I feel like you both assume that I'm at rank 15 and don't actually know how to play the game, but I've been playing for a little over a year now, watch streams and videos almost every day and very much know how the game works. All I'm saying is that, yes, I can agree with the OP that as of the event, killers in my matches are relentlessly tunneling the first person they find out of the game and it isn't very enjoyable, especially with these horribles hitboxes as of late. I played four games tonight and the tunnelling happened in all four. Twice to me, twice to my teammates.

And I really don't agree with the 'you're doing something wrong' theory. Because how can it be my fault if the killer decides to tunnel my teammate? Or is it my teammate's fault then? :^)

I kill who I see, often times that means tunneling the weakest link. If I see someone got unhooked and the person I just had on the hook is the easiest target I'm going for it. This leads to a lot of tunneling from me. I feel badly, but hey if they didn't want to get tunneled they shouldn't be the most obvious target.

Like being chased by a bear with a friend, "I don't need to outrun the bear, I need to outrun you."

Man... it wouldn't be broken at all. I would even argue that map wide broken totem aura reading wouldn't be broken.

I was thinking map wide would be nice but that may add too much visual clutter for the duration of an entire game. Like constantly seeing useless bones wherever you are may be aggravating? I have no idea.

  • I have gotten so many people angry so me because I lose my slugs entirely. I leave them there then someone else intervenes, so I get two slugs. Then it snowballs and by the time I hook the 3rd survivor I've lost the first two and can't find them anywhere.

I always feel so badly when they hit full bleed out.

The other day though I had to deliberately make someone bleed out. I picked one up on haddonfield. Immediately two body block me. I hit them both but I don't have time to get the hook anymore.

Drop the person, kill and hook the two body blockers and just wait. There was nothing else I could do. If I picked her up she would have struggled free basically instantly.

  • I've been playing Valheim and got into DjMax.

Had some time to play a game or two last night after everything and decided "nah. I'll pass. Just going to go to bed early."

Casual mindset. Personally I like playing against good players because playing against noobs makes me feel depressed knowing that my skill has been reduced, my energy is lowered due to the low effort gameplay, which will affect future matches in which there will be actually good teams.

That being said, this is the only game I've played in which players want to derank more than they want to rank up, and that's saying something.

I'm really not that good at the game, I only got as high rank as I was because of high playtime. I like playing against people that are decent but not so much so that I'm clearly outclassed in every way.

Gitting gud is not a high priority of mine. I'm trying to have fun, not get sweaty.

  • A few days ago I was rank 4, I am now at rank 12 and happily moving my way down to even lower ranks. I can finally play this game casually, and not get designated into super tryhard sweaty lobbies. This is absolutely an improvement.

  • I can't help but wonder if there is another easter egg there that isn't yet discovered. Anyone know if there are any leads to something in addition to this?

Killer main here, and that's an okay use as long as you didn't teabag during chase.

Ya know what would have been even cooler? Do the "come here" wave as if to say "come at me bro, just do it!". Honestly. I might just walk away from a survivor who did that when cornered lol

I might actually do that next time. See if I can't earn a second chance.

The other day my friend dropped their first aid kid right as the killer started their lunge, and it turned that from a hook to a hatch instantly. (Also I begged them in their t.tv too, but without that first aid kid it would've been a 4k >.>)

Teabagging isn't always about being a negative person or trying to hurt the killers' feelings. It's also a great strategy. If you need to know why, let me know. I'll explain. It's really simple, though.

I'm here to learn. Explain it to me baby.

    2nd thing...maybe 3rd.

first is A combo. a single combo that they will always try to repeat (I know it, because I do it 😂)

the other might be a full 2nd combo with ultimates or supers. or just a secondary end to the first combo.

and then yeah. frame data. 😁

For me it was "I can't get this combo consistently what is going on?"

"Oh it's a 2 frame combo... how is this a BNB?!"

Then I finally can do it like 10 times in a row, go online. Can't do it to save my life. Screw it I'm a living pinwheel.

  • Raccoon PD would absolutely have to be the map, OR the Spencer Estate. There's no other options. As much of a fangirl as I am for the entire series, with lots and lots of wonderful set pieces. There's just none that instill that fangasm as much as either of those locations do.

If I had to guess I'd say Racoon PD would more than likely be the map used. They LOVE revisiting Racoon PD. Over and over and over and over again. RE2 and 3, the remakes, Operation Racoon City, RE:Verse (Eugh) You get the point.

For Killer I'd love me some Mr. X but he's too tall for this game. There's no way they'd rework the maps specifically for him. Same thing with Nemesis. We can't do any of the monster mobs like Lickers, they're too brainless and not slasher material. For Killer I'd assume Lisa Trevor or Albert Wesker.

Albert Wesker is way too communicative, and OP by design so I don't know how they'll make him a killer in this game. (They could make it work though.) Lisa Trevor would be super dope and honestly right on course for DBD. I don't know if it has as much marketability since I fear a lot of fans who only played the games that weren't tank based movement would go "Who the eff is that?" I mean she wasn't even the main villain in her own game.

The killer I would hate to see in this game but one that would make total sense would be Jack Baker from RE7. He would fit in perfectly but I wouldn't want to really play as another chainsaw class.

For survivor I'd want Claire or Rebecca.

I'd say we're probably going to get Chris for the meme potential (Boulder Puncher) and because he's the OG survivor. Jill potentially, she is a great character but she's middle tier for me. (In Re3 Remake she had a healthy dose of PTSD though so that's fun!) I can't say we should expect to see Ada or Leon, they haven't really even had cameo's of either of then in RE7 or 8. For some reason they're really focusing on Chris.

I can't imagine Rebecca being the survivor because that isn't really as marketable, she only existed in RE0, 1 and Mercenaries Reunion.

Claire I'd want because... well Claire is the best! (Except Revelations 2. I hate how they retconned the ######### out of her character for Moira's sake.)

It would be really nice to clear the air like that. It's unfortunate however that, in my experience, even a positive emote can have it's meaning turned based on context or be used sarcastically. A wave emote would definitely be used as a 'Yoo-hoo! Over here dumbass!' towards a Killer or to try and point out another survivor to a Killer. A 'Sorry' could be used after you drop a pallet on a Killer... it's that sort of thing. Honestly the only game I've seen with non-toxic communication was Journey and that's because there's no PvP and all you can do is chirp.

You're not wrong about that, and I absolutely can guarantee it will be used like that. I'm sure there are some times it would be used in earnest, which is more times than exist now. A net positive I'd say.

Now the question is how to get the devs attention onto this suggestion. Impossible.

The only way I can really express gratitude / good will to a Killer before escaping is by leaving behind whatever item I have on hand. I so rarely bring in/get anything I would really miss, so it's nice to just leave it behind for them. Like a present!

I feel like adding gestures is a slippery slope. If they start adding dances then... the atmosphere is just gone. But a Thank You gesture would be lovely, not jsut for thanking Killers, but fellow Survivors who've helped you out too.

I feel like the right gestures would actually help eliminate toxicity in this game ever so slightly. Right now we have 'Are they being a douchebag?" as the kindest opinion, or "yeah they're being a total troll." as the worst. Besides dropping an item (Which isn't always an option.) there is no kindness.

I would love a 'good game' gesture, and maybe one that lets you beg for your life. Humbling yourself to a killer who is probably going to hook you anyways.

A wave emote, and maybe an "I'm sorry."

So many times I've accidentally sandbagged, or did something stupid I would love to offer a quick "Sorry!"

Sometimes you can't even tell where the other survivors heads are at, so that would also help build good faith with randoms mid-game.

  • @NickChinchill said:

Eh, I wouldn't find a stuck/doomed Survivor teabagging to be that offensive. There's only so many ways to express yourself in this game after all, although I am more familiar with friendly booping/pointing at a killer as a Survivor. That said it can be difficult to read intent at times and depending on how everyone else has been doing/the sort of day I've had, I might read it differently. Who knows?

I wouldn't really consider it toxic tho, since end of the day you still ended up hooked sot he Killer gets the satisfaction of thinking "haha, hoked the dumb git" and you get the feeling of "haha, I still got to say 'Sod You' before I died!"

Honestly we need other gestures in this game. All we can do is really teabag, run in circles, beckon and point. I would love to have a way of showing gratitude for a good game at the exit gates. As it stands right now you can't even show good faith as you leave, because some killers will see you standing at the exit gate waiting for them as a form of mockery.

At this point I don't even go to the exit gate if I know they're there. 9 times out of 10 they'll beckon, I'll walk up and they'll leave before I can get a hit in. Either that or they'll just spam tea bag and heal in front of me knowing if I walk up they'll leave.

Sometimes people will leave an item behind, but that's so rare it's not even worth it to see if someone does that.

  • Honestly anyone even at the lowest tier of competitive Street Fighter has to respect the frame data. That's like the first thing anyone who tries to git gud learns.

I get your analogy though. As someone who is garbage at Street Fighter but tries anyways I felt the need to say that.

  • Tunneled a guy yesterday.

He managed to get use out of borrowed time, decisive strike, dead hard, and unbreakable.

Still had him on death hook before the 3rd gen popped. Felt kind of badly, but they kept unhooking him within 5 seconds of me putting him on the hook, and he was always the first survivor I saw.

Easy victory from there. It's honestly making me consider tunneling as a valid tactic. When it works it snowballs pretty hard.

  • From 3 to 8. Loving it. By the end of this week I'm gonna be a total smurf without the new account.

  • Legion is a lot of fun. Even if you don't get everyone on death hook you often get a entity pleased because you stabbed everyone a ton.

  • I'm stupid. At the end of the day there's so much else I should do, so what's one more game. Might as well fire it up and see if I'm vibing it.

If you don't like the current state of the game, then don't play.

If you go into other people's match, and throw games nad disconnect and whatever else out of spite, you are the problem, no one and nothing else in that instance.

    That being said:

Note: I commend the survivors for not DCing when they saw what I was doing. It was not easy to make a 4-man slug army with everyone on death hook simultaneously. They kept insisting on reviving each other for some strange reason.

Yeah I mean what did you think was going to happen? God forbid they REVIVE each other right? What kinda entitled logic is that.

That entitled logic was my attempt at making a joke. Y'know, trying to be funny and all.

Oh yeah, after playing a bit more with the new UI I noticed 2 EXTREMELY bad new downsides compared to the previous one.

    1) Now that the hook bar (or bleeding bar on the ground) isn't centered under the portrait anymore, it's way harder to guess where the 2nd hook stage is.

    2) Now that your bleeding bar is on the top right corner, far away from everything, it's pretty easy to forget (or even just not notice) that you have the deep wound status effect (didn't it used to have an bloody overlay on the screen too?

I got downed by a deepwound from a borrowed time, because the chased took almost 5 minutes and I just totally forgot that I was still in deepwound state. This is bad. Real BAD.

I suddenly want to play Legion.

  • I learned to not fear the toxicity, instead I live for it. Their anger and hate fuels my desire to kill.

Trying to play this game without any toxicity is like going outside in the rain without an umbrella and hoping you won't get wet. You will.

People will be toxic no matter what. Even if you chased one looper on wraith without using any perks or power and didn't get a single hook, people will still insult you on the way out.

It's part of the scenery. Enjoy it. Learn to love it and laugh. Otherwise it's going to be a very uncomfortable time for you.

  • Yesterday during a game it got to the point where there were two left. I slugged a bill and then looked for the other guy who I hadn't even seen the entire game. Bill unbreakabled and I downed him again, kept looking for the other guy.

Found him right before bill bled out all the way hiding in a bush next to a far corner on the map. In the post game I saw he had almost no points except for alturism and boldness. I have no idea what he did for that entire game, just wait for hatch? I don't think he spent a single second on a genny.

Anyways I blame that guy for letting the match hang on for so long.

Believe me, I understand. I never get mad at the Killers; they are just doing their job. It is my teammates that push my buttons (all the time). Some of them are so dumb that I start to suspect they MUST be working with the Killer. My logic is nobody in the Red/Purple Ranks can be this brain dead. And sometimes the paranoid part of me suspects they must be using hacks because nobody that idiotic could have earned the Rank they hold.

Still, when I do a review of the videos I record of my games, and study my own performance, I find that I'm not near as good (or innocent) as I initially thought. I find that a few hours distance and a video to study what I did wrong is very healthy for perspective. I still see people doing idiotic things that trigger me, but I'm able to put it in a healthy context, i.e. what could "I" have done to do better in that game. Control the things you can control, and don't let the things beyond your control destroy your emotional balance. I can't claim credit for the sage wisdom; I got it from an Otz video.

Trust me. I keep floating between low red/high purple. I shouldn't be here at all. The game insists on putting me here. I'm so bad at this game.

  • Recently I had a meg stand right by the generator, not working on it, but just kind of staring at it like she was getting ready to run. Then after like 30 seconds the killer showed up and she cheesed it out of there.

    She made fantastic bait though.

Sure, I'm well aware that it was down to my own skill I lost that match as Demo. Also I will acknowledge these survivors are likely to have 100s if not 1000s of hours more than me, I only started playing this game in October, and I'm aware it has some old timers.

Well I've really enjoyed my first two games with her. It feels like you're actually a powerful/scary killer for a change, when you often feel powerless against good loopers.

Yeah now you've got me really interested. I'd give it a shot. I've been playing Legion these days, sounds like a nice change of pace. As Legion I'm not very scary, I just stab stab stab.

She’s not brain dead but she is less skilful than most killers since all you need is good hearing and headphones to do decently with her

Huh. I have a DAC/Amp with a decent set of entry level audiophille headphones. Might be fun to actually use them for more than listening to FLAC files and pretending I can actually hear a difference. I'll give her a shot.

  • Is spirit really that easy to pick up?

  • Set a goal for yourself, a personal win condition. It doesn't have to be 4 kills or even 1 kill. Look at legion, she doesn't have to kill anyone to get a good score.

Maybe you can go in and make it a simple personal goal. Like getting two down at the same time. Having one chase last less than 30 seconds. Getting at least two people to struggle.

That way you can always leave a game saying "hey I could have done better but I did exactly what I came for."

Accept that they're being toxic, but hey if you won in your own way who cares about them being little shits.

If you can't reach your personal goal that's fine too. You can never win every game and you'll get better next time. Hell feel free to make a new "I won" goal in the middle of the game. The point is to have fun. Whatever that means to you.

    Best of luck!

What doesn't make Haddonfield bad? It's one of the most hated killer maps atm.

Got it! It's not important that I know how to use or abuse any of these things anyways. It's just important for the killer to believe I know what I'm doing and will use it to the full extent possible.

I played a game earlier where the person tunneled me and called me trash, just for having OoS. This was my first day running it. So that was pretty exciting! I feel like a tourist, finally seeing the toxicity I've heard so much about!

Noo, that is OoO. Let's take a moment to pray for the killers that go against this person.

I had borrowed time but when one perk had to make the sacrifice to become the OoO I decided that removing BT was the absolute most self-centered decision I could have made. Sacrifice altruism for self resilience.

    @Karao_Ke said:

  • I hate the change honestly, but I'm also not top tier in the ranks and play with 1 friend when I do play. I feel like decisive strike wasn't overpowered at all, and in some cases was just enough to make a small difference. Other times it just kept the chase going for one more tile then I died anyways.

I feel like if they're going to make this change they should at least make it a guaranteed hit. The skill check is too hard, and now it's adding conditions to activate on top of already limiting conditions. If it's going the way of meme perk it's the least they can do to make it a guarantee.

  • Yesterday I was playing survivors with 1 friend and two randoms. We had a good match and in the end still managed to have the gate opened with four of us alive with one of the randoms on a hook.

Me and my friend discussed our odds very briefly and decided, "Yeah we can save him."

We approach the hook carefully as the killer stays rigidly close to hooked survivor. He clearly knows from the fact we haven't left yet that we're going to try a desperate final rescue. He has no intention of losing his kill and would love nothing more than to give the entity more sacrifices.

    Mission Start!

I grab the killers attention for a moment, make it look like I'm going for the save. He takes the bait. Just as there's enough distance between the hook and the killer my friend leaps into action from behind a rock and gets the guy off the hook. As the random gets unhooked the killer spins around and closes the gap between them quicker than expected. I standby at a safeish distance to make sure there's no hitch. The killer swings at the random, borrowed time procs and we all get to go home for dinner, right?

Well no. My friend does a 180 and stands under the hook.

    "What are you doing?"

    "Giving him a kill."

    "Why?"

    "Showing respect."

    "Well alright then." I respond.

We get to the gate, hear the scream, blood warden procs.

"You son of a ######### you doomed us all!" I call out to them.

    "What?"

    "Blood Warden!"

"I did nothing wrong." They claim defiantly, "You should have run faster!"

    -

    We didn't troll or bully.

The killer saw us all stuck at the gate and did that little nod/spin thing that I took as laughter at our misfortune. They were nice though and let us three escape. Waited out the blood warden and watched us depart. Guess it was my lucky day.

  • It absolutely depends on the writer. Both have world shattering Eldritch properties about them. The entity can theoretically keep putting Chara in an endless gamut until she dies, but Chara can keep reloading fueled by determination for the same length.

I imagine the entity doesn't necessarily grow in power and knowledge as time progresses, wheras Chara absolutely will keep learning and leveling. (Fundamental difference between horror antagonist versus RPG protagonist really.) So I can see Chara winning, assuming the entity is something that can be found and physically killed in some way shape or form. If it doesn't have a physically accessible or inurable form then nobody really 'wins' unless the entity gets bored of Chara and does some eldritch stuff to stasis her eternally. (Because once she dies, reload time.)

If it can be killed and if it can be accessed through mortal means Chara would one-shot it, not because she's super strong, but because as defined in her universe that's kind of her power. One shotting things.

The issue is you may not be able to hit DS but a #@$% ton of other people never miss. No offense intended but this is why you shouldn't balance the game around new or bad players.

Forgive me for saying, doesn't that kind of lean into what I said at the start? That for killers it always feel like 100% even if it isn't.
