  • We can see prestiges in the prematch lobby again...Intended? Thoughts?

Displeased. I don't like seeing prestige in lobby when I'm playing survivor or killer:

    • As a survivor, you get people dodging or targeting you specifically for high or low prestiges.
    • As a killer, seeing a lobby full of high prestiges can be disconcerting. At least for me, seeing a bunch of P100s immediately knocks my confidence for the upcoming game. It's a little silly really -- considering I'm a P100 killer myself. But I don't know, it just throws me off.

Yikes, why are all the Sadako outfits linked?🤢

Can't even mix & match the weapons.

    I know right! It's such a shame :(

Yoichi's is too. I don't even think it's a licensing thing because Yoichi has another cosmetic in the store that's unlinked.

  • For anyone else interested, r/DeusShockSkyrim identified the kanji as "怨", meaning "grudge, resentment, or jealous".

    Big thanks to them!

    Why is it goopy?

I always thought the blighted puss was similar to molten steel.

Hot to the touch, but flows like water. Sparking, sizzling, and capable of starting fires.🔥

    Same here.

If they were to add any sound effect, I would've preferred it to be a sizzle or something.

  • Yeah, it's been happening to me ever since 7.3.0 dropped. There's been a large influx of threads over the past few weeks of people reporting similar issues. You're definitely not the only one.

I also have 6k hours, and that was 100% cheating. It is IMPOSSIBLE to make it all the way to shack window, even with just MFT, with perfect pathing, if the killer catches you on backside of shack where I caught him. The fact he runs such a wide arc around my snare and still manages to make the window is just the slap on the face. I made sure to hug him tight before M1ing the rest of the game. I still got the 4k because his teammates wanted to take hits for a blatant cheater, but there should be no question. I think if this thread proves anything, it's the brainrot that MFT has introduced in people's minds.

    there should be no question

I'm genuinely baffled that people are trying to convince you that this is legit. It's one of the least subtle cases of subtle-cheating I've ever seen.

You can clearly see in the videos that he speeds up every time he rounds a corner (which is something cheaters do to try and hide the fact they're cheating). It could not be more obvious that this Ace is hacking but like you said, it seems MFT has completely skewed peoples' perceptions of what's normal in this game.

  • This is blatant speed hacks.

And the fact that people are confusing this with MFT is a massive tell that MFT is unhealthy for the game.

  • Bug or exploit

    Likely neither.

Power Struggle is a perk that allows survivors to pull a standing pallet down while carried upon reaching a certain percentage of wiggle progress:

    image.png

This can be combined with Flip-Flop to instantly stun the killer if picked up in a pallet:

    image.png

  • They only changed it by 0.15 seconds... The difference is barely noticeable.

  • You're not the only one. We've had a good few people -- myself included -- make threads about this since 7.3.0 dropped.

You say nobody is saying the reward should be Prestige or that the reward does not need to be 72 Cosmetics.

While you may be happy with a Charm, its not what most others are saying, I have been following the conversation on Twitter and Youtube. Its pretty clear they want fully fledged cosmetics. Then the question I asked does not apply to you.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3566818#Comment_3566818

But I see we both agree on an effect toggle as a compromise to the controversy, that's good, we should work to persuade bHVR of it.

You say nobody is saying the reward should be Prestige

I meant that nobody is saying Prestige is the only way BHVR could or should reward long-time players. It's certainly the most talked about though.

Its pretty clear they want fully fledged cosmetics.

There's definitely a lot of people who do want this yeah. Personally, I think it's a little unreasonable to expect BHVR to make 72 individual cosmetics for a reward most will never see.

I see we both agree on an effect toggle as a compromise to the controversy

It's the most sensible option IMO. They should take the void effect, and make it red or iridescent or something. I think that would please most people.

I can understand them not doing complete cosmetics as P100 Rewards because they won't get money for them.

But I would like to get the new Void effect you get when entering it as P100 reward. Just the effect that you can equip in addition to your normal cosmetics. It already exists for this event, so it should not be so much work to implement as reward.

If you don't know which effect I mean, it's this one:

    Completely agree!

The groundwork already exists, so it's not like it would be too demanding to implement.

The P100 badge is completely meaningless considering you’re the only one who can see it now. It’s also pretty ugly to be honest.

If you think P100 badge meaningless and ugly. Why did you go to P100 then? Like if it was possible to go to P1000 would you do it? and P10 000?

Because we’ve dedicated more time and effort than anyone else. 🤷‍♂️

It only makes sense to reward players for their dedication and longevity, otherwise people eventually get bored and drop the game.

People who play as long as we have probably enjoy the game to some degree, You get blood points for your efforts, you get shards for your efforts as well. So you ARE rewarded 100%, but for dedication: I have probably dedicated more time to this game than you, but I have no P100 character. Why should dedication only be counted by Prestige?

It’s not really up to you to determine how much people should play the game.

bHVR already have designed the game to have meaningful unlocks, it depends on what you think is meaningful or not. You have already told me you think the P100 badge meaningless and ugly. I'm perfectly right to question that when you ask for 72 cosmetics for free for Prestige, it has nothing to do with me setting a time for play, you play as long as you want.

If you think P100 badge meaningless and ugly. Why did you go to P100 then?

I didn't intentionally set out to get to P100, it happened because I play a lot. I spend my Bloodpoints on the character I earn them with. Because I play Onryō the most, I spend the bulk of my Bloodpoints on her. And naturally, she eventually reached P100.

Like if it was possible to go to P1000 would you do it? and P10 000?

Eventually, for the same reason as above.

I have probably dedicated more time to this game than you

    Okay.

Why should dedication only be counted by Prestige?

Nobody said it had to be.

I'm perfectly right to question that when you ask for 72 cosmetics for free for Prestige

I'd be happy with a charm or some other relatively low resource-intensive reward.

They already have the groundwork for applying effects to all characters regardless of the cosmetics they're wearing. Like the blue splashes survivors get when infected with the T-virus, glowing blue cracks characters get while in the void, orange embers that characters emitted while interacting with the Chinese New Year event etc. They could easy take one of those systems, recolour it, and call it a day. It doesn't need to be 72 fully fledged cosmetics

  • @Emeal said:

Why do you think Prestige suddenly needs an extra reward besides the P100 badge? The badge is all that was advertised, why should bHVR fish out 72 awesome cosmetics for FREE no less just because you play this game more than is needed=?

It’s not really up to you to determine how much people should play the game.

  • Since it shows how you loved and are dedicated to the game

I’d be happy with something as little as a charm to be honest, although a full cosmetic would be great.

It just feels kind of a slap in the face that BHVR isn’t willing to give us P100 players anything because they claim they don’t want to promote FOMO, but are happy to pump out hundreds of dollars worth of time-limited cosmetics.

Like surely the players who’ve put the most time and effort (and likely money over the years) deserve at least a little reward.

  • Same thing happened to me earlier. Restarting my game fixed the issue.

Hard disagree. There's nothing unfair about rewarding those who put the most time, effort (and likely money) into the game.

I see lots of people rage-quit at 5 gens, regardless of Prestige.

Once again, for you maybe -- not necessarily the rest of the playerbase.

  • Killers just proxy camp

So in other words, the anti-facecamping system is a huge success? Since it's doing exactly what it's designed to do and preventing killers from planting themselves directly in front of a hook.

  • And the curse of backpacks continues to ruin otherwise good cosmetics.

  • We've been saying this ever since 7.3.0 dropped but the issue seems to be being completely ignored.

You'd counter MFT in the same way you'd counter any skilled looper. You mindgame, you improve your pathing where possible, you drop chase and ambush later to give them less of a head start, you use your power (not just in a direct chase way; you cite Ghostface, who is capable of shutting down MFT completely with good play), you chase into deadzones where applicable.

This is generally the context that is missing when people try and talk about MFT in hard numbers. The reality of a trial with skilled players is tossed out the window and only individual chases with all the nuances sanded off are considered.

I think citing Garden of Joy is putting your thumb on the scale a bit. It's not as though MFT is needed to make that a nightmare for a lot of killers.

But that isn't a specific counter to the perk. "Just be good at chasing" is not a counter.

    • "You mindgame": Not all loops are mindgame-able.
    • "improve your pathing where possible": And if you're already pathing as efficiently as possible, how does this counter the additional speed MFT provides?
    • "you drop chase and ambush later": This is easy to say but doesn't always work out in your favour in a match. If you drop chase, you now have to go and find another survivor and initate a fresh chase with them, only to potentially discover that they have MFT and Resilience too, and are going to waste just as much time as your previous chase. You can't drop chases indefinitely. If everyone is efficient loopers and running perks to extends chases, you're left with no choice but to chase and down one of them.
    • "you use your power": Again, not all killers have a power for this. In theory, killers like Shape and Ghostface can bypass MFT. But in actual matches, you're not going to have a chance to proc your power in every single chase you initiate. Sometimes you are forced to chase as an M1 killer. Even if you do bypass MFT by making survivors Exposed, they will still come of the hook injured -- at which point your power is not going to help you much. Obviously Ghostface does have stealth capability, and can ambush injured survivors. But Shape post-Tier 1 doesn't really have that capacity (at least not basekit).

citing Garden of Joy is putting your thumb on the scale a bit. It's not as though MFT is needed to make that a nightmare for a lot of killers.

How so? It's not as if Garden of Joy is the only instance of tough loops made even worse by MFT (and adjacent perks). Badham Preschool main building, Mother's Dwelling main building, various buildings on Haddonfield, the log loop on Backwater Swamp, etc.

Certain loops being problematic even without MFT is not a good defense of the perk either way.

If the only counter being to completely shut the perk off with Exhaustion were even close to true, you may have a point here, but you'll forgive me for not being convinced on that front.

It is entirely true that the numbers you've been given here for how much longer it takes the killer to catch up are numbers in a vacuum, but you seem to be under the impression the elements that weren't taken into account - loops, where on the map you are, killer powers, other perks in play - would make the numbers worse, and I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion. The only way that would be the case, from what I can see, is if a killer is just following the survivor in a completely straightforward manner with no input beyond holding the W key and turning the mouse where necessary.

If the only counter being to completely shut the perk off with Exhaustion were even close to true

Please expain the counterplay to me then.

you seem to be under the impression the elements that weren't taken into account - loops, where on the map you are, killer powers, other perks in play - would make the numbers worse, and I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion.

Because it's the only logical conclusion:

    • Survivors are smaller and can hug loops tighter than the killer, which is the very reason that looping is even possible. Adding a Haste effect on top of this, makes loops even safer. The only way it wouldn't help is if the survivor is completely atrocious.
    • MFT is not only helpful at loops, it also helps you to reach them and chain them into one another.

The only way that would be the case, from what I can see, is if a killer is just following the survivor in a completely straightforward manner

Not all killers have a chase power, and some of them that do, have a bad one.The Shape, Ghostface, Onryō, Pig etc. Which means that at some loops, all you can do is follow in a straight line and turn as needed. Garden of Joy main building for instance. The window is incredibly safe, and generally unmindgameable due to how long the wall is. There's also a god pallet right next to it that survivors have to fall back on if they do happen to mess up.

  • survivors who have MFT equipped (and are affected by it, so this would disable while Exhausted and/or healthy, for instance) should have a visual tell so the killer knows to play around it

But the problem is, the perk has no inherent counterplay for the killer.

The only counterplay (I use that word very loosely here) the perk has is equipping add-ons or perks that make survivors Exhausted. But since you cannot alter your build mid-match, there's nothing a killer can actually do about it once they realise it's in play. You could argue that killers should just equip such builds for all games they play, but it's not a viable option considering:

    • Not all killers even have Exhaustion add-ons.
    • Not all killers can afford to waste perk slots on Exhaustion-inflicting perks.
    • Plus, most perks that do this are very bad at it. E.g. Blood Echo has an overly long cooldown, Genetic Limits has a niche activation requirement, Septic Touch is... just terrible in every way, etc.

The only consistent counterplay to MFT being "have foresight of the perks that the survivors will run so you can preemptively equip Exhaustion builds" doesn't sit right with me.

You could argue that giving MFT a visual tell allows the killer to make more informed decisions about which chases to commit to and which to drop. But that also doesn't work in situations where all of the survivors have MFT (in addition to other chase perks like Resilience and WoO). Okay, so the perk has a visual tell, and I now know that the whole team is running MFT. But what exactly am I supposed to do with that information?

    Prevent stacking

I see this suggestion a lot, but I don't think it will solve the problem. Haste stacking only exacerbates the problem with MFT, but I honestly believe the 3% on its own is still an issue. Yeah, it sounds like a very small number when you think of it compared to the absolute speed of 100%. But that's not what's relevant in a chase. The length of time it takes for killers to catch survivors is governed by differential speed between the two. Running the numbers (as has been done in this Reddit post, as well as many times here on the forums) reveals that even a small 3% speed boost for the survivor increases the length of time required to catch a survivor by:

    • 25% for 4.6 m s^-1 killers.
    • 42% for 4.4 m s^-1 killers.

And that's in a vacuum. Not even considering the extra loops around windows, pallets, debris etc. that MFT allows you to get. Slap on Resilience to vault faster, and WoO to plan your pathing better -- and chases are going to last a WHOLE lot longer.

This game has been balanced around survivors running at 100% movement speed. All of the tiles are designed with that speed in mind. Giving survivors a movement speed boost that can last the entire game causes a number of these loops to just become unmanagable for M1 killers. Sure, they'll eventually be able to catch up due to window blockers and Bloodlust. But by the time it happens, all of the generators have popped and the game is as good as over.

The 3% is also impactful in the way that it messes with killer's muscle memory. We've spent 7 years learning the distances our lunges, killer powers, etc. can hit at. And MFT throws that all off just by a narrow margin. It's frustrating.

Another point I see brought up a lot to defend the 3% of MFT, is other Haste perks like Dark Theory or Blood Pact. At first, it seems only logical that if MFT is overtuned these perks must be too. But there's a big difference between them. Dark Theory and Blood Pact grant Haste under strict conditions:

    • Dark Theory has to be set up, which wastes survivors' time. Moreover, The Haste effect only applies in a relatively small radius, and the killer can disable it -- forcing survivors to sink more time into searching for and blessing totems if they want the Haste effect again.
    • Blood Pact has a niche activation requirement. Someone needs to get injured, lose the killer, find their partner, heal and then stay within 16 metres of each other. That means to get value out of the perk, two survivors have to stay grouped up and get chased together -- which is terribly inefficient.

Compare that to MFT where the only activation requirements are:

    • Running,
    • and being injured.

Both of which are normal occurences in a chase. There's no requirement to go out of your way to get the perk. It's just there, passively, for the whole game.

In my opinion, MFT is a disaster of a perk that should've never been released. The fact it's now taken over 5 months to rectify is unacceptable really. Playing an M1 killer in the current "4 chase perks" meta is like trying to ride a bicycle with square wheels.

  • Yes!

I wish there was an option to disable the intro videos entirely.

Yeah it’s nice to see it the first one or two times after a new Chapter comes out. But after that it’s unnecessary.

  • Hit boxes have been bad on every map they’ve done since the Red Forest overhaul.

There’s so much random tiny debris that you (and ranged attacks) snag on.

It’s the reason I can’t tolerate playing Hillbilly anymore.

This is actually an issue that is affecting a lot of people lately. Since the 7.3.0, I've had countless matches where the server just boots everyone from the game and we all get a disconnect penalty for it. One time it happened thrice in a play session to me.

  • It's a bug that seemingly came with the 7.3.0 update. Interacting with the Lament Configuration breaks your ability to use Possessed Chains for the remainder of the match. Sometimes it just seems to randomly happen too.

The amount of linked cosmetics we’ve been getting too is wild the community hates them but they keep linking stuff I don’t get it

I don't understand it at all.

Hating linked sets is like the only thing we can all agree on, and yet they insist on doing it again and again.

  • I was just speaking with a friend about this. The rate of giving up has skyrocketed recently.

I played a bunch of games yesterday, and survivors gave up in so many of them. I’m not even playing with particularly strong killers or builds.

    1. As Trapper: Someone DCed after the first down and then everyone else gave up on hook.
    2. As Trapper: Someone got trapped and I picked them up. They didn’t wiggle, and as soon as they were hooked they killed themselves.
    3. As Hag: Hooked someone in basement and they killed themselves on hook straight away.
    4. As Wesker: Match was going normally, I’d gotten a few hooks in and two generators had been done. I keep hearing a loud noise notification coming from where someone was unhooked earlier. Turns out they had gone AFK under the hook.
    5. As Hag: Went against a survivor with Boil Over on Midwich. Their teammate messed up a sabotage save and so I managed to hook them. They killed themselves on hook.

I just don’t get what’s changed all of a sudden.

Sorry but this is unacceptable. I should not be getting a disconnect penalty when it's the game server that's at fault. If this isn't going to be fixed quickly (i.e. in a couple of days) then the DC penalty needs to be temporarily disabled. This is getting out of hand.

  • Experienced the same problem yesterday!

I understand this, but even for Meg, Claudette, Nea or Kate it isn't that obvious. They get cosmetics at normal rates, but Feng? Here, take 3 + prime + X + bla (it was like this during the lunar new year).

In addition the charm are 3 times the same monster from her game and it's 3 monsters. Why? Why not give Dredge some charms? The shadow one is so lame tbh. I don't even know if the doll house is supposed to be for Dredge or just a "toy" charm (it looks like Garden of Joy).

I agree. I do think she gets a disproportionate amount of cosmetics.

I also would've preferred more Oni and Dredge themed charms. None of the "Reign of Kaiju" ones appeal to me at all.

Didn't they say they were working against that? I've noticed they released more and more Haddie cosmetics cause people demanded it.

Feng may be the most popular but she ain't the only character; I personally don't play her and it's cool for those who do to get cosmetics/charms but spread the love to other characters too.

Didn't they say they were working against that?

Yeah, they did. I can't remember exactly when or where, but they said that they were expanding their art/cosmetics team so they could deliver cosmetics to more characters -- particularly those that had been neglected like Haddie.

spread the love to other characters too

That map is such an eyesore. Trying to track scratch marks and blood on that map is a nightmare. I was really hoping they would change the colour pallete, but it somehow feels even worse after the rework.

  • What is it always with Feng getting everything?

    Simply because she's popular.

    It's a bit of a vicious cycle:

a survivor is popular --> developers release lots of cosmetics for them because it's lucrative --> people are drawn to play the survivor because they have good cosmetic options --> that survivor becomes even more popular --> and so on.

The opposite is true for the relatively unpopular characters (like Haddie, Jeff, Jonah etc.)::

a survivor is unpopular --> very few cosmetics are released because they don't sell well --> people are put off playing the survivor because the customisation options are poor --> that survivor becomes even less popular --> and so on.

  • But i could have swarn you used to be shown both of the cases i pointed out

Noticed this too when I was doing the Dredge challenges. I can't find anything about it in the patch notes so either it's a shadow change or a bug. Hopefully the latter.

I have to say I'm really disappointed, because this was looking like the first patch we'd had in a while where something didn't go disastrously wrong. But alas, BHVR continues to disappoint...

  • I had a Pig try to facecamp earlier and it did the job.

  • I don't like her old chase music or her new chase music.

Both sound like frying pans clattering down a staircase to me.

  • I actually like the collection.

Isn't this game supposed to be horror themed?

I'd argue that a werewolf with its innards showing and face partially ripped off is pretty horrifying.

Plus, Dead by Daylight has long since delved into goofy and comical cosmetics. This collection is pretty tame compared to some of the sillier things they've came out with.

  • but to get 100% escape from hook i need to get stage 2

No you don't. You can unhook at any stage so long as the meter is filled.
