I am actually not asking for a counter to Adrenalin, I just want a kinda similar experience for the survivors.

So a small Terminus buff in the form of a short movement speed bonus for the killer when it activates.

  • Hackers are common in DBD!

There used to be more obvious hackers, nowadays they are much more subtle and try to hide their hacks.

According to the BHVR, more than 60,000 accounts were banned in 2022 alone.

This is an impressive and outstanding achievement.

However, it must also be said that the reporting system is very time-consuming and cumbersome. On average, it takes more than 20 minutes to create a complete report (incl. ticket and video proof). A good automated cheat protection would be much more pleasant and better for the end customer.

However, that would also be safer and would give the cheater/hacker fewer opportunities to use the cheats.

What one must not forget here: cheaters are also customers

Some of those 60,000 banned accounts may consider buying a new account, which costs at least 10 bucks and that sums up.

In the end, it's always about sales and profits(MONEY), and that's also the reason why you shouldn't expect any changes in this and similar topics in the near future. This is not a guess but a sad fact.

  • At the moment it is also the case that you only match with people who have also deactivated crossplay.

So if a lobby should arise where everyone would be on the same platform(CP on/off), that is another criterion. That's the reason why you only find a lobby every 30 minutes. It is implemented somewhat sloppily.

  • I have bad news. It is very likely that this thread will be deleted soon as it is a very sensitive subject. I agree with you but there are reasons why it is so cumbersome to make a cheat report. I can't name this because it could very likely lead to a ban.

  • BHVR is very sensitive to this topic, which requires great caution, especially here and on Reddit, and regularly results in posts being removed/deleted

  • Hackers are customers too.

I highly doubt you had that many cheaters in a row there are many of us who NEVER seen a cheater in our games.

I never had any obvious cheaters in any of my games and the amount of suspected cheaters I could count on one hand.

    lucky u

Even BVHR themself confirmed that 60k cheater were banned in 2022 alone, so yea it seems they exist somehow.

Where are the improved support tools and a better player feebdack report ?

Is this silence ever going to end ? Are we going to see something done to solve or, at least, fight back the cheating issues ?

There is no protection. If people don't make it obvious that they're cheaters, it won't be noticed.

The obvious hackers/cheaters have decreased, I've only had 4 games with OBVIOUS hackers in the last 2 months.

Yes, BHVR avoids the topic as much as possible, and there is nothing more to be seen of it in the new roadmap. To be honest, I'm a bit surprised that this thread is still alive and hasn't been closed.

This. Opsec. Never identify what you did to patch things out in terms of security, it means nothing to you as a consumer, and everything to the hackers.

There are certainly software/systems that do something against cheaters and you can let them know (Ricochet and Vanguard for example) This is real protection. EAC is a meme security.

I've seen a lot of people putting Dredge in low B tier, why? He can TP, he has solid anti loop, why would he be high B or low A? What's stopping him?

Of course, he can be stronger against new and inexperienced survivors.

Experienced players and survivors know well its weaknesses and B Tier is justified.

  • The solution would be to simply adjust the DC penalty so that it is no longer worth using this tactic.

If the penalties are increased to 5+ min, a SWF won't do it because it's not worth waiting for that DC player to then re-queue and if they do it anyway, then the next penalty will be increased to 10 minutes, which then raises the question of whether it wouldn't be better to change the game from this point on.

If you really had to serve the penalty time at the queue, even if you turned off / close the game after the last DC, there would be a lot less problems with DC's as well. I would implement that immediately.

  • If that's your only concern, run Distortion and you'll have a better time.

If you always give up directly with every challenge, you will unfortunately not get far or get better.

Ok, so lets say they made this distinction then. So now, when i want to leave the game intentionally, instead of clicking the "leave" button, i just disconnect my ethernet cable, or turn off wi-fi. So now i disconnect because my "internet" went out, but i'm actually intentionally disconnecting.

The point is, it is not possible to tell the difference between a legitimate connection issue, and someone intentionally pulling the plug.

Yes, that's probably true, although to be honest it would be really funny to imagine that there are people who pull their ethernet cable or switch off their router/PC to fake a DC.

It would hurt them both. But that means you are back in chase against S-tier. If u r extremely lucky, you could even disappear. And it's full chase reset for regular M1

But that's exactly the point of an anti tunnel perk. You only have this perk with you to protect yourself against to get tunnelled out, the perk is completely useless without being tunnelled. It should at least be able to fulfill this satisfactorily against any killer.

    @galanonim25 said:

Decisive Strike had many in my opinion healthy changes preventing certain situations that could be abused by survivors. However even tho Decisive Strike can save you from certain killers or give you at least a little bit of precious time punishing tunneling, there are some that will remain unbothered. Of course, the two main examples are nurse and blight. That's why I wanted to propose a certain solution that would be a negative status effect on a killer. I made this status effect for one of my killer concepts and probably something same or similar could be made by somebody else. I called it the Amnesia status effect.

Amnesia status effect would work that way: When a killer is under that status effect he can't use his abilities ( Power and Special abilities ). It doesn't stop the ability that is already in use ( like Bubba chainsaw ) and this also doesn't disable killer abilities he already used or placed ( like trapper traps).

I think 5 seconds of Amnesia status effect for a killer hit by Decisive Strike at the third level of that perk would be pretty reasonable.

I'm eager to hear your opinion and your personal balance adjustments to that case.

I really think this is a tremendously good idea as it's no worse for killers who are weaker in the chase than before and killers who have good chase power take away that advantage.

But I think that it is unfortunately very difficult for these developers to introduce a new status effect. There are topics that are less complex and have caused difficulties.

Among other things, I think that killers should be rewarded more if they decide against tunneling, e.g. after hanging a fresh survivor with a small additional regress buff for the next Gen regression action. Unfortunately, tunneling is still the best strategy for most people to win the game and unfortunately also the basis for the highest killer streaks.

Its not possible to "tell the difference" between an intentional DC and an unintentional one due to internet. I'd argue that it doesn't matter either, because both still ruin the game for everyone involved. And if your internet is not stable that is up to you to figure out and stablize.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3422672#Comment_3422672

This is the correct answer. The best solution is to allow people to reconnect to the game and make them be replaced by a bot. And then when you DC you are unable to start a new game until the old game is over (even if your bot dies) as punishment (or after a short time limit, lets say 10 minutes, in case its due to someone holding the game hostage).

So you think it would be easier for the developers to replace a player who had a DC with a bot and if this player should then be interested in returning to the game, replace the created bot in order to actively participate in the game again..

    .. THAN ..

..the distinction whether the DC'd player had previously pressed the "Leave Match" button?

Of course that would be amazing :D

I have been running this combo for a long while and never had issues.

I really think it's the timing.

When you were unhooked there is a very brief moment where OTR was still triggering shortly after that the last generator went on while you were still in the process of unhooking -> OTR was disabled and adrenalin was not triggered.

I think it was just a couple of circumstances with unfortunate timing that will be hard for the Dev-Team to fix. As you said yourself, this has only happened once so far.

  • That's really strange.

My guess is that it has something to do with OTR. This will be deactivated when the last generator has been finalized. At the same moment that the unhook happened, it was still active very shortly before. Maybe adrenaline was deactivated for some reason too, I don't know the exact code in the background, but it also has to do with an extra hit/health state (OTR / adrenaline).

  • @Meathammer said:

I'm sorry for the teabagging, but as a lone survivor, I have to do it. If you don't chase me, my team won't last long if you chase them instead of me, so I have to keep you occupied while they work on the generators.

Studies have shown that 62% of tea bagging survivors will DC within the first few minutes when being taken down by a competent killer or the game doesn't go according to their plan.

  • I don't know about you guys but both as a killer and a survivor I enjoy the chase the most by far, I really enjoy a good chase.

Where I see the problem isn't really the exhaustion perks, it's the time it takes for survivors to repair a generator, especially when Toolboxes, Prove Thyself, or BNP come along.

Generators are done so quickly that even a medium chase of just over a minute is enough to complete 1-2 gens.

I don't think the most fun aspect should be nerfed any more what makes the game, but that's just my opinion on it.

  • Sorry but this is a bit ridiculous now. Yes, exhaustion perks are there to give the survivor some distance and can be very powerful when used correctly, but there are many ways to counter them (addons, fearmongers, blood echo,...)

But in principle it doesn't matter anyway if all exhaustion perks are removed from the game or not. There would still be threads after that complaining about how survivors can still walk on their feet and not crawl around like worms like they should.

  • yes, seems to be a bug.

but since there's nothing game-breaking here, it can be considered low prio.

    1. it's annoying yeah If I see this on a survivor, I go there and activate Reassurance. Then the survivor has time to think about it.
    2. Then my buddy goes there again with the perk to give him time to think.
    3. Most of the time this is when a DC happens from the hanging survivor.

The DC punishment should simply be increased here so that this survivor gets a little more time to think.

But I can also help a little: If you only have fun in this game under various circumstances, it usually makes more sense to invest your valuable lifetime in something else that gives you more pleasure.

  • You have to get used to that. Hacking/cheating is really common as there is no cheat protection in dead by daylight.

I regularly reported with the official support ticket reports + video evidence of cheaters who flew, completed 3 generators within 10 seconds of starting the game and after 1 month came across the same player account still not banned.

If you're a known Twitch streamer, there's a good chance the player will get banned. Other than that, I wish you the best of luck, but I wouldn't hope for it.

I have now stopped the reports because it usually took 30 minutes to process the video evidence, collect information and create tickets. Even if this player was banned, he would have a new account in less time.

    Sad but a fact.

Just as a measure: A faced obvious cheaters in 7 different games within the last month. So every 20th game in average for me.

    in Hacking Comment by Senaxu
  • I fully agree with you.

Tunneling or camping may seem toxic to a survivor, but it's a valid play style and in some cases necessary to stand a chance in a match. On the other hand, camping and continuously hitting the hanging Survivor or making other physical gestures does not lead to any game advantage and is therefore purely toxic.

Just like Teabagging as a survivor. It doesn't give you any strategic advantage, so it's just toxic. You could argue you want the killer's full attention so the others can work in peace, but I think 99% of the time it's just done to be as toxic as possible.

On the other hand, flashlight saves or head_on plays or various techs (vaulting tricks, etc.) are there to buy time for other players and to put themselves in a better position in the game. So I don't think it's toxic, it's okay.

  • well no cheat protection in dead by daylight. So yes its really common

DS when it was 5 seconds could be coupled with Head on, to chain stun the killer for 7 to 8 seconds.

I do not wish to see that again from bully squads.

DH is super strong still, it gives you a 3rd health state on command. The fact you used it at a bad opportunity is no reason to buff the perk, you just need to get better at using it. Yes it requires skill now. Good we don't need to see DH return to its previous usage rates.

People will always try to abuse perks when given the opportunity. Be it Head-on + DS or Overcharge + Call of brine.

Fact is the current DS is too weak. 3 seconds isn't helping in the most of the time. A nurse or blight laughs his head off and even for other killers, DS is no longer an obstacle and there is still the possibility of slugging briefly.

OtR lasts 90 sec DS only 60 sec. Both are only in the game to make tunneling less efficient, where OtR is at least partly useful.

  • @Jace233 said:

He is supposed to be a fast character in the R.E universe, but using his power just feels slower and clunkier than any other killer by far. I am not saying he needs buffs, although i think he personally does, but can you somehow just make using his m2 feel less clunky and slow? Like maybe add more charges, less cooldown afterwards, less charge time.

The grab and throw is great but i really think it could use more depth to it. He should feel like blight, not like trapper.

So I hope that was meant as a joke.

Wesker is so so easy to play. Its power feels enormously reactive (reacts instantaneously). For Blight or Killer on the same Tier (S or A) you have to do a lot more mechanically and the hitbox is also enormously tolerant.

How many hours do you have on Wesker?

What shall a Legion or the Trapper say. Basically you should expect that you have to invest a few hours of your life to reach the full potential of a killer before asking for buffs.

  • The topic has now been addressed many times, even a larger streamer "Otzdarva" already made a video about that topic 6 months ago "DBD's most infuriating mechanic" that has 300k views.

There is already a lot of discussion going on here externally and some bets on how long it will take for the issue to be addressed, but I wouldn't get my hopes up too high here.

Many, myself included, would be happy if it worked similarly to Overcharge where you would get the skill check afterwards and thus have the chance to react.

    Well we can believe :)

  • Add a useful cheat protection to the game.

Calling EAC a cheat protection is like calling a ball a vehicle.

  • Demo is fine.

Decent chase power combined with good map pressure.

But there are also some people out there calling for buffs for Wesker, which is downright hilarious :D

  • Calling EAC a cheat protection is like calling a ball a vehicle.

There is no real protection in this game. BHVR told a few months ago they will implement improved cheat protection early 2023 but it is silent about that topic again and that will not change.

Do not forget an important fact: MONEY

That's all that matters, and better cheat protection doesn't increase profits. But skins do.

    My 2 cents.

  • The discussion seems to come up again and again. It is and will remain a problem.

    The fact is:

The game is balanced for 4vs1, which is not easy. If within the first few minutes a Survivor dc's (4-5 gens left) he ruins the gaming experience for the remaining 4 players.

As drpynz has already correctly said, a DC seems to happen more frequently in the first few minutes since the patch than before. The penalties for the first DC from the current game should be tightened, in my opinion.

  • You can be toxic all you want as long as you don't get very personal with death threats. In the same way, you can basically use any cheat you want, as long as you are not reported or do not make it obvious, nothing can happen to you. Here the game is very tolerant

  • There was once talk from official BHVR that at the beginning of 2023 the cheater/hacker problem would finally be addressed and revised. Some people will now say "I've been playing the game for 6 years / 10,000 hours and have only seen two cheaters", but even the official figures say otherwise (64,000 banned in 2022 alone). How many have not been banned for being subtly hacking?

This problem really needs to be addressed, even if the number of players will then take a serious hit, because then some of the players who have made it through will definitely also be banned.

I'm still waiting here for the promise of BHVR to be fulfilled and for this protection to become useful at some point.

That said, progress is being made in the (Killer/Survivor) balance.

  • I can confirm that.

It happens on the other Backwater Swamp map (Grim Pantry) if you also teleport to the locker on the top floor of the main building near a window. This realm map must also be considered.

  • Hookgrabs are totally fine for me.

However, facecamping(close to hook 60sec +) should be less efficient because it doesn't require a lot of skill and therefore if a killer prefers this way of play it should be considered accordingly that no ranking points(pips) are awarded and in category Chase the points get a heavier penalty similar to unsafe unhooks for survivors.

  • Unfortunately, this is the wrong way to address the problem.

According to official numbers from BHVR, 64,000 cheaters were banned in 2022 alone. That's a number. However, the ease of cheating will not change in the future if no automated and usable protection is developed for the game.

While it's nice to be able to easily do change various colors in the game, set own defined perk images , FPS unlocks etc. in the game and that's still fine in my opinion. But it's also just as easy to display auras of survivors/killers illegally or to give yourself a short speed boost if necessary.

I think the approach of simply being able to leave the game without a penalty is wrong, because it will lead to other problems and be exploited.

It would be more important to tackle the actual problem, because I don't feel like writing a comprehensive report every time I meet an obvious cheater, then opening a ticket on the homepage and uploading screenshots, videos, etc. just so that this player can then possibly be removed from the Game (which you never find out anyway) and thus invested 30min+ of my time to possibly make the game better. This cheater may even take less time to simply create/buy a new account than it takes for the actual cheat report. And THAT is a problem.

  • @Beatricks said:

It doesn't matter how much you want to force someone to spend 20 minutes on a match they have absolutely no chance of winning, you won't succeed. There's always running at the killer, spamming lockers and if all else fails, there's alt tab that will solve all your worries. I understand how frustrating it is, especially in SoloQ. But with the DDOS...I mean random crashes running rampant, hackers flooding the servers, the game spaghetti code genuinely crashing people to desktop who actually want to play the game, the DC penalty is hurting more than it helps.

People always say that when DC penalties are off the game is unplayable, but I never have quite as much fun when I can just literally check out of a 10k Blight clubbing on SoloQ babyseals. If BHVR made the game less #########, people would actually want to play. Solve the issue, not the symptom.

If a game lasts longer than 30 minutes, the penalty should be removed, only a very small proportion of games last that long.

Also remove the DC penalty for players who leave the match after the first DC has occurred.

    Overwatch :

    Small team sizes, check.

    Refill during casual matches, check.

Leaver penalty in non casual matches check.

    Cod:

Small team sizes, not the last time I played. Ergo individual DC less impactful.

    + Refill during casual

    Battlefield:

Even bigger team sizes making DC even more neglectable.

    + Refill during casual

    Apex/Fortnite:

Mostly free for all battle royal with separat solo/duo or team queue. Ergo less potential of teammates DCing when going in team and DC in solo are completely irrelevant since everybody else is also solo/duo.

All your examples are inadequate to compare to DBD since they all have measures to lessen the impact of DCs (refill) or the impact is already close to nonexistent (CoD, Battlefield). And the free for all battle royal Genre is the worst to compare DBD with to begin with, in my eyes.

Other examples of games i have played where DCs either have alternative measures in place or straight up get punished even in casual queue:

    Rainbow six siege:

    Team size small, check.

    Refill in casual, check.

    Penalty in ranked, check.

    Rocket league:

    Small team size, check.

Refill in casual, check. + Bots!

    Penalty in ranked, check.

    League of Legends:

    Small team size, check.

Refill in casual, nope. Straight up multiple 5/15 minute matchmaking timeouts.

    Penalty in ranked, check.

So DBD remains one of if not the only popular/big pvp game without any measure against DC or to lessen their impact. And therefore needs the DC penalty for casual games like league of legends.

There you have it, straight to the point. Thank you for all the details.

Now that we're further along, let's discuss the next steps. e.g. the duration. 1st DC 5min, 2 DC 15min and from the 3 DC 25min + you have to serve the penalty in the active queue, if canceled it resets it until it is fully served (even after several days)

  • I would like it if playstyles that are fair and fun were rewarded more. At the moment, if you tunnel out a survivor as a killer, you have the highest chance of winning. As a result, this survivor who is being tunneled out has absolutely no fun and I, as a killer, actually don't enjoy having to tunnel out this one survivor to have a chance.

Therefore, the idea would be if a survivor is hung up twice in a row, he simply gets a bonus time that he can hang on the hook (e.g. +30 sec, almost an extra ressurance). On the other hand, if another survivor is hung up, the killer gets a buff that gives him e.g next gen regress perk extra % extra (e.g. 5% extra on pop, pain res, eruption, duration of next deadlock proc etc.) and if the next survivor is another survivor it's 6% and so on.

I know these are strange values and a lot would have to be adjusted, but on the whole it should be rewarded for both sides if a fair playstyle is pursued.

But that's just my subjective opinion, so nobody should feel offended here.

  • I would find it good if as a survivor you had to collect something at the start of the game before you can start with repairing the gens.

Just something small that only lasts about 30 seconds, like One-time gathering of fuel for generators, blueprints for the generators, or simply removing dust from the generator before you can start repairing it.

  • The old strong Billy

5 Sec DS, however still deactivates at endgame

    old spine chill

Strong ruin and pop, killers need some love (saying that as main surv)

old Coldwind Farm and Autohaven maps if they only stay for Halloween each year would be nice.

I don't have a proper ability to play with my friends rn so I moved to the solo q and it's...awful. 1 in 3 games one of my solo q teammates just DCs or kills themselves on hook just because they went down too quickly. Same goes to the games as a killer.

DC penalties need to stay and BHVR needs to do smth with deaths on hook and think of possible ways to make a game easier for the remaining players. It sucks when you just waste your time (which I don't have enough, please let me play a bit after my shift) because some soft crybaby suddenly doesn't feel like playing.

That's right. Just because a match offers less fun because of a certain map/killer/perks or you get downed within the first 3 minutes and things don't go as expected shouldn't justify to DC that match.

It should be punished. Penalties should remain and even be increased.

If you only enjoy the game under certain conditions, you should simply change that game, which this type of player probably does regularly anyway.

It's a multiplayer game and many people don't want to go through a match for many reasons, whether that'd be the map or the killer or the teammates, or maybe they get into a server with 200 ping for no good reason, or they want to do a challenge but know it'd be impossible in that match, and they don't want to waste their time, etc.

Most other games don't punish you for leaving, unless it's a competitive match, tournament or event. Since there isn't an official competitive mode in DBD, it doesn't make sense to ban someone for leaving a casual match.

Yeah, sure you can give up on hook, but isn't that like DCing except it takes a bit longer?

You also get the annoying teammates who will drop everything and even get downed, just to hold you in the match and save you while you're trying to give up on hook. And then woah, you're still in the match you want to leave because another survivor decided it to be that way and woah you need to waste even more of your time even get frustrated. Oh, and now the killer won't want to hit and kill you because how dare you not want to go through a match in a multiplayer game. Bonkers!

The options to leave are not great and I understand that some people would abuse it if there is 0 penalty, but if there has to be a penalty it should be for X amount of times you DC in an X time period.

If you don't like that people are leaving, perhaps coop games are better for you. You can't control random people in a multiplayer game. If you feel that your matches are ruined, make the most of them and move on, or leave too and move on.

Something I don't understand is why the Devs removed the compensation players would get when someone DCed. Back in the day, if someone left at 5 gens, the gen amount the rest needed to do was 4 or 3. I fail to remember. I know it was 1 gen if you're the last one. So for example, if 2 people leave at 5 gens, the gen amount that would need to be done by the rest to power the exit gates changed to 2 or 3. That gave a bit of hope to the rest of the players in the match to win. I don't know why it was removed

    It's not a ban, it's a time penalty, that's an important difference.

"If you don't like that people are leaving, perhaps coop games are better for you"

I totally agree. If you want to do any challenges or tomb achievements, then you should consider doing them in a coop game (swf), because the chances of success are better here.

This was before the endgame mechanics were added. At that time, matches where only 3 survivors were connected to the game were finished and not canceled immediately. Therefore, the number of generators was adjusted accordingly. Ongoing adjustment of generators etc. during gameplay if a player DC'd never existed.

For me DC penalites should never be higher than 5 mins.

Honestly no one DC for fun. When you DC you lose your items, offerings, BPs.

For example, you play against a killer who just slugs everyone, letting survivors bleeding to death, where is the fun as survivor? why are you forced to crawl during 5 mins, for a spit of BPs?

Same goes for a Killer who play against survivor who are better and just tbag him, why is he forced to play?

A game must be fun, what is the point to force players to play with someone who doesn't share the same fun? Maybe some players love to crawl for five minutes straight, but please don't force those who dont. Just let them give uo the game and fin another game where they can enjoy the game.

Just imagine if every player had a list of killers they wanted to play against and another list with they don't want to play against. If there is a killer in the match you don't want to play against -> DC

If everyone did that, how many matches would be played without a dc?

Sometimes it's a bit ridiculous what you read here from some people. Compare COD or Apex to Dead by Daylight where there is an automatic lobby refill at all times should a player leave their team, amazing.

If a killer is slagging, tunnels, camping, 3 gens or just cheats then it's a different problem and should be addressed elsewhere but to DC just because you're not having fun at that moment and thus destroying the gaming experience for the remaining 4 players is easy just stupid sorry.

It would be better to look for another game if you don't agree with most of the game anyway.

  • I think we live in a time with a technology where one could distinguish between a ragequit (intended DC) and a timeout.

    Apart from that.

In any case, there should be penalties for leaving a running game, since as mentioned here, it ruins the game experience for the remaining 4 players (assuming the killer is in a mentally stable state, of course).

In other games like League of Legends the first penalty starts at 5min. After several DC's it increases to 25 minutes and then you even have to actively wait in the queue for the 25 minutes. That means if you stop playing afterwards and play again in 2 days, for example, then you still have to be in the queue for 25 minutes before you get to a lobby. It's a good system and I think it's the right approach.

Now, of course, the argument could come up: And what if you get a cheater in the game, there are quite a few of them.

That's right, that's another problem that shouldn't exist, BHVR must be more behind it. I also like the approach of being able to leave the game after a certain time or after the first player is DC'd without penalty.

  • To be honest, overall the Dredge feels pretty good as it is now. There are killers that are more in need of an overhaul.

However, I see the problem with Dredge that the locker placement is very different from map to map and that affects the performance a lot. It is also a bit strange that if there are 2 lockers next to each other, you always are forced to port to the locked one. It also takes a very long time to leave the locked closet without an addon (5 seconds I think).

The active "the gloaming" has a movement speed of 92% of a survivor, i.e. slower than a nurse. That's why you can only use it to a very limited extent for small loops.

All in all, i think these are small things and you have to be careful how you change something, it has to remain fair for both sides. Personally for the dredge I would wish if at least the time you can stay in a locker before the warning sound comes would be increased from 8 sec to 12 sec, because in this case you could proceed a bit more tactically.
