Killer says get good, meanwhile plays one of most easiest killers in the game with a braindead perk to go with it.
I find it ironic a clown main is calling Spirit easy to play. Not trying to start anything, but if we're talking simplicity of mechanics, Spirit is in another tier at least from Clown. In fact, she's probably the second HARDEST to learning the beginning, it's just east to use her once you know how. It's like reading a book for the first time, once you understand the language, then of course it's much easier, but you still have to learn the language first.

We have no context besides what you provided to highlight how hypocritical the player supposedly was. Some screenshots of the 5 players builds and the post-game chat (with the names blurred, of course) would go a long way to confirming your claims.
And we have to ask ourselves, does this conversation even warrant all that?
I mean, this is day one DBD stuff. Someone tells you to get gud? We've all heard that 1000 times. We don't need proof or to play judge and jury to that, do we?

She won’t be saying “get good” when she runs into a coordinated and optimal 4 man SWF. Like does she honestly think she’s good beating 4 solo que players in what I would assume be mixed ranks with the 2nd easiest killer in the game? People always assume survivor mains are the toxic ones in this game but it can go both ways. Don’t listen to people like that.
I have proof that that is the case. Dollars to donuts this guy messaged that killer first before he told him to get good. Killer almost never goes out of the way to say that unless they were previously messaged.

The new animations have literally broken movement and hitboxes for survivors. Just look at the recent surges in threads of people complaining of getting hit from literal meters away. I've had killers hit me through walls/pallets/debris etc since the launch of the new update.
I'd be glad to see them revert the changes.
That is all just poor visual feedback do to v-sync error. From the killer perspective, I've been having to get CLOSER to survivors currently to get the hit I should have, I was ending up a meter or so short in the last few games, and have to hug survivor butt to get the smack.
Is there any video evidence showing contrary to what I said? If so I stand to be corrected.

Guess that's one for the killers - and disabling the maps was the right thing.
When survivors were getting stuck in droves on maps with the hill ramp they left that in for weeks.
Don't even go there, nurse is still bugged to this day. it's pointlessbto bring up

Thank you. This delusion is nuts, there are SEVERAL bee fatshames in the game right now, but I guess killer is easy mode now that Survivors can 360 like they used too.

Hi there
I'm actually a bit nervous to post this, but I'll try anyways.
I just bought this game for PS4. A friend showed it to me and it seemed like something I'd really like so I thought I'd give it a go. I'm trying to play Spirit, but of course I'm not that good at it yet. Some maps are easier for me than others. Sometimes I struggle a bit with the first person view, but I was having fun trying.
I find the matchmaking system very confusing. When I'm matched with people at my low rank, I fare ok because we're all new and figuring things out. But for some reason, every second game when I look at the post-match ranks, I've been playing with people in green or purple ranks which are far above me (lvl 19). Thing is, I don't really care if I don't get kills at this point b/c I'm just derping around trying to learn.
But whenever I face these higher ranks, I've started getting really unpleasant messages afterwards. Basically making fun of how bad I am at the game. It's shocking to me, because you'd think they could see from my rank that I'm new. As well, it's a pain in the ass to type out messages on the PS4. Why would anyone even go to such trouble to do this? The first message or two I just blocked them. A third one I actually asked this person what possesses them to send nasty messages to new players, and he replied; "lmao I only send them to people on PS4" (what? Why? Am I missing something?).
I've had a difficult year, and I just wanted a game I could immerse myself in to distract me from real life crap. The messages are starting to turn me off the game entirely and I've only tried playing this Killer for 2 days. I find I'm hesitating even trying today because I don't want to deal it.
I guess I wanted some advice from DBD veterans. Is it the culture of this game to bully new players or something? Or else, is there a reason I'm being matched with people in much higher ranks? Maybe most importantly, is there anyway I can learn faster, maybe watching streams or something? I don't have enough friends playing the game to practice in a chill environment either.
I think I just want to decide whether it's worth it to continue or if it's just going to cause me a headache or put me in a bad mood lol.
Thanks for any help in advance. I'm halfway wondering if I'll get toxic messages here too though lol.Guess I'll find out :D
Screw what everyone else is saying (didn't read the whole thread) this is something that will truly help you if you want to learn how to deal with toxic people who send hateful messages.
A little background information to show my experience from over the last 4 years of playing this game:
When I first purchased this game, I was going through a very tumultuous period in my life. I had just moved to a new state with my then pregnant girlfriend (now ex-wife) when my little brother succumbed to his disease. I was on my way to a job interview when I got the news. As you can imagine, I was in a very overwhelmed state.
A few months pass and I'm working two jobs to make ends meet. We're a bit more comfortable and I feel like playing games again (me and my brother have always been big gamers). I tried the game out on a free weekend, and instantly fell in love with it. I bought it as soon as the trial ended.
I was playing the game whatever free time I had when I wasn't handling other responsibilities, which frankly was very often, as my ex also loved watching the game. There were even times I barely wanted to play and she would make me because it helped her fall asleep.
I started out playing killer. I tried survivor first, and at first that was the selling point of the game for me, but then when I discovered how killers played, and how many add ons and perks and different ways you could play, I was instantly hooked and started playing survivor less for a bit actually. But playing as much as I did, it didn't take long before I started getting sent messages after each game once I passed the very early ranks...
So now, I've played slot of games where trash talk is common. Yes, I was there in the old MWF2 lobbies lol, but very many games in that era, especially on console, were toxic. Ask someone about old Injustice lobbies, or playing MVC 3, or pretty much any fighting game. Hell, even played my way through overwatch for some time.
But man, I never got soooo many toxic comments in such quick succession. I was actually shocked, and given my temperament, pretty angry, especially when it was accompanied by a loss. I legitimately felt rage like never before... At first. But over time of course I got better, which helped a lot in overall when I was able to overcome the loss factor. Still, even then I was getting very mad at the times I lost and got messaged or taunted in game...
So now we're past that lengthy prologue, I'll tell you what REALLY worked for me in the end.. You must embrace the toxicity.
Here me out, I don't mean.you have to be cruel, or go overboard. What I mean by this is you need to be able take what they give you, and dish it back in a way that makes them feel silly for being so concentrated on being cruel themselves.
Say something stupid back. Make a bad yo mama joke, tell them your dad works for Sony and you'll have their account banned for sexual harassment, say you were busy eating their wife's wig, anything. It will probably piss them off and give you something to laugh at instead of feeling aggravated.
Believe when I say this, you can be made a very angry person if you play this game and take it to heart..I have made many friend in this game who I've seen act irrationally angry and become an overall angrier person from playing. Don't let yourself fall victim to it, it feeds a rage addiction cycle and will be a.toxic load on your life, and I am not the only players to observe this.
Hopefully you can continue to enjoy this game, and if not, it's ok to put down. That wouldn't be a bad choice before reaching critical mass. But just remember, you don't have to meet rage with more rage.
Coming from someone whose had more messages of hate from this single game than any game I've played for the last 8 years of owning a playstation

25 pallets and, what, 6-7 vaults total on the map? The Game will always be a boring "break safe pallet" map because that's how it was designed. It's not the most invigorating game play, but it's also one of the only maps in the game that is designed that way, off the top of my head.
This map was always killer sided and devs obviously saw a reason to make it a little more survivor sided, after changing a lot of other maps to be more balanced from being more survivor sided. I'm not saying they didn't possibly go overboard but like... how many matches have even been played on the new version of the map since the update?
I think people should give it more time before they immediately start calling it out as the new most survivor sided map (you didn't call it that, but other people have). I'm sure it will eventually get tweaked slightly but I myself haven't even played on it more than once since the update LOL
I actually completely agree with the thread creator, but you may we'll be onto something.
I'd say at this point, a good amount of maps are fairly killer sided or were balanced to be less of a pain in general for killer. Ormoumd is great for killer now. I think it's fair to have a level design that gives Survivors a small advantage....
But they also do need to fix those fatshamming spots they made on other maps ASAP

Yea, that is a crap part of the game for sure. For me, I just focus on gens until a rescue is necessary, then go for bold plays with BT and snatching protection hits. At least if I don't get amazing scorecard, I get a decent amount of bp

Nah, blink cancelation (bug) never works for you. If you're doing the first blink and you get canceled, survs will get a lot of distance, and if you're going for a chain blink and the game cancels it for you, you won't even make a "fake blink into fatigue" and again, the survivor will gain distance...
You can "fake" the first blink with nurse by looking down so it'll cover less distance even when full charged, and the second blink you can always fully charge and if the survivor starts doubling back you just enter fatigue.
Oh, that's not satisfying.
And yea, I know she could shorten first blink (even though I seem to always find the basement when doing that, It's really obnoxious how little control you have on multi-tiered levels).
But Yea, I've been on a real DMC Kick lately since taking my annual long break from DBD. Now I want all games to have fun cancels and adrenaline pumping pace..
Btw, is it crazy that I want an alpha counter perk for survivors? I think that could be really fun if implemented in a way that doesn't make it feel cheap
-
@VSchmitt said:
It happens to killers too, and Nurse is way worse, believe me I'm playing her all day long since I'm learning. Her blinks are - more - inconsistent than before. Blink cancelation and swing cancelation bugs are now occurring in every match and with and astonishing frequence. The "phantom blade" (the blade connects or even pass through the surv body but the game don't register the hit) bug too, but if you play a lot of nurse you'll get used to it.
Unfortunately this game is what it is and with its spaghetti coding we can always assume that with every tweak in the game the devs will brake something else seemengly unrelated.
Phantom hits are occurring 'cause of Desync but is for both sides.
Is it possible to use blink cancelling to your advantage if you know what to expect tho?? Because if that is the case, maybe this could be one of those dev mistakes that turns into a feature. I think it would be cool to have a hyper speed killer with false moves and maybe even chain canceling, like a feigned swing cancel into a TP.. for dead hard users who love to abuse nurse, for instance..
Idk, it sounds cooler in my head than the reality I'm sure, but I think that would give her some more unique, fun points that may drive her to be played more often again.... And just me personally, for something in concept like that I wouldn't be averse to a nerf or two if it came at the expense of her having a more exciting gameplay mechanic

Everyone can agree about Tattoo's Middle Finger being pointless, but why did Redhead's Pinky Finger never get changed!?
I really appreciate the name, people crapping on clown is like when people used to crap on Hag (who was also actually very strong before her buffs, but since then only ever gets complained about)

Yes because targeting a player and ruining their fun on a game with a ######### load of waiting times isn’t a bad thing...
Yes, because your job as killer is to make the game long as possible and fun for the survivor at all costs.
-
Dead hard barely works, even though you can kind if know when it will work if you've got enough time using it. Buuuut...
Now that you mention it, I would like a perk that lets a survivor Alpha Counter a killers strike, leading to a 5 sec stun when used with perfect timing.
But it only works when stationary, and you have to earn it like a token for being in the killer radius for some time or for taking protection hits, etc.

I can't believe anyone who says clown is the worst killer when Trapper exists.
-
Definitely Trapper. Not only does he have to spend pretty much half the game wasting time chasing his power all over the map, he has to think of good uses for them on the fly, if he doesn't have a bag add on this is even worse, his add ons no longer make traps hard to see because of the map changes, and they made it so you are basically garunteed to get out of his trap in 4-6 attempts, which sure is at least a good 10-12 seconds, but that's about as useful as victor trapping a survivor in a closet from across the map, and if survivors know you're trapper, good ones will just keep together to rush gens while you're setting up to bust out gens, then if one gets caught in a trap the other survivor is close by to help.
Just way to many way to neutralize him. At least Pig can ######### with folks heads slot more with her power, and it is a semi effective time slow on top. Trapper just kinda sucks.
Also Plague is kinda bad, but at least with add ons she can typically be a monster. Trappers best add ons just make him a little less inconvenient to play.

The Hillbilly changes were absolutely necessary. Unlimited freedom of use of his chainsaw over and over and over again was just unbearable to deal with.
It wouldn’t matter if he missed. He could just keep coming and coming. It wasn’t balanced in the slightest.
Imagine if Spirit, Blight, Oni, Nurse just freely kept immediately using their power after just coming out it?
Nah man, that is absolutely incorrect. I played billy almost exclusively for the first year I played this game back in 07-08, and you absolutely could not win that way. Trying to spam saw, especially without the fast saw add on combo, was basically like giving a survivor a mini DS everytime you missed.
All he "needed" was the quick saw combo removed, nothing more. Especially not that dumbass roar that makes it so his "new, fine" stealth build is pointless. I mean tbf, it was a stupid concept to try and give a one shot killer stealth because of course you would have to compromise it somehow.

@M1MASTER said:
Easily the most unneccesary change ever done to a killer, or should i say necessary to make sure people stop playing him and go buy some DLCs.
All they had to do was nerf Carburettor Tuning Guide and change the charge time add-ons so that they do not stack; that was all.
Now all you have is a hard to play killers that's a jack of all trades master of none with a boring ass cooldown mechanic and the worst add-ons in the entire roster.
NOBODY plays Billy anymore expect people who just picked up the game and 5k hour players who occasionally play him.
Devs, i guess he will never get changed again since the overheat mechanic, the stupid roar and his trash new add-ons surely took months of hard work to make, right?
Oh, well you know, that didn't have any effect on survivor players, so it wasn't a big enough issue and was ignored.
But now that Survivors had their animation Jank reduced and most people started bandwagon hating the new UI before it came out, they could easily lobby their complaint with the overall patch and get some traction for reverting THEIR changes.
Pretty convenient. And just wait until DS and OoO are changed (which I'm sure, along with the key changes, are on hold now because we have to address this "awful" UI)

The rest of the opinions; some I agree with, some I think are absolute dog feces. This isn't group think over here. We're not some team of players with fully agreed upon opinions.
My advice to those that are crying about the changes is to go play something else, temporarily or forever. I've been enjoying the patch.
I've been playing the game for almost 4 damn years, on console of all things. It really didn't take that much getting used to for me on either side.
It's like if you make any kind of change, you'll get a bunch of thankless man babies on the forum threatening to pull out, as if their ######### shareholders. But eh, at the end of the day it doesn't really matter that much. If BHVR is going to submit (which it kind of looks like they are now) all that will happen is a few things will change back, as likely most of it can't even be reverted without breaking something else.

If you've read my post, i said i play killer more than survivor, and i wasn't complaining about the "juke" thing because i've never seen it as an "abuse" but a way for a survivor to escape death, and they were pretty smart in doing it, something that i consider a good thing, not a bad thing. I'm not one of those killers who feels frustrated if they lose a game because of one or two good survivors in a game. With Huntress yesterday i was able to catch them in no time, and that wasn't happening before!
Everybody complains about the new locomotion animations, not just me.
Dude, it was animation jank. This just shows the VAST majority of survivors RELIED on animation jank to survive.
Survivors always want more feedback from killers in order to easily predict what they will do next, but killers always had to rely on prediction with the best survivors/mindgames. Well, now, it isn't as simple as seeing the red stain and deciding "oh I'm going this way now" and the killer literally having to read you in the middle of a game to learn what you're likely, but not even garunteed to do.
This didn't take that away, it simply makes it not as simple as having good reaction time. Now you actually have to consider all the turning you're doing and not just rely on trickery that manipulates the autoaim. Sorry I don't feel bad for that crap. Maybe they can actually make some cool Survivor perks without the need to nerf them now.

Hadn't noticed the shame spot there, but funnily enough, the greenhouse (Or whatever it's supposed to be with the pallet in it) is also broken. You can literally walk through the walls into it, and out. There's no collision on it so killers can just avoid the pallet and hit you.
Holy crap, I've never seen a killer sided map glitch. There's always something new to find in this world BHVR has made.

Clown has gotten a massive buff. First of all, he reloads faster. The new bottle is actually extremely potent, but it has a steep learning curve. In a way, the new Clown is a lot like Nurse; his power is complex and requires pinpoint timing and planning, but once you master it you are going to be an absolute MONSTER. The loss of the Exhaustion Add-On was worth faster reloads alone. If you have any doubts, watch Otz play around with the new Clown. He uploaded a video of it during the playtest to demonstrate how to use it. I tried it too, and it works.
Tbh, for some reason I can believe this. I rarely didn't 3-4k without this buff in clown, there's no way he isn't much stronger now...
I'm finding the clown and wraith buffs to be super effective and fun. It's almost unfair that clown basically has wallhacks now, and Wraith is actually great at sneaking up on people with cover now. This isn't the best update with all the new random fat shame spots, but it's definitely been a better experience overall
-

the real problem is that now, with the bad new power, they are not going to rework him anymore, and proper buffs are almost impossible now.

Every killer gets stuck on it and it's a god spot for survivors unless you're playing Huntress or Slinger (Its sloped so I don't think PH can hit survivors in it).
The literal G-spot... My god, I thought I'd never find it..
I've also noticed it isn't the only map with a new fat shame.....All the crying about the new UI, but honestly there are much bigger issues, I mean even crotus pren now has a basic loop that's a fat shamble. There's always something new!
I'm actually 💕 ng the survivor animations at least. No more jumping squats from a downed survivor going into hatch, it was nice to see them actually crawl in like they should.

Yeah it really doesn't. I can show you a game that has a UI that takes up more than 50% of the screen if you like. People seriously need to stop being so dramatic. Yes, it's not a favoured update, but it's not as bad as people keep making it out to be.
Hate to say it, but yes, the reaction is WAY overboard.. I'm really having trouble understanding all the issues being had, especially in regards to the UI. It just doesn't feel that impactful. I tried survivor, and didn't really have any unique problem. I was able to juke a huntress just fine, nothing except not being able to 360 in place felt vastly different. (Which was kind of a jank mechanic anyway)
Killer was fine, I 4k maroon 4'd, didn't have any issue playing new clown with the UI, and actually got use out of the hook tracker, even if it isn't all that sophisticated, it really does seem to give better info for newer players on how well they are doing hook wise, which isn't something that existed previously.
-
This update is completely fine tbh, I don't know what people are complaining about the ui on killer for. But Yea, the antidote bottles really don't change much. The best part was the reduction for bottle recharge base.

Top levels of play pretty much revolves around extremely coordinated swfs and pretty much only very good nurse and spirit players.
The way those games are played are completely different from a normal game.It means solely focusing on gens, running META perks all the time, leaving teammates behind,camping/slugging/tunneling etc. is MUCH more prevalent, which is simply not enjoyable for the majority of the community.
Other problems:
-We would need a good MMR system (I'm gonna be very surprised if the one we'll get at SOME point will work properly)
-Voice communication would have to be forced
-Map reworks need to be finished
-Power gap between killers is just way too big.How would you ever close it between killers like Nurse and Trapper?
-Map RNG needs to be toned down (sometimes you get maps with a lot of pallets and good setups and sometimes it's just deadzone after deadzone)
I'm sure there are some other problems that i forgot but that's about it i think
I see, and I agree these are very good points.
That is a great list of reasons the game can't function under it's current form of balance, imo.
Yes there is a massive gap between the likes of Trapper and Nurse.... But that design logic was intentional on the part of the devs. They've even gone as far as saying some killers aren't intended to be "high tier" but balanced around fun... Which in itself doesn't seem to have been a very consistent design philosophy, since we'd later se balance changes that stood in the face of that.
I the game changing publishers, and not keeping the focus are literally the only things preventing this game going one way or another. After all, look at nurse now compared to release nurse. Do those balances seem to come from the same mind? I don't imagine so.
This game COULD be balanced for top players. There are plenty of assymetrical games that are balanced, with branching metas much greater than DBD. The only thing I believe holds it back is the fact it would take a dramatic shift in focus from what the devs are actually and already doing to achieve. For one thing, killer releases would have to slow down dramatically, and we'd need to see overall more game health/balance related patches. Another is their would need to be a focus on reducing things that make the gameplay too dynamic aka getting rid of many of the ring components.
The irony seems to be this is kind of already some steps they have started taking. They obviously at some point, had hoped to make this game more competitive, even attempted to turn it E-sports. All they would need to do is maintain that focus on a much sharper scale and slow down with the elements that, sure, bring more flair and fun to the game, such as cosmetics and characters, but would free them to focus on solutions to the band aids and how to build more symmetrical design so both sides don't feel like they have as many hopeless spots.
But that may not even be their focus at this point, and money-wise, well E-sports aren't all the moneymakers LoL and overwatch are/were. Most competitive games live and die by the community that supports them, and the issue with DBD is it has a revolving door of players right now because it gets to frustrating at the higher levels of play. Shifting to a hyper competitive focus definitely doesn't carry with it the monetary incentive that DLC's do, so I don't expect this game to suddenly shift gears like that.
But would it be possible? I think so.

https://youtu.be/WjWl4UM0Hrs agree or not he makes a valid point.
Why? So no one has any meta perks left? It's not a very valid argument to say because x, so to y and z. y and z are independent variables.
What, should we just keep justifying nerfs on the basis of "They took one of ours, and one of there's is gonna answer for it"? That's a totally different game and we're here to play DBD

Yep,DbD isn't the right game for balancing towards high level players.Balancing around the more casual playerbase is the only option honestly.
Just to play devil's advocate, for what reason in your opinion would it be a mistake to balance around the too players in this game? I have an idea myself (but also a soft work around) but maybe your idea is different?

This.
Tired of the "Scott said this so come looook"
So?
Exactly what I've been saying for months
Like, what does his girl look like? Is she even bad? Does he even have a girl?
How much money he got? Is he broke? Where his family from? Where does he buy his jeans, off the clearance rack at Sears? Does Sears even exist anymore?
If he can't even answer all that, then I can't be bothered to care about his "little" youtube channel 🙄....

You got anything actually substantial to say? I love how you bring up Pig's nerf as if that is the only example we have of killers that needed adjustments.
I am pretty sure this conversation is about survivors adapting not dissecting that was nerfed.
Seriously if you don't have anything actually worth reading, go bother someone else.
Take it easy.

I dont use DS and if I did after this change I would stop using it and go for something else.
So basically you're complaining about something you don't even use? Thanks for providing evidence.

Honestly don't even try.
I am actually starting to think these forums are swarming with Killer mains who don't really care to listen to anyone else but themselves.
Instead they would rather make a meme or a joke about their opposite stance. Just watch how they treat a new forum member who might not be up to date on everything, claiming something is OP. None of them share the same respect, they show each other when talking about balance inequities.
Like, just think back when Ruin got nerfed, pages upon pages of complaints.... and regardless of how you feel about that specific nerf, there is a big segment of this community that will act like it's only survivors doing the complaining.
Survivors got Pallets nerfed, Structurally maps were nerfed by adding annoying dead ends.... core survivor mechanics. Meanwhile, Camping, Tunneling, and Slugging remain the exact same. So we ALL know survivors have been hit the nerf bat, and they have adapted.... but you are better off talking to a wall at this point.
My man, you're delusional. The reason survivors got most of their nerfs were due to actual balance issues. There was no reason to nerf pig, but they nerfed her. They didn't have to nerf Trappers bear traps to the point you can walk past them in a narrow corridor, but that's what happened.
You keep talking like survivors have it the worst because they received nerfs as well. And what are you survivor only players doing right now? Forum post after forum posts crying about DS nerf. The only difference between now and the Ruin nerf, is that killers who didn't use the dn perk didn't cry about it because it didn't effect them. Meanwhile, every survivor jumping out the woodwork complaining they can no longer forward their progress at the expense of the killer (because that's literally all the proposed nerf changes do) complaining about a change to a perk I'm sure they hate to admit they need every game.
All this talk about killer sided this and that.. lmao you must not have been here when survivors were planning to boycott the game because if Freddy didn't get nerfed (which ended up happening because survivors actually did it..)

Because less people will equip DS and there will be more trials with no Obssession, when there is an Obssession tunneling is rather minor and usually not much of a concern, but when you get in a trial and nobody has those claws around his portrait... God help you.
I come across tunneling in 20-30% of my games (from minor to major) but when there is no Obssession is always heavy tunneling and happens in 70-80% of my games.
Hell I dont use DS and Im tempted of running a Obssession perk so the Killer sees there is one and does not go bonkers...
This doesn't make sense tho, since DS is still the ONLY perk that deals with tunneling. If you aren't using DS as an anti-tunnel perk, what are you replacing it with. This is exactly like killers saying they would never use Ruin again when it got it's massive change, except most killers stopped relying on a perk to solve their problems way before Ruin, so the complaining was somewhat less

You're absolutely right and the only way to stop this game from dying is pig nerf.
But in a serious note.. Literally anytime a survivor complains even once about a bad nerf/change, you only have to bring up the pig
Almost every single survivor nerf had a reason behind it that made sense, even if misguided.. then there were the pig nerfs.

Survivors can adapt, and have adapted more than killer mains have, so no.

I'm trying not to actually gloat at the changes but some of you make it hard. You've said on here before you've played since launch and DS in its current form didn't exist til years after that so you clearly managed somehow. This level of drama is excessive.
Well, you see, thing is, when this game came out, Survivors were broken overpowered... So every step away from his golden era feels like a betrayal to the country he once knew.
