What I am describing is the way survivors currently play efficiently. If you leave the chase with the survivor who is literally just running away in a straight line to buy time for other survivors... What happens if you swap targets? Oh yeah, they do the same thing as the guy you were just chasing, and the guy you were just chasing goes back to repairing the gens. Most survivors in this game don't even heal anymore, just because there is no need to before all the gens pop.
Thats also just assuming the map is just a straight line and that EVERY single place they are allows them to do so

What's to stop me from facecamping the hook with STBFL and just downing them again as soon as they get off of hook?
It sounds to me like this change will result in survivors getting off the hook far faster than before, which also means I can down them and put them back on the hook quicker.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3432021#Comment_3432021
Trying to tunnel one person out and then taking on the other three is my preferred strategy, but it really only works if survivors are super altruistic and constantly, immediately go for unhooks. Now, it will work no matter what.
If this change goes live, the only way they can mitigate that is to give survivors basekit endurance over multiple hits for 30 seconds (which will conversely give me infinite STBFL stacks) or something else similarly completely broken and abusable.
On the other hand, maybe it won't be so boring for the survivor. Even if they're out of the game quicker, at least they get to unhook themselves and try to escape from the killer, and it could be a success in that sense.
How will it work no matter what?? If anything it nerfs this playstyle since the other Survivors can now sit on gens while youre busy at the hook.
-
What you described is assuming the killer is mindlessly following the first Survivor until they get downed which will only work against your average pub Survivors (which tbf is like over 95% of games)
To actually gain pressure you need to play the 4v1, not hope that you can end the 1v1 fast enough to manage a 3v1 afterwards. You wanna slowly widdle Survivors of their resources so that towards the end they are left with practically nothing. Not only is this a more effective way of playing, but its also WAY more fun for both sides since you are constantly jumping from Survivor to Survivor.
This new mechanic to counter facecamping is just that. Optimal ways of playing will not be affected whatsoever since there are things in place to prevent Survivors from abusing it. Overall this is a great change

Buff Doctor
Rework Freddy
Nerf Blight (his add ons mostly)
Remove Hag (honestly I wouldnt remove any killer, but yknow its apart of the post)
-
Yeah heres the thing with OW comp matches. They are on average MUCH longer than a DbD match
Pretty sure OW also has a bigger playerbase without even having crossplay. If that takes 30 minutes to find a game I cant even imagine how long DbD would take
-
I usually just say womp womp followed by a booboo wawa
-
Should be the opposite question
Im not saying having a streak of bad games doesnt happen, but youre more likely going to remember a single bad game over 10 regular games

Most of the time it would be pointless. Killer would just wait at the base of the hook and down you again.
Basekit BT kicks in even on self unhooks

Actually wait, its not holding CTRL. Thats for sending out a drone
To recall a drone you have to have your radar out with M2, then hover over a drone and press space
EDIT: Now Im confused with what buttons do what lmao. Got me all mixed up

Sounds interesting! What kinda perks/addons do you normally use on her?
I use Adaptive Lighting and Ultra Sonic Trap Speaker for add ons. As for perks I havent found anything that is set in stone just yet, but the ones that have worked the best for me so far Is BBQ, Corrupt, Sloppy and STBFL.
A drone formation I like to use is what I like to call a "trail". When I see theres 2 people working on a gen or after I hook a Survivor I leave a trail of drones as I leave the gen/hook. After waiting a bit Ill walk back using the trail and it usually catches them by surprise since Im Undetectable.
There are plenty other formations out there that Ive been experimenting with, but that one seems the most consistent and fun to use :)
-
Do you have a clip by any chance?
-
time to become tiktok famous
-
That one is great but it doesnt beat my personal favorite: "Buckle up, fuckos! Lets roll."
Makes me wish Survivors had voicelines to show their personalities a bit more
-
You have to be holding CTRL and then press spacebar while looking at the drone you want to recall
-
Just to deincentivize it they could delay the hatch spawning by like 30 seconds
-
Even without those add ons and perks she can be really fun!
I try more of a hit and run approach with her and using her drones with all kinds of formations that fit the current situation.

It isn’t my preferred tactic, but the killer player is allowed to play however they see fit.
Oh I know, doesnt mean it should be encouraged or it should stay. The only reason to bleed 4 Survivors out (with VERY few exceptions) is to BM and to make them sit there for the entire duration of the bleed out.

Playing to win isn’t holding the game hostage. I hope BHVR never listens to people like you.
Hooking all 4 Survivors is also winning, slugging them on the ground to bleedout aint necessary. Dont act like you dont know this

ohh never knew about that, thanks a lot for explaining. sounds fun, rip
Yeaaa
It actually had a bit of synergy with Sadako believe it or not as shes the only killer whos COMPLETELY silent when Undetectable. Now you might be thinking, "what about her Lullaby?" That only plays when shes Demanifested!

what was the bug, did he not make loud ah thump sounds?
No, the bug actually had to do with Insidious
Insidious would activate whenever you were Undetectable by any other means. Meaning if you were Undetectable from Serotonin Injector and you had 1 second left of Undetectable from it, Insidious would keep that Undetectable (if you stood still before it ran out) even if you didnt stand still for 2 seconds.
It was REALLY gimmicky, but it was so much fun. To watch TTV's be hesitant to turn a corner because the last time they did there was a giant just standing in the middle of the hallway was very enjoyable
-
Well I liked my variation of Stealth Nemesis (I liked to call it Lore Accurate Nemesis) until it got butchered thanks to a bugfix
Trail of Torment, Tinkerer, Insidious, Devour Hope. Add ons were Serotonin Injector, Tyrant Gore and I always sent myself to RPD while running it.
It was such a fun build to use and always a treat to rewatch the PoV of streamers. Its the same reaction people had when going against Scratched Mirror. Technically still works but its no where near as effective or fun. At least it was fun while it lasted

They still exist???
Last time Ive seen one of those was I believe back in 2019 or 2020.

I mean sure it can get annoying after a bit, but its just generic ingame BM. Remove these things and people will just find other ways to annoy each other.

Endgame is supposed to be killer sided, and should be. Survivors don't deserve a free escape
neither do killers deserve a free kill
-
no, it doesnt

I tunnel when I'm in trouble. 1 gen left still 4 survivors alive. Or if I can't keep up with the speed of the gens. Not cuz it's easy mode. A lot of killers camp or tunnel to try and make a comeback from a bad start.
I mean the way I go about it is what I call "tunneling because of an opportunity". If I see the unhooked Survivor run off to an area thats less safe than their savior, Ill just get them out.
Capitlize on their mistakes

Ah ok, I really hope it gets fixed considering that BHVR wants to make their terrain not as flat.
Yeah it can be a little annoying at times but its also VERY situational.
I also feel like the same thing that allows this to happen is the same thing that allows for better curves and slides as Demo and Billy. Which would hurt them MUCH more
-
If this is how theyre teasing us about the next chapter, thats awesome
Just realized this might actually be the killer AI every one wanted instead of Skull Merchant.
-
Its not as simple as just crouching, but there needs to be an uneven floor as well. Shack is probably the most known one, but stairs also work

Not really done has broken with aim dressing after patch. I have had more times it would move my aim away from Survivors because it thinks they are turning when they are not.
Yes missing more than your hitting is more player error but something is off with the dressing more than usual
I personally havent experienced anything different when it comes to the aim dressing
Even back when I first got my switch I tried out DbD on it and despite the bad frames and the supposedly harsher aim dressing, I didnt really notice much of a difference. (That being said I didnt have that big of a sample size)

Try to remember not everyone plays on PC. Skill issue has lost all meaning these days. Should of went with your gut and not said it.
Ok I get that, but if some one is missing the large majority of their swings thats largely on them.

But it would be great for Trickster because you can just equip the ricochet blades add-on and if there is a long small hallway it works well. Same with Huntress but you just need skill to anticipate where and when you the survivor is going. Billy, its either pure luck or pure skill. And Trapper, i don't really know but if there was like places that hide things well on the ground it would be balanced for him.
Im not saying they dont have options on these maps, Im saying their options are SEVERELY limited when compared to an outdoor map
Billy on Coldwind and Billy on Lery's might as well be 2 different games
-
12 knife combo as Trickster and then hearing that laugh.. mmmmmm

Gross generalization and you know it.
Really isnt
This last patch had equal level of crying from both sides because the perks they were clearly relying way too heavily on were nerfed.
-
I wouldnt even say its in a bad state. Just the community babies upset that their crutches were taken away
-
I think when ever some one gets unhooked in basement, all traps within an X radius (roughly 12m, something that could cover the window and both entrances) would disarm themselves
While theyre at it at making this change, make it so Trapper can search a locker to pick up an unarmed trap that is further than 40m of his location. Traps able to be picked up via this method are highlighted in a different colored aura. This ensures that you arent wasting anytime searching a locker to just be barely out of range to pick a trap up

I think they just need to add a playlist of different gamemodes that dont have balance in mind, but chaos.
This would fit perfectly

Had somebody try to send me to the map last night and thought they were really smart
all it took was playing Skull Merchant, 2 drones, and knowing about the collision issues.

Ok... Let's have a look on what happened in the past 12 months for survivors, shall we?
1) Base kit BT.
2) Ruin + Undying gutted.
3) Reassurance added to the game.
4) Nurse nerf. No more Range + Recharge.
5) New HUD.
6) Visual TR.
Clearly the devs must be killer sided!
I mean I dont think that the devs are survivor or killer sided, but these changes dont really address the issue that OP brought up
-
The next stage for the Finisher Mori, maybe even the final product.
More graphics options
A rework of maps, including the final Realm Beyond for the Swamp
Maybe a killer rework, or several which would be shown their approximate release dates on next years road map
And this one is most likely not going to happen, but the return of Stranger Things revealed to come out as the September chapter with Vecna as the killer, similar to how they revealed Project W

Aren’t indoor maps generally better for killers?
Depends
Stealth killers or killers who dont get too bothered with LoS breakers are great
A killer like Trickster, Billy, Huntress or Trapper tho? Get kind of screwed over
