The idea of combating the evil within by being altruistic is really cool, but I don't get how this works? It's not like you can do that stuff mid chase so you don't get moried.
-
You could probably just truncate it down to sth at that point. Go further. Be a pioneer. Turn something into a . or just an s.
-
These posts that say everyone knows this or that are really annoying to me.
I like repairing generators. It's relaxing. It's part of why I switch to survivor after playing killer for a while. You just look around and push the button. That's nice.
Dunno about your idea but different people like different things and matter of factly stating stuff is just wrong.
-
I don't care about 2v8 and it's killing the normal mode. Please ditch it
-
Humans optimize everything to perform a task well. The task in games is winning the game. Expecting everyone to just.... Not try is absurd. It's a pointless thing to lament, nobody was just gonna run around acting like they don't know what to do after they figure out what to do.
Especially those dastardly killer mains. We all know they're the problem, right boys?
-
I had a similar thought. While BHVR picks weird and typically mediocre submissions, one open to the broader community will only pander to sex appeal and popular killers. I think that's a mistake.
-
I love it when an idea married theme and function. This one is really good without making it gamebreaking.
-
I don't care about 2v8, but I do think the classes and killer changes are actually a very clever way to do the game mode.
-
You don't have to apologize for this corporatist garbage. BHVR has enough resources to sell male skins even if they're less popular. Not everything I'm the world has to come down to nickles and dimes. It's boring and it's gross.

Well now that they've opened the door to neon ghost Fox tails I'm sure we'll get more gaudy stuff that clashes with the rest of the game now

I don't really have problem with third health state, but it would be definitely good to make it more relevant.
I liked the idea to involve zombies, so they are more likely to detect you and walk faster towards if you, if you are infected.
My main issue with Nemesis are his trash add-ons.
I don't like zombies being a bigger part of his power. Being chased around a gen and painstakingly leading them to a pallet is very tedious. Assuming there is a pallet. If there's not you just have to find another gen to work on.
Maybe if you could disable them for a time without a pallet or item.

Just because you didn't have it happen to you (you say you only experienced a failed slugging) doesn't mean it isn't an issue, and it doesn't need to be a huge issue or a big problem, it is enough that it is an issue that can happen and does happen. People usually don't see something as a problem until it happens to them, then you see that something should be done to prevent it.
It genuinely barely ever happens but base unbreakable has huge gameplay ramifications that aren't worth dealing with.

Apparently, you didn't have faced on 3 Hillbillies in a row on Autohaven or 3 Blight/Knights in a row on Coldwind farms. Or 3 Nurses on MacMillan's.
No, but I've faced four weskers in row. No exaggeration.
I also never thought they should have longer queue times or that I'm a special boy who should be exempt from the horror of playing vs the same killer a few times. I just played the matches and it was not a big deal.

All offerings are a gamble, included sacrificial ward.
I don't want to derail your topic but:'to get a random map and not be sent to the same 5 realms everytime ?'
And what about to face up the same killer 5 times in a row ? because it happens sometimes, so survivors bring maps offerings to compensate for that & killer brings sacrificial ward (even in these 2 cases, you have a minor chance that not works).
Maps are not people. Killers have actual, breathing humans behind them. Your comparison is nonsense.
Make maps iri or something. Sac wards would be more common if the bloodweb wasn't clogged up with green offerings.

I see slugging in 2v8 only on forum. I always have some streams on background and I still didn't see a single massive slugging fest. Same with my games. Only when 3 survivors left and some killers decide to slug to find another survivors. Not even sure if it's possible to slug 8 people, not even talk about maps size and amount of resources.
It's the next big survivor target.

I like finding people. The macro gameplay gives the game a lot of texture and just chasing all the time is stressful. The downtime is important. I also never would have gotten invested in this game without perks. Trying different load outs on different killers is half the fun for me.

The Nurse, Blight and Hillbilly can be considered the strongest killers in the average game.
Nurse, Blight and Hillbilly are not the strongest killers in the average game. If you mention average, you need to look at a stat that shows the average. Here are some stats:
- https://new.reddit.com/r/deadbydaylight/comments/1arg1o4/developer_update_stats/
- https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/350586/stats-kill-rate-by-killer-and-mmr-september-2022#latest
Asides from Hillbilly, these killers have never been at the top of kill rates in an average match. In fact, Nurse has the lowest kill rate on average. These killers are only S tier when played by the best not the average player.
You're conflating winrate with strength and kill rates with balance. Straight numbers don't illustrate the picture accurately.
That being said OP's suggestions are nuts. No thank you

Cool. Do survivors gain a hook stage or immediately die if two gens pop too fast?
The survivor exceptionalism is ridiculous

Why should we not have that? SWF already have that information, and this perk could actually be used in solo q to help teammates if you changed it like that.
No they don't? Swf don't have infallible location data for where everyone is at all times. Watch any given video and you'll see head on users in swf mess up.

They don't have favorites? So they actually changed balancing and go for fair 50% escape rate?
Oh they don't. So in fact they do have favorites
You can be as breathlessly angry about this fictional injustice as you want, but logic doesn't bear it out.
Employ a little deductive reasoning. The game consists mostly of survivors. That's factual, game doesn't work without most players at any given time being survivors. There's a contingent of people that only play this or that side, of which there are naturally more survivors than killers due to the inherent population imbalance.
Following?
Most of the money the game makes comes from selling cosmetics. You want to be selling your product to the largest number of people possible. That's survivors because they are the majority of people playing your game.
In light of behavior interactive wanting to pay their employees and continue existence as a corporate entity, why would they ever, ever do something as petty and stupid as pick sides in the video game they make? Your image of devs in a room twirling their mustaches and playing favorites because they are out to get you is absurd. Comical. They gave you the kill rate data and statements you're so fixated on. Why would they publish that if it illustrated some ridiculous bias? Think about it. There's no emotional component, it's just game development.

I am not doing gens for 120-130 seconds. Especially with the amount of regression perks killer have.
I lose most of my games anyway, because of how many bad players I am getting because of MMR. It's issue for SWF aswell, if we are playing on discord servers we don't get 4 good players in a team most of the time, SWF players come in different skill levels too and I want to remind you that 1 bad player in a team is enough to lose a game for all surviviors.
Like, what regression perks? They've all been nerfed. Killers could have fifty regression perks but if they don't do anything it does not matter

And it means nothing. DEVS WANT killers to win 50% more then survivors (40% escape rate vs 60% → that's 150% the chance survivor gets). No matter what tools or what you want to consider - the result is pretty clear. Devs take favorites and love killers 50% more then survivors.
(and yes, we can go thru all the changes step by step - but that's just stand-in for the real issue here and the final result is just undeniable. They got their favorite's side 60% kill rate)
They don't have favorites. The devs are not out to get you. They just make the game how they want.

It's not gatekeeping if there's nothing stopping you from simply getting better at the videogame, get over it
Is it gatekeeping that huntress doesn't have autoaim? Be serious instead of just falling back on this term "gatekeeping" over and over again without ever making an actual point
You're gatekeeping. You learned singularity when he was difficult and want to keep him inaccessible because you feel proprietary toward him. It's backwards thinking. Huntress is very obviously different from singularity.
I didn't play anybody except singularity for like three months. I learned how to play him and guess what? Not as hard as people say. He should be more accessible to everybody though, because he's such a fun and flexible killer.

I mean, I don't see how?
Maybe if everyone's still alive at one gen remaining, but at that point you've already been performing poorly and slowdown isn't exactly going to save you. Plus, at worst, you're trading one generator for a dead survivor, which is a much bigger advantage.
I'm open to this being proven wrong in testing, but I genuinely feel that close games the way some people have described them aren't won by slowdown, especially not with someone dead. They're won by dismantling the team's efficiency by snowballing off a down.
Slowdown has absolutely saved me during close games with a lot of back and forth. Are you serious? Sometimes a clutch pain res is the only thing that's saved a game for me in a 3v1 where I killed a surv late in the game.
Maybe because I play mostly low tier killers with very little slowdown but I find myself in this situation more often than you'd think. One dead survivor is not always worth a completed gen if there is good progress across all remaining generators. If the last two gens are again, between 50-80% and there's three survivors left it's well within the realm of possibility for them up complete them vs a killer without good mobility. Your thinking is too binary; you're imagining a completed or fresh gen when there are many states in-between. Saying my perk shouldn't enable a comeback in that circumstance is unfair.
-
Ironically I win games way easier with singularity than legion and I have many more hours on legion than singu.
Anyway you gotta get over the gatekeeping thing bud. It's embarrassing. Let singularity be accessible.
-
Sure, if it's only when someone dies at like 5-4 gens. Oftentimes there's a couple of gens with 50-89% progress that are basically done and regressing them is crucial to winning the game.
-
@KA149108 said:
Killers would still camp if each gens took 5 minutes each to do. That's why you see camping and tunneling at 0 gens done. You don't need all survivors dead before all gens are done. You just need to kill the survivors before they leave the match. The difference is applying proper pressure and not going after one person sitting by the hook. The best games are when it's close on each side, not the killer having 3 survivors dead before anything gets done and it shouldn't be encouraged or rewarded which is currently is.
The best of every PVP title are close games. Unfortunately it's impossible to make every, or even most games close. People are better or worse against different killers and sometimes you just play poorly. Multiply that by 5 for everyone in the match. It's gonna be inconsistent.
To the bland complaints in the thread: tunneling doesn't happen nearly as often as you pretend it does and when it does, it's necessary to win. Sorry. People hate being told they're wrong and everyone that complains about this, without exception, either have a very very broad definition of what tunneling is and are suffering from negativity bias. I'm not even sure what camping is at this point. It's inefficient play for most killers.
-
It's a live service game. Most of that stuff is either being iterated on, not a problem or is just unfixable. Like "toxicity". What even is that, objectively? Do you expect BHVR to preemptively ban people that might be rude to you? It doesn't have a solution because it's a human thing and humans are gonna do human stuff.
-
What about survivors breathing? I'd consider that as important as all the other stuff.

Gift of Pain has TWO effects, and the Mangled it gives is the weaker of the two.
Resurgence in this hypothetical would make the perk a little weaker, but only kind of. Someone with Resurgence wants to heal and they want to heal quickly… which means they get hit with the repair speed debuff, the actually desirable effect for the killer, quicker as well.
Gift of pain activates the debuffs on unhook so it's the most consistent way to apply those debuffs right now. The others tend to expire on hook nowadays.
I think all the debuffs are significant. You either heal and eat the repair speed debuff or don't and be vulnerable. That's good. Without mangled and Hemorrhage you just 99 your heal and do gens.
-
@jesterkind said:
I think that's an appropriate buff for Resurgence, but not so much Solidarity, especially since it would be kind of weird and awkward to code partial immunity to Haemorrhage into that perk and full immunity would obviously be way too much.
Resurgence, in my opinion, should clear most negative status effects (at least timed ones) on unhook. It only activates twice, and so it's allowed to be strong. With that buff it could go back down to 50% and be in a great spot.
Gift of pain also only activates twice on survivors and doesn't need a nerf.
-
Commenting this to boost an incredible post. Really just super well done.
-
After all the map resources are gone, which wraith burns through faster by your own admission, uncloak is a free hit unless the survivor has sprint burst. If you're keeping survivors injured, which wraith is better at due to mobility and uncloak hits then you're pressuring 3-4 survivors by forcing resets constantly.
So if the idea is to sit in a 3 gen from the start of the game wraith is better at it. Knight can keep two survivors busy at once but cannot guarantee health states. Wraith can. Knight cannot burn through map resources more quickly than wraith, thus making the 3 gen unsafe faster. Also knight can only keep two survivors busy..... There's still two full health survivors tapping out the regression limit. Wraith is way better at this than knight.
And I just picked wraith because he's B tier. Nurse is better at it than either of them. So is blight. Wesker. Etc etc.

So instead of trying to play Knight in new ways, even if that learning process is unsuccessful or just switching to a different character, the answer is to hold games hostage? Again?
If people try new things that don't work, it'll show in kill rate stats and BHVR will be more likely to 'fix' whatever people are unhappy with. Because it's clearly unsuccessful.
If people switch killers, it'll show up in pick rate stats and BHVR will be more likely to notice.
So by holding games hostage, knight players are both boosting pick rates and kill rates, and sending BHVR the message that everything is ok.
This is the exact wrong way to go about asking for changes.
You cannot hold an entire game hostage. You get eight kicks per gen.

If you're good its not unrealistic especially when you're slugging or something. Seeing all survivors is a powerful effect tho, so ofc you wouldn't constantly be getting everyone's auras.
It's not a matter of you being good, it's a matter of the survivors being bad. You don't have any agency as to whether survivors choose to emp.

The problem is that it doesn't matter if he doesn't have a power while Jailer is chasing you; the issue is that Jailer allows him to guarantee to keep Survivors off of generators for just shy of half a minute infinitely, on top of the insanely long patrol time.
He doesn't need to full commit to downs, he can take picks and hits every now and then, chip away at resources until the entire map on the side of the 3-gen is a dead zone.
It's the same issue on-release Skull Merchant had - the Jailer changes are allowing Knights to stall games out of attrition rather than get kills and end the game. Just constant half-minute intervals where Survivors can't touch generators.
Not to mention the new Sharpened Mount addon which increases the duration of flag-spawning, and it makes it nearly impossible to escape a Jailer hunt without getting hit. It's just absurdly, impossibly long with no chance for escape.
You've gotta explain to me how this is any different than wraith doing the same thing.
-
Yes jailer can chase you for a long time. And? Knight has to do something with that or else they're just chasing as an m1 killer while half the team is on gens.
It's essentially the same thing as taking Victor hostage vs twins, which was considered optimal play. Is it worth two survivors off gens to make the killer not have a power? Absolutely. Knight has to commit to who is being chased or he's playing optimally on behalf of the survivor.
-
This sounds fine, but when do all survivors ever let themselves get infected at once?

if every guard was equally good at everything, there would be no reason to have 3 guards, just have 1 guard that does everything. i believe this what knight's skill-cieling was suppose to be but wasn't.
the negative changes didn't need to happen but it is whatever.
Having a guard that just does one thing: break a pallet is a huge waste and lowers his "skill ceiling"(ugh) by giving him less versatile options to cycle through. How about that?

Given that you can manually swap guards now sure it's a nerf when isolated but in general not really, more like a general rework. Being able to manually swap guards with only a 3 seconds cd would be stupid
Taking a cooldown and doubling it between iterations is not a "rework". It is a nerf. It does the same thing but worse.
