Demo is clunkier.

She's glitchy, especially on multi-story maps. There are also several 'unblinkable' objects she really should be able to blink through.
Her recovery after blinking can also be highly annoying.
And she is a nightmare on console. : P

No thanks, people like fun cosmetics, and it's going to bring them money. Lore doesn't need to be a part of every single cosmetic in the game, that's so boring. I still think the Yui skin was far superior, but man you guys are hilarious going up in arms over this claudette skin. News flash, her ballroom dance cosmetic makes no sense either, yet I seen no threads about that one.
Then put the fun cosmetics with the fun characters. Seriously, Nea, Feng, Ace, and David King exist. Why not put the more upbeat ones with them?
Then again, this is a horror game. Fun cosmetics really do not fit regardless.
I don't like that one either. But I wouldn't ask it to be removed since they added it to the game. But this is in context to the contest, which is more controllable from our end. There were those who had better ideas that got passed up because they are not artistic enough for the devs.

Yes. Basically that one.

If they wanted so bad a spring/summer related cosmetic, they could have picked that awesome Yui cosmetic or the awesome pool party Jeff design who competed.
I'm pretty against community polls though, a wide enough community could get the choice on every winner.
You are right. That is why I want the criteria for selection to change slightly toward keeping them consistent with their characters. That way the devs will be forced to choose better ideas instead of just the ones that look the best.
-
@EmpireWinner said:
Maybe they wanted to add spice in to claud, I'm fine with everything but the thong
I don't think claud would ever wear that
Add it to the lore first, then add the skin. Simple.
I don't think she would ever want to either. Same with her summer dress in the rift. It is not her style.

Another way they could go about it is for the devs to pick a bunch of them that they like and then pass it to the community to vote on their favourites. I imagine that'd create less complaints.
But that does not adress the issue I am bringing up. That the winning cosmetics are not going along with their characters very well.

For once, we agree on something (jk, you have some decent points). XD
I am glad. I don't use Twitter myself, so it is good to hear some updates like that.
I would much rather have tonally consistent outfits than random ones tbh.

Well, I have a story about karma. One where I made a mistake, but showed the true colors of the claudette on my team.
We were on The Game against GF. I unhooked safely and tried to heal the claudette, but GF was coming back (in shroud). I accidentally bodyblocked her (as we were in a tight corridor) because I did not know which way he would come. By the time I saw him, he was swinging at her, downed her, then chased and downed me.
When I was on Phase 2, the claudette came over... and did the unhooking glitch. You know, where they start to unhook then stop. They did that until I died.
I call it karma because I got the claudette downed and she got me killed... but I wasn't intending to get her downed to begin with. I rescued her, after all!
So a claudette sentenced me to death because of a mistake.
I thought this was a sarcastic header upon first reading the header. Most of my teammates are not amazing. I don't really have any positive stories on the survivor side. I play more killer for a reason.

It's not killing anyone, besides, I would not be surprised if they just hide the exposed thong altogether due to the sheer amount of outrage over it, which is...well I'm not commenting on it. I don't plan on getting it so i guess it doesn't affect me as deeply as others.
She is characteristically shy, and a shut in. She would never dream of wearing that. The auric cells that make up the outfit would never form that because she herself would never wish for it.

The logic of "it doesn't fit the character" flies out the window when you look at a lot of existing skins in the game.
Trappers seaside massacre skin? how does that fit him? it was never mentioned in Evans lore that he was an undead sea creature at some point.
Or Jake's brightly coloured 80's looking outfit, is he the kind of guy that would wear that?
Making different themed skins for characters is fun, and it does attract people, maybe not you, but it does others. If you limit the possibilities of what characters can have what cosmetics, you are really limiting the creative process. Sure, it's possible to create skins that are lore friendly and great looking, but where in the rulebook does it say that a skin MUST be lore friendly?
I guarantee most of the Claudette mains out there will snatch this outfit up as soon as it's available. It's also insulting to the artist who got chosen out of hundreds of other contestants that their skin shouldn't have won, let them have their moment. Don't like it? don't buy it.
It is something he could come up with. He lived in Seattle, by the sea.
I still think some cosmetic sets make no sense and shouldn't be in the game. But they are already here. I can't complain about them because they are here already. I can point out their inaccuracies/flaws, but I will never ask for content to be removed once it is here.
Again, I praise the skill and effort of the artist, just am critiquing the judges. They won. Glad they get recognized by the devs. I just think there were better, more true-to-the-character options. There were amazing survivor and killer ideas but this just goes against the intent of the characters.

i agree with the legion one, but it still looks cool as hell
with claudette, people aren't just black and white. she might be a shut in but that doesn't mean she doesn’t like to dress up from time to time.
It is never shown to be the case for Claudette, even the rift lore reinforces this.
It is not black and white judgement on my part. It is literally what the game tells us. I think it is a disservice to the character to make something that does not fit with their personality.

Well, with the whole PC hackers and Stretched Res shenanigans... it is kind of clear why. I for one do not want to go against people who abuse those.
At least console is a level playing field, despite its penchant for crashing.

With the weapon and attack patterns, sh2 nurse would better suit Pyramid Head. Sh movie nurse might fit Hag, though.
I really, really want this. I was going to submit this as a design for the contest, but was unsure of how creative commons interacts with it, so I decided against it.
It would be the cosmetic set I would use the most, depending on how it is made and the design.

Ah, I see. Well, if you were going to use that combo, I'd use it for the Sprint Burst synergy. Given that Poised removes scratch marks, I can't see Fixated giving you much use there. I guess it could give you a heads up for when the effect of Poised runs out, but you can get the same information just by watching the timer on the Poised icon and saving that slot for something more worthwhile.
Well, it would round out a build. But that is why I am asking, since survivor is not my forté.
-
@Fibijean said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1312176#Comment_1312176
Well, Fixated doesn't really synergise with Poised because it only affects walking speed, and the entire point of Poised is to be able to sprint without consequence for 10 seconds per generator. Sprint Burst would definitely work with it, I just personally wouldn't run that combo because I'm not a fan of Sprint Burst in general and the playstyle it enforces. Given that playstyle, though, SB and Fixated do synergise fairly well, so if you wanted to run all three together it could work.
I was more using Fixated for the ability to see scratch marks. So you could see where they would be, and because Fixated works with SB.

I’ve done this, in conjunction with either light weight or distortion (in case Bitter Murmur is in play). It’s very effective against high mobility killers that are quick to attempt to try and find/cut off survivors leaving a repaired gen.
Cool, thanks!

There are a lot of great underrated perks out there. People tend to underestimate the amount of information that aura-reading perks, like Alert and Empathy, give the player. Personally, I'm a fan of perks that allow you to escape by doing things the killer isn't expecting - so Poised and Tenacity are two of my favourites for that reason.
Do you ever consider running poised with SB and Fixated?
I am more asking because I want to know if it is a decent survivor build. I am not good at making those (killer builds are different stories though).

I'd like to also add in a change to help people with less than amazing artistic ability to participate in these contests.
Allow the ability to gain outside assistance or provide a separate category for the artistically challenged.
While it may not be the case, it seems like only good artists will win these contests when you consider the past winners and finalists.
I dunno about anyone else, but I feel less inclined to participate in the next one when I feel like I'll have no chance thanks to my inability to color within the lines.
I didn't focus on that so much because that would be admitting my skill isn't great in this regard, at least compared to the winners. XD
But seriously, another good idea. Maybe if you have a partner, the reward would be split between you?
That, or perhaps, maybe a better idea is that they look at the concept instead of just judging based off of how nice it looks. There were a lot of great concepts that probably didn't stand a chance because the creators cant illustrate it well.

Not really? She is a person who would probably go to those, since they would be relevant events for everyone involved. Not only is it a spiritual thing, but it is something that brings people together. They have these kinds of things all over the world. From Asia, to Europe, to the US. Think of it like a fairground in the US.
It certainly makes more sense than the new Claudette cosmetic set.

Claudette win i think because it mirrors the cosmetic department's latest trend in less clothes equals more money.

I agree none of them are as bad as Quentin (everybody talks about Quentin's face but I think it's the super stringy looking hair [especially on the forehead] that bugs me the most), but to be fair he's not wrong, a lot of the faces in DBD could use some touching up. I think this image explains it all:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/NIXN4QKW8H0J/image.png
Even a really small touch up like they did for Bill's beard, something that nobody asked for or knew they wanted, but made a HUGE difference after it was done.
Plus the devs did say during the 4th anniversary livestream that we can expect a massive graphic update / overhaul for the 4th year, to help DBD keep pace with all the new next gen. stuff that will be coming out soon. Hopefully this also means not only just updating the maps, special effects for killer powers, and animations, but also character models as well.
It might be really weird to have a full graphical shift in DBD and then the character models stay the same. So here's hoping
I actually do not mind Laurie or Tapp as they are now. However, Quinten really needs the attention.

Yeah, that is my biggest gripe with that one as well. It doesn't fit her character or personality.

Not only this, but they also actively get smaller. Which is something we haven't seen before, and could help with gen speed in the future.
Example: The more skill checks you succeed, the smaller the bar gets until you blow it up.
-
Yeah, and they don't change the voices (as well as not having very many to begin with for each character). Really, how can behavior ignore that after announcing this?

I have to agree, no offence to the artist but when the devs said that the entries would be judged on originality, I didn't expect a cosmetic that consisted of sweatpants and a hoodie to win.
Especially one that doesn't really have any connection her lore, either. That doesnt say: timid, botany-obsessed shut in... it says alleycat. That is Nea's Job...

Killers are supposed to have enhanced senses. So, I would like killers to have more visibility than survivors. Keep it in line with the lore, please.

Doctors counterplay is actually calm spirit. Deathslinger is no different than hatchet from huntress. If you get hit by his wellaimed shot, and get dragged in, well that's between you and God (and deathslinger). That's like saying if a huntress hits you with a hatchet you should have a chance for the blunt end to hit you instead and do nothing because why not. The killer had to aim which means if they miss they have a long delay in between and a wasted attack.. The only thing you can do is LoS that's the counter..
The only ones I kinda see as a viable point are Oni and somewhat of pyramid head (although the mori is the least of the problem because its only usable under 2 conditions...which all mori should be like this tbh. 1 being last hook, 2 being the new status condition that has to be on them to do it.) Oni is way easier to get 1shots on just from use, and his tracking is extremely good. He's a better tracker than most killers and has as good of mobility as Billy, but honestly. If you know how to run a jungle gym on him, most Oni get screwed.. As for Pyramid head, the only thing that I find a little perplexing is his ability to ignore a lot of mechanics, but he's on PTB. PTB is made to test out and leave feedback...its also only day 1. If you see the problems, leave suggestions.
I agree with the first point with counterplay, I agree with the second point about killer skill, but not with the second paragraph. Oni is perfectly fine.
Of course I am speaking from console, so take that how you will.

Post some of your gameplay dodging. I'd love to see it. I want to be good, like you.
If you watch killer gameplay, most of their shots with the ranged attack miss due to survivor movement. And the attack has the same cooldown as a successful hit + a movement speed slowdown + a lockdown on where they are aiming. It seems that you can bait out the attack to gain distance.

It is possible for a Killer to hold the game hostage. He can block a survivor in a corner. Sure, when other survivors are alive, EGC can end the game, but there was a post recently about this Situation and a Dev said, that doing it before the endgame starts is against the rules.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1254997#Comment_1254997
It's also possible to block the last survivor in a corner before the hatch is closed, so no EGC will end the game.
But he isn't stopping the gens from going, which is what keeps the game going. Killers cannot stop the game entirely, as that is what holding it hostage means. Killers have no power in this regard.
EDIT: you specified if the hatch is open. That is the one situation I can think of where that is possible.

lets see because survivors gain way less bloodpoints , survivors addons are not as good far from it compare to killer addons and survivors bloodwebs have about 100 or so items in it where killers have about what 40 ? so its way easier for them to get good addons
But survivor addons can have a way more significant impact on the course of a game (Huntress addons the clear exception). Weaved Ring + Milky Glass are good examples of this.
-
Maybe they don't do it because they want to rank, but to tilt, as they might be tired of tryharding (It is actually really hard to maintain R1 and R2 by itself, never mind camping). It has clearly worked on you. XD
And survivors that feed campers by lingering around hooks don't help your situation either.
Not justifying it in the slightest, just maybe trying to explain it to you, as the one playing against it.
-
That really isn't holding the game hostage, because the game will end in due time. Killers really dont have any ability to hold the game hostage because all they do is slow down survivor actions.
Situations that do hold the game hostage are survivors who do not complete gens and just hide. Especially when there are two of them and they are blendettes. The game is not progressing because none of them will take any risks or do anything to move the game along (gens or being on a hook).
-
Dark Souls 3, Valley, Minecraft, and Halo. Those are my go to.
