Personally, I think we should try to make the game more fun.
Or we could listen to the people that want to hardware ban people for leaving the game in any way shape or form.

Cause most of my experiences with TTVs have been bad; or it is just them talking smack in the VOD. Lots of cheating accusations as well because mr strimmer can't handle the fact they got beat and need an excuse for the viewers.
Plus they are trying to get fame and money by beating me in a video game, why would I make it easy?
Weird to be so bent out of shape.
I guess maybe you have issues you need to work through
-
His three best addons are Map of the Realm, Dried Horsemeat and Call to Arms.
So they're mostly bad and some are horrendous.

Camp and tunnel them out with a mori. Along with some BM on the hook for good measure
Ideally they die first hook and don't get to play at all, to encourage as many viewers to leave the stream as possible
Why?

I drop in post-game to say GG WP GL Next.
Then I usually get yelled at, which is fair, most of the time.

you seem to be a fairly respected member of the community here otherwise i would doubt you knew what tunneling was. you must live in a different world than me.
Could be.
Camping, tunneling and the gen kick combo is running absolutely rampant in my games.
-
Tunneling occurs in almost all of my games. Not all, but almost all.
It's easy, effective and difficult to counter for the majority of players.

At last.
We shall know what our teammates are (or most likely aren't) doing.

I mean, dont tunnel at 5 Gens. Easily avoidable. And you cannot really tell me that you have to tunnel at 5 Gens.
Against some teams, you do.
Those are FEW and far between.
That being said, I don't like your idea as it gives me shades of Eruption. I don't like the idea of not being able to do anything for 10 seconds. Maybe make it so that the Killer can't attack for a certain amount of time after a short stun? Maybe also give the Survivor a small Haste boost for the duration of the stun.

I thought you were a SoloQ survivor, considering how much you complain about it
I actually usually play Duos or Solo.
People playing with their friends keeps this game alive.
I will continue to bring up issues that plague Solo Q until they are fixed.

Still not gonna support any blatant attempts to divide players.
However, I would support having a Console pool. I think that'd be cool.

There will be people playing Dead by Daylight only now there is no SWF.
Not anyone has friends willing to play DBD nor do they enjoy getting dominated as Survivor.
You'd have to significantly nerf a lot of the Killer cast/perks.
-
When you ban SWF, we won't have a game to play.
-
Yeah it's because you lose LoS. Chase drops without Line of Sight
Break the wall.

I read my post back , I'm not trying to be aggressive about this.Im sorry to everyone how it sounds.Theres base perks like Kindred, Alert,Spine Chill anyone one of these perks combined with urban evasion will allow you to escape.Theres the status of icons where it let's you know if a team is injured or in the dying state. When the obsession is being chased, what does that mean to you? That's a question for you.
I don't know specifically what buffs, that were recommended but ,I believe one was some way to see the killers aura somehow but that's a fifth perk, against 4 perks or just 3 or 2 because either one or two of the killer perks becomes useless. For SwF that's added anything to give more information just adds 20 till two you can basically utilize your entire perk roster more than killer.
As killer,I solo que also I have perk that can give me information, but my perks are counterable,if you now some one is in chase with the killer you know that you are safe and don't have to move,if you don't know, you hear my terror radius mostly you'll probably hide which gives me a few more seconds to either kick the gen or get a down from the chase. If your being told my everyone which happens in swf, my role as killer greatly degrades against anyone. This is supposed to be a game of hide n seek or did they change to a new game Marco polo .It also destroys what makes the game fun, winning in this game doesn't make the game fun .The moment's when you get jump scared,or even tunneled and lose the killer and make it to the exit gates make the game fun.If you take away that then,it will become stale, because you have removed any horror portion from the game and also given swf sixth perk 🤷
This game hasn't been remotely hide and seek since 2017.

That's not what he said. If you played before the Billy nerf you would know he was easily the most loved killer. He was strong but no where near oppressive. Killer mains loved him because he was fun and rewarding to play. Survivor mains loved him because the matches were almost always a blast.
Insta-saw was a little dumb and the complaints were valid, I feel.
-
The perk was recently changed.
It shows how close the Killer is to you, if there is a Terror Radius. If not, it just lights up when the Killer is within 36 meters, iirc.
It also gives you a small action speed bonus if the Killer has Line of Sight on you.

Eh.
I find this strange dichotomy with Knight. On the one hand, I do find him to be weak. On the other, I have been getting excellent use out of him. He's extremely good at macro pressure (duh) and can absolutely hold 3 gens like no one else.

Maybe I’m in the minority as a Billy main but I find his “roar” endearing. One thing that annoys me that’s not Billy specific is new maps. I really don’t think they consider different killer’s powers (especially older killers) and how they will preform on the map.
I'm certainly no Billy main but I really hate the roar.

Not a big part. The same survivors spamming these forums over and over. Also, you considering something "unfun" doesn't mean it should be removed.
Are flashlights fun for the killer to not see anything ? No. Doesn't mean they should be removed.
That didn't stop locker saves from being removed.
Likewise, there is a massive part of the community that finds Nurse to be exceedingly unfun to play against, myself included. People really aren't spamming the Nurse topic.
Besides, I'm about as big of a Killer Main as you can get.

Yeah, I've got one but I sound like a #########.
I was already really tilted from the games prior to stream, including a Huntress who decided to let me bleed out directly prior, so I don't know if I want people to see me be really bitchy and whiny over a game lmao
-
I'm not in a SWF.
I just want to be able to enjoy the game again.
That's all
-
MMR is functionally the same as Ranks right now.
Lots of sunk time for a system that does nothing.
I'm fairly convinced that people don't really remember Ranks nor are they fairly rating how awful this system is.

Yeah, nothing wrong with a Killer who has the best mobility, an easy to use Instadown with not much punishment AND Add Ons which make it even easier to use and the punishment less impactful.
I do think that a cooldown addon could stay.
But as long as his addons are interesting I don't have a problem with him not having charge time (as I said in my original post, I think Insta-Saw should stay in the past) or cooldown addons.
Likewise, his animations and hitbox really do need to be updated to 2022 standards.

The problem he had and actually shares with all killers is the fact that " stat boosting addons" are in almost all cases better than conditional or meme addons. Chargespeed, range, cooldown will always be better than some random nonsense. ( see nurse outrage lol)
I'm probably too killer biased to give detailed "balanced" ideas.
But clearly there's a way to do them right, see Huntress. She still has stat-boosting addons but she didn't get them nerfed. She even kept her Exhaustion addon.

Yeah a lot of my friends don't play solo at all but I have always enjoyed the randomness of solo and not having to wait for others etc. I play at weird hours due to my work so that also complicates things...
But yet again had another match where Eruption carried the killer against solos. The situation is ridiculous
If it was me just now, I apologize for what I've done.
If it was not me, I still apologize to those guys.

I've completely stopped playing Solo Q, as have my friends.
We usually try to Duo (goes about as well as Solo Q these days) or three-stack, which goes a little better.

The obvious nerf is to make the downside a cost elsewhere in the ability, rather than relying on blinding the Spirit a little bit more as a tradeoff. It's not really a complicated thing.
And I don't think 'yes' really addresses the issue. What would it look like, if no items and pimped-out items were in a somewhat balanced state?
I think it would have to be a multi-step process.
You'd have to reign in some of the more egregious add-ons and items. Blood Amber, Syringes, super boxes etc etc.
Then I think you'd have to expand on the chest searching mechanic. Make it more feasible to get items in a match, then start to balance around new nerfed items/add-ons being easier to obtain.

No.
The ability to hold people hostage in a match is problematic.
I wasn't sure if it was possible but after testing, it absolutely is and it isn't even hard to do.
It's made even stronger if you're trying to actually win, not just hold 3 gens until the server closes.

Compared to Solo Q, getting your Doctorate is easy 💀

You know I thank McClean for making the best designed thing in the entirety of this game, but when he laughed at scott junds fake patch loop money system I lost respect. But then again he chuckled over more than half of that video without explaining his thoughts.
To be honest, tunneling and camping need to be fixed at the root. This incentive thing killer's spout won't actually work. People will always go to the most efficient way to win and I can't see tunneling being stopped without extensive balance changes to replace the lack of pressure from tunneling in a even environment in which both sides are even and semi competent at least for this games standards.
Eh, I got yelled at for saying that I didn't think incentivizing going for fresh hooks would work. I figured we could at least give it a shot, even if only to prove myself right lol

@Sonzaishinai said:

So killers who get 3 kills with 3 hooks and facecamping should get less experienced survivors so they have it easier and survivors who don't know how to deal with camping should be the ones who face the most campers?
Mmr isn't a personal badge of how "skilled" you are it's a way to find the right opponents for you. A killer who gets a lot of kills by camping 100% should be facing stronger survivors
Current system isn't perfect but yours would bring more problems. It's a lot more complicated then just "tracking skill with hooks"
Ideally, yes.
It would suck, but this would actually force the Devs to do something about problematic mechanics that have been in the game for years.
Or I guess they could ignore it. But at least it would actually be a skill-based system. I'm also sort of betting big on people's ego's being massive, which in my experience, is completely true. That's why I'd have MMR be visible.

Hmm.
It's easy to say 'skill based matchmaking', but that's bloody hard to quantify. Especially for killer. I mean - Hag, Artist and Wesker all play 100% differently to each other. Other, simpler games have experimented with skill based matchmaking (Heroes of the Storm immediately comes to mind) and results were...mixed to negative.
The map weight system is interesting, but I think that it might be a bit easier to just...rework problem maps. Honestly, about half of them need a bloody update and have for years.
Points...you mean BP? Eh. If I've learned one thing this year, from the number of people who will DC on the first down despite me bringing flans is that, after a certain point, people don't care that much about BP. I'd prefer to see more powerful perks that incentivize hooking different survivors.
If you mean MMR points - the problem is that it's going to play havoc with the system, and likely lead to silly deflations or inflations of MMR.
Points as in MMR points.
Killers who have consistent high hook games are objectively more skilled than players who get low hook games. It doesn't mean those other Killers are bad, just that it's objectively harder to play for Hooks.

Recently, it's been getting more and more difficult to enjoy this game and to look over the glaring issues. The Console port of DBD has shown that the game is extremely poorly optimized, and performance will continue to get worse unless BHVR addresses the issues now.
I fear that soon, the game will become unplayable for us on current-gen Consoles. Resident Evil broke the game for a month, and it still hasn't fully recovered. What this shows is that the issue is built into the game itself, and will likely continue to worsen if it is not resolved. Likewise, we are seeing the return of bugs long thought patched, which makes me suspect that the entire code is starting to crumble under the weight of the game. I hope BHVR takes the time to do this correctly and fixes their game. If they do not, I fear we will soon lose the ability to play it at all.
Here are some videos demonstrating my points, please note that these were all taken PRIOR to the RE patch in June of 2021. These issues have been plaguing Console players since the game was ported in 2017. I doubt there will ever be an official confirmation from BHVR, but it is important that we do not let these issues go silently. The only thing we can do is continue to talk and spread awareness about them.

August Edit: Well, we are nearing 100 pages. Congrats everyone. We still haven't gotten an answer from BHVR about what happened to Optimization, but we have inspired others to start to question it. I've furthered clarified the purpose of the thread and adjusted some of the language used in this opening statement to better reflect that.
Thank you.
I've been trying to bring attention to the issues on Console for years. I agree, it's completely unacceptable that next-gen console still have issues. PS4, Xbox One and the Switch are all suffering.
Feel free to post any videos and stuff to the thread.

How would you rework MMR?
I do like fresh hooking having more incentives - honestly, some perks (Grim Embrace is the one that immediately comes to mind) could be great like this, and Devour Hope is great for this, but unfortunately they are either just bad perks or unreliable.
I'd make it be a functional system, for one. Skill-based matchmaking should track skill, not escapes or kills.
Have a map weight system. Total loops and strength of tiles/number of pallets or windows factor in to the total weight. If you lose as Killer on a highly Survivor-weighted map, you lose less points than if you'd have lost on a different map. If you win, you gain more as to reward you for overcoming a challenge stacked against you. If you win as Survivor on a map like Shelter Woods, you should gain more as you were clearly more skilled than your opponent, despite obviously being at a disadvantage. Map offerings should immediately flip the switch towards whoever used them. If you bring an offering for Aazarov's as Survivor, it doesn't matter what map it is, the game would still act like you were on a heavy Survivor-weighted map. Same with Killer's bringing map offerings.
Give bonus points for high hook stages. Getting 10 hooks and 2 Kills shouldn't be weighted the same as getting 4 Hooks and 2 Kills. Reward fresh hooks as well, every fresh hook gives bonus points for being more skillful but going after the same Survivor doesn't detract points.
Record chase times for Survivor (or times where a Killer is within X meters). Give points per X seconds of chase. Give points per X seconds of gen progress. Points for sabotage plays within X meters of a Killer carrying a Survivor. Reward individual power counterplay, ie, taking a hit for a Survivor speared by Deathslinger, solving Pinhead's Box, etc etc. Reward altruistic actions, saviors shouldn't be punished by being put in lower MMR tiers.
This is just stuff off of the top of my head.

I've only seen it once thus far, and yeah - it was bloody annoying.
This is, unfortunately, a problem that can only really be fixed through moderation. People like this need a ban, ditto survivors that play hide and seek forever when you've got 2 kills.
And thus we come back to DBD's horrific reporting system.
Not sure if you were here but they proposed a change to the reporting system back in the 5th anniversary livestream. There's a reason it never came to fruition. It was worse.
All that to say I don't expect any good changes on that front.
-
1) Rebalance maps and add a loop weight system.
2) Rework MMR completely.
3) Add incentives to fresh hooking.
-
@StarLost said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3294638#Comment_3294638
The problem is that this is a fringe scenario - and most 3gen situations are a hell of the survivors' own making. I don't want to see perks nerfed because of some poopers taking games hostage - there has to be a more elegant solution. It's also not like Boil Over, where one perk could be gutted to remove the problem. Eruption makes this easier, but I'm sure you could accomplish something similar with other perks.
The only counter I can imagine is a 4man with PE, but you'd have to go in knowing what to expect. Which isn't realistic.
I've seen this twice tonight.
Killer loads in, finds three close gens, never leaves.
