  • Can't say I've noticed a problem with pallets myself but my friend has noticed this issue recently too.

  • DBD has been noticeably more jittery for me with this update too. Sometimes it'll freeze for half a second like when I'm on a hook trying to hit the skillcheck.

  • Yes! I've had a situation where I was looping a hillbilly around and around a pallet about 4 times, they swung at the pallet I think every time even though they weren't close to getting a hit on my screen. When I finally pulled the pallet down (and they were swinging again) their hit didn't count. I never would have thought they'd been hit validated if they didn't immediately DC and then rant about it.

It's hard to explain but in situations like that before pallet validation you'd know they were laggy when swinging early constantly (only exception is Spirit Fury + Enduring). So it'd be better running through the pallet since you knew if you didn't you'd be hit through it anyway. With this change, you can now pull pallets down in (somewhat) confidence against laggy killers.

I can't comment too much for the killers side of it except when I've been completing my challenges I have had a few instances of hid validation. But in all instances I've never felt that cheated.

  • As someone who's playing a lot more solo survivor lately I'm quite excited about this. It'll mean more challenging killers which could get a bit stale after awhile but I'm still looking forward to better teammates (and not having to dodge survivors with 25hrs).

  • For the most part I like the new animations. Although we need smooth 60fps head bobbing back. It also needs to be possible whilst crouching (it isn't right now!). And I don't think your head looks up when you look up and are running. Please fix. Killers need to know when you're running around like a headless chicken.

  • Grats! I seriously keep forgetting this is a thing... I've really got to get them myself at some point.

  • I own all characters and am aiming to have all perks for all of them. Haven't prestiged any of them though. I've got all perks for all characters except for 4 survivors (Steve, Cheryl, Jill and Leon). I've always aimed to get all perks on all original survivor characters before licensed ones, seeing as though there are usually more cosmetics to choose from and you can purchase lots of them with shards.

I like to play mostly as female survivors as they are smaller. I used to main Claudette but now I tend to play more characters because I've earned/purchased skins for them and since they have lots of BP offerings and items and addons to use. I don't want to use all of them on Claudette!

  • At the moment it's Dead Hard, BT, Spine Chill and Aftercare. Aftercare is really good and a nice change, but Bond or Kindred would also suffice.

  • Ds is fine. In fact I think a QOL buff to remove the skill check and simply escape the killers grasp would be good.

I'd say when I equip DS, most games it's never used. So it's usually a waste of a perk slot, but it is comforting at least. There shouldn't be a requirement to hit a skill check when you are actually able to use it IMO.

Ok so I might be a bit slow here, but what do you mean by "stretched" exactly?

    bururruruururrubigcompressed.jpg

With nvidia filters and a bit of added .jpg for perfection.

  • It's easy to reminisce, but I don't think I'd want old old Freddy back. Remember slow down freddy? Freddy with Remember Me? With max tokens of old Remember Me and whilst being in the dream world and not an obsession, it'd take 1:20 mins (or 1:15) to fully open it if you weren't the obsession. That combined with NOED, old Mori and with old Undying Light to tunnel out the obsession made for boring, stretched out, tedious games.

Now remember, there was no hiding from old Freddy. If he wanted to tunnel, he would. So if you were the obsession and he had Dying Light and a Mori you'd better be good not being found, at all.

Sure there were fun moments like this:

    https://youtu.be/ljLp5jd2HEU

Or missing a skillcheck as he's about to hit you. But that doesn't negate the rest of it.

  • I guess it'd be nice as an option, but I probably wouldn't use it. One problem could arise though: it could enable farming groups.

  • Dying Light under certain circumstances. Basically, if you don't hook anyone, Dying Light simply gives a 33% buff to the obsession when it comes to altruistic actions.

Can't really think of any other perks that are worse than an empty perk slot so I'll list some that were in the past before they were buffed. If there was no flashlight, Lightborn would not be worth it since it used to dim the killer's POV by 10%. With shadowborn equipped you could argue the increased POV would be worth it but you used to be blinded 50% faster and it took up to 75% more time to recover from the blind. It also (and still does) gives survivors a wider angle to flashlight you from (similarly to M&A), allowing for things like flashlight saves even when you think you're safe.

  • Among other things like extending a chase or dodging a hit (when it works), Dead Hard gives you the comfort/confidence to take what would otherwise be considered risks.

E.G: Let's say you don't have Dead Hard. If you're looping around a small pallet and want to greed another loop when the killer is very close, they need to respect the pallet and hesitate for a split second. If they do that, nice you got another loop. However if they don't respect, you get downed. Now imagine if you had Dead Hard in that situation. It doesn't matter what the killer does, you'll still get another loop. DH therefore allows you to play more boldly.

It's also excellent against certain killer powers. Amazing against a huntress trying to zone you. Great against Trapper's traps, e.g. if you're being camped in basement with all exits trapped, just DH to escape. You can dodge a Nurse's hit after they blink.

It's also interesting to use in a few niche(ish) situations but I won't ramble on. I think it's the best exhaustion perk.

  • One of the more common cheats I see is survivors lag switching. Just had a game with one of those. Whenever they lag switch they look like they're running in a straight line, often into a wall. Then they'll TP wherever they want to go. If they get downed they're fine because they usually equip Unbreakable, No Mither and Soul Guard and can't be picked up due to the extreme lag switch.

Had a survivor do this when healing a downed survivor. Killer tried to pick her up and got bugged out in a weird carrying but not actually carrying the survivor pose the rest of the game until the survivor DCed.

  • There is probably a lot of progression cheaters but it's hard to report them unless they do something stupid like use a legacy skin with public achievements. In-game cheaters however are a lot more rare but they are very noticeably increasing and may I add (in my own recent experience reporting them) are taking ages to be banned.

  • Others have already answered. But if I may suggest a perk build that will help you feel a lot more confident at looping:

Dead Hard, Iron Will, Resilience, Spine Chill. AKA the vault speed build. It's not like the build will magically make you a better looper but will give you an advantage in chases and should make you more confident.

Also don't not use Dead Hard because others complain about it. People also complain about Borrowed Time, Decisive Strike or any other good perk. Use what you want. I point out that NOED could be reworked/nerfed slightly - that doesn't stop me using it.

  • I may have shamelessly used the ultra easy mode option by using Clown's exposed addon + extra bottles. Top it off with NOED, Undying + Haunted just to be overkill.

  • Update: Still no response after 17 days. That's 17 more days of potentially cheating and ruining other people's games. I had the blatant cheater in my pre-game lobby just a couple of days ago.

    image.png

    This is really poor.

  • Just use it! If killers don't complain about DH, it's DS, a while ago it was MoM before that was nerfed. I'd say enjoy it whilst it lasts. It'll inevitably be nerfed. I used to have the same mentality as you with old DS, old instant heal addons and especially instant flashlights... now I kind of regret not trying them out more (despite how ridiculously broken they were).

  • Yes they should be able to escape, why not? I presume you want this change due to survivors tbagging at the exit and you downing them to force them out (regardless of EGC).

But unfortunately standing in the exit for 5 or 10 seconds is a very common thing. Sometimes its to wait for other teammates or to distract the killer to hit you out to give some time to other survivors e.g. opening the other gate.

if it only lasts for 2 minutes than you can’t make it a hex perk anymore.

Yea, I suggested in that post that it should no longer be a hex perk if it was reworked this way. Edit: Reworking NOED in this way to help nerf the kind of playstyle OP described would be a very healthy change. It'd still be very strong, especially with good killers and might even need more adjusting after that. But at the very least it would significantly nerf that playstyle.

  • Completely agree. I read a good suggestion earlier that I mostly agree with:

For everyone who dislike NoED. What do you think of this rework? — Dead By Daylight

With the suggested rework, NOED is insignificant for those that play with the scenario you described. However those that actually play the game normally will hardly notice a difference. It's the same old NOED, except it lasts up to 2 minutes.

Also I feel like most people that have replied haven't even read your post. It's easy to type "just do bones lol" but the scenario you described is actually a problem that isn't solved by "just doing bones" for numerous reasons. Could be a large map with difficult to find totems. Can't be sure if all totems are done for sure in solo queue. Even if you focus on cleansing totems with perks or a map, doing all totems instead of gens creates a 3v1 situation with lets say at max 3 gens done if the first survivor was caught quickly - easily enough time for another survivor to be caught, hooked and camped to death (or traded to death).

  • Kind of funny how NOED would last 120 seconds with the full 6 stacks. When it was nerfed years ago and before it became a hex, it lasted 120 seconds at tier 3:

    image.png

It's not a bad idea though. But I feel like it should no longer be a hex perk at that point. So a bit like how STBFL used to have a default value of 40%~ but now you have to earn tokens for it to be 40%, the same could be done for NOED without the hex part. Basically reverting it to how it used to be like in the screenshot above, but you gotta earn it.

Then don't blame the killer for using noed. You made your choice.

    It's an easy choice though.

The choice of cleansing all dull totems means:

    • The team spend a collective 70 seconds cleansing dull totems (not including finding them) which are spread across the map.
    • Unless you're using a map, totem perk, have personally cleansed all totems or in a SWF or want to waste time running around the map specifically checking if all totems are cleansed - you don't know if they've all been cleansed.
    • Gens aren't progressing quickly, whilst the killer's objective is still progressing. Doesn't matter if you cleanse 5 totems, you still generally need to repair 5 gens to escape. If you're up against an amazing Blight, Nurse or Spirit with meta perks and addons, good luck. They will be snowballing like crazy, you need all the time on gens as you can get.
    • You're counting on the killer using NOED. If the killer isn't, it's a complete waste of time and you're against the clock in this game. Even if you make it out, perhaps another survivor is sacrificed where if you had just rushed gens, they could've escaped.

So trying to counter NOED ends up being more of an issue and inconvenience than NOED itself. Which is why it's pointless trying to cleanse 5 dull totems in most scenarios, as described in the second bullet point above.

  • @Unifall said:

Killers perks imo should never be "earned" survivors should be punished for not doing totems.

The only incentive to cleanse dull totems is if you want BP, have a totem related perk (e.g. Inner Strength), to reduce the effect of TOTH (which no one uses) or to prevent NOED.

So no, survivors should not be punished. I'm not cleansing 5 totems (with all the issues that entails, especially in soloQ) just in case the killer uses NOED - unless I'm having a really chill game where the killer isn't applying any pressure.

  • Huntress. Mindgaming her at loops is great. It's a great feeling when you loop a pallet and then stand still as if you're about to pull it down but as she charges her hatchet (if she falls for the fake) go around for another loop. But it's equally a good feeling predicting when they're not going to respect the pallet. Predict wrongly and you'll lose a health state. It's intense.

It's also fun generally trying to dodge her hatchets, even at unsafe loops.

  • As with every other killer with bad mobility (and even killers with good mobility), he suffers from genrushing. If survivors hammer those gens, particularly if you don't have any slowdown perks and/or at the highest level, you can still lose no matter how good you are.

But yes I'd say he's definitely worth learning. He's really good in 1v1's (and is one of the best killers for tunneling). Disclaimer: I'm not a Pyramid Main (but am a PH enjoyer).

You ask how to play PH. In essence, hold M2 whilst going around loops when you're reasonably close to a survivor. If the survivor drops the pallet and you've got a good reaction time use your special attack when they're locked in the animation. Same thing with windows. If they try to loop the pallet again quickly let go of M2 and either hit them with your basic attack or if you're not close enough, repeat. If they decide to loop the same pallet, they will now be affected by torment trail.

If someone is unhooking in your face hold M2 at the hooked player and if you time it correctly you will make the unhooker and the unhooked player both lose a health state (unless the unhooker has BT).

Also: You can try and get hits through walls via your power but it can waste a lot of time so it's not usually worth it. Good survivors will hold W and waste a lot of your time if you miss.

  • You can report the cheater here:

Submit a request – Dead by Daylight

Choose the "Additional player report information" option. But as a fair warning, I reported two cheaters 10 days ago and I have still got no reply. Support seem to be very busy at the moment.

  • I know you have already been linked to the post you were looking for but regardless if you want to increase your FPS you could reduce the resolution down to 720p. Downsides are that it'll be less sharp, especially on a large monitor. People commenting on that post seem happy with it though:

How to increase frames on ps4 and ps4 pro — Dead By Daylight

  • Trapper. I get extremely anxious about everything I do against a trapper. I'm always second guessing myself. Even if I know a trap was disarmed I'll think about whether he reset it or has the ultra rare add-on so it reset itself, etc.

I play very poorly against Trappers. I often predrop pallets without looping them unless I really have to. Sometimes I'll take an unnecessary hit even though I could've used a window/pallet just to hold w to an area I think he hasn't been to. I'm just so scared of running into a trap. It's really bad.

Also, there's something about Trappers movement animation that makes him seem fast and unstoppable.

  • Same. As survivor, solo queue is horrible, especially at night. Queues are long, meaning teammates are even worse. I really can't stand playing much more solo queue.

At this point I'd rather SBMM even if it meant I had to play against Blight/Nurse/Spirit with meta perks 90% of the time. Having a decent team that doesn't walk everywhere, isn't scared of the TR and has experience makes a huge difference. With that kind of team, playing against skilled killers is fun.

  • I'm debating whether to purchase an outfit for Steve or to go with Jonathan Byers just because he'll probably be the least played character in the game and will no longer be available.

  • A 60MB~ can take me a few seconds, whilst (I believe it is called) the initialization process can take 5 or even 10+ minutes. I have DBD on my SSD. My friends also have this problem, it really needs to be resolved.

  • I don't usually use auric cells for skins but I almost feel obliged to at least get something since I might not get another chance...

  • Same. It's really amazing having competent teammates in solo queue and in general. I'm looking at lobbies in solo queue right now and... it's bad.

  • No, it's my favourite in door map. Plus, this could be the beginning of a bad precedence.

  • Well, this is really, really, really stupid.

  • I found other survivors to be much better on average, although the killers skill were still hit or miss. So all in all, it was a much better experience, at least as a survivor main. Going to be playing some solo queue today... hopefully I'll still get good teammates.

  • 5400hrs, 129 achievements.

I don't actively seek out completing achievements and never even cared about getting adept achievements apart from the original survivor/killer ones. Maybe one day.

  • This is really really sad. But I wish the best for him. Bye McLean.

  • What you describe is hit validation, a feature, not a bug. Basically you are now denied some hits that the server deemed invalid. This is because from the survivors perspective, they stunned you before you got the hit from your perspective.

So on your screen it looks like you hit the survivor but on the survivors screen it doesn't, or is close. If you have a lot of these invalid hits it is probably due to you having poor ping. Before hit validation killers with poor ping had a major advantage at pallets, but now in theory, not so much.

  • I played against a Pyramid Head main that tunneld me and another survivor out the game. He was probably mad that everyone escaped against him last game which is probably unusual since he plays PH very well. Every pallet/window against him was basically a guaranteed hit. When it gets to the last 2 survivors of course he slugs for the 4k with 4 gens left. Now of course he wants the 4k at all costs because a potential 3k is just not good enough.

After almost 4 minutes he picks up the Nea and drops her until she escapes his grasp. Can't just let her bleed out without finding the Meg. Nea is now teaming with the killer. Runs all around the map jumping in and out of lockers, running around the map multiple times with PH nearby to try and find the Meg. After about 15 minutes of searching they both finally find Meg.

PH eventually catches Meg and hooks her. Now the Nea is t-bagging and standing nearby expecting the hatch for her efforts. Guess what? The Pyramid Head that slugged her for almost 4 minutes and HAD to get his 4k by looking for the other survivor for 19+ minutes actually wanted his 4k and promptly downed and sacrificed the Nea. *facepalm*

    The end.

  • Might be slightly biased here but, loss of progress. It took way too long to resolve the bug(s?) or whatever was causing it and although it is more rare it can still happen today. They lied about refunding legacy to those that lost it after dedicated servers were set up. That gave a false sense of security. You are still simply dumped with a ton of BP based off of your hours. I am almost certain they do not counter in double BP offerings, events, bbqac/wglf, rift BP, whether you went for expensive nodes etc. The player lost their progress and should be rewarded handsomely.

There's no consideration to what players bought with shards from the shrine of secrets, you can never retrieve event stuff back like third year anniversary cake or... legacy. There's probably more issues but fortunately I have not lost my progress in a few years and so am not aware of all the issues.

  • Played against a Trickster with those addons a few days ago and was thinking I was going down way too fast...

  • @Breadn said:

I don't see this ever working because it requires every map to have breakable walls, which doesn't work on maps without a main building such as Rotten Fields or Shelter Woods. Forcing breakable walls into maps like this would be annoying and wouldn't work from a gameplay perspective.

Assuming only, say, 3/4 of all maps have breakable walls, then 1/4 of matches this perk would be completely useless. That cannot be said about literally any other perk.

If you're talking about the proposed new perk being useless on some maps, I agree it would be. It should probably have another addition to it so it is not entirely useless... whatever that may be.

  • I personally wouldn't mind Saboteur or a toolbox being able to sabo a breakable wall but I'd love a perk where you can just charge at it and instantly break the wall.

  • Only drastic changes to the core gameplay would stop me playing for good. For example I wouldn't play the game if pallets, windows etc didn't exist or nerfed to the point where you should stealth 99% of the game.

I wouldn't even stop playing if I lost my progress (again), presuming I am refunded BP. (Although I think I heard somewhere if you lose your progress more than once you don't get refunded? Unsure if true...).

It'd have to be very very drastic to stop me playing altogether.

  • There have been a lot of good changes but I did hope some thing would remain the same. I was disappointed that the original maps were changed as well as the HUD, movement etc. Even more disappointed when I heard the original survivors (and more) were getting a graphical update.

But I'm actually alright with the changes now but it took some time. But it is nice to look back on how the game used to be. I have to leave some screenshots here now btw...
