Agreed. We care more about mix and matching then we do about these sets.
-
Theres already a Jane and Clown skin coming next patch that are a set too. Big RIP.

If they begin creating one piece dresses and other more complex outfits, I think that's awesome. Although it would still be nice to customize the parts that won't create clipping issues.
Let's consider the possibility that Cheryl's green rarity cosmetics weren't Konami's call to be made into a set and it was done to avoid clipping issues with the long vest and her green skirt. When selecting the vest, make it lockable to the jeans and not compatible with the skirt. However, when selecting the head or legs make them mix-and-matchable with her other cosmetics.
Just saying cause I'm definitely looking forward to the ladies getting some cute dresses. But I certainly hope we get to at least be able to mix and match the heads.....
Even if it looks like a one piece dress, it's not. The dev's still split it up and create icons and descriptions for each individual piece. Aleesa's dress is split at the waist and I'm sure Jane's will be too. We're just unable to change them.

Might as well post this screenshot here as well for those who don’t know yet, but the upcoming Jane and Clown skins will also be sets.

Sorry I shouldn’t say confirmed, but it looks highly probable from this screenshot. While I would understand the dress (torso/legs) being linked, there’s no good reason why the head shouldn’t be able to separate.

Ooh that does look pretty. But you're right I would be pissed if you can't mix and match that regardless. ESPECIALLY if I like her headpiece. I guess well find out.
Where did you find that photo? Does a high quality one exist?

Its already confirmed that the Jane and Clown cosmetics from the midchapter patch are sets. There’s probably gonna be more as well. Sets are going to become super commonplace unfortunately and will still cost $10 even though you are getting way less value from it.
Are you sure the Jane one is? I thought it was a Spirit and Clown outfit that were sets but the rest weren't?

That’s gonna be the biggest problem, they are definitely going to oversaturate the amount of sets vs mix/match, calling it now. Sets should remain a super rare occurrence.
I already heard there's gonna be like two killer set outfits in the Mid chapter patch. Like gross. Go away.

Ehi, just wanted to point out (if it's not clear) that set cosmetics will not completely replace "not set" cosmetics. They will be added alongside them. So you can expect both types of cosmetics to come in the future. They will not completely replace normal ones.
Just wanted to be sure this was clear. 👍️
I think most of us understand that. We just dont want it to be a common thing. I'd still prefer like 80% of cosmetics be split up. And maybe about 20% as Sets. I dont want to see a lot of sets personally.
And even then, there's still going to be disappointment when there's a new set and we like the head, or bottoms, but can't use it with our other cosmetics. Just seems like a lose lose situation everytime.
-
All you talking about rather starting at a womans butt lmao. I'm gay and only play female characters.
-
I agree. Part of the reason I buy an outfit is because I can make it my own. When I'm forced to wear it together, it loses its value.

This is a dress... I could understand the hair being seperate, but the dress itself needs to be able to cover the top and the bottom.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/6HGNN1L52644/20200703221126-1.jpg
This is the new Nea cosmetic and the problem HERE is the jacket has a hood. That jacket is interacting with both the head and the top of her torso. While you MAY be able to make the claim that she should be able to mix and match a different pair of pants in, swapping out the head here would either result in no hood (which would be weird) or hair sticking out through the back of the hood.
The Aleesa outfit IS already split up. If you buy the outfit. Each piece has it's own icon, the top, head, and bottoms are separate pieces, the game just doesn't let you change them.
-
Most of the time, if I buy a full outfit its because I can personalize it. I'm not gonna fork over money for an outfit I can't make my own.
-
Their excuse is to create more complex outfits and not have to worry about clipping. But honestly most of us don't care about that. We like to mix and match.

I understand that but I personally would only want Legendary skins to be sets. Not being able to mix and match outfits is taking away from actually customizing our characters. If Bunny Feng was a 3 piece set, why can't Nea's be one?
I saw someone else ask that question and Peanits simply said it was because that outfit was created before they developed cosmetic sets.
-
The dev's have said the cosmetics will be available in the shop 6 months - to 1 year after the Rift ends. The charms however are exclusive.

Zarina has a top that drapes over her pants. I wear it with my p3 pants and don't experience clipping.
Yes but if I remember correctly, that top only drapes in the back mostly. Plus Zarina doesn't have as many pants options as Nea. I'm not saying it's impossible for them to do it, I'm just trying to see their perspective on why they might've restricted the pants.

Oh I won't be buying any of them, I really like this new Nea outfit but I'm not buying it because of the fact that I have to use the whole set. It's really ######### dumb and I can't believe that anyone on the design team thought this was a good idea. Literally no one cares about clipping issues, they've existed since the game first started so why care about them now? All it does is make every linked cosmetic worse, and this whole thread can agree. Just unlink the cosmetics Behavior, we are not buying into this terrible idea.
I'll say I care about clipping depending on the severity. If there's a piece I really like that clips badly with another, I want that fixed ASAP as my OCD goes crazy. If it's a small issue it doesn't bother me although I try to always report clipping issues.
-
@PrincessPoop said:
I really really hope they don’t go overboard with these sets.... I know that for me personally I will be MUCH less inclined to buying set cosmetics so they would really have to wow me in order for me to consider it.
Same, like for Aleesa. I LOVE the head piece, it makes me so mad I can't use it separately.
I'm really afraid something like that will happen in the future. I'm not excited about these sets. If it's a different character model sure, otherwise I'm afraid.
-
@Johnny_XMan said:
I think that they should allow pieces that COULD stay as one separate piece, separate.
Like Nea's pants for example. There is virtually no reason it couldn't stay as a separate piece... even if it was designed as one whole 3D model, they could separate it within the 3D program, it's just a bit more work. The hood from the waist up could be it's own piece.
Sometimes people love to mix and match because there are parts of the outfit they don't like. That's a HUGE part of DBD and it gives it some sense of freedom in terms of customization. So I feel that people will not be as inclined to purchase witth 0 customization.
I think the reason why they made it so the pants can't be split is because the hoodie drapes over them. It prevents the hoodie from being able to clip with other pants.

But why can't I change my weapon when using the bunny outfit for the Legion? It won't cause any clipping whatsoever, why not just bind the body and head cosmetic?
Well it was probably part of Konami's agreement that any part of his characters designs can't be split up. Including the knife.

Personally I like the inclusion of linked sets, they can get more creative with outfits now and not have to worry about clipping issues.
The Clown's Pulcinella outfit clips with itself. And it still does even today.
First bug report, before the first bug report subforum restructure: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/65462/the-pulcinella-outfit-clips-with-itself-in-the-lobby#latest
Second bug report, after the subforum restructure but before the new system with the "Pending" / "Acknowledged" etc. buttons: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/95492/clowns-pulcinella-outfit-clips-with-itself#latest
It's not a linked set but it should absolutely not clip with other parts of itself. This set went live with clipping issues and the clipping survived (at least) two bug reports. The clipping is also not hard to notice at all.
Equipping all pieces of the outfit is equivalent to it being a linked set and equipping that. Yet there were still obvious clipping issues when it was released and to this day it was not fixed.
I feel you. There's a few outfit descriptions with really bad spelling and punctuation errors. Something you think would take literally not even 5 minutes to go in and fix. I reported it, they said they would add it to the list and since then, nothing.
It's been over a year and they really couldn't go in and fix some grammar mistakes?
-
@Dead_by_Gadfly said:
Is that march 11th or November 3rd?
I'm assuming it's November 3rd. Since BHVR uses American spelling and punctuation within the game. Who knows though.

Linked sets are a new feature so we’re probably going to be seeing a lot more of them but they’re still going to continue creating separable cosmetics of course.
Technically all the dresses will still be split up. Even with these linked cosmetics. They still create icons for each 3 pieces, you just can't separate them.
-
Wasn't that always the icon for PC? I remember people asking before this patch why they had that icon when other platforms had the one with the survivors face.

You can't play the game until you update it.

Oh god no we need to start giving cosmetics to other characters than Feng, Claud, Nea, and Meg
The reason why they get so much is because they're played more often. Likely because they're free characters (Feng is free on console).

True,it also happened with Nancy's Christmas Sweater if im not mistaken? If i recall correctly, she was missing her necklace too, that's why im still hoping they make her more true to her Silent Hill 1 look, and the most important too,a Unique Voice so it's completely different
I don't think she was ever missing her necklace. I remember when the sweater first came out most of the necklace was clipping into it so you could hardly see it.

I wouldn't say those are the ONLY possibilities.
Neither would I, which is why I said this:
Probably more I can't think of right now.
I will note, however, that such a bug has never been reported. When pressed, people have always admitted to having disconnected a lot more than they claimed.
I assumed you didn't mean it was an issue with the game itself when you made that statement. Just based on your previous comments. My apologies

It's not possible to be banned for 6 hours on your first DC. A few things are possible:
- You disconnect a lot more often than you realize.
- Your last disconnect was much more recent than you realize.
- Someone was playing on your account and disconnected a lot.
Probably more I can't think of right now. Regardless, you will not be able to get this lock-out lifted.
I wouldn't say those are the ONLY possibilities. DBD is far from a perfect game. It would not at all surprise me if the game bugged out and gave him a ban much higher then it intended. I'm not saying it's super likely, just saying it's not impossible.

Licensed characters do not receive the crowns.
-
@GoodBoyKaru said:
The devs said they'd be exclusive. Circumstances changed and they backed down on that decision because so many people that did grind for them lost them. Then they were released to everyone because the devs couldn't accurately give everyone back their lost cosmetics. This all happened because of a storage failure and current event cosmetics are stored in a much safer way. If you don't want to grind in the hopes this happens again, then be my guest and don't. Just don't be upset if you don't recieve them later.
I completely agree with your statement. However, didn't the devs say they no longer have any intention of including exclusive cosmetics in the game any more? I mean all the Rift items (excluding charms) come back after a minimum of 1 year. So I would not at all be surprised if they brought the crowns back in a future event so as to not leave anyone out.
It would be nice if the crowns remained exclusive, but why would the devs go back on their word on not having anymore exclusive cosmetics? When they use the word "exclusive" now, they usually mean exclusive for a limited time. For example, a year, before they're brought back for the people who missed them later down the road.
-
You don't get a new piece everyday, there are set days that the pieces unlock throughout the event. You can find those dates on the official event description on the website. I don't have the link at the moment but you can find it rather easily.

I believe the devs said that cosmetics will be purchasable 6 months after their respective rifts at some point, which means that rift 1 should be coming up pretty soon.
Charms are not obtainable after the rift ends
Someone please correct me if i am wrong.
I believe they said 6 months to 1 year after it closes. Although they did confirm the community outfits will be available in the mid chapter.

Maybe to help others understand, people should start listing how this has negatively affected them. I'll start.
I use to think I was super cool because I had an exclusive cosmetic. Now that they are available to everyone I feel like just another nerd playing a video game.
It also just makes acquiring them not feel as rewarding. Why try to get these cosmetic if they're going to be given out for free a few years down the line to everyone?

Nope it's a cosmetic in your inventory. Not an item so you can't lose it.

The Blight cosmetics were made available after their initial event, both in the store and next year, where were these low-effort jokes back then?
I think the only difference is those outfits were put in the store as soon as the event started. These still aren't in the store so it seems like they could be doing them in a different way maybe?

It'd be awesome to have "The Man In The Mask" as his own character.
I can't really see him as a skin for any current killers. Trapper is the only one I could see him as being a skin for, but no bear traps are used in the films, so it would have to be for a future unlicensed killer.
The map could be the trailer park from the second movie, with the main area being the pool. That, or the getaway house from the first film could work.
All I know is I would main the ######### out of Pin-Up Girl. Though having the least screen-time, she is my favorite of all three strangers.
I was offended she was giving like one scene in the last movie and then died. Like who tf made that decision?
