This seems a bit to far of a nerf for noed imo.
Although I'm in favour of a nerf somewhat, I'd much rather it would reward good play, like a token for each hook and at a certain amount of tokens you get the exposed status effect.
But Devour hope already does that, so how would you make it unique?
-
Kimchi drama trend? What's all that about?
-
My list for what killers are worthy of my (and therefore, any) respect:
•Killers who don't chase me when they see me get unhooked, you shouldn't even look at me
•Killers who don't leave me on the ground for more than 3 seconds (if you lose sight if me or chase someone else when you just downed me, you're a trash killer and you suck)
•Killers who play fun killers in a fun way, like a legion who keeps using his power to hit me (hecka scary, but you have to let me mend, don't be cheap)
•Killers who don't pick OP killers, like Hillbilly or Ghost face
•Killers who don't use OP perks, like coup de grace or insidious
•Killers who leave the hook immediately if they hook me, even if they see others around (don't even look at me, dork)
•Killers who are friendly and wear silly clothing 😜 you're amazing.
•Killers who go AFK and let me and the homies farm (you go, girl)
•Killers who let me loop them the right way then let me hit them with a pallet.
•Killers who learn there lesson when I hit them with DS (Back up, bro. Yeah, that's right...)
•Killers who don't get sweaty and aren't so worried about the kills, they just want to hang out and have fun, maybe get a couple hooks of the moods right. Consensual, of course.
•Killers who know when to back away from the gen were working hard on!
•Killers who come to the opened exit gate and take their teabags and flashlight clicks like a man (you lost, own up to it, loser)
•Killers who open the gates for me and my homies (you go, girl)
-
I'm fine, I'm just not a fan

KPOP is extremely popular on Twitter, I see it trending almost daily, so it’s not surprising that Trickster, who’s a KPOP artist is getting a lot of fan art.
He's not even a real kpop artist tho, I truly don't get this fascination with Kpop, it's a bad immitation of american pop ideas from the 2000's, the lyrics often sound like they were written for some generic anime (which is also culturally oversaturated at this point, imo) and many of those groups are basically indentured servants.
Supportingthat infrastructure is like Disney filming in China while Weger muslims are being forced into labor camps and having their wives sterilized the next town over from production.

He just did.
Putting a aside the fact that 65-70% means bouncing between a 2k and 3k, (as 3 would be 75%) meaning the stats y'all like to use to claim killers are OP pretty much shows the opposite. Putting aside the fact that those statistics exist outside of any skill ranking, so the couple of drunk fratboys who spend a weekend getting jumpscared and meming are ranked equally with a group of survivor mains trying their best.
As pointed out, the pick rate (which is as easy to find as these other stats) belies the data. Hell, go watch the tournament dbd uploaded to their YouTube channel for proof of that. According to the stats Nurse gets the least amount of kills, yet she's the most popular pick for high level play, especially tournament level. But hey, if you don't want to accept that proof I will agree with you that Nurse needs a buff, since according to your statistics, she has the worst kill rate of any killer in dbd.
Yea, pretty much been saying a variation of this since 2018 when those dumbass stats came out. Thanks for putting it in clear terms in regards to the %

People really need to play the Twins more. There's so much more to their power than people realize.
No other killer in the game can chase survivors with 150% movement speed. That alone makes the Twins unique and fun to play.
QOL updates would fix the Twins.
I love the twins, when I do take the time to play, it's one of the weird killers like twins that brings me back.. and it's still fun as hell to yeet a baby at survivors lol

At that point you better hope you are down to your final gen or that match is most likely already over lol.
At that point, the match WILL most likely be over. That sounds like a perfect way to counter a 3 gen if you're SWF.. This definitely has potential to be annoying with coordination.

Trickster vs Deathslinger is basically a machine gun vs a bolt action rifle. Each one will have its advantage and disadvantages in a given scenario. Also Tricker can down survivors at loops that deathslinger and even Huntress can only ever dream of.
A machine gun wound that heals itself over time and doesn't apply deep wound. Or ANY debuffs.

Why do people play legion o er blight? Some people just enjoy one over the other
That is not a good comparison... Like at all...
It's way easier to just 4K with Legion than Blight (especially on console), and on too of that legion came out before blight. They also don't play nearly the same.
This killer plays like a worse version of 3 killers we already have. He's a worse DS, Huntress, and plague.

Some of these perks on both sides sound amazing... This character is a sell just for that alone tbh, I can't wait for the window block one, that is almost to Jank

Ummh, I do both? I don't want them to get an easy pip because they are using a system that the game hasn't been balanced for.
Sorry if that offends you. And I don't know why it would.
I only do it to swf, not just bad games. I try in 99% of my games. I've only every done it once.
So you do this because you faced an SWF? The game has long been saddled with that. Yea, we as killers don't love it, but it's a fact of the game and perks and balance changes have come since their introduction to smooth the balance... It'll never be 100% fair, but I have a tip... If you know it's SWF, just camp a couple of their friends... The pressure on friends to save each other is always much higher than saving a random, and if they are being toxic this will typically counter it. Just don't let them pull a big rescue play and you will turn those cool cucumber survivors into sour pickles real quick.
Also if your online don't look at end game chat.... Or do, if you have fun with that type of engagement.
Trust me, it's more satisfying than AFKing

Even if a killer is weak good killer fundamentals will carry you against even good solos
That completely ignores the unique elements of certain killers.. for the vast majority of maps and killers, they need to be able to deal with some inherent disadvantage they have, such as Plague being super tall and therefore easy to see coming from a mile away.
Killers don't have to be OP, they need to justify their existence. We can't have a killer weaker than trapper, for instance, just because he has a novel concept (not saying that's the case for the new killer, I won't know that till release... But O find it hard to believe there is a worse killer than Trapper).

THIS. Why is no one addressing the real problem here? If a killer doesn't load properly into the game and we just end up with an AFK killer, now we just depip so we might as well DC..
I don't even play survivor like that and the problem is just obvious

The issues is, if a swf or just a good group of survivors want to bully me when I'm playing a niche killer to try them out, and so I afk or just go round avoiding them, then they shouldn't get chase points.
Sometimes afk offsets the rage some killers feel when put in a hopeless match, and that's some sort of win for that killer knowing the survivors depip because they were being bitches .
Don't do this, some more killers will leave and that's the last thing you guys want.
Just look at the wall of you really want to be a poor sport....

i understand this. Have been playing killer since ps4 release and don’t have too much issue because I play with 100% sensitivity and am use to the movements so it’s easy to make educated “guesses” as to where survivors are moving to without seeing them. The point was answering OP question. A lot of console killers I see clearly don’t play with 100%.
Oh no I agree with you, I've been playing since it's release as well. I was just adding my two cents for emphasis that console killers who are used to it can somewhat manage. I still think it's Jank as far as our situation is concerned, and probably shouldn't be relied upon in the first place, but survivor only players love it, so..
-
@OBX said:
On PS4 original the frames and turn rate simply can’t keep up with a survivor that is on the killer turning quickly.
it’s not a case of killer “falling” for anything, but a total lack of a target to visually track.
That said, as a console killer you can still deal with it.... It's just about as much an educated guess as figuring out which end of the pallet spirit will end up on

I would love to eventually see a cool cityscape sort of map. It might be a little difficult to design in a way that wasn't really annoying for survivors and killers, but maybe it could feel like an indoor/outdoor hybrid. Something with alleyways and TALLLL buildings, lots of lights and little building entrances to duck into. I think that would be an incredibly cool map to see, especially if they drew a lot of inspiration from New York City and Tokyo for a design
That is funny you should say that because as I was writing my last post, I was just imagining the same thing, maybe like the old iconic dark alleyways you'd see in 90's movies covered in mist and fog, long and corridor like leading between several buildings, One with a dulled neon sign ominously inviting survivor guests to enter, leading to a dark club with a hallway entrance.. I see flashing lights being used (though this is optimistic because, let's be honest, BHVR ain't opening themselves up to criticism for not thinking of "epilepsy survivors").
Maybe there's even a roof section on this map, where you can take one of those... Side stairs they have on buildings in new york... Do they still have those?
Anyway, you get to the roof and there's a plank part that lets you cross from one building to the building with the club, or something like that. That would be a pretty fun idea.
I also think a Hotel level missing from this game is a HUGE oversight... It probably be a pain in the but to make work, but we need that trope

Queu times are bad because people have friends and want to play with their friends. And yes, killer is easy as hell against solos
Against solos, but see you have to qualify that statement before you can make it. SWF ain't typically as easy to deal with.
Also... The play with your friends line, as if to imply folks that play killer don't have any.. Suppose they don't. Suppose they're adults who don't concern themselves with schoolyard buddies and have very limited time to coordinate a full scale SWF. How does that change the fact that killer is harder than survivor because you can never count on a friend or teammate?
Hell, I don't even agree with you that solo survivor is inherently harder, because the thing that makes it harder is random que teammates not the difficulty of play. If that were the case, there would be no discernable difference between SWF and solo because SWF would be just as bad.
I've had some awesome rando squads, but the matchmaking doesn't select for the better player traits, so there's no way to know if someone was carried by SWF or if they got promoted by really good match ups and contributed little. All I can say is for someone to say they can pick whatever perks they want and still be able to win? That doesn't sound like someone who's much concerned with relying on their teammates in the first place.

I know people loved the game but you’d be lying if you said there wasn’t a chunk of people who hated it solely for the representation
No I wouldn't, because those people who hate it based on LGBTQ only hate it because of how it was presented. We'd already obviously come to terms with the fact Ellie was gay, that scene with the bigoted old man was hella pander.
That sex scene with Abby was also awkward, and that was a straight sex scene.
The only people who say they hate it because of representation - surprise surprise - were trolls, who didn't even aknowledge the first game. I don't remember a single review saying they hated the gay scenes... Not to mention if we're being honest, lesbian relationships are, like, the easiest pass for gay representation in the first place. Most straight homophobes aren't even that pressed about lesbian women. They usually hate trans or gay men if anything.

Very true but a lot of tlou2 hate came down to Ellie being gay or Abby being too muscular( That doesn’t even make sense they clearly show why)
That's bullshit, how could anyone be mad that Ellie was gay when that was already made clear in the first game (which the vast majority loved)
They hate muscly armed Abby because she KILLED JOEL, the fact that she was so muscular was just something to be mocked in the light of letting some unknown character kill off their games ICON. Now I didn't had, I didn't even like the first one that much, there was too much TND ######### going on in all media for me to care. But I enjoyed TLOU 2 more than most games I played that year.

Chill out, plenty of people loved that game, including me (and I wasn't much a fan of Tlou1) and I'm not a lesbian white girl or a humong transgender child. Cut it out, most people were mad about Abby killing Joel, don't bastardize that and make it about identity politics exclusively

It will bring tangible representation to a certain demographic. Ppl gravitate to spaces where they feel INCLUDED, and they'll naturally want to join in. So yes, I think this will change the current gameplay, because YES, more players mean a stronger community and hopefully faster queue times.
That's bullshit, we don't need to be represented by our demographic to connect with a character or the material. That's like saying black people couldn't understand or identify with superheroes because most of the justice league is white.
Whatever happened to seeing a character that was nothing like us, discovering their motivations and fears, and connecting with them on that level....
It's fine for their to be a trans character, but please stop being dramatic.

New players for survivor would increase the survivor q that players already complain takes to long. They should make the killer LGBT so new players go for that role instead. 😂
I'm sorry, because this shouldn't be funny at all... But it's pretty ######### funny lmao
I guess if we wanted we could say Legion is the most Trans-friendly and completely ignore he's supposed to be other people... That would have been a bold representation of a trans character as killer.. Why do Trans and LGBTQ characters always have to be displayed as good or honest or even on the right side? I'd much prefer a nuanced villain for a trans character
-
You know what I love about these threads? Someone will always say playing the game is easy, then immediately contradict themselves by complaining that something not being in their favor will instantly make it not so.
Like if you're a good survivor, you aren't going to get tunneled out in 30 seconds (at least not nearly enough for it to be something to complain about.)
After all, if survivor is so easy you don't need a handicap of a perk, why are you upset about DS?
And if killer is so easy, why are the que times horrible for survivors at a specific time? Is it because all the good killers go to bed at 6:00? How are so many people even aware that this is a thing if they are playing killer at those times? I mean, it's not like THEY also want to play the less stressful role at night, before they go to bed....?
It can't be that.... Survivor is an inherently more casual, passive role in the game overall, right?

he is a human pinball machine indeed. but that's like saying saying trapper and deathslinger are similar, because one traps on the ground and the other essencially shoots a trap at people.
slingshot doesn't sound good. is the killer a child? the pool thing might be an angle to look at. but it did give me this idea
maybe a baseball bat? he uses a ball that bounces on walls that damages survivors as a projectile.
That actually would be cool, but how would that work as far as mechanics? Is it a self pitch - hit at the right time- style of power?
Like maybe he tosses a baseball upwards in place, and if he hits it like a skill check, to gets max velocity? Maybe even an iridescent add on where if you hit someone with a "great skill check" baseball hot, it's an insta down? That would be a unique mechanic

Yes. I do get 360d sometimes. But I have adapted, by 360ing as killer to hit them. But it took months to get the muscle memory down. 360ing is unacceptable if you ask me. It's like if you could avoid all the shots in an fps by jumping up and down like crazy. Except in DBD it's an easy fix but the devs don't want to expand the killer fov, which would solve so many problems including 360s.
Oh I agree with you, it's complete Jank and I and many killers have been saying this since before this thread even existed and we were still using the Steam forum's. Of course things have gotten better overall since then, but I still think the 360 is overall BS because it's not fair to newer killers and even for older killers, it just robs them of momentum when literally everything from the FOV (I still remember when they had the nerve to nerf that thing) to debris and level design, works against the killer.
But whatever, longer que times it is

I don't think it's too hard to counter them, even for a game like DBD. I learned how to avoid them a long, long time ago when I was bad at the game still.
Yes, good survivors don't need 360ing but so what if they have the chance to do them still? There's no need to cater to new players constantly, which they've been doing for a while. The turning animations affect way more things than just spinning, the movement can't be the same when they're there.
So it's only ok when they cater to survivor players? Because they definitely made killers like Billy and Nurse less beginner friendly over time.
This is the Freddy nerf all over again.

It's been an issue for years, but people dismiss it because apparently "GoOd killers NeVeR get 360'd".
I remember this, too. The thing is, the killers that bothered to stay playing through all the BS in this game, of course they can deal with it now, it's all muscle memory and the game isn't that deep overall. Doesn't mean it's not a bit unfair and shouldn't have been something to contend with in the first place. It absolutely harms last gen console players and switch users.
-
Tbh, Blight is already kind of that bouncing projectile in killer form.
But if we're talking something like a rubber ball shooting killer, maybe you give it like a slingshot or pool type shooting mechanic, maybe he has an add on where he can see the trajectory of his power... I don't know if that would be to strong tho, I mean he could be getting free hits at gens pretty easy.. I kind of love the idea tho

And you are missing my point.
It is a terrible financial decision for them to ignore this aspect of the game. Competitive play is what keeps games alive for a long time. If they don't do it, a competitor will. And games are already trying to do the asymmetrical thing again. It is only a matter of time until one succeeds and this game dies.
Dude, I never missed your point. I said the financial incentive isn't there for BHVR, I never said an assymetrical game can't be competitive or even make money.
And it's not like they haven't already tried to make competitive assymetrical before. Hell, the first ever true Assym-game, Evolve, was extremely focused on becoming an E-sports, it was born with that as part of the intent. It didn't work then, but I still loved the game for what it was.
Also, BHVR tried to make another Assym-game, one they were gearing towards strictly the competitive scene... It flopped within months.
This is why BHVR specifically is reluctant to go into that position again. Also the fact that they attempted tournaments in the past with this game, and for the most part they were embarrassing.
I do hope another game dies pull of ayssm in a more competitive style of game, I absolutely do. But it's likely just not going to happen with this game

Few things:
If a killer is good enough to at least 2k/2e against the highest team when played at an equal level, that same killer will destroy a lower level team, leading that team and others like it to see killer as OP. Now if the best of the best are in the top, let's say, 15%, and you're about even with them, that means anyone in the 85% will feel like the killer role is OP.
It's almost like... It's almost like, that's the point.
If i am playing chess as a 1500 against a 1500, i should win 50% of the time and lose 50% of the time. If me as a 1500 plays against someone rated 2500, i should lose 99.99% of the time. That doesn't mean the game is unbalanced, it means that the person is way better than me. To bring it back to DbD. If a rank 20 killer plays against rank 20 survivors, they should on average kill 200 survivors during the course of 100 games. Same goes for the rank 1 killer against rank 1 survivors. Some games end in a 4k, some end in a 0k, some end in a draw. But on average it should even out to that 2k/2e.
The other side of that coin is unfortunately for a tourney viable setting (if that's what we want to achieve) is it would kind of necessitate balancing in that way - after all, if you put in the work to get good, shouldn't you be wrecking the vast majority of players? And it isn't your fault they refuse to get better...
This is untrue, there are ways you can balance a game around high level players while keeping lower skilled players in mind:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1p42KtZOCw
One example of something that is holding back lower skilled players but has 0 impact on high skilled players is skill checks. There are also things that high level players do, like loop around great loops like jungle gyms and killer shacks with perfect efficiency, that low skill survivors aren't doing.
Something that could help this is to make all of the loops mindgameable (AKA no god loops) but put more of them in a map. This would mean higher skilled survivors are going to have more opportunities to showcase that skill by winning chases through mindgames rather than through brute forcing god pallets, and lower skilled survivors are going to have more pallets to work with. The more pallets won't effect low skilled killers too negatively because those survivors aren't playing very efficiently, and it won't hurt high level players because now mindgames are more effective and able to be dealt with.
Or totems: Like high skill survivors memorizing totem placements, so Hexes aren't as good against them, but low skill survivors don't know the spawns so they can't cleanse them as fast, making hex perks much stronger against them. You can do things that make it so hexes aren't as powerful against low skilled players, but better against higher skilled players (one idea i have is that all hexs should work like thrill of the hunt and decrease in power as totems are cleansed rather than being one and done, and when a hex is in the game all totems become lit, this would mean that the perks are more effective against higher skilled players who now have to cleanse more totems, but if a low skilled survivor stumbles across a totem they can slightly weaken the perk rather than just being unlucky and finding a dull totem.)
These are just a few examples.
Most fighting games, for instance, do not enjoy the long lifespan that say, a LoL enjoys. That's why you see expansions as quickly as you do for games that add maybe a character or two and ask you to pay at least half the admission price again (although fighters today benefit way more from the fact most gamers are always online and they can endlessly expand the roster like Tekken 7, Street fighter 5, and even Mortal Kombat 11)
How is this any different then what DbD does? All of these games (even LoL) constantly add new characters to the game that spice things up or shift the balance. That's how a game works in general, if you don't add new content eventually people leave regardless. But not having a competitive scene, not having something to strive toward isn't going to help either. 2 things can be true at the same time.
Also, SF5 is going on into year 5, so is DbD. Again, i don't understand the argument here about longevity.
Dude, I don't know if you missed the point of what I was saying, but I meant that BHVR does not WANT to take the game in a strictly competitive direction. It has NOTHING to do with whether I think it should be able to or not, I'm for competitive balance.
Like I said, it's a problem because competitive games tend not to have a mass appeal.. most people don't want to get really good at games. SF 5 was pretty much in a loss for years, and yea that had somewhat to do with mechanical changes people didn't like, but remember, this was a game that even had a period of commercials between fights in order to sure up profits, and SF is a big dog in the fighting game community, so imagine all the other hyper competitive fighters that don't have nearly the profile of and SF. I defy you to go find a fighting game that isn't SF, Tekken , or MK and find an active lobby with any consistency.
TLDR; BHVR does not have a great financial incentive to make the game a competitive first game. Therefore they will likely never go in that direction over balancing for the middle.

Not really?
Just because i say "Killer is easy" doesn't mean I think survivor is harder or vice versa. This game is incredibly easy to understand, and both sides are very easy to play, do I come across survivors that are better than me? Yes, does that mean the game is hard? No.
If that is to say the game is not mechanically demanding, the in theory I agree. But that isn't what you said.
It's like being Diamond in Overwatch and claiming the game is easy because you win more often than you lose. Mechanically aiming and shooting at someone isn't that difficult, but that has almost nothing to do with what would make the game difficult in the first place.

Any console players deal with game freezes (as a killer) during hooking, vaulting, dead hards, and basically any action? Just a slight momentary freeze, enough to completely be facing the wrong direction? Specifically those console players on last Gen consoles. Xbox One, & PS4. If so, have you since upgraded to the new Xbox or PS5? Did that go away?
I've had that happen to me playing before.. My ps4 used to get so hot playing this game, I literally had to open it up and replace the thermal paste in a few places (even in some places where theoretically it shouldn't have gone, like as a replacement for the thermal padding around the inner case, but the thermal paste I used was a metallic-thick blend, so it wouldn't become runny) but afterword my performance was slightly improved...
This game just wasn't optimized for the (now) last gen console. But hey, I've been able to play for close to 4 years now on the same system, so there's that.

Every killer should be able get a 2k/2e which should be considered a draw when two groups of equally skilled players are playing. This should be true at the lowest levels of play and the absolute highest level of play where the top .1% play each other.
I also I think an entire match should be taken into account. If those 2 kills happen during EGC while the survivors slam 5 gens. That isn't much fun. It should be a steadily paced game.
Unfortunately what you just said only magnifies the issue.
The other side of that coin is unfortunately for a tourney viable setting (if that's what we want to achieve) is it would kind of necessitate balancing in that way - after all, if you put in the work to get good, shouldn't you be wrecking the vast majority of players? And it isn't your fault they refuse to get better...
But the thing is,ost competitive games kill off a huge amount of their player base going competitive. There isn't a great financial incentive to make the game competitive leaning, even IF they knew by what criteria they would need to modify the game in order to achieve this goal.
Dbd COULD probably go that way if it wanted to, but as the one exclusive successful game of BHVR, I understand their reluctance to gamble. I just take the game for what it is, I've been playing.so long I win or break even on the vast majority of games and that's just fine.

No, mostly Killers cry for easy games. And most people know that.
Not according to the ratio, it doesn't seem.

I'm well aware my own form of humour is very subjective but please keep the snide remarks to yourself.
Have it your way, king. I'm not pressed.

Your sarcasm is honestly lost on me, I know you're trying to be sarcastic but I've clearly stated I find both sides easy, can you point to where I said I struggle at 5500 hours? Your attempts to belittle me only make sense if I actually said survivor is hard and killer is easy, where as I find both sides easy.
Maybe try again in another thread as you've clearly not understood passive aggressive sarcasm as much as you think you have.
How can you grade the difficulty on both sides as if this is a single player game? Both sides are easy? When the unaccountable diversity of player skill is involved?
Nah, ain't buying what you're selling, cheif. One side has to be more difficult overall. The way your saying it suggests you survive and 4k every game you play. You're just justifying your own egotism at this point.

From what I heard Asia plays this game differently from the West. Well they play most games differently. It's not really representative of anybody's experience in the West.
? Differently? Dbd is not a mechanically rich game, there's pretty much an optimal way to play on both sides.

So me and @Antonia went around the game in our own custom lobby, and we went to go and count the amount of pallets/windows we encountered and how many of them were considered safe/god/normal. In our findings:
There were 24 pallets on the map overall
12 of those pallets were god/safe (unmindgameable) and had to be broken.
There were 3 god windows
2 Infinites were potentially created based on setups
How on earth have they made the game a mess...
Do you have a way to capture this through video or screenshot?
