  • You could pretend like you're playing ranked. Give yourself a number that goes up every time you win. Same thing.

  • Is this an AI generated post? It's all over the place

  • I think this topic has kinda been discussed to death but an idea occured to me. In the discussions about accessibility the survivor experience is first and foremost.

What about killers who are hard of hearing? What about the perks that negate the audio cues those players already struggle with? Audio is more important to killers than survivors. What if survivors had chucky-esque footsteps you could see behind walls? What if your aura was briefly shown every time line of sight was broken, to help out people who have a hard ring hearing?

There's an intersection of accessibility and balance to be navigated. The truth is that not everything is for everyone. If I had severe arachnophobia I wouldn't boot up spider simulator 2024 and expect it to change to accommodate me. Audio cues are a huge part of this game and eliminating then in the name of accessibility changes the game completely.

  • I've been advocating for this forever. There's only like two killers that can even make good use of it.

”grrr I’ve absolutely destroyed the surviviors and they have no other way to win, so they play for a stallmate, nerf hiding in a stealth horror game🤬🤬”

I'm fairly certain stealth isn't part of the description of the game anywhere.

  • It feels clunky but I understand why they did it. The hunt decay timer feels worse imo.

  • @BugReporterOnly said:

The game times out at an hour so they aren't taking the game hostage sadly. It use to be 3 hours. I hope ypu reported them but 30 mins won't do anything people will just hide to time out the game at that point and not play the game as they should. Thry might need to rework how crows work to avoid this or after a certain time elapses where no one is doing anything the map starts to shrink and forces them more in the open.

The survivors not touching the objective is in fact holding the game hostage and is reportable.

Except camping for the extra hookstate is part of the strategy he was talking about, and that's getting nerfed now, so clearly it's not intended to be this strong. And if it becomes completely unviable, then it's evidently not intended at all.

When survivors are greeding gens it's good play to secure the hook state. Giving survivors extra time to reset doesn't mean it is unintended. It just means they want to make it easier. It's not a black and white thing. If they didn't want people to do it they would simply make it impossible.

  • @Firellius said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3785224#Comment_3785224

This always gets trotted out whenever a change is made people don't like.

But did it occur to you that perhaps this change is also intended?

EDIT: Also, 'if it weren't intended, it would be impossible' is a really dumb take in general, on account of emergent gameplay, bugs and glitches. Especially in DBD.

What are you talking about? I don't care about the ten second thing. It's fine. My issue is with you claiming that wraith player just playing the game is somehow playing in an unintended fashion. That's flat out wrong. It seems like you just want killers to not have options or play how you want. They're just playing hit and run. It's hardly a bug or glitch or whatever. It's a play style that's been in the game for six years or whatever. If it were unintended they would have somehow made injuring different survivors impossible. Which is ridiculous.

  • @Firellius said:

the issue with “haha camping is le bad so your entire argument is actually also le bad” is that camping, when used correctly, is a valid strategy

We've heard this for so many years and it's still broken AF and awful for gameplay.

Camping got a hard buff back in 6.1, now it's getting reined back in a bit.

example, i play wraith, one of the best strats you can do is hook someone, leave the hook and injure multiple people hopefully the entire team, and come back to force 2nd stage, since nobody can trade if everybody is injured. increased hook stages will hard nerf this strat because survivors will have even more time to reset and prevent you from pushing 2nd. i’m arguing that this strat does not need a nerf, it already has counterplay as any decent player already knows.

This specific tactic also got buffed a while ago with the medkit nerfs, so you're still way better off than you were. Also, I wouldn't call ten seconds a hard nerf. But hey, if you really can't deal with this strat anymore after this change, maybe play the game as intended, eh?

The person you're talking to is playing the game as intended. If it weren't intended, it would be impossible.

  • Unpopular opinion but when accessibility starts heavy nerfing stuff in the game it probably doesn't need to be there. The visual TR on sadako is bad enough.

Do you even disagree with mirrored illusion and dance with me/deception, if yes why? Those changes would not do much in my opinion.

No because they just buffed mirrored illusion. It should be a fun perk, not an actually strong one. I'm also not a fan of impairing killers' ability to track survivors.

Yeah who needs bloodpoints or other stuff if u can bring a sac ward every game to prevent a potential map offering from the opposite site. Also I don't want to determine what map it will be either, I just want it to be random, like it's supposed to be. Map offerngs just have way to much of an impact right now

Yeah. You bring perks and offerings to support stuff you want to do or deny your opponents. Endgame build with hatch offering. Chest build. It's like everything else.

Make map offerings iri or something. They're fine. It's fun to outplay a team on a map of their choosing.

  • @fussy said:

I agree, these stupid cooldowns should be removed on all killers. If strongest killers are fine without it, then weaker will be even more fine.

I was reading the wiki to see what the cooldown on mage hand is and saw Fly starts out on cooldown. Did not know that. It's insane that vecna of all killers can't cross a third of the map at the beginning of the game but Billy can scream his way across the whole thing in half the time.

I don't understand why you're being confrontational when I used the same argument you said for killer builds.

That's nice and dandy that you like to run aura reading perks on Doctor, but if you really like to use aura reading perks that directly affects Distortion users, go ahead and use Gearhead.

When you mentioned BBQ and Chili and Lethal Pursuer, which ARE in the top ten killer perks for KILLER and say that you want to use "interesting perks" that are undoubtedly META perks, I don't know why you're getting upset about a NON-META perk such as Distortion with it having less than 10% usage rate.

If you don't care about survivor gameplay, then don't use Distortion as an argument that it *harms* killer builds when you're using (#3 BBQ and Chili ((16.03%)) and #4 Lethal Pursuer ((also 16.03%)) as YOUR example.

It sounds like you want NO counterplay to your aura reading builds other than just hide in a locker or go in a different direction but what's the counterplay to Lethal Pursuer??

Usage rate do not tell the whole story. BBQ and lethal are good on huntress, by far the most popular killer. That skews the rate of usage by itself. Knockout has a pick rate around unrelenting. Is it problematic? Yes. Should it be reworked? Also yes. Trying to defend unhealthy stuff by pick rates is a one dimensional argument. Means very little. You've got this fixation on usage rates because it's easy. Point at number. Make argument. Ignore context.

Like I just told you, gearhead by itself, will not deplete distortion tokens vs standard terror radius killer. I've tested this. Assuming the survivors in my lobbies were being honest they rarely ran out of tokens.

Of course I care about survivor gameplay. What I don't care about is constantly equating one sides stuff with another sides stuff. It's like people screeching for respawning pallets because hooks respawn. It's like comparing Zanshin with Windows when they obviously do very different things because each side interacts with the same information differently.

I don't want distortion to not exist. I've gotta be one of the only people who used distortion when it didn't regenerate tokens. What I want is for it to not be infinite perk denial vs standard terror radius killers. Make tokens regenerate slower. Make them only regenerate in/out of chase. Give one per gen/unhook/successful heal action. Whatever doesn't punish killers for existing on the map.

  • I agree about wiretap being 33% but basically nothing else. There's no need for consistency between wiretap and blast mine.... They're completely different perks that do different things.

  • @CautionaryMary said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3784749#Comment_3784749

If you want to burn through Distortion tokens fast enough, run Gearhead.

Gearhead has no issues burning through Distortion tokens as even experienced players cannot consistently hit great skill checks to avoid Distortion stacks to replenish.

Your argument that it ruins killer build variety can be the same argument towards survivor build variety as well.

Like I've mentioned in my previous post, Distortion only rose in popularity due to the introduction of aura reading perks and it isn't in the top ten most used perks.

I'm saying this as a person who doesn't really use Distortion since they've mentioned that they were going to tweak the perk, the only time that I actively use Distortion is when I'm playing with my duo so I'm not necessarily biased in this area.

EDIT: I was in a game, so I couldn't complete my thoughts.... But if you want to run gen regression because it's more reliable than aura reading perks, you're well in your regard to do that. I highly doubt that you're running into 2 Distortion players in a single game that prevents the game from you finding survivors. In your example, as I have played Doctor, I don't know why you would necessarily equip aura reading perks on him as he has pretty much on demand information due to his static blast.

I run aura perks on doctor..... because it's fun. I run alien instinct because it's fun, not because it's good. It's still nice to get a modicum of value from my dumb gimmick builds. Until it feels frustrating because a single perk disables them.

Gearhead by itself will not disable distortion vs a standard terror radius killer. You'd need at least two other aura perks to do that.

It's not in the top ten but it's up there with kindred and we'll make it, notably good perks. You're gonna see at least one in the majority of your games. If you had a game with 2-3 it's absolutely crippling to aura perks.

Finally yeah, you're right. I can keep running stall perks. But I'd really like to get reliable value on more interesting perks. That's not possible with distortion in it's current iteration. Again harming perk diversity. Distortion is bad for the game. Frankly I don't care about "b-b-but survivors!!!" That's a different topic entirely.

Finally finally I never said it ruins build variety. I said it harms it. You can still run aura perks on stealth killers or ones with substandard terror radii and get good results. It'd be nice if more killers could get value out of the perks though. Increasing build variety.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/424475/a-suggested-rework-for-distortion-that-would-make-it-more-interactive-for-everyone

I personally don't understand the fuss about Distortion given that it actually has went down in usage rate (it's 8.73% usage rate at the moment on Nightlight.gg) and no longer in the top ten most used perks.

I do believe that the perk had an uptick in usage rate when killers would bring aura reading perks, especially because the last few killers we've had (Xenomorph, Chucky, and Vecna) all three came with aura reading perks with the introduction of Ultimate Weapon, Friends 'Til The End, and Weave Attunement.

I think if Distortion does get some nerf, there needs to be more counterplay to your aura being read other than just get better at looping and I say that as a person who can loop at tiles.

Dead By Daylight needs to allow different playstyles and even though there's the idea floating around that Distortion players do nothing but hide all game, I don't find that to be the case in the games that I play. People will rat and do nothing even if Distortion didn't exist and just because you have an aura reading perk doesn't mean you need to ALWAYS get value from it. There's three other survivors in the game and it's already easy enough to find them in plain sight (the game isn't dark by any stretch of the imagination) or finding scratch marks.

The problem with distortion is that it negates aura reading perks entirely and pushes killers toward more reliable perks.

Let's say I'm playing doctor with lethal and BBQ. Vs a distortion player this is a permanent disabling of two or my perks. There's no way I can burn through the tokens fast enough to actually use my perks on a distortion user. It only takes a couple of games of having your perks not work against 1-4 members of a team for you to say screw it and switch to surge, pain res, overcharge, whatever. Stuff you know will at least do something.

It hurts build variety and perk diversity. The only time I've ever ran out of distortion tokens is vs a wraith with a few aura perks or a huntress with a full aura build. God help you if you want to run a weak aura perk by itself like alien instinct. There's a good chance you load into a game where it straight up doesn't work and will never work on half the team.

I don't hate Skull Merchant in any way - i like her a lot - and i think most of the hate the community has for her is baseless but i see some issue in her kit that i which the devs could adress so everyone can have a nice time while she is the match.

You.... You can turn off the drones? She has to physically walk over to set them up. There are four survivors. It's pretty trivial to keep her occupied while gens get pressured. She doesn't have any mobility.

I don't think there really is that much of a grind anymore, though?

Depends if you talk about survivor, or killers. Even more if you want to play both...

There is huge grind on killers. Killers need different perks and most players don't want to play 1 build for tens of hours.

DBD with all content is very expensive game, with huge grind on top of it, which is impossible to skip. There is not many games with "double" grind. Usually it's one or the other.

I don't think tier 3 perks should unlock, but definitely tier 1, so I am not forced to spend currency (BP) on characters I don't even want to play.

Why does someone need all the content?

I mentioned bam specifically for dealing with shack as that is often one of the stronger areas survivors on a a lot of maps.

Yeah but it's not the only God pallet and it's not the only strong area in any given map. In some maps it's not even the strongest.

  • @Linkdouken said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3783923#Comment_3783923

Yeah, I don't doubt that it could be insanely strong when used by top survivors but I do feel like the strength of god pallets is slightly overexaggerated for the skill level of the majority of the player base especially when there are some strong perks to ensure these pallets are dealt with quickly (like spirit fury and bamboozle to block shack window)

I mean it just kinda sucks for the rest of us that aren't amazing 😆

Spirit fury works against decent survivors exactly once. Then it's pre drop city. To make it actually good you have to pair it with endurance. You're out two info/stall perks for two perks entirely countered by pre dropping. It's a very very bad value proposition. It's not even "top survivors", it's anybody with a quarter of a brain.

Bamboozle has little to do with god pallets. It's not doing a hell of a lot for you in Gideon or anywhere where a god pallet connects to another tile either.

  • @SoGo said:

This could work, however, as everyone else mentioned, a large drawback would be needed.

The fun part is, we already have a template for similar perks: The Invocations.

    A simple concept from me:

    Invocation: Fragile Rebirth

When in the basement near the circle, press the Ability Button to begin the Invocation.

Invocations take 60 seconds. Other Survivors will see your aura during this and can join the ongoing interaction.

    Once the Invocation is completed:

    • Your aura is revealed to the killer for 35/30/25 seconds.
    • You gain 1 charge of Fragile Rebirth.

If a survivor joins the Invocation process for more than 20 seconds, they will also get a charge upon the completion of the Invocation.

Completing the invocation disables the perk for all survivors.

Fragile Rebirth becomes active when near a broken pallet or breakable door. Pressing the Active Abillity Button causes the pallet/breakable wall to rebuild itself.

So you gotta go tunnel this person out ASAP or else they're going to make the game hell for any killer without antiloop?

  • I've been using it with dead hard lately and yeah - it's really strong.

Fortunately it's an easy giveaway for dead hard though. If they're not making noises, very likely they have it.

  • Isn't this just rusty shackles hag with like ten extra steps?

  • Different perks have different value for different killers. You'd not run darkness revealed on anyone but huntress or trickster for example. I'm all ears on anyone but pyramid Head or unknown. A point buy system doesn't work because the killers all do different stuff in different ways.

Ignoring the bizzare power ranking system. Who determines that? By what criteria? Many killers jump up and down drastically in power just depending on addons. Are those figured in as well? It's a huge development sink for dubious benefit.

  • You just have to eat the stun on one of them unless the survivor is playing poorly.

  • Only if there's a better way to temporarily disable them.

  • @Simp4Doctor said:

Remove the dc penalty, but make it so that if survivors ragequit they lose all their blood points and their prestige level resets by -1 so if they are p100 they will become p99 and so on.

Oh no, not bloodpoints and prestige.

    Anyway,

  • @Ioden said:

As an aside, an interesting fact/pattern I'm seeing is; A Skull Merchant's hacked drone is disabled for 45 seconds as well. So that's drone, 45s, Freddy cooldown 45s, Bipod disabled 45s. The Skull Merchant's Claw Trap also lasts 45 seconds. After Skull Merchant deploys a drone, her power cooldown is 10 seconds, the same cooldown as the upcoming Dredge change on its teleport. So a potential 10 second teleport cooldown for Singularity is not so implausible.

A generator worked on by a single survivor takes 90 seconds to do, a multiple of 45. An EMP unaided takes 100 seconds to be made (100 charges at 1 c/s), or 25 seconds ( 4 c/s) if manually sped up. To put that into perspective, the time it takes to create an EMP is, at best, almost twice the time it takes to cleanse two totems (28 seconds; 14 seconds x2). Not counting the time it takes to find and run over to the EMP machine, even if it is highlighted.

Now the argument could be made, well have a dedicated survivor pumping out EMPs. This would be in the same manner as a survivor deactivating Cenobites cube. After that is successful, do you want to guess how long the cube is deactivated for? Yes, 45 seconds. I'd imagine 45 seconds will come up a lot if I delve into other killers. So it seems that the general rule is, for certain powers, countering it, gives survivors breathing space of 45 seconds, half the time to do a generator currently.

The issue is, Merchant drones and Lament Configuration, while it does take some valuable time and attention of survivors away from generators, they can be interacted with and disabled quickly. While to deal with Bipods and keep up with their creation, either on the map or used as a chase power, survivors need to spend more time to counter it than it takes to reactivate it.

    (Continued)

They aren't going to add a ten second cooldown on slipstream because that would kill singu. Expecting different killers to adhere to the same numbers is ridiculous. They all do different stuff.

  • You think people won't optimize 2v8? You think they weren't at the end of it? Please.

    Define "Punish"

Inflict a penalty or sanction on (someone) as retribution for an offence, especially a transgression of a legal or moral code.

    Define "Rule"

One of a set of explicit or understood regulations or principles governing conduct or procedure within a particular area of activity.

Are we saying that adding a rule to game for the improvement of the game is a punishment to the players?

Rules get added to games/sports all the time to enhance the gameplay of the game and make it more fair/engaging for all participants, such as the offside rule in Football, or the obstruction rule in Rugby.

Expanding the ruleset of a game is not a punishment, it is expanding the ruleset. The question asked in this thread is: does this rule benefit or hinder the game?

Not letting people use the perks they want because they are playing with their friends is a punishment. I hope this helps.

just cause you don’t see it or it’s not prevelant in the DBD forum threads, doesn’t mean it isn’t a thing. A lot of people complain about this. It’s a known thing.

A lot of people complain about a lot of stuff that basically never happens. For a minute there were constant threads about people using bond and empathy to lead killers to survivors maliciously. That's not really a thing and not worth the resources it'd take to address it. Just like writing and implementing the code required to do this on top of debugging if simply isn't worth the effort.

And it's not merely my experience, it's my experience multiplied by four. I don't see it happen to my teammates. I don't see killers doing it. It's just one of those things that happens every few hundred games, somebody gets upset and kneejerk posts about it instead of just reporting and requeing and treating it like the non issue it is.

  • "The community"? I've seen this like..... Maybe twice since I started playing around the release of blight.

It's already reportable. It's already bannable. It's not with the suite of bugs that would surely accompany bespoke code required to tackle this thing that happens once every few hundred games.

easier said than done, there are only so many times in a chase you can break LOS and that don't involve an action that negates your distance (crouching), staying still behind an object). Sometimes, the tiles around you are just not conducive to losing LOS and there's nothing to do but hold W which he then just spams teleport

pre drop? teleport and break in overclock

greed the pallet? teleport and at best he breaks the pallet in overclock once dropped or you eventually drop and he times the teleport right so it breaks anyway

use emp? just shoot anywhere ahead of you or around you and tag you again. Map is usually ridden with pods anyway so it really doesn't matter

maybe with a coordinated team it's easier, in solo q simply using an emp is not the savior it's made out to be

would not call him OP but the spam teleport play style is just stupid and unfortunately that's mostly the way he's played

Yeah, because that's how you play him. It's not a "play style" more than huntress throwing a hatchet or trapper setting traps is a "play style". You use a killers power.

  • Say it with me class:

Is… that a suggestion..? Or something coming???

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3781011#Comment_3781011

Yes, in theory you can pick up an emp. But when you "destroy" his ability to tp, all he has to do is shoot a pod somewhat ahead of where you are going, and bam, you're back to square one again with no EMP.

The retagging thing is not a change that is happening. Merely a poor suggestion. If you had to retag a survivor every time you slipstreamed he'd be the most tedious killer in the game. So much busywork.

The EMP delays the hit and lets you reposition to where he's going to have a harder time tagging you. Walls exist. Use line of sight blockers. You're never going to run a singularity for five gens, he's a very chase oriented killer. But like every killer the goal is to extend the chase as long as possible. EMPs are an important tool in this regard.

Finally if you don't like X killer so much then play as them. Eventually you'll go against survivors that spank you and they'll teach you what to do as survivor to beat that killer. That's how I learned to play vs knight and legion. Instead of expecting the killer to be kneecapped to meet your expectations come at it as an opportunity to learn.

1 … 11 12 13 14 15 … 27
