Why do you need a fat survivor in game? Why? Whats the point? ######### does it matter?
If it doesn't matter one way or another, then there's no reason not to do it.

The "weird political message" of not being constrained when writing lore?

Personally, I don't care what a in game character is or identifies as, it doesn't effect the game play, so to me it's irreverent.
If you want a trans survivors or whatever.......fine. I just get tired of seeing it repeated so often
(repetition of the same thing drives me nuts (The same advert 100 times a day!!!!!) , so this isn't just reserved for this topic. DS! Springtrap! Gen Rush! .... on and on it goes, cant keep it to one thread!). Yes, I can see the irony that DBD...kill survivor or fix gen...unhook ... is rather repetitive to....but I think having the control in game stops it from bugging me.
It's normal for things to repeat in a forum. If that bothers you, I don't know how you can even stand being on the forum to begin with. It's also quite disingenuous to equate LGBT discussions with those, since LGBT discussions only really started this year (about 6 months ago, I think), whereas those have been brought up a lot more often over the years.

This here is the exact reason that adding an LGBT character to the game is so risky.
They literally just said they may do it and we've already got not only dose someone want a gay character but they feel like they should be bi and trans too?
This is why people are warry about doing it.
No it's not a bad thing to be inclusive but It will never be good enough. ever!
They literally just said they may do it and we've already got not only dose someone want a gay character but they feel like they should be bi and trans too?
Uh... no? They said they will do it and I think the character should be either bi or trans based on the things I said in the OP.
No it's not a bad thing to be inclusive but It will never be good enough. ever!
The only times I've seen someone actually claim that is when they're acting in bad faith, like that one person who asked why there were no characters in wheelchairs and said the devs were being "ableist" for not including someone in a wheelchair. So no, that's not a thing.

I've seen people who text roleplay Dead by Daylight--I've seen ACTUAL forum roleplay communities about it. You vastly underestimate what people will add fanfiction to.
Also, I'm pretty sure none of the character sexualities are addressed in this game. It's non-relevant information. They could add a throwaway line to a survivor in their backstory mentioning their partner or spouse or something, I guess.
Nobody can add fan fiction to DbD. They can write fan fiction about DbD, but nobody can add it to the game itself.

People just want the freedom of choice to choose what sexuality a character is instead of being forced to see a character as one sexuality
No, they don't. If they did, they would've complained when the Nurse was released, or when the Legion's tome was released, or when David's tome was released, or when Felix was released, but they didn't. They only complain when it's about LGBT.

Yeah I seen someone change your mind. But you still made a suggestion. For example bisexual erasure was one reason you wanted bisexuals to be represented first. The discussion was whether trans or bisexuals be represented first.
It isn't a suggestion, it's to give some background on my view so that people could attempt to change it. If I just gave the opinion and asked others to change my view without anything for people to grab on to, how could they even begin to address it?
-
As killer, 3-4 kills are a win, 2 are a tie, 0-1 are a loss.
As survivor, surviving is a win.

AFAIK Felix is literally the only one who is mentioned to be in a relationship (but I'd also assume David because I've met his type IRL in the UK and they aren't particularly welcoming of LGBT people, assuming they went all in on the violent lager lout hooligan sterotype).
You're wrong. The first character to have a relationship mentioned was the Nurse, who used to be married. Frank and Julie had a relationship as well, which was the main focus of the Legion's Tome (funny how nobody complained about this).

- BHVR made 100 million dollars last year. I don't think shaving off a few survivors released here and there is going to cost the firing of some people.
- It's only achievable if you don't play killer much and you have a very low limit of what you want.
- All this talk about inclusion, every single type of person needs to be represented otherwise the game isn't progressive enough for some people to feel like 'they finally belong' is within social commentary.
Look, we clearly aren't going to find any common ground, you simply want to argue for arguments sake so best of luck to you.
- Clearly, I'm not as privy to their internal finances as you seem to be.
- I want perks that actually fit my playstyle. I wouldn't, for example, give a rat's ass if Felix had Babysitter or not because I would never use that perk to begin with.
- I still don't see the social commentary, just people who want the same privilege we as white males already have of seeing people like us represented in basically every medium in existence.

It doesn't matter which one they add first if eventually both are represented. Also this is more of a suggestion even if you want it to "cyv".
It's not a suggestion, it's a discussion with the community (or at least with those who actually stay on topic). If it were a suggestion, it would be aimed at the developers.

And I said it's of no relevance. More so, you are missing the larger points. 1. Don't make an over abundance of survivors for little reason. 2. Keep the grind to a realistic, achievable pace. 3. Social commentary doesn't belong here(in the game).
- It's not for little reason, it's to justify the pricing of the DLCs. On the other hand, if the DLCs were cheaper, they'd have to fire some people.
- It is achievable. I have all the perks I want on my main survivor. You don't have to go for P3-50 on everyone while also unlocking every single perk. That's your choice.
- There is no social commentary in this game, you must be thinking of something else.

Keys should have a not-insignificant progress meter (that uses key charge and resets if you abort) while unlocking the hatch, and it should show the killer your aura while you are doing this, to add an element of risk and careful planning.
Just for the record, you can open the hatch even if the key is fully depleted.

No, "whatever" because the particular laws aren't relevant when there's a bigger point: we don't want DbD getting political. And no, I don't think it's OK to put politics in DbD because political affiliation is the result of a person's personality, not something that influences it.

'Representation' is not important. Acting like sexuality is something that should be embraced and celebrated is a delusion. Just because people have the same life choice, doesn't make it special. Being Black, White, Asian, Latin, Gay, Straight, Religious etc does not require any form of celebration or representation anywhere. Therefore, DBD does not need to endulge this agenda. It is attention seeking, largely, plain and simple.
I'm sorry you feel that way.

DBD already has several black characters. I think this whole concept of adding (insert minority here) just to have diversity that the vast majority of the community could care less about is insidious in nature. Race shouldn't be a big deal. Do you think all us white people care that the majority of the roster on EA sports games is minorities? No, we could care less. Leads in Tell tales walking dead are black? Nope, not one bit. The bigger a deal you make about race and this forced inclusiveness the more people recoil to the notion.
I miss when games were about having fun and not about having some form of social commentary.
You're right, race shouldn't be a big deal. That's why the devs have been adding characters as they pleased, without concern for quotas. You think one black woman was enough because that's your quota. The devs don't have a quota, so they added more.
Games are still about fun. You're the one choosing to pay attention to the characters' skin tone instead of the gameplay.
PS: White people are the minority, when taking global statistics into account. Signed, a white person.

Please spare me your righteous indignations about characters in video games. I shouldn't have to grind 500 more hours just to complete a character for the simple fact that their skin tone is a shade different in order to have everything unlocked. You want to have 5000 survivors? fine, make the grind actually reasonable.
You don't have to do that if you don't want to. You are literally complaining about the consequences of actions that you took with full knowledge of said consequences.

There has been plenty of black characters in a large amount of video games now adays, including this one. And you are forcing me to if I want to complete everything. Do you have any idea on how long it takes to p3 with all perks? Even a modicum of knowledge on the subject? We are talking thousands upon thousands of hours of grinding billions of blood points.
There's been plenty of white characters too, but I only see you complaining about the black ones. Curious.
Yes, you are forced to complete everything if you want to complete everything. Isn't that part of the enjoyment for a completionist? I do have an idea of how long it takes to P3 with all perks. That's why I chose not to do it, even when Legacy was on the table. Ain't nobody got time for that.

So much I disagree with here. I don't know who Friskk is, I'm assuming a black woman. I guess the question is, with the grind being so outrageous, is diversity really the most important thing? Was one black woman not enough? What is the acceptable number of each and every mix of people? Isn't it a little shallow and strange to have so much of an emotional reaction to playing as someone who 'looks' like you in a videogame?
There are way too many survivors in the game. The grind to P3 and get all the perks for each and every character is beyond the scope of any normal person. At the very least, can BHVR ease off on the survivors until the number reaches up to killers please? I guarantee there are at least 100 completionists for every black woman playing this game. So for the love of god, let's pull the brakes on the woke train.... just for a little bit eh?
Isn't it a little shallow and strange to have so much of an emotional reaction to playing as someone who 'looks' like you in a videogame?
Not if you've never had that, no.

Nobody's forcing you to P3 all characters and unlock every perk on everyone.

Disregarding the insignificance of the matter itself, the point of representation is to actually, well, represent. The quantity of Ts is increadibly small even in comparison to LG (let alone bi's), so choosing a T character would be statistically unfair.
B would be the safest choice from the point of view of public reaction in communities from different countries.
0% of people are kidnapped by an evil extradimensional entity to compete in trials until the end of time, so this is clearly not based in our world. I do on and off but not every single character has lore based on their preferences. It really doesn't matter in the way that this game is played. I don't mind that people want to be represented in the game but in the grand scheme of things it really doesn't matter that much. If someone wants to roleplay DwightxDavid with their friend as I've seen many times, they are free to do so, doesn't matter what is stated in the lore or what is not stated. They can do it if they so please and that's available for everyone to do if they want to which is why generalizing a specific character just for the sake of adding more "representation" in the game is ridiculous to me. Heck, I wouldn't even care if every original character had nothing to do with their sexuality in the lore but that's a topic for a different discussion.
Have you noticed that nobody makes the same arguments regarding heterosexual characters? How come it's only the non-heterosexuals who have to pretend to be represented?

I was in high school in the mid-'90s. Let's just say I was the type of person who was playing Magic: The Gathering, rather than basketball, at lunch.
Pro tip: whatever you think is "just a dumb millennial zoomer thing" most likely isn't.

Sorry but none of the characters in the game are real, they are pretend, do pretend they are the sexuality you want if it makes ya feel better.. just a video game at the end of the day.
They still have characteristics. Harry Potter isn't gay, Doom Slayer isn't a woman, and Tyrion Lannister isn't a giant. We're not writing fan fiction here.
