I mostly feel indifferent, but there are a few Im not too much of a fan of
Plague: As a Mettle of Man enjoyer, I basically cant run in to take hits without drinking Dasani, which just screws up the entire team
Freddy: Boring. Most people just run your typical slow down perks and then he doesnt even have fun or engaging gameplay on the Survivor side.
Pinhead: SoloQ nightmare
Chucky: Heavily promotes hold W gameplay, and you know hes going to down you eventually with scamper.

I agree, a 3 minute timer is a little crazy.
If they do decide to go through with it though, heres what I propose as a trade off: Make Rule Set No. 2 basekit.
-
I agree with most of the pig changes, only one I disagree with is the timer increase.
Also weve been asking for this for years now, Rule Set No. 2 basekit please :)

League of Legends - Has bans and is 5v5, also has ranked modes and is built to be competitive with a much healthier and consistent balancing cycle. Has a surrender feature. Strict DC and queue dodge penalties.
Dota 2 - Similar to above but also has a pause feature to accommodate long game times and also has comeback features and a ton of ways to play from behind. Strict DC penalty but allows other players to leave if someone else does for no penalty.
Fortnite - Can queue up for squads to do challenges then leave whenever you want. No dc penalty of any kind. May have some in ranked modes but I don't mess with that.
Overwatch - Compeititve team based shooter, no DC penalty outside of ranked.
DBD - Abysmal balancing team, no competitive identity. Constant tug of war between being a casual party game and a competitive horror game. Tons of ways to BM or make games a slog for both sides. No ranked mode. No way to reconnect to a game.
I bring up killer because everyone seems to be obsessed with forcing survivors to have to be bled out and humped by a tunneling spirit with NOED or a four slowdown Skull Merchant or teammates that crouch in a corner all game. But nobody wants to address the reasons for hook suicides
I bring up killer because I don't see why they're permitted to lobby shop but survivors are being told to take what they get and deal with it. These two things are definitely related.
But I am of the opinions that DC penalties are terrible design outside of ranked or competitive game modes/games. DBD is too amateur to be a competitive game so I'm not sure why it has a DC penalty. It's quite refreshing playing other games that don't have one and I don't even notice a decrease in match quality.
Doesnt matter what game, point is some one disconnecting from a game ruins the experience for everyone, and DbD does have a system in place that can be easily worked around which shouldnt be the case.
Also whos telling Survivors to "just deal with it"? Whenever the topic comes up its mainly people suggesting to have a bleedout option when all Survivors are downed or to have the game end.

Survivor players shouldn't get DC penalty anymore anyway because of bots. And if intentional dying on hook is bannable maybe tunnel/camping/slug or AFK be bannable. The devs stated that defending gens is not normal gameplay. Bannable? Complaining on forums bannable?
Theres a difference between intentionally throwing the game and using a strategy. 3 genning, al though VERY unhealthy, was a strategy and thus it was addressed.
Killing yourself on hook is simply griefing, plain and simple. I know its not ever gonna become a reportable/bannable offense, but at the very least they need to put some sort of system to stop it from happening.
-
@Veritere said:
Can we also make tunneling and slugging bannable?
Tunneling and slugging are viable strategies
Killing yourself on hook is purposefully throwing the game.

The game would be so awful if they did remove the ability to do so sorry.
As killer it means a free win so I don't care.
As survivor it means a quick match. If someone is going next it probably means the killer is playing something annoying. So I don't really care either.
If they remove this then they need to remove killer ability to dodge lobby or see pre game information.
"If they remove this then they need to remove killer ability to dodge lobby or see pre game informafion." I agree, but have no idea how the 2 correlate here.
Also the game would be MUCH better off if you didnt have somebody spoil the game for the rest. Most games out there punishes people for leaving or throwing, why make DbD an exception?

Isn't that what the game does anyway? When a match ends, whatever the outcome, you sit in the lobby and wait for the next one.
Yes, but Id rather play a game that lasts 10-15 minutes and then get sent to the lobby rather than a 5 minute one

The point is that killers finish their games just fine by not having a way to go next. They either finish the match or they eat the penalty, which is something that apparently can't apply to survivor. Perhaps I could have framed it a bit less sardonic, but I kept seeing the same regurgitated "you can't force people to play" argument which comes up in every topic on this subject.
Ok.. but thats not the point. The point is Survivors shouldnt be able to have an out either. Survivors are the one brought up here because they are, as you mentioned, the only ones who do have a work around.

what you're saying is just proving my point though. this thread is specifically talking about the survivor POV. meaning this person is.. still.. out of place.
like i said, i don't care about if people want to have a discussion about this, it's just this is very clearly the wrong place for it, and them acting like they can just halt a conversation and make it about the other role is very poor on them to do.
Yeah I didnt really pick up on the whataboutism aspect of it initially.
While it does sort of have relevance, it definitely isnt worth mentioning as it steers away from the actual point of the thread

i mean, i can understand why they're not advocating for a killer forfeit. because uh... it's off topic for the thread? that could be a good clue.
Im not advocating for it just as much. The reason why I am only talking about Survivors is because theyre the only ones who have an out.
If killers had an out too, I would of made sure to mention it.

How to address people giving up on hook? Chill out!
They ruin your games? So what? We Survivors lose matches all the time for all kinds of reasons, including teammates throwing. But the match is over in a few minutes, so move on. Better luck next time.
It starts getting old when you have to "chill out" several games a day
I got on to play the game, not to look at a lobby and loading screen 75% of the time

Because 4 other people also paid to play that game.
Just because you buy a ticket to watch the game doesnt mean you have the right to do whatever you want

why is the person killing themselves when there's two people left a problem? that leaves one survivor left, so that one survivor has a higher chance of escaping. are you saying that should be punished alongside someone killing themselves 2 minutes into the match? goddamn.
No Im not?? Im saying theres a difference between some one giving up right at the start and at the very end to benefit their teammate.

The Great Cataclysm.
It was an all out war... 2 Titans clashing with each other relentlessly. One took the form of Laurie Strode.. while the other took the form of Ghost Face..

I loved those animations personally, but it did make movement feel a little clunky

As some one who could give less of a ######### about tunneling, I can explain what is likely the thought process here.
A good killer will recognize that your best form of gen regression aint perks, but getting survivors off of gens. If Im chasing some one and I see 2 people together, Im going to disturb them as I know thats 2 Survivors who are now not on gens for a little while, and then a 3rd thanks to the person I just let go. If I see some one on a gen while chasing Ill do the same thing. If one of these people just so happen to be on death hook Ill more than likely prioritize them, but I didnt necessarily go out of my way to do so.

" I cant see how this is a bad thing"
I can. I'm not a fan on introducing bans on people by trying to work out their intent. I don't know why this community seems to have this obsession with wanting to punish other players all the time.
If it is truly an issue bHVR needs to think of ways you can't abuse it and if it's abused then bans can happen.
You trying to tell me having some one killing themselves 2 minutes into the match and another killing themselves when theres 2 people left is "hard to work out intent"?
The odd report on some one who's innocent isnt going to get some one banned. We already see this with cheating accusations, even during the cheater epidemic. How ever the actual offenders? Theyre the ones who get punished.
-
Yeah todays meta really ain't fun to go against, but that goes for both sides. No killer likes going against a full squad of meta perks either.
I honestly think that each individual perk needs to be brought down HEAVILY in terms of strength. There are several perks that have not changed over the years that were considered strong and nowadays arent even considered due to powercreep.
-
nah you won't get banned for some one accusing you. I've lost count how many times people have accused me of cheating and nothing has happened.

because i can? lol i never said i quit permanently. i can still chat and hope that they actually balance the game and weaken killers a little.
Killers arent as strong as you make them out to be, the main issue is inconsistent matchmaking.
Having 4 good Survivors matched together is as rare as seeing Twins. When it does happen tho, it might as well be a completely different game.
You'll find more and more of these matches if you bring the proper mindset with you into a match. Playing selfishly and blaming your team every time (even if some times, it really is their fault) wont get you anywhere. Focus on what you could of done better.

Part of it is because playing Killer is horrid:
- You do badly? Insults and ridicule.
- You do well? Insults, threats, and ridicule.
- You 4K? Insults, threats, and ridicule. Get accused of breaking some insipid 'rule' Survivors made up. (Seriously, I got accused of 'proxy camping' and 'tunneling' because I walked away from the hook, only to have the person rescued 5 seconds later. Having seen no one else; I returned to the hook. Where the unhooked proceeded to bodyblock me, then accuse me of 'tunneling' because I downed them and re-hooked them.) Also get told whatever Killer, perks, or map were used is 'crutch' and 'for noobs', and how you only won because of the hated Killer/perks/map.
- You don't give hatch? Expect to be called a 'sweat' and how 'you don't need to try for the 4K'. (Though I've never seen a Survivor give me a kill if they are about to 4E. Apparently only Killers can try too hard. 🙄).
It makes playing Killer a thankless job more than a fun game. Sometimes, I feel like the Survivors I play against see Killers as NPCs that exist for their fun instead of a human being trying to have fun & win, same as them.
Ive gone basically a month without this happening, and if it has then I dont remember it because Im not gonna get personally offended by a kid going "gg ez" or say some other generic insult in an chat that I know I can disable if it makes me that upset.

Most prime reward cosmetics from other games never come back, so honestly chief they might never be comin back.

Had a game a few days ago that lasted about 4 minutes as Trapper. I set down 2 traps and they all started swarming me, I was able to down one of them because he tried doing a dumb tech, then I got some one tried looping at 1 of the loops I trapped, the 3rd also tried looping at the other loop I trapped, and finally the last one died trying to pick up his team.
-
While the game has become more balanced, the chaos is what made it fun for a lot of people. Goofy techs and things that promoted creativity were being removed 1 by 1 which lowers the skill ceiling of certain characters, and it makes it so veteran players have fewer options to pick up something new to learn, which also decreases the fun factor.
If they embraced the goofy side of the community, the game would be taken a lot less seriously by a lot of people.

For me I'd want two things.
- The ability to see my teammates' perks before a game starts. Yes I would dodge a ton but it'd be so nice to avoid players with nonsensical loadouts.
- Voice chat. Including proximity chat that both killers and survivors could use to talk to each other mid match.
Seeing each others perks would be nice, would allow for a bit more team
As for VC I understand why they arent doing it, but Id love it.

The Finisher Mori I feel like is something thats gonna suddenly drop on us like they did with the Endgame Collapse.
Before we had it there were I believe 2 PTB's which experimented with closing the hatch. One that was literally just, closing the hatch. Nothing else happened. The 2nd one had the added effect of instantly powering the gates. Then there was radio silence for roughly a year, and then we all of a sudden got a trailer for the Endgame Collapse.
-
The gamemode is actually surprisingly fun, how ever I feel like a few changes could be made to make it better and more atmospheric.
Imo the red particles need to go. They dont really fit with what they were going for.
Killer breathing sounds should be increased for the Survivor point of view, and killers should have Stridor
Sounds should be a lot more echo-ey and some of them map wide. There was a bug wayyy back where some sounds were map wide but it sounded far in the distance. I will always remember a game I had against a Huntress on Red Forest with heavy fog.. hearing her yell across the map each time she threw a hatchet, as well as hearing the gate buzz to indicate it was almost open.
Most people at the time thought these changes were made to help solo q, but unfortunately it was patched the next update.

I agree that he isn't the weakest killer in the game, but he is close. This is the weakest he has ever been.
And yet, his kill rate is higher than Huntress. It is almost the same as Hillbilly's. It is not drastically altered by hook suicides like Skull Merchant's.
I legit have no explanation for that, and I main Freddy.
Weakest he's ever been is definitely a stretch, as he still has a decent kit but its just lacking a few things. Yes he received a pretty hefty nerf a few years ago, but he was still considered a decent killer even after that.
What really happened is he got power crept. While he stayed the same, stronger and stronger killers were being introduced, as well as other killers being reworked/buffed.
-
Dredge is probably because of his inconsistencies. One thought is to make him be able to teleport to totems, double the amount of them, and to be able to rekindle them. We havent had a killer power involving totems yet, and Dredge would be a perfect fit for this. The rekindle part is so theres still counterplay, but his power cant be taken away from him.
Would it completely fix his issues? No. But it definitely wouldnt hurt
-
After a match has reached 15 minutes, Survivors positions will be revealed briefly every so often. The frequency scales with how many are left.
4 Survivors = 3 minutes
3 Survivors = 2.5 minutes
2 Survivors = 2 minutes
Survivors also receive a repair speed bonus. Once again, this scales with how many are left.
4 Survivors = 10%
3 Survivors = 15%
2 Survivors = 25%
In addition, when only 2 Survivors remain they can pick themselves up without the help of another Survivor.
This way the killer cant just patrol a tight 3 gen (even with the current system, it can still be difficult to break through) and Survivors are more than likely not going to stick around for a 10% speed boost.
Same goes for the 3 Survivors remaining, how ever the speed boost is still not significant enough to stealth just to get it, and they get revealed every so often.
When 2 Survivors are remaining and there are still gens left the game can feel hopeless, especially if the killer slugs to get the 4k. This way the killer cant slug, but is incentivized to take chase as they get information on the current whereabouts of Survivors. This also acts to incentivize Survivors to do gens instead of hiding, because they cant.
Once 1 Survivor remains, the game stays as normal. Endgame perks are deactivated but ONLY if they close the hatch. Meaning itll still work outside of a 1v1 scenario.
Of course the numbers could be tweaked, but let me know what you think

A bit high for a killer that many are considering to be the weakest in the game, isn't it?
Many players still DC or give up immediately against Skull Merchant, and that has an impact on her kill rates. That doesn't make her too strong or overpowered.
I wouldnt say he's the weakest, but even then a weak killer nowadays is MUCH better than a weak killer say 2-3 years ago. As time goes on, killer has gotten stronger and stronger
