I never want to see hit scan ability like this again, unless we are going to also give Pig auto-target/auto-lock Ambush and other killers it too. It just doesn't work with an asymm horror imo. This is not a team-shooter/fps environment. I don't think DBD when playing this killer, I think either Marvel Rivals or some Shonen Jump based action/shooter game released by Bandai Namco. That's where i'd expect to see it, not in DBD.

Negativity comes in all games with text chat, this is not new. Players do not need to engage with text chat if they do not want to, but there is still no reason why it cannot be made accessible to all. Interesting that you use "we" to insinuate you speak for all huh…
When the vast majority of console players you come across have their messages turned off, that's a obvious way of saying we don't want to engage with anyone, period. End of story.
-
Because we don't want it and we don't need all the negativity that comes with it. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. It's also kinda redundant with cross-progression since anyone who wants to chat probably has this on PC already, so they can just play it on PC and chat. We do have a report feature for nasty messages that works well native to console, and on top of that most people also turn off their messages because they don't want to talk to the dregs of the fog. Chat can stay on PC, we've been fine for going on a decade without it.

I feel like this killer is way too OP for several reasons and I don't mind the jumping around maps issue it's the other issues that pile on top of it that make him way too over powered
For example he can grab you through walls, solid objects and even over pallets to leave a blood mark, what's the point of even playing survivor then? There's literally no way to escape him it's impossible to loop and unless you successfully pallet stun him which has a really low success rate there's virtually nothing you can do, now you're forced to 3 man gens or get wiped near instantly, the only success I've seen is if the killer opts to purposely not mark a survivor or is generally a really bad or new player.
Another issue is that he can grab you from a mile away to blood mark you, like I have many times where this has happened but these two stand out to me, I was running literally at a distance where literally no other killer could hit me except maybe the spirit, he launches his blood mark attack I watch him at least 30m away instantly teleport to me and mark me, how am I suppose to dodge this?
This same game I was just unhooked, I ran to the open exit gate literally right next to me as I'm just about to leave literally less than a second away from escape whilst he's hooking a team mate, he flies over to the front of the door, he teleports from way beyond the exit gate doors, blood marks me which blocks the exit and I lose the game.
I'm with the others on this, how are survivors even suppose to have fun anymore? Because as a survivor I'm having next to zero fun trying to deal with this, I can't out run him the second I hear him either because he just flies across 60m of space then marks me then tunnels me till I'm down and hooked and proceeds to the next player.
If he wasn't able to hit over pallets, through walls and solid objects or had like a 10 second cooldown on blood marking after jumping across the map I don't think his distance management would be a problem but the way it is now he can just fly to you and mark you from behind a pallet or through solid objects which has happened repeatedly making the game objectively unbalanced for survivors, I don't even see how this got passed beta testing especially if it's labeled as a major bug which it feels more like a feature than a bug.
I don't know if this was a bug or just luck, but this may help someone.
I found if you get marked at the exit gates and its blocked, stand next to it facing out, and when he hits you you'll fall right out the gate, just like if you were letting the killer hit you out. It won't be blocked as you're going down. Discovered that by accident last night and got a pretty cheeky escape when he thought he had me.

Dracula is fine, I still play him, y'all just want easy downs because you want survivors to have no agency.
This current killer is this way to make him sell better it's obvious.Bro, what are you even on about my guy? I said Dracula got nerfed for players saying transformation time was too strong, so I expect Kaneki to get the same treatment. I don't know how much more pro-surv agency I can be here.

idk about that but I found it weird that he was able to hit me through walls. Idk if that is a bug or just the latency
Had one of my mates saying this exact same thing, though I cannot confirm if its ping either or just a feature
-
So BHVR, we're just gonna pretend Dracula didn't get nerfed because players complained he was able to hit so quickly after transforming from bat, and you go and make a whole killer who's ability is based just around that.
Major nerfs better be incoming to this killer too if we're going to be consistent.

What are good builds for pig to get many head pops?
Here's some builds I copied over from the Discord.
Plaything/THWACK + Face the Darkness + Infectious Fright + Deathbound |Add-ons Crate of Gear + Tempered Timer
Grim Embrace + PR + BBQ + DMS Add-ons: No surprise here Iri Tape + R#2
Tempered Timer and CoG would be the go-to add-ons for applying maximum pressure. You can always flex something for Corrupt Intervention or Surge if you think you're not building enough gen pressure.

You shouldn’t have to just ignore it though. Which is why I used the PlayStation platform as an example. If anybody messaged something like what’s in the OP to another player they would be banned. No questions asked. Behaviour shouldn’t be allowing players to say whatever they want in the endgame chat without consequences.
And you clearly misread what I originally said as yes there are double standards here. You quite clearly said “Then he'd be like you, unable to understand he's on the internet” - which heavily implies that this type of behaviour should be considered “the norm” online which is why I brought up double standards. Most of the people saying this ######### wouldn’t say it to a co-worker or a random stranger because they know there would be repercussions for their actions. It isn’t hard to treat others with respect and I don’t get why so many people become Neanderthals whenever it’s being done online. It’s like they forget they’re still speaking to another human being who lives in the same world as they do.
I can almost guarantee that if there was an easier / more effective way to report the people saying vile things in the end game chat that it would start to disappear. These types of losers take the game far too seriously and don’t want to actually get banned.Yeah man I love the Sony reporting system. It's such a great and unflawed system that people in the community actively try to bait others into saying something off a list that catches a ban because of how easy it is to manipulate the system. It's well documented how their system hands out bans over the slightest things. So, we should all embrace that level of indiscriminate overreach with open arms? BHVR can't even implement a profanity filter correctly for chat, so what does that say? And what does it reflect on their ability to implement anything further for chat like ban system??? Also ironic how it's always the people running their mouth first who are always the first to run and report when they get that same energy back. No thanks, I'd rather have nothing at all than a wack system with an AI handling the reports. I agree with @Spare_Them_Mori_Me , Move on. These people are not worth the time of day.

Give killers The Silencer celebration as an emote. I'd def use that on survs when they get downed after t-bag or a cheeky save.
-
I can hear footsteps and injured survs with a $20 pair of headphones from Wal-mart/Amazon. Corsair, Razor, TBs will do just fine and more, or even Audio-Technica would be more practical investments for your problem. I don't think you need to break the bank to get some of these headphones being suggested like Sennheiser. You don't need Sennheiser If you're using these just for DBD. That's like using some primo Grade A Wagyu just to make Hamburger Helper or Sloppy Joes. Unless you're a mixing engineer, making a living from podcasting/streaming, radio, or something that would justify the cost of what you're paying just for the Sennheiser name, You'd be doing them a grave injustice and they would be criminally underused.
-

Indeed it would help educate players on improving their game sense.
I don't even think it would be difficult to implement. They'd just need to expand the tutorial by creating a section for basic/intermediate/advance for the scenarios and just put the players into the scene explaining the situation and what the victory/goal condition is. Let them be able to go back and practice again and again until comfortable enough.

Past a certain point, I stopped having Killer anxiety.
For me, and I do play Killer fairly often, I realized that I quite literally have no reason to actually justify bashing myself for not performing well. DBD is a game, and I spent a long time it taking insanely seriously where I had to win every single game. Eventually I just kind of stopped, I set small goals for myself, stuff I know I could do or work towards, and nothing extreme, and it's helped a lot, I would highly recommend it. Winning stopped being important to me, and with it, the game became more relaxing, since I could just play on my own terms, and play however I wanted to.
Finally, I also just kind of stopped caring about what people think of me, sometimes you just make people upset, and it's not a matter of you doing anything wrong, some people want to be upset and want to use other people are a punching bag. I have a lot of +rep and -rep, Ive had good and awful things said to me, past a certain point you remember more of the positive experiences than awful experiences, at least for me it did.
None of this is to discount Killer anxiety, but just to say that things can, and often do, get better as time goes on.
Good take. I feel the same way.

You don't seem to understand the implications of the OP here.
That these changes are not thought out whatsoever and are probably just as dumb as having Bots replace players who DC while having a DC penalty that players will just easily circumvent.
It is very clear that there is no plan or strategy behind any of these changes. I could probably ask kinder gardeners to come up with a more consistent system than any of this.
Okay bro, go ahead and ask your classmates to draw up a better system than this one.

I'm sorry to hear that you've had that experience when it comes to the Boons. I find that when I notice people are having Knock Out, I will ultimately push myself towards going into a locker. I actually ended up getting a 4 man out against a slugging Singularity because I would force him to hook me.
It's either you drop me and get no Knock Out value or you hook me getting no Knock Out value. The problem is, is that it makes a survivor have to notice it first, get picked up (however long that takes), and then utilize the locker which the killer can just set you down to bleed you out anyways.
As I've said, with the rise of Knock Out and blindness related builds (not add-ons) more people will opt to play SWF due to the fact that you can undermine these builds with simple communication. Just remember for next time, just try to put yourself into a locker and if you're slugged — what I like to do is to crawl away from my starting position and hope that someone finds me, at least that is how I played when I played soloq.
@Nun_So_Vile , I see the variety with those builds. It's kinda crazy that you made a whole build based around blindness but most of the time I just see Knock Out by itself. 😂 Those are some creative builds and I can see that you put a lot of time into creating them.
Do you typically use those types of builds or do you go for the simplicity of just using Knock Out? I would think that most killers opt for Knock Out because it's more generic to use and can easily give value once a survivor is down compared to simply hitting a survivor with a basic attack.
But as we've mentioned and we both agree that Hexes are generally really hard to get value from unless you're running a full totem defense build -- but even then they can be deleted from the match as a whole! I remember going against this Pinhead with Thrill of the Hunt, Devour Hope, Pentimento, and Undying (I think?) and my SWF and I destroyed his build by about 3 gens left causing him to be a perkless Pinhead. But at the same time, these types of builds are very strong towards soloq as obviously they don't have the necessary resources to combat these otherwise strong builds. 😅
Very good question! Like you mentioned about the streamers you watch, I'll run both perks, but that is a lot of perk real estate. Typically, if I'm going to run either perk the builds will depend on my reason and what exactly the means of obtaining victory are, but each have the same playstyle and the perks in them a purpose in mind, which is focusing on and supporting slugging playstyle with blindness as an extra benefit. In that last build I posted leaves room in the flex for really any flavor of perk you desire.
I like the creativity and and challenge of a hex build and I've softened my stance on Hex perks since running this build of Domination + Blood Favor + Rapid Brutality + Undying on Dracula. Blood Favor in particular has really has grown on me so it's sent me down this rabbit hole of trying some different ideas out. I won't always double-down on full hex build running 3rd seal by itself, I think 2 is enough if you have a solid idea of what you want the build to do. I'm hoping the upcoming changes to surv spawns will benefit hex totems as a whole since they won't spawn in already spread across the map.
3rd Seal is also an interesting one because of its most important ability giving blindness with basic and special attacks (Thanks Iron!). Where as Knock Outs sole purpose is for slug and getting effects after the chase has ended, 3rd Seal activates in-chase as soon as you touch the surv. They lose auto-pathing with WoO if they're using it, and the benefit there is you've potentially cut down your own time spent in chase by increasing their odds of making a mistake early during chase. And that's where time saved adds up in the bigger picture. Cause with WoO still active they can pretty easily use shift+W in injured state and have that vital info on resources to extend chase with a guided tour of the map even in solo Q. 3rd Seal's effect can also proc other perks that work on contact, so pair it with Blood Favor and make fairly short work of a player in chase.
I like to run Knockout by itself and somehow when I do I also end up using Franklin's. Those two together have been a staple in many of the builds i've done for some reason. I cannot remember how it got started, if its something I was recommended by a friend or just one night of theorycrafting stumbled upon it, but somehow they always wind up in the same builds. 😅😂

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3890980#Comment_3890980
You are right that both are great together, however, I just see Knock Out mostly on my end. 😜
You are correct that obviously there are many things that are incorporated with Hex: Third Seal but interestingly enough - not many people use it in a full Hex build.
Think of something like Hex: Pentimento, Hex: Devour Hope, Hex: Thrill of the Hunt, Hex: Undying, or whatever plethora of totem defense perks there are.
I just hardly see Hex: Third Seal but yes, Hex: Third Seal does have a lot attached to it but I think that's why it doesn't necessarily stay up as long as some might think to favor Knock Out more than the prior. 😎
That's how it always is, isn't it? Up for 30 seconds on Killer, but can't find the thing and it takes 10 minutes when playing surv…Oh yeah for sure, last time I checked 3rd seal was maybe barely at like a .6% pickrate even, so I'll definitely be in a small minority here, lol. It's an underrated perk, but understandably so due to limited perk slots and it being a hex (which have been really weak since like the dawn of time, but are starting to get more support).
I've posted some of my more aggressive blindness builds around the forums and most of them use a combination of both slug perks or one over the other, but say it was you want to do a full-on Blind Domintation Pig build using only 3rd Seal.
If I were to put it in a build centered around hexes. I'd start with using something like Dominance, Undying, Third Seal, and that's all it'd need for the staples. Then just include a flex (Penti, Blood Favor, Surge, STBFL, Ruin, ToTh, ToT, Unforeseen, or commit to the slug playstyle and go Infectious) and pair it with her blindness add-ons. You could even throw that on a more mobile killer and it puts pressure on quickly, which is ideally what you will want while your totem has uptime.

I chuckled a bit when you said that a Hex is permanent. (I know how you meant it)
But I would disagree and say that Knockout is better, simply because it is not a Hex and more than enough to make it hard for the SoloQ-Teammates to find the slugged Survivor. And you might not even need to look for a Hex-Totem, you might stumble upon it right at the start and it is gone.
@CautionaryMary said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3890974#Comment_3890974
Yeah, I agree Knock Out I believe is better due to the fact that it relies on the downed survivor to crawl towards their teammates and the team is permanently blind to the downed survivor.
I don't really see Hex: Third Seal a lot in my games, but Knock Out is something that a lot more killers bring.
Personally, I think Hex Totems should be stronger than their counterparts as Hexes should be more risk and more reward.
However, Knock Out is more low risk and high reward especially against a soloq team that doesn't know how to counter it.
If anything, I would put Knock Out on a timer and then put how Knock Out works on Third Seal so that there is no permanent blindness to the weakest role soloq.
But that's just my two cents, I really don't understand why there is such a thing as permanent blindness in a video game that directly supports cooperation.
Fair point, being down on the ground and not being able to see can be a nuisance. But, i'd still lean more towards 3rd seal just because you don't have to be down, only land a basic on surv, which is easy enough, and you've now effectively shut down and countered all the solo q aura perks that you can guarantee you'll run into solo Q (WoO, Kindred, Bond, etc…). Do not want to overlook that point. Yes, it is a hex perk, so it can be countered, but it kinda has to be a Hex because it just is that powerful of an effect that it would be insanely OP if it was anything else. Against your avg solo Q, no hooked surv auras, I believe downed survs are also hidden, and a minor slowdown is tough to go against for solo Q. It just barely has an edge for me with its potential, slowdown, and just how much it can do in a good game to counter a Solo Q team. But, yeah if there's a bone munching build it's gonna be tough to hold once they catch on, unless you are protecting your totems with a build centered around that.
But lets be honest, we all know they work better together ;)
-
Probably 3rd seal just because its permanent and makes you have to hunt for the totem. Unless you're really good and comfortable playing blind, or got a totem munching build then the perk is really annoying for solo Q.

- Check on your Mirror Myers friends. They might not be doing so hot after these changes.
- Classic BHVR, fix the symptoms and not the problem
- This indicates to me that The Realm Beyond initiative has been a complete and total failure. The results of it have been so destructive to map balance that players in the community have lost faith in the dev team and are saying they don't even want them to continue reworking the current maps. All the time and resources spent, all that was lost from the OG maps like the ample tall grass for Trapper, the horror atmosphere, and colors… in the end it really didn't matter as it was just putting lipstick on a pig.

I’m glad i’m not the only one who thinks it’s odd with the timing of the FNAF collab coming in a few months, it seems off when many players complained about all the problems in this game for years and all of a sudden BHVR has all these changes lined up for this year with a huge horror franchise coming to the game. On top of that a lot of players including streamers have uninstalled and are now playing games such as marvel rivals and they have been successful with their new content. Maybe this is all just a stretch but I can’t help but feel like this timing is bad.
I'm with ya. Cautiously optimistic is definitely the best way to go about it…Hoping for the best 🤞

We have complained about a lot of these issues in DBD for years and it seems like with a big horror franchise collab coming, BHVR wants to try to fix the game to keep a lot of the FNAF players around. This is all odd to me because we are your loyal fanbase and we wanna feel like our voices are being heard.
I was saying the same thing on my stream last night. Not only about the timing, but also how many changes we are getting during each phase and it's some very bold changes. Literally almost all the big ticket items that have been major points of discussion. Then it's supposed to not be balance changes, but QOL? How can you address camping/tunneling without getting into balancing the game? Same with map offering balancing and item balancing, is the plan to just throw things at the wall in an attempt to address and see what sticks and what doesn't? So many questions with very little answers right now.

Ah, you could do that in the past?
I just started playing killer months ago, so I wasn't aware during the pip system that you could swap between killers when readying up in the lobby. I just mainly played survivor for many years, obviously still play survivor a majority of the time but I didn't even know of that, lol.
Makes sense because there wasn't an MMR attached to the killer that you played, but interesting. 🤔 Thanks for sharing that. 😊
You're welcome :). Always happy to find a reason to share some of the history and nostalgia of this game. I also felt that was an important piece of context to the complete timeline of what was going on during this period of the game's history. It was only there for a few years early on and iirc by around 2020 it was patched out for the reason you stated.
-
Big mention, but you could also switch killers in game lobby. Which was just ######### fantastic honestly because if you loaded in and saw a bully squad or wanted to change up who you were playing for whatever reason, you could just switch your killer on the fly to whichever killer you felt best. Man…losing that really stunk.

I don't play a lot of survivor anymore, but if I see a Pig, I still usually try to boop at some point. Sometimes it's as soon as I see the Pig, but I've actually been granted more boops when I get chased and acknowledge they've got me.
I remember one time when I was up against a Pig who definitely had me, so I turned around and pressed the button to put me in the point animation as I took the hit that downed me. So actions went like this: (1) Pig hits me to put me in the dying state, (2) snoot booped, (3) I collapse immediately after boop animation is done. That Pig picked me up and let me wiggle off and live :)
That Pig is a rare breed. Bless them…When I encounter Pigs as a surv it usually ends up being ones that play similar to @UndeddJester and if you boop them once, they will leave but then it is fair game afterwards when they see you. I'll die to boop a pig because every single one of you is special to me for even being able to stick through so much of a rollercoaster of a character lol. The highs are insane but the lows are way low, like Jester and @CountOfTheFog were discussing.
Interestingly enough, I feel like early game is the perfect time to boop pig because its early and it gets to set the tone if that Pig is going to want to deal with your ######### or not that match…haha. If its a Black Jacket tho, watch out because they looking to fight and only know how to inflict pain 1000 different ways…😅
