Trying things out is most of the fun of the PTB! 😍Won't know how it works if we don't try it, right?
"We"
Maybe one day consoles will get to playtest too. Doubt it, though
-
What boggles my mind is that if 2 other survivors are bodyblocking the survivor I'm trying to chase, down, and sacrifice...
...
...then who the fog is doing gens and why is there only 1 gen remaining??
-
Right, or maybe it will behave like Renewal and only award Lucky Break more "charges" after you stop healing others
-
Coulrophobia only affects healing skill checks. No?
Either they left out the word healing in their update by mistake, or they left out mentioning the insane buff if it does affect repair skill checks.

In their anniversary stream, they said they wanted to talk about things that will be coming this year, not talk about the hopes and dreams of things they wish they could implement at some point in the future.
It'll likely come next year, or next anniversary, if at all 🤞
-
They are vulnerable to being downed in one hit and are exhausted. They have to heal twice to get back to healthy if they do decide they don't like being "exposed" and exhausted.
If mending progress cannot be 99%'d then survivors couldn't simply tap to finish the mend and then Sprint Burst away or Dead Hard
-
Basically, you don't have to kick gens manually. Just don't kill anyone until it has been cleansed

Not fun at all. Never has been.
It is just Mending-Simulator. And when Legion runs Thanatophobia, Gens take ages as well.
Will be even worse with the upcoming Patch - 90 second Gens with 4 Stacks of Thana will take 110 seconds. Nope, not for me.
Imagine if Deep Wounds didn't require mending (Deep Wounds causes exhaustion though), and if Resilience was twice as strong if you were in the Deep Wounds state...
-
I do foresee killers equipping Save the Best for Last to help them deal with the many ways survivors can gain endurance.
It makes survivor builds like these more appealing if Save the Best for Last does become common:
- Empathy
- Circle of Healing
- Botany Knowledge
- (Obsession perk) Decisive Strike, Mettle of Man, etc. (For the People, maybe, but it clashes with CoH)
If you're the obsession, keep bodyblocking and healing to drain the killer's STBFL stacks.
If killers see too many bodyblocking obsessions, then maybe Forced Penance will get more value.

Monday will be a deep dive into the mid-chapter from the devs on Twitch

Why we need to do this?
Because Deadhard and map-design.
Why should a M1-Killer run around with 4 LT-Walls in the center of McMillain for example.
Do I like this as Killer-Main? NO, ABSOLUTELY NOT.
Nobody plays serious in the PTB. Anyone camped will prob just DC.
Plus, by the time people are playing the PTB, the patch is going through certification on consoles. PTB is just to catch game-breaking bugs. Maybe a hotfix or two if it's a simple number change in the files.

-
Just use Forced Penance...
It'll stop them from being able to heal in the exit gate, and they'll never try to bodyblock you again. /s

if they are using flashlights then they aren't doing gens which is in your favor.
If they are doing gens while the killer wastes 40+ seconds getting a down, and then spend 4 seconds running over and getting a flashlight rescue, that is not in the killer's favor. The killer's time is 4x more valuable, not 10x less.
Just give the killer a perk that exposes survivors who blind killer locked in an animation, and make the clicking only audible to other survivors

It sounded like a straight-defense of the tactic of "waiting for your teammates to die" tactic with the quote from the manual/store, which was actual slow suicide at the time of statement because the hatch literally didn't exist.
Unless I'm wrong and that isn't what you meant, but I'm pretty sure this is the way words are supposed to flow.
Go back further.
Sizzlingmario said that it will encourage survivors to camp the hatch rather than make a rescue attempt.
I said NOED does the same thing for killer.
Lazuli said that making rescue attempts is the survivor's role.
I said that survivors can look out for themselves. They don't have to rescue.
Then people started taking that as me justifying survivors doing nothing the whole match.

You weren't talking about that. You specifically brought up the "looking out for themselves" part in response to him saying that survivors waiting for their team to die to get hatch wasn't them performing their role.
Yeah, duh, overaltruism kills teams. That's not looking out for yourself, that's not playing like an idiot.
But you weren't talking about that.
I was. Otherwise it would be off topic

At no point of this game's life cycle was it not a team game.
The only ways a survivor can survive while "looking out for themselves" were implemented after these statements solely to end the game quicker. LoOkInG oUT FoR number one usually just gets everyone killed.
You know what's a game that you really could just "look out for yourself"? Friday. There were like 5 different escape methods at any given time and nothing stopped you from taking the 4 seater and driving off. You evem got an achievement for it.
How about we listen to Dwight instead:
"I need you to survive so I can survive!"
Unhooking the 1 other survivor in front of the proxy killer is not going to let either of us survive
-
If the killer wants 4k's then they can wait for a match against SWF, who will over-altruistically go for rescues, with little regard for hatch plays.
Solos have very little. Hatch and exit gates are their friends, not some stranger on a hook being used as bait.

Are you seriously trying to tell me that hiding at the edges of the map for the entire match is a valid playstyle?
Because everyone who's played this game before knows that survivors lose in a 3v1 unless there's a massive skill disparity and MMR has screwed up. The survivor team cannot escape without everyone working together. People can ditch each other at the end, but before that point, selfishness is ultimately self-defeating because your teammates are your meat shields. Nobody wants to encourage 'wait for you all to die so I can get hatch' gameplay because the presence of those players makes the game impossible for every other survivor playstyle.
Why do you choose to only see it in black & white?
Waiting for hatch because the killer's trying to use empathy to bait me into the unhook when it's just me and 1 other is not the same as "hiding at the edges of the map for the entire match."
That said, solo matches can often fall apart so quickly that I actually am hiding only a few minutes into the match.

No? The killer can play however they want; they're the only person on their team, and if they get kills, it worked. Survivors that do nothing and wait for their teammates to die aren't performing their role and generally get their teammates killed through inaction. Nobody liked hatch campers and nobody will like Sole Survivors.
Their role?
"The Survivors are a team of 4. They can choose to cooperate or to look out for themselves."
-
@sizzlingmario4 said:
I don’t like it from a design standpoint because if a team is losing (but the game isn’t unwinnable) it just encourages a survivor with this perk to just hide and wait for hatch/wait for hatch to get closed and get an almost guaranteed escape with a 50% faster exit gate.
Not much different from NOED encouraging killers to play any match-throwing way they please, knowing there's a chance at more free downs/kills later
-
Killer stands on open hatch
Survivor has to repair gens, wait, or suicide
-
Remove the disconnect penalty and let players keep their Bloodpoints if they disconnect after the Endgame Countdown reaches 0 (in the cases of cheaters taking the game hostage)
-
Nurse, and Legion
-
I queue solo, and any survivor I'm with will almost always run the same direction as me instead of splitting up.
Now, I just run at Legion while the other(s) run away. I take the hit and then run laps in the basement instead of mending. Legion cannot get killer instinct on me if I just don't mend. (Doesn't change the outcome of the game; the others get 1 gen done instead of 2 if I don't help.) Either I live long enough for hatch, or they kite the Legion to the basement out of spite and we all die.
-
Darkness Revealed shows the aura of the nearest locker while off cooldown
-
Or they could change the name of the perk (they've done that with other perks before) so that the perk doesn't have to be as obnoxious as its name
-
I switch to Executioner and play like a bot (DbD's bot, not the cheater's).
I never use his power, just turn my brain off and lazily follow survivors around for an M1 attack.
I go from 1 gen to the next until I find someone. I follow them through every window, unless a very obvious shortcut is available. I disrespect pallets. I put my red stain on the survivor for about 2 seconds before swinging. Hook. Repeat.
Whatever else happens, happens. I don't sweat flashlight blinds or try to show any emotion. I keep calm and keep trucking along like a bot.

i guess thats what they were waiting for. thats weird tho it felt like well over 20 mins
My comment is not how the game currently works. I was suggesting they add this change.
-
Oh. Never mind.
I looked at the perk icon again, and it doesn't reveal until after the animation.
I must have been confused by Feng's aura showing up behind a locker that I was searching. Must have been from another perk.
-
I think the 4v1 adds to it.
The killers feel bullied. There are 4 opponents who can coordinate against them, while they themself feel purposefully powerless and handicapped (because they have to be, for the new/solo survivors' sake; and for the devs to maintain a 4:1 queue ratio)
The survivors feel oppressed. There is 1 dictator who can choose to ruin the experience for 1 or more players by camping and tunneling (neither chasing the same person repeatedly, nor staying near the hook, require perk slots; meanwhile, survivors can dedicate 3 or 4 perks slots to "countering" these to no avail)
-
The way the perk icon wipe behaves, it leads me to believe that it's revealing auras while I'm still mid-animation
-
I thought there was more news coming June 27
-
20 minutes
Endgame countdown begins. Killer loses collision. Survivors within 4m of the killer gain endurance for t seconds. Does not apply to Kill Your Friends.
This brings the game to a close, gives the killer a chance against stealthy survivors (find hatch first and patrol gates), and gives the bodyblocked survivor a chance to take a speed boost hit to find hatch (or to a safe loop until the exits are open in the case of multiple survivors).
-
Fun for who?
And who determines what is fun?
-
1 downside I see to this is "nice" killers letting all 4 go on purpose, only to throw them into a sweat bracket for their next match where they get stomped hard. The double Bloodpoints wouldn't help them at all, but will further reward the stomping killer in that sweat match.
-
The change would make it a Dead Hard on demand, buying them a window of safety to reach more safety, instead of it being the hidden health state it is now.

Good point. I did not check, as I did not consider such a thing.

True. Because the 2 killer who need a SC nerf the most are Myers and GF... who need LOS to stalk you....
The dev update said "clear line of sight."
Maybe this means that Ghostface crouching or leaning to stalk, and Shape stalking through cracks of objects or when the majority of their body is behind cover, does not activate Spine Chill.

Ok we get it survivors are strong... IF THEY ARE IN A SWF and can call out where the killer is at all times. If you are playing solo q it's pretty balanced right now. The issue is swf vs solo q, not survivor vs killer. I'd love to see these devs play solo q and see how much they "dominate" the killers all the games since survivors are so strong.
It isn't rare to see survivors getting stomped and 4ked with only 3 gens done in a solo q game. This would never happen in a swf unless they weren't trying.
You guys managed to get 3 gens done?? Nice!
Maybe one day it will happen to me
-
If they're concern with Iron Will is its effectiveness at mindgames in chase, then just change its effect in chase / exhausted.
Walking, crouching, etc should keep Iron Will at 100% sound reduction.
-
Honestly? Someone/something iconic. Maybe even Wesker still.
That way, when Lady Dimitrescu comes in RE Chapter 3, it won't seem as sus.
If they added her now, players would question the dev's motives for picking her over something iconic.

The Pig: literally anything that isn't a nerf pleaaase D:
More seriously though, raise the crouch view so that it isn't almost blinding to see in tall grass, and increase crouch speed to something decent. Other than that, rework her add-ons. She just needs a rework imo but I doubt that'll happen.
Imagine Spine Chill never lighting up against a crouched Pig because the grass constantly breaks her line of sight 😂
-
Let the Onryo vault windows at any point while demanifested. She shouldn't have to "wait in line" for survivors to finish vaulting first.
What's the point of demanifesting to walk through bodyblockers when they can simply slow vault a window immediately after their injured friend fast vaulted, or spam pallet vaults to deny a pallet break? I thought the killer was the power role.

I am not sure how many hours you have in the game but everyone loses matches. You cannot win every match. There is so much RNG with the maps, items, perks, add-ons, etc that in most matches one side will be at a disadvantage. Once you stop placing importance on sacrificing them and instead focus on winning chases the game becomes much more fun. I have over 2400 hours and still face teams that keep me at 2 hooks all match. I do not take it personally knowing that the game can be random and unfair in my favor as well. Just move on to the next match and your luck will probably improve.
Perhaps the killer role will be less tedious with the next update.
And those 4 survivors that the OP faced, how often do they lose?
Only against a meta nurse?

Ah yes a survivor calling killer perks easy mode...
In solo q you have to rely on yourself. If your teammates are that bad let it happen and think of possible plays for hatch. If you are really worried you can always run left behind and hide a key in a corner of the map.
You're complaining about whispers, a perk that helps find surviors. It's doing it's job. Perks that keep track of the killer off the top of my head are Alert, Object of Obsession, Spine Chill and kindred.
At what point is the killer allowed to win? They got the perks for the endgame protection and tracking why shouldn't you face the challenge? Killers face the challenge of going against 4 different people.
Endgame perks should be for endgame, when all the gens are finished.
