Well, you´re entitled to your opinion. Against a Totem Killer I at least can do bones. Against a DS+UB/SG user I have literally no option other than leaving them be if I don´t want to throw the game.
-
As much as I liked the Creeper and the movies back then, I hope this never comes. I encourage you to do some research on the director/license holder of this franchise, you will quickly learn why this idea is despised despit having been brought up on more than one occasion.
Another jumping Killer? Sure, I´d be fine with that.

Yeah, that's a big thing so I made a bit of an edit to specify that SWF would either be limited or completely disabled in a casual gamemode. That's probably way too harsh, but SWF is a really tough thing to balance, so I have no idea. If that happens, it get's rid of the people who want to play casually but with friends.
Yeah that´s a tough one for sure....
-
I´d be all for it! Everyone that plays DBD a lot knows the feeling...you wanna have some chill matches only to be faced by the most tryhard opposition imaginable (nothing wrong with that per se) or you´re all hyped up to do some serious slashing only to down a whole team in 2 minutes because they´re more casual.
Splitting to 2 qeues with certain adjustments would be really great. I´m worried that the notorious bullying BM SWF squads would hijack the casual qeue to have even easier prey, though.

I had a similar bonding experience with a Santa Clown last Christmas shortly after the Dwelf cosmetic came out.
OMG this is so awesome :D

They´re just salty, something many people are a bit too guilty of unfortunately. I hope the self-unhooking/struggling mechanics will be looked at in the future since as of now they are too abusable. It screws over Killers and fellow Survivors alike, it´s just dumb.
-
Well, here´s my 2 cents. First, it´s an online video game. There will always be trolls and people that love to BM. As sad as that might be, this is something you have to be able to endure if you want to engage in this kind of activity.
Secondly, If this starts to take a serious toll on your mental health then I´m sorry but you might need to take a break of give it up for good. No game is worth sacrificing your peace of mind for it.
Unfortunately it´s a well known fact that there´s a significant amount of players that take great pleasure in humiliating and BMing their fellow DBD players. In my experience this is especially true for people that qeue as SWF, using every advantage they can to bully less experienced players and make them feel like #########. If you´re a good Survivor player, show some decency please. Same for Killers of course but this is not what this post is about.
-
Ghostface bc Billy is stupid af- easy prey for Danny.
Huntress. This one´s easy.
Freddy
-
I´m sorry you experience this. It´s BM, just like teabagging, nodding and excessive clicking. I hope you can find a way to cope with this. Personally, I unironically kinda like when this happens to me - it´s one of the few things that look genuinely hillarious to me in DBD.

I used to think for the longest time that the locker DS was an issue, but I have since changed my mind. If other deactivation conditions are introduced, then the locker thing should actually stay. Stress on the fact that it should stay only if there are other deactivation conditions.
If DS is to be emphasized on the anti-tunnel aspect, then the survivor should have an option to present an insta tunneler between the choice of eating the DS or leaving, instead of ending up being a slug or being chased until the timer runs out. The other deactivation conditions will make it so the locker play isn't abusable, because if the survivor does anything productive, then they lose their DS.
Working on a gen should obviously deactivate DS. Being healead or self-healing should too, but only if the heal is completed, to avoid situations where the killer instantly comes back or where a heal was simply tapped and it instantly deactivates DS. Sure, that means they can 99 the heal, but it also means the killer knows ds is likely still in play. Starting healing someone else. Cleansing a totem, but only if the cleanse is completed (to give a chance to inner strength users). Starting a sabo. Unhooking someone but not uncaging since cAgEs aRen'T hOoKS and HooK pERks dOn'T WOrk. Successful pallet or flashlight rescues. These should all deactivate DS. Mending shouldn't. There are also a bunch of killer specific interactions that should be looked at individually, such as snapping out of it or disarming traps.
DS shouldn't be tied to the chase interaction, or we would have the analogous of old moonwalking Legioni all over again.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1670926#Comment_1670926
It's not like tunneling gets disabled when the gens are completed, does it? There would be no logic in disabling the counter to that either.
Saying you get outplayed by a perk would be like saying they get outplayed by your basekit if you insta down them off the hook and their DS is gone because of the gens.
The fact that they can escape at that point is simply a consequence that there's no other objective for them. Tough luck, but you can't win them all. What it could be done is to add deactivation conditions so their ds can't make someone else as well escape in that situation.
You missed my point. If the timer never stopped while slugged there is literally nothing a Killer could do in that scenario. Just watch them crawl out for 2 minutes, seems really dumb to me. As of now it can be countered by slugging, which seems fair. As Killer there should be some options in an endgame situation.

I don’t even bother with add ons a lot of the time (I haven’t been using add ons recently because I’m using Clown to farm points for other characters, so I don’t want to burn through my Clown stock).
My current build is Bamboozle, STBFL, Blood Echo, Mindbreaker (those 2 are because I’m not using Solvent Jug). I can’t wait for the new Mindbreaker to go live.
Interesting, I use Myers and Oni to farm points in that way (don´t think they need addons anyway).
With Clown it depends, usually brown, if the Survivors seem strong or I just want a relaxing game, I take out the good stuff.
Haven´t quite seen a build like yours, looks pretty unique! Maybe I´ll try it out soon.
My go-to Clown build is BBQ, Brutal, Surge, STBFL with BBQ just for the points basically.

He definitely mostly has the right idea of WHERE to put gas at loops: where the survivor needs to run to reach a pallet or vault.
Clown is so much better than most give credit. And he definitely doesn’t need gen slow down. All Clown needs to understand to slaughter (most) survivors is how THEY need to run each loop optimally, and then Clown knows exactly where to put gas to ensure the survivor can’t possibly escape a hit before vaulting or dropping a pallet.
I agree. Clown is part of my core roster and he definately is underrated. In fact, he becomes really strong with good addons (pinky finger not included). To be played on a higher level he requires a good understanding of pathing and how the Survivor will behave on top of all the little tricks one can pull off with the bottles. Seems to be an unpopular opinion we share.
-
Brutal Strength - Enduring - Bamboozle - STBFL - Fire Up/Spirit Fury - Is it a bird? A plane? It´s the M1 Superhero!
-
Look, if there weren´t that many anti slugging mechanics, slugging would be pretty unfun. When I slug I don´t expect them to lie there for a minute or even longer. It´s fine as is, but it has the same synergy issues as UB has with DS. I´m pretty sure it will get addressed somewhere down the road.
-
There have been so many. I like to give compliments to sick Survivor players as long as they don´t come with "ez" or I should kill myself etc. Often times after good matches I like to chat with them for a bit. I´ve helped people out with tips etc and I was helped greatly (sometimes either pittied or respected for my choice of Killer).
A match I´ll propably remember for a long time was against 4 Dwelfes on Ormond around christmas time. This was back when it was possible to switch Killers in lobby, so seeing them I switched to Santa Clown (srsly I have too many Clown skins...).
Needless to say it was one of the funniest matches ever. I don´t even remember the Kill ratio, but post game they asked why I had come after them, they didn´t want to be my slaves in the Christmas factory anymore etc :D
Few moments stick out for me, I just really enjoy the company of DBD players that aren´t so salty, bitter and aggressive. It´s nice to see that these increase :)
-
I think for the most part DBD is in a good spot and they did a pretty goob job so far (unironically). Of course there are the known balance issues, but overall it´s a highly enjoyable game. I wouldn´t play it so much if it wasn´t.
Given its 4v1 setting it´s a pain to balance anyway. I don´t think it will reach the level of balance that CS has, for example, but I´m fine so long as it´s balanced reasonably well.

As a killer main, Decisive's Otz fix is decent but you're very correct on healing and totems. If they GENUINELY sit there and cleanse a totem, then heal teammates, then self care, they are not being tunneled at all. DS needs to be a shorter time, but stop during chase, like what if it had 20/25/30 seconds duration, but would last forever while slugged or chased. Undying just needs to lose aura reading, otherwise, perk's balanced, it's an entire perk slot to make sure one stays up for a little longer. At last, Noed, this perk, sucks. Noed is honestly garbage on any normal build besides a Blood Warden Endgame Build. Noed is supposed to be a signal of "Hey, you should leave now" rather than "Go on a scooby doo scene to find the totem then probably die anyway so then you complain in post game". Blood Warden should deactivate if a survivor is suffering the Exposed status effect 15 seconds into it's activation. Noed is honestly trash and only gets you 1 kill, which is still a loss tbh. Otherwise, the patch is good, but I really don't agree with the DS and Noed fix at all, the Undying one is not good either.
Disagree on this one. My personal issue with DS is that if a Survivor gets unhooked after the gens got done they are guaranteed to escape if they still have it up and the Killer has no super-mobility. Slugging can help there, but if they could use DS no matter what...darn, guess I got outplayed by a perk alone. I really hope that if and when DS gets balanced they bear this scenario in mind.

Oh yea definitely aware. Just saying that fixing it needs to be made a priority since the DC epidemic is getting worse... or at least some alternate solution that isn't as exploitable by hackers.
But what would that be? If a punishment for DCing in any way was implemented we would be back on square one. Before any action can be taken, some form of protection against hackers needs to be added to DBD.
-
I agree that the widespread DC epidemic needs to be addressed. I may have missed it in your rather long post, but are you aware why it was disabled?
It´s because the sick amount of hackers. Many people were forced by them to DC, even some content creators on stream, resulting in extended ban periods. To prevent this, it was disabled for the time being.
Until the DEVs figure out how to protect their game from hackers, DC penalty won´t come back. I wouldn´t hold my breath if I were you, as sad and embarassing as that is.
-
I agree we need this kind of map(s). There are sooo many possible designs. To be fair I like the lil Carnival at the Chapel but at the same time it feels like a wasted oppurtunity.
Theme - wise it could look similar to the Carnival in L4D2, of course appropriately adjusted for DBD. Jack-in-a-Box jumpscares similar to those in Midwich. If the Art design team was to ever make such maps, I´m sure they´d surpass my wildest expectations, these guys are just great.
-
SWF using Object of Obsession. Nothing else Survivors could do surpasses this in the anti-fun category.
-
I almost always leave a gg - be it win or lose. In my opinion it´s common decency and rather polite. I appreciate it way more than the usual insults and the demands that I should kill myself.

As the Dr. round these parts I prescribe OP and players who agree with his point to: git gud and pressure gens.
It’s the only way.
Vent on the forums if you need. We all like attention. Step away if you’re on a losing streak and taking it out on your family or pets. But playing Nurse and Spirit are hardly the only ways to win. Tournaments be smited.
You forgot your customized prescription note:
Don´t dish out too many though as people might develop increasing reistances against this drug.
-
It really depends what works for you. My main Killers are almost all bottom/meme tier (Myers, Clown, Trapper....) yet most matches are 3ks or 4ks simply because I´m rather experienced with them. The matches where I´m crushed to the floor by insane Survivors are few and far between. "Git gud" always sounds awful, but maybe check whether there are areas you can still improve on. Might be chase, gen management, or even your builds.
Also bear in mind that there are Survivor mains with 4k+ hours in Survivor only, people that play tournaments on the highest level. Given DBDs design they are next to impossible to catch with an "M1" Killer which of course is a shame, but this should influence your expectations.
What you say about maps holds true though. Ormond with a 4 man is basically a guaranteed loss unless the Survivors really suck.

Trapper and Clown would be a great fit. Jeff could be the Undertaker.
I´d rather have Trapper be Undertaker or Kane, Clown would make for a good Big Show or Vader ;-)
Jeff is kinda too beardy and skinny fat to be the Dead Man imo.
-
I´ve been wanting a WWE skin series for the longest time. Doubt it will ever come, but it would be so awesome.
-
Coal Tower is the best Map imo :)
-
@Woodywool I appreciate your attempt to address the DC epidemic. This just seems not to be the way imo. As soon as the DEVs have figured out a way to protect their game from excessive cheating and hacking the DC penalty will be back I reckon.
If and when that happens I´d like to see something done about hook suicides too.
-
If people DC against certain Killers, it´s a THEM problem, not a problem with the Killer. I personally woulld propably not be afected by your suggestion since I don´t play Nurse, Slinger, PH and very rarely Spirit or Freddy, but for those who do the wait times would become attrocious.
This kinda comes off as a low-key bullying enabler to get ez to beat Killers most of the time.
-
Agreed, Pop is often times not exactly efficient. As Killer you will NEVER get the net gain of 20 seconds since walking to the gen, then kicking it and moving onward from there all cost time, too. If you want to use it there are scenarios where you´d have to abandon pressure to get use out of it.
I think people sleep on Surge a little, it has replaced pop on some of my Killers (those that fall hard into the "M1" category) since it provides information and saves you the time to walk to and then kick the gen. A shame it has such a CD though, totally unjustified imo.
-
The current form of Spine Chill is nowhere near oppressive. What is does though is further hinder some of the already pretty weak Killers, especially Ghostface and Myers.
They have no way of avoiding the perk since they are forced to look at Survivors to use their power. This takes away their only saving grace, the element of suprise, since they have barely anything to help them in chase.
While there is counterplay, in my opinion, it is riddicolous. I can barely compose myself from laughing when I see a Myers crab-walk somewhere across the map in hopes to avoid SC.
Some people claim that as soon as the icon lights up, the SC user will become a headless chicken and aimlessly sprint right into the Killers arms. I disagree. My most played Killer to this day is propably Myers but I haven´t seen this happen once, and on Survivor side, I have never encountered a Killer that was able to get the jump on me when I had SC. As a new player SC can mislead you, when you´re more experienced, this will very rarely happen apart from very specific locations like Disturbed Ward center building.
On the flipside, SC tends to be used by lazy players (like me) that crutch on it so it´s sometimes pretty easy to abuse this. Overall I think it does what it does a bit too good, and either a range reduction or some form of perk limitation would be justified given it´s strength vs ease of use.

When this combo first hit live everyone was panicking. It’s OP, it’s unfair, it has to be nerfed.
I admit that first week it was really good. The totems lasted all game and survivors were getting shredded
The past week though I’m really seeing how well survivors have adapted. For me Undying goes first 90% of the time which is astounding if it isn’t intentional, but also both perks are fairly quickly removed from the game for me now. In week 1 the Ruin would last all game but now it’s only a couple of minutes before I’m 2 perk slots down.
In addition its just not the best combo for every killer. Someone like Hillbilly might be able to make great use but on a less mobile killer and especially on larger maps you just can’t control every single generator enough for Ruin to do some work. Its also hard to determine how much regression Ruin is doing. Sometimes you’ll have gens completely regress, sometimes there’s always a survivor to back it up anytime you pressure one off it.
I don’t think it’s the be all and end all combo that people first thought it was. Not even with Tinkerer. Personally I’m already starting to ditch it on a number of killers.
I agree. The only Killer I felt I could put it to good use was on Oni since I´ve only played maybe 10 billy matches in 2020. Gonna switch to a more reliable build too, the good players have adapted, greatly reducing the value of this inconsistend combo.
-
Billy, Danny, Huntress, Traffic Cone, Blight would be my guess given your rules.
I see how GF vs Slingor may be controversial, but given he´s an extremely successful Serial Killer I´m convinced he would outsmart and ambush Caleb any day of the week.
Huntress vs X is pretty much a no-brainer with very few exceptions, like Oni.
-
For the Original Killers it could work nicely. They could progress through their realms with Billy ending at the Thompson House, for example. Not sure what "game mode" would make sense though....But a neat idea nonetheless.
-
I agree with everyone here. You are the guys I do not need to remind of common decency, but this legion...well, these players are part of the problem and why dbd is notorious for having a ######### playerbase.
-
That´s a nice approach tbh. On the other hand, if I´m not mistaken, with your suggestion the Obsession would have 100% uptime while in chase? That would be miserable since it would remove any mindgame potential for the Killer unless some form of Undetectable was used.
-

Quentin would like to have a word with the visual design team.
Alright you got me there xD but overall, they are doing a pretty good job so far, so to say.

@ToxicMyers said:
uh the heck? Why are you so upset over a walk change and a knife change?
To be fair the walking animation that OP is referring to looks stupid as #########. I´d like to know whether the person responsible for that is okay, too. Especially considering how great they usually are at visual design and all that.
-
The most depressing to me is seeing the Ormond offering only to see one or several Survivor Auras right after loading in. It´s at this moment I realise it´s gonna be miserable.
-
Oh, he definately should be added. He´s the only huge Icon that DBD needs but hasn´t gotten yet. This is most likely due to an ongoing lawsuit over the license, so don´t expect him to make an appearance anytime soon.
-
For Surivor it´s pretty easy. In a premade, Object of Obsession makes almost everything else obsolete if used well. For solo, not so much and there´s actually some variety.
I personally run Kindred most of the time, so in a solo setting I consider it "meta". Then you have the allaround strong perks: SB, DH, SC, UB, SG, DS, BT. With the rise of totem builds, Small Game, Detectives Hunch and Inner Strength got more value.
For Killer it´s too hard to generalise. There are perks that work well on every Killer but many of them differ quite a lot in regards of "meta", this can sometimes even be map dependant.
-
They do, and I´m growing increasingly worried that hackers might be a problem the DEVs are not capable of handling.
-
Great post my dude, I like your thinking :P there are so many possibilities to exploit clown tropes further, I like the character in DBD but sometimes it kinda feels like a wasted oppurtunity. In fact, there is so much they could do it might as well be his own game. Clown by Daylight, anyone?
-
I can confirm it´s gotten rougher overall at these times. Due to shifts etc I mostly play between dusk and dawn. You don´t encounter many casuals then.
It´s more fun against the really strong teams though unless they are literally tournament level and wipe the floor with me or if they bring Object, which is pretty common unfortunately. It made me quit Trapper for the time being, my current roster works well enough against these since I basically always assume it´s an OoO ez mode bully team.
Despite being a veteran, sometimes it´s good to revisit the basics and maybe add a thing or two to your arsenal of little tricks. Works for me at least. And let´s not forget that it´s not likely to perform at peak level every time you play, so don´t go too hard on yourself after a bad day.

Thankyou for your advice! I wasnt sure if whispers would be good on trapper or not because I tend not to track people for too long with him (instead I control my 3 gens and keep switching around the traps until they mess up) but I didnt think about using it to set safe traps when noone is looking. I'll try it out!
I like playing trapper to learn the game with because instead of relying on the wraith's cloak gimmick for easy kills I have to predict how the game will play out and where the survivors will move. I feel like I'm learning faster by playing him even if its easier to get wins on wraith.
Also you mentioned thana is getting changed?
Yes, they are going to remove the healing slowdown of Thana and the current PTB suggests the gen slowdown will be increased by 1% to compensate. I forgot to mention in my previous post that you definately should check out otzdarva either on twitch or on youtube, he has very in-depth guides on Killers, addons and everything around DBD basically, including which characters to get when. He´s also a well renowned Trapper main!
-
Trapper isn´t exactly a beginner-friendly Killer. Nonetheless I love him too and mained him for quite some time.
So now regarding your builds: With the tools at your disposal these seem pretty solid. The good gen slowdown perks will become increasingly more important the higher your rank will become, so bear that in mind when you can unlock your first DLCs via shards (get plague).
If you have whispers tier 3, replace iron grasp with that. Agitation is superior to iron grasp in basically every way and the added benefits from IG are pretty minor. It takes a while to get accustomed to it but if you have it down Whispers is one of the very best tracking tools. If it´s off you also know that placing a trap is safe right now and it won´t be disarmed instantly (unless they use Object of Obsession, a perk you will learn to despise).
Since it´s basically your only slowdown right now thana is fine especially if paired with sloppy. It will get changed soon and lose most of it´s value though.
Addons: Always bring a bag, it´s insanely crippling for Trapper to not run at least the brown one. After that it´s up to you, setting speed addons are neat and tar bottle is great imo.
Wish you good fortune with Trapper, he´s one of the hardest Killers to play successfully!
-
I couldn´t get mad at that, it looks way too funny, sorry^^
-
In my opinion losing his only power is sufficient. He then suffers a hefty cooldown and has nothing to help him in chase so the information given by the revealing survivor can often times be meaningless.
On the other hand you make some good points.... so maybe reduce/reset the stalk meter of the Survivor that managed to reveal him? Idk I find it hard to figure out what would be fair in that case since GF isn´t exactly a great Killer to begin with.
