Yeah it's very much like... my reward to staying on top of dev announcements and PTB testing is having several million BPs wasted and ending up in an identical place to people who didn't spend them. I've on average bought out 6 blood webs on 30 characters at lvl50 due to the information given to us - 180 level 50 bloodwebs is not cheap and it definitely feels unfair to be forced to choose between wiping every item/addon I got from those and being in the same place as the people who did nothing, or keeping those items and getting a whole less prestige level per character than people who spent nothing.
It also seems like an easy fix - there's obviously already going to be code in place to give everyone with 70 perks (and each bracket of +50 after this) a free prestige level. Bumping that number up by 1 keeps the amount of free prestige levels between people who prepared and who didn't prepare for this update in parity but lets the people who prepared at least keep the items they got from their huge bloodpoint investment over the last few weeks.
If someone from BHVR does read this - could we at least please get an indicator of whether this is being looked at / considered, even if the answer is "no we won't do that"? Not so we can argue but at least so we can make the decision about how to proceed before the choice is made for us.

Unless you're strictly speaking WGLF and BBQ & Chili, that's simply not true. I don't know many killer players who run Distressing and Beast of Prey or Thrill of the Hunt only for the bonus blood points; or Prove Thyself only for the extra co-op bloodpoints. Heck, a lot of people chose not to run WGLF on the survivor side of things, because of how inconsistent getting stacks was. Especially before it had it's secondary effect of healing slugs twice as fast.
The reason noone runs those perks for bloodpoints is because they operate before the 8k limit per category is imposed - they make it a little easier to earn bloodpoints within a category, but they don't increase the maximum amount of bloodpoints you can earn. WGLF and BBQ are very different.

In every online multiplayer game you're gonna have bad matches, or string of bad matches. That's just video games. If your friend didn't enjoy their five games cuz they didn't win it's unlikely they'd enjoy subsequent ones as well.
There's a huge difference between losing but actually getting to play, and just sitting on a hook while you get facecamped for 2 minutes.

The patch in PTB starting today will deal with one of those things.
The patch in PTB makes camping actively stronger though, so I don't think it's going to help much.
Have we explored options like just drawing a 15 meter circle around the hook and not actually letting the killer inside it? You'd have to make sure hooks didn't spawn next to gens or doorways but goddam this is such a massive problem that needed solving years ago.

They want you to start the game on hook so they can just win without doing anything.
Nah we just don't want one survivor perk to be "press E for free win even if you stop to teabag"
-
It's also only a protection hit if the person you block for is injured, so this solution is... certainly limited. People will happily block for a healthy survivor - abusing this status is just second nature at this point.
-
Same match I also lost a down to being autoaimed into a wall too, which is supposedly turned off - I don't understand how hard it is to just not have autoaim in your game.
-
Perks should never have offered bonus bloodpoints to begin with - it creates an absolute must-have perk that you're shooting yourself if you don't take. Removing these in the same update where everyone is offered far more bloodpoints / BP efficiency to balance how everyone has gotten used to these is a good move.
-
Possibly, but if that's true then I have no idea how to recreate it.
-
Please disregard, tried another match and Distortion worked perfectly against BBQ, even on the same killer. This was just a hacker pretending to be innocent.
-
I changed my mind on my response. Biggest problem isn't the maps, though that's huge.
The biggest problem with DBD is the incredibly toxic community. 80%+ of games it's teabaggers, people calling you ######### or scum in endgame chat. BHVR seemingly completely ignore every player report that isn't from a major content creator. If I could change one thing about this game, it would be actually punishing people for toxicity.
Like come on, if your community is magnitudes more toxic than League, you have a problem.
-
Another game, only 3 BBQ stacks this time but it still doesn't add up, and less other things to confuse matters. Looks like BBQ isn't working correctly, or at the very least isn't displaying correctly.

bruh u got a 2k, the match was basically a tie. Tf do u want a 4k every single match
Lol stop taking the game too seriously
I'd rather 0k a fun match than 4k a match where I'm just eating DH all game tbh.
-
Checking again, 97,295 is 305% of the base bloodpoints, not 405%. This means that one of the following are not being included:
1) My basic bloodpoint reward
2) My BBQ chilli reward
3) The Bloody Party Streamers.
It can't have ended up at the number it did if it didn't give me the benefits of my cake, although I don't know if the cake lead to some compound error with another source of BP.

I haven’t really played in over a month and wondering how it’s going. It’s more like two or three months. I’ve played maybe three matches in that time. Just curious how the state of play was doing after the killer rework stuff.
If you're a killer, every game is still 3+ Dead Hards and survivors using a map offering, so you have an awful experience even if you kill everyone.
If you're a survivor, your killer is frustrated with every game being DH and bad map spam and assumes this game is the same even if you aren't running that stuff, so is tunnelling/camping every hook to try to make up for it, giving you a miserable experience.

Huh, just checked and mine was already set to false, but I definitely get autoaimed all the freaking time. This seems like an actual bug then.

I've been having a miserable run recently on survivor...17 deaths in 22 games, with the killers and survivors I'm paired with having ridiculous volatility (going from a 45 hour Wraith to a 4500 hour Nurse to a 120 hour Bubba to a 3000 hour Trickster). I think a lot of it is the luck of the draw when it comes to backfill lobbies right now.
I think 17 in 22 deaths is about my average on survivor ever since I started playing :P I am aware that this is because I am terrible at looping though, so noone to blame but myself.

Interesting. Have you checked that it still indeed reads false? Did you set it to read-only? Want to go try this.

As a rule of thumb, I'll let a survivor take a glyph if I'm pretty sure they aren't running Dead Hard (these are also the survivors I'll give hatch). If you subject me to the awful gameplay of that perk, I won't spare any courtesy at all.
Obviously if survivors burned a map offering I'm just tunnelling and camping every hook and it goes without saying noone is getting a free glyph.
I've never seen a survivor respect a killer glyph, but it would feel... really weird to. If you've been memeing around anyway then sure, but I don't think it's ever crossed my mind to just stop at a killer's glyph.

Better than nothing you can’t accuse them of not buffing killers when they completely buffed legion and Ghostface. Every change legion received is exactly what we asked for. Except for the 5th hit down part everything we asked for was added. Shorter cooldown, getting faster when hitting, no more losing power after basic attack and power regenerating after ending frenzy instead of after the fatigue is over are great buffs.
I mean, Legion got a buff. Most GF players seem to be saying that he got nerfed. But it's not meaningful either way. It's like survivors complaining about camping so they add 1 second to camaderie.

No idea, I don't even pay attention to that stuff. I just know that the only permanent code is for a gay pride flag and that BHVR have regularly hosted streamers just for being black or gay. This doesn't really feel like new ground.

Nobody knows MMR. Everyone assumes high MMR to justify things.
Survivors will exploit things but the big difference is that it gets patched out immediately. Boil Over is a good example. Yet, Blight has been the way he is for years. That's a big difference.
Defending a hook is fine but the game is not really designed to be fair. You can't assume every team nor is it fair to expect every team to be a SWAT team where 3 can quickly finish 5 gens all by themselves. If killer quickly tunnels one person out, the other 3 can't do 5 gens. That is very imbalanced. Survivors need an alternate escape when things like that happen.
SWF might be using the perk because they think it is fun. Fun doesn't always equal being effective. Self-Care is tremendously better because killer can't disable it and you don't have to spend ages finding a totem. They need the sound removed from the killer perspective before I ever use it. Getting one heal and then having to rebless it every time is a huge time waster.
It is true. Unbreakable should be multiple uses.
A good way to tell your killer MMR is if absolutely nothing changes when you switch killer. Different killers supposedly have their own MMR based on your performance on them, but:
1) There's a soft cap on how high your MMR can go before it just starts matching you with anyone who hit that limit
2) Your lowest MMR killer can only be so far below your highest MMR killer - your highest MMR creates a floor where your weakest killers can't be below a certain point.
Functionally this means that if your Nurse or Blight MMR is high enough, your say, Trapper MMR is dragged up to the point where you're in exactly the same matches but no longer with any chance of winning, or even really getting a single hook.
Edit: At the end of the day it's just exactly the same problem we had with the old rank system but amplified to be much much worse (and weirdly focused on only kills and escapes): everyone is crammed into the same bracket (due to there being no ranks above Red before, and due to MMR cap now), so anyone who reaches that level but doesn't exceed it is just screwed unless they pull out the most powerful tools they can every game.

@Sluzzy said:
The first game of the day with an offering screen showing three party streamers so I thought this might actually be a good game. Nope, the killer said NO WAY IS THAT HAPPENING! It was a Twins and they proceeded to slug non-stop unnecessarily. The killer put Victor at the hook to watch Nea on the hook and proceeding to slug another one. I managed to finish the gen in the Asylum and recovered someone on the ground. Then, the Twins slugged two in the building and as I tried to go save someone they saw me and downed me outside.
After one was camped to death, the second one gave up while I was slugged.
He couldn't go ahead and hook me to get more points, he left me on the ground to find the last player. This is with three party streamers. Purposely playing this way with 4 or 5 gens still remaining to deny a fun match to prevent others from getting points. Killers are overwhelmingly overpowered in a very unhealthy manner. It is too hard for survivors to finish their objectives.
This is what happens in about 9 out of 10 matches in Dead by Daylight. I don't believe BHVR is aware how bad survivor gameplay is:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/NJD3PRK6WZQJ/20220428170246-1.png
And killers are using Sloppy Butcher now that CoH is drastically nerfed. It is very unfun to take a very long time to heal, are we going to see a nerf to Sloppy Butcher???
Killers need some meaningful nerfs. Twins needs a major rework so slugging is not kindergarten easy. There is no way this game will last much longer if something is not done about how unfun and impossible survivor is.
I'm already done after one game.
Your experience of the game is the exact opposite of mine in every way.
Can't get a game where survivors don't burn Springwood offerings and last second switch to powerful items (which shouldn't even be possible). Then you get in and it's just full dead hard juicers on comms. It doesn't matter what mistakes survivors make, they just press E to cancel the mistake, and run back into one of the many god-loops on their unbalanced map that they get every game because the offering system is 4v1. To paraphrase you: "[Survivors] are extremely overpowered in a very unhealthy manner."
You're complaining about Twins slugging but, what are they meant to do? Stand around for several seconds while they aren't even allowed to switch character, then cross the map with Charlotte to catch up with Victor, then carry you to a hook? Multiply the 30 seconds extra they wasted to do that as Twins by the number of survivors, and suddenly entire gens just got done because they decided it was worth hooking. That's a design fault, not a player one.

Still hardly seeing any killers besides nurse and blight, (legion is being seen but that will die down soon enough). This is so incredibly boring, give me a weaker team so I can at least verse a different killer...
Then killers miserable, cant have any fun in these matches. I get no weak link and have people running full meta with strong items making the experience just pointless, god forbid I play someone who isnt blight and able to actually stand a chance.
I just cant force myself to play your game in this current state, no side is fun and neither gives/allows variety. And I'm not going to spend ages deranking every other day.
Legit the first game where instead of paying someone to boost your account, you'd be better off paying someone to just throw games for you.

You changed ruin because every killer ran it, it was annoying and not fun. Dead Hard is ridiculously strong and going against survivors every match that use that busted perk is absolutely tedious. Please address this and properly balance this perk so others Ike Sprint Burst and Lithe will be used more often. The power of this perk is ludicrous.
Survivor perks don't get nerfed unless it's marginal adjustments to new changes, because there's 4x more survivor players than killer ones and their whining is louder.
-
@Sluzzy said:
The cherry on top is the 4th person is a free down outside the survivor's control. On a map like Coal Tower, it is easy to do.
Dunno what MMR you're playing at but I've still yet to ever see the 5th hit down happen on either side.
-
The biggest problem by far is the maps. Many maps are just incredibly unfair to killer. The biggest offenders are Springwood (it just has the best loop from every other map strung together with safe pallets in between, then its own unique main building which is even stronger than any of them) and The Game (on which you can just hold W and button mash space bar for the win because of the number of pallets). This combined with the survivors getting 4 offerings to the killer's 1, and map offerings being the same rarity for both sides, meaning that past a certain MMR you can expect the survivors to be chosing the map pretty much every game. Today I'm over 75% survivor Springwood offerings - I'm currently just leaving the game at the start of every springwood match because the games are pointless, and even if I camp and tunnel my way into some kills, they aren't fun.
For comparsion, I don't think a single map is unfair to survivors in the same way. The exit gates on Midwich are pretty harsh but I still have a lot of fun on it as survivor. I don't think a map can load and make me want to just instantly quit on survivor like it can on killer - maybe Lery's, but that's more from personal taste than it just being unfair.
-
Convinced myself to try the new update with "improved MMR".
Three out of four games the survivors burned a springwood offering. The last one I just left the match as soon as it started.
And I'm off again!

Didn’t you know that pressing the ctrl button is really toxic and can cost the killer the game? I wish there was a way to avoid the bullying like ignoring it but that’s too hard
Tea-bagging is just deliberate BM and should be punished just like chat harassment. It doesn't matter if you can ignore it.

Yeah I gotta say all the baby killer main tears are pretty cringe. The game has never been easier for killers, other than old mori's or like 5 blink Nurse.
GF and Legion got massive buffs, CoH nerfs make it objectively worse than self-care, Haddo is now one of the most killer sided maps in DBD, and you still have people on here saying killer is not easy enough because they are getting beat by survivors who are probably significantly better than them.
COH is not objectively worse than self care, it's 1) still healing 4x as many people and 2) healing much faster than self-care.
GF and Legion got "massive buffs" and are now what, C tier at best? yay.

Yep new account it’s what I thought. Killer mains don’t get anything it’s not like they nerfed Boil over in a week and just nerfed it again. They nerfed COH twice. M.O.M was nerfed in 3 months. DS was nerfed 5 times Exhaustion was nerfed. Toolboxes, Medkits and instaheals All nerfed. Keys and hatch nerfed.
But Noooo the killers are oppressed we get nothing it’s not like we have been getting nothing but buffs to weak as ######### killers and perks.
im not saying the changes are perfect or make a killer from F to S tier but it’s not true to say they only care about one side where they have been nerfed just like the rest
COH hasn't received a MEANINGFUL nerf yet. Even after 3 nerfs It's still positive 50% healing speed to your whole team when it should be balanced alongside self-care being negative 50% healing speed to one person.

Don't worry, the game is still vastly survivor-sided and not even close to fair for killer yet. Pretty obvious you only play survivor.

Yep, you assume it's on every survivor (in reality there's a decent chance that only 3 of them have it, I haven't seen less than 2 with DH in months). You can try to wait/bait it out in close chases but there's not a lot you can do about DH for distance to a window or pallet.
A game without 3+ survivor DH is even more rare than a game without survivor map offerings that are for some dumb reason the same rarity as killer ones in a 4v1 game.
-
Just wanted to say I don't appreciate it at all. Extra XP doesn't address the awful time you have in the game because of it's terrible balance - play any killer that can't handle dead hard and you just get farmed, play a killer that can handle it and just tunnel and the survivors have a ######### time.
Double XP doesn't make it worth playing for the 10% of games that are actually enjoyable.
-
Hard delete dead hard, replace it with something completely different. Free on-demand movement shouldn't exist for survivors in any form.

Unfortunately this isn't considered taking the game hostage as they will eventually bleed out. Though I get it, this is frustrating and was always going to be an issue with the new Boil Over.
Edit: this change should never have gone live in the first place but as far as RPD goes, they could have simply added a hook to the top floor of the library and that avenue of game mechanic abuse would have been shut down.

Bleeding out takes 4 minutes. Bleeding out no mither + soul guard takes 30 minutes. They aren't on the same level.
In addition, going into a game with no intention of even trying to win is considered an offence. The entire 4 man team went straight to library and never thought about anything else, even if I left.

Perk: Deception
Change: Deception is now activated with a different button than locker entry, similar to Dead Hard.
Why it's a buff: you can now actually fast-enter a locker while Deception is off cooldown, allowing a mindgame.
Honestly Deception is currently stronger at rank 1 than rank 3 because of this.

Came here to report this - it's lost me so many games. Confirmed many many times over on multiple killers.

Not really a bug, just terrible design. But yes the ambient healing is incredibly frustrating, i currently just facecamp every game on this giant map to get it over with quickly, unless the team I'm against are obviously new.
-
Confirmed not working - my dash lasted over 30 seconds, forget 10.
-
No mention of this bug being addressed or known in the latest patch notes. It effects both The Beast Awakens in tome VIII-IV, and Devotion to the Unseen in tome VII-I. Presumably the compendium challenges are not properly detecting when the player is undetectable, since both challenges have this in common and neither are completable.
