  • What about Dead Dawg Saloon? That map is pretty light.

What even is the theme of this game? I'm incredibly tired of hearing this.

A psychopath dressed up in a chicken suit fits the theme of the game but a building during the day doesn't?

midchapter's gonna be in like, a month/several weeks. PTB's always a month/several weeks earlier. images of graphic updates always happen days before the PTB.

the ptb for the midchapter COULD very well be tomorrow. not 100%, but there's a chance.

nobody's confusing the hotfix for the midchap at all mang. it's pretty fair to hope for the midchap ptb tomorrow.

It's been two weeks since the Trickster was released. They haven't even released a bugfix yet.

I don't think the PTB has ever come out this fast after a chapter. If it does come tomorrow, I'll eat my words, but I heavily doubt it.

Edit: Look at me, a big stupid dum-dum.

  • I really like how the map looks in these teaser images. I love when horror is during the day-- Something normally seen as safe in the typical horror movie.f

  • There aren't really any licenses I'm really excited for. I mean- We got Silent ######### Hill.

I'd hope for Jason one day, but I highly doubt he'll be the next license.

  • Well, uh... That sounds like a hack, or really bad latency. I've never seen a bug that allows the killer to move that fast.

Yes the perks and mori + spirit. But assuming the person is new given how well they expected that to work I guess.

Bringing strong things doesn't make a person toxic. If it did, the survivor team is just as toxic. Keys and a good portion of the perks the survivors brought are strong. It would be toxic if she called you names or something in the end game chat. Mori's aren't even that strong anymore.

Seeing as all the perks are green, it's likely this person just got Spirit.

  • Wait, what? The midchapter isn't for awhile, no clue why there would be a PTB tomorrow.

I think you're getting it confused with the hotfix patch that may be tomorrow.

  • How, exactly, was she toxic? Showing off her perks and gasp An ivory mori!? An item that acts like a longer death hook? Dear god, how toxic!

This really doesn't show anything. If you're calling her perks and the mori toxic, not really. They're just things in game. If a green mori is toxic, a key is toxic.

The rancor + Mori is pretty damn funny though.

Compatition is good. there is no other way of putting it compatition is always good.

The issue is the competition never lasts.

Dead By Daylight is the King of the genre, and it will remain that way unless something changes. Last Year: The Nightmare was a thing for like a week and a half. Hide or Die the same.

Home Sweet Home Survive is a spinoff of an already established horror series, that being Home Sweet Home.

It's a spinoff of a game with an established lore, characters, and fanbase.

I think that the difference between HSHs and DBD is that DBD is held back by it's obligations, people expect a lot out of the developers and when those expectations aren't realized, the fanbase riots. There's not much DBD can do because they could never please everybody

HSHs is an early access spinoff of a horror game franchise based in Thai mythology, and no one really expects much out of it right now.

I've noticed a viscous cycle of these "competition games," what happens is people become fed up with DBD, so they go to the next best thing; Last Year, Monstrum 2, Home Sweet Home Survive, Outlast Trials (when it comes out), etc. etc.

When the DBD players move from DBD to whatever, they often take their toxic mentalities with them and ruin the playtime of the newest players, causing them to leave the game or switch to survivor. Que times for the "survivor" role skyrocket and the game slowly loses players.

Refunds cause the update cycle to cease, and the game loses it's last remaining players and dies without fanfare. Then everyone begrudgingly returns to DBD because it's the only game of it's niche with a consistent player base.

Essentially what I've noticed is that these games don't stand a chance, because they'll always be compared to DBD and be viewed as "inferior products". People will stand by DBD in hope that the game will get fun or because they spent so much money on it. The game will die and everyone will just have to come back to DBD until the next best thing comes along.

Pretending that HSHs is the "Dead by Daylight killer" is a bad mentality, viewing it as another option in a niche genre is much better.

We can't expect much out of HSHs in it's current state but constantly comparing it to DBD is the last thing we should be doing

My intention wasn't to directly compare them, but I can see how you thought that.

I agree that we should stop calling games the "DbD Killer."

The main point of my post is I don't think HSH:S will get enough support or acknowledgement to provide some sort of competition to Dead By Daylight, as that's something the game desperately needs and just doesn't have.

Pyramid Head I can understand, he has strong anti loop, Trickster doesn't which I find very odd. :/

Like I said, there's a lot of testing and reasoning behind it (probably.)

For Clown, he can't injure with his power. He only relies on M1's. Making him 110% would severely hurt him, it'd be like making Wraith 110%. Pyramid Head's ranged attack is severely limited (and he's also 110% while using it, so there's that.)

Trickster, especially with his upcoming buff, has a much larger range in which he can hit. And unlike Pyramid Head, he pretty much has no penalty for missing his attack.

  • Lore doesn't really have a lot to do with how fast they are. Demogorgon is a gigantic monster that could probably move faster than an edgy teenager with a knife.

There's probably a lot of testing that goes into testing out a killers movement speed. I remember seeing a post asking why Pyramid Head didn't move at 110%, and it's likely because they deemed that would make him too weak. Same with Plague.

I guess they decided that making Trickster 115% would make him too strong. Which seems doubtful, but hey, what do I know.

Yeah, I mean if we were to compare the best player who plays nurse and the best player who plays Spirit, Nurse is just superior. But, while Nurse requires a certain amount of skill and effort, Spirit requires 0. Anybody can 4k decent teams as a Spirit, whether that person is good or bad.

    This.

Nurse will always be the best Killer in the game. A good Nurse ignores pretty much all of the chase mechanics. Spirit is just waaay easier to do well with. I don't think Spirit requires zero skill (Unless it's the standing still mindgame, which, yeah, no skill involved there.) but she doesn't require nearly as much as Nurse does to do well.

She's like Freddy in a sense, just not as bad. Neither of them are very hard to learn (IMO) and both are incredibly powerful and can win against most teams.

    "High skill cap"

I somewhat agree that base blight is skillful.

    But exploit blight isn't.

Only Blight mains enjoy him and the viewers who are never matched with blight tend to parrot their favorite streamers.

You don't see any streamers but nurse mains or tourny squads win as easily as blights do.

He is opressive and currently unfair. Fun or not.

I agree that exploit Blight isn't very fair.

And I'm certainly not a Blight main, and I enjoy him. I'm a Wraith main, pretty damn far from Blight. I'll always find Nurse way more unfair than Blight, and killers like Spirit and Freddy way more infuriating to play against.

The main problem I have right now is your definitely kind of treating your opinion as fact. "Only Blight mains enjoy him." is not a fact, it's an opinion.

But Blight will become more common than nurse with the amount of streamers riding him? The average player is too intimidated by the stigma of nurse's difficulty to try her\learn her.

Blight is incredibly boring to face and more common for me.

Perhaps, but that doesn't make him more oppressive than Nurse, or even Spirit. And streamers like him, so what? Streamers tend to like higher-skillcap characters. Look at all the streamers that mained characters like Genji and Widowmaker when Overwatch first came out.

And that's just your opinion. I personally like Blight, but we all have our chosen hated killers. Hag is my Blight, I can't stand her. But that's just an opinion. Both are valid.

  • "I think he is the most oppressive killer in the game."

Nurse will always be the most oppressive killer in the game. Blight can't ignore the game mechanics like the Nurse can.

Just got undying. My current build is BW, undying, dh and rancor. It's ######### but can have a use.

You're gonna have to remind me what DH is, because the only thing I can connect those letters to is Dead Hard. I literally can't think of a killer perk that could have the initials DH because I'm an idiot.

Edit: Nvm it's Devour Hope. No clue why that took me so long to think of.

  • I forgot about the pallet bug. Whelp.

  • You just got RNG'ed. Hope you have fun grinding for anything remotely useful! A fun build might be Nemesis, Rancor, Blood Warden and Remember me. Just a very bad, memey build.

Technically she killed her father before being taken the the Entities realm.

I don't think she did. I always assumed Rin's father would probably commit suicide after he killed his wife and daughter, based on his whole very nihilistic reason for even murdering's them. Unless her archives or some skin say something, nothing in the lore hints that she killed him.

I dont think that "Looking like troll with her brother sticking out of her body" will be something which will be called "feminine" at any point.

I'm just bringing up the fact that Charlotte is a female killer that was released pretty recently. Not saying she's feminine at all.

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • I mean, Charlotte is a woman and she was released the last chapter.

Though, I suppose she isn't feminine by traditional means.

  • It's just an animation change, as far as I know.

  • In my opinion, balanced but annoying. It only activates if a killer is doing well, and getting hooks. It can only be used on one generator, and honestly, 25% is not a huge amount of time. It takes a survivor 20 seconds to recover that lost progress, not counting any buffs towards gen speed (or de-buffs), or great skill checks.

Not to mention to use it you have to break from chase 9/10 times.

  • Don't nerf killers. Nerfs just make people mad. Something does need to be done about Survivor, but it's not nerfing killer.

Nerfing would just ruin the experience for one whole side. We need to seriously buff Solo Survivor, somehow, to be near the level of SWF. Nerfs make people angry. That's why people are always talking about nerfs rather than the constant buffs.

  • Everyone seems to forget about that year we didn't get anything licensed. Clown-Plague.

This is something BHVR made clear they wanted to do, but may not be entirely realistic.

Well, I really enjoyed it, but I understand that some players didn't.

I mean if you enjoyed it more power to you. I just thought it was incredibly boring.

  • Hey cool, the guy who does nothing put pull the victim card every time he posts!

Freddy is getting nerfed, rightfully so. There is no point in beating a dead horse.

  • Ah, yes. Bring back hatch-standoffs, arguably one of the least fun parts of the entire game when it existed.

    You've done it again, Sluzzy!

  • You're claiming that the Trickster is 'an altered version of Huntress'-- Which I can somewhat agree with. His power is more like Plague's.

But you made a post about the 'timeline' of DbD, (which has never been set up. You forget the Legion are from the 90's, and Plague, the oldest killer, came out after them) His lore is completely fine, and him being from the modern era is completely fine. The Trapper is likely from the 1800's, and the Wraith is from a point where junkyards existed, and the machines to crush cars. So, Wraith is also probably from the modern era, or at least somewhat modern.

    This timeline has never existed.

I havent looked at hag lore. But still, you agree with me that the new killers feel like altered versions of others like huntress and trick?

So your issue is with the killer's gameplay, rather than his lore?

Then why did you make a post complaining about his lore?

  • In the most recent QnA, they said it's evolved into something different, not related to the early game anymore.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/224081/its-that-time-again-where-i-watched-the-dev-stream-that-one-time-so-you-didnt-have-to/p1

@GoodBoyKaru so kindly jotted it all down in these handy posts. It's near the bottom of the initial post.

  • Well, there was some sort of "Pre-Game idea similar to the end game collapse" they mentioned in the year 4 stream, but we never saw it. As far as I understand, that idea has been more or less completely trashed (according to the last QnA, if I remember right) in favor of some other new mechanic we also have no idea about.

  • If there was nothing in the patch notes about flashy changes, it's probably a bug.

Unless they just... Changed flashlights again without mentioning it.

  • I mean, I don't really play SWF that much, and when I do it's with one other person and not very 'sweaty.'

But, same reason people tunnel and camp.

They just wanna win without really caring about the other side's fun.

That could work with other killer but I'm more worried about this perk being way to strong on nurse. Holding w doesn't work against her

To be fair, Nurse makes most perks good on other killers far stronger. We can't balance by saying "Oh, but it'd be too good on nurse!" because most things are too good on nurse.

  • It's strong, but nowhere near meta. Other exposed perks are still better and more consistent. Here's how you counter this perk completely.

If you get exposed by Starstruck, hold W away from them.

  • While I'm not the biggest fan of the Trickster's design, I actually really do like that animation. The part where he's dancing is really satisfying to watch for some reason.

Also, welcome to the first day of a killer being released. Be prepared to see "Trickster (or insert perk here) Is OP/Weak!!" for the next week or two.

  • Does it really matter?

The answer is no, not really.

I can't see curse words, oh god, what am I gonna do. Being able to disable it is a fine ask, but it should also be an option for people who don't want to see that kinda crap. It doesn't just block ######### and shits but things like slurs.

You think I'm to blame for this mess lets go through all of the forum threads together and see that killers are more toxic all they do is complain that survivors t bag and throw pallets on them so they talk to us like crap I've just had enough and I'm saying it how it is killers will find any excuse to be toxic a survivor could just tap the crouch button and you'd assume it was t bagging

For every post about teabagging I've seen, I've seen a similar one about facecamping, or tunneling, or a specific killer, or perk, or playstyle. For either sides. Neither side is to blame for the game. Both killers and survivors do petty ######### and complain about petty #########. Stop acting like one entire side is to blame.

And I never blamed you for "this mess", I just said you were being petty and a hypocrite. Which you are. This conversation is nothing but you justifying yourself being toxic because "oThErS aRe ToXiC tOo!!!1!!1" If you wanna be toxic for no reason, then just own up to it. Stop acting like a child and own up your decisions.

And before you continue about your tirade about teabagging, I don't care about it. I stopped caring about most things ingame a long time ago. Most of the time, the only place you find actual toxicity is in end game chat or other places about the game.

  • @Zixology said:

    I think it's just dumb...

It literally halts all gameplay until the timer runs out. For normal killers, it's stealth until it's over. For Doc and Plague (and sort of stealth killers), It's free NOED.

Combine it with Remember Me, NOED, and Bitter Murmur and the only people enjoying the match are the ones who already died and are hopefully in a better one already.

I mean, this is a pure endgame build. The killer doesn't have any other perks for the rest of the game. I do kinda agree with NOED, though. NOED's a dumb perk, even if technically is weak.

At topic, I think No Way Out is fine. IMO, a fairly healthily designed perk.

  • Hey, cool, more petty "Us vs Them" bullshit! Way to be the better person, you're totally cool and you win the internet! You totally aren't a gigantic hypocrite for making posts like this, and this totally adds something to the forums!

Oh, wait. You are, and no it doesn't. I've seen this kind of stuff your complaining about from both sides in equal amounts. But way to get back at those nasty killer mains!

All your doing is inciting more infighting for a community that already has plenty and disguising it as some petty revenge BS.

    Good job guy!

How close do they have to be? I say 16m (same as comradery) is fine.

For how long do they have to stand there? Give them 3 to 5 seconds. More than enough to walk away.

What if the killer is doing another action, such as breaking a pallet or generator? Doing both of those things doesn't take enough time to mean anything in regards to this.

Or what if the killer knows there is a survivor nearby? As long as they start a chase with them, then entity progression of the hook will go as normal. Hence the whole point of the fix. It cannot be abused.

Fair enough. If this idea ever went through, which it likely won't unfortunately, I could see all these ideas's being incorporated in some way. Likely fine-tuned, and I'm pretty sure even if BHVR did incorporate something like this they wouldn't have it completely stop the timer. Probably just slow it by a large percentage.

  • @DecisiveDwight said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2058047#Comment_2058047

Pretty sure they get paid and doesn't stop them from shutting down anything that they see as "offensive"

    No. They don't get paid.

Also, I don't know how many times I have to point this out.

Most of this just isn't the devs, or the mods who you clearly have a problem with, fault. All the stuff you pointed out is 100% at fault for the higher-ups of BHVR, the company. Likely some sort of investor or project manager who tells them to roll out new content every three months.

The devs are employees. They have schedules to follow, orders to listen to, jobs to keep. That doesn't excuse the bullshit, but maybe you should realize not everything is black and white as your making out to be. The devs and mods are people, not some evil, corporate entity that's out to get you. If you wanna blame someone, blame the higherups.

  • @Zixology said:

There's a part that people overlook in regard to the fix that keeps getting suggested.

People like to say "Make the hook progression stop if the killer is near" and then leave it at that. No. That would obviously be abusable.

BUT, if they add on that the killer would have to not be in a chase as well, the system could work. We've seen the devs try to implement the often suggested fix before and it was abused by survivors just running around the hook. But if the hook progression continues if the killer is in a chase, this problem wouldn't exist AND it would solve facecamping.

And people can say to blame the players and not the devs all they want. I'd agree with you if it weren't for the fact that the devs straight up promote camping of all kinds after failing to fix it. So yes, I do blame the devs.

I think there's a lot more to it than just "if they are in chase it doesn't progress." How close do they have to be? For how long do they have to stand there? What if the killer is doing another action, such as breaking a pallet or generator, or what if the killer knows there is a survivor nearby? Are they just supposed to leave, and let them get a free unhook? I fully believe something needs to be done about camping, and the "progression stop" is a good idea, but I also think it needs to be much more defined.

And, at the topic of blaming the devs, I think they value "player agency" a little too much. That has always been their excuse for not dealing with camping and tunneling, and part of me think it's just because they have no idea how to deal with it.
