  • Game makes the lions share of it's money through cosmetics. People like knowing that others are seeing the cosmetics. If you make that less likely, they will be less inclined to purchase cosmetics.

It's not happening. No game with cosmetic purchases has this option.

What i never understood is that the Sacrifical Ward offering removes the rest of the map offerings that got burnt. Okay, thats good, but why in the world does not work if there are 4 of the same map offering? I mean, is just another way for the SWF to annoy the killer even more??

It does work if there are four of the same offering. Sac wards make the map selection random, so you can be sent to the map the offering was for by happenstance.

Any way, make sac wards brown. Offerings are fine.

  • Sounds good to me, but they'll never touch knight again. Content creators hate him.

  • Pretty sure it used to be like this. One of many baffling and arbitrary changes.

Agree with the OP. Making the 1v1 less interactive is not fun for survivors but it seems to be the point of most killer updates now. I hope they could focus a bit more on 4v1 if they feel the need to buff killers, rather than make them less interactive as a whole which is becoming increasingly common.

When there's 1v4 people complain relentlessly. Can't go do pinhead's box. Can't turn off sadako TVs. Hit and run is "boring". Anything that applies pressure to the team gets overwhelmingly negative feedback. So what do they have left? They made a lady that does traps and people hate her. They made a dude with minions and people hate him. There's only so many times you can make a killer that throws themselves or something at survivors to damage them. So what exactly do you expect them to do?

  • Didn't they put clutter on it to stymie hillbilly and such?

  • Dracula seems to chase 90% of the time as the wolf anyway.

  • If the other killers with similar bugs are getting them removed this should as well.

  • Considering that every stealth killer is essentially a basic m1 killer with no antiloop I'd say the odds were already pretty even.

  • I can do merciless skill checks vs Dr four beers in with no problem. And I am hardly the best survivor in the world.

I'd rather it be given some minor secondary effect than lean on the main one. Not sure what that coming be though.

That's for them to work out. Although there's many ways, ASK, change T&C to declare. Suspend accounts.

    Why so cynical?

Just taking answers, not further questions.

Ok. Your answer is that it is impossible for them to do the thing you want them to do. They have also given you the tools to hide your name. Feel free to use them.

  • Please let killers just have unique stuff. I understand "solo bad" but nightfall doesn't affect it any more than grouped players. You can still see auras. Run ultra meta perk Windows of Opportunity and you won't have any problems with it.

  • Maybe in game. Absolutely not in the lobby.

    Okay,
    Killers:

    Painres+dms+grim embroken combo

    Franklins+Weavabroken

Billy rework and his overdrive, completely broken.

Unknown and his kit, completely broken. Easy mode version of artist with a teleport.

Nemesis unnecessary distance to TIII, completely broken.

Dracula and his kit, completely broken. Needs actual counterplay other than the dracula being bad.

Lich and his kit, completely broken. Needs actual counterplay other than the lich being bad.

    Blight still broken.

    Nurse still broken.

    Plague Black incense, broken.

    Survivors: (mostly all fixed)
How many iterations of broken DH?

    Buckle up broken

    MFT broken

    Brokenground player

    Finesse not being exhaustion, broken.

Ease of Distortion charge generation, broken.

Can think of more will post when I get to them.

I'm not gonna go through this line by line, but it's incredibly enlightening at to your attitude toward the game.

Gens are the survivor's objective. Survivors themselves are the killer's objective.

But, more to the point, I meant that survivors don't create the killer's pressure for them. The survivor dangling there isn't, themselves, providing pressure to the killer, the fact that you can occupy multiple survivors at once while they're there is what gives you pressure. Obviously survivors can create their own team's pressure, apologies if that wasn't clear.

Dunno what you call a survivor working on a high value gen and prerunning when you get near anything but t creating pressure. That you think pressure is the sole province of killer is........ ridiculous.

I dont like this argument "But he only has that, without it…."

Id rather see something done to his kit to FIX that issue, rather than having these two, blatantly broken, addons in the game.

The idea is to GET RID of broken things, the devs keep adding on layers and layers of this crap and its gotta stop.

Hooks should be interacted with, you can mori but have it extremely restricted. Much like PH stage II should be what we aim for.

Like what layers and layers? The stuff you're complaining about is years old?

  • Isn't that the insanely powerful version it launched with(

  • All the perks you're referencing at the beginning of your post have been nerfed. Some heavily. I can't even remember the last time I saw Save.

    Here is my steps

    1. Kindred is basekit
    2. Bond is basekit
    3. Increase the range of bond and kindred if the perk is used with it.

Here is the reasonings for it
    1. SwF teams already do it already
    2. It allows BHVR to be a better reading how good killers are really doing and balance accordingly.
    3. Solo won't be as lost and hopeless against killers.

I dunno what sort of seal team six swfs you're playing with, but I've never played with people who have perfect, infallible callouts on where they are at all times. Or perfect, infallible callouts on where the killer is or going after hook.

At that point you may as well give constant aura reading on where the killer is at all times. Swf calls it out, right? Aura reading on where generators are. Swf know it, apparently. Basekit Windows. Don't swf call out every pallet they drop and structure and window location?

Realistically speaking, the swfs you're talking about that wouldn't benefit are very rare. A boogieman that lives in killers' heads. This stuff would benefit uncoordinated swfs way more than solo. You can shove information down the throat of the Claudette crouching in the corner all day. Making her act on it is a different thing entirely.

  • This. There's also way too many interstitial screens.

  • Fortunately that goes away after a second

It‘s a good idea, but I hope they reduce the gen progress back to 33%, where it was before the nerf.

This. Making parity between it and blast mine was a nonsense decision. They are different perks that do different things. They don't need the same activation requirements.

  • I'm sorry that you had a bad game, that time. Don't see the relation to no mither however.

..... you did play survivor when it was the "eruption, brine, pop stall till survivors rage quit" era right?

Yes, I've posted about how it was my least favorite time in the game..... Several times. That doesn't mean those perks should be made useless. Merely that the problematic parts of them should be changed while they still have some functionality. I also didn't rage quit, I started taking empathy so I could tell when a survivor was about to go down so that I wouldn't get hit with eruption. Poor counterplay, but it's what we had.

It's pretty silly to look at a perk and say "boy am I glad THAT dumpster fire is in the ground" like it aggrieved you personally. It's just a perk. It doesn't bear you any ill will. Viable perks are good. Perk variety is good.

  • Yes. It needed even-handed nerfs like every other perk that gets double and triple nerfed like iron will, DS, ultimate weapon, ruin etc etc. No perk should be gutted into uselessness, it's bad for the game. There's no reason for it.

  • You quit playing the game..…....because of a sound effect? Huh.

They'll never add options for granular stuff like this. It's not worth the time to do so and would clutter up the options menu.

  • Absolutely not. The last thing I need is a thirteen year old screeching at me because I didn't do this or that thing they wanted me to do

Say Im playing Champion of light, Residual Manifest, BG player and Flashbang. Why should Lightborne shut down more than half my build, not to mention ANY item i bring/get during the match via perks or otherwise?

Currently, balance is the reason I want Distortion as it is. Because just like Lightborne, if the killer doesn't bring aura perks, I've a completely dead perk. Balance.

As for implying, I am not implying anything currently, just stating my thoughts and opinions. :)

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3792322#Comment_3792322

This is the game by design though. 1v4 you're gonna have that. Not really sure what to say other than maybe try survivor more? But I'll bite and see what happens lol.

Even if only 3 survivors bring distortion, you still get value out of aura builds. A lot less, but you still do.

Lightborne shuts 100% off, all the time, for existing on the same map as any of the other 4 players playing the game.

That's my response as in my mind Distortion and Lightborne are two sides of the same coin. I feel its the most balanced spot in the sea of survivor and killer perks that gives equal levels of power for simply existing. That said, Distortion still has conditions, can run out into nothing, and often is a dead perk anyway.

Yeah that is the game by design. Which is like, why I said that? I play whatever the incentive is. These accusations of "you're an X main" are incredibly limp-wristed. Don't care for em. I also couldn't care less about lightborn. I don't use it. Get rid of it. Give it tokens like someone else suggested. Whatever. They aren't equivalent.

My point that killer perks should not generally be shut down by survivor perks stands. They're supposed to be stronger because there are less of them. If I run alien instinct and like you said, 3/4 survivors have distortion then no, I'm likely not getting that perk to proc once. That's funneling me into perks that I know I'll get value out of. Grim embrace, pain res, surge, etc etc. That's unhealthy for the game. Full stop.

There's dozens of common sense ways to nerf distortion that allow it to do it's job while also not nullifying weaker aura reading perks entirely. It's not fine the way it is now. Sorry.

  • Eruption is one of many perks that got absolutely butchered for no good reason along with ultimate weapon and call of brine.

The incap effect was terrible and probably the worst time I've ever had in the game. Even worse than DH/unbreakable/DS/iron will on every survivor every match. There's many common sense ways to buff eruption without making it overbearing. Honestly the 3 gen blocking thing needs to only be one event with it. It's basically unusable as it is.

  • @Skillfulstone said:

First, let's be honest here. Looking at most nerfs, Distortion is likely getting sent to the Shadow Realm in order to make people shut up about it.

For the sake of optimism let's say it doesn't get absolutely gutted and we're aiming for a healthy change without removing yet another perk that isn't a gen-speed perk from the game from common viable loadouts. I would honestly think Distortion should be tied to gen progress.

The most common complaint I see about Distortion is that it makes people not do gens and play like rats (which is nonsense, almost everyone using it is simply trying to avoid being sniped/chased 5 seconds into the game or being able to actually hide near gens and survive against a half-decent Nurse) so why not make it so that token recharge is tied to gen repair instead of Killer proximity?

Something like needing to repair 15-20% of a gen to recover a token.

So Killers that are slugging for the 4k but just can't seem to find that last Survivor will eventually get their juicy and wanted 4k due to Survivors needing to stop hiding if they want to keep avoiding aura-reading and inevitably getting spotted eventually. Or when two Survivors remain at 2+ gens remaining because someone went next on 1st hook (which basically means an impossible situation) they will need to eventually do gens (and get spotted eventually) to stay hidden.

It will make hiding for long periods of time harder and will force Survivors to contribute if they want to hide.

Honestly I'm likely just being too optimistic with this. It's likely that the goal is simply to make Distortion complaints go away just like Ultimate Weapon complaints (lo and behold, people no longer complain about UW) and it will likely be something like "tokens don't recharge" or it's aura-reading block being so short that most aura perks will chew through 2 tokens or the recharge timer being so long that barring a Wesker using Distressing on Dead Dawg it's going to be hard to recharge tokens before getting found and chased.

I've gotta be one of the few people that ran distortion when it didn't recharge and while it was fun to figure out when I want to spend my tokens vs BBQ n chili, it absolutely was not good.

Make it start it with 2 tokens and give one per unhook/heal/gen % or something. There's dozens of ways to nerf it in a common sense way. Since it's a survivor perk I expect it to get a gentle tap on the wrist.

Do you feel survivors shouldn't have aura denial? Or just Distortion is too much? I struggle to find a balance that seems… balanced.

If Distortion gets gutted, there will not be a reliable aura denial perk. There are some that do it in one way or another, but Distortion is straight forward. Just wish all that extra stuff wasn't tacked on. Hoping thats the part that goes bye bye.

I think aura denial should be earned by something more stringent than existing on the map with the killer. A survivor's perk shutting off a killers' should be a very very rare thing, as it's 1/16 perks denying 1/4 killer perks.

The only killer that consistently chews through my Distortion tokens is Huntress. Like every time lol. While they aren't 'infinite', they aren't depleting against soft aura reading.

If a killer build is hardcore aura reading, then Distortion is not going to help the survivor. This has been shown and I've experienced it plenty. But those same killers probably fall a few tiers if you get them to play without auras. But I digress.

Exactly. I really like Alien instinct, but distortion makes it terribly unreliable. I don't think that's good for the game.

  • @KeonLennedy said:

I really don't understand why people act like Trickster is some kind of anomaly and "so difficult to face" when Huntress is far worse than him. As a Trickster main I find him easy to verse, just don't get caught out in the open if you know you're versing him and if you have to be out in the open, you have to accept that you're going to go down and you need to drag him away from your teammates. As long as you find any kind of cover or have any kind of exhaustion Perks that give you distance you're golden. He's really not that big of a deal, especially if he doesn't have that brown throw rate add-on.

A lot of complaints about X killer would be solved if they would simply play as the killer for a while.

Killer you hate? Play as them into you start getting good survivors, then do what they do vs that killer. It's how I learned to play against Knight. People just don't want to learn, they want the stuff they don't like neutered.

  • @Marc_123 said:

Distortion does not need a nerf. You already only have 3 tokens.

I could imagine they add the 2v8 effect that it shows when your aura is being revealed.

Yeah, 3 infinite tokens. It may as well be permanent aura block vs standard TR killers without stealth. And no, gearhead will not get rid of the tokens on it's own.

  • How do you define tunneling?

They are coming up with nerfs. I guarantee it.

  • @ShanoaLegendaryPlz said:

Point i was trying to make is that he didnt always have instadown, and now everyone focuses on it so much they forget they left 3 people in one corner with no pallets to use all injured just to go look for the last guy thats had all the time in the world to run across the map when u couldve downed 1 or 2 of those people alredy. You could even use the add on that makes them oblivious when hit, and the addon that shows their aura when mending, hit them, fake leaving and come back sneaking up on them. Hes definitely not about instadown its more of a bonus event if you happen to have all 4 people in a bad position. Otherwise he is for keeping most of the group injured and picking people off when they are in unsafe positions

Nobody good falls for that. They use check spots to mend.

Legion's power vs competent survivors is to get one or two easy health states and nothing else. They won't let you chain hits. It's really sad to basically not be able to use your power except for the most basic component of it.

For having to search 2 chests (almost 30 seconds total?) the perk triggering in 30 seconds sounds a lot more rewarding.

I don't think survivors need more perks with too safe numbers.

It's designed to be combined with a suite of chest perks.

  • I play whatever the incentive is. If you do that, then you're helping the problem for others.

  • They're fine. I love beating people that bring me to a map of their choosing. Or when they bring me to RPD or something. Surprise! I'm playing dredge!

Make them iri or something maybe. I dunno. I don't really use them

  • Distortion harms build variety for 32m killers without stealth. There is no single perk that will deplete tokens faster than distortion gains them. No, not even gearhead.

Typically I love reading long posts like this but that's just..... Too much. I'm sorry.

  • I think after all gens are done the killer should be able to exit the match through the basement or something. Let the survivors run around the map until the EGC is over. Personally I don't care about hatch or patrolling gates. Gens done, I go AFK until it's over.

  • Survivors bodyblocking is sometimes the correct play and part of their agency. The killer chasing the freshly unhooked survivor is sometimes necessary to secure a win.

Not huge on dumbing down the game and removing options from players.

  • Didn't they also get rid of the fog?

Swamp is filled with tall grass, and scratchmarks don't show on tall grass (or anything else that doesn't have collision). Scratchmarks are also bugged on objects with holes or gaps, like this giant net on the wall, these wooden planks above the giant net on the wall, and these stairs that have gaps in between them.

    This is horrid

  • Look at the patch notes and honestly say that. Come on.

  • Pretty good way to make me drop the game.
