Oh, 100%—‘player accessibility’ is definitely prioritized… right above nothing and the void. But hey, at least it’s higher than the anti-cheat, which seems to be the abstract concept they're still working on in theory, as you said. We’ve had how many cheaters running rampant, while the devs are still busy ‘theorizing’ how to stop them? Meanwhile, accessibility changes get a half-baked update every six months, and the rest of the players are left to wonder if the devs even know how to balance the game for actual users. You’d think they’d be focused on making the game actually playable for everyone, not just tweaking perks for the 5% of players who don’t need them. Guess we’ll see when they theorize a real anti-cheat system… in 2027.

Exactly. At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if the devs are just waiting for cheaters to burn out naturally, like a seasonal allergy.

Meanwhile, accessibility changes roll out with the same urgency as a Windows XP update – unless you're a cheater, in which case everything still runs in real time.

Theoretical anticheat research must be exhausting. Maybe they'll publish a paper before 2027.

  • @Ace_Main said:

They just shown to us that player accessibility is the lowest priority on their list.

“Player accessibility is the lowest priority”?

    That’s generous.
It still ranks above anticheat – which, by the look of things, is currently being developed exclusively in theory.

  • "We’re cracking down on cheaters" – a phrase so recycled, it should come with a green label.
The real punchline? Dead by Daylight is a PvP game from 2016 that still trusts the client more than most people trust their ex. No server-side validation. In 2025!

Meanwhile, visual parity is a joke, filter-based advantages are shrugged off, and cheat tools get version updates more reliably than the game does.

If anticheat is on the roadmap, they might want to stop driving in circles.

As someone who works in IT and has done some stuff with security, I can 100% tell you that the fact that you think it doesnt work, while not being invested with cheaters every single match actually proves it works. Just look at CS2, you literally could not go a single match without 1 person having cheats. They didnt even get banned, because Valve updated the anti-cheat in 2020 and left it at that.

You dont need to do anything but report in-game. In most cases, anti-cheat has already put a million red flags on that player and that player is doomed to be banned. In most other cases, it's a new cheat that currently bypasses the system and it will require tweaking to anti-cheat to detect those things.

In theory, BHVR can 100% ban all cheaters automatically, the problem there is, that 20% of non-cheating players will also get banned. Its because BHVR wants to ban as close to 0 non-cheating players as possible that there are still cheaters. But if anti-cheat didnt work, your average match would contain a cheater. Not 1 every 25 matches.

While I appreciate your perspective and your background in IT, I believe it's important to differentiate between theoretical anti-cheat efficacy and what players demonstrably experience in practice.

From a systems design perspective - particularly in real-time, client-authoritative environments - trusting the client without robust validation is a known architectural weakness. Once that trust is exploited through memory injection, packet spoofing or desync manipulation, server-side checks become non-negotiable. And yet, in DBD, the server seems to accept manipulated input without hesitation.

The idea that “the system works silently in the background” might sound reassuring - but it doesn’t align with what many players encounter: repeated exposure to blatant and subtle cheats, vague or absent feedback after reporting, and a near-total absence of transparency. If flags are truly being triggered, they don’t seem to result in timely or visible action. That creates an environment where the perception of impunity is stronger than any reassurance the system might hope to deliver.

I understand that no anti-cheat is perfect and that avoiding false positives is important. But when that caution results in a system that feels unresponsive, the effect isn’t "precision" - it’s stagnation. A system that rarely bans the wrong player but consistently fails to act on the right ones is functionally indistinct from a broken one.

In short: what should work - and what does work - are two very different things. And the wider the gap, the more it undermines trust.

  • Ah yes, the player-powered anti-cheat system™.
A revolutionary concept where the burden of proof lies entirely with the victim — provided they’ve anticipated the crime, run third-party recording software at all times, trimmed the footage, uploaded it, written a thesis on it, and submitted it in triplicate.

Meanwhile, the actual cheaters? Swift, nimble, and delightfully unburdened by such bureaucracy.

    It’s not a lack of anti-cheat — it’s performance art.
A minimalist statement on futility, where trust is outsourced and justice is crowdsourced.

And somehow, the real punchline is that this system’s been “working as intended” for years (released 2016 btw).

  • DBD’s anti-cheat is a modern miracle: somehow always running, yet never present when it matters.
Crashes, freezes, scripted exploits, invisible lags – and yet, it’s the victims who get matchmaking penalties.

At this point it’s less a protection system and more a spectator, quietly applauding from the sidelines.

Might be time to patch the foundations instead of the cosmetics.

Yeah I guess Sony hired him for quality assurances. I should have known.

That was a Nea prototype from NVIDIA’s black-site lab. Crouch-spamming at Mach 1000 to benchmark console thermal limits.

She didn’t teabag. She performed a diagnostic.

  • That’s not a cheater. That’s a certified Unreal Engine 5 stress test technician.
Your PS5 just couldn’t handle the feature preview.

  • Definitely not an isolated case – it’s happening to a lot of people.
Getting hit with a disconnect penalty after being force-crashed, and having no way to report the offender, is a loophole big enough to drive a school bus through.

    But hey…

If you can crash someone’s client, dodge post-game reports, use throwaway Epic accounts, and still roam free, then honestly?

    Dead by Daylight’s anti-cheat isn’t weak.
    It’s experimental art.

It’s the first known system where the cheater feels safer than the player.

  • It's important to note that free or easily accessible accounts aren’t inherently the problem — plenty of other games like League of Legends and Valorant offer unlimited account creation too, but they don’t suffer from the same overwhelming cheater issues.

The real issue lies in how Dead by Daylight handles cheat detection and enforcement. Without proper behavioral analysis, active in-game monitoring, or meaningful deterrents, even a paid account system wouldn't stop cheaters — it would just slow them down.

A strong anti-cheat system makes free accounts irrelevant to the discussion. If the protection is solid, sock accounts are just wasted effort for cheaters. If the protection is weak, even paid accounts won’t help.

So before trying to patch the surface by limiting accounts, the foundation — the actual anti-cheat infrastructure — needs serious work.

They use Easy anticheat. This product, it is awesome, it often bans me from servers I set games up on, simply the best product for inducing murderous rage from a second party vendor. Ever.

Anyways, when they get serious they can try wiping all the epic games accounts, it might help, but they'd likely need their own internal group to police balance and fairness, you know the things a game needs to be healthy.

The only thing that system protects is the illusion of control.

I trust Dead by Daylight’s anti-cheat as much as I trust a screen door on a submarine.

  • The implementation of cheat protection would solve this problem sustainably

  • This feature works as well as Anti Cheat in this game.

Months ago, I faced a cheating Nurse that flied us out of the map then she was taking us hostage permanently where she stopped the end game timer unless we DC. I reported the cheater but it took them at least a month to solve the issue so I gave up reporting them.

    Yes, it's frustrating, I know.

I was used to always reporting cheaters with video evidence and tickets. In my last three years, I've collected 20+ of these videos.

I've given up on that now, too. I don't have the time anymore to regularly open a ticket and potentially ban the cheater, which usually takes 15 minutes or more.

It's their problem, and they should address the issue if it's worth it to them.

Until this is resolved comprehensively and competently, I won't spend any more money on the game.

I had loaded into a dbd discord group match in the dbd server, i didnt know the person in the group was a hacker and he trapped everyone in the lobby. i wouldn't get banned for something I didn't know/do would I?

It's a completely manual process, bans are usually issued justifiably.

However, there have also been unjustified bans in the past (e.g., cheaters using known Twitch IDs).
In most cases this does not happen but I cannot give a complete all-clear here either.

Overall, this cheatert/hacker issue is handled rather unprofessionally in this game.

  • Good luck with the ticket. It usually takes longer for you to file a report than it takes for the cheaters to get a new account.
    #nocheatprotection

  • I know I will probably get some hate for the following sidenote but In my experience, and I've put in many hours of this game(4k+), I have to say that the average console player gives up more often and more quickly than the average PC player.

Of course, each situation differs from the next, but there's a clear trend.

It's true, there are just soooooooooooooooooooo many cheater in dbd its just insane. Subtle hack are out of control and if you play long enough you see it.

The difference against a normal player and subtle cheats is day and night, and its killing the game. But holy ######### it's bad

There's no real protection against cheaters in DBD. I took a two-month break from the game, what was really refreshing btw, and started playing again since yesterday, and I've already encountered three obvious cheaters.

I don't think there are any real plans to address this (with automatic protection) as more bans will lead to a drop in player count.

  • there is no cheat protection in this game. you have to accept that or change the game.

Yes and no. Don't get me wrong, I don't think OP is right, but turning off crossplay doesn't just make it so you can only play with people on the same platform. For some reason, you can only match with people on the same platform who also have crossplay turned off.

In plain language, it was simply implemented sloppily, let's not beat around the bush.

Feng skins have priority, there are enough people who don't think twice and are happy to spend their money on them quickly.

Cheat protection is not available in DBD and as you can see from the new "health chapter" roadmap, it's still not a priority.

Those are the hard facts, my friends.

  • there is no cheat protection in this game and probably never will be

  • Try to take a break.

Most people don't make it but once you're away from DBD for a week you learn to appreciate the time again and what it feels like to have fun.

It's similar to League of Legends back then.

  • In summary: If you consider a Nerf gun as a lethal weapon, you can describe DBD's anticheat as protection.

  • I don't know what you're dreaming about, but dead by daylight still doesn't have server side validation.Bans happen based on a manual reporting process (ticket and evidence)

This is the sober statement and a fact.
Priority is elsewhere (skins, DLC's), topics that inc revenue

  • There is no cheat proection in DBD. So the “arms race” point is no factor at all.

Don't try to understand a cheater/hacker either. Apparently something went wrong in their RL.
In the end they only harm themselves.

  • that would turn the game into PvE in the long run, thats for sure.

If the penalty changes at all, it should be increased.

  • Because it fits the topic well:

This is a statement that was recently made to a friend in afterchat:

    Player_xyz.png

Apart from the fact that the filter failed completely, what is your personal opinion about it?
Is this a bit of venting or is it more of a personal attack?

  • There is no automatic cheat protection in the game. Only a few people who believe/claim it exists.

It is more worthwhile to believe in God than in cheat protection in DBD.

  • you have to learn to swear in Russian. They seem to be completely excluded from the filter system.
Another super useful function that was very well thought out and implemented, kappa.

  • Hey Ho again!

Here is an other one, have fun!

    https://youtu.be/UyYFSvq1iF0

Another free time in DBD, another obvious scammer. Although there are more less obvious ones in most cases at the moment,
The subtle hackers are becoming more and more common because there is literally nothing that can stop them.

However, the protection probably won't see an upgrade in the near future. After all, you can't ban 5% of the entire player base, that wouldn't be sustainable from a business perspective.

  • Well, first of all, even cheaters are not normally punished. First of all, it must be absolutely obvious and proven that cheating took place. A full manual process.

After that, if the person was convicted of cheating, it must also be verified that friends knew about it and used it for their own benefit, also with video evidence, coms, etc.

That's a lot of "ifs" and unrealistic under real-world conditions.

    In summary:
Cheaters in DBD are welcome and save if they dont make it to obvious.

  • @Atom7k said:

I don't want to insult the dev's but the fact that a player can disable the hook mechanic, clip through pallets and increase the speed he runs at to a laughable level really rises the question how that can happen without the game noticing.
I just played against a cheater who did this so extremly obvious that even other survivors were catching up on it. Of course I recorded and reported him but if bhvr is so lazy and doesn't enable mac bans then this little noob will just buy another Epic account for 1 $ and keeps cheating.

The only thing worse then an obvious cheater is a subtile cheater. Vaulting 5 % faster, running 3 % faster, hitbox 10 % smaller, exhaustion 10 % faster recovered, blind 0.5 seconds longer, stun longer, gen 10 % faster, wallhacks.
They not only are still skilless noobs but it also makes you as the killer really question your skills, your ping, the game, god and the base mechanics. Subtile cheaters are a daily thing in dbd and it is beyond frustrating.

As mentioned already, there is currently no server-side validation in DBD, and that's after 8 years.

I always find it very amusing when something is written about an "arms race" between cheaters and developers, it's always easy to categorize these people based on that comment.

The fact is, even if it is claimed that it is a priority and that work is being done on it, the status clearly shows that it is not so. Cheaters are not becoming fewer, they are simply becoming more subtle because there is no automatic protection.

Personally, I won't invest money in the game again until something is finally done about this topic, that's a dealbreaker for me.

This isn't a bug report, I have reported her bugs for over a year, I have made thousands of posts, sent thousands of mails, yet NOTHING. This is unacceptable, her bugs are horrible and it's not normal that it's been in the game for over a YEAR.

Firstly, her fov has been reduced, making the hand super close to the screen… secondly, her first fatigue is 2.8 seconds instead of 2 seconds. Thirdly, her hitting animation isn't correct. Furthermore, her hands DON'T MOVE, you blink and she does a quick frame of one second, it isn't as smooth as before. The reason behind these bugs is probably when DbD started working on the FOV slider, meaning they ######### the code up and ended up ######### the nurse up… why is this not talked enough ? Her fov and fatigue make some people want to vomit, this is not normal, why is nothing CHANGING ??? (im super mad so im writing this cuz my bug reports keep being deleted)

This is unacceptable, I've made thousands of mails and posts, why were they all "ignored"?? why do they fix minor bugs which NOBODY even asked to fix, Nurse's bugs make SOME people want to VOMIT, it's major, I am super pissed, waiting for over a year just for nothing, smh

I hope you haven't spent any money on the game since then.

Otherwise it would be quite ridiculous ngl.

Nobody should fear them or fear being silenced. ######### that.

Great, then you'll just be banned.

Don't get me wrong, it's basically ok to speak up against...

However, if you invest real money in this at the same time, you have to be aware that you yourself are part of the problem.

And this gamer type is very common these days, much to the advantage of the gaming industry.

  • It's bad to read something like that but unfortunately there are several areas that happen like that here.

In summary, you should simply not spend any money on the game in any way, because if you do, you are continuing to support it.

wait seriously? they never fixed that? how the hell does sony allow it but not microsoft?

    jesucristo

It's the same with cross play.

If you deactivate cross play you are in a completely different player pool and can never be matched with players who have cross play on, even if they share the same platform.

Unfortunately, it's implemented poorly, which unfortunately affects a lot of things in the game.

  • use the lost time after your bleed out and invest some $ in the in game shop.

I heard you feel much better afterwards. also seems to be very popular in this game.

  • @Mr_K said:

You are talking about two different things. Seeing the killer tip would imply direct manipulation of the game files.

Just report them an let bhvr sort them out.

    is it even bannable?

I think the EAC certainly covers such in-game file manipulation if it exists. So if they have been playing like this for ages it will probably be allowed. and I think that it's not just this streamer and his swf buddies who use it.

  • You can still report cheaters who are using anon mode

You have to. To this day there is no automatic protection. It is a completely manual process.

I usually encounter trolls and cheaters in survival

Yes, most cheaters are found on the survivor side, but that's probably because it's easier to hide cheats on the killer side (fewer enemy aura reading perks)

The cheat topic is censored and avoided as best as possible. Bad press about it affects sales in various categories, a bit childish behavior, but also a bit funny.

  • it should be unified. whatever option, but unified.

Everyone's profile open or everyone's profile anon. preferably the 2nd option.

  • In my opinion also the worst map, really unpleasant to look at.

Even if the loops are not particularly well thought out, at least a revision of the color design would be appropriate.

  • I've been playing the game since 2018, have now accumulated 4,000 hours in the game and have never had a problem with the DC penalty.

I really wonder what some people are doing wrong here. Maybe try another game? Civilization?

Or just take a look at the shop and buy a few skins, seems to be a big thing in DBD and works well.. lmfao :D

  • With a leave you ruin the gaming experience for the remaining players.

Whether it is wanted or not wanted. Unfortunately, this is something that is very difficult for the average gamer to understand, especially in this game, but that's okay.

Let me explain it with a simple example.

You're driving your car and your tank empties. Now you're standing on the road and can't move on, nor can the 4 cars behind you. It is your responsibility to check your tank before you start your journey. It is your responsibility to check your WiFi/internet connection before accessing the internet.

Parents' lesson over, you are welcome.

  • @NewChuckyAddons said:

The amount of cheaters and hackers I've encountered in game proves that standalone eac is useless because its easily bypassed

I just encountered a Claudette jumping and flying and no clipping and a Trickster with Aimbot who instantly downed all 4 survivors through walls and a spirit who instantly downed and hooked all 4 survivors straight away proves that eac by itself isn't working that great

I think its time to get battle eye alongside eac and for better over lay detection for ESPs etc

You are right with your points. In DBD, cheat protection is virtually non-existent.

I always have to smile when something about poor race etc. is written, because you notice that there is a huge lack of real knowledge.

The game does not yet have basic server validation. Unfortunately, when you hear the term, many people mentally disengage, which is okay, you can't know everything.

With a little server validation, problems such as "instant kill bots", which trap survivors in the basement and hang them up within the first few minutes, or absolutely unrealistic positions (flying character) and impossible movement speed could be fixed. But it doesn't exist, period.

The reporting process is a fully manual process. Video/photo evidence is required where it is clear that the player has cheated and is required to obtain a possible ban.

Subtle cheaters are becoming more and more common for self-explanatory reasons.
That's the status in 2024, unfortunately that's how it is.

  • I mean, this sounds stupid but I'm glad it's happening and I hope it gets worse.

The topic has really been neglected for a long time and I always have to laugh when something is written about "arm races" between cheaters and developers.

As of Dec24, there isn't even a basic server validation that would make it a little thing to fix such blatant things, so much for the "arm race".

  • In the meantime, Consumer 10,752: Buy 2 new Feng skins -> BHVR priority adjusted
