I think if done right they could be good, dead hard is the best example of this, requiring both killers and survivors to utilize it properly to not get hit or still get the hit. DS is the worst example of this, basically rewarding survivors with extra chase time for doing nothing special, and invincibility for a minute if you find a locker.
-
Monstrous Shrine, could literally not be any worse if they tried.

I agree mostly, she certainly does have a lot that takes skill away. But her ability requires a decent understanding of the survivors player and the ability to catch the noise of footprints and predict where survivors are based on that.

This would probably still leave him relying on addons, but it seems better than what we have now. I feel like the Unnerving presence change should be 100% of the time, just so chance isn't as big a factor for its usefulness. Other than that I feel like this could be a good change.
-
I like it, would get decimated by SWF though.
-
It does seem to be because of SH. Funnily enough I've seen almost as many posts complaining about FNAF posts as I have about FNAF. I just wish both sides would stop at this point.
-
I've never played TLOU but I'd be fine with it. It would probably just be an exclusive survivor for playstation, kinda like what they did with bill.

Ok fair but even still the one we got was the pedo if you read Quentin's backstory
Yeah, I wish they would give him a skin based off the original series. But that doesn't seem possible.

I could get behind that. Later down the line when DBD has already gotten more of the big licenses people are talking about now, I wouldn't mind Springtrap as much as I would now, at that point it would just add to the diversity of the roster in the game.
Right now though, I think a lot of people (myself included) were slightly disappointed with what came to be in chapter 17. Despite the fact I will say a lot of people were made extremely happy to see Silent Hill make it, many more were really betting on something far grander that we'd been waiting for for a long time like Pennywise, or hell Jason became more plausible than ever before I was half expecting to see an F13 chapter to be honest. Because of that I'm really looking forward for a hype movie license to make it in for chapter 18, and I know a lot of other people are as well.
But yeah, down the line, maybe I'll even be vouching for Fnaf too, anything can happen.
I was a little disappointed by chapter 16 too. It wasn't til I replayed SH2 that I became more on board with PH. My most wanted are still Jason, A Xeno, And my own personal favorite SCPs.

I've heard the idea tossed around for about as long as I've been playing DBD. Typically as a joke. But the last couple of weeks the hype for a Five Nights at Freddy's chapter has been getting pretty intense. My 11 year old son won't shut up about it. Which tells me he's been watching some youtube videos of people talking about it. WHY? Why all the sudden does this seem to be such a hot topic? Is it because of the Clown elephant and Legion bunny costumes that people seem to think this is the direction the game is going and now FNaF is a real possibility? I deeply, truly, passionately do not want FNaF in this game. Am I alone in this? I would love to hear from the Devs stating that it will never happen so the topic can be dropped.
To explain. Silent Hill is a video game franchise which came with the rabbit costume for legion. So some people think it would be nice to get some FNAF. Granted, they're way of trying to convince people is to spam the forums and annoy everyone. But I don't personally care either way, I would rather we get it maybe two or so years down the line, that way we get some of the bigger licences and FNAF mature more. Sidenote, you don't actually let your kid play the games do you? If so you've got quite the tough kid.
TLDR: People see a small chance and keep annoying everyone.

He was always a pedo.... Also the version of our Freddy is the one burned down in the factory
In the original series the main reason was for killing kids. He didn't get sexual till after he died. So some people theorized he might have been a pedo but it was never confirmed. The pedophilia wasn't an official part till the remake.

Except you completely overlooked the fact that Silent Hill much like Dead By Daylight, is a completely different kind of horror game from Fnaf. You're right it uses fixed camera angles in order to benefit it's horror atmosphere and heighten the tension in the game in a very similar way that fnaf does. However this is about where the similarities between the two end without making broad general statements like "they're both scary".
In Silent Hill 2 you play an active role as the character of James Sunderland, he can move around evading the various Dangers in the Fog covered town of Silent Hill, he has access to multiple different kinds of weapons in order to fight back like Guns and your classic 4 x 4 plank of wood. Pyramid Head as an antagonist functions the same way, he's a clear threatening presence that you can very obviously see whenever he's coming for you and nonetheless that he still remains a very intimidating and imposing figure as he lumbers toward you with malicious intent.
In this way, Silent Hill 2 (& 3, which plays basically the same as the second game) is far more similar to Dead By Daylight than it ever would be to any individual title in the entire Fnaf franchise. You play as an average everyday character in a supernatural setting posed against supernatural odds, rather than an average everyday character in a grounded setting posed against supernatural odds. You play an active role in both titles, actively running, hiding, and sometimes fighting back against the dangers you're up against to survive, rather than a passive role where you're forced to act defensively in an idle position which you can do nothing about. The antagonists in both DBD and SH are both clear and obvious threats to your life, plain and simple hunting you down approaching you very linearly walking or running towards you, rather than having obscure movement patterns meant to illustrate how unnatural the situation you're placed in is. etc. so on and so forth
I don't want to drone on all day but these are the primary reasons that diverge a game like Silent Hill from Five Night's At Freddy's, Silent Hill much like Dead By Daylight is fundamentally a different experience than Five Night's and for that reason it is fundamentally fitting to include it as another chapter in Dead By Daylight. Much like other similar titles like Outlast, The Evil Within, etc. all horror games and video game licenses that share enough qualities and characteristics with Dead By Daylight to warrant considering their inclusion. Five Night's at Freddy's, plain and simply, does not.
Not to mention, even if that point was true it's still a very small comparison that has no bearing on multiple of the points I brought up in my original post.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1429982#Comment_1429982
It's not taken out of context in the slightest, and I think you misunderstand me. I'm not saying that mark is directly saying any of the points I mentioned, he obviously doesn't talk about Dead By Daylight at all (though I'm fairly certain he did a video on the game a long time ago in the past).
What I am doing however, is taking his quotes, things that he said about the franchise as someone who is so experienced with it, and has played all the games, up to their most difficult potential, and done it for years, I'm taking his words describing the first game and by extension the franchise as a whole, and using those quotes to extrapolate a message from them. That message being, why Fnaf should not be in Dead By Daylight. In short: because they are fundamentally different experiences that don't fit together in multiple aspects - from gameplay, to theme, to the different elements of horror that are employed in either title, etc.
I don't think there's anything wrong with that, and for the matter I don't believe that's taking anything out of context at all. I am simply taking the context of his video, his comments on it, and applying them to the context of our current conversation. It was you who decided to post the video after all to try and use it as some kind of proof for why Fnaf should be in the game, therefore it's just as much fair game for me to swoop in and say "no, this proves the opposite". Whether you agree with that or not is none of my concern.
I won't comment on the entirety of your thread as I still believe my original post stands and speaks for itself, however I will address this:
"Any movie, TV show, or videogame doesn't necessarily have to line up with DBD's style"
as probably your most valid and truthful statement. It's something I can't necessarily refute or deny and yet I still can't quite completely agree with it fully. There's a decently large leap that you make from going to the licenses in Dead By Daylight, vs. Fnaf it's a title that I think stands too far out of the realm within which Dead By Daylight as a horror experience and video game title operates in. But I do recognize the validity of your point.
However even if it wasn't a factor, at the end of the day there is simply a cultural difference between the fanbase of fnaf and the fanbase of Dead By Daylight which is something you'd be hard pressed to prove wrong. So as for things like this:
"People will request it until the day it gets in"
An equal if not greater number of people will request it not get in. I've said this once and I'll say it again, for every person that wants Fnaf in Dead By Daylight there are maybe three that don't. As active and lively as the movement to integrate fnaf into the game is, there is an equally active and lively if not greater presence of people who do not want to see it in the game.
Finally:
"With both, BHVR and Scott Cawthon being aware about the demand, I wouldn't exactly say its unlikely."
BHVR has hardly commented on the notion, but this is because they are notoriously secretive about plans regarding upcoming chapters. BHVR may be aware of a number of loud individuals who have been crying out to see fuzzy animatronics in their game, but they are also aware of the players who have been asking for reputable and recognizable characters like Pennywise, Jason, The Xenomorph, Pinhead, Candyman, etc. requests that have been ongoing for years and all of a sudden a relatively small group of people are going to cut in line on chapters that would be far more profitable? I don't think so.
As for Scott Cawthon he has not commented on the idea at all and for all I know, sure, maybe he's entirely on board and actually pushing for it to happen. But on the flip side for all you know he is more than actively against the idea of anyone that's not him laying their hands on his own creative property, the most successful thing in his career and he doesn't want to corrupt his own vision or the players vision of his games by letting someone else handle them.
Obviously BHVR is a successful and trustworthy company and the devs have more than proven their dedication to abiding as much as possible to the source material, but for all we know Cawthon could still get very antsy at the mere notion.

Thanks, yeah these posts can sometimes take some time I was actually just barely able to squeeze that one out before I had to quickly move on to do other things.
I feel like you misunderstand me, I wasn't talking about Silent Hill as comparing it to FNAF, I was using it as a comparison for the logic. Furthermore, it's not just Silent Hill, Saw is known for sticking people in rooms and letting the traps do the work for them, it doesn't really get active (The exception being a few instances in 5 and 6 I believe). L4D is all about getting to the new area and surviving hords of zombies, yet bill has literally none of that. stranger things is also just as much about the character development and relationships as it is with the scary moments. FNAF has also taken a few steps to become more active, the book series is a good example, Help wanted has some light elements of this, so does the AR game. It is still way less active though. I do agree with everything else though, FNAF is way more divisive than everything else, so I feel like FNAF would be a better option a few years down the line, when FNAF has become more active and the community matures some more, and when we've got some of the bigger licenses.

Okay okay but the most compelling argument here: Baldi's Basics is free, FNaF is not. What is there more to argue about? Baldi's Basics is clearly a better setting.
That is true and would likely be a factor for the devs to consider. But it's not likely that would be a deal breaker for FNAF considering how much they've already spent on licencing so far, they're choice would likely depend on fan appeal and they're own personal opinion.

Or we can make little tweaks that turn them into situational mechanics.
Moris would not be so problematic if they only could be used after 2 hooks. It would be a little like PH's power. You can save the time for the last hook, stop flashlight saves/wiggling out and quickly get back in a chase while giving up the potential info of perks like BBQ. The moris could also award slightly more points than now.
Keys, on the other hand, could get a use restriction. Something like "you can use it to reopen the hatch after killer closes it". It would be turned into a EGC tool, basically. The killer closed the hatch? Not a game over anymore. To reduce the nerf, maybe remove the item loss or make the used keys turn into green broken keys and remove the latter from the bloodwebs and boxes.
Both "broken" mechanics would become a lot less powerful but not useless without the need of removal.
It still makes trials inconsistent, I think it would be better if we nixed them entirely and gave a small set of requirements for survs and killers to use they're effects.

It's not about what happens outside of the school. It's about the world building, and FNAFs is more consistent with the other licences. My example about leaving the place of conflict wasn't about if it matters, its about what you would expect if it did happen. And I have a suspicion the reason there aren't any books or movies about baldis is because it's only 2 years old and the focus is on the gameplay rather than the story. I'm not trying to discredit your opinion, I'm discrediting the arguments your using because they're flat out incorrect. Furthermore, you made this about FNAF, you used the same regurgitated arguments that just don't work. If you want to make a purposeful thread about Baldi's basics that's fine. But this thread isn't about baldis basics. It's you giving ten joke reasons for why you would want baldi and then using objectively wrong arguments about FNAF. I actually like baldis basics, I find the characters charming and the art style nostalgic, I also appreciate the gameplay because it's an actually skill based take on slenders gameplay. And I would be fine with it getting a chapter if done right. But why did you post on the forums if you didn't expect your opinion to be challenged? That's basically the whole point of the forums. I'm sorry if I've upset you, but I'm being as objective as possible.

I'm just making a compelling argument as to why Baldi's Basics should be considered just as much as one would consider FNAF. Baldi's Basics has two games (Classic and Plus), no books or movies, but I believe the reason there isn't any books or movies is because the developer doesn't need alternative ways to tell the story about Baldi because the story in the game is sort of convoluted and obscure. It's simple, you're a student in a school, and Baldi's there to teach you a lesson, one way or another. Why do you need any explanation about what happens outside of the school? What happens in FNAF outside of the places that are haunted by Chuck-e-cheese animatronics? Presumably life carries on normally. Unless FNAF happens in Hell or Purgatory and those restaurants or whatever they are are surrounded by void.
I understand if you don't like Baldi's Basics but I would genuinely appreciate if you ceased trying so hard to discredit my opinions or trying to suppress this. There's like over 100+ threads asking for FNAF stuff and only one regarding Baldi's Basics.

As much as I'd love to play as the a Xenomorph, I wonder what they could actually do?
When they introduced the Demogorgon, the pounce and teleport would of been the things I'd imagine the Xenomorph would do (with vents or even reuse the hatch asset). Maybe they could have been a trap based killer with facehuggers, again, I don't know how those could interact with survivors in a meaningful but not obnoxious way.
with the introduction of legendary skins, I wouldn't be surprised if one day we get a 15$ Demo skin that turns him into a Xenomorph
no new sounds, no new perks, no new mechanics, and twice the price .. unlucky :'(
Vents, adaptation, acid blood, tail, seeing based on sound, climbing on walls, facehuggers. The way I see it, if they could make billie and bubba different they could make a Xenomorph unique.
-
I'm a little split. I've had much more experience with FNAF, but a Xeno could be so damn cool. I'll go with FNAF because of how cool I find springtrap.

Alright, so as one of the (probably rare few) people on this forums who took the time to at least watch the beginning of that second video, I want to point out that second video ironically highlights the exact reasons why Fnaf shouldn't be in the game despite the fact that it's so often ironically tossed around these forums as "proof" it's "a good game" and a "Scary game" that fits into Dead By Daylight.
Here are the following quotes that I'll be using -
"It's all so spooky! It is you just feel helpless"
"Something about the elements of this particular version of the game was all in the unknown, you can't see it, you don't get a good look at em, like you know he's coming but you don't really know what's going on there."
"Just look at the angles that were chosen for this game. God, the first one is a masterpiece, it really is, it really is, it's so efficiently made. It is such an efficient experience, it is exactly what it needs to be and no more, period."
These are honest to god reasons why Fnaf shouldn't be in the game, from the mouth of "The King Of Five Night's At Freddy's" himself.
- "You just feel helpless"
- This is one of the primary reasons that people (specifically Fnaf's target audience) are captivated by and afraid when they play the game. You are locked in one position, you can't run, you can't hide, your back is against the wall and all you have are some lights, some doors and some cameras. This does not fit with the tone and gameplay of Dead By Daylight, it is in fact directly contradictory of it, while fnaf may be a "revolutionary indie horror game" Dead By Daylight is a classic slasher experience. You both run and hide from a killer who is hunting you down. Sometimes, in rare cases (although not so rare in today's meta) you can even fight back with perks like Decisive Strike, Head On, etc. something that clearly and blatantly goes against fnaf's core gameplay.
- So if you like fnaf, play fnaf, it's an entirely different and unique experience from Dead by Daylight it doesn't have to join Dead by Daylight for you to enjoy it. In fact it will likely do the exact opposite of what people who are fans would think it would do, instead of liking it more you'll probably end up liking it less.
- "Something about the elements of this particular version of the game was all in the unknown"
- There is no unknown here in Dead By Daylight, at least not for Fnaf. Fnaf might be creepy because of it's setting, it proposes the hypothetical of a real life serial killer who murdered children and stuffed their bodies into suits. In this way the story of Fnaf is kind of grounded (if you ignore all the parts about spirits, robots becoming sentient and coming to life, conspiracy theories that run deep etc.) and as a player you're wondering "what is going on" but in Dead by Daylight we know exactly what's going on. Roughly. The killer, springtrap in this case, would have been taken by the entity to do it's bidding and that's it, you're not an "average security guard working a night shift stuck in a supernatural nightmare" you're a survivor who's been stuck in a purgatory-like cycle of death for an unspecified amount of time . You know what to expect, you know what's happening, there's no unknown to scare you here.
- "you can't see it, you don't get a good look at em, like you know he's coming but you don't really know what's going on there."
- This is another reason why Fnaf doesn't work with Dead By Daylight. Fnaf relies heavily on the obscured vision you're given through the security cameras to heighten the tension of the game. You can't quite clearly make out the shadowy figures that stand in the hallway through the darkness and the static on the screen, and that makes the game scarier. In Dead By Daylight, there are no such restrictions to your view, the maps aren't impossibly dark and in fact most of them are brightly moonlit, one even has the sun just barely beginning to crest at Twilight shining over the map.
- Because of this you would see springtrap or whatever fuzzy animatronic it is, in broad moonlight. And unlike what mark says that makes the game scary, you would get a good look at them, you would know they're coming and you would know exactly what's going on. Fnaf is supposed to be scary because of the unnatural and unknown way that the animatronics slowly or quickly approach you, how are they moving that fast between rooms and cameras? You don't know, the game doesn't answer that, it's part of the horror aspect. But in Dead By Daylight you would know, and you would very clearly see these fuzzy robots running around in circles after you at your average loop.
- "you can't see it, you don't get a good look at em, like you know he's coming but you don't really know what's going on there."
- There is no unknown here in Dead By Daylight, at least not for Fnaf. You know what to expect, you know what's happening, there's no unknown to scare you here.
- "Just look at the angles that were chosen"
- This goes hand in hand with the previous point, it's not just the poor lighting or the obstructed view caused by static that makes Fnaf what it is. The fixed angles from which the cameras are placed that provide a limited view of your surroundings also adds to the mystery and tension of what may or may not be taking place beyond the views of the cameras. This will not be so in Dead By Daylight, you will be looking directly at springtrap or whoever else as you loop the killer.
- "It is such an efficient experience, it is exactly what it needs to be and no more, period."
- This is the end all be all of the possibility of Fnaf getting into Dead By Daylight. At the end of the day these two titles are far to dissimilar to be even remotely compatible and if Fnaf ever were introduced into Dead By Daylight it would at the cost of literally everything that the fans fell in love with about the game in the first place. You would have to sacrifice all it's tension, mystery, jumpscares, and theme to integrate it into Dead By Daylight simply because Dead By Daylight does each of these things in a far more different way than Fnaf. It's tense in other aspects, it has it's own mysteries and lore that make it interesting, the fear in the game isn't always reliant on jumpscares, and the general theme and tone of the game is so drastically different it amazes me that there's a push for the integration of such a chapter in the first place.
- This is one of the primary reasons that people (specifically Fnaf's target audience) are captivated by and afraid when they play the game. You are locked in one position, you can't run, you can't hide, your back is against the wall and all you have are some lights, some doors and some cameras. I fully agree with the sentiment here. The points you brought up all made sense, but theres just one problem; Silent Hill. The Silent Hill games people actually like all use fixed cameras, atmospheric music, and gunplay, none of those things translate into DBD at all. Yet here we are. Not to mention FNAF has shown itself capable of deviating from the fixed angle with games like Help wanted or the AR game.
- "You just feel helpless"
-
Can someone please explain to me how it's easier to camp a cage that spawned at the other side of a map than a hook which you literally have to put them on yourself?

That's the whole point of this post though, making an equally outlandish suggestion to everyone who are spamming the forums with "Please add Springtrap to DbD" posts and trying to justify why Springtrap would be a great addition to the DbD roster. I find it ironic how people defend the idea of adding a cartoony character from a jumpscare fiesta game into DbD but Baldi is just TOO much. The thing is, what makes my opinion about Baldi fitting perfectly DbD less worthy or less credible than all of the opinions about Springtrap?
As you can see even if this is in general a joke topic, a good lot of people would prefer seeing Baldi in DbD over Springtrap. Besides, BHVR did want to have a teacher killer at some point, so Baldi fits that entire niche very well.
Thing is, Baldis basics is a 2 year old slender clone with all of one game. FNAF is a 6 year old game with seven mainline entries, 3 book series, and soon to be a movie. Not to mention, FNAF is grounded in reality like all other licences we currently have, baldis takes seemingly place in the vaccum of space. Just like FNAF, Halloween, NOEM, and ST to name a few, if you were to leave the place of conflict (ie leave the pizzeria, lab, nightmare, or haddonfield), you would probably have a normal life, no other issues would arise and you would be fine. Now imagine going home in baldis world, do you have any idea what would happen? No, It would be unpredictable and you still might be in trouble considering you were almost just killed over a math question. I don't have a problem with your opinion, if you honestly prefer Baldi over FNAF thats fine, but your points to validate your preference are just flat out incorrect. And you seem to have made this to spite FNAF fans who keep annoying the forums with FNAF talk, however you don't seem to have realized that your only contributing to the problem. I don't find critique of a potential FNAF chapter wrong, its kinda the point of the forum to debate and critique stuff, but you can't critique FNAF and get mad at the fans who would defend it and then critique Baldi or something else, they're just doing what your doing at that point.
-
You aren't actually serious about the baldi thing right? Baldis is almost exclusively followed by kids, and the aesthetic would not work at all. As for FNAF. To start, the kids argument has always been stupid, go play help wanted and then tell me you would subject a kid to it. Second, the cringe argument is about the community rather than the material, and the community has calmed down a lot as of late, I can guarantee the main cringe you'll find is probably a year old or more. And the intended demographic is atleast 12 and up, which is admittedly quite a bit lower than other franchises, but that is nowhere near 7-13. I feel like these points you use are only to justify your opinion rather than actually being valid to the series, If you don't like FNAF and find the constant posts about it annoying thats fine, I'm not big on FNAF anymore and these constant posts are starting to annoy me. But writing an opinion and trying to passing it off as fact while also contributing to the mountain of posts on the topic aren't helping anyone.
-
It's demo all over again. We should just get rid of addons entirely at this point. Give a killer 5 "Augments" that change their power in a decently substantial way and scale with rank. That way we also lose this whole finite advantage BS that makes trials even more inconsistent then they already are. We could even apply this to survs to make it more consistent for them too.

I know what FNaF is. ANYTHING could pop out and scare you with a jumpscare. That’s the only thing scary about it. The animatronics themselves are cartoony and not scary.
You clearly have not played the VR game then. A 7ft tall malfunctioning animatronic staring you in the face with a decaying corpse inside of it is the definition of scary.

It's absolutely incredible how I actually agree with your overall point that Springtrap should not be in the game, but I disagree with almost every sub-point you made.
- "He cannot be taken seriously"
- This is probably the point I can most get behind, there's a kind of Stigma that surrounds Fnaf and it's playerbase and it's something I sincerely don't want Dead By Daylight to have any part of or connotation with. At the same time however, this point brings me flashbacks of people from back in the day in 2016 / 2017 / 2018 who told me that nobody would take Ghostface seriously and that "he's not even scary" yadda yadda yadda which still intensely pisses me off even today. (Although I can now relish the feeling of knowing that Ghostface not only now scare people frequently in the game, but is also a highly viable killer who consistently sits at the top of mid-tier or bottom of high tier)
- So much to my own dismay, this is the exact kind of evidence that would favor springtrap. A killer like Ghostface who also saw opposition to being included from people who felt he would be "a joke" draws obvious parallels to Springtrap, which is especially interesting considering how that story ended: he not only did make it into the game but as one of the most well liked and viable killers.
- In fact plenty of licensed characters saw some kind of opposition to their inclusion, certain people had no idea who would be the featured killer in a Saw chapter and for that reason they weren't on board. Some people didn't want to see Leatherface because we already had a killer who featured a Chainsaw and therefore he wouldn't be unique. Up to our latest Pyramid Head who many (including myself) didn't want to see for various reasons but one of which was because he was from a lesser known video game, for others (like myself) it was because they simply had a preference to see a different licensed property.
- "The Game Does not Need more Licenses right now"
- This is the most intensely frustrating and outright egregious point out of your three. Dead by Daylight is an amalgamation of different horror stories, both original AND licensed. Dead By Daylight is the Super Smash Brothers Ultimate of the horror genre it is quite literally defined and characterized by your ability to play as or against some of the most historic and recognizable figures in all of horror. This is a good thing. It is exactly the reason for what puts Dead By Daylight on the map for circles of people largely outside the gaming industry and media / news sites. Were it not for the licensed characters we do have, Dead By Daylight would undoubtedly not be as successful, popular, or as well known as it is today.
- Because of this, if anything we both need and want to see more licensed characters. Your point of "there are seven licensed characters" is exactly a point that can be used against you that is under half! How can you in good conscience say that "we can't have more" when under 40% specifically 35% of the roster are licensed characters. Some of the most popular and well liked characters in the game licensed, Steve Harrington, Nancy Wheeler, Bill Overbeck, Ghostface, Freddy alongside his rework became one of the most powerful killers in the game and rightly so, etc. You pointed out 2 licensed characters that had a less than popular reception and failed to provide any more examples than that, one of the 2 of which is getting a rework right now on the upcoming PTB coming out tomorrow!!
- Interesting is very much a subjective term, and what may not be interesting for you is very much so for others. For many of the people who play DBD especially and most specifically those newer who came later, it was the interest in the licensed characters that brought them to play in the very first place. Not to mention, it is the exact interest of the community itself that pushes the developers to continue releasing licensed content in the first place! it is exactly because most of us want to see this content that it is created and released, for the reason that we (aka the overwhelming majority) asked for it.
- Of course it is important to recognize and appreciate just who well written and created many of BHVR's original characters are, the fact that there are people more interested in their content rather than what was created by other people is an impressive feat on it's own and something the devs should be commended for. But this has absolutely no impact or influence on whether or not the game should continue to see an influx of new licensed character that are well liked and well known on a wide scale. Without question if more characters are coming, some must be licensed
- This is the most intensely frustrating and outright egregious point out of your three. Dead by Daylight is an amalgamation of different horror stories, both original AND licensed. Were it not for the licensed characters we do have, Dead By Daylight would undoubtedly not be as successful, popular, or as well known as it is today.
- This has no impact or relevance on whether or not Dead By Daylight can and should be getting updates of new content. The fact is that the Dev Team is broken up into multiple different parts, one of which is dedicated on creating and producing new content, the other works on bug fixes.
- And you can't tell me "just have them all focus on fixing bugs!" because that's quite literally not their specialty. The people creating new content are artists who develop concept art for the original or licensed designs, create the 3D character models and animations, you've got sound designers and composers working on the new sounds killers they make - their breathing, their weapon, their power, the music track or theme that's created for the chapter / character, and you have writers who are detailing the accounts of these characters writing their backstories and lore, descriptions for each cosmetic and in-game add-on or offering, etc.
- By telling me "we should have all of them focus on fixing bugs!" you're telling me you want Artists, Writers, and Composers to fix complicated programming issues and bugs. Good luck with trying to push that idea through to anyone who has even a smidge of common-#########-sense.
- By also telling me you want to halt the production of new content, you are also indirectly saying "let's not give these people work for a period of a couple of months while the health of the game is improved". That's just flat out a ######### thing to say.
- And to address your comparisons to Rainbow Six Siege's Operation Health, anybody who's played Rainbow Six Siege for any decent amount of time knows that Operation Health had an incredibly negative reception. Not only were people intensely disappointed new content that was promised for that season would be put on hold for a period of multiple months, but also for much of Operation Health, nothing actually got done or fixed.
- Quote from a simple google search found from a user on Reddit discussing Operation Health:
- And you can't tell me "just have them all focus on fixing bugs!" because that's quite literally not their specialty. The people creating new content are artists who develop concept art for the original or licensed designs, create the 3D character models and animations, you've got sound designers and composers working on the new sounds killers they make - their breathing, their weapon, their power, the music track or theme that's created for the chapter / character, and you have writers who are detailing the accounts of these characters writing their backstories and lore, descriptions for each cosmetic and in-game add-on or offering, etc.
"Essentially, a week before the Chinese operation was suppose to hit, they cancelled everything and said. "Sorry, game's broke." and that they needed to cancel an entire season in order to fix things. This would have been fine, but the timing could not have been worse and the announcement that there wasn't going to be a Polish map pissed pretty much everyone off as the Polish operation was one people were looking forward to.
What followed was one of the most pathetic excuses at communication I've ever seen from a game company. Multiple times, they would change their philosophy without telling anyone, make drastic changes with less than a weeks notice and release pathetic patches that did nothing to actually fix the game."
But again to bring this around full circle, yeah, I don't think Springtrap should be in the game. But almost everything you said was flat out wrong.
This is the best worded post I've ever seen covering this topic.
- "He cannot be taken seriously"

I'm glad to hear your perspective, and thank you for not trying to turn this into another pointless argument. The later FNAF games have gotten a decent bit scarier (Especially help wanted). But it is unfortunate the reputation FNAF has recieved, although the community has calmed down a lot as of late. I'm not sure why, could be that kids either grew up and got smarter or lost interest and left. And I agree, the devs should absolutely take a break from new content to focus on the game, I'm surprised more people aren't asking for this. Although the licence and bug thing aren't exclusive to springtrap and will eventually solve themselves. I do find the licencing complaints kinda funny considering chapter 17 seems to be licensed.

You literally just explained how SCP is fanfiction.... It's a whole website based on fanfic, granted it's a teir or two above the average creepy pasta, and they actually did peer reviewing. I actually LOVE SCP and it's lore, but I have enough restraint and respect for what that property is on its own NOT to want to see it haphazardly tied into DBD, despite the fact it makes a ######### ton more sense than. FnaF
I still don't think you know how Fan fiction works. Fan fiction means it is not official and made by fans. Meaning if it's on the site it's official and therefore not Fan fiction. And I agree, haphazardly shoving it in without care would suck, but it could be great if done right. I'm sure you already know my stance on it based on my name.

Put it this way, I'd much rather see SCP-173 in this game and that's pretty much ALL fanfic. At least it's respectable.
I don't see how SCPs are fanfic but sure. Also the definition of fan fiction is something not official and made by fans, The stories in FNAF are made by the creator and left for the fans to find, so calling FNAF fan fiction is just flat out incorrect. You also keep talking about FNAF porn like people don't make of other horror series, hell people even make porn of DBD itself. I don't even care for FNAF but these arguments yall are using just don't make sense.

How abour reading more than just one post?
You only made one post, unless your counting the ones that came before which say the exact same thing.

It's still just a Kids toy and doesnt fit into dbd atmosphere.
How is any of what he described a kids toy? This is the same game that gave us rabbit costumes for legion btw.

Lot to unpack here. Its really difficult to dismiss Springtrap because of the "classic slasher" theme, considering L4D and Stranger Things exists(also being a love letter to slashers is a bit of a stretch). But the one thing all these characters have in common is "horror", which whether is the popular opinion or not, FNAF falls under. The argument that the games are made for kids is pretty solid, Id even say it were true for the newer games, but the game Springtrap is from is definitely a horror game and the lore behind him is better than some that are already in the game. But not only lore, Springtrap would be more terrifying than a lot of the killers in the game.
Im not arguing he should be in the next chapter, or the one after that, I'm just debunking the arguments I've seen the most that dont make any sense. I really want Alien over anything right now, but Id love to see Springtrap in year 5 or 6. But I agree im not a fan of IT or Silent Hill.
But I really appreciate the rant, it was a good read.
I would love for an Alien chapter. They could do so much unique stuff with a Xeno.

@SCP_FOR_DBD I just put random in to make it sound more creative though I could go for 3 different moris having a possibility within this perk I understand where you are coming from and thank you for replying to this concept. Though it may not be perfect I hope you still enjoyed reading it and if you think I should change something up with the insta down I will take the inspiration in for example though I like how it is now if you have a specific idea for it that I may find good enough for a change I may just take in to mind and change it to whatever you thought could be changed for that specifically or anything else you disliked.
I just think it should be a standard hit instead of an instant down, that way it doesn't become frustrating. Aside from that I love the idea of it.

Here's a great reason not to include FnAF - Half the story is made up by the audience. They decide what's Cannon, the creator made a lazy cash grab idea of a horror game and kids who never read a Stephen king book in there life or even know who TF Dean Koontz is deemed it to be best cuisine art cringe pasta.
Said audience demands their silly property be placed in a horror game because their desire to ######### Chicka is only supersede by their desire to ruin the concept of horror for everyone by forcing their weird, deviant sex art onto a disinterested and unwitting audience.
You do know thats a massive over generalization of the community right? And the main storyline is actually pretty easy to follow and is set in stone. It's the little things that make the story complicated. FNAF 4 is the exception, theres still a lot of unknowns with that one.

I kinda disagree about FNAF being included. The points you raised are all valid opinion, but baiscally FNAF has a really cartoon like aesthetic which just doesn't fit well in DBD.
Yes there is bunny feng, but its a jumper not really a comedic costume. The new legion skins are an easter egg SH purchase basically that I have personally never seen once in game yet. I'm not overly impressed by them so I probably wouldn't get them but if you like em great go buy em. It's a minor addon not a whole DLC.
The FNAF cartoony theme I have never found scary. If you are bound by license to recreate a character then you have to kind of stay within the confines of how they look. (Speculation here but I'm sure that's part of why the silent hill skins are all one set, correct me if I'm wrong).
Yes the lore is very dark but its more than just that. Look at the theme/atmosphere/art style of DBD and ask yourself how well does FNAF really fit into it outside of the dark back story.
Thing is. Spring trap is the one character that doesn't fit in with the cartoony artstyle. And maps like fazbear fright lack the colorful artstyle you think of. I don't personally care if we get FNAF or not but I think it could work.
-
I like it. But I feel like the instadown thing could be pretty stupid. And random moris just will not work.
-
I liked it. It felt like it accurately covered all the bases.
-
I'm 99% sure they were joking. The devs have made a few mistakes but they're not stupid.
-
Honestly it seems like FNAF is just way more split than all the other potential lisences. It feels like some people just really don't like FNAF and are actively against it. While it wouldn't be my first choice I still think it could work. But I feel like BHVR has proved to us that they are willing to break the mold to give us what we request. I still wouldn't count on anything though.

What would a FNAF killer’s power be? Jumpscares? Hag already has that, and there’s (decent) lore behind it.
I get it’s a “horror game”, but think about how it could fit into DBD other than just because you like the franchise.
We have 4 different killers based around range (5 counting PH). 2 killers based around chainsaws. 3 killers based around stealth. 2 killers based around traps (5 counting PH,Freddy, and Demo). 4 killers who have some form of teleporting. The dev team has been able to make all of these guys play differently. Why wouldn't they be able to create an original ability based around jumpscares just because 1 killer has the ability?

To explain the lore in the last 3 fnaf games you've missed in a DbD forum would be more difficult than making the Fnaf dlc itself.
Sorry my bad, I've actually played pizzeria simulator too, I just keep forgetting about it. Which other games are you referring to? I'm pretty sure one of them is the VR game but I'm not sure about the other.

She's a cultist of Glitchtrap (who is essentially a computerized Springtrap with a far more haunting appearance)... and that's pretty much all we know right now (EDIT: that isn't speculation).
Oh and her mask is this nightmare fuel.
Thank you

We actually don't need a survivor, a chapter with a map and two killers would be better imo. Springtrap and Vanny would be perfect.
Who's Vanny? My knowledge of FNAF currently only extends as far as Sister Location.
