Like I said multiple times, I don't think they made a way to link only two pieces together and are too lazy to admit it.
That's probably what happened. But they never should have said that sets are "2 or more pieces" in the patch notes.

I don't remember anything like that.
All I know is that these outfits:
-Will be available with shards
-Will be available at minimum 6 months after their official debut in the rift.
They said 6 months to 1 year. However, in an update a couple months ago, they said the two community outfits would be available in the last patch. Perhaps they changed their mind or forgot about it.

@Veen said:
They'll be eventually they didn't actually told when.
I don't remember where, but I do believe I remember a dev mentioning that those two community outfits would be available in this last mid chapter update. I believe it was in a developer update that that was mentioned in. You'd have to search for it.

I like it! Although I do feel like David should of at least had a British accent if the actor was American.

So much for linked sets xd
That happened to me a couple times.

We got sets due to everyone willing to buy a cosmetic set for Bunny Feng. That is why they added sets. So outfits would like great and they could do special outfits that are different from the norm without it looking like a dumpster fire. I'm looking at you Bunny Feng. It wasn't connected so it's not that great looking. The new linked outfits look great, whether you like it, other's love it.
We wanted a linked outfit. We got linked outfits. Everyone is now complaining about linked outfits. Either choose something or don't bother opening your mouth. They gave us what we wanted. Be grateful.
I've never seen anyone actually ask for cosmetic sets. The only exception was Bunny Feng because of the hood, and even then I've seen people complain that they can't change the legs.
I've seen way more complaints about the implementation of these sets then I have seen praise for them. In fact I've seen little to no praise. Sure there's some people that don't mind them, but when there are at least 4 or 5 threads complaining about these sets every time one comes out, I think that's enough to show BHVR that they're not wanted here.
TLDR - People care more about customizing their characters then they do about having an out of the box outfit that they can't customize.
-
@Peanits Can we at least get an answer as to why her head can't be unlinked? In the patch notes it said cosmetic sets are sets of "2 or more cosmetics". So I don't see why we can't use her head separately.
-
Is it bad that I bump this until we at least get a reply from a dev?

Understandable but the time it takes to grind 21000 is a while and then to buy more its even longer so they still have to buy im devotion 4 and have been saving since around devotion 2 just to get 50000
Yeah they make it a grind so you'll fish out real cash.
-
An exchange system won't work because they want a currency that you can only get with real money.

@Pawcelot said:
How are they going to be able to snatch a big $10 from every player who want the Jane skin if you could just get the head for a few dollars?
Yeah but a lot of people won't buy it at all if they can't mix and match it.
-
@Mandy said:
Must admit these are some of my favourite skins so far.
Mandy, are you able to tell us why we can't use Janes head separately?

It’s funny because they even made a seam at Janes waist which makes no sense because that’s what they do to all cosmetics to separate them
Even with the seam, that's not where the cosmetics split. The seam is above her belly button and the cosmetics still split at the waist.

And you're telling me you couldn't have the top portion of the dress worn with the bottom covered up by her pants if you wanted? Or the opposite, with the bottom/skirt part of the dress flowing and having a different top? I just don't get why where the dress splits would prevent a cosmetic set from being able to be mixed with others.
If you wore her bottoms with a different top they would clip tremendously, since the bottoms extend past her waist.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Claudette has a skin (2 if you count the recolor from the rift) where she has a dress, and they're still perfectly mixable. I don't understand why other cosmetics wouldn't work the same way.
Hell, I'm pretty sure there's a glitch where people can split up the Nea outfit and I've seen it with individual pieces (the headpiece without the hoodie for sure) and I didn't even notice any problems.
I can kinda understand the "clipping" argument for having sets, but I don't completely understand it when they're barely any different model-wise from the original character. What do I know though? I'm just a player, I don't design the stuff..
Its because all dresses up until this point split at the waist. Janes doesn't. Hers splits like above the belly button.
-
Linking the heads and weapons are dumb though.
-
Mandy Isn't a community manager.
-
Janes hair got the biggest change. It was full on blonde in the trailer.

Meg probably is for the customers who don't own any DLC.
Well Feng is also free on every platform except PC and Mobile.
-
@Volfawott said:
If you really want just the head just do the Nea thing.
Go to the store then go full outfits buy one of her Brown recolors equipped it. That should keep the Greek legends head cosmetic on leave the store and then you're able to change the top and the bottoms freely.
If you change the head cosmetic you will have to repeat the process.
Do not buy the set and use this with the guarantee that you can mix and match with the head thinking it's going to remain forever as it's possible that it could be patched out so unless you want to do full cosmetic I suggest you don't try
They already patched that. I just tried it. It changed her head to the default one.
-
It wasn't even an issue with Nea's head. AT ALL. All they had to do was finish the back of her head by giving her a buzz cut and it would be good. The head worked fine with other cosmetics.
-
@Veen said:
I mean Feng is probably the most profitable character for BVHR when it comes to cosmetics, it makes sense.
I feel like that would be Meg? Maybe Kate? Feng is definitely up there though.
-
Yeah not sure why it was blonde in the trailer and brown in game. Maybe it has something to do with the graphics they use?

Honestly I think Nancy's ponytail has been the best middle ground in terms of physics so far.
While I don't know changed it because I don't play Nancy at all outside of dailies when it was released it had decent physics.
I actually think Jane's rift hair is the perfect example of a happy medium. Not as crazy as before but it's definitely not at all stiff.
-
@Volfawott said:

I don't mind if they don't go back to what they had before even though I did like it.
Even if it's just very mild bobbing or swaying it would at least be better.
It just feels really awkward having such a nice hair cosmetic and then it basically just being cardboard in terms of physics.
Same problem with some of the other ponytails especially This Min cosmetic, Yui's Greek legends one and Kate Rift one. It's especially noticeable when you get hooked as it just stays stuck in the air.
Yeah I'd like a happy medium. The hair before was way too unrealistic and caused glitches. Now this hair is too stiff. I don't think it's in their top priorities though.
-
All the new hair will never have as much physics as before. It sucks but I doubt they'll change it.
-
Everyone please just cosplay as anyone but Legion. Literally 90% of cosplays I see are Legion. They're all great but it gets so repetitive.
-
Only Jane, Oni, and Clown were linked. But I agree. I think most of us hate the linked cosmetics.

ah ok I was under the impression that it would be a legendary cosmetic.
No Legendary changes the character model completely. Jane's is just a very rare linked cosmetic set.
-
I'm pretty sure the dev's have stated they only added prestige as a means of something to do for long term players. It's not something they necessarily think everyone should be doing.

The fact you didn't put David on the list despite the fact he somehow manages to have a thicc torso, pretty good ass, thicc legs in the shorts, and a thicc bulge in his dia de los muertos trousers makes me sad and disappointed.
Also Pyramid Head is very thicc too.
David doesn't have an ass and I think that's what we're all focusing on lol

Oni's isn't a set, Oni's is a legendary skin. Also, skin color doesn't matter because all of Nurse's skins have different skin color and it isn't THAT much of a problem.
Oni's is a set. It is a Legendary set, just like Lisa. The other linked skins are Very Rare sets.

@AVoiceOfReason said:
If the outfit looks great, I don't mind if its linked. That Minotaur outfit is fantastic. If I played Oni, I would have bought it. I'm hoping for a good skin that is unique for either survivor or killer that I like playing as. Preferably Billy, Claudette or Hag.
The only problem is if you like a head (or weapon) for example, you realistically should be able to mix and match it without clipping issues. I love Jane's Greek outfit. However, I'd love to use the head on other combinations. But the fact that it's locked when in reality it would cause almost no problems if it wasn't, is in itself a problem.
-
If they won't give Plague her own actual map I doubt they'd do it for cosmetics lol

True, but that would mean making a second version. I'm not against it, but it is more work to implement. Lets hope they decide to do more 2 piece links than 3 if they're going to be doing this a lot.
They dont need to make a second version. Just add some buzzed hair to the back of the current one. It wouldn't cause problems with the hood.

@cheetocultleader said:
I'm not overly impressed on the Legendary side of things. Lisa has new animations at the very least, but Oni does not. I don't even feel like his voice fits the new legendary either. Nor does Cheryl's voice really fit Lisa's, tbf. If they weren't going to do anything but create a new skin, it should just be an iridescent skin. People are within their right to purchase them, but Oni's feels like rip off more so.
Linked in general I'm ehhhh about. Like Nea's looks great, and I understand why they did it since half of her head is bald without the hoodie and her outfit pieces overlap in such a way it wouldn't work without adjusting them for current single pieces. I'm just much less inclined to buy those since I like to mix and match. Still, it does give them a little creative room, so maybe we'll see a couple more great pieces. I just don't want this to be what they release the most.
All they have to do is finish the back of Neas head and to-da it looks fine. The head already works with other cosmetics.
-
Not being able to at least use the head and weapons are ridiculous. Neas head worked fine with the other cosmetics and I'm sure Jane's would too.

oh okay, I never knew they answered this question. Thank for the clarity. That make sense on why Jane is the first one to have a complete full dress.
That's why people are made we can't at least mix and match the heads and weapons as those will almost never experience clipping issues.
-
@idektbh said:
I get that by locking skins they can get creative and stuff and ok, but like clown’s weapon and Jane’s head for example makes nonsense being locked with the rest, imo.
They could make it so in both situations, if u equip the top of this cosmetics it would also equip the lower one, since they would look weird separated, and then leave the killer’s weapon and survivor’s head to the owner of the account to choose from.
I don’t see what would be the problem, unless they wanna do a complete different person like they did with Lisa, in that case, I understand everything being locked.
Exactly. Even Neas head looked fine with other cosemtics.

It's not about it look strange/clip, it's for you to commit to a look.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1495627#Comment_1495627
The weapon is part of the look, therefore it needs to be locked.
That's not the reason the dev's use when asked why they made cosmetic sets. They said it's to create new ideas that won't clip and they don't have to worry about it potentially looking bad with other cosmetics. The answer that has always came out of their mouth every time this is brought up is clipping issues.

I think they are testing at the moment how far they can go with the price on the skins, and with this one they are really stretching the limit imo

Good and bad. Take legion's bunny suit for example.
It would be stupid if you could put the hat on his regular clothes, or visa versa. However you can't change weapons.. why? I feel like the rusted pipe would look good on other builds and a bunny with a combat knife is still horrifying.
It does let them be much more creative with their outfits, especially with Oni looking like a completely new character. In other games (i.e. dota) this can get out of hand and players can't tell what the characters are from a distance- something they should be able to do.
To be fair, if you've been playing long enough, you can tell what killer it is before you even see them by their chase music. As each killer gets their own, you can tell who it is almost immediately.
-
I'm fine with it but locking in heads and weapons when they clearly don't need to be is ridiculous.
-
Yeah I'm gonna be pissed when I can't use that Jane head with other items even though it would work just fine.
-

@ZaKzan said:
too many people were using auras to give them an unfair advantage over newer players. The devs have remedied this by making auras near invisible as to give newer players more of a chance of hiding from the killer.
If this makes it so colorblind players can't even play the game it's not worth it.
-
I will forever bump this thread until the problem is fixed. My boyfriend is colorblind and if it's in a state where normal sighted people can't see the auras, then this is a major issue.
-
Of the 9 upcoming skins. Only Clown, Jane, and Oni are linked.
