  • It's never going to happen. You're better off focusing your energy on other suggestions.

On the one hand, teaming up with survivors is actually a legit reason for a ban.

But on the other hand, how can a moderator actually prove that you are teaming up with them? It's almost impossible to prove to prove.

Giving the hatch to the last survivor is optional, and the killer can do it. They won't ban you for that.

The typical scenario for that ban reason to be applied will be this:

Let's imagine you find a troll survivor, who will go with you and reveal their teammate's positions. This could be considered "teaming up" with survivors but...

Can you really get punished by this?

    I don't think so.

You are just taking advantage of a person who's trolling, it's not your fault. It's their fault.

So who must be punished? Obviously, not you.

I have found this type of trolls in my matches as killer, and my behavior has always been the same.

I take advantage of the information those survivors are giving me, and I finish the game quickly.

It's no use playing the game normally when you find trolls like that.

It happens in every team game. For example, you can find trolls in League of Legends who will feed the enemy team. Do they ban people who take advantage of these trolls in LoL? NOPE. They just ban these type of people, and we are good to go. In DbD, it's the same.

Never fear threats coming from survivors. You will never be banned unless you are using 3rd party apps to cheat.

In this game, like in ALL online games, moderators don't even care about written toxicity (insults, gg ez...etc).

So never use cheats and you'll be completely fine and secure (that's what I do).

You can totally be banned for that and it has happened and discussed here on the forums even not long ago. If a survivor on the receiving end records the game, you will get banned. Just count your blessings because it hasn't happened to you. Yet.

If you run into this kind of trolls, you down them immediately. NEVER EVER follow them around to be shown where the other survivors are.

You're sorrily mistaken when you say you're taking advantage of a person who's trolling if they rat out their teammates and you go along with it. You are actually teaming with them and IT IS your fault. Taking advantage of their trolling without fault is to kill them when they run up to you.

Also, saying that one can be banned only for 3rd party programs is total misinformation that you should stop spreading.

Back to the OP, you did nothing wrong. You're allowed to choose your target. You're allowed to give hatch. In your story, Feng didn't help you in any way to kill Quentin. There was no teaming involved.

  • @TreSen said:

I thought the whole point of the overheat mechanic was just to prevent hookcamping. The previous iteration did this. :/ They basically listened to us and rebalanced him, then just decided to undo that out of no where.

The goal was to add resource management. They also don't like facecamping, but it's kinda funny they come up with a mechanic to address that as well, when there are many other killers that can easily do it.

  • I'm a former Billy main. I can't try him right now, but I'm not really surprised they tweaked the chainsaw again. It went from almost always overheating to almost never overheating to this. I've already stated many times on this board that this mechanic seems too difficult to balance. However, they invested time and money into it, so it's not going away.

  • I was watching a stream yesterday and the guy was 4-man swf'ing all red rank survivors fully loaded. They got a streak of rank 20 killers with one or two perks, some of them were clearly at their first or second game. A few hours of stream was like that.

They should temporarily revert to the old system until they figure out what is wrong with the current one.

There is something you can do: don’t get found. You’re not meant to win most chases against a killer.

This is a very ignorant statement that should never come from someone as experienced as you are. You could have just posted some Git Gud memes and it would have had at least some comedic value.

To the OP. Hawkings pallets are best played as a rank 20 would do (no joke). Provided you have some distance, you pre-throw one or two unsafe pallets. Taken in isolation, they're borderline useless. However, depending on the exact setup and provided you have some lead, the killer will often be forced to either kick or build too much bloodlust. Also, there are several pallets, so it's no use being too greedy

The pallets that are against one wall and some junk like barrels or crates are very unsafe. However, when pre-dropped and with some distance, you can often loop the long wall side or chain with another pallet.

There are some exceptions for obvious reasons. For example, the pallets that are against the outer walls, because you can't loop outside the map. Or those that are inside the rooms against the inner walls, but the exits of the room force you to cut back toward the middle of the room and therefore toward the killer. Those need a stun.

If there are stairs in the room, you can often chain those with the dropped pallet and force the kick.

For stuns, almost every killer with any experience will respect the unsafe pallets unless they have Enduring, which is also a gg on these loops. Generally, the third fake is the last one. Good killers will be very patient though and on some of those pallets they'll almost be impossible to stun.

Depending on the killer power, this whole conversation is subject to change. Some powers are pretty much a gg on this kind of loops. The strat is to hold m1 on gens, run early and hold W as long as possible. Not very interactive for either side, but this is the game design meta in this day and age.

  • This is such a broad topic that it's really hard to give specific tips without watching you play.

Regarding what you asked, if you down a survivor and there's another nearby that you're confident you can down quickly, that's a good spot to slug. By doing so, you'll get other survivors off gens aka you waste their time.

Regarding survivor wasting your time, that might be an issue of you overcommitting to chases.

That's if more than one are burned. You can have 4 ormond and 1 game, and go to the game.

But if it's just one offering, it has ALWAYS taken me to it. In 4 years I've never seen a single offering burned, AND ignored.

Even if it's only one offering, the modifier is not 100% and it can fail. It's bene confirmed not long ago.

  • This won't work in dbd. Killers are already faster than survivors. A stamina system would be redundant.

This is not F13 where Jason is slow.

  • Too logical and straightforward. DbD needs something more convoluted or else it would be impossible to translate it into spaghetti code.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I still can't believe BHVR literally went and SAID THEMSELVES the mmr is currently fucky and there are still people defending the MMR system. Mind boggling.

Well, hypotetically, let's say player X is experienced and matchmaking keeps putting them into GG ez games against people who installed yesterday (basically what is happening to me and others).

Now, imagine that player X is also the kind who does want GG ez games.

I guess you already figured out where I'm going with this.

  • Probably hours played would be a better indicator. Rank correlates with hours and skills, but only loosely. Of course, a rank 20 with one perk probably hasn't played much at all and isn't skilled as well. However, someone with thousands of hours who doesn't play for a couple of rank resets could pose a problem. Using rank in that instance would skew matchmaking.

  • They seem to teleport to the location where they were on they screen when they were downed. It can happen if either one of you lags.

I have 30-35 ping stable and generally lagging survivors teleport forward on the ground. Lagging killers instead hit me from far behind and sometimes they get confused as to where I am on the ground.

  • Maybe they already do. We have no idea what is 'skill' for mmr puirposes.

The problem with considering maps is that one would also have to assess rng on top of that. Two separate instances of the same map can generate wildly different setups in strength. And that would also have to be measured against the specific killer played.

  • I got an average team with Myers, which I'd been playing a lot before the patch. Then it went very downhill from there. They're literally throwing baby Dwights at me.

An easy team with Clown, whom I hadn't touched in maybe 3 weeks.

A very sweaty team with Huntress, OoO and all the rest. I haven't played as her in a couple of months.

I don't know if this helps. Anyway, what looks backward to me is that I'm stomping teams and I get matched with increasingly easier competition. At least, that's my experience right now.

I 4k'd 10 games in a row on Nurse (rank 1 killer) and still got low yellow ranks with under 50 hrs. So.....I dunno

    @SloppyKnockout said:

I've played over 60 matches as Wraith (I'm at rank 1), and 4k'd literally every game.12 hooks and short chases, maximum of 4 gens getting done WITHOUT slowdown perks...and I'm still facing newbies.

So no. 20 games my fat pimply ass.

Count me in with Myers. I'm past 30 games as of today. Had a 3-man escape the first one and then all 4ks except a 3k. I lost count of the babies that are being thrown at me. In one of the last game one survivor had 1 (one) hour on log. I have 1500h and rank 1.

So you want every hook to be in a safe spot? The basement is supposed to be tough to get out of. Just because you run into killers who camp it or return to it quickly doesn't mean it's unbalanced, outdated, or anything like that.

It's the same logic why god windows got nerfed. The argument was that no window should be a safe spot. Same reasoning.

  • Officially, it's 10 games. Personally, I'm 22 games in with Myers and I still get absolute beginners. I'm always checking their played hours.

  • @Nicholas said:

I don't understand why they don't recycle the old events. I loved the lanterns, wish those would return. Also loved the plants during Halloween. I understand they tie the holiday event items to The Rift but they could just do the holiday overlays for the gens and hooks and double BP weekends.

Because, if they did, they'd probably unintentionally introduce 20 unrelated bugs that would cause the whole game to implode causing a black hole that vacuums you to the center of the galaxy, where you'd meet the Great Wise Man who'd reveal to you the great secret of the universe:

    Untitled Image

  • @Nicholas said:

For some reason I thought this was gonna be a new bug that allowed Survivors to cleanse totems and get healed afterwards. I wonder how fast they would patch that out.

    Same here 🤣

  • I agree, but at least we've got double engravings back. That's enough for me to forget the uselessly gimmicky fake-heat mechanic.

  • I'm all ears is a wasted perk on her. When it procs, you don't need it, because the fast vault notification is already a death sentence unless you're in your fatigue and then it doesn't help anyway. And when you need it, it doesn't proc. E.g. quick and quiet.

Her current meta perk is infectious. Beyond that, it's up to you. A meta build would be corrupt/surge/pop, sloppy/nurse's and bbq/whispers/discordance.

  • Looping is the reason this game was unique and became popular.

  • I can't watch the whole video, but about the point of not having a counter, I understand why it doesn't warrant a 10 in a vacuum. E.g. Legion's Frenzy doesn't have a meaningful counter when used correctly. You will land that hit. Yet, it's a completely non-lethal power and doesn't down a survivor if the killer-player can't beat them at normal m1 chasing.

  • It would've been much better if it actually disabled the item instead of consuming, even if only for the timer duration. Currently, it does nothing that it didn't use to.

It's simply an officially griefing perk. To think that they banned people for using Franklin's and dc'ing on purpose and then they rolled out this troll update.

But i am Surv and have 19 Matches (R1, 2k+ hours). Doesnt work. Still getting very ######### up games.

    Enlight me MR. Knowitall.

Same for me but with Killer. I have upward of 15 matches with Myers. First game was a 3-man escape with everybody on death hook on a disgusting rng Cowshed and the survivors were decent. After that it went from 0 to 100. It's all 4ks except a 3k. I'm still getting literal babies. Brown ranks with one perk. Players with under 100h and sometimes under 20 and even under 10.

I've not shown any mercy whatsoever fearing that it would only lower my mmr and put me against this kind of players. It hasn't changed a thing. The matchmaking doesn't care that I'm on a stomping streak. Whatever this system is supposed to do, it's not working.

I have 1500h and I'm rank 1. There's no excuse for matching me against beginners, even if only for establishing mmr. It doesn't take a NASA algorithm to know that no conclusions can be drawn from those matches even before they played out. except for the obvious one: that those survivors and I shouldn't be in the same lobby.

  • Yes, it's a an exploit of some sort. I've ran into these survivors before, they were two using no mither. They'd jump into locker and were ungrabbable. Then when I downed them, I couldn't hook and I couldn't drop, until they wiggled out.

  • I'd have never thought that I'd say I miss the old rank-based matchmaking. Of course, you got the odd instances of rainbow ranks in a lobby, due to traffic and queue times. But overall, it reflected skill better than whatever is going on now.

I can only speak for the killer side, but playing as the same killer and stomping over and over and still I get matched with players who bought the game yesterday.

Whatever they thought this system would do, it's not working.

  • Same here, although I've only played a couple of survivor matches. So, I speak more for killer.

My matches kept getting easier. I played almost exclusively Myers since a little before the update, except for dailies.

Despite stomping players who clearly have no idea how the game works, I keep getting matched with them.

Rank might not measure skill, but there's absolutely no reasonable justification for 1.5k hours rank 1 killer like me to be constantly matched with rank 20s with one perk and players with less than 100 hours.

Especially, considering that I'm riding a streak of well more than the required games for my Myers mmr to settle.

Bro, i have 1k hours as a nurse main and regularly 4k proably 70% of my games before this change at rank 1, something is off. I get that ranks aren't being used anymore, that's fine, I'm talking about the disparity in play. I'm playing people with double digit hours in this game with my 4 digit hours.

You're exactly right. I've played a ton of Myers since yesterday. My matches actually got easier despite constantly 4k'ing all but the very first trial and one 3k. Looking at the profiles, I was getting matched with players who were gradually newer and newer with fewer hours. In the late matches, I had many instances of players with under 100h and some under 20h. This despite having played well more than the 10 games for mmr to settle and having stomped my way through those.

Whatever this mmr is measuring, it's clearly not working in my case and I'm essentially destroying new players out of the game.

  • Either annoyed that they get useless teammates with the new MMR, or bored that they get a baby killer, or simply trying to de-mmr.

  • @SupaSlay3r20 said:

Until you've played enough games to properly sort out your MMR, you're moat likely to see numerous games like these.

Also, with MMR ranks will have no real meaning other than playtime.

Well, I made a thread about this. I played the required number of games, I stomped and it keeps giving me increasingly easier opposition. Rank doesn't mean anything in the new MMR. Still, at 1.5k hours, I shouldn't verse survivors that have under 100h and in some cases under 20h. And that's after I played a sufficient amount of matches for the mmr to settle.

  • @TheDFD said:

I know a lot of killer mains will disagree, but one thing that's boils my piss about deliverance is that you don't always get to use it, say you were the last person standing, someone on a hook already, as soon as you're hooked it will kill you both without giving you the chance to use it.

No matter the situation, if it has been activated you should get the chance to use it.

Even if it was activated after your first hook, you should still be able to, even if the chance of getting down is halfed or some #########.

Well, I'm a killer main and it wouldn't bother me if they made it usable. It shouldn't work from second stage, though. That's the risk-reward. However, from personal experience it's a perk that did most damage against me when used as anti-momentum. So, instead of saving it for end-game, take aggro as soon as it's activated and profit.

I wish more folks were honest with their post. It's not about fair, it's about you suck and don't want the game to end until you've killed everyone period. You want the gate to slap to zero so you can harass anyone trying to slip the gate open between you pressuring the last two doors next to each other and others want egc to start so they'll just die no matter what now 😂. You've got noed, you've got blood warden. Just ask the devs to chop the feet off survivors or turn the ground into glue traps so they can't leave until you've decided how they'll leave. Here's a better one, get good and they'll never open the door.

Ngl, generally I would find a post like yours to be counterproductive. However, in this case you've described accurately what transpires from some of the suggestions in this thread.

You're just describing the problematic mechanic in question as if that brings up a point against the mechanic being problematic.

    It doesn't.

This is a feature that can and should be changed.

If nobody's gone down to NoED or DH yet, there's no reason survivors should be automatically informed of it.

No, I simply applied your own thought process to show there's not an issue with the mechanic.

  • @Bard said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1503610#Comment_1503610

You don't signal you have DH when you basic attack.

You signal it when you oneshot a survivor using DH.

If you down somebody with the single, normal damage instance from a basic attack, that should in no way signal you have DH.

If you down somebody with a Ghostface mark, it's the same #########.

Maybe I should have said "you signal DH when you land a basic attack with at least 3 tokens". I thought that was kinda obvious from the context, but oh well. And since we're nitpicky, you don't need to down someone to signal the perk. They get the notification even if, for example, you hit someone who has the endurance status effect.

I don't think you understand why people 99 the gate - it removes any possible threat from Bloodwarden and makes it into a meme perk. If the killer wants to use it, they have to open the gate themselves - a risky and time-consuming venture.

Don't assume what I understand or not. Survivors don't 99 for that purpose alone. They do in order to have more time to perform rescues as well, which in that case actually works in favor of the killer too, because it encourages altruism. In regards to Bloodwarden, the situation is no different than it was from pre-EGC, except survivors actually risk getting trapped and dying to the timer when it's timed right.

  • EGC is working as intended. 99 is fair, as is pre-opening or anything in between. Focus on stopping the survivors before they complete the generators if you want to be in a better position. The EGC is purposefully not there as a means of extra pressure, so stop asking for it.

  • Unless it broke recently and I missed the memo, M2 doesn't reveal Noed, only DH, but that's likely an oversight.

As for the other two points and using your same line of reasoning from the earlier part of your OP, there's indeed a signal. You used your basic attack, that's when you reveal your perk. Also, that doesn't change the survivor objective to avoid your attacks.

  • I think bhvr should consider hiring some of those hackers to fix the bugs of this game, because they sure look like they're ahead of the curve.

  • It depends on the map. The devs want variety and some maps do have more unsafe pallets. In general, unless server hit validation works correctly and they decide what to do with bloodlust, I don't think the game is ready to switch heavily to unsafe pallets.

With more unsafe pallets, there would also be the issue that Enduring would quickly become meta and basically nullify everything the survivors do even when theorically they play the pallet correctly.

  • @xenotimebong said:

I don’t use stretched and I can see tall killers like Billy mindgame these kinds of tiles, you just tilt your camera down and you can see their head and which way it’s facing which is all you need. You really don’t need stretched to do it.

You're correct. That's because stretched doesn't raise the camera more than native, which is the deciding factor.
