This lawsuit has been “about to end” for close to a year. If/when the lawsuit ends, whomever finally holds the rights will most likely take the license and make an improved stand-alone game with an established developer. Why? More money to be had that way.
What? To my knowledge there is literally nothing Sean can do if his appeal gets denied. Do you have any evidence this supposed new licence holder will choose to make an entire game with an entirely different publisher rather than DBD? Cause this seems like more of a "Thats what I think they'll do" rather than a "Thats definitely what they'll do".

He’s never coming. Don’t waste your time thinking about it.
Why? The lawsuit is about to end, his game has been dropped by the devs, and our devs literally said they want him in.

I Hate the dark tower movie. All of the dark tower books together are over 4000 pages, and they make a movie an hour and a half long that was completely unfaithful to the books. The man in black wasn't scary in the movie, he seemed extremely corny. Idris Elba was a good roland. The dark tower movie is barely about the dark tower itself as well. I hate it, and I'm excited when an actual TV show gets made to do it justice.
Thats good to know lmao.

Is...Is this a constructive FNAF discussion where people actually talk to the other instead of spamming the same tired arguments and insults? Its beautiful.

Movie licenses:
F13: 3/10. Jason is the most bland killer in horror history and the movies are boring and repetitive, a camp crystal lake map would be cool though.
IT: 9/10. The only reason it isn't a 10, is because I would rather have the dark tower or the stand. Pennywise and a sewer map would be absolutely amazing, the books and movies are amazing and instantly recognizable as well.
Candyman: 5/10. Tony Todd is a great actor, but the movie was very, very tedious to me. I like the concept of a hook handed killer, but the movie bored me too much.
Video game licenses: the only one I know is fnaf.
Fnaf: 0/10. What can I say? It's the most cheap, bland, and by the numbers horror game out there, that relies heavily on jumpscares, with a overly convoluted lore.
other:
More Stephen King licenses: 10/10. So much options, the dark tower, the shining, doctor sleep, the stand, the outsider etc. I think these could work better than IT.
SCP: 9/10. I love SCP, but some of the creatures are just dumb, like a soda can, really? Anyways, the shy guy, the old man and the plague doctor are all pretty well written and could fit into this game.
Slender: 9/10. The only "creepypasta" that seems well written and interesting. I don't know why I want him so much, but they could do so much with his power.
Slenderman always felt like one of those urban legends to me, like when you visit a certain place and you see all that folklore about creatures. His design to me was just unnerving and mysterious enough to be effective as an actual monster. They also didn't include any of that "Hyper realistic blood" crap that stuff like Sonic.exe did. Also, I'm genuinely curious here but what are your thoughts on the dark tower movie?
-
Generally no, Its not very fun. But lets say I've hooked someone and a survivor jumps into a locker with DS or Head On. I'm probably gonna wait about a half minute to keep up pressure.

Most recognisable Stephen King works fit under "movies," Slender is well known as a "game." The entire "other" section was just a weak way to shoehorn SCP in.
It really wasn´t, most of kings works are as well known as books as they are movies, So they are in other. I felt IT should get its own section and movies fit the best. Slender originated in writing, got his abilities from a web series, got popular off of games, and died because of a movie. Hence the other category.

@CalamityJane said:
I certainly think Hellraiser/Pinhead easily beats out Candyman. It's a much bigger franchise, much more recognisable, and has better potential for a power.
Stephen King also has Carrie which gets brought up every so often. People seem to want the Shining but I can't think of a more boring movie nor a less power-worthy horror villain.
SCP is not "generally well liked," it's "generally not known." It's an incredibly niche license, and has issues with licensing. Considering most of it is just a paragraph of creepypasta, the devs are better off making their own killers than paying anything for them.
I put Candyman over Hell Raiser because its been brought up far more by the community, thus making it currently the bigger licence though, It was almost put in though. Carrie is part of the other king works section. You are literally the only person Ive seen react negatively towards SCP, everyone else either has no feelings for it or is a fan of it. I also could not fine a better candidate for the third spot of its section. And I did list it not being very well known as its big down side.

I would die laughing if they ever used Slenderman--I'm an old person and I very clearly remember the SomethingAwful forums thread where he was invented. I cannot get over the fact that people take it seriously as a scary story now.
He does play on a lot of peoples fears of stuff like the uncanny valley and unknown. He is pretty silly now though.

why was the poll dude banned
Not sure, he was always pretty defensive so I could see him saying the wrong thing and getting the hammer because of it. Thats just speculation though so take it with a grain of salt.

Man, people will find a way to complain about anything that can work against them.

Jason wouldn't fit in DBD. He does his own dirty work he wouldn't just hook and let some evil spider entity do it for him
All the Entity would have to do is pretend to be Pamela like Freddy did in Freddy VS Jason.

I'm always gonna hold out hope for SCP, no matter what.

Again i'm not saying that, its just when that whole stabbing and crimes happened, I was just upset by it and scared for I thought the thing was real, when I was little I would've spent nights awake entirely thinking somethign was gonna get me, Slenderman was one of them . It something I don't want to personally bring into DBD, Its something I'm not comfortable to talk about, nowadays when I think of Slendy I don't think much but for some reason today I thought about what happened and my childhood fear of it, I'm sorry for what I've said, its just something I don't want to talk about personally.
Thats fair, sorry if I've upset you.
-
@Dabihwow said:
I don't know if they will add Slendy due to the fact a lot of controversial things and events that happened in real life, it isn't something DBD would want really. As cool as this sounds, you gotta consider that it really does effect real life people as well
Wasn't Freddy Krueger based off some real deaths? And Bubba a real killer? And a few murders by people in a Ghost Face costume were the direct result of scream? If we want any big licences we shouldn't let real world tragedies hold us back.
-
I think an F13 chapter would be amazing. I could already imagine getting chased by Jason throughout the various locations in the game.

The monsters could be people that have stayed for so long they mutated, kinda like The Blight.
Thats actually a very good idea, I might include that into one of them. Thank you. I'm trying to keep them small and memorable for the most part. Each person gets a specific monster that represents whats bothering them. I'm trying to keep that unique about it.

What if it was like a hunger games scenario? Like they have to fight each other and monsters and stuff
It actually somewhat is, depending on the problem keeping them there they may be put in any number of situations, including one where they are forced to fight others. I've written a few monsters in but i'm still trying to pin a design for them.

After people die, if they have a substantial problem in they're life (Guilt, Crime, ect.) They are stuck in a plane in between life and death, if they die in that realm they are eternally tortured, if they escape they get to enjoy whatever the afterlife has to offer.

If you want inspiration, I suggest you read the dark tower, it's the best book series I have ever read, I love it probably more than you love SCP.
Actually, after you recommended it to me a while back I put it on my list, I ordered it and should be getting it this sunday.

When will your book be released, if you have a date in mind?
Honestly have no clue, I'm trying shoot for 2023 buts thats being hopeful. I haven't even found a publisher yet.
-
As a 50/50 player watching a survivor main and a killer main fight is like watching parents have a go at the other. Someones drunk and yelling for no reason while the other is calm and not trying to start a fight, its amazing.
-
The game has given you a sign.

It’s not like the devs can not do monsters, it they were pretty adamant that it has to be humanoid monsters. So think Wolfman or Vampire. They don’t want to make something that doesn’t move similarly to what coding they already have available.
I'd be fine with that, so long as they do something unique and interesting. I feel like Demogorgon is the best example I can give for what I want.
-
All I want is to make canceling the ability take slightly longer, I don't want anything else to be touched. Imma be pretty upset if they change anything else (Though some of his later addons could use a second look).
-
It takes up 2 perk slots and still isn't as good as old ruin. Its undeniably a good combo but Carried is a bad description imo.
-
Likely Demogorgon. Place 2 portals on every hex but one. Also, I don't wanna get off topic but I would highly recommend swapping huntresses lullaby for Undying if you can. Haunted Grounds might not be a good idea either since your trying to defend hexes.
-
I think he needs a secondary ability of some kind to help with map traversal. Hes got okay chase potential and map control with bottles but those are largely outclassed by other killers. I hope Almo gives up the whole "Guys he totally just has hidden potential guys cmon you just gotta learn to play him", it only serves to piss off the community because literally no one buys it. Perhaps they could have clown take a finger off and have it buff him in some way.

Hey yall I'm SCP FOR DBD (Dumb name I know). I live in the US currently, but I've spent loads of time in Europe. I work a boring desk job, but I'm slowly working on a book. I'm a big fan of horror games and movies. I've been a member of the SCP Foundation for a looooong time. I've been a fan of DBD since the beginning and don't plan on stopping anytime soon. My favorite book is easily house of leaves. I have this strange curse where I don't have romantic feelings for anyone but plenty of people have romantic feelings for me. Thats me.
-
More bug fixers, please. Also SCPs.

This map specifically makes me remember the gold old days of launch.

Never heard anyone say this before. I would honestly love to see that but the only question is which SCP would it be?
It could be anyone. Some people seem to like the idea of 049 while others are with 106. I've also seen quite a lot of support for a DBD specific SCP. I personally think the best idea would be to play as 106 with the ability to break out the others.

Yeah in sure dbd could pull off talking to the BBC yeah that's a pipe dream and a half
Prescides and alien timelord is just too op I could maybe understand something like one of his sidekicks With one of the monsters as a killer
But too have the doc himself.. Hed escape in two seconds with every other surrvivor.
Then they will be no dbd
Yeah BBC ain't great. The doctors biological differences probably wouldn't do much in the context of DBD, Especially with the Entity canonically nerfing survivors. I don't see the Doctor escaping if the entity took away the Tardis and Sonic screwdriver either. Especially since the Entity has managed to keep this running for like a millennia or something.

If none of these comments start ragging on yanderedev imma be real disappointed.

Horror comedy, based on a full on horror franchise (and is actually canon).
Come on, friend. You're only strengthening my argument here.
Evil Dead 2 leaned so heavily into comedy. Army of Darkness was made with the intent of being an action film rather than a horror film. The only 2 are the OG and Remake of the OG. Also, as you admit the only criteria to getting in is to be Horror. My argument is that a show that leans heavily on horror elements at times would work and your saying my arguments make no sense? I'm going to bed, we'll continue this tomorrow if you want.

Could go over well, as it’s well known an also quite popular. I’m not a huge fan of DW, myself, but I think it could work well in a DBD setting. Prefer your username as a future chapter, tho.
I believe AmericanHorrorStory would be a much better fit for DBD, from any of the available seasons.
I'd be down for something from American Horror Story. And I'd probably kill for my username lmao.

Those episodes are once a season. Not exactly "few and far between". Doctor Who is primarily a drama, and horror episodes are actually few and far between.
So, my point still stands.
No, theres always some scary monster. I said horror aspect not full episode. Also, the Ash we have is from Ash VS Evil Dead. Which is Horror Comedy.

DBD is a horror game, but it's also a game that lives through the slasher film genre. Nothing about Doctor Who fits in that. Doctor Who in DBD makes zero sense. That's like saying "Add the Simpsons because of the treehouse of horrors episodes".
Difference is Simpsons is primarily a comedy show and those episodes are few and far between, Like every episode in Doctor Who has some horror aspect to it. And is DBD primarily a slasher game? Yes. Were the last two licenses we got Stranger Things and Silent Hill? Also yes.

I don't really like this show. And even if I liked, not sure if this alien time lord (if i'm not mistaken) could be trapped in entity's realm.
Thats fair, I could see why people don't like it. The doctor has had quite the history of being trapped in places so I feel like the Entity taking away his tools would do enough to realistically trap him. I don't think they'd necessarily need to grab the doctor either, a companion could be cool too. Sorry for nerding out.

I thought about that but PH, Hag, and Myers off the top of my head all have tools to get around it. I think as long as moris doesn't award less points than the hook its fine because the mori because a last resort
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1613777#Comment_1613777
The 3 I mention don't earn it though, they just don't care. Spirit too matter of fact, of course Devour and Rancor can be used by anyone but they're tools from those killers. I think Rancor comes from rage, breaking the tie with the entity, and Devour is hag going into a primal bloodlust doing the same thing (Huntress perk that hides her red light also breaks the tie)
Hag doesn't have anything extra to help her mori than anything else. PH and Myers all have reasons to mori. The Entity can't control Myers lust to kill and PH gets to punish anyone already on deaths door and tormented.
-
Isn't that the entire point of the charge system? To provide reasons to not spam the ability?
