  • Tapp has another great perk for the Ruin 2.0 world. It's called Detective's Hunch and I suggest you swap your Stake Out for it, because this is about to become the NOED 3.0 world.

  • Laurie. With David at least you got DH and if you use it well you can work out something during a chase. Laurie is pretty difficult now, especially with the undetectable changes. Unless you want to bring a key and sandbag your whole team.

  • It's possible. In that case, I could see Detective's Hunch becoming meta.

  • It has already been stated that Clown is F tier.

Actually, I want a rework for his add-ons. They are pretty boring and some of them like the Carburetor Tuning Guide are pretty overpowered in my opinion. But if they touch his basekit...

Very possible. Look at the Nurse. The community wanted her add-ons changed and BHVR nerfed her basekit.

  • I still don't understand how one could pulled that off, you can hear Myers tier up from 1 to 2.

I don't want to be that guy, but ranks haven't been removed from the tally screen. You'd have known that if you gave it a try first.

I said BHVR 'is removing' or are you confirming that is actually not going to happen?

  • @UwUMyersUwU said:

They won't release it because then we'll see the stupidly high percentage for DS Dead hard BT and Adrenaline.

I don't need stats to know that.

  • There's only one way to do that.

    1. Facecamp totem
    2. Genrush
    3. ?????
    4. Endgame!

    Ezpz.

Naturally. But if that's the case, those who can't play at a high level will derank to a place where they're more comfortable. That is the point of a ranking system, after all.

Not that we would be able to tell if someone deranks to a more comfortable place, given that BHVR is removing ranks from the tally screen and the matchmaking is still broken. Or is that considered the 'fix' to the matchmaking issues?

  • Easiest change to make it noob-friendly is to make Ruin change gen time to 100 sec, no regression penalty anymore. It still impacts the early-game and gens can still progress. It would still be used a lot, but new players can still stay on gens without the feeling that the bar is going backward and they can always look for the totem. It would also be less viable on forever builds and on impossible skillcheck doc.

  • @AhoyWolf said:

Spoiler: they are hiding the ranks after the match, maybe because of the flawed matchmaking system.

BHVR: Fixed a bug that showed the ranks of players in the tally screen after the match.

  • They could have made it so that grey and yellow ranks get slightly larger great skill check zones (like when using This Is Not Happening). That way Ruin is less oppressive for new players and they still get to practice hitting greats.

The Ruin changes are kinda meh.

  • Killer: Wraith

    Add-ons: none

Perks: BBQ, PGTW, Enduring and changing the fourth one. I don't have good perks on him.

Blood point magnet for sure, even without sacrifices. Also, straightforward to play, no headaches.

  • Bugs aside, she's essentially the same, just underused now (which I won't complain about).

  • I brought a cookie. I paid for it and no, you can't have it.

when "pretty good job so far" turns into "pretty frustrating so far" lawl.

Meanwhile i'm trying to do the Dark Senses challenge and every game there's BM and potato teammates. Post game its a rank 16-20 killers and 3 rank 19-20 survivor teammates regardless of my rank. My new years resolution might be to just be done with this nonsense.

Run Bond and Prove Thyself. You can burn a shroud to spawn with a teammate. Always work on a gen with someone else, if possible. That's one fewer person who could finish a gen without you working on it. Bail early if the killer is approaching and leave your teammate to deal with them, because you're 100% going to be the gen jockey for this one. Let your teammates go for saves (within reason).

  • Not a survivor main, but LF naturally attracts a lot of douchebags and trolls.

  • Fake pallet break. You'd be surprised how often it works even on higher ranks. Experienced survivors often play on auto pilot.

  • Replace SC with balanced landing. You're better off removing SC even before you have DS. You can use Bond or Kindred instead.

  • I don't think she'd need a buff on that based on a Huntress who played bad.

I was curious what my personal solo escape rate is, so I automated tracking of game results, just out of curiosity I was also tracking escape rates of other survivors and average BP, here are the results of 42 games so far.

Solo survivors escape rate is under 30%, as expected (Europe region, PC, purple-red ranks). What is strange is that my escape rate is much higher, but my average BP is almost the same. That's why it doesn't pay off to do gens and escape, you can get as much BP for hook-farming your teammates. DEVs must definitely increase BP for doing gens.

Killers get 6000 more BP on average per game. Average kill rate in my games is 61% (2.4k)

In case anyone wonders why my escape rate is high, I'm a try-hard escaper and use 3 aura reading perks.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/250/379SHE9FX9V5.jpg

Devs won't increase points for doing gens. BP for altruism are so high on purpose, to prolong games. That's the whole point of WGLF, it's a Ruin in disguise, it's meant to take survivors off gens. Similarly, BBQ is meant to take killers off hooked survivors.

That aside, thanks for posting. It's always interesting seeing this kind of data.

BHVR: did you guys say more Pig and Legion changes?! Right on!

People say gen rushing is just completing an objective, but tunneling and camping doesn't get that same excuse. Killer's job is to kill. So if I tunnel you to get rid of one survivor early, I'm just doing objectives :D

Yeah survivors are definitely bias, but personally I really don't care what people say. I play how I play for both survivor and killer. A survivor's opinion on how I killed them is completely irrelevant to me.

It's the fault of the asymmetrical structure of the game. As a killer, you get to see the end, even if it's the bitter end. You always have a chance to turn the table even when the gates are powered. Maybe you down a survivor and the other ones become stubbornly altruistic . Maybe you snipe the cocky survivor who wanted to teabag at the exit and gets too cocky, dishing out some deserved karma. As a Killer, it's not over until the post-game screen and, during the match, you always have something to do.

As a survivor, if you get camped and tunneled, you're just removed from the match and you spent most of it passively staring at the screen from the hook or the ground, plus you get cuck-tier bp for your inconvenience. So, I can see the reason in the disparity of the views. It's not bias, but the asymmetry of the game.

I can deal with Billy but ive always hated going against Wraith. Absolutely hate it. Especially since tru3 taught people how to play him. I can almost understand why people dc against certain killers. I never do, as i prefer to learn how to play better. But I've thought about it.

I doubt many people have piled up bell add-ons. The issue I have with Wraith is that 9 out of 10 times they're god-tier campers. Just today I ran a Wraith for 3 gens and then I got proxied and tunneled hard, always downed off the unhook. At least, he only got a 1k, which is more than I could hope for considering I was in solo q. Every time I don't run DS, this game makes me regret it immediately.

  • You're asking counters for solo, but the reality is that the best 'counter' is to hope you have competent teammates.

The best thing you can do is to try to prevent the situation from happening. Work on these gens and bail early. If the killer is not willing to leave the gens to look around for you and keeps patrolling, you'll be able to keep coming back to inch away at the gen. If they take the bait and start a chase, try to preserve the pallets in the area and be willing to take an m1 in order to make distance to lure the killer away.

Aggressive killers are playing suboptimally when doing this early game and will have a harder time to snowball later on, although it's still entirely possible.

Territorial killers sort have to play this way in order to snowball, like Trapper. Those are dangerous. In this case, the one thing you can do is try to interfere early with their setup by following them and disarming their traps. They will either have to chase you, or run the risk of having a poor network of traps when it comes down to endgame and at that point they're just m1 killers, even if it's a 3 gen situation. If it's a Hag and one of your teammates is being carried on her shoulder, take the opportunity to set off all of her traps.

When it comes down to the last generator, try to work on one that is not being pressured, unless you can reasonably expect to finish a gen with teammates before the killer interrupts you.

  • Luck is part of the formula, unfortunately (no pun intended). I did it first try with Clown on Rancid Abbatoir. The last survivor did everything she could to run away and find the hatch, but she didn't dc even tough it took me 3 runs to get her to the basement. So, fair to say I was super lucky.

I suggest playing Hag with Agitation, Iron Grasp, Ruin and a short-range tracking perk (Nurse's, Infectious Fright, etc.), because you're not trying to go miles away from the basement to chase survivors after your first hook, so BBQ is kinda pointless. Whispers could be useful to find the last survivor.

For the rest, keep trying and don't get discouraged. You're bound to get good rng with the survivors you're versing eventually.

  • @DBD78 said:

As a Clown main I am pretty happy with how he is. But let him carry one more bottle or two as base and he will be one of the best killers in the game. And would be nice to give him a add-on that makes the smoke green and that make survivors drop their items just like Frankins.

And he's laugh could be even louder just to make survivors more salty 😀

I think they should remove his grunt when he vaults as well.

For the rest, his true issue is the lack of map pressure, I don't know what they could do about it.

  • I say gg when it was really a good game. As a killer, it's usually the case win or lose, unless they play super immersed, bait-and-switch keys in the lobby, or taunt me. In the last two cases, I might say gg if I destroy them, because I have a blast when that happens, so I say the truth with gg.

As a survivor, if I go against let's say iri head+infantry belt+ebony with proxy and tunnel, honestly I don't see a reason to say it's a gg. Stuff like that is in the game, so I'll just move on. However, in all honesty, it's not a good game for me, so I see no reason to lie.

Simple answer is it's grey because they cancel each other out. A 1% increase isn't much.

Simpler answer is BHVR can't do math.

  • @Bustanut_Champion said:

I just never touched him because I thought his very basic power was weak, then tried him after years of playing and found out he was incredibly strong since I knew how/where survivors tend to move. So yeah, new main just out of the blue. People at higher ranks slept on trapper for awhile I guess.

He's strong against solo Q and fun to play as.

  • @ABannedCat said:

It would be logical really, and makes the atmosphere of the game more realistic.

And the best thing, survivor-mains cant cry about it being a nerf, because sound is so bad in this game, killers can't hear you anyway.

So its a win-win. Make it happen, devs.!

They can't hear yes and no. The default chase music really covers most survivor's sounds, especially with Iron Will. However, with Demogorgon for example, it's easier to follow sound cues. Maybe this is intentional because survivors can hear Demo's footseps as well. Same with Oni. Same with Spirit when phasing, but Spirit is bollocks anyway.

  • Bugs and beads rework aside, she's basically the same. People overreacted and many stopped playing her, which I definitely won't complain about, because she's just bad design like Legion was at release. Although, I admit it's fun to equip my Spirit whenever I see a SWF of neon Neas.

  • Ruin is just bad design to fix other bad design. It'd be counterproductive to make it basekit, because the perk is really discouraging for new players, who either sit there with a gen that goes backward, or they go totem hunt.

On the same token, the devs don't know (and neither do I) of a way to increase gen time without making camping OP.

This game is casual. As such, there are things that are bound to be unbalanced.

  • All this drama about waiting time is anedoctal. There are too many factors in play. PC and EU during the day, my survivor queues are super fast, while killer takes a few minutes. In the evenings, I have no problem from either side. Without stats we currently don't have access to, there's no way to tell if there's really a shortage of killers. Ultimately, ymmv.

  • They're there just to waste bp.

  • This would translate into totem hunt simulator 2.0

As of now, any way to increment gen time, either directly or by secondary objective, is problematic, because it would make camping the first survivor to death OP.

  • Adept Trapper. This one really was escaping me due to the gatekeeper emblem. I finally decided to play Trapper 'wrong' to have a chance. I got it on Azarov's. I spawned by the yellow excavator near the shed which had the basement. I put a quick trap at the pallet next to the excavator, which on paper is a bad a trap and then left, resigned to play all m1. As I was walking toward the middle, the gen in the other corner next to where I spawned popped. I head back and meet neon Nea and Yui who go clicky clicky and tbag. I chase Nea who goes toward the trapped pallet. She slams it and tbags while a pink Claudette goes clicky clicky. Nea blinds me as I break the pallet and then steps into the trap right behind her. From there it was a big snowball where I juggled the survivors, leaving slugs and baiting heals and flashlight saves. Eventually, after enough hooks, I slugged everyone, including a Jake who probably wasn't part of the gang and that I would've let go, if not for adept. I got 4 iridescents for that and set a grand total of one trap throughout the whole match, but dang it did work. The chat was as silent as a library in the aftermath.

  • Sanctum of Wrath is terrible for this. Once, I was playing survivor and I heard self-caring noises next to me. I looked around 10 good seconds until a Blendette stood up and ran away. She was legit invisible.

  • I don't think people lie about it. It's more like many are reluctant to admit to others and themselves that soft proxying and tunnelling are essential to keep pressure on survivors who play optimally i.e. they prioritize gens.

It isn't a secret how to play DbD. Survivors have to do gens and fast i.e. 'genrush', because there's a limited amount of resources they can use to defend themselves and they don't respawn. Genrush isn't toxic, it's meta and a necessary evil. Messing around doesn't cut it against good killers. On the same token, for killers 'proxying' and 'juggling' are necessary to keep pressure. Same for taking out a survivor quickly i.e. 'tunnelling', or you will lose gens. It's all meta against good survivors. And, finally, that's why BT and DS are meta perks.

Either side isn't doing anything wrong or have a responsibility for starting this, it's chicken and egg. It's simply a matter of game design that creates a vicious circle.

  • You need some luck, as many situations in this game. Use bond and prove thyself, then glue yourself to another survivor whom you see going for gens. That's one fewer generator that might get completed without you on it. If the killer is approaching, bail early unless you can complete the gen. You are the gen jockey for this one, not the looper. I would also consider using a shroud of union, just to get off to a good start.

  • I believe you could get merciless in red ranks that often with Legion. However, that's an issue that has more to do with survivor ranking and matchmaking. If survivors do what they're supposed to, i.e. split up across different generators, Legion instantly becomes an M1 killer with a 4 second stun out of a power that can't down survivors. Understand that this is not a knock on your skills, just that many red rank survivors don't know what they're doing. When Legion is matched with survivors who do, their power hurts the killer more than the survivors.

  • 60 survivor perks out of 74 are teachables. For killers it's 54 out of 66. Insane grind for bloodpoints. Game-breaking bugs that randomly appear after a PTB, when they weren't in the PTB. Unbalanced gameplay. I agree, there should be a lot on the priority list before bhvr even thinks about new content.

  • This will be a failure. I give it a month tops after the penalties go live and this forum will be flooded with whining topics to revert back to the no-penalty policy.

  • 7m24s is not a gen rush. Honestly, it's player's fault for using a D-tier killer when they could have gone with OP Wraith.

  • It's a casual game. Nobody gets rewarded for playing; you can't force people to play by punishing them when they don't want to play. These DC penalties are simply BHVR caving in to an overhyped idea of the community. It'll solve nothing, because it doesn't tackle the reasons players DC to begin with. People will just turn to other games and in a few weeks everyone will start complaining that the DC penalties were a bad idea and that we need operation health instead.

  • I hardly encounter any Spirits lately. Like every other nerf, players have an overreaction and many stopped using her. Which is funny, because she was barely touched and she's still S-tier.
