The old one made it so if you were injured and used it, an insta down would still down you. Basically denying you your heal. This version can be used against any insta down attack.
So it's better in extremely situational cases that almost never happen?
Gotcha. So it's just much worse overall.

Previously, it would heal you a health state which could quickly be taken away with an instadown. Now, it prevents any kind of downs for those 15 seconds.
But if you are injured, any hit would instadown you anyway, so it's really not good against "instadowns" in particular.
The new version is really quite lame and very situational in comparison to the old version.

You need to be injured to use it. And it's far from useless.
OK, so on what situations it is not useless?
First of all, you can't use it for instadowns, if you are healthy.
Second of all, it only gives you a 15 seconds grace, you basically PREDICT you are going to get downed during those 15 seconds.
It's only good on far out situations where, like, you get unhooked in the basement and you know you have nowhere to run.
So please do tell me, how is it far from useless?
You can no longer effectively use it on other people, since you know, they have to be standing still and if the killer is around, the chances a random dude will just stand still is like... non existent.
I mean really, please do tell me how to make good use of it?

For both new Syptic Agent and Needle you have to be injured in order to heal yourself and use M2 (Or R1 on controllers)
Huh? It's space for me.

Wait

I think none of the old instaheals could be used against instadowns. So the purple one basically remaines the same in chases and is actually better against plague.
Wait, did you read my post?
I am talking about the new Septic purple thing, which gives you borrowed time.
Can I use it on myself when I'm healthy to prevent instadown, or not and it works the same as now - i.e. I need to be injured to use it, and then its like mostly useless?

On smaller maps with M1 Killers this perks is pretty nice. But it needs a buff. I like the suggestions of the OP :)
- Trigger on any down/interruption
- no cooldown
- if POP is active (timer is running) while someone gets downed, Surge will apply both regression attributes
these would my suggestions :)
Agree with your suggestions and OP's.
I tried running the perk, it feels lackluster and doesn't do the job. Felt less than mediocre.

What's with the giant rant? All I literally did was show you that dedicated servers, are in fact, not working as well as you're claiming they are definitely not working 99% of the time for me. Please explain to me how this is me going "whaa whaa", how this is me acting like a spoiled brat when all I did was show you video evidence that dedicated servers aren't the butterflies and rainbows for everyone as you are preaching, and that there's valid criticisms about them being turned off until they're cooked in the oven for a bit longer?
I think you are the one who needs a reality check. While at it, why don't you keep a leash on that attitude? You should also stop trying to strawman the actual issue that I showed. It doesn't matter if he could have swung and hit the Feng. The problem is that it happened in the first place.
I know for a fact it's not my net, unless this other survivor and the killer just had happened to have DCed at the exact same moment I did all at once?
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/007/X9I86D7ZB5ER.png
Even when I do get to play a match that doesn't kick me or other people out, lag is easily present, even when it's on an alleged 50 ping, it can feel like 200 or even 300 ping as far as interaction goes between the survivor and the killer, because the survivor and the killer are no longer connected directly to each other.
Other people can attest to this. There's dozens of videos showing how bad the servers are for some people -- least of which, when playing killer. I simply only showed you one of them.
Nothing what I am saying is me saying "peer 2 peer is better, dedicated servers suck". I'm saying that the server clearly need more time in the oven, because they're still terribly broken for a lot of people and they're so bad that lots of people don't even want to play the game or even worse, they essentially cannot play.
You know when you buy a game and it says "Online Experience Might Vary"?
Well, if you did buy boxes of games in the past, you would read something that should be well too obvious for people by now but you seem to fail to understand - playing online changes the experience, usually for the "worse". So OBVIOUSLY when you are a killer and you play through a server and not when you are the host, there going to be the occasional lag spike or internet mishap. Just like it happened on P2P.
I mean, complaining about a random internet hiccup is just clueless and purposeless. It's not really a bug. It's expected. It happened with P2P as well in case you are so conveniently forgetting.
So the random occasional lag spikes are not only far less worse than how it was on P2P, it's just plain silly to present them as stuff that "need to hold back dedicated servers". That is all.

No, they need to fix some bugs first before applying this on live build. Ever tried playing Nurse or Huntress? So many bugs. Sometimes I'm stucked in place and can't move anymore. This is nothing the devs need to test on live build. They can test and fix that internally or in a PTB.
Yes, I played as AND against Nurse and as Huntress. And I play with 80-90 ping mind you on european servers. It works very well. As far as I can tell, there is nothing major they need to fix.
There are no bugs that needs fixing that needs to take out the dedicated servers. Sorry buddy.

Yeah, definitely nothing wrong with them.
https://www.twitch.tv/otzdarva/clip/VibrantViscousFennelGivePLZ?filter=clips&range=24hr&sort=time
I'd like to be able to play the game without being booted in 1/4th of my games for no reason despite my internet being perfectly fine.
Not saying it's not a lag hiccup, but JUST SAYING he could have hit her there before she teleported, and he chose to wait for his fail reason to do so.
I'm sure you would whaa whaa anyway but still.
And that might be a bug / lag hiccup, but it happens so rarely - it happens without dedicated servers MUCH more often. MUCH, MUCH more often.
99% of games are going so smoothly which is nothing like what P2P had.
You are being a spoiled brat who can't acknowledge the fact that dedicated servers does NOT mean its going to work perfectly all the time. It will NOT. You have to do a reality check with yourself.
However, dedicated servers are a HUGE improvement over P2P, all around. Me and no one else saying they are perfect. It does not mean by any way P2P was better, because it was not.
Some people are just too spoiled and can't appreciate good things, for real.
I acknowledge that there are some people who have issues and I don't. That is fine, and that needs to be fixed.
BUT! I'm playing on European servers, with 80-90 ping, and it works AWESOME. There is NO reason to revert back to P2P for the european region. ZERO reason. If you have problems, then either its your end, or you need to try to work it up with their technical department to understand what and where goes wrong for YOU and how it can be improved.

They are working splendidly. Hopefully they will stay forever this time.

yeah, it is, but theres also a lot of bad, and some mixed. if it was overwhelmingly positive, then i'd agree with you, but its not, so the servers should be delayed
Well I don't deny that there are many reports of bad experience but... I really think the pros outweigh the cons.

the general consensus of the servers test was negative, implying they are not ready yet. to release them for the few that it improved the game for but made the many have a worse playing experience, would be a big mistake and make a lot of people leave the game
I disagree that the general consensus of the servers test was negative.
I saw more positive feedback than negative, which is big considering people who would come to the forum are more likely to come to complain than come and compliment.

I know a lot of people both killer and survivor players, me included that refused to play for the rest of the dedicated servers after testing them a bit, I played a few games and got off and have not played till today since they removed the dedicated servers. if the current iteration of dedicated servers went online and was permanent then a lot of the playerbase would leave and this game would be a lobby sim with dedicated servers
Sorry, but for me and my friends - what you are saying makes zero sense. Dedicated servers took the quality of the game by several notches up. In fact, I don't feel like playing anymore in the CURRENT lobby simulator that is DbD without dedicated servers. It's a world difference for the better.
I can't tell about your experience, but my and people I played with experience was amazing and was overall so much better than the usual P2P where you join lobby 2-15 times depends on your luck and depends on your host. Such an inconsistent experience.
-
70-90 ms ping here and dedicated servers were amazing.
-
What the hell you talking about? Are you being sarcastic?
Dedicated Servers were fantastic.
I hope they bring them back as fast as possible.
-
I really can't relate to most of the people's reactions here. As a survivor it works wonderfully for me, so much better than before. Ping is constant 70-90 (I'm from Israel).
As a killer, it really barely makes any difference despite not being host. Actually, the game is just so incredibly better as a whole, I'm simply loving it. I can't relate to some people's whines here, and I hadn't experienced those bugs ppl mentioned.
People need to adapt and realize the experience will be a bit different since they are no longer host. No need to whine about those things. My killer experience was amazing with the servers.
-
Only people that complain are people with bad internet, that when they play as hosts (killers) before dedicated servers made other survivors' experience miserable!
-
I love the new dedicated servers! Seems like all the major bugs were fixed. The experience is AWESOME. Pleaseeee keep it on. People who complain are spoiled brats who cant know the difference between playing as a host than playing on a server. They will adapt eventually.
-
Haha these pics are hilarious.
Spirit looks crazy scary!!!
-
Make Ebony Mori so you can only do it if they are on their last hook. >:)
-
In my country (Israel) we have this folklore demon / killer that mostly kids are really afraid of.
It's called "Ba'alulu". It looks like a big fat demon-ish human with rags, he mostly dwells in dark basements and eats trespassing children.

Do NOT cancel dedicated servers. Do not even POSTPONE them. They are not running that bad, they are running perfectly good!
If people can't hit Huntress hatchets its because they need to git gud and adapt. They need to adapt to a bit of lag when calculating the throw, just like any other game you play with dedicated server and you are a shooter and not the host. That is all.
Sure, it needs some tweaking up and a bit of fixes here and there, but mostly it's amazing and fun and SO MUCH better than having people host the games instead of a dedicated server! It's such a huge quality of life improvement.
I can't believe people are calling to cancel dedicated servers, LOL!

@Snapshot said:
@Satsui Dude if you just play survivor and previously had ######### connection, of course it would not seem bad but if you actually want to test the servers you HAVE to play killer! Here are just SOME problems I experienced with dedicated servers:
DISCLAIMER: ALL MATCHES WERE PLAYED WITH A CONSTANT PING OF 35ms
- Nurse was very suttery and resetting like a meter back for every blink,
- Huntress had far too much lag on the hatchet (charging AND throwing / connecting)
- Plague was just utterly, completely UNPLAYABLE because of 1 second+ delay on vomit
- Myers would toggle Tier 3 on / off for like 4-5 times in 0.5 seconds and insta-mori M1 grabs did not register from time to time, resulting in lunge instead of grab
- Myers stalking desync with server (stalking bar loses like 1/10th of progress when stopping survivor stalk)
- grabs are worse than before, showing half of the animation and then cancelling and resulting in a hit
- survivors spinning in circle had very very strange movement on killer screen
- Demogorgon lunge often did not hit, although stopping directly in front of survivor at half the lunge range.. (like Billy chainsaw "ghost hits", I bet they use similar tech here)
- Sometimes hooking a survivor not possible (bar will not fill up, killer freezes in motion until survivor wiggles free)
- Clown had slight delay on bottles, although nowhere near as bad as huntress
- Billy can hit chainsaw around corner although survivor is 1 meter away on their screen
- Huntress hatchets went through multiple survivors at once and often double hit resulting in an insta-down
- From this insta-down 2 or 3 times the entire dedicated server crashed for all players
- Chases would sometimes not trigger until very close to survivor, definitely other behavior then in current live build!
Uhm. I played Demogorgon with 80-100ms ping. I played 95% of my games as a Demogorgon killer. It didn't feel grabs were that bad or the Lunge didn't work. That is odd.
I can't comment on other things though, as I haven't played Myers or Plague.
But playing many many games as Demogorgon with 80-100ms ping and I did not feel any of the stuff you mentioned in general for killers or for Demogorgon. Chases were fine. Launges were fine, grabs were fine.
So maybe those problems are for killers who are used to host games and not have the best connection in the world, or these are problems related to specific servers?

I am also curious about how dedicated servers are coming (well...not curious enough to actually download PTB). I was wondering about their stability?
I made dozens of game on PTB, on European servers, this time around and in previous PTB times dedicated servers were alive. To me, at the very least in the current PTB dedicated servers were very stable with a very good ping. Didn't have any problems at all.
That's why what the other guys said surprised me very much, especially since they didn't really bother to specify whats not good about them. Maybe those players have poor connection.
In fact, the dedicated servers experience I've had was amazing and ten times better than how the current system works.
My body is ready for dedicated servers in 3.9.2!
-
Wait what?
I played many PTB games. Why dedicated servers are far from ready? I had a really good experience with them.
What exactly is not right about dedicated servers?
-
Also, I'd like you to know I do manage to keep track of how many times I hooked each survivors on most of my games.
However, there is nothing fun in trying to memorize that information. It's tedious, doesn't add anything to the game, and makes life harder for killers that are trying to avoid tunneling and trying to promote a fun game for everyone. It's a well needed QoL change.
Your argument is clearly false in light of new stuff introduced to the game, such as displaying offerings burned, or displaying which addons you used. It's the same thing. Players shouldn't be forced to memorize those useless details every game.
I would like to hear your counter arguments for that.
-
@starpilotsix said:
First one's fine.
As for the second? Nah, keeping track of hooks, on both sides, and more importantly, losing track of them because there's a lot to keep track of, is part of the fun of the game. Make it visible and you're going to get things like survivors who haven't been hooked constantly throwing themselves in front of the killer when a survivor on the last hook is being chased (better for the team as a whole if I lose one hook rather than we all lose one teammate), survivors all leaving the game immediately (or hatch camping or locker hiding or other behaviors appropriate to the current state of the game) when the killer catches someone that they now all know is on their last hook, removing instances where they get close enough to try to make a save that turns out to be unnecessary and thus expose themselves to risk (or blood warden).
Let the game be uncertain.
Actually, it's almost never a problem for me as a survivor to keep track of my OWN hooks. That's not the point. Main point is to allow killers to see hook counter for survivors. I don't mind it would be visible for the survivors as well, but that's not the main point.
Also, I disagree with your reasoning. When I'm a survivor, a hook counter for myself is moot. I doubt anyone forgets more than almost never how many times THEY were hooked. If someone wasn't hooked, he doesn't need a hook counter to remind them they "can throw themselves at a killer". So I really can't agree with your reasons why not to implement it.
-
So far no SWF smurfs played against me. Ranking up after several months of break is just unfun. The progression is too linear, it should take into account the experience I have in the game. 1/2 pips is not enough to represent that...
-
Lol you have not read my post! :3
It takes too long to rank up as an experienced killer that has lost many ranks due to rank reset. I massacre noob survivors left and right, and its just not challenging... climbing up is just sooo boring.
-
Me and others. Also, you can use logic.
And - just because you don't, doesn't mean everyone else doesn't. The world isn't black and white. I'm not saying everyone will. -

I am playing on PC, European region but I heard it's also on most America and Asia.
What I'm suggesting would be valid to any region that is facing imbalance in the ratio of played role.
-
It's SO easy to implement, just like, put a black stripe on the killer's perk until the game is over. It's really not that complicated. Like 50% of the times I play with an end game perk like Blood Warden, some SWF will die first and tell their teammates about my end game perks. That is just stupidly wrong. SWF have enough unjust benefits in this game anyway.

They are not going to do it any time soon, sadly, so don't expect anything. It'd be too much work for their team. They have said in the past that a) they are looking into it at this stage, and nothing beyond that. b) it'd take a massive overhaul of the game coding to implement dedicated servers. Sad, sad.
whatever though.
No expectation no disappointment.I'd just like to point out that dedicated servers could fix so many problems. including cheaters and hackers.
-
Prestige 3 clown and level 6 - people refering to Ochido? lol
I think player level could very well also play a role in balance the game, no?
Shame we can't see each other's player level.... -
If it looks aggressive then it's getting it's message across well. I think it's time that the devs used their own perks and WAKE UP. I have met so many hackers and griefers lately in the recent month more than in my entire time playing DbD combined.
I tried posting Q&A questions, I tried asking on the live stream, I tried making posts before - but they simply IGNORE everything. What are we left to do then, other than trying to get attention to this problem in alternative ways?
Hell, I (and many others), legitimate concerned players, was even banned from Steam forums JUST because I posted a LINK to a VIDEO of offending players (didn't even post their details, but the details appeared in the video itself).
I think it's negligent and atrocious that any player can easily "hack" the game. This should not even be possible to begin with - game altering files should be encrypted.
-
I feel that with the influx of hackers this is more relevant than ever, so instead of reposting it I'm just gonna bump it.
I'm assuming that because everyone agree with what I wrote no1 wrote any reply...
