I was playing Trickster on Dead Dawg Saloon and I found myself in a situation that somehow I had never experienced before in that map (probably because I don't play Trickster and Huntress that frequently, but still, I've played them a lot until I got them to Prestige III)... or at least I don't remember experiencing it.

There is a small house right beside the shack with stairs that lead to a small balcony with a god-window. With 115% killers, a survivor running from you there will get caught eventually. But after a few tries I felt there wasn't anything I could do as Trickster, and I think Huntress would have a similar issue.

An injured survivor was running the building, counter-clockwise, and always going up the stairs and reaching the window. I tried to hit her with some knives at corners, but could barely get chances to do so. As I turned a corner to get her in line of sight, she would already be turning the other and even hitting a single knife was hard and required a very precise timing. I tried to mindgame her by faking to go up the stairs and just walking around it... she was patient, didn't fall for it and didn't drop. Then she waited up there. I tried to hit her with knives, got one or two, but then she crouched in a position I just couldn't hit her and could end up wasting all my knives trying to get her trough the balcony's bars. If I tried to just chase her until M1 range... well, the only possibility would be with bloodlust, but until then it would take a long time and all gens would be done.

So I tried going around the other side to mindgame her. Either way she had enough time to reach the stairs before I could get close.

And even if I somehow managed to get closer at some point, she had the shack window as well, and she would reach it with a fast vault by running counterclockwise. It seemed like an infinite. I just left her and went for someone else.

A skilled Huntress could maybe manage to get a hatchet hit at some opportunity, but the time in line of sight was so short I think it would be hard. Trickster, however, doesn't have even that. Is there a way of countering this that I didn't see?

I don't play Trickster without Bamboozle. He gets shut down way too hard by god windows. His personal perk was totem bamboozle for a reason I think.

Rancor itself is decent information perk because it shows the location of survivors every gens, I don't think it needs anything to kill someone consistently, well at least for securing a kill.

It got the biggest buff ever in the form of No Way Out + Nemesis. The basic strategy is to just be standing over the obsession as the last gen gets done, then NWO holds the doors long enough for you to find the next person to Rancor. The more hooks you got, the more powerful Rancor becomes. It's especially brutal if someone was already dead by the endgame.

  • For every baby Demogorgon that gets bullied, a camper/tunneler is born

  • Honestly, the tutorial bots looped better than a lot of survivors I used to see at rank 1 pre MMR.

It CAN'T secure a kill, because any survivors can run around and cleanse the totem if killer camp one, and there is 120(!) seconds to do so.

And if killer is good, they deserve a kill anyway.

Kinda nuts people are still complaining about NOED when Rancor exists. Rancor might need extra supporting perks to be consistent but it's just straight up deleting people at the endgame instead of hooking them.

I dont really see that, holding w has nothing much to do with perks its just a gameplay strategy just like camping or tunneling.

The problem is that the overwhelming majority of killers are on a character that just hits you through pallets. Anti-loop powers have gotten pretty insane lately, although when the gens can get done in 3 minutes they have to be. So there's really no reason for survivors to even attempt looping once they realize you are a good Nemesis / PHead / Artist / whatever.

Midwich is my favorite map to play but good lord the W is strong sometimes. Someone sees you at the end of a hallway and it's gonna be like 30 seconds to even get to them. That's why I have mostly stopped sending myself there except on high mobility killers.

    For science ofc.

Basement Bubba is overrated, but a classic. The reality is you can facecamp any hook just fine.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTwqFErSJZo

That is a really good facecamp build, but needs to be executed somewhat carefully to work.

Any perk setup that supports you camping people to death on first hook is the most annoying Bubba build.

Legion? Well, you have to kill people to be annoying in this game. He doesn't really do that!

I have 5k hours on this game, maybe double or triple than yours. I've learn some things in 4,5 years playing it.

5k hours and you still play by the rulebook? Big oof.

I play for my own fun, i'm not a youtuber out there looking to make an entertainment video for other people to watch.

The acknowledgement from survivors I get for running suboptimal builds and playing nice is usually some teabags at the exit gate

  • @FrenziedRoach said:

Eh... only thing that bothers me is the free progression they get for taking a shortcut. That just feel's excessive to me.

The wiggle part I can deal with, even if I don't have Iron Grip slotted.

Frankly, if you really want to get back at the Boil Over "abusers", just run counter-builds and have fun with it.

There is no counter build to boil over. There's a few spots where you cannot hook even with Agi Iron Grasp. Telling people to give up half their build to counter 1 perk out of 16 the survivors might have is also dumb.

But the discussion is pointless, it's broken and getting hotfix nerfed so everyone saying it was broken were correct. The people defending it were wrong.

And yes I do hate the free progression they get. It has messed me up quite a few times by now since I have the hook timings almost down to muscle memory and have been getting cucked half a second from a hook.

But, as a Doc main, I laugh in the face of "poof I'm gone" combos. *evil grin*

Lithe + Shadow step is definitely the superior option these days. You get found, vault a window, and speed off into the boon area never to be seen again.

Then you lose your boon, but they lost the chase entirely.

I'm waiting for PGTW on shrine since clown is meh not the most fun killer to play but ruin with undying is viable I thinks so basically I need hag and blight

I think clown is pretty fun. But you need to be good at killer to really use him. Map knowledge is super important for him compared to most other chase killers, since you need to lay down gas pre-emptively and with a fair amount of precision to actually get hits instead of just forcing pallet drops.

Ruin Undying is OK. I run Ruin Pop myself. Totems are a huge target since boons came out, and there are more people running rainbow maps than ever. All it will take is 1 Mikela with a rainbow map and half your build is nullified in like 60 seconds or less.

Hag is misery to play since CoH in my opinion. You can't leave your zone and usually need to rely on survivors staying injured to actually get a down, and with CoH they will never stay injured and can retreat back to the totem endlessly.

Blight is a ton of fun, and honestly pretty easy to use if you know the maps. Someone like Billy / Nurse are way harder so you might be good with him.

Yeah but I want to say DbD is a much more stressful game than most others. I don't think other games have given me quite the same feeling of dread as this one, before I am even into a match.

You won't last long as killer if that bothers you. I would say that is mild for this community.

I keep the chat off but leave my profile comments open so I can bathe in the salt when I feel like it.

  • @BadZilla said:

I'm in a bad spot because I need hex ruin so bad but I don't want to play hag and shrine probably won't have those perks

You don't need it anymore. The meta has shifted and there's a good number of viable alternatives at this point. It's still the biggest and baddest regression perk but you will be disappointed if you are not used to relying on RNG to win.

I would be leveling up clown in your situation. Or maybe Artist. Pop / Bamboozle are just soooo good and you get both with 1 character. Whenever I have made a new account it went Bubba --> Clown ---> Plague. Corrupt is still the best 1 and done stall perk in the game.

  • Blight. Good lord Blight.

Hag is dead since CoH. Survivors can outlast her grinding playstyle pretty easily since they now have access to unlimited fast healing.

Oni suffers a fair amount from it as well. You can still pop off with him but you will not have nearly as many games where there's a bunch of injured survivors leaving orbs for you who are under too much pressure to heal.

I digress on a few points. There are several variables to the outcome of a trial, yes, but the performance across matches remains tied to the player. And no matter the number of games you play, the final trend should be a 50/50 ratio as you reach a stable rating.

I'm saying you literally get tossed into tons of unwinnable games in solo Q. Skill has absolutely nothing to do with it.

The MMR system is not that good. It's not like League where you get into Platinum and it's like "Wow! My teammates are all noticeably really good!" and you get these consistent matches.

Even after winning games all night; you can literally still get people in default outfits who go down if the killer even glances in their direction. You get the AFKers and DCs. You get the memeing idiots who throw the game and get you killed. Of course you also hit the ridiculously OP killer builds every now and then; with a killer with a brain behind them, which demands a level of skill to survive that most solo Q teams will just not have.

  • @FrenziedRoach said:

You don't have to dedicate every minute of your life to this game or any game.

And SWF is a unsolvable problem as the man above me has pointed out. You cannot under any circumstances prevent friends from playing together. All you can do is decide to wait it out while they crawl toward a solution to even up solo players with SWF or just move on to another game.

Those are your choices like it or not.

Myself? I just choose to not play this game more than a handful of hours per month. It's just not worth making your main game anymore.

That's kinda where I am at too. Like SWF has been insane for so long and your only answer was to spam Nurse/Blight which gets boring really quick. But now they got "tHe DaTA" so they can say they will do something about it (probably taking years in the process).

CoH just kinda murdered all my motivation to play seriously. Boil over was salt in the wound since literally everyone said it was broken in the PTB.

I still play a good amount but only the most low effort cheese builds. My days of having to sweat for kills against people who literally just have to hold M1 and hit spacebar/E are over.

  • @lagosta said:

    @solidhex

SQ and SWF are totally different games. The first thing I'd advise you is to change your build. If you're dying after reaching tiles only to find that pallets were used before, equip Windows of Opportunity. If you're dying on your first hook, put on kindred. You need to make up for that level of communication that comes naturally in SFW.

Also, play more SQ instead of SWF. To play SQ well you need to perform the role that your team needs the most, not the one you're more suited for. Learn with your losses, ask yourself where did the match go wrong, what you could've done differently, and be genuine with yourself if that different decision-making would've resulted in a win or a loss. As long as you bettered yourself by the end of a match or at least had fun, that counts as a victory for me.

That's not a really good line of thinking for solo Q imo. At the end of the day, to win the game if you are the best player on the team you need to handle looping the killer. And that usually results in your personal death, which is not a win for solo Q.

Or, alternatively, if the killer realizes you are looping them too hard they can just focus your teammates and leave you to hold M1. That's what I usually found happens. And tons of the time, you cannot hold M1 hard enough to win the games. Especially if you get some spuds on your team and it's a really strong killer.

The only way you are surviving tons of solo Q games is by the hatch/door. So for it to be less miserable I usually have a plan B in place.

  • Could be either. For a while if you were not looking directly at Bubba / Billy as they charged the saw it was totally silent. So more audio bugs would not be surprising in the slightest.

There is also no real reason for a hacker to bring in a wallhacks addon either.

that's right, i'm playing swf sometimes and then i escape more often but our team plays together since a long time (and our escape rate is maybe something like 5 or 6 out of 10 matches, depends on how sweaty we want to play). I was actually playing swf the night before. But whenever i play solo the fun drops significantly.

The only time i remember i escaped today was when a bubba killed 3 survivors in basement (he wasn't facecamping but kinda proxy camping, who wouldn't when survivors play this dumb) and i just camped the exit gates until he found hatch for me. I feel like specific killer strategies just work flawlessly against unexperienced solos and then i feel really helpless because i need my teammates to survive (going for hatch and let them die all the time is boring).

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2795355#Comment_2795355

I play a lot killer lately and had much fun because i was playing mostly killers i rarely play with lower MMR rating. With some exceptions the survivors are pretty chill and i can learn the power and just have a good time. I don't even care if some escape and when i want to win and play very sweaty and "unfun" i mostly 3k-4k.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2795365#Comment_2795365

i was at high mmr after i played exclusively swf for some time (i could see from the hours of the killers and survivors) and games were much better because i had teammates who could loop longer than 10 seconds and actually had some game sense and good decision making. No survivor can win a game alone.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2795373#Comment_2795373

hmm sounds like a plan actually, but i feel like an Exhaustion, BT and maybe even DS is kinda necessary. But i will try out Wake Up for sure.

I have pretty much never played with DS. Especially not since the nerf. Exhaustion perk yeah, that's something I usually always have. Though it's hard to fit sometimes since I have not taken off iron will since I bought the game.

And it's a build for you to escape, not necessarily your team. You can swap back to a regular build once you think your MMR is high enough to get good teammates. I don't usually run BT in solo Q either. With Wake up, if the team dies horribly you still have a very solid plan B.

There are only a few rules in solo Q. Never be the first one chased, and never be the last one chased. If it's a Hag or Bubba literally throw every pallet on the map before going down cause your first hook is death hook against those two usually.

Hey everyone, I am at a complete loss at what to do when one or a group of survivors start to work with the killer. I dont understand it. I have met farming killers before but that's not what I'm referring to. I have matches where one survivor will "team up" with the killer to farm the other survivors in the match. They just start helping the killer and the killer let's them live. Is this not against what the game is supposed to be?

The game turns into a horrible mess of your "teammate" farming you so the killer can just kill you and everyone else. What am I supposed to do? Should I not disconnect in this scenario? Why do people do this? You dont get any points out of it. Only the killer does. Is this something brought on by the new mmr bullshit? They do it just to escape and gain mmr? This is griefing to the max but there's nothing I can do about because reports do not stop griefers.

Not much you can do. Probably the most annoying games I will have in DBD are when I get an absolute doggo tier team, or people who instant DC when they go down. Then while being left in a totally unwinnable situation the killer decides they want to kill me and only me and your teammate tries leading them to you.

I have survived the situation a few times but it's usually after like 10 minutes of hiding in lockers or something. The last time it happened was during the Winter event and I managed to evade the killer and a Nea for like 5-6 minutes by sitting in a snowman until the killer got bored and murdered them. Pretty hilarious; but usually you don't survive.

Reporting it probably won't do anything either. BHVR doesn't even ban hackers lmao

  • @SquidBad said:

Dude its not a "strategy" to tbag at the exit gate or leave people on the ground for 4 minutes because you have already won. I don't understand how brain damaged you have to be to think that being rude after winning is a strategy.

I had a pretty lmao moment earlier as Insidious basement Bubba. I facecamped a first guy to death and then am in the middle of basement camping my second kill when the final gen gets done.

So the two remaining survivors start to spam vaults but I assume would not come close to the basement since I could be hiding anywhere.

So they are doing the BM, I go down and BM the second survivor a bunch until he is dead. Then I insidious camp the chest until they left. Everyone wins!

  • @solidhex said:

I don't know if i'm stuck in ELO hell but the amount of times i escape is something around 2 out of 10 matches.

    • Teammates meme around (failing Boil Over and Sabo attempts) or throw chases because of event envelopes
    • Killers bring best possible add-ons and perks nearly 80% of the time
    • Killers play "optimally" (tunneling and camping) on my current level while survivors don't know basic stuff about killer powers and do stupid mistakes all the time

Thanks to latest new perks and buffs (Scourge Hook Pain Resonance, Deadlock, No Way Out) and survivor perk nerfs (boon totems have become much rarer) i feel like the game has become killer sided again, with the exception of an optimally playing swf of course. I hope the changes for solo queue will come soon enough...

I mean, I would say play a door opening build if you want to escape MMR hell.

I think hatch escapes don't work but door camping with Wake up + Resilience/Spine chill is a borderline optimal strategy for raising MMR in solo Q.

And it just got buffed even further so you should be able to get out through the door almost every single time if you survive to lategame. Vault build is meta but then it only takes wake up added onto it to turn into a door camping machine. It is cheesy af? Sure. But who cares?

Ah... I just wanna have fun. To me, feeling like a threat and getting a decent amount of hooks is a good time. Hooks make you feel strong not someone dying on 1 hook.

For instance, I have fun zooming around the map as Billy and going for those chainsaw hits. But unfortunately doing that throws the game bc it takes time and effort to play that way.

I've noticed the more you try to enjoy yourself and go for meme builds, or stealth plays, or power plays the more you get punished in the game.

Sucks. I'm kinda at a point where I'm tired of trying to win.... I just wanna have fun and get alot of hooks.

I'm at a point where I'm ready to abandon the competitive aspect of this game all together and play for points.

I couldn't care less about kills. I wanna feel like a threat. Those games are so much more fun.

But again, when you do that. Games fly fast, and you don't get to play very long.

Rancor helps a lot. It's quickly becoming one of my favorite perks along with Nemesis / No way out. With an endgame build you can basically muck around for 5 gens and then still have a great shot at a 2k+

I've been using it on some of the weaker killers where I expect to lose before I even Q up.

discordance and tinkerer is also a great combo for information. if two people do a generator then you're gonna now it before they get to that 70% mark, and if a survivor does it alone then you can basically guarantee that you'll get them with tinkerer before they finish the gen unless they have a very good toolbox + resilience + spine chill or something crazy like that

Yeah I use discordance + tinkerer sometimes. It is like having your gen defense decisions on auto-pilot but 2 perks is a hefty price to pay. I only use it on strong killers who can afford to not run chase perks.

Though in these SBMM days I have mostly put information perks to the wayside as a killer in favor of much more aggressive perks that support camping and tunneling.

  • Discordance for killer, spine chill for survivor.

I have used spine skill so long taking it off makes me feel blind.

Discordance usually gives me a great idea how much any given chase is going to cost me. Mid-chase I see the icon go off and can make the decision right then and there if it's worth continuing.

"-Myer's stealth in Tier 1 is literally a detriment because he barely moves faster than the survivors"

Oh no, I have to stay in tier 1 for a few seconds at the beginning of the match and then it never matters again. It takes ~6-10 seconds to tier up on a survivor, not a whole gen. Not really an issue.

"-In tier 2, he has "stealth" in the form of a smaller terror radius but literally no power in chase. He can definitely get free hits, but so can Ghostface who can also expose people."

yeah so can Myers. GF always has no power in chase, not just sometimes.

"-Ghostface can 99 stalk people to get free downs on command. Myers can also do this, but the difference is with Ghostface you can down someone, hook them, wait for your ability to recharge, rinse, repeat, so survivors spreading out won't matter all that much with the right info perks."

Info perks, yeah like infectious on Myers or other info perks on him as well. You also don't have the step of "wait for it to recharge" on Myers.

"But with Myers you need to wait to have to stalk people. In some cases, that can take a while. I'd prefer a guarantee that I'll actually be able to use the strong part of my killer."

Why do you have to wait to stalk people? Wdym it can take a while? If you mean tiering up, again, it takes ~6-10 seconds of looking at someone. How do you have a guarantee on GF when if your on CD you cant hit someone at all whose been stalked without losing it and if they look at you it turns your power off. Myers has none of these drawbacks so he is the closer to a guarantee in the power department.

"-Yes, Ghostface has no chase power. But you have the ability to play around that by using stealth and downing 99'd people before they can react. Doing so can give you immense pressure."

Myers has stealth all the time outside of T3, Myers can 99 people before they react, Myers has no CD on doing this, how is his pressure worse?

"-There are ways to counteract being revealed easily by cheesing the reveal mechanic (which I do not condone) or by finding hidden spots to stalk from. There are many of these on every map."

Sure, but Myers doesn't have to deal with that at all.

    -Spine chill also counters Myers'

Sure, but that was a point on GF not having only one weakness. He a M1 killer with a long cooldown power that gets countered easily and get punished just for hitting people outside his long CD.

His power is pretty much "turn into Myers but with more counters and only single target". They're both bad but Myers is a half filled trashcan and GF is a full trashcan.

What? Beyond instakill addons GF is usually way better than Myers. You can spawn in, go expose someone before anyone knows its ghostface, and have your first hook like 15-20 seconds into the game if it goes correctly. His capability to do that instantly makes him better than Myers since many games of DBD are decided in the first minute or two.

Myers always has to screw around for like 30+ seconds stalking first to do anything. And if there are a few spine chills you can easily get trapped in tier 1 by good survivor players for a long time.

Really depends on the killer player. It becomes less about individual chases and more about game management the higher you go. If a killer is willing to play the overall game well and not just focus on chases, they definitely have a good chance at a 4k.

Replace "play well" with "brought one of the best builds in the game AND played well" and I would agree with that statement. The weaker killers and builds don't have a prayer at high MMR. They never did. You can be the most amazing Demogorgon in the world and still get your ass handed to you on a platter because you didn't pick Nurse instead.

Not to mention it pops on the gen that's closest to complete, so it tells you which one you need to watch. Pop is just whichever gen you choose, you could end up using it on a 35% gen when another is at 80

It's still kinda doggo tier. Gen defense in general is no longer the meta, but pop in particular has fallen to the wayside.

12 seconds off 1 gen is laughable. Especially when you consider at high MMR your gens are getting slammed 3 at a time. And you probably had to blow an extra 5-6 seconds getting to the special hook as opposed to whichever one is closest. There is also the RNG problem of getting useless scourge hooks off in never never land where they cannot be used.

It's only there to buy you time to bring pop to the gen but then you throw the next chase by actually using pop instead of killing the next survivor. And since pop is no longer the meta outside an extremely small subset of killers, it's a worthless supporting perk in my eyes.

Really tight games I find myself getting to use pop like 2-3 times tops. I would 100% rather have a perk like Rancor and just straight up get a free kill at the end instead of attempting the mostly futile strategy of gen defense. It really only works with Ruin.

  • Let go of the gen while the scourge hook is being activated, fool. Or are you too busy holding M1?

    Totally overrated bait.

Too map dependent. He is a 110 killer who still needs to run chase perks because good survivors will obliterate him on a ton of maps. Structures that are already super annoying to deal with as killer are just a nightmare on him and can feel borderline unchaseable. You load into disturbed ward with a bunch of survivors who will hug the main building all game and you might as well just facecamp the first down you get.

The flip side being that a good amount of filler loops are total death traps against him, but that's the case with alot of the other antiloop killers too.

He is also sort of like clown where he has a handful of really, really good add-ons that turn him into a decent killer; and the rest are mostly trash. So putting BP into him is just a waste for the most part.

There is also the upside that playing against him has little interaction for survivors chase-wise so he pisses them off just by existing even if he is pretty weak.

  • How did your team get chain slugged by a pig, again?

Sounds like a you problem. Survivors always act like they spawn on the hook.

Yeah but I mean it's even worse than it was before. Back around 2018-2019, people complained and ######### but it was tolerable. But I would say around when Nemesis came out, the community exploded with toxicity and been getting worse since.

Nah i've played since 2017 and it's always been this bad. If it exists, survivors will complain about it if they lose to it.

Basically it's a permanent mark of shame on your Steam profile. It shows that you were banned, and how long ago - generally for cheating.

Honestly, at this point. If you are not dodging every private profile as the killer you are setting yourself up to be held hostage. It's clear BHVR/EAC cannot get a handle on the situation as of right now. The Q times are fast enough I will spend the extra 20-25 seconds to find a full console lobby or a fully lobby of legit profiles to play with. No reason to waste your time playing with private profiles because I will hit cheaters in this game literally every day when I don't do that.

Sometimes if I am really lazy I will allow 1 private profile, but 2+ is an instant dodge. I just get ready to AFK for when the cheater starts flying around spamming the hook sound.

I appreciate the feedback, but that isn't a solution to me, that's a bandaid for a problem that shouldn't exist. I own all killers, I don't feel like restricting myself to just Nurse or Blight because the meta is broken.

Well that's just the way it is. It's not a good answer, but it is the only answer. BHVR will never solve it, I have offered you the solution that works today. The weaker characters cannot deal with a 4-5 minute game where the survivors are handed a plethora of extra lives to go onto their default 3. It just doesn't work if the players are of somewhat equal skill.

Pyramid Head is probably your best bet if you don't like Nurse or Blight. The things you can do with him are downright filthy once you start to learn cage spawns. You can proxy camp cheese the cages, then relocate the cage to the other side of the map if the survivors congregate to rush it. You can tunnel tormented people straight off the hook and hitting BT is actually an advantage so they cannot locker DS you.

He is one of the few killers who can just roam around murdering people without having to worry about arbitrary perk timers.

  • @Alionis said:

I still don't want to play killer anymore, I've stopped a few months ago, but unfortunately, the tomes rarely have a path that allow you to progress through its levels purely playing survivor, so I played some killer games again, and got a taste of why I stopped in the first place.

I had a Dwight on the hook during endgame collapse. He got unhooked by the survivor I knew had borrowed time, so I countered by waiting 20 seconds to hit Dwight, the gate was far enough away for that. When BT ran out, he used DH in the gate, since I positioned myself ahead of him, he dead-harded away from the entity spikes, allowing me to down him and pick him up before he could reach the escape threshold. He then used DS and escaped.

What should I have done here? They told me afterwards that with the right counters, their perks are perfectly fine. What counters are there? This was the epitome of "#########, I screwed, but let's press this button to reverse my mistake, so the killer can't win".

He was unhooked unsafely --> Borrowed Time fixed that.

I waited out his Borrowed Time --> Dead Hard fixed that.

I screwed up his Dead Hard --> Decisive Strike fixed that.

I got 3 second chance perks shoved in my face back-to-back and some people still defend this bullshit as being fair? I did everything right here and I was still punished for it. This stuff leaves an extremely sour aftertaste. I don't feel outplayed or outmatched in skill when the survivor skill is basically: press a button to fix your mistakes.

Ignore the majority of the killers in here. Anyone who says you cannot counter those perks is a baby killer and has no idea what they are talking about and their opinion is invalid.

Your first step to countering them begins at the killer selection screen. The survivor meta is far beyond the majority of the killer roster at this point, so leave playing the weaker characters to the chumps. SBMM doesn't allow for it anymore unless you like getting dumped on by perks instead of skill.

Second, anyone with a 1 shot can counter all three of those perks. BT/DS are useless if the survivors cannot make the unhook. Dead hard doesn't work on an instadown. Any 1 shot killer is a god tier camper and can easily secure kills without having to deal with the second chance chain so they are instantly at the top of the meta.

Third, there are a handful of characters strong enough to just plow through all the second chance perks. As Nurse and Blight I will eat DS for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and usually don't hesitate for a second to pick up a recently hooked survivor.

Fourth, there is a character called Pyramid Head in the game. He is the ultimate tunneling machine and farming people coming out of the cages brings the salt like no other since you can get multiple hooks in a row with impunity.

Fifth, there are some quite cheesy builds you can run that negate the meta. It's too many to list but they are out there.

  • My one night of PC crossplay off I hit a squad of 3 hackers and a random. I tunnel mori'd the random as spirit and then was held hostage (this was like a year ago).

Crossplay on for me. Q times are bad enough as survivor I would deal with the occasional hacker as opposed to 15-20m Q times I got when I did crossplay off on Xbox.

But I moved to PC because the performance on Xbox is just abysmal. I would never go back to being a console pleb

It's just the same builds over and over with survivors. I bring stuff like Devour Hope instead of Ruin and don't run any gen slowdown perks. They act like this is some dbd tournament.

You are pretty much running a meta build yourself there? Fake pallets are garbage though.

Swap out devour for ruin and put on the snares and you are basically meta freddy.

And honestly, if you wanna negate the survivor meta, learn an instadown killer. That's basically the meta for killers right now unless you wanna learn a specific powerhouse like nurse / blight / PPhead / etc.

BT/DS don't matter if the survivors cant ever unhook.

Any perk that blocks a gen or gens is very useful, you are halting the survivors objective. That's why Deadlock became a staple for a lot of killers after it came out with Pinhead. Old DMS stunk because it only worked hooking the obsession but now you can activate this perk up to 10-11 times lol.

Sure it's not terrible but you only get 4 perk slots. I have no room for a mediocre gen perk, since it's neither a fun perk nor as effective as the existing meta ones.

I really don't think it's that good. I actually don't even consider pain resonance that good. It's passive which is nice, but you are relying on map RNG to even use it and it also means that the basement is actually almost a detriment to use.

Ruin and Pop are the kings of regression, always have been and probably always will be. Toss in tinkerer which is god tier with stacked regression and i'm struggling to find a slot for something like DMS. I would take Corrupt or Deadlock over it in a heartbeat as well.

I said it's kinda like BBQ because it kicks in after a hook and if you see a gen turn white you know at least one survivor is in that area. With pain resonance and dms it's slow down and information.

I haven't messed around with DMS too much but I guess I don't see it being always useful? You are just blocking the gen it's not like it is regressing.

I hook survivor one, go over to BBQ/SH:PR and get into the next chase.

Survivor two's gen is DMS'd and that doesn't matter because they are getting chased. Survivor three gets off the gen and it's DMS's but they are going for the save so that also does not matter.

Compare that to ruin where both those gens would actively be regressing the entire time.

  • RPD is my 2nd favorite map so I actually don't mind getting sent there as killer. But right now I do because of Boil Over making the library so cancer

    Oh boi.

I just had the most lovely of matches with Clown on Pale Rose against one of the top sweaty, toxic SWF group I ever played and just want to rant a bit.

I had more of a meme build with Franklin Bamboozled, Tinkerer and BBQ and used two green add-ons for increased AoE of the bottles and +4% speed reduction. The opposition had combined 15 meta perks 3 Flashlights and a souped up sabo box.

At least Franklin took care of the flashlights, but everything else was pure stress. The game ended with 1k 3E but for that one kill I sweated extraordinarily. They were extremely well coordinated and managed to deny me of most of my hooks. It was unreal, one tike I was standing right on top of the hook and all three bodyblocked the hook, took turns in tanking hits and healing, until the survivor on my shoulder broke free.

I think I managed to get three survivors on death hook, but it was like running through tar. At one point I slugged everyone and had 3 survivors slugged, but then one after another jumped up again, because they were running Exponential. And of course, everyone was running DH. What a cursed game.

The second I finally, against all hope, managed to sacrifice one survivor, the others dispersed, opened their 99% gate and were off with a final fanfare of flashlight clicking and t-bagging. In the chat I wanted to talk to them, but they wouldn't have non of it and left the second after their "gg ez lulz".

Situations like this can really crush your enjoyment of the game in a profound way. Maybe I could have tunneled a survivor out a bit earlier? But the chances would have been slim, they were just too well organized. The thing I despise the most is the darn bodyblocking. I know that it's "a courageous effort that puts the survivor in harms wat to help out their friends in a pinch", but it really disempowers the killer in such a profound way... I dare not say it, but in a way that's utterly unfun! There! I said it! Its a game mechanic that I don't stand behind at all and I hate it so much that you can totally bodyblock the killer by crouching behind them or under the hook. That's not clever tactics, that's just... Sigh. Whatever. Continue this, and bleed your killer population even more. That's what I'm saying...

Not exactly sure what you expect? To go into a game with a meme build on a weaker killer into a meta tryhard SWF and to have a fun relaxing game?

That's how killer is. You win, the survivors are silent or salty.

    You lose, it's gg ez.

Say gg ez as the killer? You are toxic, need help, should see a therapist.

You tunneled someone out who was abusing boil over, spam macro clicking the flashlight, and teabagging at every pallet drop? You are a psychopath, who hurt you, add me as a friend and we can talk about it you angry angry person.

Let it roll off like water from a duck

How do you counterplay getting zoned out on every loop,if you try to loop, you get hit by her crows,if you dont, she just catches up and m1 you.

Flashlights, similar to hag, totally neuter her at loops. And flashlights are probably the second most popular survivor item behind medkits.

Hiding, similar to how you deal with any other really strong killer.

Holding W, predropping, and if you get stuck at a loop trying to run it so that you run into the bird and just get crows instead of it damaging you.

Faking right as you walk into the flight path of a bird, etc etc.

    Hey everyone.

First post on here (i've always looked at the forums but never made an account but i thought given recent times i felt i had to ask this).

I'm not someone who gets easily triggered by losing, if i get outplayed i'll always give props to the other player.

But for some reason one thing that gets under my skin is when certain bugs or lag happens in games i.e

When someone gets unhooked and i get frozen and either get hit or go down when i wouldn't of been had it not froze me.

Pressing dead hard but still going down even though i pressed earlier then the killer pressed their button.

Always fast vaulting windows and running a few steps and still getting hit.

I know these things always happen and it's part of the game but i'm just wondering, how do you guys deal with it? Because for me, if i make the right play or i outplay the killer and i still get hit/downed, it puts me in a terrible mood and i hate getting angry about it, more so when i'm playing with friends.

I was thinking about taking a break but with certain friends, it's the only game we have to play so any advice or tough love would be appreciated.

    Thanks everyone.

Resilience will solve like 90% of your getting hit while vaulting problems. Dead hard validation just means you are laggy or got outplayed.

Never gotten stuck while unhooking though. I'd probably shrug it off because DBD is a game with 5-10 minute matches and you just move onto the next one.

The fact that you have to use cooldown related add ons is a problem. I think it’s more about the shooting off two or three birds though.

Eh. I mean sure it would be nice if killers had good basekits but the reality is that I have more BP than I know what to do with half the time and it's not like i'm spending it on anything else. 7k in addons when I get like 40-50k a game with BBQ and then the game is just showering BP during events a ton of the time?

  • @Steel_Eyed said:

Weak killer. I think she needs buffs to her basekit cooldowns.

She's definitely not weak. Just immobile. Artist is one of those killers who can get away with not kicking jungle gym pallets or even the shack if you are playing her very well. There is almost no looping a good artist.

I always use the thick tar + festering carrion which are her best addons atm imo. Being able to shotgun blast 3 crows through a wall if someone is already swarmed is pretty nutty and those addons make it much easier to pull off.
