hey mods this thread is pretty much "spreading negativity", it is an ideal candidate to be closed so why keeping it alive?
the point is "changing my view (CMV)" of an individual that will not change his+her view or what? please close
Someone already did change my view, it was several pages ago.
Don't assume.

I already addressed this, so go back and read, because I explicitly state it's not justified. Your making assumptions.
I didn't make assumptions, that's why I asked.
If we agree it's not justified, then the matter of what OP "really" did is irrelevant. Putting aside the fact that there's no way someone can have a conversation with you if your starting point is "this person is lying to me", it's like defending a mass shooting that was prompted by someone accidentally bumping into someone else. It's not justified, so what prompted it is irrelevant.

The vast majority of individuals with differing opinions did not downright say there shouldn't be such characters. They merely expressed doubts in how well it'd fit in the game and if DBD would make actual character and not some trope.
The counterpoints were mostly along the lines of many companies failing to deliver properly made characters that ended up being the 'gay' character or 'trans' character, and some simply don't have much faith in this one's ability to do so. I do not see anyone downright raging at the idea of diverse characters being present. Some people just don't want to have diversity politics in their games, especially when DBD is a form of escapism. All reasonable counterpoints that don't necessarily invalidate the potential existence of these sort of characters, but I think people have a right to have these and these positions don't make them bigots.
I personally believe any sort of representation in this game isn't necessary, but it is absolutely fine if it exists.

As someone else said (if not in this thread then in another one), no matter what other characteristics the characters have, some people will only focus on the LGBT part and ignore everything else. They will pretend that the character is a trope because they're not acting in good faith.
Every character can be improperly made, but only LGBT characters get such scrutiny. I wonder why that is.
I do not see anyone downright raging at the idea of diverse characters being present.
Because some comments have been deleted. Believe me, they were here and in other threads.
Some people just don't want to have diversity politics in their games, especially when DBD is a form of escapism.
I'm very sorry some people see my existence as political.
That's a lie, I'm not sorry. The existence of LGBT people is not political, no matter how many bad faith actors like to claim it is.
All reasonable counterpoints that don't necessarily invalidate the potential existence of these sort of characters, but I think people have a right to have these and these positions don't make them bigots.
Not reasonable, no. There is no counterpoint against the devs adding LGBT characters that doesn't also apply to non-LGBT characters. That's unreasonable, to demand that LGBT characters conform to a higher standard than every other character, as if they were any different.

You just assume the OP was being truthful? You know there's a world for of scam artists right?
Explain what someone can do in a video game that justifies wishing death upon them. Then we can address the idea of whether or not OP is lying.

Hatch spawns when either:
- The number of repaired generators is greater than the number of remaining survivors.
- Only one survivor remains in the trial.
The hatch will also open under the second condition.

I haven’t read the lore but aren’t they described as conjoined and couldn’t separate in the real world?
i thought the Entity granted this ability and gave Victor for this form the missing organs/limbs he needed..
I'm not sure. I haven't fully read their lore myself, haven't found the time to do so. I'll check the wiki.
EDIT: They are indeed described as conjoined twins. I've no idea what the devs were thinking, then, but I'll go with my other option: they simply didn't look into the biological implications.
-
Restart Steam. The update shouldn't be anywhere near that size.

but that is conjoined. it's the Entity that separated them.
Conjoined means one body. It might have multiple limbs or internal organs, but it is a singular body. Victor can literally detach from Charlotte because he "resides" in her chest cavity. Look up what conjoined twins look like and see if you notice the difference.
-
@Falkner09 said:
It occurs to me that Victor must be the first trans character.
Think about it: he's male, yet a conjoined twin with a female. not possible, unless one of them is trans. and since Charlotte seems to have breasts in a time when she certainly couldn't get implants, it must be Victor.
Also makes sense since his lower half was stuck inside Charlotte, so the ignorant peasants wouldn't have realized anything was off if he called himself male.
Interesting statement, but I doubt the devs really gave the science and implications any thought. Also, despite us calling them conjoined twins, they're not really conjoined. They are, in fact, two bodies, one wrapped around the other's insides.

Which characters have sexual representation at all in any fashion today?
At the moment you have a game where any character could be anything, but for some reason it's important to identify it from a back story perspective?
What value does that add?
Which characters have sexual representation at all in any fashion today?
Off the top of my head? Nurse, David, Felix, Frank, Julie, Ace.
At the moment you have a game where any character could be anything
Patently untrue.

Dwelfs are off my kill list this December (if I play killer before December is over, that is). As a survivor, I will do everything in my power to make sure they survive (again, if I play survivor before December is over).

Bruh you need to look up the def of complaining cause like no one here is complaining about LBTQ characters
complaining
/kəmˈpleɪnɪŋ/
noun
noun: complaining
the expression of dissatisfaction or annoyance about something.
"his complaining has been a little bit annoying"
adjective
adjective: complaining
expressing dissatisfaction or annoyance about something.
"she apologized to the complaining crowd"
I've seen a lot of people expressing annoyance in this thread. However, maybe you have a different definition of "complaining", in which case I'd appreciate it if you just said what you meant.

Just for the record, non-Euclidian geometry, in simple terms, just means non-flat space.
DbD was made with Unreal Engine, which definitely allows for what you want (see: basically every "mind bending" game made with Unreal).

I had the same problem with another update from a different game that came out at more or less the same time. It could be a Steam issue.

It's not a choice and you're conflating sexual intercourse with sexual attraction. The latter is what defines your sexual orientation, not the former.

Well obviously we dont have to have a LGBT character to appeal to the LGBT community in DBD because this article exists. Here it is again in case you (or anyone else trying to make this a issue) didn't read it. https://www.wired.com/story/queer-appeal-dead-by-daylight-lgbtq-community/amp
What's your point? Nobody said this was needed, people have been saying this is wanted. The devs recognize this, which is why they chose to do it.

I'm moreso talking about adding brand new LGBTQ+ characters rather than changing the ones we already have. Personally I wouldn't mind changing existing characters but I understand concerns over changing characters that already have an established lore.
Note that most of the current characters do not have an explicit sexual orientation, so nothing would be "changed" about them. Their lore would be expanded, nothing more.
-
However many there are, the fact is that they do exist. Transgenderism is a scientifically proven thing, whether you want to admit it or not.
-
@the_new said:
does it matter what race/gender/sexuality the killer/survivor is? because at the end of the day the game is about a killer killing 4 survivors when they have tasks to do to escape
To people who have rarely (if ever) seen themselves represented in media, it can matter.
-
You're thinking of intersex conditions, which I didn't mention and are not relevant. I'm talking about actual, measurable differences between XX and XY brains and how XX trans individuals have XY brains (again, to some degree) and vice-versa.
There's been a lot of research into the subject, more than any of us were taught in high school biology.
-
This isn't hate speech or me being rude, this is basic biology.
Too basic, in fact. "New" research has shown structural and chemical differences between male and female brains. In trans individuals, someone chromosomically XX has an "XY brain" (to some degree) and vice-versa.
-
Agreed. I think this should take top priority since it can be harmful for people with epilepsy.
-
Why not use your imagination and pretend they're non-LGBT?

So you want a LGBT Killer????? The only thing they mentioned is that she was hetero before she went crazy and turned into a killer. I feel like after she went crazy she doesnt even care about any kind of sexuality anymore. So as I said. Everyone has theire own imagination about chars ingame. There is so much room for interpretation. A specific LGBT char will hurt this game :)
I'm not asking for an LGBT character, that's already a given. A "specific" LGBT character will have the same effect as all the "specific" heterosexual characters because there's no difference.

My bad, I forgot about Felix.

@stvnhthr said:
Do we have a married survivor? There are so many demographics which could be "represented" which are left up to the players. You have to remember some folks don't understand that unless sex is part of the game it is not important to give sexual preference, it just becomes about trying to push a political/social agenda.
Do we have a married survivor?
Yes, Felix was married before he was taken. We also have survivors and killers who used to have opposite-sex partners. The Nurse was the first one, she had a husband who died.

Both you and Mooks are cut from the same cloth. You both think that if gay people aren't seen everywhere, despite being a significantly small % of the population, that everyone is homophobic.
No, that's something you imagined we think, with no basis in reality.
If you want to go by percentages, then white people - and Americans in particular - are over represented in DbD.

I remember seeing something like this for the game Warframe on its forums years ago. I'm not sure if DE added any LGBT characters but I do remember people asking for plus sized and handicapped frames. DE ended up giving those people two plus sized frames but I dont think we will ever see a frame in a wheelchair. Which is the right thing to do because is doesn't really make any sense for the game and its lore. Hell I felt that way about the plus sized frames too but whatever. Now a survivor in a wheelchair for DBD makes more sense then a frame in a wheelchair in Warframe but I dont think it fits or is necessary for either game. If the call to add LGBT characters to DBD is really about equal representation then these same people should also be concerned about equal representation for the handicap.

The "ridiculous agenda" of not treating LGBT people differently?
What causes the "bitterness" is bad faith actors and outspoken homophobes. Wanting equal treatment isn't a good reason for this.

This is not what I'm hearing from friends who play the Twins. They tell me they can switch back and forth in a second - and I had someone tell me they were watching a DBD streamer who was somehow controlling BOTH twins at the same time. Right now, everything I'm seeing as a survivor, and everything folks who play the Twins are telling me are indicating the Twins are overpowered.
DBD streamer who was somehow controlling BOTH twins at the same time
Not possible unless they were cheating or exploiting.
-
This isn't bias, it's a matter of the things working differently. Key nerfs will likely require implementing a new mechanic. The mori nerf just required changing one variable.
If you want a good example of bias, you already have it with DS and Enduring.

That means inside the terror radius, that's kinda eh tbh
what's the point of being able to be in two places at once if you have to be close or your power becomes very easilly stopped
not to mention that if they have head on they are bassicly immune to you if they are near a locker
Keep in mind survivors don't teleport out of lockers and into a random corner of the map. They have to leave the locker and either hide nearby and hope you can't find them, or leave in such a way that you won't see them.
-
@Mandy said:

Keys account for approximately 2% of escapes only and have a lot of conditions met before more than one survivor can escape with a key due to the hatch conditions - a good portion of the game has to be completed before the hatch even spawns. That was completely different to mori's which were one hook and then mori'd.
If you don't mind and have access to the data, how many kills did Moris account for (in percentage, naturally)?
-
@Crypticghoul said:

You're not accounting for the time it takes to switch to Charlotte, which assuming it's the regular switch time when you find somebody in a locker, is 3 seconds. And even then you have to factor in any obstacles you have to go around and the second it will probably take many to re-orient themselves after switching.
I assumed it was automatic and essentially instantaneous, but even if it's 3 seconds, that's still around 32 meters.

I'm not saying gay people should be excluded from all things, just not the opposite either. This push by the very vocal, woke types to have gay people in everything pulp culture is only going to cause the gay community to become more polarized. Stop.
These same arguments were (and still are) used against having representation for black people, women, etc.

I say this as a straight dude. Why can't we let LGBTQ+ people have their representation? I can name right now if you asked me the characters in this game that reflect one or more things about me. A lot of LGBT people don't have that, at least not to the degree they would like.
What's the problem with being more inclusive? If the character is well written, adda something to the lore and just happens to also be LGBT, that's a good thing. It means more people are happy, and isn't that a good thing?
It doesn't affect me in the slightest, and if it makes people happy, I see no harm in it. I personally couldn't care about representation, but it is very important to some people.
On the note of pandering - this entire game is pandering. It panders to classic horror fans, it panders Silent Hill fans, it panders to Halloween fans, and so on. Most media is pandering in some way. Hell, considering the Entity is an eldritch, inter-dimensional monster with no form and a buncha tentacles, you could say it's pandering to Lovecraftian, cosmic horror.
"It would be pandering" is not a valid excuse when the game is built on the back of pandering.
"It would be pandering" is not a valid excuse when the game is built on the back of pandering.
I'd go one step further and say that every product ever made is built on the back of pandering. That's literally why things are made, because people want to buy them. It's the basis of capitalism - you pander to a specific group of people with your product.
