Nemesis so far is one of the most balanced and well designed killers we've had in a while, at least from the PTB. He is in a great spot rn to be strong but not broken.
-
I much prefer big easy to hit skill checks over breaking my finger after playing DBD for 2 days as survivor

How many times do I have to type this?
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
For God's sake, just leave Kate alone and fix what actually needs fixing in the fricking game. You don't need everyone to look like a sexed up twelve year old playing with mommy's makeup with a gentle overbite totally ready for fellatio. Stop. Just stop.
honestly I felt like they just needed to fix Nea, characters like dwight/david I think look perfectly fine and their new versions look worse and less iconic/familiar. It feels like they change it just to change it, not because it really needed fixing.

There isn't. That's just a false narrative because complaining is 'fun'.
People simply like to way way way over exagerate any small negitve thing to try and trick others into thinking its more than it is. I'm sorry you were given this false information.
Pretty sure there is, been playing since 2017 and the toxicity between the sides has only gotten worse.

Well I hope you stick around the game really needs a lot of new players to fall in love with it despite the BS it throws up at times.
I'm not new to the game over 1,000on ps4 over 1,000 on xbox series X a few hundred on Xbox one & Switch & a handful on PC before I decided my work pc just wasn't up to it.
While the current mmr isn't perfect I'm over 50 games in since it started testing again (all recorded too) & it's been probably the best match making in years for me personally.
When the killer scored a 4k they all pretty much deserved it & when we've had a 4 man escape we've generally pretty much deserved it.
I think out of all the games only 1 a trapper was clearly out of their depth & never had a chance.
While I don't discount your own experiences or that of others that have a similar view it should at least be noted that those experiences are ones many of us have endured for years long before mmr.
It's never going to be perfect, it might not even be all that functional but personally I can't see what else they can do that's better, at least from past experience.
Of course maybe hearing all that you'll just decide it's not for you & that's fair enough but like I said hopefully you & a good number of the new players jumping in for resident evil will stick around in theory the bigger the player base the more data & more fair mmr will become
I'm glad it works for you, as someone with about 100 hours and rank 15 killer, I have only gone against red ranks (incuding multlple rank 1s) in EVERY GAME for about 15 games. If this is the new MMR, then I'm not going to play this game anymore.
-
seriously... I'm in yellow/brown ranks and have only fought reds (multiple rank 1/2s) and low purple ranks... nobody above rank 8.

Today I went into spirit match man I had iron will she had stridor I tried everything reversed pallet to make her think I'm on other side of pallet, crouching slowly to not see my scratch marks, run in random areas to hopefully make her lose me nothing worked spirit does need change not big nerf just a fix
well that's because stridor will make it so that you still make noise even with iron will, stridor will make the 100% breathing go to 150% then the iron will takes it down to 50%, so you are half as quiet with iron will against stridor. stridor doesn't actually increase the killer's hearing of things, it increases the actual volume of the survivor.

I also just spent the past 3 hours, I am a rank 20 Killer and faced in one game a red One, 2 Purple 4's, and an eight.
Other games I haven't seen a game where the Survivors were beneath rank 8 Purple, minus one game were I had a; 17, 18,16, 19 which was the best game I had....still lost as I am still learning killer but it wasn't a tea bagging slaughter over in 3 minutes with 3k points or 9k points earned.
I heard from my friends that have been playing for 3 years or when ever this game came out, that every time you reset the ranks new players get screwed.
This isn't a rank reset though those happen monthly and do suck for a few days, this is a new MMR system that I really hope they don't implement if it's this bad.
-
All I've fought is purely red ranks as someone who is rank 15 killer and rank 18 survivor. I quite literally cannot win a single one of my matches because of this new MMR. If this is what you call "good", then I don't think I'll be playing this game anymore. Played like 10 matches and only saw 1-2 non-red ranks when I'm not even green rank yet. Fun.
-
I am a rank 15 killer and have only fought rank 1-3s. One game was a full game of rank 2 and 3s. I don't think I can play for the next 2 days.

Probably Deathslinger. He's really the only killer who actually puts me on edge - both aesthetic-wise and gameplay wise. His surprising stealth meaning you have to constantly be on lookout, the sheer intimidation factor he has when walking towards you, knowing you're never 100% safe from a gunshot, the pulse-pounding nature of his chases, and several other things I could mention. I might be biased because I main him, but I find him exhilarating to play against, even if he lowers my life expectancy every time. A Deathslinger that doesn't do the cheap ADS spam zoning is probably the height of DBD horror for me, and I love matches against that.
Honorable mention would go to old Bubba. Yeah, it's doubtful that he would ever catch you - but if he did, boom, it's over. You're not getting off that hook. Really brought a tension to go with how memey Bubba was back then.
I've actually never got to fight deathslinger, I quit right before he came out and haven't seen him since I came back :(
-
I don't think this really makes sense as these are things that effect gameplay... big community markets for games like tf2/csgo are for cosmetics.

I don't know if a lot of you folks have once played this game (friday 13) but in this game, they added a cool voice chat mechanic: you were able to hear all other survivors at the moment they got the talkie-walkie. Those who had it could be heard by those who had it too and vice-versa. Otherwise, you needed to be close enough to other survivors
Furthermore, if killer is close to survivors who are talking, he can hear them.
This mechanic was pretty cool IMO and I don't know about implementing it in DBD? With talkie-walkies to find in the map and the killer could hear survivors: that could fix strong SWF squads (of course discord parties and in-console parties wouldn't allow this) but I think this could be a good way to add something to the game, plus that could help some solo survs, and nobody with a talkie-walkie would be forced to talk if they don't want to, but could hear what others say and use it in their advantage.
Killer would need to be in a certain radius of talking survs to hear them, no matter what.
What do you guys think? Could it be possible to do? I want to hear your opinions about that :)
Maybe for a limited time event, but seeing as this community has been "evolving" for years with no voice chat, it'd most likely be super toxic. I think it kinda worked for Friday as it released with the mechanic.
-
The issue of the imbalance between killer/survivor isn't the base game itself, but rather the survivor perks. They are generally much more OP than killer's best perks and sometimes totally negate the way a killer should play. If the game had no perks it'd be much more balanced.
-
They already said they don't want a killer that disguises as a survivor in any way.

Doctor is probably the most frightening.
He has a restraining headset that forces his and mouth eyes open and wires are sticking out of him. But he doesn't seem to care because he is so committed to killing meat that he looks through it. (Let's not forget that in his lore it says that COLD WAR ERA CIA was too disturbed by what he was doing to really look into it.)
Trickster is also creepy because of how realistic he is and how gruesome his killings were.
Someone did a mockup of what Doctor looked like before the "corruption" the entitiy did after he died, it's really creepy tbh

Is it too much to ask for these add-ons to be reworked? They essentially remove any counterplay to The Trapper. Equipping add-ons of any kind - even of ultra rarity - shouldn't equate to 'easy wins'. (And before someone accuses me of being a filthy survivor main: I play both sides and advocate for balance. Such as, I also want the Trapper to have at least the Trapper Sack as base kit. I also want him to have an easier time collecting traps throughout the match.)
Starting with the Bloody Coil: this add-on presents a lose/lose/lose situation to the healthy survivor. Even if you choose not to disarm a trap to save your health state, you forego being able to be chased through the area. You further risk a teammate stepping into the armed trap. On top of all this, you aren't made aware the Bloody Coil is in play until you're actually injured by it. You have know way of knowing if it was simply a longer disarm time add-on or the Bloody Coil until it's too late. Bogus. This could instead give the mangled and hemorrhage status effects to injured survivors who disarm it or are caught in it.
Moving onto the Iridescent Stone: this add-on allows way too much territory control for The Trapper. Simply put any number of traps around a given area, and the survivors can't do anything to get in or out of there. Once all the traps are set where The Trapper wants (and even the occasional untouched trap catching a survivor), this add-on makes disarming traps unbearable and futile for the rest of the match. Instead this add-on should just automatically reset traps stepped in by survivors or something. It shouldn't play the game for the killer.
Even more ridiculous is when these add-ons are combined together. You're essentially forced to play injured and accept your fate of either stepping in a trap or going down, no matter where you go on the map. Please consider changing these.
Ah yes, let's make the only things that make the worst killer in the game viable be changed. Good idea. And they aren't really "opressive", both of them are very niche and can be really strong in specific scenarios. I would consider something like iridescent head huntress or even just spirit/nurse no add-ons in general to still be much stronger, even if you have both trapper iridescent add-ons.
Unless he could carry more than 1 trap base, and if his traps had better places they spawned, then MAYBE these add-ons would be strong, But right now they're super situational. Most default trap placements are super weak so he still has to pick up and replace them, wasting tons of time, and it isn't hard to keep on disabling them. And if he has both add-ons, then just play against him like a legion where you don't heal and he's just a basic m1 killer.
Then again, if a killer has 2 iridescent add-ons, I would hope they would be somewhat strong, right?

So, being a psychic and knowing that you go against a Hag is counterplay? Or do you consider being lucky counterplay when you grab a Flashlight out of a Chest?
And crouching does not really matter - if the Hook is full of Traps, you either have to run, which triggers the Traps or you have to crouch, which allows the Hag to come back.
if the hag is camping from far away like people say she is, it won't take long to crouch out of the radius of the traps if they're right under the hooks.. maybe a few extra seconds? A killer with low base move speed can't walk across the map that fast
-
I'm a rank 18 survivor and went against a rank 4 nurse, don't think I'm gonna play for 2 days lol

If you're constantly getting told that your ideas are dumb, I don't think it's just "haha killer mains bad" and maybe you should think more about them before posting them? I can't take a suggestion seriously when the first sentence insults half of the player base of the video game for no reason.
-
Just make his bag add-ons basekit, it's a super easy to implement fix and it will make him actually playable before 3-4 gens are already done. He will still be hard to play properly and probably not that strong, but I don't think any killer should basically HAVE to have an add-on to be playable.

My problem with this is ya never know what could happen in a match. We had a game where a freddy decimated my 4 man and killed two of us off at 3 gens left. Me and the other player knew our death was probably certain but we wouldn't go down fighting. Fortunately the map was the game. He chased me for a gen proc then her for another then when we were at the last gen i got it done right as he downed her and she had adrenaline and distracted him long enough for us to get out. Youd be surprised.
Yeah survivors and killers can turn around a match, for examples for Killers, nearly all of Otzdarva's trapper matches end up with him losing multiple gens but then somehow gets 4 downs in literally under a minute because of his set up. And the survivors most likely thought "wow this is gonna be an easy win"

The problem with the iridescent stone is that it promote a set and forget playstyle and if you want value out of your traps you want to be moving them. I don't think this will be very good for new players to trapper when learning him.
The main issue with trapper is the time wasted with moving them, it's more of a convivence thing. Right now I imagine new trappers simply don't pick up most of their traps, and if they do then they probably get gen rushed.
-
I remember they used to let you use the retired moonlight offerings only in custom games, but after checking recently it seems they totally removed those from even custom games too.
-
I think a very simple and easy to implement buff to the trapper is to make his iridescent add-on that resets his traps automatically and/or his bag add-ons baseline. His bags are basically required, and the iridescent add-on is extremely useful and makes him feel somewhat useful before 3 gens are already done.

This build covers every part of a match, the beginning, the mid and endgame. You can save stacks from PWF by picking survivors that are trapped, u can also get free stacks for it just by looking the obsession, so u can end chases faster.
I don't have pwyf or stbfl

This was something I was thinking of, it may help since trapper could possibly get screwed over early game and may need a comeback late game.

Playable, yes. Viable, no. Killers, Nurse in particular, are going to be harder if not downright unplayable if your game stutters. If you're playing survivor though, I'd say its mostly negligible. Sticking to M1 killers that don't have many lag inducing moves like Trapper, Freddy, Wraith, etc. is something you're going to have to do if you want for a playable experience.
well the thing is that the game doesn't stutter at 30 fps, but at 60 fps it will have massive lag spikes that take it down to like 25 fps and break my audio, nearly freezing the game that happen every like 20 seconds.

It's a switch after all, you have to make the game look like roblox by daylight to get stable fps
Not really, games like Fortnite and Apex pull it off well, both looking near-console like at 30 fps, it's just that DBD optimization is notoriously awful

Then we are left with the same boring old Items and a new firecracker every now and then. You can't change what audio is played, the range, or time it takes to break it if it's a perk. Making it an item will make it more malleable and useful for more situations. If the devs made it just a perk, the only thing it would do is cause noise notifications and nothing else. That's boring.
Yeah but the issue is a killer can see you holding it beforehand in the lobby, then they'd know not to fall for random noise notifications... stuff like the pebble sometimes work cuz you can't see perks that people have. And even then it only sometimes works

For me he is one of less scary killers in game. Maybe because "things at random" are not scary, just annoying. Anyone can tell you that.
And i dont think it just me, Doctor have most DC games of any killers. Play him for a while, you will see for yourself.
About "badly designed" thing. In this game you can run or hide and player cannot do any of this while playing against him. Hiding against him dont work, and that would be fine alone, but also running away will not work, because he will make any loop useless. There should be one thing or another, not both.
But i was mostly referring to overloading my screen with noise, flashes and other effects he can apply. Its just too much, waaaaaaay toooo much. Its not scary, not cool, not crazy, just annoying.
He is badly designed even if you compare him to other killers - wounds from AllKill knives will heal after a while, you can cure yourself from poison or dream at anytime, but madness from doctor will stay whole game no matter what you do.
"things at random" are one of the biggest scare factors in any horror media, actually. that's why jumpscares are so commonly used.
as for everything else, that's subjective, and from what I've seen not many people agree with you.
-
wait until this guy learns about huntress
-
because it says "survivor" and not "yourself", just look at self-care, it says heal "yourself".
most perks that work on EVERY survivor say "x on survivor (including yourself)"

Add that kit to a new og killer it would be better to do.
He would be the Legion you never had and that's a better solution for everyone.
They just need to make his fatigue duration down basekit to what you have to use add-ons for now, boom he's much better and not really annoying sometimes to play as.

Yeah.. the perk still encourages camping though even though many say it does the opposite. I didn’t say if it’s dumb or smart or good or bad..
I also never said you said it was, so idk why you're being so defensive. All I simply said was that it is the smartest thing to do in that situation as a killer.
-
@Mooks said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2253054#Comment_2253054
Never said it was wrong.
BUT maybe all 3 survs are positioned behind a gen or right next to a gen in a locker to avoid BBQ and are immediately on the gen again..
Then, most likely, the Killer will lose that gen then go away from the hook. Or they stay camping and most likely lost the whole game and the other 3 survivors. There's no way a Killer can know everything, and in general that's the smartest thing to do in that situation.
-
@Mooks said:
BBQ actually encourages camping. I have seen many killers that claim they stayed at the hook when they didn’t see the auras of all remaining survs..
That's just a smart thing to do. If the survivors aren't going to pressure you away from the hook by doing generators, their only objective, then what is the point of leaving the area at all? There is no pressure from them, and you get free pressure as they're all off generators and trying to save a single survivor.
-
Killers are already weaker than survivors, and always have been, can we give them a break once and realize how toxic Survivors are in comparison to the occasional camper? Yeah you can't play for 5 minutes but your teammates are nearly guaranteed a 3-man escape, meaning the Killer effectively lost. And the Killer most likely got nearly no bloodpoints, the only currency/objective of the game.
