I have the arcade game, was less than $10 at Target when I bought it. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Aside from the violence they both have, Stranger Things also has sexual content, language, and smoking/drinking - people get ridiculously mad about an adult in the 80s smoking.

Like I said before about toys, I do find it weird to sell action figures from adult targeted franchises next to kid targeted ones. With adult toy collectors in the mix the toy industry is just a whole lot of grey area to me. ๐Ÿ˜‚ DnD I would say youngest playing it is probably early teens, not sure any younger would be able to focus on a campaign long enough unless playing with older sibling or something.

For the games I went to the esrb site and the only one I see is for the 4th one being rated Teen, so 13+. The rest are parents on rating feedback websites saying 9/10 is good age with handful causing the average to jump to 12+ by saying it should be 17+ because it's demonic and you're going to burn if you play it - dying at those reviews. Based on those parent sites most seem to see atleast the first few fnaf games as a kids game.

I said it on my first comment in here, if anything they should do original animatronic instead of license. It gets rid of the target audience being kids argument as well as avoids parents groups. They would have more freedom with the DLC lore, cosmetics, map, design, etc. and you could get it for iridescent shards.

I never understood why people got mad about smoking in the 80's, thats just how it was. And if the only thing is smoking plus sexy times, I don't see why not, its not like any of those things are in dbd. Funnily enough the only rating I could find on the esrb's website was the VR game being 15+. I couldn't even find FNAF 4. The only age ratings I keep finding is for the general series, which is 12+. I did find the parent reviews, I can't believe people. As for an original, I wouldn't mind it but I'd prefer springtrap, its kinda like having trapper instead of jason, sure they're similar but its not the same y'know?

  • So what you saying is "Everyone just yells and screams at eachother, No ones civil anymore! No one thinks about what its like to be the other guy!"

I agree with having it deactivate after touching a gen, but it shouldn't deactivate on healing. Someone could use For The People or a syringe on you to assist you and having DS deactivate then would be a little dumb. In terms of the locker bait, I think it should stay. Survivors shouldn't be forced to stay slugged to keep their DS active. Lockers are also the only way to counter moris, as lets face it, you're going to get morid off first hook.

I can agree with the healing part, but not the locker part. The thing is, most survivors use DS as a way to be invincible for a minute, they chase the killer to get their attention and then get slugged or DS, the only thing to stop slugging being lockers. I think you see where I'm going with this.

Yeah, I only used them because I was asked to elaborate on them specifically. If given the choice I probably would have used something else.

Mortal Kombat has had parents groups on it from the start because they did not want it targeted towards kids, they are the reason a video game rating system now exists. Since the rating system was put in place Mortal Kombat has been given a mature rating and the parents groups can no longer say it's targeted towards children. If they were to add a DLC from franchise targeted towards children though the parents groups would be all over them for trying to attract children to a mature game - which this here is why I think DBD should avoid DLC from kid targeted franchises.

Stranger Things target audience is 18-40 year olds, which is the majority of their viewers and social media interactions. Their books are also written and released in sections for that target audience not the kids section. The only thing I see Stranger Things and Fnaf having in common is that they aren't classic horror franchises.

I haven't seen the Scary Stories movie yet so can't say what was/wasn't changed from the books. Harry Potter is a kids book series and the last movie was PG-13 instead of PG like the rest of the series. The MPAA has odd standards between PG/PG13/R ratings. Be Cool is a great movie to watch because they point out how ridiculous it is - like how you can use certain swear words a certain number of times before a PG-13 movie becomes R. Many horror directors have discussed how inconsistent the MPAA are when it comes to rating movies. If you're into that sort of thing it is interesting to read up on.

Fnaf the books are in kids section because the writer went with Scholastic for a publisher - they are a publisher for children's books and magazines they don't do adult (can check the about section of their website to confirm). If fnaf was not suitable for children Scholastic would not have given the writer a publishing deal. Instead the books are released through a publisher that only does kids books, put in the kids section, and it sells well with kids as target audience. From what I can tell parents groups have stayed quiet on fnaf being targeted towards kids - they'd be demanding the books removed from kids sections if it was not appropriate for them. If the writer did not want them to be seen as a kids series he could've gone to publishers that do more than just kids books like Penguin Random House, Hachette, HarperCollins, or even self-published with Amazon who have made it fairly easy for authors to do so with ebooks and paperbacks. If he went through one of those other publishers could say they put the books under the wrong category but going through a kids book only publisher can't use that excuse.

Toys I really have no response on mainly because the toy industry is one I don't know much about. I always found it odd when I'd go to Toys R Us and see a Slasher action figure next to a Disney cartoon character. They seem to be more worried about choking hazard than anything. ๐Ÿ˜‚

You make many a fair points, Mortal Kombat was definitely not a good example. However, the main stuff is the games, the demographic for those being mostly 12+ (FNAF 4 was rated M), not adult, but not kid either. Hell, the newest game was rated 15+. And stranger things has had plenty of kids stuff, action figures, DnD versions (DnD is a little iffy, considering it's also meant for adults), and weirdly enough a small arcade machine. https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/J~oAAOSwwfFeTFkT/s-l640.jpg (Sidenote am I the only one who really wants one?) So they also have kids merchandise. And when I mentioned Stranger Things I wasn't talking about if the demographic was for kids, I know its 18-40. I was asking what makes Stranger Things so much more adult. What pushes Stranger Things over the M/R rated line that FNAF doesn't have? I personally think FNAF would be a good option a few years down the line. When the games become more mature and the movie comes out, and when we've gotten some of the bigger licences.

  • I'd be down for a paragraph with sam and dean, maybe even a castiel legendary skin. I wouldn't get my hopes up with his reaction though.

  • SCP, I love it. But they just don't have the numbers

Killer: The SCP (Playable one would be 106, but he could release the others as time goes on)

The problem with DS is nerfing it too much will make tunneling as killer a lot easier.

    Rework:

    DS lasts for 30 seconds.

The timer slows down by 50% while in the killer's terror radius and pauses while in chase.

DS stays paused while in the dying state.

    DS can be used twice.

DS is instant, no longer requiring the player to hit a skill-check.

If the killer is currently in stealth and therefore has no terror radius, DS switches to a 32 meter range from the killer for the timer slowdown.

That would be a cool rework, it would actually fit as an anti tunnel perk, I would also make it disable while doing a gen, healing, and jumping into a locker, cause lets face it, your not being tunneled if your doing any of those things.

It's not biased because it literally is not feasible. We're talking about game balance not the intricacies of voter manipulation, it shouldn't be a poll option because it's not a realistic change the overall community is looking for. It' already a meta perk that is used regularly, and it is already far too strong as it is, that's not "bias" that's common f*cking sense. The community would absolutely erupt in outrage and fury if that ever happened, people don't want it to happen, people don't think it should happen, hence why it's not a poll option in most every poll. The only realistic options are to rework it or to leave it and one of those isn't even entirely realistic anymore.

Evidenced by the 19 people who have currently voted, NONE of which voted to "buff it".

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1449207#Comment_1449207

    At first.

    ?

    Oh do go on.

I don't mean "at first" as in "I thought it was stupid, but my true love DS showed me the light and decided to have an option to buff." I mean "at first" as in "Should I put the option to buff it in, haha no one is going to vote for that. Ah well, lets give them the option."

But here's the thing: HOW will he work? Explain how "vents" exist on a map like Dead Dawg Saloon for example. Traversal or ranged attacks wouldn't be a power for killer that isn't even much of a killer in their current state, let alone even be armed with a weapon of any kind.

Heres a quick concept. Move speed 115%. Terror Radius: 32m. Height: Tall. 1. Vents could show up like Jigsaw boxes, strewn around the map, upon which the survivor or killer can go in to another vent, they will both be undetectable. If springtrap and a survivor meet in a vent, they both appear at the end of springtraps destination, with the survivor being instadowned. 2. Upon downing a survivor, he can put them in a suit, he has 4 suits. The suit acts as a hook, saving him time. The survivors begin to bleed out on the floor, getting skillchecks every now and then. Another Survivor can help the suit one off the floor, this cancels the sacrifice bar and counts as an unhook. The survivor who just got saved still has the suit on, and will suffer a small speed penalty and will get random skillchecks every now and then, failing these skillchecks locks the survivor in place for a moment and they will scream. Survivors can get the suit off by going to another new interactable "Terminal", they will have to play a small skillcheck minigame, and they will then throw off the suit. His two abilities are decently powerful, so he gets nothing for a chase. Keep in mind that I'm not a dev, so my concept would likely pale in comparison to theirs.

I haven't read Goosebumps in 2 decades so can't give examples from that but I do still have my Scary Stories to Tell in The Dark and there's plenty in the 3 volumes of those. These books are available at Scholastic book fairs in elementary schools and filled with stories of people dying in pretty violent ways.

There's the Fishermen story where they take shelter in an old house. At night they hear what sounds like fighting upstairs, blood starts dripping from the ceiling and pooling on the floor, then they hear what sounds like dead body being dragged down stairs.

There's the evening gown story where a girl rents a dress for a dance. By end of night she doesn't feel well and dies. They do autopsy and find she was poisoned by embalming fluid that was on dress because it was used in funeral then stolen before burial and sold to place girl had rented from.

They have the Hearse Song which is about what happens when you die including listing what body parts the worms will eat and what happens to your body as it decomposes.

Story of a woman that died after being in a coma. Grave robber tried to cut off her finger to steal her wedding ring, when he did she started to bleed. She stood up and walked out of her grave. As she walked away grave robber went to run but fell into grave onto the knife and bled to death.

There's the story of the guy who made sausage from people. He gets caught because young boy he tried to kill escapes and people see him chasing the kid. The people go after him - he "disappears" either fed to his hogs or fed to his sausage grinder.

Woman waiting for Subway notices three men, two are holding up man that looks like he's drunk. They all get on train and at first stop two men leave the drunk one saying they'll see him later. After they leave she sees blood trickling down his head from a bullet hole.

There's Harold the scarecrow story - where two farmers, Tom and Al, make a life like scarecrow. They see it come to life and it freaks them out. After milking cows they realize they left the stools and draw straws for who goes back for them and Tom loses. After Tom doesn't return Al goes looking for him and sees Harold stretching out bloody skin to dry in the sun.

Those are a handful of stories from the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark series. It's compilation of horror stories for kids that are pretty gruesome.

Also Watership Down which is both a kids book and movie. Here's carnage count from the movie.

    https://youtu.be/F7YL9O5dlBk

Thats fair, but this was in the 80's and the new movie, (which from what I can tell is just some stories from the book) was just rated pg-13. Considering Sega thought Mortal Kombat was appropriate for kids and R rated movies like Terminator and Robocop got kids toys, I think it's safe to say SSTTITD was another case of something being given to children when they shouldn't have had it, at least the stories you mentioned. I still don't see how FNAF can't be considered something like stranger things.

I think you have a vast underestimation of what is for kids. It's not all smiles and rainbows.

FNaF is about the same level of 'scary' as Goosebumps, and I can still remember them being popular when I was in grade 2, so what, 7 years old? To pretend a series isn't for children because it contains dark themes is just blatantly incorrect.

I'm sorry, but give me one episode of goosebumps were someone is locked inside walls when they're entire body is pierced from a suit reminiscent of the suits they used to stuff dead children into. You underestimate the gruesomeness of FNAF. If none of that is considered adult enough, what is? What makes something like stranger things so much more gruesome to children that FNAF doesn't have? Also, at my sisters school kids play a game called "Dead By Daylight" where they huddle in groups and tell stories about the killers in the game, they then play what is essentially hide and seek, and coincidentally they are in second grade too. So does this mean DBD is just a kids game?

  • I'd like that, it would also give the loadout screen some more personality.

  • I feel like we could do without them, but there are far more pressing issues at the moment.

  • Those trophy finishers are the coolest, its a shame they didn't include more. Hopefully terrordrome 2 will have them.

  • @Seiko300 said:

    BUFF IT??? LMAO

I can't believe you actually wrote that as a legitimate poll option.

I wanted to give people as many options as possible, I also found the concept laughable at first

  • I'd be fine with this.

  • I think its fine, the haste should be an indication for most people to start looking for a totem. And theres also the fact its a totem, so its always super inconsistent.

  • I like "I'm all ears", not exactly the most niche, but I just can't get enough of it.

  • @NightmareReborn said:

Hasn't Mortal Kombat added horror characters in the past? Why not just add a DbD character into those?

Theres a variety of reasons. We normally get like 4 each game. And they're rules are no repeats, meaning tons of characters are already out. Not to mention, those are mortal kombat games first and foremost, the focus is never on horror. Besides, netherealm is about to switch publishers, so we don't know if they'll even be able to get licenses. Plus, we'd probably only get trapper with the others as special moves if we were lucky.

I don't know why people keep saying this.

Keys are NOT the equivalent to mori's in any way, shape, or form.

Brand New Parts were the original counter to an ebony mori in their original state (this was when mori's had no hook requirement).

Adding one hook state to an ebony mori does not qualify a key to be the equivalent.

Why not? They both get the players far closer to their goal without any extra skill. A mori can get you killed for no reason, A key can let your targets escape for no reason.

  • @GreenPufferFish said:

Ah yes, another player disregarding tons of peoples suggestion just because of who they play. Why would him playing killer make his complaints invalid? Furthermore, what about literally everyone else asking for it?

  • @FootMan2893 said:

Go with scottjund's suggestions. Make DS infinite use, allow the timer to tick down but pause when the survivor is in chase. Instantly disable it if the survivor performs any actions. Repairing, Healing, sabotaging, unhooking, entering a locker, ect.

Give killers a notification it's active. Put a marker on the survivors health meter to let killers know a survivor has it. Doesn't have to show when it's active and not, just that they have the perk. Then make a visual indicator that a survivor has unbreakable primed. A unique crawling animation or something.

It's completely stupid that these perks are so damn impactful on games that you always have to play under the assumption that they have these 2 perks. Atleast with NOED and Devour Hope you can actively prevent it before it happens, but with these 2 you can't do anything until it's too late.

I agree with the DS stuff, but i think unbreakable is fine. It's the combination of the 2 that makes my blood boil.

Rules are - 3 hooks and you are dead. Simple.

EMM - 1 hook and you will die... also it is a secret, so basically killer have one free kill before anyone will know ######### is going on. And good luck with those gens in 3 vs 1 match in sudden death mode. :)

Lets turn this around - why survivors dont have simple ultra rare offering "-1 gen to open gates". Already i can imagine killer topics about game breaking offering in games, where they fixed just one gen and escaped...

The survivor equivalent to moris are keys. I agree with your points but you can still get screwed over as killer.

  • Forgot to add, the hatch changes are just stupid. If you can get body blocked at the hatch you've already lost.

  • Please no, theres no way the devs could balance that well.

  • Sounds cool, but the devs can barely balance killers, I would scared to imagine what damage they would cause.

  • These seem way to drastic of changes for weird reasons. To start with freddy, I believe he should be changed in some way, but the changes you propose would gut him. The pyramid head changes are for tunnelers so why exactly you made them nerf people who don't tunnel is beyond me. As for Death slinger, some people aren't even sure if hes good in the first place, running his ability into the ground just isn't a good idea.

I feel like IT is a bit overrated. I love IT and it is one of my favourite books, but I don't think it's his best. My favourite aspect of IT is the macroverse and the turtle Maturin. The IT book is much better and more brutal than the movies though.

Thats fair, many people probably feel the same. it is undeniable that IT is the most popular work king has created though, with the exception of maybe the shining.

  • I'm not that big into king books if I'm honest. I've seen the IT movies and geralds game and thats it. So I have no opinion either way, but plenty of people would certainly be upset that we got something that wasn't IT.

  • Welcome! Its always nice to see a new face around here, unfortunately toxicity is a big issue here, hopefully the devs will find a way to fix it. Good luck with the grind, hope you get to red ranks soon!

  • I think all these could be cool, except one. Giving a killer an entirely different power because the old one was a little problematic just doesn't sit right with me. I would also prefer original F13, but thats opinion speak, so I won't bother.

It would be more similar to the Slender Man of the games. On Steam there is an official game of his that completely meets the requirements of the fanbase. There is also a excellent short Live Action on youtube (since all Slender Man films are horrible)

Fan Live Anction (9 min duration): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVGhsFqRN74&has_verified=1

  • I feel like it could work if done right, but this could use some tweaking. Also, what version of slenderman are we talking? Marble Hornets, Slenderverse, Games, Or Movie?

  • This thread went to ######### real fast lol. Can I just say this? FNAF either is or isn't kid friendly, its not up for debate. While stuff like the books and other is in the kids section of places, the content within it is most certainly not. Its like seeing children costumes of ghostface and jason at party city, albeit at a much grander scale. And to those acting like FNAF sucks and is the pinnacle of trash, congratulations thats your opinion, its fine if you don't like it but spamming the same arguments over and over is only contributing to the problem. And to that one guy who keeps spamming ######### for FNAF, other people just don't like it, you've had some arguments with people spamming points that don't work, but you've also been telling people their opinion is wrong for no reason other than because you don't agree with it. So can everyone do everyone a favor and Shut The Hell Up? Thank you.

I really hate it when people can't tell you a valid reason as to why "x side is stronger and needs a balance" or "X side is toxic but X side is fine" I'm just saying things based on my experience on this game.

I agree with the sentiment. It seems like a lot of people don't care about the other side and are ultra stubborn.

  • Out of curiosity, how long have you been playing and have you tried playing killer?

I'd rather they stay, doesn't bother me either way if 3 or even 4 survivors escape with a key or if I get mori'd. I like the kill animations, I haven't seen them all yet. Harder to do with DH totem and yes when you bring a mori its should be to have a bit of fun not to shelter a fractured ego for a past bad game. But hey I guess if the community takes issue with them they'll be changed eventually. I hope they don't remove them though.

They could be cool if reworked right, but most people aren't a fan of them as they are right now.

The other 2 are pretty balanced only being able to kill 1 survivor. I main killer and moris are fun af to use. But this being a rank game, I see it as unfair.
