Imagine a dead by daylight where cheaters have a hard time, kappa :D
Will never happen though.
There has been no proper server validation for 7 years, nothing happens, the topic is avoided as much as possible. What is important are 45 different Feng skins and with this community there is also a lot of revenue on this.
In summary, you have to accept it or change the game, I can assure you if nothing has changed in 7 years nothing will change in the future.
-
I've been playing the game since 2018. With a few breaks, which were always a few months.
I can say that back then there used to be significantly more obvious cheaters and today there are significantly more subtle cheaters. Many beginning and not so potent players don't know the difference due to their lack of gaming experience. This means that these players only see the obvious cheaters.
On the topic: Adding an anti-cheat
The game still has no server validation to date (for 7 years).
In summary: Do you know Flat Earthers? They care as much about a round earth as BHVR cares about useful cheat protection.
-
I would be more in favor if the perk simply converted the instant skill checks when leaving a generator so that they worked like an overcharge skill check.
But that would probably be way too strong. So it probably remains a wet dream

Billy, Chainsaws can easily hold ~1 hour worth of fuel, idk what kind of saw can run out of fuel in 30s unless you have a massive hole in the fuel tank or put in like 3 drops of fuel but that doesn't really track
Blight, Flowers in every trial aren't lore friendly for blight since they only bloom once a year, its basically his wonder drug he has to ration until it comes back every Halloween
Wesker, He doesn't have to recharge a virus it gives him powers because it altered him physically not he uses the mass of the virus to do XYZ at the cost of it shrinking till he recharges or waits a while, if anything make him drink a energy drink or something
None of these are accurate or even niche in terms of lore to any of the character and using a "backstory" or haphazard "logic" in a video game to nerf a character is just silly
Please don't get me wrong but the game has nothing to do with down earth logic.
As a survivor, I mean getting a hook rammed through the chest/shoulder several times and you are good to go after 16 sec of healing.
This is about a good, fair playing feeling. And that must apply to survivors AND killers. I think the OP's approach is the right one. But you have to approach it carefully and take countermeasures.Killers that have very little counterplay like Nurse or Blight are problematic. Billy has a little more counter play but he also has instant down. All factors that have to be taken into account.
-
Quite subjectively, some I find better with new lighting, others worse.
At Halloween time it would be a good idea to temporarily take the darker versions so that newer players can also have this experience later.

Kb/m support for consoles…
There is still no support for that on consoles? Didn't know that.
As a mouse and keyboard player, I would also like an overhaul of the controls.I think it's happened to everyone at some point: Killer chase, you wanted to do a fast vault and then disappeared into the nearby locker because the same key performs both functions.

I don't know if it would count as one thing, but capped limits to speeds would be nice. I guess technically the code behind a cap would be one thing.
Progression, regression, healing speeds, gen block timers, and anything of the sort would benefit from having a cap from synergies becoming too problematic and allow for perks to be at their peak strength themselves, or a max strength combined with something else.
I agree. Gen rep speed in particular is ridiculously high if you also use the toolbox and various perks. But other things like healing are also problematic.
Basically, II have to say that in this topic, killer perks are nowhere near as problematic here as they are with survivor. -
I would also be in favor of it, apart from the fact that P100 is no longer so difficult to achieve.
If I compare that in 2018 you had to play several matches to level a single bloodweb, it has now become very easy with all the blood points.
The cap could also be increased or removed completely from p100, because now it is no longer a matter of specializing but rather of achieving p100 on all characters.
-
I had the problem before as a killer. It was also an event game.
I picked up the survivor in an event pallet, he had the perks flip-flop + power struggle and stunned me with the even pallet. Despite the stun, the survivor did not get free and was on my shoulders for the rest of the game.Maybe some problem in the event, this has never happened to me in a normal match.
-
That's great. Next year, with the changes that are necessary, it really won't be that long, the suffering hopefully will soon be over.

does the glorious bootie return? would prefer that "add-on"

there are a lot of anti tunnel perks. if you have to DC every 3rd game maybe change the game?

- Survivor puts on DS/OTR, afraid of ‘tunneling’
- Killer plays nice and not tunnel
- Survivor feels their perks wasted as they didn’t get any value from it
- Survivor proceeds to bodyblock Killer to get value
- Killer commits the chase and ‘tunnel’ him out
- “Every killer tunnels, and perks don’t help!”
Seriously that’s what happened in my Killer games. So many times I’m accused of tunnelling because someone decides to bodyblock me when I go for the unhooker.
Anyway, I think with the new babysitter, this is gonna happen a lot more often.. TT
You know if a survivor body blocks with babysitter active the effect of it is non existent.
Apart from the fact that this would be a pretty stupid play, there is no disadvantage for you as a killer.
If a survivor aggressively tries to block you with his anti tunnel perks, hit him as early as possible.
There's no reason to play around it, after the hit there is no more collision with this survivor. -
just like in every other Multiplayer game, where you only get banned in a ranked match, but not in standard ones.
You're ruining the gaming experience for 4 players, you realize that, right?
In other games such as DOTA or League of Legends, even in the case of a DC in normal games you get time penalty that you have to actively serve in the queue and also bans.

We have bots now. If anything DCs should be less punished, just like in every other Multiplayer game, where you only get banned in a ranked match, but not in standard ones.
Why that's not a thing yet, idk
Have you ever played as a killer against 4 bots? If everyone were as crazy as you, this would be the norm.
II contradict you. DC penalties should be even higher. -
Tbh it's a good thing that the bans are accumulate. such behave should not be encouraged.

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3753394#Comment_3753394
Have you played on Forgotten Ruins since the hotfix?
True, I can confirm that, it's much better for killers now that the window is gone.
Sadly, they didn't fix the exit gates problem. These are still fixedly placed (very close to each other) so that the killer always has both exits in view. -
Additionally, please show all profiles as anonymous or show fully all profiles. no longer either/or.
The fact that the killer can always check out every single survivor and the survivors don't have this option is just stupid.
There should be nothing visible or everyone. -

Well said. We really should get an official statement on this issue, this is a major breach of security.
If there really is an official BHVR statement, could it be that server-side validation and useful cheat protection will finally be introduced?
I know the topic is avoided and suppressed as much as possible. But perhaps now there is more pressure for something to be done.A Dead by Daylight with useful cheat protection. What a wet dream that might come true.
-
We really need usable cheat protection and server validation at some point. It can't be that cheaters/hackers have so much power in this game and nothing can be done about it.
If you are not a well-known streamer and have your community back you up, then such an unlawful ban is probably really final.
It's time! -
Can't use self heal, how dare you bring an item they don't like, etc
There are some more effective and some less effective perks. Play as you want, there are also some quests in the tomb/archive that restrict the player.
Using in game chat to work with survivors and killers to target individual players is weak, but BHVR do nothing
What chat? Killers can't chat with survivors in the lobby or what chat you mean?
And yes, killers have the freedom to choose how they play the game: tunneling, slugging, camping or even farming with the survivors. They are in the drivers seat.BHVR has done A LOT! When I started the game in 2018 it was really terrible to play, especially for killers. The long animations (hook, break, etc.), the infinite loops... It's really gotten a lot better since then. It's far from perfect (especially the lack of server-side validation is long overdue) but compared to back then, a lot has changed for the better.

I wonder why server side validation havent been implemented ages ago, i mean we all buy the DLC every 3 months, so the money should be there to make it happen.
I think it's simply because no revenue/profit is generated.
As you have already rightly mentioned, the DLC's and skins are bought regularly and they pay off well.
So the majority of players seems to be happy and a "health patch" (as released in some other games) is not a priority... unfortunately

This has been happening for like 2 month now, popular and small content creators on twitch, YouTube and Twitter have been getting randomly banned out of nowhere. AbnormalRamen, Altair, Griff, Angelolo. The amount of people getting banned out of nowhere is starting to freak me out. Choy says there are hackers impersonating these popular accounts and getting them falsely banned, they're also apprently going for random players what's really a HUGE problem. Every time I play DBD now I'm absolutely terrified of waking up and having my account taken down out of nowhere. This cannot keep on going, how can we protect ourselves from getting randomly banned and if we do how can we recover our accounts if every ticket is getting immediately closed without any investigations unless the community makes a huge fuss about it.

It's really time (after 7 years) that something is done here. A server-side validation would be a start, a NEEDED one.
And after that an automatic, useful cheat protection.
It can't be that hackers (especially the increasing subtle ones) have it that easy to cheat in this game and can only be caught with clear video material. In addition, not everyone records their matches constantly using software.Competitive game modes and ranking lists can only “sensibly” go online / be released when this protection is available.
BHVR should really finally prioritize this. -

Hooking a survivor is mandatory, the game from a killer pov cannot be advanced without it. it's not a "common action" It's mandatory.
You can sabo a hook before someone is picked up, therefore the person may drop the player then just slug.
As a survivor, your task is to repair generators, there is no way around it.
As a killer, your task is to kill survivors.
How they do it is their decision. If hooking is too difficult for several specific reasons/conditions, then slugging is an option.
Some killers are slugging intentionally from the start, which is their game plan, which brings us back to the thread topic. -
This perk combo is honestly too strong and more and more in my games. There is no limited uptime. no limit on items and if you pick up the item you become oblivious.
I can well imagine that Weave Attunement will soon receive some nerfs, just like Ultimate Weapon.
It was a licensed chapter. I think that is a standard process now. -
That's a lot of perk changes. Some of them are unnecessary, others I find okish.
Gen speed in particular should be significantly reduced as it's unhealthy in general. Déjà-vu, for example, is a good perk to avoid 3 gen situations and not waste time searching for genes. However, I would delete the repair boost completely. For some perks like resilience I would keep the healing bonus. Since healing is a secondary goal and is still limited or countered by many things, it is okay to receive a bonus for it.
I would remove the repair speed everywhere and I still don't understand why there are always new perks here.
As you mentioned on the perk autodidact, I would like it if all perks that have an impact on several players are displayed (also e.g. botany knowledge, etc.) -
Why do cheaters cheat? It's the same answer to your question: They want to win at all costs, period.
Some players (generally) would still enjoy it if all survivors started the match crawling on the ground.
Victory counts, however they achieve it. -

Most normal killers, react to how survs are playing, if you're sabo and flashlighting then the killer is more likely to slug.
They may not have intended that when joining a game, but if you're trying to prevent hooks then isn't it the killer reacting?
If they're "gen rushing" the first surv is likely to get tunnelled, so other survs come to peel.
The game is about creating pressure, when one "side" is reacting to the other's pressure, then you're technically winning.
I do not think so.
For the survivors, the ultimate global achievement (and the active) is to repair all generators.
Anything unrelated to this is indirectly related to creating/saving more time so that the main goal can be achieved and it becomes more difficult for the killer.
Hooking a survivor is the common killer action. Some counters are sabotage or flashlight saves, react to the action of hooking. The killer change this style of play with switch to slugging to prevent being countered. -

It's not that 'not all swf are that good' it's that there's a reality that no one is perfect and everyone is defeatable.
I don't give one single crap about comp DbD. Partly because there are limitations on both sides, but mostly because it's the most boring gameplay I've ever seen. I want fun games, as do most people who play them in their free time.
The people who play games in their free time to win shouldn't be surprised when they start getting opponents who also want to win.
But even at the top, max level, survivor teams still lose. Comp tournaments defeat them, and you can watch hens, team eternal, or other really good teams play public and they're not going to win every game either, even with no restrictions.
The max win steak for 4 man is, I believe about 240 in a row or so. And that was a comp team specifically going as far as they could to set the record. For reference, that's on par with the trapper win steak, and blight broke 2000. So even in public, no holds barred matches, killers are more unstoppable at the top end than survivors are.
More to the point, people who tend to think they're 'high MMR' aren't. They're just going against people with more skill than they are. It doesn't take a lot for some people to hit their peak and blame anything and everything on something else.
You seem to be obsessed with winning, and also seen to be obsessed with the idea that a 4 man swf is completely unstoppable. So maybe you should join the discord and get a 4 man group going. You'll see very quickly how that plays out.
But since that would require you to both play as survivor, and challenge your core belief that SWF is the devil, that will likely never happen.
True words and unfortunately that's how it is these days.
Anything except 3k or 4k counts as loose for killers today. And if you don't consistently achieve these results one after the other, then the complain starts. Every time if a new killer comes out and the player doesn't get 3 or 4k regularly after the first 10 matches, there will be a clamor for buffs, i enjoy it every release, its more consistent than an atomic clock.I provided comp games as an example of how things go at the top level. The highest amount of pressure a killer can apply is to keep 3 survivors busy, not 4, unless they screw up badly.
The fact that comp, with all the restrictions and rules, is seriously compared to public matches shows me that there is a fundamental lack of game knowledge here.
The max win steak for 4 man is, I believe about 240 in a row or so. And that was a comp team specifically going as far as they could to set the record. If a Blight can do a 2000 streak then you have to ask yourself how good the balancing is in the game and of course BHVR will then set consequences (Blight nerf, anti tunnel perk buff, etc.) Thank God and that's a good thing.

No, they can complain about gen rushing, but they wouldn't be like "How dare you survivors do this!" whereas killer strategies always get that treatment.
That's because the killers are in the driver's seat. They actively decide how the game is played, whether to tunnel, slug, camp, gen kick, whether to use an aura build, etc.
Survivors have perks to react to possible playing styles and to counter, as a passive part.
-
It's the same with Skull Merchant and Twins. What terrible killer design of that both right now and unhealthy game play.
Of course, there are players who enjoy this type of game, just as there are cheaters who enjoy it for weeks/months even though they are basically cheating themselves, but a good psychologist would be more advisable if you find something like this to be "fun".
-
I just don't get it…. If a survivor only has anti tunnel perks, how do I counter this play style? ofc i hard tunnle, kappa
Survivor doesnt like when killer combine 4 slowdown perk/ but full anti tunnel survivors build is the same way annoying to deal with on killer side.
4 Slowdown perks have no PROPER counters. As survivors you still have to get the 5 generators done somehow.
But as a killer you can probably decide whether you tunnel or not. If you only win games by hard tunneling that's a skill issue right there, I'm sorry. -

Wow thanks for the education. I really love learning. I hear you about discussing cheating. I’ve tried mentioning cheating too and people usually are reluctant to believe anyone who thinks cheating is happening.
That's no problem at all, you're welcome.
Yes, unfortunately the topic is often ignored or avoided. To be honest, the obvious cheaters don't bother me that much, and I even sometimes find it funny how creative they are.
What really bothers me are the subtle ones, because it's not good for your own sanity if you constantly doubt yourself. -
@HerInfernalMajesty said:

I’m curious, how does it detect subtle cheating?
Wall hacks are very common and, above all, risk-free hacks that are used in Dead by daylight. They are very difficult to prove and as part of the community now knows, bans are only issued if it can be clearly proven through evidence (screens or videos), as there is no automatic cheat protection.
So why does the Distortion perk help here? Let me explain:
Without distortion: "OK, the killer found me straight away again. Maybe he had perk XYZ. Well, whatever, move on to the next one."
With distortion:
"OK, the killer found me straight away again even though I have distortion and, like before, still had tokens left. That's strange, I'll wait in the lobby and check the killer's perks at the end of the match."And now comes the discussion about game knowledge and game sense again. I've been playing the game since 2018 and have gained a lot of experience since then. What I can say is that there are players with very good game knowledge and who also track survivors well. But if there is no 50/50 loss and the players are constantly being found, then something is wrong.
The topic of cheating is avoided as much as possible, be it by the community or by the studio itself. The fact is that there is still no server validation and automatic cheat protection, which makes it very easy if you don't make it too obvious.
The current distortion is a useful tool to better identify suspicious behavior.Back in 2018, when I started the game, cheating wasn't such a big problem and the cheaters we had made it very obvious. Today, however, you rarely find people who obviously cheat. However, subtle cheating is more common than most people think.
A sad fact but unfortunately most people don't care anyway.
-
server side validation and add cheat protection
-
Since there has been no server-side validation for 7 years and the cheat protection in this game leaves a lot to be desired, the current distortion is a good tool for detecting subtle cheating.

As we cannot neither know what anonymous players nor what other players with the 'Planet/globe' icon are blocked, so to have in blocked users list as 'Friends' and 'Offline' will be a nice feature.
As a reminder, I already have to remember the 1.300 blocked players on Steam, it is sad to do not have a little help to avoid all the others that we cannot memorize or identify in any manners.Since there is no REAL feature to prevent/disable cross play, I don't think BHVR will introduce a blacklist feature.
Another important argument is that this does not generate any income.
The same reason why after 7 years there is still no server-side validation.I would also like a block list where you could block at least 100 players that you no longer want to play against.
Blocking anything more than that wouldn't be a good idea because it would be exploited as always.
f.e.: This player plays too well and ruins my streaks,.. and so on… -
I would agree with the idea that hooks don't break at all.
But at the same time make that the killer close to hooks have their power completely deactivated.
Projectiles from Huntress or Tricktster won't hit either.
Then this senseless, unhealthy proxy camping will finally stop. When the endgame starts, this function should deactivate like the anticamp. -
can confirm that, same here

Or have it only recharge ONLY in chase so people using it have to take the heat every now and again, I think that could work too.
I think the people asking for it to be nerfed or reworked aren't considering why it is so popular at the moment. Being able to see survivors as killer is insanely powerful and there are tons of ways to reveal survivor aura. It is a really comfy perk to run to prevent being wallhacked 24/7 or to at least know when that is happening to play around it when you are out of stacks.
I am not gonna say it isn't silly that it counters so much but it is equally silly that you can basically be revealed to the killer at all times with the right build.
Especially killers with high mobility who are already very strong benefit from aura-showing abilities much more than others.
If you compare, back then perks like "Whispers" or "Spies from the Shadows" were very strong perks for a nurse compared to today.
Distortion back then wouldn't have made sense in the meta, today it's different. -

I was in a Masquerade match where the Killer slugged for the 4K, typical game of DBD. But after a while of picking my teammate up then working on the gens, he finally downed us both.
After hooking her across the map, he flew over and decided to stand on me using all his spells over and over (He was a Lich).
I had barely lost any bleedout, so I had practically a full bar, all while he just kinda bm'd me over and over.
Obviously, this is very boring, and I clearly won't make some grand escape, so I got up and made Coffee to pass time.
I come back and he's STILL just cycling spells and pointing at me and such, and I have crows of course.
At the last slither of health, he picks me up and tosses me on a hook, hitting me and nodding as he does so.
So here's the gripe: Why is this even something.
I have no idea what could be implemented to discourage this type of behavior. And no, I don;t think slugging is the issue, it's the fact I was the last survivor, with no means of actually ending the game in any way due to bleeding out. I obviously could'a just crawled until I found hatch, but the futility of the situation and my expectation for him to grow bored just lead me to walk away for a bit, yet he still wasted a lot of time and proceeded to bm as though I was in a 4man with all flashlights refusing to participate (I also record all my matches and looked back, and lo-and-behold, he actually stood there bming the ENTIRE time).
I was just thinking, if there's literally no way to escape, the killer has everyone else dead, and I have obviously no means of saving myself, can the Devs just make a "Give UP" button kinda like the Unhook self button?
And I mean specifically in these kinds of scenarios, where the killer is actively refusing to abide normal flow of game.Strangely enough, there is actually a type of people who find satisfaction in being BM as efficient as possible in games.
Normally this style of play should not be encouraged, instead a good psychologist should be automatically recommended via email before anything bad happens, but we are in DBD and THAT is the norm here. -

Nice way of ignoring the point, lmao.
I played 10 Vecna games today and had 3/4 kills in all but two of them. I've gotten pretty good at using his power, and it also helps that survivors aren't good at countering him yet. But that doesn't mean the killer isn't weak. I also win consistently with Dream Pallet Freddy. Does that mean he's strong?
Also, DBD is a game where getting 4 kills consistently doesn't necessarily mean a killer is strong or weak. I would think that’s common knowledge by now, but clearly it’s not the case.
Okay, then keep practicing. As you can see, you're getting better, you just need to give it some time.
If Nurse were released today, many players would describe her as "extremely weak and poorly developed" as it takes 30+ games to achieve. This is an established fact.
You're already doing well with your 8/10 3K games. As a nurse you would need more time to achieve the same result.
Just keep it up and I look forward to further updates on how you get on.
Edit: there is already some feedback from the devs
