Instead of deflecting by conflating the buff with the accessibility aim of the new system, simply answer the question, thanks. So far the closest thing to an actual answer has SleepyWillo saying it was only a buff to 'death squads'. We would question why the best players need a further buff.
"WHAT IS THE RATIONALE BEHIND THE WIGGLE BUFF?"
That's what you asked.
The answer is it was changed because it helps people with accessibility concerns. Whether or not you like that answer is irrelevant. That's the answer.

You have to look at it like this.
Dead Hard being fixed so that it works properly is good.
The strength of Dead Hard is not good.

Its certainly an interesting topic. I've tested various times and regions and found no notable difference because each experience was completely random. I've had complete babies in the morning and complete gods late at night, with no noticeable pattern. I don't think its something you could ever prove one way or the other without thousands of games to mitigate the insane RNG that goes into the data. I've heard claims of literally anything which to me, means there can't much truth to any of them. I've heard only good survivors play in the morning in EU, but the good survivors are in the evening in NA.
If the claim is that in the morning there are people that don't have jobs / school that can afford to play DBD all day, that also implies SWF isn't as big of a deal as people claim it is as there would obviously be more SWF whenever people get home from work / school. I've also found the weekend has no real impact which also negates this theory.
tl;dr none of it makes sense because the system doesn't work to begin with. All discussions on the subject are pointless because nothing can ever be proven.
I have also noticed that the only thing consistent in my matches was how inconsistent they were, especially as Killer. However, it's definitely been getting worse recently, at least for me. My SWF usually plays around 7:00 PM EST - 2:00 AM EST. I have noticed that we get consistently new players. If those players are on our platform, we check their hours and we've only had one teammate that has had more than 200 hours in the last three days. Strangely, the Killer's hours are still inconsistent. We've seen as high as 8K hours and as low as 15.
The one time we played earlier in the day, at around 2:00 PM EST, we got two teammates with 6K hours and a Killer with 200 hours.
However, this means basically nothing. I understand that there's really no way to prove anything without gathering a massive amount of data.
That's why I've tried to appeal directly to BHVR as they are the only one's really capable of gathering that amount of data.
I also understand that the odds of them saying anything are very slim, but it's pretty much the only avenue available to me, so I figured I'd make the attempt.

I think it's to do with the fact that there aren't enough killers in the game right now to support all of the survivors queuing up for games at peak hours...
Meaning this throws off matchmaking for a lot of games at regular hours. Also means that it can only get worse at off peak hours...
MMR is really throwing a wrench into this game... but that goes to show the effect that survivors have right now. They really need to do something about SWFs if they want to keep MMR in the game.
Please don't make this an us vs them post.

Honestly i'm reading stuff like this since i joined Dbd over 2 years ago. People quitting Dbd and making a thread about it exists since i joined the forums and i don't see anything special right now. I don't mind it and i get why people want to talk about it when it was a big part of their life.
But I remember when Ruin + Old Undying was a thing and everyone said survivors gonna leave and the game is dying. I remember when old Spirit and cheap Freddy was a thing, when maps got adjusted and later reworked for the first time and people said the game will die. The amount of times killer mains said "the game will die, all killers are leaving" in the past 2 years isn't even countable, like literally every chapter there was something people argued about. The arguments just get repeated every time. I remember there even were graphs and charts about steam players leaving like 1 year ago or so, turns out it was just a phase.
Yea the game lost some players recently but it's still on the level of 2020 and nearly on the level of the time afterwards. Maybe the spike in last summer was just a boost by RE fans who then left after realizing this game isn't even close to RE in terms of gameplay. Maybe its just a natural thing, when you're making changes to some 6 year old game which people got already bored of a bit, and the changes aren't that healthy (SBMM), then it's normal some players leave.
I'm in no way defending this game or BHVRs decisions but i would be careful with assumptions that this game is dying, i mean it could be but there were also many times were it came back stronger
My thing is that when there were player count concerns in the past, there was almost always a hype license around the corner and no competition on the horizon.
However, this time is different. Resident Evil was a huge failure, from a player retention point of view. We lost pretty much every player we gained during the Resident Evil chapter. Same with Hellraiser.
The Ring, especially the Japanese version of the Ring, is not really hype. It's cool, don't get me wrong, but it's nothing truly special to most people. I'm pretty sure most people think that Sadako is the Japanese knock-off of Samara, not the other way around.
Likewise, there's also some BIG games on the horizon. VHS is having their open beta, I think. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre game is floating around as well as the Evil Dead game. Additionally, out of market games like Elden Ring are going to eviscerate the games viewership on Twitch with many of the top content creators going to play it for a considerable amount of time.
In short, DBD needs an extremely hype chapter for anniversary to stop the bleeding, let alone recover these numbers.

The system apparently just ignores mmr if people quit out of a lobby and the lobby tries to find a replacement. At least that's the impression I got from reading the dev blog.
What is likely happening is your 4K hour friend is filling in a spot that someone dodged or someone is filling in a spot that someone else dodged.
He was the first (other than the Killer) in the lobby. I could share some clips, but idk if it would be naming and shaming.

Not by more time than what it took Freddy to put survivors asleep.
I'm pretty sure that a failed gen skill check is -10% progression and a pause for 3 seconds. I think that equates to a little more than the amount of time it took to put people to sleep.
Besides, then Freddy would come over there, put you asleep again and then you need to fail another skill check, thus stalling the game for God knows how long.

I remember his release weekend. People disconnected because they only faced Freddy during a free weekend with double bloodpoints.
The 20 minute matches thing was from the reworked Freddy.
You remember he had 50% slowdown in Dream and constant aura-rezding, yeah?

People disconnected because they didn't understood what his power was and because there was no DC penalty implemented.
The latter yes, the former no.
He was just really unfun.
He'd lose, but it'd take 20 minutes.

I feel like people have forgotten how incredibly unfun old Freddy was and that people would DC en masse to get out of games with him.
Don't get me wrong, his design was much more inspired, but his actual implementation was horrid.

5.3.0 was much more than just boons, that's being incredibly reductive for the sake of a point. That update was very very good overall, even if the DLC that launched alongside it introduced a perk that causes balance issues- and, to be fair, one of the many many things in it was also done pretty poorly.
It's also worth mentioning that 5.0.0 also contained good things, not just RPD. 4.7.0 did too, in fact- specifically, the struggle phase skillchecks! Just because you or any other player has a tendency to get salty and want to leave the game without a disconnect penalty doesn't make them a bad addition.
Come on, man. You're being hyperbolic for a point, I get that, but it's so hyperbolic that it renders your point completely incoherent.
5.0.0 literally killed the game on Consoles (the majority of the playerbase) for over a month and a half.
It was #########.

If he is who I think he is he told me in post game chat he got banned a ton of times but he just comes back again and again.
The odds of it being the same Dwight are fairly slim, I think.
Regardless, I've never received any confirmation that he was banned.

As Otz has shown, a Pinhead who can successfully keep his Chain Hunt up is terrifying. It doesn't matter if you can dodge his chains, you have to dodge them constantly and progress gets ground to a complete halt.
But unfortunately, that's the only real case where Pinhead has some serious strength. Either he's incredibly oppressive there, or he's basically nonexistent everywhere else.
His Possessed Chain and other facets of his chain hunt need a well-deserved buff.
I called it as soon as he released.
The Chain Hunt is his power. His Possessed Chains may as well not exist. They give you, at best, the affect of Clown's bottles whilst requiring the skill of Nurse/Deathslinger to pull off. You want to maximize the amount of time Chain Hunt is up.
Unfortunately, BHVR nerfed the best add-ons to do that and gave him nothing to compensate.

I rather like the idea that, if a match goes on for 20+ minutes; people can DC and keep their BP, with some caveats:
- If it's Survivors DCing; the Killer gets credit for all remaining hooks & sacrifices.
- If it's the Killer DCing; Survivors get credit for remaining gens, gate opening, and exiting.
In this way; Hackers can hold a game hostage, but the people being forced to eat the DC are not punished in the slightest.
And, if it were my game (depending on how easy this would be to implement):
If a match goes on for 15+ minutes (time can vary; don't let the public know what the time limit is); A recording would be sent to support & flagged for review, complete with every player's account info. Encrypted, of course. In this way, cheaters holding a game hostage are literally flagging themselves for review & eventual banning.
I think that's a fine idea, I'm just not sure if they could implement something so complex.

Oh, I never said they should not try harder.
OP was implying, over numerous posts, that DCing should be allowed until cheaters are stopped all together. That's basically not possible.
Cheaters will always cheat. When banned; they buy new accounts, buy a new cheat (if they don't make & sell them, themselves), and cheat again. It's a never-ending arms race. OP thinking the game should be ruined by DCers so they can DC the 1 in 50 games they find one is childish and overblown.
It's very much a 'I want this for ME, and everyone ruined by DCers can deal.' attitude. Made moreso by the strawmen arguments and ad hominem attacks when they ran out of excuses in the face of logic.
Should BHVR ban cheaters? Yes. Always.
Should the game be ruined by free DCs while they do so? Hell no!
There must be a middle ground.
Cheaters are much more common than you are making them out to be. I saw them frequently, though I'm not sure why the numbers vary so much.
When I was on the Xbox One X I encountered a cheater with my Crossplay switched off. The cheating Survivor crashed my Xbox by dropping a metric assload of fireworks on my screen. I eat a DC penalty for that.
More recently, on my Series X, I encountered a Dwight who flew around the map and held my game hostage by sticking around after the EGC had ended. He endee up holding me hostage for 2-8 hours (i left to go to a party on New Year's Eve and he stuck around in-game).
There must be a middle ground. There needs to be some system that allows players to DC without penalty if someone is holding them hostage or if they are forced to quit. Remember, hackers can nab your IP from DBD too and forcibly disconnect you.

Yeah, that is a bit of a bummer that most are PC only. I will probably try hooking my laptop up to my tv and playing with a controller for VHS, but hopefully that eventually makes its way to console if it does well enough. Ash vs Evil Dead game should be out on console to begin with, although I get the feeling that's going to be delayed a bit longer
Right now, as far as console asym alternatives to DBD, there's not much beyond comp stomping in Evolve or White Noise 2. Although those can both be fun for a little bit here and there. I really could not get into the Predator game at all, for whatever reason
I played Evolve when it first came out, never could get into it.
I think VHS said they want to make sure their game works well on PC and runs well on Console before they release it. That seems pretty good to me.
I'm getting through Far Cry 3 and AC: Black Flag rn. After that, I might play Skyrim for the first time.

Banning cheaters is always an arms race that never ends. I don't know what to tell you; no game has ever successfully permanently stopped cheaters. It's literally impossible, since human beings code the games and human beings code the cheats.
When one man builds a wall; another will tear it down.
So, while BHVR can ban cheaters and block CURRENT anti-cheats; cheaters will just make more. That's how it works.
And I'm not having an unplayable game just because you think that's better due to the 1 in 100 games where you find a legit cheater.
Clearly, whatever they were doing wasn't working.
I was averaging around 1-2 (depending on the day) obvious cheaters a night. That's not accounting for non-obvious cheaters either.
Just because the battle against cheaters is a neverending one doesn't mean BHVR's current response is acceptable.

I'm pretty sure there was a discussion on whether or not Survivors could take the game hostage by hiding a few months ago.
I seem to recall someone from BHVR popping in to say it's murky but there's a point where it's beyond a reasonable game or something like that.

Sorry, I don't want my prey to get away because of an arbitrary timer. I beat their team and I've earned the right to wait them out.
Sorry, if the Survivors hide for 25 minutes that's literally taking the game hostage, iirc.

Scirpt kiddies are not so common that players need to have unplayable matches so people can DC the 1 in 100 times they run into one.
How long is a reasonable match?
I think if a match lasts over 25 minutes, players should be able to DC without a penalty. Clearly, at that point, something is up.
