…but it can't be a thing that hundreds or more survivors arent able to play the game because we're getting an hacker invasion. Its not playable for a lot of players at the moment. I can play like 1-2 Rounds and then I'll get a hacking Nurse / Spirit again. Penalty. I play 1 round…normal. Next Round..same Hacker. Penalty. Repeat.

Unfortunately, this is an unsustainable approach. The problem is not the DC punishment but the hackers.

For example, if there is a problem with the repair speed of the generators, the solution is not to remove the generators, I hope that is understandable.

A useful cheat protection should finally be developed, or a basic server validation.
As of now Dec24, DBD is a game like no other designed for hackers, period.

  • "DBD is a game made for cheaters" - a very true statment

  • To be fair, they almost can't make cheat protection usable anymore.

If they implemented this without a comment there would be a lot of threads saying "was banned unjustifiably". It's worse than most people think.

  • Ok, so I'm not the only one who noticed it.

I also had it 3 times on the same day that exactly the map that was requested as an offer came even though Sacrifical Ward was being played.

How likely is it that this will happen? Maybe it was an incredible coincidence, or maybe this new version of Sacrifical Ward doesn't work at 100% but at 97% or something.

  • @Cratter said:

You'd think server checks would be able to tell whether you died or disconnected.

If I had to guess, I would say it is implemented like this: "If match duration is less than 3min for whatever reason -> consider it as DC and award penalty to player"

  • @BurnedTerrormisu said:

I guess these are the server checks BHVR was talking about they will implement against cheaters. But it's just bugged, because of tradition and bans the wrong person.

To be fair, these server checks are probably as well implemented as all of the cheat protection in this game as a whole.

That's why it's still a fully manual process. I have NEVER experienced a cheater being automatically banned. Video proof, ticket reporting and a detailed description.

Nothing will change in the near future, as sad as that may sound, it is a hard fact.

Why do so many people go out of their way to be jerks when they are already winning? Played a game earlier with a team of cheaters who didn't start actively, blatantly cheating until we were winning (4 gens done, and only 1 hook). I played another against a Huntress who went so crazy hard, tunneling and camping just outside of proximity when she already had 7 hooks, and we hadn't even gotten a 3rd of a gen done (she was really good at getting downs immediately, and had all the gen blow perks), and then let us all bleed out on the ground. Why?

For the record, I am a survivor main, but I do play both sides. To me, the game is tied when there are 2 hooks per gen, but neither of those is the point. The point is why do some people TRY to draw out the games, and make it as miserable as possible? Do you get off on it?

I know it's just a game, but why is the onus on me to forgive/forget it, or to move on, or ignore it, or whatever. Why is the onus never on those people? I'm not upset that I lost either. I didn't lose the game with the cheaters, they pretty much guaranteed that we would win. I am upset that more, and more players have no soul. It's not either sides job to make sure the other has "fun", but it is your job to not BE A JERK FOR NO REASON!

What can I say: Yes, that's the game.

Regarding the cheater topic, you can almost say: Yes, they are actually welcome in this game.

Not that not a word was said about it in the last QA (an ever-growing problem, especially if subtle), there is also no significant protection against it, we don't even need to discuss it, that's a hard fact.

Regarding the overall player base, yes, unfortunately most of them are very toxic. I would even go so far as to say it's worse than dota, lol, and CS.

The most important thing I say every time again: If you don't like it → DO NOT SUPPORT IT.

That means not spending any money. There is more and more advertising for products, the best example being the last patch. Receive 4.5k shards in return for advertising via email, and in-game push notifications when promotions occur.

The problem will not disappear into thin air if the money continues to flow. Things that bring profit have priority, and it's understandable. This can be clearly seen from the length of the individual segments in the last live stream.

But I'll stop now, because the words I used here are understood/read by an absolute minority here anyway.
The gaming sector evolves according to the consumers and these days they are a bit special to put it politely.

"Many like you turn a blind eye to this and that's why the situation doesn't improve" -

"I missed the part where that's my problem." - Peter Parker.

Dude, it's simple - If you don't like the game, don't like something about the game - don't buy anything and don't play it. You can try to complain, in hopes of being listened.

Vote with your money and vote with your hours of play-time. This is what average players do, ultimately they don't care about "bigger problem" and rightfully so.

We have plenty other games to play by any time.

Your points are as correct as mine. It's nice that we agree

As an average player - I do not care about cheaters, and I should not be concerned about dealing with cheaters. When I was concerned and tried to deal with them - my reports and tickets been ignored and unsolved.

Never even once I've had a pop-up window about "actions been taken against player you've reported" when I was booting up the game. And I've been reporting a blatant cheaters, creating tickets (also against the one with the YT channel) God knows how many of them.

If I was a big streamer - any report or ticket made by me would've been answered day 1.

As of now - I'm not using an in-game report, I don't create tickets about anything, and I don't report about any bugs. If something is going to bother me in the game - I'd just play a different game, as any average player would do.

I hope I answered about: - "How serious the cheating problem for the average DBD player."

I couldn't have asked for a better example.

You ignore my tickets/problems whatever, take all my money and do whatever you want.

This is the reason why games like FIFA and Call of Duty XY continue to sell so well every year even though there is almost no new content.

    and regarding the cheater targeting:
Cheaters who cheat/hack subtly ideally don't want to play against streamers at all, as they often have the experience to convict them. The software they use makes it possible to either play against streamers or avoid them.

Many like you turn a blind eye to this and that's why the situation doesn't improve, unfortunately that's the gaming sector now. The consumer determines the market.

If I had cheaters in 8 games out of 10 - I'd like to see how I'm gonna spend money on such game or even bother to play.

Fortunately cheaters now less of a problem than it was in 2021-2022, and the future of this game is still bright to me.

That's why I'm still buying what I like.

I've been playing the game since the beginning of 2018 and have seen many ups and downs.

I didn't have the first cheater until the end of 2019. Then the obvious cheaters really started. Since then these have become much fewer. I rarely have obvious cheaters these days, but I have many who try keep it subtle.

Because many players are not very experienced in DBD, they don't recognize the slight differences, which is not a problem if you don't have that much experience. But the hacker/cheater problem is more serious than the average DBD player realizes.

  • The sad thing is that there are a lot of people complaining about cheats/hacks in the game but in the same time also spending hundreds of dollars on skins, so sad it's funny again.

Advantageous IQ player base for BHVR sales.

  • Yes, the design went horribly wrong.

Either do the same for the boon totems, so that only one blessing can be active, or change the invocations so that you can do both at the same time.

The values of the invocations are really not so exaggerated that this would not be possible, and you also run a high risk if you stay in the basement for that long.

Unfortunately, there seems to have been a lot of sloppy thinking.

  • @Memesis said:

Just looks like an average solo que lobby to me

Yes, these are average lobbies these days. nothing changes about it either.

  • you guys have no idea what it was like back in 2018 when you left a match with an average of 15,000 to 20,000 BP.

In comparison, we are still drowning in blood points after this change.

  • I haven't played much DBD lately. but today...

    https://youtu.be/sZezwe_Vo8E
  • will not happen.

    that will cost money.

    it doesn't generate money

  • I think it's well made as is.

As I always say, you have to look at the whole thing from both sides. And it's just part of it that it can be a strategy for the killer to zone the hook. There are also perks for survivors to counteract this.

However, there is one thing that I would adjust. The camping bar progress indicator should be displayed globally for each survivor. Here we are again at the difference between SWF and solo player. This gap should be closed and the killers should then be strengthened accordingly.

  • The uncomfortable truth is that many players here only really play one side and then consider themselves a seasoned professional.

I've read a lot of posts here now and no joke, it's always clear in the first 3 lines which side this player is fighting for in the rest of his post.

Well, let’s get that out of the way. What it boils down to is that players always play the game with their own motivation. A fun social evening with friends, Tomb quests & achievements, blood points, streaks, comp play, etc.

I'll avoid writing a wall of text now because it comes to the following summary:
The fact is that with the advantage of coordination in SWF, players have an advantage over solo players. BVHR has already improved a few things here. The long-term goal should be to supplement differences (missing information compared to SWF, kindred basekit, global anitcamp measurement, etc..) for the solo player. Afterwards, killers (AND PERKS) should be strengthened so that it is fair for both sides again.

Many good points have already been made for both sides, but these are things that can follow.

  • yes i had some wall hackers in 2vs8 already. usually they are rare and most of the don't show it but keep it subtle as they are completely save that way.

As a survivor it is very easy to identify these hackers because here in 2vs8 you are always informed when your own aura is shown to the killers.

When unusual gameplay happens (survivors are pulled out of cupboards and distributed across the map) it already seems suspicious.

It's worth watching the VOD after the match to be sure ofc, there are players with a lot of game knowledge.

    BUT!

I can assure you there are more hackers/cheaters in DBD than most people admit.

New perks that include aura reading or small movement speed boosts naturally help the development studio to disguise the whole thing a little more so that the overall situation appears better.

In short: The problem has existed since 2018 and unfortunately not much useful/effective action is being taken about it. To date there is no server side validation.

It's best to just not invest any money (DLC's, skins) then maybe at some point something useful will be done about it.

  • @TapaKeHT said:

I think in this case will be easier to find and deal with cheaters. Besides everything else, players who understand how the game works are more likely to find cheaters.

And the faster cheating is stopped, the faster vulnerabilities will be eliminated.

Finding/reporting cheaters/hackers should never be a manual effort, perhaps in absolute exceptional cases. There should be an automatic system for this, but there isn't.

Just like it's easier these days to make money with DLC's and skins because the persona spends an incredible amount of money on all of this.

Unfortunately that is the reason why this doesn't change anything about these topics, the persona determines the market and is unfortunately in free fall from an IQ perspective.

  • Before a ranked mode can be thought of, there must be automatic and usable cheat protection, otherwise once a certain rating is reached there are only cheaters/hackers in it and there are a lot of them in DBD.

  • @DallasCarter said:

The issue is at any minor inconvenience, people will struggle to second and then try to miss skill checks to go next, versus just D/Cing and letting a bot take over. The D/C penalty is bad for the game at this point.

They need to remove tunneling as well, because people will just let themselves get rehooked if you save them and they wanna go next.

Removing the DC penalty would turn the game into PvE, period.

That's why that's definitely not an option, then you can also give bots to play custom games and in the long term removing the DC penalty would definitely have this effect.

Encountering a cheater/hacker does not resolve itself by removing the DC penalty.
It may seem that way to a simple mind (many of these are inherently present in DBD), but the solution is usable better cheat protection and server side validation.

The same can be applied to other topics.

  • there is a huge ongoing hacker issue in this game (as sad as it is: a very few people are even aware of it) and with this specific game mode it would be even worse.

The priority should be addressed elsewhere first.
But who am I talking to here…? Most people dropped out after the first half of the sentence anyway and bought a new skin or DLC instead.

  • I just always go afk if I get slugged at the end and do something productive.

If it makes the killer feel better if he secures his 4k, then that's fine with me, because then there must be other bigger problems for him and I begrudge him that.

  • Is it really that difficult to understand? This topic comes up again and again.

    These are different problems:

If there are many cheaters/hackers in the game, removing the DC penalty won't solve the problem.

Just like it doesn't warrant a DC if you don't agree with a certain style of play.

If the game does not contribute to a positive development in your well-being, then it is probably more effective to change the game.

And if possible, without investing several hundred dollars in skins or DLC's first. As a result, the developers set the priority as they currently are and other topics as slugging, cheat/hacking are put aside.

  • Since 95% of all survivors are absolutely bad at the game, and I mean really crappy, the question is actually obsolete. The one who plays the worst gets tunneled.

  • What would be of great interest to me personally:

Just imagine a cheater/hacker who doesn't really cheat but just monitors all players in the match all the time in the background through his software.

I would be very curious to see what kind of data he would collect after 100 matches played.

How high the average number of cheaters/hackers would really be, including the subtle ones.

I would watch something like that on Twitch, that would be entertaining.

But you can assume that BHVR would do their absolute best to censor something like that.

  • The sad fact is that it is not a priority.

cheat protection / server side validation -> no profit

    skins, DLC -> immense profit

Players are also not aware of that if they spend a lot of money on the things mentioned, nothing will change. Unfortunately, society's IQ continues to decline.

yearly sales on Call of Duty, FIFA etc. shows this clearly…

  • 3k is a win.

Don't waste your life time camping the hatch.
If you have personal reasons or a 3k detracts from your well-being, you should consider using “no way out” to increase your chances to get the 4k.

Anyway, if getting just a 3k doesn't affect your well-being -> congratulations, you're in a good mental state.

  • so basically badham maps need some serious nerfs for survivors and same for haddonfield that need some huge buffs.

  • I've been playing the game since 2018 and have NEVER had the DC penalty pose a problem.

Are you sure that the game Dead by Daylight is good for your quality of life and well-being?

  • That sounds like a nice way to play him.

And after its future power adaptation/adjustment, the wolf will probably not be affected.

  • I really like the Weave Attunement adjustment.

  • @Skillfulstone said:

Well, guess that's that. Roadmap confirmed.

He's getting changed soon, likely nerfed (or at the very least his Bat form is getting thrown in the bin), you won. Congrats on reducing Killer variety again.

Well, a change is necessary. The game should remain fair for both sides.
And a lack of counter play isn't fair.

This may not be a problem if you only play a single side, but it is still a fact.

  • @PortaI_2 said:

As someone with over 127 days played in this game, never have I been this annoyed with Solo Que.

I play solo que Survivor by far the most and honestly its gotten pretty annoying bad. So bad so the first time in 6 years I dont care to have all survivors and killers.

Mind you I was red rank Survivor in my first two years. Don't know if just sweats play these days. But DBD is just done for me. From the frequent tunneling (thanks in large part to the 3-4 second DS nerf) To the Pay to Win Killers. Solo Surviv Que is just bad.

I've been playing the game since 2018 and have now accumulated 4k hours.

And I also no longer have all the killers/survivors in my arsenal. For me the reasons are mainly due to the lack of competent cheat protection.

But I also see that new characters, mostly licensed ones, that come into the game are released far too overpowered and then adjusted/nerfed again after a few months when the sales figures have been reached.

That happened back then with the character "Ash Williams" where the perk "Mettle of Man" was absolutely broken at the release time and now it's the same with most new licensed killers (Dark Lord, Chucky, Xeno)

There are also people who don't notice it so clearly due to their lack of gaming experience or who simply don't notice it because they joined DBD later, but there is a clear trend here that I don't like either.

  • Yes, I agree with that. But it could also lead to a side effect that killers slug the last survivor to death if they have no more control to lock/force him into the Mori animation.

Stupid, I know, but I'm telling you, there will be such cases more frequently than previously.

  • I can identify with some tier lists, but not at all with others.

Basically it's a combination with interaction of the killer, which is the subjective part, different for everyone and on the other hand how many counter play options you have that are fair.

For this reason, a Xenomorph, a Singularity, or a Chucky... would never be at the top of my list, but rather closer to the bottom of this list.

Always pre dropping pallets against a good singularity player is no fun, just like the tail attack from the alien is basically free from all range killers.

  • Yes, would be fine to a certain extent but in the same turn, his tail attack or the flame towers would have to be adjusted so that there is some counter play against the tail attack.

Of course, it's not a problem if the player isn't very experienced with the killer, but if he knows exactly what he's doing, the chased survivor has almost no counter play to avoid the tail attack.

The charging time in combination with the tail attack hit box is very tolerable and usually guarantees a hit (as I said, if the killer understands what he is doing).

The towers can prevent this to a certain extent, but there are also extremely powerful add-ons to prevent this.

  • Yes, a valid suggestion in itself.

But you always have to think the whole thing through carefully before implementing something like that.

As someone has already said: If the killer opens the exit gates (if there are still gens left to do) and thus starts the end game, all of his perks and also his power should be deactivated at the same time so that game mechanics cannot be used to his advantage, just one example.

If all survivors DC in a match and the killer is left with 4 bots, the killer should either be allowed to DC too (without penalty) or the bots should be programmed so that they run out directly when the killer opens the exit gate.

On the survivors side there could also be something like this where a special voting(majority) can take place when specific conditions are met.

But here too, the criteria for such a special vote would have to be chosen very strictly in order not to abuse the system to one's advantage (wrong killer, wrong map) as a reason for an instant ff vote.

We learned from the last 2v8 mode that the game cannot support split queues as the wait times get bad fast. Also what killer would willingly play in a comp-ish queue that would be guaranteed SWF looking to sweat when they could just pillage and steamroll mostly solos in a casual queue?

As already mentioned, there should be a competitive mode with a ranking list, there has to be some additional motivation to play it.

I think there are some people who are looking for a challenge and don't just want to stomp inexperienced survivors.
The current trend seems to be to create the highest possible win streaks, preferably against inexperienced opponents, which is not particularly healthy for the overall quality of the game. Maybe that would change for the better.

  • @JPLongstreet said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3830818#Comment_3830818

Like a year and a half ago or so they tested out much stricter matchmaking, and the results were longer queues for everyone plus burnout at the more veteran levels and among the content creators.

It turns out the sweats don't like going up against the sweats game after game after game. Enough players complained about it that they widened the ranges back where they were before.

Yes, and I agree with that in all points.

Other games have had their problems too in that a good MMR leads to all matches feeling identical and variety being lost.

That's why there should be an extra competitive mode/queue for people who really want that. But I think that the priority for this will not be too high now and I also see that there are much more important topics than that.

  • Maybe at some point there will be a more accurate MMR(or even a special competitive queue for full swf) that will solve your issue.

But they also would have to address the hacker/cheating topic at the same time.

  • @Rick1998 said:

30 seconds basekit corrupt . This could even deactivate when you enter chase . This way top killers would loose it in 5 seconds but low tiers could make use of those 30 seconds.

Honestly, basekit corrupt is essentially a good idea.

But I would find it better in conjunction with an extra starting objective for survivors. Something like, "cleanse corruption" that needs to be done before you can repair a generator. Otherwise, at the beginning the survivors just stand around bored or open a few chests.

  • For killers:

    • All hex totems that have to meet a certain condition before they have an active benefit should be a dull totem at the start of the trial. Only when the conditions are met (blood favor, devour hope, crowd control, etc.) should a dull totem become a hex one.
    • Reward in form of bonus regression when hooking different survivors / decide against the tunnel playing style

    For survivors:

    • when slugged for 2 minutes, a pop-up with a 5 second time period to return to the injured state
    • a soft version of kindred should be basekit (other surv aura yes, no killer aura), anit camp bar globally shown for every surv
    • a surrender vote option when specific conditions are met

PVE would be better than being paired with people that you don’t wanna play this game with, and basically being forced to play the game with cheaters/toxic players or take some ridiculous penalty.

The real problem is that unfortunately there is no server validation in dead by daylight, cheaters have it very easy. This is where some improvements would be nice.

"Toxic" play style etc. is purely subjective. Developers have officially confirmed that various play styles that are toxic in nature belong in the DBD universe.

There is currently no "give up" function. You can let yourself die on the hook / suicide, which isn't nice for your teammates but ends your suffering quicker ( what I personally really hate to see but understand it in some circumstances)

As a killer you can go AFK or start the endgame if the conditions are met.

Lol I remember that. No I was just trying to make sure that it's not some kind of in-game motion for like "hey do the hokey pokey" or something.

Yes, sometimes people just mess around a bit and it doesn't hurt anyone much, it's even funny.

Other times, people intentionally sabotage the game right from the start (throw themselves in front of the killer, or intentionally body block you, abuse perks against you,.. etc.) My previous answer is based on this case.

  • Look at it positively. You usually only have to spend 15 minutes of your life with such people. But this person has to come to terms with themselves throughout their entire life.

There's nothing you can do about it. In Dead by Daylight you will encounter this behavior more often than perhaps in other games. Maybe try playing another game? Civilization 6 f.e.

  • Removing the DC penalty would essentially turn the game into PvE in a matter of weeks.

There is also no option on the PC side to prevent getting into a lobby with the same players again.
The only thing you can block is a person sending you friend requests and that's it.

1 … 4 5 6 7 8 … 11
