  • Trapper is a relic from how the game used to function balance wise, at least in my opinion. Hell, for the longest time you used to be able to just take away his power by sabotaging his traps, making him into an M1 killer.

Aside from that, I just feel he needs a few changes. Starting with more traps is a 100% must. I like the idea of having a add-on that lets him walk over his own traps, but maybe that's a bit too much.

Inside his web, Trapper can feel very oppressive. Everywhere else, not really at all.

  • Wraith main here. He has a power, hell I'd say it's an effective one at times - Wraith is one of the few killers that SWF can't constantly keep an eye on. It's just that his power is terrible ineffective without add-ons. I don't think he needs a complete rework, I just want them to make him not so add-on dependent. Making him fully invisible at a specific range like Freddy would also be a huge help.

I'm more mad they haven't touched him in 2 years aside from bugfixes and status effect updates.

  • For some reason it feels like Spirit is BHVR's baby. They don't wanna touch her for some reason. Clearly, if the StAtS have anything to say, Pig needs to be gutted. Pig OP. I vote we just remove Pig.

I think outside outside of the incredibly stupid standing still "mindgame" she's mostly well made. Mostly

  • 100%. Camping sucks, but unnecessary altruism is what those kind of killers want. Especially the killers who are very good at facecamping. Bubba, probably Pyramid Head. Maybe Plague?

Depending on how long that one person looped, the Survivors could easily get all or most of the gens done. Camping is a bad strategy unless the Survivors are overly altruistic. Again, it sucks, but the best thing you can do is just pound those gens out.

How does it make sense for someone to drink Anasthesia and move faster???

You're right. In this game where a dismembered woman can phase through reality, a interdimensional monster tears through dimensions, and a cowboy that made a speargun that sometimes somehow doesn't injure people despite going straight through their sternum a fat clown man drinking his own poison to power up in this living dimension doesn't make sense. What was I thinking.

I love wraith, but literally all the guy needs is increased movement speed while he's cloaked and the flashlight burn mechanic to be removed. Somewhere between yellow and green windstorm (I think the values go 12%/16%/20% so maybe make it 15) and then they rework the other windstorm perks into something else. Make a yellow shadow dance, and turn the green and purple windstorms into something like "you can immediately re-cloak when you get a surprise attack on a survivor by holding M2 during the attack wipe animation" or "reduces stun time if stunned whilst cloaked" something like that.

That's fair. I just want them to do something for him. I'm pretty sure the last time they changed him at all was when Spirit came out, other than bugfixes and the Undetectable status change. I just want him to not be so add-on dependent. That's all. He doesn't need anything else.

  • @ALostPuppy said:

Let's hope the rework is more engaging and fun for both sides. Although considering their other reworks, they only seem to get one side right...except Leatherface, actually. I find him pretty fun overall now, they did a good job with him.

I think the killer that's gonna get the "full rework" treatment is Legion. And God I hope I'm right and they remove this abomination from the game and make them better.

    But... But Wraith :(

  • I think it depends. A killer slugging for pressure or to get the 4K isn't toxic (a little sweaty maybe) but allowing survivors to kill themselves if they're slugged for non-toxic reasons will just turn into another way of DCing.

Maybe if all 4 survivors have been slugged for more than 30 seconds, or if you're the last survivor.

  • Don't make fun of him he has allergy issues

  • Ghosttress (1).jpg

Probably my crappiest job so far. I've outdone myself.

  • Hag. I don't think she's OP, but goddamn, I can never win against her.

Killer is way stronger than survivors. Why do you think they're removing BL?

Pop is a perk that takes 25% away from a generator, or 20 seconds. If your going on a generator alone. Most of the time, Survivor's stack up or have toolboxes. A commodious toolbox literally shaves off about 11 seconds from a generators total repair time or half of the Pop's effect.

Stacking on a generator nearly cuts the generators time in half, even more so if one of them is using Prove Thyself, which makes Pop's effect even shorter.

These are only two examples out of many. This is one of the worst balance ideas I've ever seen, and I've seen people that want to make DS and Ruin basekit.

Pop is a decent perk. Not OP, not trash. Just decent. Many killers already have to choose between Popping a Gen or chasing. It's heavily reliant on how good a Killer is. Survivor's have to make mistakes for this perk to even come into play.

  • Well, depends. Wraith with MYC, Haunted Grounds, and All-Seeing blood? Hoo boy.

In general? Maybe Huntress, or Nurse.

  • Pop depends wholly on how good a killer is. It rewards and incentivizes not camping. You can get your first pop after three gens are done. 25% can easily be gained back within seconds if survivors stack on a generator.

Pop is one of the most balanced perks in the game. It rewards a killer for playing well. If you go and try to Pop a generator you see in the distance, and the survivors complete it before you can even get there, it's useless. How is it too strong again?

  • I'm also curious to see why this is. I had a few questions I had in mind. Is it bugged or something?

A series of short films about the killers and survivors from before they were taken by the Entity and until they wound up in the Fog would be nice. A single-player game about the Cult of the Entity or other pieces of lore would be very cool.

No TV shows, nor books, nor comics, though. TV shows tend to get too cash-grabby and try to prolong a series well past its expiration date. Books would be boring, just a copy/paste of what we already have in the lore. Comics would have the same problem as the books, but with pictures.

Fair enough. If they did make a book or a comic it would preferably be with new lore, rather then what we already have. I do agree on the TV show thing though. I would love to see short films on all the Killers though, I think it'd be very neat. Same thing with the Survivors, though I think the Killers are far more interesting most of the time.

  • You have no idea the pain I feel when I'm looping a killer then outta nowhere here comes Nea who thinks she can do better, just to throw the pallet early to get a stun and T-Bag.

But as a Killer? Now thank you. My Pallet Kicking God Wraith build thanks you for this mild inconvenience.

  • Base Regression is terrible in my opinion. It's not nearly fast enough, and that's why most killers feel like they have to have something like Ruin/Undying or Pop to even have a chance.

I would make it so, first of all, the base regression was faster. Ruin would be adjusted if this were the case.

I'd make it so Survivor's didn't need to barely touch the gen to stop regression in something like chase. I would make it so Survivor's have to hold the gen for a few seconds after it's kicked before it start's the progress bar again.

Maybe add a instant regression of 3-5% whenever a Killer kicks a generator, but that may be too much.

  • Unless a sudden, new contender in the genre comes, then no. Even then, probably not since DbD has all the licenses, and a fairly big fanbase.

  • I've never got people like this. What kills me most is the Survivor that let's their entire team die, just to BM at the gates. Or Killers that go out there to slug the entire team for 4 minutes because they got a toxic survivor last game that escaped.

I mean, it's just toxicity. It sucks, but the anonymity of DbD and in general online games allow it.

I really hope they haven't gone "eh, lets just let them use undying/ruin". That would anger me greatly. I'm so sick of having to dedicate half my build to slowdown.

Honestly, I hope it's as simple as slowing the generator speeds until the Killer starts a chase (for a set amount of time). This could let some killers set up, or even let killers take care of any breakable walls they want. This way, Trapper won't lose 3 generators before he gets a down.

But yeah, I agree. I really hope they aren't treating Ruin/Undying as a bandaid.

  • The Felix Ricther perk Built to Last will grant 50% of the items charges after it's used. That's the only way to refill.

Ok First all the problems that Killer have is against a swf, but they are very rare. Killers like these are not.

And what on earth is "early game collapse" only the Word let me puke more then plague after 10 Matches.

Not all Killer problems revolve around SWF. That is a blatant lie. Maybe a portion of them do, but not all of them. I've gone against Solo teams and still had a gen pop before I even walked across the map. It is not a good feeling when a Killer has to say "Oh, I guessed the wrong side of the map. Guess I lose a couple gens now." And as I said, tunneling and camping is a problem, but most of the time it's a bad killer. The simple answer is Genrush. A camping killer wants altruism.

In the Year 4 Livestream I believe the Dev's mentioned an eventual new system for the Early Game, similar to the EGC. We don't know what it'll do, or if it's even coming anymore.

  • Lore wise? Who knows. Most of the Survivor's came packaged with another Killer, so perhaps that one. Nea would fear Nurse the most, Feng would fear Doc... There are a few chapters and paragraphs that don't follow this though, like Ghostface and Ash, but the Survivors that came packaged alone (Bill and Ash) are badasses, so maybe they wouldn't fear anything. The killers that came packaged alone... Idk, maybe they're an enigma to the survivors.

    Game wise? Spirit or Nurse.

  • Most killers and Survivors are completely fine. There are a few reasons that the other side can be oppressive, but it's not because they're OP, or too easy. If we're talking about ease, Killer is 10000% more stressful than Survivor. There is one situation when playing as Survivor that actually get's my heart beating faster, and that's EGC when I'm trying to open an Exit Gate. I'm nearly always stressed when playing Killer.

But again, the base experiences are fine (for the most part). We don't need to add time to gens because we don't want Survivors doing even more of what is the most boring part of this game. And we don't need to needlessly nerf killer again, because a huge portion of the cast is still pretty weak. The maps, again for the most part, are getting better.

The biggest problem is matchmaking. This is for both sides. As a green or even yellow rank Killer you will constantly get matched with Purple and Above survivors. As a yellow or green rank survivor, you go up against red rank Nurse mains. If matchmaking was actually fixed, I have a feeling we'd see a lot less of these "oThEr SiDe Is Op" from both sides, unless their a crybaby. A survivor only problem is that Solo Queue is laughable. I'm honestly surprised most of the time by the caliber of survivor's I see at higher ranks. Solo Queue is just way, way worse compared to SWF.

Killer's have multiple problems, but I'll just get into one. A killer can across walk across the map and by the time they get there, a gen pops. Base regression needs to be better, because most killers feel like they are forced to run Ruin, or Pop, or whatever. It doesn't allow for creative builds at all. Hopefully this "Early Game Collapse", whenever they introduce it, will solve the early game problem a lot of killers have.

Then there is Tunneling and Camping, which suck and will always suck, but most of the time it's bad killers that do it. If a killer is camping, you do all the gens. It takes 120 seconds for a Survivor to die fully. You can do most of the gens in that time. Then, on top of that, if you save right before second state with BT or DS, the tunneled survivor (If they're good) can loop a killer for enough time to get the rest of the gens done. Most of the time, tunneling and camping is terrible strategy.

Yes, there are things like Perks on both sides, that make the game much harder to play for the opposing team, and Overtuned Killers do exist, though the only one I would call OP is Spirit, and that's just sometimes. Freddy sucks, but I don't think he's OP. On the opposite side, a huge portion of Killer's don't wanna go against SWF, because a portion of them are Sweaty BM lords, but we can't get rid of SWF because some people just want to harmlessly play with their friends. Just like we can't nerf a killer into the ground because we don't like them.

I'm probably wrong about a few things here, but I'm just tired of seeing the same posts every goddamn day.

Nice lie. A Killer main wouldn't tell players to "take a break".

I'm not lying, nor do I really have anything to prove to you. I told them to take a break because I was approaching them with empathy, not with "Oh, it's because this game is Survivor sided." That would not have helped, nor added anything to the conversation. This is the last time I'm touching this conversation, because all you do is straw-man and assume. See ya.

  • @TheButcher said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1770578#Comment_1770578

"Take a break" = "I don't actually care that playing Killer is stressful, and a terrible experience, but I understand I need Killers to enjoy the game as Survivor, so take a short break to collect yourself playing a game/role that is actually enjoyable, and then come back to continue being abused by me"

I play Killer far more then I do Survivor. I don't enjoy the Survivor role at all. I find it boring, and I find Killer far more enjoyable to play. I told the OP to take a break if it was affecting their mental health, which from the post they made, it seemed like it was. Their mental health should always come before a video game. If they had asked for my opinions on what made Killer so unbearable sometimes, I would have given them, but the OP did not ask. It's clear you don't care about actually having discussions, so I'm not going to waste my time anymore. Even though you'll probably reply to this telling me I'm terrible for the game or something, I don't really give a #########. Have a nice day.

OP, I hope you found a way to enjoy Killer more, or learned ways you could get better.

  • @TheButcher said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1770535#Comment_1770535

No. Don't tell players to "take a break" it's only a friendlier way of saying "stop playing". It's dismissive. It's not nice. It doesn't solve the issue, that it is too damn stressful to play Killer. A game shouldn't be a way where you can play one side endlessly with ease, 0 stress, and even play just to make jokes/memes without even taking the game seriously. Then the other side you have to concentrate, strategize, basically sweat every round, and then get treated with consistent disrespect from the community after every match.

Stop with the dismissive comments. If you don't have anything constructive to say then don't say anything at all.

I said take a break because it was clear they were very upset at the time. They said in their post that they didn't want any of the same old advice, they asked for what they could do about the game stressing them out. The simple answer is to take a break and do something you enjoy. It is not dismissive to say that, especially if the game is affecting their mental health to that point.

If they had asked for my opinion on what makes the game that bad sometimes, I would have given it. They asked for what they could do to make them enjoy the game more, and I gave my advice. And, at the point the OP was at when posting, it was clear they needed to take a break and come back when they were better. That is not dismissive. This game has problems, but they didn't ask for the problems to be listed out for them.

Taking a break is extremely constructive. Once you see things from a more relaxed, not so stressed light you can try and approach it again. This game is stressful, especially for killer, and they needed help with their stress. If I had said "Get gud lul" or "Play something different", that would add nothing. I gave them a list of creators that have made guides on getting better at the game. I gave them advice on both getting better, and gave them advice on how to help their mental attitude towards the game. It is never good to keep playing a game if it bums you out so much, until you've calmed down and can approach it again.

Can we please stop telling Killers to stop playing as a way to dismiss just how terrible this game is for Killers.

Frankly it's annoying to see on the forums at this point, and I am seriously surprised the Moderator's havn't started to enact punishment for the dismissive comments plaayers get when they are only reiterating the same issue that still has yet to be resolved.

I'm not saying to quit the game. I'm saying that if they need to, take a break and do something that relaxes them. If a game stresses you out to that point, you should take a break. I even gave them some options of videos to watch on getting better.

I quite literally never told them to stop playing. I said to "Take a break."

That's the largest complaint I've been seeing about The Clown (reloading).

It's just way, way too slow in my opinion. Whenever I play Clown, I feel like I have to have a reloading add-on, similar to Wraith and Windstorm. Again, I don't play Clown very often. Whatever his rework, I hope it makes him much better.

But I do play Wraith often. Justice for Bing Bong Boi.

  • The biggest things I want for Clown is a passive reload to his bottles, and something to give him a bit of map pressure. Maybe drink one of his bottles to let him zoom around the map for a short amount of time. Then again, I'm not a Clown main. I'm sure @TheClownIsKing can put some ideas forth. Also, remove the noise he makes when vaulting. Why does he have that? No other killer has that.

  • It could be an interesting idea for awhile. Poor Wraith though. InViSiBlE KiLlEr btw. Autohaven Maps are really bad for him, just because they're so open.

But for that to happen that would mean those killers would have to get maps, which I don't even know if that would ever happen. I would love to see a Blight themed map though.

  • I don't really have a unpopular way of playing. I try to play fair as I can as both sides. Though, if I'm losing really bad I might Proxy camp. I try not to though.

Admittedly, if I get BMed first and I'm having a bad day I'll probaby BM right back.

  • Unfortunately, the forums are filled with people who want an echo chamber, and when you dare to disagree with their godly opinion, they treat it likes it a capital offense or something. I'm sure there are plenty of others forums that are just as bad or worse, but that doesn't mean ours can't improve. The few, rare moments where you get an actual discussion is nice though.

But if horror movies have taught us anything, it's that Ace will unload into the killer and breath a sigh of relief. He will then either

    A. Check to see if the killer is REALLY dead, which is when the killer reaches up and slits his throat.

    B. He will just run away and unlock the gate. Breathing a sigh of relief, he stands before the gate as it opens, revealing the killer behind it who lifts Ace up by the neck before ripping his guts out

Unless he's the Final Girl that is, in which case she'll survive only to be immediately killed in the sequel to show the audience that no one is safe

    Ace is best final girl

For now, they are more than likely going to re-enable bloodlust until all the maps are reworked. At that point, I imagine it'll be thoroughly destroyed.

Whenever they deactivate mori's, I hope they'll deactivate keys at the same time. This way, it'll give a fair insight on to how they inflate both sides winrates.

You can't, as far as I understand. Best you can do is ask a mod to close it. You can just flag your post and ask them. I'm not 100% sure why it's like this though.

  • That's a very healthy way of looking at things. We've all made posts we regret (me included) but it's good that you can reflect on what you've said and decide to try and change that.

I really do enjoy this game, and I want it to succeed, and (as much as they can irritate me sometimes) I do feel like BHVR cares about the game. Sometimes the decisions they make absolutely boggle my mind, but I know they're trying.

A big things I've noticed with these forums (and something I've done myself) is people just want to complain to be negative. Complaining is okay, as long as it's for criticism, but people that complain just to start an argument (or vice versa people who think only their opinions matter and won't listen to any other opinion or argument) are bad for the game and the forums. All they do is perpetuate a stupid cycle of negativity.

Anyways, I'm glad to see your more willing to look at things in a more positive light. Sometimes, this community can be great. Welcome to the forums!

I mean, Bloodlust should be disabled forever, once the problematic Maps are reworked. It feels good to actually outplay a Killer on unsafe Tiles without them becoming super-fast.

But that is something for the future.

In general, I hope they test a lot more stuff like this. Even quite frequently like every second weekend or once per month. Like disabling Moris and Keys for 3 Days, disabling certain Perks for some Days...

Personally I would also like to have a small BP-Bonus for all players during those weekend, like a 1.25-multiplier to animate even more people playing.

I'm more partial to keeping Bloodlust 1 (for those good ol' shift+w gamers) but I do agree that 2&3 need to go once all the maps are better. If a killer can't hit/mindgame at a short pallet, that's their fault. Same thing for if they try to Bloodlust a safe one.

They definitely need to add some type of reward. The amount of people that just kinda defaulted immediately to "I'm not playing killer this weekend" is bad.

I hope we get more of these weird experiments for devs to collect data. Every other weekend or something. Disable a mechanic/set of perks that is divisive in the community and see what's best for the future.

So do I. Honestly, I want them to disable Keys and Mori's for a period of time, just to see how much they inflate (or don't inflate) winrates on both sides. That is the biggest thing I can think of right now.

  • I honestly don't know why people can't see these experiments are very good for the game. This allows them to test things before they decide to nerf or buff them, so they can do so accordingly.

Maybe disable meta builds (both sides) for a week to see how much they actually boost win rates. The PTB doesn't have a big enough player pool to test things like that.

But, as it is, we'll probably have a few "disable Bloodlust forever" posts for a week until The Twins come out.

  • I've been a little disappointed with how they're handling her (their?) balance, but I am also 100% happy with how original and ambitious they are. Hopefully this means even more unique killers in the future!

That's not that much of a stretch honestly. You might be on to something with that whole revert then and change again later. He did look really twitchy, weak, and withdrawn in the trailer with the ragged cloak already on. I know BHVR will have more to tell with crazy Talbot, so I doubt they'll say anything now.
