Thank you. I had considered maybe it was a skinless cat. I still don't get what the crown situation is. I don't know, I think it's just absolutely awful. And I have to agree, it doesn't fit the theme.

I really like your name btw.

I still don't get what the crown situation is

    Yeah, me neither.

The crown completely throws me off the cat theme. The tail also doesn't do the concept justice.

    image.png

It resembles Nemesis' tenatcle whip much more than a cat's tail.

I do like the outfit, I just wish they'd saved it for a monster-themed collection rather than a cat one.

I really like your name btw

    Thank you!

  • I actually like the cosmetic, but I don't think it fits with this collection.

I think it's supposed to be inspired by hairless cats, but it feels very far removed from the theme compared to the other cosmetics (which are very obviously cats).

It's giving much more Hellraiser Cenobite vibes than a cat creature.

  • They look great, but I'm going to pass on this collection on the principle that I hate sets.

  • From Ring:

    • Reiko Asakawa
    • Ryuji Takayama

    From Resident Evil:

    • Billy Coen
    • Ashley Graham
    • Luis Serra
  • Nothing good would come of it.

The killer already has to juggle four other players — their time in a match is stretched thin as is.

Not to mention it’s just another slot for DbD’s bad matchmaking to fill with someone of an inappropriate skill level.

  • I don't know exactly why, but there seems to be a philosophical shift towards putting an obscene amount of random junk

I generally don’t like to be conspiratorial but someone suggested this idea to me a while ago and I honestly think I believe it.

The theory goes that the recent changes in map design philosophy, including:

    • Making maps large (e.g. Garden of Joy, Decimated Borgo, Nostromo Wreckage).
    • Giving maps colour palettes that allow easy blending in of tracking mechanics (i.e. scratch marks and blood can be hard to see against the orange/brown colour palette of Borgo, and the plants of Toba Landing).
    • And adding an obscene amount of clutter (basically every map since the Red Forest rework).

Are intended to be indirect nerfs to Nurse.

On compact maps, with tight generator spreads and few LoS blockers, Nurse is effectively handed a free win. Making maps large, with lots of opportunities for survivors to break LoS gives them a much better chance in chase.

Obviously there’s no real proof for this, but it’s the only logical reason I can think of why they’d keep doing this when everyone clearly hates it.

    MC didn’t “confirm” anything.

He reiterated, yet again, what we’ve all known for years, now, and good ol’ King decided to put a thumbnail of JV with a big X thru his pic and say he isn’t coming to the game... the only truth to which, being that indeed, STILL, not anytime soon. King didn’t mean never, and he knows. He and Paulie have been speculating for years, every chapter, and it’s a running game (literally, making bets w silly wagers) between the two who would rightly guess JV first. They know it’s still a possibility.

Nothing of what MC said even leaned toward him “never” coming to DBD.

“”I mean, the game (F13th) lost the license to the game, right; this one is a legal quagmire, it’s literally a tarpit, you don’t wanna put your finger in it ‘cause you’re gonna get sucked in. Even that we had a good way ‘in’ we’d probably take a shot, because it’s Jason, right!? It’s Jason!

But so far, there’s been no opportunities.

There are others on the list who have similar answers as to why they’re not in the game yet.””

    ~Mathieu Côté

They’ve said the same thing for years.

    No one said “never.”

JV to DBD is always a possibility until they say it absolutely isn’t.

    But I didn’t say “never”.

I specifically said that next chapter won’t be F13 (since there’s been a lot of speculation for it recently) and we won’t see F13 in DbD for the “forseeable future.” Which is true.

DbD chapters take ~12 months to make. Côté confirmed that they haven’t been able to acquire the license. Which means that the very earliest we could see a F13 Chapter is a ~year away. (Assuming they manage to get the license tomorrow, which will most assuredly not be the case).

    No one said “never.”

Um. Yeah. Correct. Which is why I don’t understand the point you’re making.

It's to help the player being facecamped, not to help the team get free info and save time. Bring a perk if you want info, otherwise just go look.

It's to help the player being facecamped, not to help the team get free info and save time

But why can't it do both?

The disparity between solo queue and SWF is one of the biggest and longest standing problems with the game IMO. Showing the progress on the HUD wouldn't resolve it, but it would help.

  • @BubbaDredge said:

We'll get Jason eventually. By that time, everyone may have forgotten who he is, but it'll happen.

Perhaps. But I'm not going to hold my breath.

Its what this game needs to boost players tho. Imagine finally getting Jason. All the old f13 players would flood in.

I don't think DbD needs Jason. Sure, it would great to have him, but I think we'll manage without.

Either way, it's out of BHVR's hands unfortunately.

Bubba and Hillbilly can coexist and are way more similar than Trapper and Jason. Jason has plenty of source material to create an interesting and unique power upon and he is just the most recognizable Slasher.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3556550#Comment_3556550

The ownership may be split but Jason -as in the grown up ice hockey mask machete wielding one- is pretty much owned by one party along with any newer movies I think while the original movie with Pamela as killer, Camp Crystal Lake, Jason’s backstory are owned by the other one.

afaik those two will never work together and thus you can only have one of these.

at least that’s how I understood it. May be wrong on some details..

at least that’s how I understood it. May be wrong on some details.

Yeah, you're correct. Just did a bunch of reading about it and from what I gather:

    • Party 1 owns the rights to the original script (including child Jason, Pamela, Camp Crystal Lake etc.) but only in the USA. They do not hold international rights, and so if they wanted to use any of those assets, they could only distribute them in the USA.
    • Party 2 owns the rights to the sequels, including adult hockey mask Jason, but they cannot use him without permission from Party 1.

So any new Friday the 13th content (at least in the form we know and love) is stuck at a standstill unless both parties decide to cooperate. Given that they just spent years battling it out in court and are known to have different creative ideas about the franchise, I find the chances of them coming together to do anything unlikely.

  • @Venusa said:

Thank you for sharing this info! Imo it's always best to get a straight up "Yes/No" answer like this to these types of questions compared to being hopeful for a possibility for years just to be heartbroken in the end.

    Rest in Peace Jason lovers.🙏

I agree. I really appreciate Côté's transparency about this. It's very refreshing given that a lot of recent developer communications have just been vague non-answers.

  • @Mooks said:

Well. Maybe it’s Jason’s mother then and they have the license only for the first movie? 🤪 (which would include Camp Crystal Lake and I have never seen the movie but I assume it would make sense to not have a survivor in this case?)

the stream is scheduled for a Friday 13th after all..

but yeah the stream might actually just be about the Halloween event and maybe other stuff outside of next chapter anyways.

    Maybe it’s Jason’s mother then

I would actually much prefer to get Pamela over Jason. The first movie was by far the best and I think Pamela was a much more compelling villain than Jason was. As the series went on, it felt like he just became more and more of a caricature of himself, and the plot kind of went off the rails.

I assume it would make sense to not have a survivor in this case

Alice could be a candidate, given her role in the movie. But honestly, yeah, none of the counsellors are particularly fleshed out in the first entry. If they ever did a F13 chapter, I could see them skipping a survivor.

A shame, but not at all unexpected, I suppose.

Damn they had a real good opportunity to tease it on friday the 13th too. Ah well

a real good opportunity to tease it on friday the 13th too

It would've been awesome. Alas it's not to be.

  • Agreed.

Nothing irks me more than unnecessarily linked cosmetics.

  • Private; I don't like random people joining my lobbies.

I'm not going to subject myself to watching an Otz video, can someone tell me how Plot Twist and Deadlock are bugged? They have seemed fine all instabnces I've seen lately

    • Generators blocked by Deadlock can still lose progress from Pain Resonance.
    • Activating Plot Twist while holding the Lament Configuration will instantly solve it.
  • Don’t get me wrong, I like Otzdarva — he’s one of the few DbD content creators I actually watch.

But this list is way off base.

There’s a few genuinely problematic perks here, but most are fine and his rework ideas would just completely gut them…

  • Personally, I don't have an issue with it.

I'm not a good enough Blight to be able to pull it off myself, but I don't find it particularly unfair when I'm playing survivor.

  • Mine is just a mashup of the fact Onryō is my favourite killer and I miss video rental stores.

Plus I found the idea of Sadako handing out copies of the cursed tape at a Blockbuster or something to be hilarious.

    • The Ring Trilogy (Ring, Spiral, and Loop) by Kōji Suzuki. Ring and Spiral both have an eerie, bleak feel throughout and an engaging mystery. I also think Loop is a good read, but it completely does away with any traditional horror elements and is more sci-if/existential.

  • There's an easy solution to this problem: don't DC.

  • @GroßusSchmiedus said:

Grab a tape, you're immune from global condemned, something that apparently most people don't realise. She is not as great as people make her out to be once you know the counterplay.

I'm absolutely biased, given that I'm an Onryō main, but I agree. I'm yet to be Condemn killed since 7.1.0 dropped.

  • I think BHVR has some major issues with QA testing. I’m not trying to just mindlessly bash BHVR, but I can’t see any other way how:

    • Knight and Skull Merchant were conceptualised and designed for a year each without anyone behind the scenes thinking: “Hmm maybe these powers are a bad idea.” and reworking accordingly.
    • Every major patch brings a slew of game breaking bugs that should’ve been caught by play testing (e.g. phasing into lockers, Merciless Storm, Wesker and Demogorgon being able to turn invisible and go out of bounds etc.)
    • Maps keep releasing in an unplayable state for M1 killers and subsequently need hefty overhauls (e.g. Eyrie of Crows, Garden of Joy, Decimated Borgo etc.)
    • Performance issues, particularly on console, take a very long time to be acknowledged and addressed.
    • Killers release that just can’t function well on controller.

I think the play testing behind the scenes just isn’t comprehensive enough. It feels like we’re constantly dealing with issues that should never slipped through QA.

  • @Venusa said:

Yun-Jin has been an unfortunate victim of unnecessary linked outfits too... Look how her Seoul Socialite outfit doesn't even have any clipping issues or gaps when combined with other cosmetics. Then they released Surprise Performance as linked and surprise: that one can also be separated without much trouble.

"They do it to prevent clipping issues" isn't even valid because we already have unlinked cosmetics that cause worse clipping issues and nobody cares:

    WE WANT JUSTICE 🔥

Exactly! Back when you could break sets, I mixed and matched without any issues on Cheryl, Leon, Kate and Yun-Jin.

Sets are just one big sham.

  • Will give it a look the next time I load up the game, thanks for letting me know!

  • Too many variables to definitively say one way or the other.

  • @CookieBaws said:

i'm not hyped about Feng's outfit too. Especially lack of physics. We have full flow for Yun Jin's dress, but for Fengs it's not for some reason.

I haven’t seen anyone use it yet, but that’s a huge shame of it doesn’t even have good physics 😕

  • @M1_gamer said:

linked should never have been a thing in the first place. every single player loves to mix match etc. this is just removing something that everone enjoys. L move. Let us mix and make some wacky looking characters lol.

    Completely agree.

Customisation is one of my favourite parts of this game, and linked sets just put a damper on it.

  • @miniwengsel said:

Same for Killer wepons. If its not licenced it doesnt make sence.

Yes! I forgot to include that, but I totally agree.

  • Yeah, another collection I was looking forward too ruined by sets.

  • Isn't shutting down game chat and blocking comments on your steam profile enough?

    No. Not at all.

There are some people out there who go to genuinely absurd lengths to harass people over this game:

    • Disable post-game chat? They'll comment on your profile instead.
    • Disable your profile comments? They'll comment on your reviews, artwork, screenshots, friends' profiles etc.
    • Make aforementioned features all private? They'll spam you with friend invites.
    • Block them? They'll search you up to bother you on other platforms.
    • Change your account names so they can't find you on other platforms? They'll just grief you in-game whenever you get matched together -- especially if you play during off-peak hours like myself.

Thankfully, these kinds of people are rare. But this kind of thing does happen, and because of that, anonymous mode is necessary.

  • Honestly, I'd love to know too. I'm yet to be Condemn killed against post-7.10 Onryō. Cannot say the same for my solo queue teammates...

Ok thank you. What would be a killer attack that would not inflict the perk upon the Survivor?

A Nurse's blink attack, for example, is considered a special attack and so would not activate the perk. The same goes for The Pig's ambush, Victor's pounce, Nemesis' tentacle etc.

Generally speaking, basic attacks are those done by simply pressing or holding M1 (R2 and RT on Playstation and Xbox respectively), and special attacks are anything else -- usually they more directly involve the killer's power.

  • It does count.

Myers only hits with a basic attack, regardless of what Evil Within Tier he is in (with the exception being his Tombstone add-ons).

  • I wasn't aware they changed the Swamp. I can't find anything about it in the patch notes, so I'm guessing this is unintended.

  • Honestly I'd love to know too.

I hate to sound cynical, but I suspect subtle-cheating has something to do with it. I played against a P90 earlier who had ~200 hours in-game. It's definitely easier to earn Bloodpoints now but, I don't know, it seems suspicious to me.

  • I still play a 50/50 split (in accordance with the BP matchmaking incentives), but lately I have been enjoying my time as survivor more. Typically, I much prefer killer, and I'm not really sure why I'm finding it unfun. Perhaps I've just been unlucky with maps. I went to Garden of Joy and Badham Preschool twice each as Pig yesterday...

  • I honestly think this is one of the simplest maps to fix, and it frustrates me that they haven't already:

    • Add some more windows.
    • Remove a few pallets.

The overall layout of the map isn't particularly bad, it's just the incredibly low amount of windows, and extortionate number of safe pallets that's the problem.

  • That dress looks amazing. I'd love to see it in DbD.

Slightly unrelated, but I'd also love to see a Billy Coen legendary skin. RE0 is my favourite RE game.

  • Personally I think he should just start with all his traps.

If he didn't have to waste so much time running around the map to collect them, he might actually be okay.

  • I think it's mostly well-balanced. The loops and tiles are all okay. My only gripe with the map is it's a little too big. It could do with being made a tad less rectangular and more square-shaped IMO.

  • @Venusa said:

I've been having this for the past hours too. Kept checking if something is wrong with my internet but no... just DbD. Also before this I wasn't able to find matches. It's so weird.

Also before this I wasn't able to find matches

Same issue here! This happened to me in the first week of September on and off, but seemed to resolve itself. However, since yesterday evening, it's been happening again.

I don't have great internet, so I thought it might just be me. But I've checked my connection and played other online games and theres no issues. It's exclusively happening with DbD. Very odd.

  • Haven't tested the new anti-camping but I did play a couple games of Skull Merchant. Obviously it's still early days (and my opinions are still forming), but my first impressions are negative. She's just not really effective at anything anymore.

It feels like they removed her obnoxious niche of being able to pressure generators incredibly well, and forgot to give her anything else to compensate. Drones don't really do anything useful:

    • For survivors to get a Claw Trap, they have to get scanned three times. Four if the Drone was inactive. Any half-decent survivor is just going to leave a loop as soon as you put a Drone down.
    • Drones have a hefty cooldown.
    • The Undetectable status effect isn't really helpful. It's incredibly short, and kind of pointless given that the Drones are loud and float in the sky -- giving away your position anyways.
    • Drones are easy to disable.
    • Drones can't be manually reactivated.
    • Loops with high walls and indoor maps pretty much make your power obsolete, since Drones don't scan through walls or floors.

I will say, not being slowed while checking your Radar is nice. But it's ultimately inconsequential. I just don't see the point of her power. Like, how did they even intend people to use this?

  • @Venusa said:

Exactly. It's so weird how the smallest change takes months. Some of the perks I listed don't even require a complex overhaul. Looking at how long it takes to see these mundane changes I can't imagine when the perks I listed will be worth running. I'm getting old.

(Likewise. I also felt guilty and even thought about sending a message to you but your profile was private. I apologize if I made you upset. Sometimes debates get heated but it's not worth it. I'm actually quite fond of your commentary and love your username.💗)

I had the same thought! I was just about to reach out when I saw that you'd made this thread so I thought I'd just leave a comment here instead.

I also enjoy your insight in a lot of the threads I've seen you in. I'm glad there's no hard feelings.

Best wishes out there in the Fog!

(and here's to hoping that BHVR picks up the pace with addressing underwhelming perks 🙏).

  • Agreed. I understand creating and maintaining a live service game like DbD can't be easy, but at the same time I just cannot fathom why it takes so long for weak perks to be buffed. And then when they do get buffed it's a 1 second number change...

Only 2 perk changes in a three month period is not good enough. There's a massive efficiency problem going on at BHVR.

(Also on an unrelated note, I'd like to extend an apology to you for being uncivil in a thread a few days back. I didn't approach the conversation well and I regret that.)

  • Sorry but I think this is a massive waste of development time.

I don't understand why time is constantly being spent on things noone asked for, when there's a whole host of issues and features that the community has been begging to be addressed for years...

  • I think they just don’t know what to do with her. I used to be a Nurse main for ~6 years and I honestly have no idea what they could do with her.

Every rework suggestion I’ve seen for her falls into one of two categories:

    • Completely kills her and alienates her existing players. This also makes the strongest killer in the game Blight — a DLC character — which would cause P2W accusations to skyrocket.
    • Does nothing to address what makes her so oppressive.
