redeem the second the streamer gives out the code. Time is of the essence. Console players and PC players without duel monitors should probably be watching the stream on their phone or laptop for multitasking purposes.
- The odds will get better as the event goes on. If you think you're at a disadvantage, you might wanna check streams at odd times when less people are watching or wait until next week when the hype has died down a bit. Everyone that's dedicated enough should get the charm eventually it just sucks that the beginning of the event is so bottle-necked because everyone is rushing for it.
I did exactly this with one BIG difference - do NOT watch twitch on mobile! There is a auto delay which will put anybody watching from mobile at a significant disadvantage.
Either watching on a laptop or dual monitor would be your best bet.
-
More killers will get nerfed to oblivion before release (Freddy 2.0 anybody?).
While they SHOULD listen to their playerbase, and clearly arent anymore, they should not listen to the vocal playerbase regarding balancing matters.
-
Its pretty much the best exhaustion perk at the moment. BL was nerfed into the ground, Lithe is a wee bit too situational and Dead Hard is buggy as hell since the change to dedicated servers.
-
@Tsulan said:
So... how does it count the kills?
Do disconnects count? Hook suicides probably do.
What about the rank of the survivors? Since the matchmaking loves to toss green or lower rank survivors into a pit with red rank killers.
"None of the stats include matches with DCs. That said, a DC is basically a kill anyway and results in the remaining survivors likely dying fast also.
As for suicides and first hook deaths: the stats dont differentiate suicides/first hook deaths/face camped to death or final survivor dying on first hook."
-
It has the Blight in it so defo not a leftover from the previous event

Well if they hoped people would stop playing their game during the biggest event of the year for them - they succeeded!
Unfortunately I dont know if its added to fog whisperer views for them =/

Maybe they would get the constructive and not so much criticism that they need.
Which is exaclty why they wont listen. EXACT same thing happened last year! And even that wasnt as bad - you could earn ONE event cosmetic. Community was in uproar and they had to go back and fix it. What did they do this year? Did they learn? Nope! They double downed and took all earn-able event cosmetics away!
-
Which is exactly why we wont be given one. They dont want to hear from us unless its to stroke their shriveling ego...

@TheWarNung said:
68% kill rate seems pretty reasonable, but I don't think kill rates are the best stat to be using to judge the game's balance. I'd rather the devs showed statistics on how many gens the survivors manage to complete.
As a killer main, I consider survivors to have "won" as a team if they finish all 5 gens and open an exit gate, even if I still get a 3k or 4k.
I think you're literally the only person to view games like that. A 3 or 4k is a win no matter how many gens are done. If I 4k with 5gens remaining I completely stomped. If I 4k with gates open its close but still very much a win for me.
-
@Crowman said:
Honestly it shouldn't be that surprising red rank killers are 3King most games. The pip system itself makes it so killers have to 3K to stay in red ranks as even a 2K can mean a depip on some killers.
Also piping on survivors is very inconsistant. You can run a killer for 5gens and de-pip or die and still pip.
Ranking system does need a lot of work.

so, were there any stats on how many of those games had a DC, or suicide on first hook?

My question is why do this again? And are they gonna do it again next year as well until people stop complaining? They did this last year or the year before and people complained and they had to change it. So why make the same “mistake”?
This is what I want to know! All I can think is they are deliberately trying to push us to our breaking point and then "make up for it" with a half-assed offering so we'll be happy with the barest minimum we get. They want to know how far they can push us and we'll still support them. I dont know if theres anything they can do to win me back at this stage...
-
Just to note - this was taken from the Dev stream. Kill rates are on the top and pick rates are on the bottom. The displayed stats are for red ranks only. This question was asked by @Cabbage
-
If anything this year has been a blessing for them! People forced to stay at home could only have boosted their numbers and sales.
How do they reward the community that has been struggling this year, during an event which is supposed to embody the spirit of the game? By screwing the community and expecting people struggling financially to give their money to participate in an "event". Its appalling.

I feel bad to the art team of this game they out did them selvs with the map update and again with the event costumes. Just to only have the event ruin it for them so this is just a statement to the art team if we were are upset at this update / event its not at you just how the event ruined the opportunity to cherish the amazing cosmetics
I do feel bad for them too. I can see sales plummeting from this debacle and I hope they don't take it as a reflection of their work.
Though one critique I would have is that the Star Seeker Kate concept does not reflect the execution

I'm still fairly new to DBD so this is my first Halloween event, but based on what BHVR has done in years past made me eager to play the upcoming Halloween event. But now that we're here, nothing about this resembles an event in any way shape or form.
The bloodpoint offerings are a joke, you can't earn any cosmetics by playing the game, hell there aren't even Halloween decorations in the maps. Why would they call this an event? I've seen other players call this a battle pass, and I couldn't agree more.
Im rather shocked that they made the petals cost more than they're worth. nothing about this "event" makes sense to me and it would have been so easy to make it a good one...
-
I imagine it'll be locked - hence why its separate to the rest of the challenges.

Here are my suggestion to make this event really feel like one:
-Make 6 cosmetic pieces earnable like previous years
-Change the "Pustula Petals" offering to the halloween versions of bloody party streamers, which would be 100% extra bloodpoints per offering for everyone
-This offering will obviously only be useable throughout the event
-Every hook and generator becomes a event hook/generator,that way you can sabotage every hook again
Simply solution to make everyone in this community happy again in my opinion.
I honestly dont know if even that would be enough to save B€HVR$ reputation at this point and draw back the dozens of players who have just given up (at least for Halloween if not for good)...
-
Called toxic for looping... Sorry I didnt stop to get downed immediately!

Just bring 2018 back.
At this stage I'd be happy with that!
I was hoping for something different. Heck, even if they just did a skin change! Make gens human sacrifices! So survivors were trying to "kill" the "sacrifices" and killers were trying to "save" the "sacrifices" from the mean survivors! Would have spiced things up a tad by just changing some assets! Fail a "gen" skill check? Its now a failed heal noise!
Literally ANYTHING would be better than the barren wasteland which is DbD Halloween 2020...

A message to survivors:
I know your objective is to do gens and exit the map, but this is a timed event. We can all get more points if you let killers hook you twice before you do a gen. You don’t need to do 5 gens in 6-7 mins before you decide you would like to participate in the event just to show how good you are.
/s
I've gone to event hooks and pointed at them if I feel a killer hasnt gotten many in a game. I am usually facecamped for it though I'm still optimistic I'll be allowed to be rehooked on another event hook at some stage =/

To immediately get into new chases. At higher ranks picking up, carrying, and hooking every survivor that is downed simply wastes too much time with the current gen speeds. Seconds count in this game, and quickly downing a second survivor before another is on their feet can be the difference between keeping up the pressure or getting creamed.
I've never had issues in red ranks hooking people. I dont have to camp, tunnel or slug (at least not unless situationally necessary) and can still 4k more often than not. That said I run Pop/DL a lot so am generally encouraged to hook but I can understand how incredibly frustrating it can be to be left to bleed out...

They’re only left to bleed out if I return and can’t find them again, which puts some accountability on the survivor if they want to be hooked, rather than left on the ground indefinitely.
What kind of a choice is that though? Get hooked and die, or crawl towards a teammate to possibly get up and play the game?
I guess I just dont understand why you're leaving them down in the first place, unless youre immediately in another chase etc.
-
Thanks for answering.
tbh I understand the DC's. Being slugged and left to bleed out cant be that fun for anyone.
I understand that there are times that it is strategically beneficial and especially if you dedicate perks to it I dont see an issue with it. But in general, I dislike it as a tactic. Plus its robbing both sides of a lot of points (hooks and unhook. BBQ and WGLF).
-
Sounds about right. Apparently saboing event hooks is toxic and to prevent that they stopped event hooks from being sabo'd in previous years.
Doesnt matter that it effects general gameplay...

" The anniversary event" when we talking about Halloween, OUT OF TOPIC MAN.
and btw the anniversary thing was cosmetics, and its no where near difficult to get them as survivors,
halloween add-ons HAS EFFECTS, med-kit ones give you movement speed in case you forgot.
"PHs zoning was an issue" there's a lot of things that the survivor has has issue too, OoO was from 2016 Halloween, 4 years now,
which is why I said it's pro-survivor. If they're not, OoO should be changed a decade ago.
"Pop wasn't a nerf" excuse me what?
Keep defending for BHVR, sure.
"OoO was from 2016 Halloween, 4 years now" OUT OF TOPIC MAN.
See how that works?
I'm not "defending BHVR" - in fact, I'm pretty critical of most of their choices. But objectively you have to admit that they've done A LOT to balance the game and shorten the gap between survivors and killers since the game first released. Is the balancing perfect? Hell no - they have a lot of work left to do. But to blindly yell they're biased to this or that, ignoring everything that doesnt support your side, is just ignorant of the facts.
-
As for the event "bias": The anniversary event required killers to enter a match, grab a crown and done. Survivors had to get a crown, glow for the rest of the match, and escape. Where was your "bias" claims then?
As for "meta perks": PHs zoning was an issue. I have no comments on the changes so far as I Want to get a few more games with him before judging but its not THAT bad.
Pop "nerf" wasnt really a nerf. It went halfway between the OG Pop and the modified one. I see no changes and cant imagine a scenario where a killer NEEDS those 15 seconds.
Cant really change meta survivor perks as they are bandaid fixes to bad game mechanics... Though I will give you OoO...
-
You kinda lost me here... How did them having OoO prevent you from kicking gens for your tome?
And tbf - you kinda said it yourself: "without any gen defence or powerful addons"... Were the survivors supposed to handicap themselves when they telepathically determined that you didnt bring meta perks and addons?
-

My suggestion:
-Every non-dlc character gets a new cosmetic: A Halloween Costume. Maybe a witch outfit, a vampire outfit... whatever.
-On every map, there will be a number of pumpkins. Survivors and killers must bust the pumpkins to earn pumpkin points. There'll be 10 pumpkins on every map, but you can only get two pumpkin points per match.
-Each costume costs a total of 10 pumpkin points.
-Once the event is over, unearned costumes can be bought for Auric cells.
-A Haunted Mansion Map to be added to the game either as part of what will be Chapter 21 or just a standalone map.
I love all of this and am now just picturing a sexy witch Kate and vampire Dwight! <3

That's kinda how I feel with your idea of giving an event skin for playing. I like the idea but it would be a lot of work without significant payout.
True but theres a lot of low effort skins they could do which I think the community would be happy with! Even just occultist type robes (obvs not black due to balance but maybe red? Or even blighted!) for all survivors and killers and you can pick two for free (and pay for the rest) and boom! Community and BHVR profit!
Or make "costumes" out of the original killers for the OG survivors and vice versa!

Maybe we could see pustula growing on trees and In other places.(make it look obviously different so people dont get confused with the intractable ones.) This would be a nice touch considering the plants should be everywhere because the entity is in its blighted state or whatever its called.
I would love this! I'm just worried about how much resources it would take to do... Gens, hooks, lockers and trash cans seem to be easily changeable (at least from past events it seems to be) but I would LOVE to see Pustulas growing EVERYWHERE!
