    Whatever build you want.

But if you're looking for a build that's specifically to make use of auras and lethal.

Bbq, lethal, floods of rage, 4th perk of your choosing. With compound 21

Blight takes advantage of the initial lethal. Takes advtange of bbq. Takes advantage of compound 21.

That sounds really fun lol, will try it out thank you!

Killers who are very mobile/ranged tend to get the most use out of it. The close range aura perks are great for mind gaming but typically have long cooldowns to balance them out. The longer range aura perks tend to have no cooldowns/much less restrictive.

What balances that out is it's useless on most killers, a trapper knowing you're cross map is useful but he can't do much with that info. Nurse/blight/dredge/sadako/Freddy/demo/huntress can actually hurt you/get right on top of you quickly with that info.

I love playing dredge with lethal + bbq + darkness revealed + use whatever you want(I like franklin's). You can also combo it with his addon aura reveals and you have wall hacks for days

I'll test that Dredge build as well..

It's currently turned off in the Live Build, but it'll show an icon next to the "Play as Survivor" or "Play as Killer" buttons in the main menu when it's reenabled in 6.2.0 (hopefully).

Oh, I see, thank you very much!

  • I would really love to see a bloodpoint grind adjustment, something so it doesn't literally take ages to just unlock the perks that I want to use on Killers spefically at least.

I think I have almost every single Teachable Killer Perk, so whenever there is a build I want to try out, I know that it is going to take forever to test it out, unless I have miraculously good RNG, which has not yet happened to me once yet.. it's literally ALMOST as if the game itself knows EXACTLY which perks I am trying to unlock and does everything it can to avoid giving them to me..

The biggest issue is that most perks aren't really that great on every killer, so let's say hypothetically there are like 4-5 different perk builds that will be actually viable on a specific Killer, and every other perk that you are forced to unlock is NEVER getting touched, it's just there to eat up bloodpoints..

I'm used to this by now, many years into the game, but honestly think about how horrible of a system this really is? It's painful, tedious, annoying, there's almost nothing that I like about it.

I can literally think of so many ways to make it better and more streamlined, I'm not sure how difficult my ideas would be to implement, and there are probably even better ones than my own, but I know for a fact that almost anything would be better than the system we have in place now as far as unlocking perks, especially if you have a lot of Teachables unlocked.

It's almost as if the game is punishing you for having more teachables, when it should be a good thing instead!

Isn´t that how its right now? I remember someone losing 50 matches in a row, while learning a new killer.

Yeah... Idk what other people's experience is but I can surely tell you that when I play new killers or killers that I haven't tried before, I still end up facing really competitive survivor teams quite regularly.

Often with full meta perks, everyone has DH of course, knows how to loop, and quite often Red Rank 1 so they play a lot more than I do lol

It really doesn't seem to matter which Killer I play or how much experience I have on them, most of the time.

Just the fact ruin can be taken out quickly

also you can combine Brine and pop and use them at the same time feels nice.

The only downside is having to kick a gen but alot of time i see it as worth it with mini ruin

I've been using it with PGTW and Brutal Strength, it is truly pretty fun. If you can manage to get a 3gen situation, you basically automatically win.

That being said, good survivors know how to repair gens to prevent that, and also, you DO still have to go up and kick the damn gens, which is only convenient if they are near you - but if you are chasing across the map, it doesn't do you much good cause they will pop it before you get to them.

I think my current favorite build for killer in general is Hook Pain, Hook Tides/Flood, Agitation, Dead mans switch.. that allows you to regress gens that are actually across the map no matter where you hook or down, and know exactly where the players are.. that has a counter as well, if survivors were smart they could literally just stop repairing the gen before you hook, but otherwise it works great.

I'm using Brine, PGTW, Brutal Strength, Plaything as another build that I have fun with though - it requires more work, but it can be very effective.. both of them have solid counters though, as it should be.

I didn't have a good time in any of these tests, i came back to play exclusively for them and to give feedback, it will do nothing because is bhvr, but i still have hope something will be done.

I'm curious what they end up telling us when the tests are over because so far they got like 80% of the feedback negative.

MMR based on ranks was so much better.. can't believe this game is dying and don't admit is because of Sbmm, yes, keep nerfing coh, for sure the playerbase will stop decreasing cuz of it and Sbmm is not the main issue.. smh

I do personally think that balancing a fair way for matchmaking "MMR" is probably challenging for this game, as there are so many components to consider and the whole 4v1 difference is certainly more complicated than for a typical other game that might be 3v3 or 5v5 etc..

I'm not 100% sure what the best way to do it would be, and neither are they, so they are trying, I respect that..

I just know that it's mainly gotten downhill and these tests sort of prove that. I hope they come up with a better solution.

While I am sure there would be OTHER problems that rise from this as well, I do think that somehow creating a system where MMR is calculated more on how many times each survivors was "hooked" by the Killer, it would still be better than using Kills/Escapes.

While I agree that Hooks are not the end all, and can inflate stats as well by tunneling or camping, I still think "Hooks" are a more accurate representation than Kills...

I also believe that Killers should have a deteriorating MMR or a MUCH lower set base MMR on newer Killers / Killers that they don't play as much or often. Playing Survivor is always going to be exactly the same, so it doesn't really matter which Survivor you play, but playing Killer is vastly different...

    Examples:

Killers MMR per each Killer should start very low, and maybe for every 2 weeks you don't play a certain killer it gradually decreases over time.

Also, in that regard, Killers MMR should fluctuate more rapidly than Survivors, if a Killer gets a 4K (because its MMR vs 4 ppl) and lets say 12 hooks, they should actually jump up HUGE amounts of MMR, similarly if they get 0K they should drop HUGE amounts, so that their next game ends up being significantly easier.

Killer Addons being used should AlSO effect MMR, so like if the Killer is using no addons or brown addons they should be at their flat base MMR, but yellow/green addons should increase MMR x amount, and purple/pink addons should increase MMR even more x amount.. so that way depending on what level addons they are bringing they will be more in line with the team that they are facing...

Similarly, Survivors ITEMS should ALSO inflate their own personal MMR as well, for example if they are bringing 0 items to the match, = flat base MMR, but if they bring higher tier items then their MMR also increases just like killers.. etc

*IF THAT MEANS HAVING TO LOCK IN ITEMS/ADDONS BEFORE WE READY UP I AM OKAY WITH THAT*

These are just some suggestions on how to make MMR more balanced for matchmaking in my opinion. But in a game like this where there are so many variables, the only way for it to be successful is with complicated solutions unfortunately, and probably a lot of hard work - which in the end would end up being worth it because it would make it a better experience for the players!

  • @Mandy said:

Currently we're testing different things with MMR - it's different each day, hence our feedback section for this has a daily post to get the feedback from that day only, to help with keeping track of it.

Ah okay I understand, darn, I didn't realize that.. I had my 30 games spread out over a course of multiple evenings.

Around 10 games per night, that being said, the experience didn't really change much for me any of the nights, it all felt really bad and the teams I was going up against were way out of my league.

PERHAPS on my *best of the best* top killer I could get a 4K on them if I play without making any mistakes lol

I'm sorry i didn't read the whole thing but i read a lot of you being out of the loop and not really knowing whats going on but still disagree with whatever is happening? That sounds weird to me but ok.. This is just a test, IDK if that video or you being in the forums noticed that they are actually asking for feedback and reading all of them, i'd suggest you post your experience there, in the right area of the forum.

The more you help with the test and hones feedback the more they can help

Oh snap, wait, I can actually give feedback!? That would be wonderful, I can be more constructive if I know there is a place they are asking for it. I only know there are things being tested, but so far the results for me personally have been SO insanely bad that it ended up making me have to come to the Forums to write an essay about it.. which is something I very rarely do, but I am passionate about how terrible my Matchmaking has been since these tests began.

I think what scared me and somewhat tilted me, was reading people's comments on YouTube state how they are "loving it" and "happy the devs finally listening to the community" and yet for some reason I'm over here losing my mind against some of the hardest Survivors I have ever played against while trying to learn Sadako.

Ever since MMR has come out it has just destroyed any joy I find in DBD. Constantly, in every single one of my matches, I am always getting paired up against extremely sweaty players and I don't mind going up against sweaty players but when it's EVERY single match, it gets so exhausting. It doesn't help that in high MMR everyone is always running the same extremely overpowered meta build and frustrating play styles such as COH, DH, UB, or a bunch of slowdown perks with strong add-ons and tunneling/camping. As a survivor, all of my matches feel so frustrating because of me having to constantly go up against killers that I really don't enjoy using strategies that I also really hate while for killer I'm constantly forced to play Killers that are extremely good at camping (Trickster) or Killers that are extremely powerful (Blight, Artist, or IMO Pinhead.)

Seriously, how am I supposed to have fun with DBD? Even with a SWF or even if I win a Killer match I still don't enjoy DBD. If anyone still finds this game fun, please tell me how you're still able to find this game fun with everything that I mentioned.

This is the exact reason that I seem to have been taking longer and longer breaks from the game.

I don't know why, but even when I completely lose multiple games in a row, it doesn't seem to change my MMR, I just keep getting matched against the same type of really hardcore players, that honestly as it turns out are significantly better than me (Unless I'm playing at my absolute best on my best character) so yeah it gets boring really fast.

I enjoy a challenge, and I prefer CLOSE matches where I have to fight for the win, and even then if I lose I don't mind because it was close... but when I keep facing teams as Killer that have 4 escapes and only like 3-4 total hooks in a row, or being the first one to die as a Survivor multiple matches back to back.. it drains me so much, I don't have any urge to log back in again.

  • @Pulsar said:

I've heard a lot about Hunt. Some of my DBD friends left DBD for it too. I might check it out if it goes on sale.

As to your point with games, in the span of three days, I lost 30 games with Nurse and then got facecamped for most of the night.

Trust me, my games are pretty garbage.

Man, I was literally considering making a post about this, but I guess you already did in your own way!

I've been playing DBD off and on for years now, a very long time, usually with only few month breaks in between. I keep coming back, and I probably will continue to do so, but one of the things that has happened recently is EVERY TIME I try to come back to the game (after a week break or a month break) no matter whether I play Killer or Survivor, I just CONSTANTLY LOSE.

I don't even understand why, could it possibly be MMR? Why is my MMR so damn high? Why is it that I can't get a single Kill or Escape, I was never a very good Survivor, although I've reached Rank 1 before in the old system, but I was actually a very good Rank 1 Killer that used to get 4K's so often that I actually got bored of the game because it was too easy at times...

Anyways, now it's impossible, and losing OVER and OVER again, without really ever having a successful victory experience, has made me want to log in less and less... just earlier tonight I felt like there is really absolutely no reason for me to log in anymore because I just don't foresee myself getting a win anytime soon and it's not that I HAVE to win in order to have fun, but these matches are ROUGH.

As Killer, its often 0K with only like 3-4 hooks all game, with bodyblocking teams and flashlights and who knows what else.

As Survivor, its often camping/tunneling killers that don't even let me play the game, or survivor teammates that leave me to die on hook even when its my first one.

I just don't get it, it definitely used to not be this way, and to be honest for quite a while MMR seemed to be working fine for me and I was truly getting balanced matches, really for a while, but as of late IDK what's going on but I can't seem to get a single fair match that is any fun for me .. so yeah I'll be taking a break from DBD as well for a while I think.. you are not alone my friend!

If it is MMR, I don't understand why my MMR isn't dropping after countless losses, and howcome I am still facing the same issues in matches over and over again.

I would LOVE for DBD to be fun and exciting again, and some of the new perk changes give me hope randomly at times, but the gameplay every time I try to give it another shot is just miserable lately, for me at least.

When the pvp is as shallow and boring like it was in Dark Souls 3, people will drop the pvp part really quick.

I just hope there will be more build variety like there was in Dark Souls 2.

I've never played Dark Souls because it always looked super boring to me, and more "single player", but uhh, Elden Ring actually looked really cool, so now I'm starting to worry that it's going to be boring and similar to Dark Souls, I had no idea they were related, until reading up on it now.

Otz literally still does challenge runs in Dark Souls games and practiced an absurd amount of time for Dark Souls II no-hit runs. It also has PVP which will keep people like tru3 and I occupied for a long time. But like I said, probably not permanent and no one is pretending everyone is permanently leaving.

I'm certainly interested in the PVP aspect of it.. I had no idea until I just started reading this thread lol.

lol I've been trying most of your guys' builds in this Thread, including one I made on my own with Iron Will instead of Breakout that works quite well..

But even after 15 matches I still haven't been able to get a SINGLE Successful Mettle of Man :(

It's Sooooo hard.. I even try to use toolbox to get hook right in front of them or body block..

I got really close ONE match, I was 1 hit away from triggering MoM but we won before I could..

Every match I either Escape before I can get it to Trigger, or I am the one that gets Tunneled/Facecamped and it doesn't do me any good at all lol.

  • @DemonDaddy said:

Would have no negative effect with camping or tunneling. If your camped or tunneled then the killer isn't switching targets anyway.

It would help killers that actually go for chases and against teams that run the same outfits.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/301826/are-killers-actually-punished-for-camping

All games as Bubba? That would skew your results a bit, as not all campers play Bubba, and it's common knowledge that his camping is several orders of magnitude stronger than any other killer. You will have to get your MMR on Bubba very high before you meet the teams that just loop you infinitely and bang out the gens before you get a hook, but if you're as inexperienced with Bubba as you say, and you keep playing him, you -will- meet those teams.

EDIT: That's if MMR is still active, many people on the forums have been sharing their suspicions that it is not.

True its a good point, he basically said that he's newer to bubba, of course camping is going to work against Solo Q new survivors, wait until you get high MMR and then test it and see how effective it really is.. I'm sure the results will be quite different lol.

  • @Munqaxus said:

There's a lot of players on these boards that say Killers get punished by camping by not getting Kills. It seems like a majority believe that camping will net you on average, about 1 kill, while the other 3 survivors escape.

Since I like date, I thought I would test this hypothesis by doing 10 camping-killer games a night and showing the data I got. (There is 1 caveat, if there is a hatch escape without all 5 gens being done I count that as a kill. So far I've only had 1 of these happen).

Here's my data for night 1. I am, of course, playing Leatherface.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/TZ85PMV40IX2/image.png

As you can see, as a camping-killer, I'm getting on average about 3.3 kills a game. I don't really feel like I've been punished at all for camping with kill rate of 82.50%.

(I'll add 10 more games tomorrow night for more accurate stats and will probably get up to about 50 games, depending on if I can handle the boredom).

I think you said the TRUE punishment of it all at the end of your statement..

"if you can handle the boredom"

IT IS EXTREMELY BORING TO CAMP. I mean, I literally tried it 1 single time in my life when I was still a new player, and I hated it so much I never bothered again.

The TRUE punishment above all else is Boredom.

If the purpose of playing a "video game" of any sort, is for entertainment, something to enjoy with your time (mind you that for many people time is a very valuable thing and not everyone has lots of extra time to spare for video games to begin with) .. then camping quite literally defeats the purpose of even playing a game at all whatsoever.

    Technically, you're hardly playing.

I truly believe that the people who camp are the type of people who don't actually enjoy playing video games for games but rather for the purpose of harrassing other humans online, kind of like internet trolls, or people who care so much about trying to "get kills" in a competitive setting that they would rather give up actual fun, for the "Fun" of getting a gauranteed kill.

The interesting thing about that, is that if they would actually just take the time to get better at the game, they would be able to secure just as many kills if not more on average playing normal without camping or tunneling. It just require more practice, but its well worth it in the end if you plan to continue playing the game.

I am a Killer, I never camp or tunnel, and yeah when I face really strong sweaty survivor teams I get rocked from time to time w/ 4 escapes and it can be very unfun especially if they BM me and bodyblock hooks and use flashlights and firecrackers etc, but on average I have always gotten at least a 2K or more without relying on those methods and just playing the game normally.

It's just fun, if it wasn't then I wouldn't play, and often times as soon as I have a bad game and am no longer having fun, I just log off and stop anyways. Similarly, I often log off if my matches are too easy as well, because that's boring too lets be honest.

They should do something because I've been denied so many grabs and got nothing for it. They said they made it so if a grab is canceled it would count as a hit and I can't count how many times I've had a grab canceled and got nothing for it.

Same, but part of the problem is that it doesn't actually "Count" as a hit, you still have to hit and land the swing - often times the stupid Auto Aim just makes you hit the Generator they were working on and they run off uninjured lol

  • I mean, this should really be a thing now that pallets and DH is...

  • @Pizzasauce said:

I am over it. I don't care how insignificant t-bagging is to you, the fact is, you still do it. "But Pizza they're just crouching that shouldn't bother you!" And you're right inner voice! But it does. It bothers me a lot. And what really sucks is you never know who's going to do it. You could have the most polite well behaved players in game but when they get to that exit gate they can't help themselves. "F-you" they seem to say, before I chase them out.

The last thing I want to be is a cliche. I don’t want to continue the circle of toxicity. But from now on you're getting the full wrath of my power. I'm not going to meme around. I'm not going to give up the hatch. And you can thank your fellow douchebag survivors for that.

You wanna know something funny? When I know the Survivors are waiting to T-Bag me at the exit gates cause they played well and beat me, I don't even bother giving them the pleasure, normally I just go around and find Pallets to break that I haven't kicked yet, or breakable walls, anything to get myself a little extra BP in the time being, maybe go close hatch if its open, etc.

They are literally just wasting their time knowing they are going to leave the match as soon as they get a chance to T-bag me, so I turn it around on them and waste their time, I never show up, I just do my own thing until they finally leave.

BTW YOU WOULD BE AMAZED at how long they will wait sometime lol. I've had a few wait so long that I actually thought there was a chance they might suicide and let the entity kill them with the EGC timer running out XD haha.. kind of fun to test their patience with it.

Then you notice when he checks maintain aspect ratio it stays the same size regardless

That's all they would have to do to fix it

Hmm, I guess it was difficult to understand what was happening visually, but I don't really understand this kind of stuff too well.. Thank you for explaining, though I must ask, was what he was showing really THAT funny?

  • She's really challenging to play well, I've had a few great matches, but good Survivors can make a chase last forever..

I would honestly rather play Nurse if I'm going to challenge myself, at least Nurse has potential against high MMR. I don't see how Artist does, unless you are like a god on her.

I do have to admit, I'm not really having an enjoyable time though.

    Same.

Although I would actually be playing more Survivor if the Qeues weren't so damn long, it's easily 5min no matter what time of day/night I try for me, I've seen people claim they still get instant Survivor qeues but I personally have not seen it in a very long time.

That alone I feel like is some evidence that there is a lack of Killers playing DBD right now..

  • I also enjoy the added vault speed increase of Bamboozle ^^

T-1000 would be a good choice, because of its morphing power, not only in the ability to change into people, but also the ability to create weapons out of its body.

Having the killer temporarily take the form of a survivor to get close (not as in do survivor actions, but to approach maybe as any survivor not within the terror radius at time of morphing, just to drop the radius and get closer without being immediately outted), and also with an ability to maybe use a close-up attack with maybe a bit more range and a unique effect, could make for a decent killer.

That's kind of the shapeshifter idea I had, love it!

  • @BenihimeWrath said:

Should be baseline, the only difference in the Hex and normal gameplay is that the Hex does it automatically and a generator doesn't need to be damaged.

Corrupt becomes a 'slow start' mechanic that prevents survivors from getting 3 free gens while a killer is still looking around.

Higher regression allows for more back and forth between killer and survivor, gen speeds no longer a problem anymore and they weren't made just flat out longer for more boring M1 gameplay. And killers aren't forced to run 4 regression/gen defense perks to do anything worthwhile.

Edit to clarify: I'm only suggesting that base regression be the same as Ruin, Ruin as a hex would still be needed to make generators *automatically regress*

I actually agree with most of what has been said in this thread...

For example, I also agree that Survivors should have DS / BT basekit, as a Killer I already play as if I was expecting DS/BT on every Survivor because you just don't know for sure, so I never swing at Survivors that just got unhooked and I always chase the Unhooker.. so honestly for me personally it wouldn't even make any difference at all because I just assume every Survivor is running it whether they are or not, and I think that's fine.

But as a Killer I do think we need stronger regression so that Kicking a Gen is actually worth it, first and foremost, cause as of now it's usually a complete waste of time - and I also believe that the early game is way too unfair for most Killers and while I don't think that anything like Lethal Pursuer should be basekit, something more similar to Corrupt Intervention honestly should be!

So yeah, both sides could benefit from some basekit perks for sure that would allow players to have more fun bringing other builds and perks to the match without having to rely so heavily on the few that make such a huge difference.

On a side note - I actually don't play with DS/BT on Survivor usually (unless I wanna go super sweat mode but its not that fun to play) and I also don't use Ruin or Corrupted on Killer lol.

I do fine without using these perks, but it doesn't mean that I don't think they should be added to the base kit for quality of life improvements to the game.

  • @Exxodus21 said:

This type of play shouldn't be possible in the game. It doesn't matter that "not every swf is like this". If you pay 10 games and 2 of those matches are like this, you're probably done with the game for the day, which is why survivor queue times are horrendous these days.

No counter play at all. Over use of the "tactical" flashlight macro spam, "non-game changing" boons, loops that are too strong, etc.

I can't imagine new players sticking with the game if this type of play is allowed to persist.

Honestly the Flashlight saves from Locker Grabs are a little ridiculous.. that really shouldn't be a thing, it was clearly abused in this video!

It seems to be a general consensus beetween killer players that CoH is difficult to deal with. But what about its sibling, Shadow Step? Is it hard for you to handle it? Does it encourage a camping strategy?

Depends on the map... as others have mentioned, indoor maps and playing Nurse it can be a nightmare -

I once faced a team where the Survivors kept Shadowstep up 100% of the time in multiple locations with the RPD Offering.. AND I happened to be Nurse,

It was literally the biggest nightmare of a match that I have ever had, I've never lost Survivors so much in my life, it was super rough and quite honest it felt really unfair to play against lol.

Aim dressing is incredibly bad (And I am 100% positive it'll end lunges early if it thinks it'll hit so I've missed lunges because it just ended randomly)

I agree completely, I wish this feature was disabled 100%

  • I think this question would be more appropriate if it was a 4v1 (4 of yourself) in the scenario.

  • In the very beginning I would follow the "Unhook" action suggested by the game on my very first Hook and always Kill myself, and I never understood why, it took me FOREVER to realize that you aren't actually supposed to press anything and it's better to just hang there.

Since then they've changed the wording a bit, but I remember the way it was it was very safe to assume that you were supposed to try and unhook yourself lol.

This is my experience in NA too.

Survivor queues are instant in the day with killer taking a few minutes to get a queue for, whereas it's instant for killer at night and takes forever as a survivor at night as well.

    Same usually.

"SBMM" is really bad. Most of the times i carry the team or die with the most BP to just get more potatoes the next match. The devs crearly don't have a clue on how to measure players skill to make a proper MM. As always solo q is in the ######### while SWF with boons and DH "fixed" dance in killers graves.

    Lol this is pretty accurate.

SWF definitely dances on killers graves..

Solo Q is definitely a true hell lol

  • @ThiccBudhha said:

In my death squad SWF (just kidding, we are anything but), we all (3 players) escape pretty often. Or more accurately would, if I wanted to. I usually just give the killer a kill. Maybe four out of five games are potential escapes.

Solo queue, I am not going to lie, it is really bad. Like, maybe one in three games I can escape.

I was wondering what Solo Q was for you, cause for me 1 in 10 games escape lol.

  • @Zozzy said:

SWF survivor trumps killer. Killer trumps solo survivor. I thought this was well known.

This exactly how I feel for sure ^^

    Hey all!

in case you've missed it, i've made a Poll the other day about whether the community likes or dislikes the MMR system in order to see how the view of the community has changed (or not changed) between the latest MMR test run (with MMR being a rather controversial topic) and now after its full release.

as of right now, it is quite clear that there is a rather big dislike for the MMR system (of course my poll cant speak for the whole community, but thats the trend i have been noticing with, at this point in time, 70% of people saying they dislike it)

however, this post isnt for those people. This is for the 25% that did say they liked it, because i have a genuine question to you.

So if you dislike the MMR system, you do not need to bother with replying. This isnt meant to be a discussion to determine whether someone is right or wrong, whether the MMR system is good or not - we already have plenty of those. This is just me asking a question, hoping to get some more elaboration on the topic.

enough of that, lets get on with the question:

the most common response i saw from people who said they think "MMR is a good addition to DbD" was, that, while they do not think it is a perfect system yet, they do view it as a better system than the old Emblem system was.

Now my question to you is:

    what makes you say that?

because personally i just can not understand this argument.

in my opinion, the MMR system is actually quite inferior to the old Emblem system - my argument for that being the following:

MMR not only fails at determining an individuals actual skill level, it actually never even tries to. all MMR is looking at to determine who wins and who loses MMR points is the final result of the game; in other words, all it cares about is whether someone escaped or not.

This means that it does not matter how you played in game, if you make it out it is counted as a win, while if you died at any point in time it is counted as a loss - the most glaring issue with this philosophy is, that the final outcome of the match absolutely doesnt stand in any correlation to how good you actually are at this game. Lets just say you were the absolute MVP during your last trial - you did 2 to 3 gens on your own, went for a couple of really clutch saves and kept the Killer busy in a chase until the last few gens got done too, but then got downed right at the end with the Killer making sure you die on hook. Does this make you a bad player? Does this mean you played worse than the 3 people that made it out or even the Killer in that matter? I dont think so - but MMR does.

And this is where i believe the old Emblem system to be way more advanced that the current MMR system is, because in that system the ultimate outcome of the match was only one of four overall factors that went into determining your score, instead of being the sole one. In the Emblem system the game at least tried (im not saying it was particularly good at it, but at least it actually tried) to judge you based on your actions ingame, meaning that, at least in my eyes, the Emblem system did a significantly better job at actually determining someones skill level in direct comparison to MMR.

the same applies to Killer btw - the Emblem system actively rewarded you for playing well and giving Survivors a multitude of second chances, to ensure that you couldnt just hook someone, camp them to death and then get a NOED strike on someone else and repeat the same - if you did that then you would be severely punished by the system due to you not engaging in many chases (even losing points in this category due to a camping penalty), not defending your gens, not injuring many people and not achieving many hooks either. MMR on the other hand only looks at the overall outcome of the match, meaning if you just do that exact same thing, MMR is actually going to reward you for it, due to you achieving 2 kills over someone who played fair and, lets say, only got 1 kill but had the others on deathhook.

In other words, the Emblem system actually tried to get Killers to play in a way that Survivors would enjoy, instead of taking the safest and most boring way possible - while MMR does nothing of the sort and actually encourages this behaviour by Killers.

but maybe i'm just missing something here, something that gives the MMR system a clear edge over the Emblem system, something that the MMR system can achieve which was entirely impossible for the Emblem system to ever get right, which is why i made this post to ask you all to elaborate on your previous statement a bit more, so i can understand where you are comming from with it.

    thank you for replying!

My Matches on BOTH Survivor and Killer have become significantly harder, "more sweaty", and difficult ever since the MMR update.

I guess that just means that I'm being placed against more people around my skill level or better than me now?

I'm honestly having quite a bit less "Fun" - however, I have noticed that it is actually MAKING me a better Killer and/or Survivor.

My skill level has improved significantly ever since the MMR update, and I'm starting to learn new Killers even faster than I ever have before because of the increased challenge and difficulty.

I think that MMR is at least working closer to keeping matches "FAIR" than the system before did. My matches seem more "Fair" generally speaking because I know that I'm a good Killer so if I want to secure even 1 Kill I have to try my hardest and not make any mistakes because of the Survivors that I face... is it always fun? Hell no, it's a pain in the ass and very stressful, it's actually made me start playing the game less.. BUT it FEELS Fair to me, and when I play I ALWAYS have a challenge, and I don't always end up securing 1-2K but often I do and I can feel myself improving and playing better/smarter.

It's a very interesting dilemma because in 1 part it seems unhealthy for the game, and in another exact opposite part it feels like the healthiest thing that's ever happened to the game.

Sure, did I enjoy logging in and having super easy / chill games to mess around randomly "for fun" before? Yeah, I did, and I lost that with MMR it has not even happened ONCE yet since the system was placed in, however, those games were UNFAIR for the people I played against - and arguably because of the lack of challenge they could have been considered "boring" if I was actually looking for a better challenge instead.

I think MMR is BETTER overall for players that want to play fair matches and play more competitively and actually improve their own gameplay rather than just enjoy easy free wins.

The ONLY issue that has really come to light with MMR is that at the highest level of play, Survivors have a HUGE advantage over Killers in this game and it never actually feels "Fair" for the Killer. But this is simply because the game is truly Unbalanced, and ultimately favors Survivors who know how to play together as a Team. What I have realized though, is that this has taken the "4K" possibility away from Killers, against good Survivors who we seem to face constantly now, but instead of a 4K my new goal is to get a 2K and plenty of hooks - now in my mind as long as I get a 2K with a few extra hooks that is a win for me.. I still lose a lot, but the idea of getting a 4K has completely vanished from my mind - honestly if I manage to get a 4K it generally means that I actually played against bad survivors that round and MMR didn't really work as it was supposed to.. but this has become extremely rare now unless I play my best Main Killer with the most Meta Build.

What I dislike is that circle of healing promotes hyper aggressive survivor gameplay with constant bodyblocking mid chase which drops the fun factor for any M1 killer if the survivor team uses the boon to its full potential.

That's why I now exclusively play instadown killers even if they're not considered top tier.

    Currently trying to master curving-Hillbilly.

Other options in this regard are Bubba, Myers, Ghostface (to some extent) and Oni. I suppose that's enough variety for those of us who are sick of getting bodyblocked mid-chase.

Hell, I'm playing the killer yet survivors seem to go after me if I have to hit them twice. That feels like proper circus gameplay. Might as well add this whenever you're getting "chased" and blocked by survivors mid chase:

    https://youtu.be/zjedLeVGcfE

Yeah I constantly get chased by Survivors so they can Body Block and heal using COH/Shadow Step nearby.

I actually got pretty fed up with it today and finally decided to start playing Bubba again lol

I can handle a lot of things but Body Blocking is really annoying, especially when a FULL Team does it and rotates constantly. I had a team earlier do it to me like 4-5 rotations in a row, every time I would hit one of them, the others would start to run to me one by one to take hits, I could almost never get a single down. The match lasted forever and it was boring and annoying lol

I just got six 4-man SWFs in a row. I know because I checked their profiles. One game I couldn't even get a hook. Most games were over in 5 mins. At the end of the game I usually just ended up having to facecamp the unlucky survivor on the hook, waiting for my suffering to end, because after the gens are all done in record time as if they're speedrunning, what else is there to do?

Playing B tier killers at high MMR is making me sad... Maybe I should take a break from DBD...

This is how every match is for me on any Killer besides my best.

    Answers:

    • Yes, I am having fun playing Nurse
    • No for any other killers.

With Nurse I run a fun build

    • BBQ for BP, because more BP is fun
    • Plaything to confuse survivors and make them do totems
    • Knockout is just for fun, I like the effect it gives when you down the survivor. You can also pick up a survivor at the exit gate because they are crawling slower. I really use the full slugging strength of knockout only if someone burns RPD offering
    • Whispers to find survivors faster

That's it. Very fun build. No gen regression and I either win with 3-4K or at least go for lots of hooks. No reason to camp/tunnel usually.

    All other killers:

I found a survivor, I chase the survivor, break the god pallet, vault window, they hold W and drop pallets.

Once I downed survivor -- 1 or 2 gens done. I am on the opposite side of the map. I am slowly walking to other survivors. They have done one more gen. Start chase again, catch up to the W-holder, break pallets... Gens done.

I've got bored of this. I need to run gen regression/protection perks, I cannot run the build I really want to because I just lose.

And I am usually not losing to the people who do mind games and are good in chases and take risks for fun. I lose to people who hold M1 on gen, then hold W then drop all pallets, press E, scream, but do not lose health state.

This is 100% Accurate - and Nurse is literally the only Killer I still somewhat enjoy playing now..

Too bad I'm terrible with her lol.

But honestly, Gens are popping WAY too fast, idk if it's just the MMR that I'm at or what, but even with Corrupt Intervention, PGTW, etc.. usually 2 gens are completed by the time I get 1 hook nowadays.. then the rest of the match just flies by. I played w/ Tinkerer earlier and every single minute my Tinkerer would go off while I was in chase constantly, I couldn't protect a single gen even if I tried to turn directly to the gen being worked on by the time I got there it was already completed.

My matches seem to be ending in 5-10min consistently. That's just too crazy, I still usually get 1-2K somehow, but I'm straight up running some of the best slowdown perks in the game and they still somehow manage to complete all 5 gens and open exit gates in 5-10min every round, I really don't get what else I could possibly be doing lol.. and they also constantly Body Block and then go heal under COH for super fast heals.

I mean do u like this power, or need to change or rework it...For example for me its so useless, survivor fast drop it

    ur thought?

Honestly his chains are pretty weak overall - I still think he's fun to play as and I enjoy him, but chains and his power in general is really weak.

I don't necessarily think he needs a buff, but he certainly does Not need any kind of nerf, because he's not a very strong Killer to begin with.
